The lead story
for Thursday, September 4, YouTube is enforcing
stricter premium family plan rules
requiring all members to live in the same
household.
Noneligible
users will lose premium benefits after fourteen days
following Netflix 2023
policy shift to curb account sharing

(00:21):
and drive new subscriptions.
Welcome to episode 1,842.
I'm your host, Todd Cochran. Yes. This YouTube
is playing the Netflix game, and they're gonna
limit
premium benefits only for family members
staying in the same home.

(00:41):
So, this may be a bit of an
issue for some of you that may have
a shared account with a college student
or so forth. So according to the new
policy, what you need to know
is the crackdown
begins in about fourteen days.
Affected users will get will get, some time

(01:02):
to confirm eligibility,
and then YouTube will pause premium family accounts
shared outside the same household.
Now
the plan, which costs about $23
a month, has been an easy way to
split subscription costs with others. However, now it
looks like YouTube,
again, is gonna crack down on user sharing
accounts outside

(01:23):
of the home.
And, so if you're part of a family
plan but not physically located in the same
house, you will be getting
a message.
In the email, YouTube says family family
plan members must be in the same household
as the family manager.
If not, membership will be paused. The email

(01:44):
as effective users will remain in your family
group and still watch YouTube with apps that
no longer have YouTube
premium.
Now, notably, YouTube will allow users to receive
this email to confirm eligibility and maintain access
using a support form.
Now for what it's worth, YouTube has required
family members to be in the same household

(02:06):
since 2023,
but until now, there was no consequences
for ignoring it.
So now it looks like the company's cracking
down on this.
In other words, you connect
via a different IP, a different network,
then you will have to
pay
for a second account or be removed,

(02:27):
from the premium plan.
I pay for premium. I don't pay for
a family plan, so it doesn't affect me.
But I do run into trouble whenever I
travel.
It seems that YouTube,
takes a little bit for under to understand
that I have
left The United States
and arrived in whatever country I may be

(02:48):
in.
So, you know, this is not surprising in
in that regard.
Netflix is actually a little more tough and
then but the main thing is there's no
one here
that's using my YouTube or Netflix account. I
have shifted location, and it usually resolves itself
within a couple of days because I see
there's no one that's actually logged in or

(03:10):
actively using the account,
where I normally reside.
So,
yep.
So if you got a family plan,
no longer will anyone outside of the household
will have access.
Again, welcome to episode 1,842.

So, tomorrow, I
fly out to Quincy, Washington. I'm gonna go
see my daughter
and my grandbaby

(06:03):
and spend the weekend with them. So I'm
flying Friday, flying Monday. So there'll be no
show on Monday. Be back with you a
week from today again,
but I gotta do that family round. I
gotta go spend some quality time, with the
grandbaby.
And,
but, I'll be back with you a week
from today for a a regular show. With

(06:24):
that, let's go ahead and get into the
stack today. Lots of interesting
tidbits and news and information that's made the
scene.
SpaceX,
the Dragon has given the International Space Station
to kick up the in orbit. They basically
did a,
a burn for about five minutes and three
seconds
that raised the altitude

(06:44):
of the International Space Station by
about a mile.
And, they're gonna do ongoing tests while the,
the Dragon is there.
So they're using Draco engines.
And, the Northrop Grumman
air spacecraft can also perform limited reboots as
well that was demonstrated in 2024, but Dragon

(07:07):
itself is capable of using its engines
to nudge the International Space Station.
Of course, this reboots kit was in the
SpaceX c r c r s 33 Dragon
cargo spacecraft,
and, they're going to be doing several more
of these,
lifts,
while the,
while it's, on station.

(07:29):
Now you all know that I was one
of the first to play with the smart
glasses when they came out so many, many
years ago, Google Glasses, and boy, they've come
a long way since then. But the majority
of them are ugly,
big.
They not don't necessarily look that cool.
We know that, Ray Bans
are one of the most fascinating new pieces,

(07:50):
lifestyle tech. It's out there.
But, again,
short battery life,
and, you know, they they're decent.
But, again,
I think what we are seeing here is
is I think we're always gonna be tethered
to some some form of battery,

(08:13):
but they're saying that, the the glasses are
gonna be approving.
And embedded displays inside the smart glasses will
help,
but, lots of people are coming out with
some Magic Leap, Snap Spectacles,
the Ray Neo x three, Google, and Samsung
are expected. Eventually, they have their own smart
glasses with displays.
And, of course, all these things cost a

(08:34):
lot of money
at this point. But, you know, unless you're
gonna be a USB c tethered
to a to a battery like the X
Real one and Virtual Luma Pro,
just the the usage is just there's not
enough battery in the glasses to,
to make it last long.
So I think what we'll end up seeing

(08:56):
at some point is definitely a a greater
a greater functionality of these things.
And, but made a second gen Ray Bans
debut almost two years ago. And, And, of
course, the company is expected to announce an
upgrade, but, again, the battery life is,
is, again, always the issue with these. But
have any of you

(09:17):
you
used any of the smart glasses out there?
If they are, I'd love to hear from
you. Geeknews@gmail.com.
Keeknews@gmail.com.
Just send me an email just to let
me know what you think,
if you've used any of these,
smart glasses at all. PayPal and Venmo users
won't want to miss this deal, perplex and

(09:37):
AI Perks.
So get free use of Perplexity Pro and
access to AI powered Comet browser
just by being a PayPal
user. They've they've partnered with, ChatGVT
rival, Perplexity,
to offer US based PayPal and Venmo users.
Users in some international markets are also eligible.

(09:58):
The benefits include free access
to Perplexity's new desktop based AI browser called
Comet.
And, of course, the desktop app acts as
a personal assistant by answering questions.
You also get a free twelve month subscription
to the Perplexity Pro AI search assistant worth
$200.
So, the hub is located inside the PayPal

(10:18):

a page that's in the linked show notes.
So this is a great way to save
$200
a year on the Proplexity
Pro plan
just by being a member of PayPal
and Venmo.
Security cameras have come a long ways. I

(10:39):
remember when, I I built the office just
in 02/2019.
Lots of hardware oh, you know, hardwired
hard
wired wires,
you know, tied to a POE switch and
just a whole bunch of stuff. But security
cameras now are offering all kinds of options.
The EufyCam

(11:00):
s four offers
both
a, a,
PTZ version along with a stand stationary bullet
camera.
So all in one. So pretty slick little,
security camera.
And, of course,
powered by solar power and, you know, connected

(11:20):
to your security network via,
WiFi.
And, but again, a four k camera with
a generous 130 degree field of view.
All this stuff is getting
pretty pretty amazing.
And the quality on the security cameras is
pretty incredible. I think about the Wyze cameras
I have alone. I've retired a few of

(11:42):
my
gen ones and updated them in in specific
places.
And even the nighttime vision is is just
incredible. I have two running in my,
apartment in The Philippines. I can check-in on
the apartment at any time and
motion detection, the whole nine yards, and they
they work incredibly well.

(12:02):
Anker, I'm a big fan of Anker, battery
products. Anker's debuts a new line of premium
chargers.
They got a desktop version. It'll charge your
iPhone and your Apple Watch along with your
earbuds at the same time with a couple
of battery banks.
I've got one of their new,
chargers that, a high speed charger. I can
plug up to five devices on it, and

(12:24):
I can see how much power draw. It's
it's, you know, from a from a geek
standpoint, it's pretty nice. I picked that up
during, the,
Amazon sale, whatever they call that, when they
have their,
two day sale. I picked one up at
a discount price. But, again,
Anchor products and services always seem to be
pretty good.

(12:44):
The world's largest sports piracy site has been
shut down by police according to,
the Alliance for a Kativity Entertainment
said on Wednesday, it had teamed up police
in Egypt to shut down Steam East, which
has been visited by more than more than
1,600,000,000
times in the past year, apparently allowing millions
to access pirated stream of sports

(13:07):
such as
Premier League, Formula One races, and Major League
Baseball.
So with this landmark action,
they put
more points on the board for Sports League
by taking down these pirated sites. But where
one was,
another one will will pop up. So,

(13:31):
according to
this group
stream, East various domains originally primary originated primarily
from The UK, US, Canada, Philippines, and Germany.
And two people have been arrested,
only two,
running a site that has that many folks.
Yeah.
Uh-huh.
So,
anyway, whack a mole. What's gone today will

(13:53):
be back tomorrow.
Philip Hughes takes on Ring with its first
video doorbell,
and,
they've,
but which does which really
Ring camera,
deserves a place on the wall?
The new Hughes doorbell, according to this article,
gives you a lot of bang for your

(14:14):
buck.
And,
the it's wired rather than battery operated, so
you can't stem simply stick it on your
wall. So for the purposes, you're gonna have
to wire this up. It's really not,
it's not an unwired piece,
which is definitely,
a challenge here. But,

(14:34):
its doorbell records two k and has a
180 degree field of view.
What is the price on this thing? Does
it say what the price is?
No.
Well, maybe. 59.
No. No. No. No. The doorbell cost a
$169
or a €139,
and they've got an additional chime as well

(14:56):
available.
A no page subscription is necessary, so that
might be something that interests you
in that regard. So,
definitely, there's a a b comparison here between
Phillips Hue, it takes taking on ring. You
can definitely check that information out,
in the show notes.
Revolution win is suing the president's administration

(15:18):
over a project halt.
And,
this article basically says that a Danish offshore
wind developer, in the states of Rhode Island,
Connecticut,
have announced a lawsuit
on Thursday alleging its decision to block construction,
the nearly finished
Revolution Wind project
by the commerce department saying it is an
illegal project. So we'll see what happens with

(15:40):
this one in court. But the order forced
the suspension of a project that was 80%
complete with all offshore foundations in place and
45 out of 65
wind turbines installed.
And, they have a because these take special
ships to put these windmills up,
they're trying to get an injunction to allow
them to continue or they're gonna lose the

(16:02):
ships off to other projects.
Techniques has introduced what's called a terra cotta
turntable,
and I love what Technics has done, bringing
the ability back to do vinyl.
But, the terra cotta turntable, the Bluetooth boost,
and,

(16:22):
according to the reviewer, it's absolutely
beautiful.
There are three color options,
but apparently, the terracotta one has got some
folks' eyes. It has a con a cordless
direct drive motor,
a newly designed tone arm,
MDF plinth in terracotta black lighter gray, $900.

(16:43):
So, again, another Technics turntable.
And, again, striking color with built in,
Bluetooth among some of the functions. So those
of you the vinyl light lovers out there,
the options just keep getting better.
The article over on space.com,
basically, there was a hearing that former NASA

(17:05):
administrator Jim brin Brendonstein
testified
before the senate committee on September 3
saying that unless something changes, it is highly
likely.
It's highly likely The United States will beat.
No. It's highly unlikely
The United States will beat China's projected timeline
in getting back to China. Is there really

(17:26):
a reason why we need to be first
back to China? Is there is there an
is there a reason?
Basically, they underscore the delays with budget uncertainty,
wavering commitments,
undermining both US industry and international alliances,

(17:47):
drive partners and suppliers
towards China because they're accelerating lunar mission objectives.
So, again, a bunch of people are warning
that China may beat us back to
the moon. Well,
okay.
So what?

(18:07):
It's not like they're gonna live there anytime
soon,
and neither are we.
So time will tell.
The article over at livemint.com,
and, this is a
a separate article. I was originally had the
Reuters article, but they they have so much
blockage now. I couldn't even go over the

(18:29):
article. But, apparently,
in the first day of trade on Nasdaq,
the shares in American Bitcoin,
a Bitcoin miner soared as high as $14.52
before pulling before pulling back,
to be at 16.5%
at $8.00 4 by the end of the
day. And what's unique about this
is that Eric Trump and,

(18:50):
Donald Trump junior owned 20% of the stock
in American Bitcoin,
saying that, their their
their stock is now worth 1.5,
billion dollars.
So, a lot of people are complaining, oh,
undue influence, blah blah blah, profiting from crypto.

(19:11):
So I think what we all know is
crypto is exploding.
And,
if you're, you know, if you're rich and
in a position to support a company to
get off the ground and start things,
you know, you could have that 20% stake
your self. They didn't get that for nothing.
That is for sure.
But, again,
people are gonna complain no matter what. And

(19:32):
I and I I get it. I really,
really do.
If you're a Lego fan, the Lego Death
Stars have been officially announced with a price
tag of a thousand dollars.
So if you are a hardcore
Star Wars,
this price might be jaw dropping.
But, again, 999

(19:52):
making the most most expensive set you can
buy. It'll be available October 1 for LEGO
Insiders and October 4 for everyone else.
The official name of the set is a
LEGO Star Wars
Death
Star ultimate collector series.
It's not the full sphere shaped build you

(20:14):
may be expecting, but a cross section of
the Death Star. The front portion is open
revealing a number of rooms that make up
the ultimate space weapon.
Purchasing the
anyway, cutaway view

(20:35):
and,
the other half of it is the Death
Star. So, again, thousand dollars
for you hardcore Star Wars Lego fans out
there.
Porsche's beat Tesla to wireless inductivity
wireless inductive
charging, excuse me,
as the Cayenne Electric is the first with

(20:56):
the tech. The level two EV tops up
without
using any cables.
Porsche says it'll be the first automaker to
offer 11 kilowatt charging system
that doesn't require messy trailing wires, but it
will require some extensive installation.
Due to be unveiled at the I, double
a, mobility show in Munich next week,
a heavily camouflaged

(21:17):
Cayenne Electric will demonstrate the ability to bring
its rumored 108 kilowatt battery without the need
to physically plug in. Porsche says that 75%
of all charging processes take place at the
customer's home rather than a public network, so
it sees plenty of potential for well heeled
individuals,
those that can afford a Porsche,

(21:37):
to go wireless in their garage or in
their driveways. Yes. You're gonna have to knock
out your concrete,
put this charger in,
and, the the chunky unit itself weighs around
50 kilograms, requires professional installation.
And,
so maybe you don't have to knock out
your,
your your concrete, but you will have some

(21:58):
cables on the floor
as, demonstrated by this image. So
looks like a a box you drive over
and, get inductive charging. So
very, very cool.
You know.
But plugging in the cable, how long does
that take? Sixty seconds?

(22:19):
I wonder what that charging unit cost.
And I wonder if you can still charge
this, electric vehicle with with an actual plug.
I'm sure you can.
The United States Department of State this week
announced a reward of up to $10,000,000 for
information on three Russian federal security service officers.
I'm not even gonna try to pronounce these,

(22:40):
individuals' names, but, apparently, they can spare you
to hack into networks of 100 of energy
companies in The US.
So the purpose of attack was to enable
the Russian government to disrupt and damage such
facilities.
Three officers in the coconspirators
targeted more than 380 foreign energy sector companies
in a 135
countries.
The suspect's members of the FSB center sixteen

(23:02):
unit target American foreign oil and gas firms.
So,
I guess these individuals better not travel outside
of the,
outside of Russia,
because they definitely have a most wanted sign
painted over them.
The world's first dual driver open earbuds

(23:22):
and two more headphones
all were tuned by Bose
by a company called Basus, b a s
e u s, goes all in on audio
at IFA twenty twenty five. Now that is
a mouthful,
but, this is a pretty big deal here.
They've revealed three new headphones,
including the world's first dual driver open earbuds.

(23:45):
All the products are set to launch today.
Named the Inspire range, the three products are
as follows, the Inspire x c one, the
x h one, and x p one.
Of course, they've got some Inspire x h
one headphones as well from Basus, b a
s u s.
So I don't fully understand. Ec h one

(24:06):
has sound by Bose supported high res audio.
So definitely a that doesn't sound like this
is Bose's company.
Name it's a division of because it's very,
very close in name.
Bose did the tuning on the
headphones, but bass, b a s e u
s,
is the name of the product. I don't

(24:28):
know what the exact relationship is there.
Link will be up in the show notes
for those of you that are audio fills.
ServiceNow,
which I'm a company I'm not familiar with,
signs, Uncle Sam's latest short term AI discount
deal.
US General Service Administration announced its latest one
gov deal with the workflow automation software firm

(24:48):
on Wednesday,
describing the region as one that will allow
to streamline a wild range of business process
a wild range of business processes.
If the mere serious unsourced projections mentioned by
the GSA are correct,
widespread adoption of ServiceNow AI tools can increase
agency workflow efficiency by up to 30%.
Just giving any government worker access to chat

(25:10):
GPT should increase their productivity by 50% in
my opinion, but,
what do I know?
Android drops mega patch bomb a 120 fixes,
but two of them have already been exploited.
So, this month,
this is a bit massive patch.
It's a far cry from July when Android
didn't issue a single patch.

(25:30):
The two biggest concerns are two high severity
problems in the Linux kernel and a high
severity issue with Android's runtime environment. Tacker could
escalate total privileges.
Google declined the name who exploiting the flaws
or house. I guess these are patches. These
aren't new
bugs. But, anyway,
link is the show notes on that. So

(25:52):
look for a patch
to be delivered at some point
by one of or if you got a
Samsung, it'll probably take them some time to
turn it around, etcetera. But if you got
a Pixel, you'll probably get it right away.
Roblox has spanned its use of age estimation
tech and introduces standardized ratings.
Amid lawsuits challenging,

(26:14):
alleging child safety concerns, online gaming service Roblox
announced on Wednesday that expanding its age estimation
tech to all users and partnering with the
International Age Rating Coalition
to provide Asian content ratings for the games
and apps on its platform.
So,
bowing to pressure here, the company said that
by year's end,

(26:35):
the age estimation
system will be rolled out to all users
who access the company's communication tools like voice
and text based chat. This involves scanning user
selfies, analyzing facial features to estimate age.
The age estimation text combined with other systems,
including ID, age verification, and verified parental consent
as well.
So, coming to a, Roblox

(26:58):
game near you and parental permission.
Congress a congress panel has thrown a cyber
threat intel sharing funding a lifeline.
The the House Homeland Security Committee advanced both
bills during a markup session on Wednesday, but
little time remains to have them signed a
law despite InfoSec luminaries deemed them critical components

(27:18):
of The US national security.
The federal government needs to be able to
collaborate closely and efficiently with private sector,
said retired US Navy Rear Admiral Mark Montgomery
also serves as senior director of Foundation Defense
of Democracy Center on Cyber and Technology Information.
So,

(27:39):
so, basically, this is the Cyber Information
Sharing Act of 02/2015.
If they get this passed, it'll extend it
for another
ten years. AKA CISA
could be extended until 2035.
The new bill references AI, which hasn't, wasn't
a top concern ten years ago. So,

(28:00):
some legislation in place to bring,
bring these folks back from, the death of
budget cuts.
Jerry slams Google over app data collection to
the tune of 425,000,000,
a class of nearly 100,000,000
Google users.
Claim the tech giant secret collected data even
after they disabled
the data collection in their Google account.

(28:21):
So if
this doesn't get appealed and if this gets
paid with a 100,000,000
people wanting this after the lawyers take their
cut, you might get $2
for your data privacy.
It just seems
unfair to an extent, doesn't it? But that's
what happens when a 100,000,000 people are included

(28:43):
in a,
class action lawsuit.
Bitcoin's record high is sparking a surge in
crypto scams, so be careful of the hype
around cryptocurrencies create a ripe environment for malicious
actors.
So, just pay attention to your stuff. A
lot of emails coming out
and,
a lot of people trying to get your

(29:04):
Bitcoin.
And, just,
be very, very careful out there in who
you're communicating with,
what you're clicking on, and etcetera, especially if
you have a significant amount. You know, you
probably need to put in significant amount of
security to make sure that no one's gonna
get to,
your crypto.

(29:25):
This is kinda cool. A robot walks on
water thanks to Evolution Solutions. Yes. Evolution's
solution.
It's called Ragabit,
and it isn't the first thing that comes
to mind at the mention of a robot,
but it's a water it's basically like a
water strider. It's a semi aquatic insects are

(29:45):
known as ripple bugs, and this thing does
the same thing.
So have fan like appendages towards the end
of the middle lakes that pass away open
and close depending on how the water beneath
them is moving.
So it basically
this little robot can, again, has can walk
on calm
water.
But, they're making stuff now that at this

(30:07):
size, it's it's it's pretty incredible indeed,
to consider
that they've got a robot that can essentially,
walk on water. The iPhone
Fold could be the first iPhone with a
truly all screen design, no notch or cut
out.
So the iPhone Fold reportedly have a 24
megapixel under display camera.

(30:27):
Given existing leaks, it just the phone will
use touch ID. That means it might have
an all screen design. It's unclear
whether one or both screens would have an
under display camera.
So, again, this continues to to make ripples.
Again, not expected this year with the announcement
on September 9,

(30:48):
but maybe we'll know. We'll know in about
a week.
The latest iPhone 17 Pro leaks point to
a brighter screen and better battery life.
Again, another iPhone
17 Pro and Pro Max leak has appeared.
And, of course, the phones will unveil this
coming Tuesday, so we don't have
long to wait for the, for the announcement.

(31:11):
Again, September 9 is when it will all
go down.
Some hackers have claimed to be behind the
Jaguar Jaguar
Land Rover cyber attack.
Scattered Lapsus hunters
have returned to the to the to the
limelight.
And,
basically, they're very they're very proud of their

(31:32):
hack, their cyber attack.
And,
they've been collectively,
bragging about it
on Telegram.
So,
again, this sent Jaguar and Land Rover
workers home for a few days as they
tried to recover their infrastructure.

(31:53):
Over at and I think this is the
first time I've ever, gotten an we found
an article from them. It's iflscience.com.
And,
you know, anytime we can find a new
website to promote, it doesn't load us up
with too many ads is always a good
thing. But astonishing restored photo show NASA's pre
Apollo mission in all their glory.

(32:15):
So
it looks like they colorized.
They've got Buzz Aldrin taking the first ever
selfie in space in 1966.
The original shot on the
on the right has been remastered
and given some color.
And then,
Alan Shepard, where he took his trip on
05/05/1961,

(32:38):
and,
a picture of him, a selfie of him.
And just remember, these folks were dealing with
big massive cameras at the time.
Pretty cool of us one of a spacewalk
as well, iconic photo.
Ed White during the first US Spacewalk in
1965.
And, he got his

(32:59):
picture taken. It's pretty incredible. It really, really
is in those early images.
And then, we see a Mercury capsule and
or it's a Gemini seven, excuse me, meaning
Gemini six
and the first off planet Rendezvous.
So, anyway, bunch of remastered stuff and, Earth
looking pretty nice,

(33:20):
from above.
Anyway, link will be in the show notes
as well. So, again, some of these pictures
go all the way back when we were
still using
film.
Yes. Film. Film that had to be developed.
Remember those days? My goodness.
Hitachi is gonna invest a billion dollars to
provide power grid components in The United States.

(33:43):
So,
more investment
to expand its US power grid infrastructure manufacturing
its energy unit said on Thursday as of
the country faces record electric demand.
Attached announced follows a push by the administration
to direct increase electric supply for the rapid
expansion of AI.
And,
matter of fact, where I'm going to in

(34:04):
Washington, Quincy,
Washington,
specifically to see my daughter.
Her husband works building data centers because there's
a big, huge
hydroelectric
dam that's close to there,
that provides power very, very inexpensive
and,
a lot of data centers being built,

(34:25):
in those general areas.
Apple, at the same time, expect to launch
an AI search engine to rival chat JPT,
and it could be powered by Google.
This is a rumor.
Future expected to launch in '26. Again, could
be powered by Google. IPhone 17 expect to
be unveiled next week.
So maybe we'll hear some hints on this,

(34:45):
next Tuesday as well. We will see.
The president's gonna be hosting the tech CEO
first ever event in the newly renovated Rose
Garden, which I think now is actually a
concrete pad with tables.
Rose gathering,
Rose Garden gathering is set to take place,

(35:05):
after tech leaders attend a White House event
on AI hosted by first lady Melania Trump.
So,
all the big dogs are there. We've got,
Sergey.
We've got,
Safra Katz. We've got,
Blue Origin CEO. We've got, Sanjay Mehrotra,

(35:27):
CEO of Micron Technology. Greg Brockman, president of
OpenAI.
Satella Nadella,
Vivek Randhavai.
So, yeah, some heavy, heavy hitters. David Sacks
of EC, Jared Isaacman,
and, of course, Elon will be there as
well. So,
I believe that happens tomorrow.

(35:50):
Alright.
The company that I yeah. I don't know
how many of you are familiar, and I
always have a hard time saying this company's
name. Atlassian, a t l a s s
I a, and I use their products. I
use their Jira product.
But Atlassia has agreed to buy the browser
company, which is behind the Arc and DIA
web browser.
OpenAI and Perplexi both reported looked at acquiring

(36:11):
a start up, but Atlassia, whose Jira project
management software depends on browsers, wants to enhance
the startup's technology drawing on the experience selling
to big companies. Well, I don't need a
browser.
I just need your Jira software management, and,
we use it heavily. I'm in
Jira daily. We use it for,
all of our

(36:31):
task assignments, sprint planning, the whole nine yards.
China's DeepSeek is prepping an AI agent for
the '25
2025
to rival OpenAI.
Again,
my advice, stay as far away from this
thing as you possibly can. You're only asking
yourself for a lot of trouble in utilizing
their,

(36:53):
that,
language model. And something surprising here, this is
a good news. Adobe Premiere video editing
an Adobe Premiere video editor
is coming to the iPhone for free.
The free video editor launches on iOS this
month, and an Android version is coming later.
So you're gonna be able to create cuts,

(37:13):
create just some custom sound effects, edit and
export,
and send directly to a variety
of
apps including TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Instagram, etcetera.
And they're gonna include automatic resizing the frames
for each platform, so making it easier to
do everything
right on your device.
So, exciting stuff, forthcoming as well. Hey, folks.

back here a week from today. As again,
as I head off to Quincy, Washington, my
hair is warm.
So maybe I'll get a few extra days
of shorts to wear this year. I've been
wearing pants for, like, the last
four or five days here. It's just been
ridiculously cold. So,
it's I'm not ready for winter yet, but
feels like winter's coming already. Alright, everyone. Thank
you so much. We'll see you next time

(39:02):
here on the Geekness Central podcast. Everyone, take
care. Bye bye.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
