This week we dive into Kaiju No. 8. We break down the series, which follows Kafka Hibino, a 32-year-old man who once dreamed of joining JAKDF, but instead finds himself cleaning up after the battles. But then his life changes when he ingests a parasitic kaiju, transforming into a powerful humanoid monster known as Kaiju No. 8. We discuss the anime’s strengths, from its storytelling and humor to its lack of filler episodes and excellent character development while also getting lost in the weeds for a couple of minutes as well by touching on the differences between sub and dub translations, the anime’s world-building, and its standout music and animation.
