Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Oh what's going on everybody? We got twenty five followed
by two. We'll let you know what the heck that's
all about. We are broadcasting live from the tirec dot
Com studios. Tirack dot com will help catch you there
an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road hazard protection,
and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tirack dot com the
(00:24):
way tire buying should be. So lot's going on here.
That's a hardball if you will, Little London Action Redbirds
finally beat the Cubs, so they split their two games
set across the pond, And right now we've got the Angels.
They scored twenty five runs yesterday they beat the Rockies
(00:46):
twenty five to one, and then today hashtag baseball, they're
trailing four to two. So they scored twenty one runs
in two innings last night. They have two runs in
nearly eight innings so far today, So that's just kind
(01:07):
of the way it goes from time to time. But
at any event, the Angels are still battling the Rockies
as we speak. They're bigger fish to fry outside of
baseball here, and that would be trades galore in the NBA,
and most notably that would be our guy, Chris Paul.
(01:28):
He is on his way to the Golden State Warriors,
which I did not foresee what soever. I did not
see that coming, and it is. It's a great reminder
if it's rumored to be, there's a good chance it
won't be. That's one of the things to take away
from this. But Chris Paul a member of the Golden
(01:49):
State Warriors, A George Reister, happy Sunday to you. Did
you think we'd be here talking about CP I don't
know CP three alongside Steph Curry and everybody up maybe
Draymond We don't know about that. But he is going
to the bay over there as a member of the Warriors.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
Man, listen, I love it. I love it.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
I could not love it anymore. I think it's good
for everybody involved. I think that they are that when
it comes to the let's just break this down by entity.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
No so for entity, you're busted out the big words already.
I like, let's go.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
So for the Golden State Warriors, they get an opportunity
and for Steph Curry, he gets an opportunity to play
off the ball more and that's going to be a
nightmare for teams with him and Clay just running off
of screens, and I mean that sounds like a difficult
place to cover. But then you can't sag off of
CP three because he can hit three pointers and he
(02:51):
can score in the lane at the elbows.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
He's dangerous. And then for CP three, it takes so much.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
Pressure off of him because he doesn't have to be
one of your top three scores. You got Wiggins, you
got Steph and Clay, so now he doesn't. So now
his workload during the season he can be twenty four
minutes a game, which should keep him active enough and
healthy enough to where he can be healthy during the postseason.
(03:20):
And then they break up the Jordan pool of Draymond
Green things, so now they can bring Draymond Green back.
But the biggest and then for Jordan Poole, Jordan Poole
gets exactly what he wants to know. He gets exactly
what he wants and he's gonna come to regret it.
But sometimes you got to figure that out. Where he
(03:42):
wants to be the man. He wants everything, all the
trappings that you know being the man come with. He's like, listen,
I was a twenty point night, so I can do
what Steph does and then he's gonna realize.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
That it ain't as easy as he thought. Should we
call him? Is this like a Kyrie junior type situation?
Speaker 4 (04:04):
What?
Speaker 2 (04:04):
No, no, no, I'm just to hear me out. When
Kyrie Irving wanted to go away from Lebron and be
the man, and that's a whole different set of pressure
right there. Like, that's what I'm saying. From that standpoint,
I think we're seeing that with Jordan Poole.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
Yes, yes, see, now I can understand it and see
it from that perspective because because Kyrie did want to
step away, be his own man and all that stuff.
But the difference is that is that Kyrie is one
of the seventy five greatest players of all time. Yeah,
no doubt it's Jordan Poole makes bad mistakes, bad turnovers.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
Yeah he's wreck.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
I'm not putting them on the same.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
Okay, okay, but but but yeah, where like whether he
wants to put his big boy pants on? Yes, very
similar to Kyrie. And Kyrie now has figured out like
oh okay, yeah, like I was I was tripping, that
was tripping, like let's not. And sometimes I think that
those things get lost because ego is in the way,
(05:06):
because you're.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
Like, I need to have my own team, I need
to be the man.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
When you can get the love, adoration and recognition in
playing with somebody else, great, Like if him and Lebron
had stayed together, Yes, Lebron would have taken the lion's
share it a.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
Light, but Kyrie would have got way more.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
They would they had, like Jordan Pippen potential in that
like Pippen is not slighted. The only reason why Pippen
gets slighted now is because he's slighting Mike. Right, people
are defending Mike, so then that causes them the slander Pippen.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
Why, Yeah, totally, I'm with you. It just depends on
which role do you want to play, right, Like Kyrie
wanted to play the Batman role. So I hear you.
We think of Jordan and Pippen as a tandem. You know,
we don't think of Pippen as like some Joe Schmo.
But if Pippen wanted to be Batman, if Kyrie wanted
(06:06):
to be Batman, as crazy as it sounds, like winning
multiple rings in the robin role that's not what Kyrie
at least desired. So I get that, But like you said,
you give it a couple of years, you look and
you're like, you know what, how about we team up
so much?
Speaker 3 (06:24):
Yes, it's so much ego involved in it, and you
and you mess stuff up because Kyrie went for forty one,
the same game that Lebron went for forty one. That's
not Batman and Robin. That's Batman, Batman men. Yes, yes,
that's Batman. There's no And I think that it's just
(06:45):
like singing groups. How many times do we see great
singing groups break up and people go solo and then
they have all right solo careers and then when they're
fifty some years old, what happens.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
No, well, it's you could do the Kyrie thing of like,
let's do it to it exactly.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
They're back making music together because that's the only way
to get money.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
And think about this too, how often does someone in
the Robin role leave and then ascend to Batman somewhere else? Right,
if you're going down the music path, let's use Destiny's
Child over here, right, So the band breaks up, they
move on. It's like the other girls that weren't Beyonce.
(07:30):
They had some decent songs here and there, they never
went and ascend it to that primo level.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
Right, that wasn't their choice though Beyonce made that choice
for them.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
Well fine, but the point still remains it, Yes, correct,
the Robin's stayed Robins, right, like, they didn't go to
the next level as a batman. So yeah, you take
that into account. Now if you look at Jordan Poole,
Jordan Pool, it's amazing how one season turned everything around.
About this, George, It's just a little over a year ago,
(08:03):
Jordan Bull was making a major contribution as the Warriors
beat the Celtics.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
Focused.
Speaker 3 (08:09):
Yea, he was doing everything. That's why think about like
it's it's all. Remember when people were outraged that that
he got punched by by Draymond Green.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
Right, If you notice, I.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
Was trying to tell people, pay attention to the reaction,
not from the media, pay attention to the reaction from
the team.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
Pay attention to the reaction from the players. Did you hear.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
Any of the players or anybody from the team really
come out and scorch Draymond Green?
Speaker 2 (08:49):
No?
Speaker 3 (08:51):
Why because because I've been on teams, Dude, this was
a code red. This was a he's getting too big
for britches right and somebody's And I don't think that
they that They were like, yo, Draymond, you need you
need to handle this. I think this was one of
those bro we we all sick. It is blah blah
(09:12):
blah and d and Draymond was like say.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
Less, He's I'll take care of it. Ye, don't worry,
I'll take what I'll take care of that. Yeah, And
it just shows you. It was just one season later,
George and Jordan Poole, who is twenty four years old,
he's twenty four, he gets traded for Chris Paul who's
thirty eight. Like that that tells you everything you need
(09:37):
to know about how broken things were between Pool and
the Warriors.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
Yes, and they were like, oh, this dude's not a
winning basketball player. I mean there, that's probably the biggest
thing is that they're like, we we don't feel like
we can win like that he's playing winning basketball and
he's not.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
He's playing basketball.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
He's out there playing like it's it's like you know
when you see somebody playing and like they're good playground
and not because Jordan Poole could shoot the ball. He's
got good, good handles, he's elusive, can do all those things.
He's a terrible defender, terrible but and a lot of that.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
Is due to effort. So that's one thing. He's terrible
at that.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
But it it feels like he's always on the no
playing plan.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
Well, and that's the other thing. You go back to
the series against your Lakers, Game one, and there's enough
time to swing it around, maybe get a better look,
better shot, and he pulls from deep and not only
did he miss, he missed badly. And you see what
this guy do.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
Where's the high IQ plays, right?
Speaker 3 (10:56):
I mean, like you don't really see a lot of
high IQ play out of him where he was setting
something up. Like he's good at making things happen sometimes,
but there's a difference between making.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
Something happen and then in the and then in the.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
Postseason when you have to be organized, you have to
follow the game plan. You're like, all right, so we
have to make sure that we're getting to the elbows here,
and then when we get to the elbows, here's what's
gonna happen. X, Y and Z, Like you constantly see
that happen. Oh my god, Yeah, are you watching this
(11:35):
college World Series?
Speaker 2 (11:36):
Well, we got to come back trail for LSU.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
No, Bro, they are just playing at home Run. No,
they're home Run Derby. Right, this is like three back
to back over as.
Speaker 4 (11:46):
I believe it is just they.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
I help you bet the over, George. I hope you
bet the over in game two here.
Speaker 3 (11:54):
I mean, but it is only the top of the
sixth inning, and we've seen some strange things happen in
the World series.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
Man, I think we're going to see a game three.
That's what I think we're gonna see. There's not gonna
be some strange chaos this game. Now when Florida's is
just mashing home runs left and right, let's see. I'll
get you a shoot. We don't have an endgame over, George,
we play well.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
To go back though to what we were talking about,
I do not like and I do believe Jordan Poole
is talented. I think that when he knew he was
getting ready to get get money and get paid, he
started acting brand new, and the team didn't like that
because they have a culture, they have a way of
(12:38):
doing things, and I think that he did no longer
want it to align with those things. And when and
when you heard Steve Kirk come out on Draymond's podcast
and talk about the Miami heat and he said, Oh,
it's amazing what you can do when when people aren't
on the bench pouting about playing time.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
Yeah, that's damning right there. Right, it's a little bit
like the I don't want to switch too much up
on you here, but it's a little bit like the
Kyler Murray situation. Right, the Arizona Cardinals quarterback. You don't
hear a whole lot of people come out and say, no, no, no,
you have it wrong. This dude is leadership defined.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
You know.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
Not too many people come out and say that about
the guy. And it's like, man, it seems like where
there's smoke, there's fire. As far as Jordan Boole goes,
you could speak to this too, George, think about it.
Jordan Boole is not a stupid guy at all. No,
And so when Draymond punches him, he knows no one
else is standing up and worse for him and worse off.
(13:41):
He's like, oh, it's kind of like all y'all ordered
the code red.
Speaker 3 (13:48):
Somebody jumped on Draymond really came to like to his defense.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
It was just kind of more like, oh yeah.
Speaker 2 (13:56):
So I can see where he might think there's one
or two paths you could take that could be awakening.
And you're like, Okay, if all you guys feel this way,
there must be something to it. I'm going to check
my ego at the door. I'm back on board. Let's
be professionals here, right, or you could go the other way,
(14:16):
like it's all of you guys against me, really, And
I think that's the path that went down because he
never did get back on track.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
Mean yeah, because this season was not like it was
in the opposite direction of where his trajectory was headed.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
Totally no doubt about that out.
Speaker 3 (14:36):
And now now that he's traded, which way is he
gonna go? Is he gonna go? I mean, I wonder
if he believes that he's gonna go to Washington and
turn into James Harden when James Harden left Oklahoma City
where he's no, I'm.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
Serious where I don't.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
I couldn't tell you what he's thinking right now.
Speaker 3 (14:58):
Yeah, if he thinks, you know, I'm gonna go there,
I'm finna beat a man. I'm finna average thirty. Everybody's
talking about Shake Guild of Alexander. I can do with
shake guild of Axander's doing. I'm gonna get to the
free throw line ten times a game, easy work, ninety
two percent, swish, make them up, and I'm gonna go
out there and I'm gonna make all NBA, make the
all start there.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
I wonder if that's what he's thinking.
Speaker 3 (15:21):
And with with without a change in philosophy.
Speaker 4 (15:26):
If that makes sense.
Speaker 2 (15:27):
Yeah, yeah, well, uh, you know, I'm sure he's looking
at it positively to a point, and he probably is
thinking that I'm just gonna go out and go freaking
crazy and let's just see where things go from there.
But we'll get back to Chris Paul. That's the real
heart of the matter is do you love the trade?
Speaker 1 (15:45):
Do you like it?
Speaker 2 (15:46):
Are you skeptical? We'll get to that here in about
fifteen minutes. But right around the corner, does the NFL
need to make a major change when another league has
done so and it seems to be working out quite nicely.
We'll get to that right around the corner. I'm Brian know,

(17:20):
I'm gonna take a wild guess and assume you were
not watching the USFL playoff game last night? Is that correct?
Speaker 1 (17:29):
What? Wait?
Speaker 3 (17:31):
Do you have to And I'm not being I didn't
even know the USFL was playing right now, to be.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
Honest, So that that means you were not, in fact
watching the correct I got it.
Speaker 4 (17:43):
I got you.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
I wasn't either. I wasn't either. But there was an
interesting last night.
Speaker 3 (17:46):
I was actually at the I was that I was
at the country club last night.
Speaker 2 (17:52):
You were at the Were you wearing the rolex at
the country club there?
Speaker 1 (17:55):
George? I actually did not take the rolex to the
country club.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
No, no flexing. You can't flex on top of a flex.
Speaker 3 (18:02):
Actually met accidentally a friend up there on accident, so
it turned out.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
To be like a triple date. Okay, and hung out
there till you know late.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
You know it was it was nice, hung hung out
on the patio underneath the heat the heat lamps, and yeah,
had dinner, some some some.
Speaker 1 (18:27):
Night caps and yeah it was good.
Speaker 3 (18:29):
So a girls not worried about anything that was going
on in the uf USFL last night.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
So it's safe to say you had a better evening
doing what you did than staying at home watching the USFL.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
Yeah, I would gather the same thing. But there was
something interesting that happened. Pro Football Talk had this story,
and so they basically have a sky judge in the
us FL. Okay, and so there was a critical moment
in the playoff game last night, and it leads to
a topic of does the NFL need this all? Now
here's the scenario, George. This is a playoff game to
(19:03):
determine who goes to the championship game.
Speaker 1 (19:06):
Oh so this is mooey.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
This is incredibly important. This is like Championship Sunday for
the NFL. Okay, it's the final four. And so Michigan
they are trailing, they're losing twenty to seventeen. There's just
over two minutes to play. They throw a fifty five
yard touchdown pass to take the lead. Okay, there's a penalty.
(19:29):
There's a face mask on an offensive lineman. But because
they have a sky judge, Mike Pereira, he reviews the penalty.
He says, oh no, that's not actually a face mask.
We reverse the call. It's a touchdown like the NFL
doesn't have that. If it's ruled a face mask, the
touchdown is negated and the offensive team they're still trailing
(19:52):
in the game with just over two minutes to play.
So the question is should the NFL go right down
this road? Have long been on board with the sky
judge in the NFL, George, not to fix every single
little tiny thing that isn't ruled correctly, but we got
to have something in place to fix the major stuff.
And if this is okay, Championship Sunday in the NFL
(20:15):
and a touchdowns negated because of a phantom face mask,
that can't be the scenario.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
So with that being said, where do you think I
stand on this?
Speaker 2 (20:27):
I don't know, Because you're a maverick, George. Sometimes I
feel confident where you stand, and other times I really
don't know.
Speaker 1 (20:34):
I don't know which side. Let me give you a little.
Speaker 3 (20:36):
Bit of background and then you tell me what you think. Okay,
I am a I do not believe replay in general
has stopped what people thought it would, which was stop
arguing about calls because we'll be able to get them right.
(20:57):
I am not in favor of the expand of replay,
none of that. So so with that being said, where
would you guess I stand on this?
Speaker 2 (21:06):
I think you're anti sky judge based on that. But
is there a curveball coming?
Speaker 1 (21:10):
Yes, there is.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
I am in on the sky judge, you I am.
I am in on retracting the replay, right.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
I think that two things need to be replayed.
Speaker 3 (21:23):
I mean that that need to have that quick replay
that you don't stop the game for it, which is
turnovers in scoring plays. Those should automatically be reviewed, which
I'm good at, which I'm one hundred percent good with.
But beyond that, sky Judge, sky Judge should fix egregious errors.
Speaker 1 (21:43):
And that's it.
Speaker 3 (21:44):
And and sometimes it's sports. You got to just play
with your trouble. Sometimes the referees and umpires are not
going to be perfect.
Speaker 4 (21:54):
I like that.
Speaker 1 (21:55):
And that's actually one of the things that.
Speaker 3 (21:58):
I do like about the NFL that's different than college
right is that, Yeah, that's different than college football.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
In that college footble, they're trying to get every single
call right. In the NFL, got play the troubles.
Speaker 4 (22:15):
That's right.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
Well, that's the thing is, let's start with first things first.
There will always be controversy if you don't have replay controversy.
If you have replay right now, yeah, still controversy. Even
if you have a sky judge, there will be telling.
Speaker 1 (22:29):
You about yeah, the minutia, right.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
There will be times where a major call is changed
and then another call that's wrong is just left the
way it is, and it's gonna be well, why didn't
you fix that? How do you say that's not important
one yet? There's always going to be controversy. But if
you have a system in place that can correct the
obvious flaws, the complete missed ones. Think about the Saints
(22:56):
in the rams where there's the non call where it's
clearly pass interference, you know, just something in place where
there's a face mask that was missed.
Speaker 3 (23:05):
Yeah, yeah, How how about when Armando Galarraga got his
perfect game ruin.
Speaker 2 (23:15):
That's right, it should have been a perfect game.
Speaker 1 (23:18):
Oh brute.
Speaker 3 (23:19):
That was one of the worst that i've I mean,
Jim Jim Joyce, Yeah, oh god, that I mean, that
was so bad and I know he felt bad. I
don't think it was intentional that he just screwed up.
And there there should have been a mechanism for somebody
to be like no, he's say let's go home people.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
Right, especially with it being the final out, very final
out game. Yeah, this wasn't the eighth inning or anything.
Galarraga was great handling that. But yeah, I think in
the NFL, well, cool on board. We're both on board
with the s guy.
Speaker 3 (23:54):
He should get an asterisk perfect game on that one.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
He that really is a game. But you know, because
it was the last out.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
Had it had it been the first had it been
the ninth inning and that had had been the first out, Nope,
sorry sucks. But being that it was the last out,
good throw. He caught the ball like that everything needed
to happen to end the game. The I believe the
Commissioner of Baseball should have said, nope, no, that it's perfect.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
It's actually a perfect game. This is what Jason Garrett,
NBC analyst. He was doing the USFL game last night, George,
and because the sky judge reversed the call, touchdown was
ruled good and Michigan took the lead. Garrett said, I
hope some NFL decision makers are watching this game because
what Mike Perera did to clean up that call, to
(24:48):
make sure the call was right in the critical moments
of a divisional game for the right to go to
the championship game. It just makes the game so much better,
and it's an easy mechanism. Mike Perera and the crew
handled it the right way, and there's justice. It's something
that the NFL should look at. Absolutely. I'm totally on board.
(25:08):
We have a different we have different arguments getting to
the sky Judge, George, but we're both at the destination
of the sky Judge. So it feels good. Feels good
to be yeah, shoulder to shoulder with you instead of
bare knuckle nineteen twenties fist fighting with you like we
tend to do every now and then. You know, feels
good to be unified from time to time. All Right,
(25:30):
we are unified completely with Moncey Bolango. She is with
us today and we could not be more excited. Moncy,
what's going on here? I mob any too.
Speaker 7 (25:44):
Denis, cause its Georgie. Now you don't want to talk Spanish,
You were all muimportante.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
Well, well listen, listen.
Speaker 3 (25:55):
I'm actually I had to look because I got a
text message in asking for my Fleck Frequent Flower number
because we're booking, uh, the vacation to the Dominican.
Speaker 8 (26:09):
Can you stop flexing right now?
Speaker 1 (26:11):
How am I flexing?
Speaker 7 (26:13):
I'm just booking my flight to the Dominican so I
was listening to.
Speaker 8 (26:17):
You stop flexing?
Speaker 1 (26:19):
How do I flex? Marthy? You ask the question Gorgian?
Speaker 2 (26:22):
Do you literally flex while you're entering in the travel
information for your upcoming flex?
Speaker 1 (26:30):
How do flex?
Speaker 3 (26:31):
I'm just telling normal stories, like stories that happened in
my in my life.
Speaker 1 (26:37):
How does that make it a flex?
Speaker 2 (26:38):
Because you tell me when you do it on purpose?
Speaker 8 (26:41):
Right you?
Speaker 1 (26:42):
Uh?
Speaker 7 (26:42):
No, no, No, Flexing can be done without doing it
on purpose. Flexing can be done because you you flex
so much you don't even realize it.
Speaker 8 (26:51):
Sure, you don't realize it. That's why you're like, what
are you talking about? Because you do it.
Speaker 7 (26:57):
So remember when you were like, I have to pay
for seven houses this.
Speaker 3 (27:02):
Where were you want to come to the country club
with me, with you and the boyfriend?
Speaker 2 (27:07):
Yes, I would love to.
Speaker 7 (27:09):
I would love to count me in all right, and
to win it. And so are the Florida Gators. Guys,
they won't stop scoring. They just hit back to back
home runs against the LSU Tigers. Thirteen to three is
the score top of the seventh innings. Maybe they'll have
twenty five like the Angels did last night. But at
least the Rockies tried to redeem themselves. They beat the
(27:30):
Angels today four to three. The Angels outscored the Rockies
thirty two to twelve in this weekend three game series,
and they still lost two out of three games. Like how,
I don't, It's incredible how that happens?
Speaker 8 (27:44):
I can't. I can't.
Speaker 7 (27:46):
The Twins outscored the Tigers six to three in ten innings,
and the Brewers beat the Guardians five, four and ten innings.
Cleveland is now two games behind Minnesota Minnesota for the
top spot in the AL Central Right now, two games
going on in Major League Baseball, Diamond beating the Giants
two to one top of the seventh inning in the
Nationals have scored first against the Padres one zero, bottom
(28:07):
of the fifth in San Diego.
Speaker 8 (28:09):
Let's talk about the NBA center.
Speaker 7 (28:11):
Nas Reed and the Timberwoofs have agreed to a three year,
forty two million dollar deal, and bleach her Report just
tweeted that Minnesota is paying their center trio of Rudy Gobert,
Karl Anthony Towns and NOAs around four hundred and forty
three million combined those three centers. Chris Haynes reported earlier
today that the Suns are moving forward with the plan
(28:32):
of keeping DeAndre Eton to play alongside Devin Booker, Kevin Durant,
Bradley Beal terrible decision, I digress. Mark Stein is reporting
that the Grizzlies had strong interests in Draymond Green and
we're planning to pursue him before trading for Marcus Smart
and Victor Wembanyama.
Speaker 8 (28:48):
It was tweeted earlier today.
Speaker 7 (28:50):
I think it was on ESPN that he gave his
five starters to save the planet from the Monstars, you know,
like in Space Jam the Monstars.
Speaker 8 (29:00):
So his five starters to save the planet.
Speaker 7 (29:03):
Steph Curry, Michael Jordan Lebron, James, Tim Duncan, and Shock.
Speaker 8 (29:10):
That's a good.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
Team, not a bad.
Speaker 8 (29:12):
Team, right. I agree. I was. That's a good team.
Speaker 3 (29:16):
That's a lot better than anything Brandon Himber would have
put together.
Speaker 8 (29:20):
I was thinking of that exactly, so I would take
that team. Why not back to you guys, Thank.
Speaker 2 (29:26):
You, Moncey, Yeah, well done. I'm probably no, he's George Reister,
You're on Fox Sports Radio. That's a little sneak beak
into According to Monci here where she gave us that
little uh DeAndre Ayton back with the Suns.
Speaker 8 (29:38):
It actually is why.
Speaker 2 (29:41):
It is? Yeah, okay, I had to change it.
Speaker 7 (29:43):
When I read this earlier today, I was like, oh,
we gotta talk about this one.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
So what are your thoughts about that? George? We've got
what the big four? Well, we got the big three
plus DeAndre maybe we could put that. Put it that way.
We've got Kad, Devin Booker, you get Brad be all
over there, you keep de Andre Eyton. How do you
fill the rest of the team, Honey, April roster?
Speaker 3 (30:07):
Thank you know, the math ain't math in. The math
ain't math in. When you add up all four of
those salaries, that adds up to it, I believe one
hundred and sixty two million dollars between four players.
Speaker 1 (30:22):
Do you know what the hard gap is?
Speaker 2 (30:24):
It's well, the first the salary cap is one thirty six.
The first apron is one seventy two.
Speaker 4 (30:31):
So you touched the fat.
Speaker 1 (30:32):
I thought the apron was one sixty two.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
I think it's one seventy two. But that means if
you are over that, you don't have that mid level exception,
and then there are further penalties if you get to
that second apron.
Speaker 3 (30:45):
Oh sorry, sorry, the first apron is one sixty five
point nine four.
Speaker 2 (30:52):
Man, we got it. We got decimals and all kinds
of It's okay, fine, it's around that area.
Speaker 3 (30:57):
Yeah, yes, But at the end of the day, on
their active they're active top three, they're already at one
hundred and thirty million dollars.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
And then and then you add in Bradley Beal.
Speaker 3 (31:14):
Dude, this team is oh, this is insanity, bro, And
there is no way that they're gonna be able to
field the rest of the roster. It's not even they
that's four players. You you need fifteen under contract. And yet
so they're for sure going to have at least one
open roster spot, maybe have to have two.
Speaker 1 (31:38):
They want.
Speaker 3 (31:41):
This, and they're like, oh, you can get veterans to
come play for cheap. Yes, you can get veterans to
come play for cheap, But are you gonna get veterans
who can contribute to come play for the league minimum?
Speaker 7 (31:53):
Right?
Speaker 1 (31:54):
I mean, like, I.
Speaker 3 (31:55):
Mean, I guess Blake Griffin might go down there. He
didn't add any value his team last.
Speaker 2 (32:02):
Year, right, that's not gonna make a difference.
Speaker 1 (32:04):
They're like, Jeff Green.
Speaker 3 (32:06):
Do you think Jeff Green's going to go play for
the minimum just to go play down there? He just
won a championship, He's got multiple championships. He doesn't need
to play for minimums.
Speaker 2 (32:14):
Well, And that's the thing too, is look, man, we
get that they're top heavy. We totally understand that, and
that isn't necessarily automatically horrible. But if you look at all,
super teams are not created equally. And if you look
at Kevin Durant, he's been banged up quite a bit.
He was banged up last season. As a matter of fact,
you look at Bradley Beal, he's been banged up the
(32:35):
last couple of seasons. He only played fifty games last year.
So if you're starting to see attrition, if you're starting
to see the injury bug coupled with no bench, that
is not a sexy combination right there at all. And
DeAndre Ayden is significantly overbaid.
Speaker 3 (32:55):
He should, dude, he should be okay, Like that's the
fresh like he should be fine.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
Here.
Speaker 3 (33:04):
There should be nothing wrong with DeAndre. He has every
skill set in his bag. He can stick a mid
range jumper. He can drible the ball a little bit.
He has hops, he's strong, he's fast. But you know what,
he's unwilling. That's the most important thing.
Speaker 2 (33:21):
He's like, you know what he is, George, He's like
a wide receiver. He's like Stefan Digs in a way.
If Stefan Diggs doesn't get his targets early, it's like
he's starting to check out a little bit.
Speaker 3 (33:32):
No, that's not even the thing he's he's unwilling to
do the most important thing that you need to do
in the NBA to be a big time scorer, which
is take contact and get to the free throw line.
Speaker 2 (33:43):
Yeah. Hey, our trusted producer Bo Benson's got a theory here.
Speaker 9 (33:47):
Yeah. So we all remember a couple of weeks ago
when Mike Dunleavy Junior was introduced as GiMA the Warriors, Right, No,
he said, he said, you know, Jordan Poole, we just
signed him to a big deal. He's obviously in our plans,
and then they trade him away a week and a
half later. I think whoever told Chris Haynes that DeAndre
Ayton is definitely in their plans, I think he was
(34:08):
maybe lying.
Speaker 2 (34:08):
To hey, Hey, could be the case. We've seen this before.
Is this like Nick Saban, I'm not going anywhere, and
then he's at Alabama that sort of the yeah, could
be the case. Just because they say he's not going elsewhere,
it doesn't mean for sure he isn't going elsewhere. So
that is something to keep in mind right there. If
you don't move Aighton, Let's put it this way, George,
(34:31):
you are completely That is the last bit of maneuverability
you have is to move DeAndre Ayton and hey, listen,
depending on who's out there, and you look at it
closely and say, all right, we could make this move,
but we don't think this move is actually gonna help
us more than keeping DeAndre Ayton. Okay, at the end
(34:52):
of the day, they could keep the guy. But that
is the last major piece you have to shake up
the core of your or the bench of your roster.
Speaker 1 (35:02):
Think about this.
Speaker 3 (35:03):
No, they owned every single one of their draft picks
in perpetuity forever and ever they got prior to getting Yes,
prior to getting Kevin Durant.
Speaker 1 (35:16):
Now they don't.
Speaker 3 (35:17):
They don't have control of their own draft pick till
twenty thirty one.
Speaker 2 (35:21):
It's crazy because it was Kevin Durant.
Speaker 3 (35:23):
Will be forty two, Booker will be done playing for them, dude,
everybody will be gone, Like, how dude, this is no
different than what Brooklyn did.
Speaker 1 (35:37):
This is a get rich quick scheme.
Speaker 2 (35:40):
Don't work, And there are so many others like this
is the Raptors thing. They did, the get rich scheme,
and the planets absolutely aligned and the warriors were dropping
like flies getting injured. And you've seen so many teams
try to take the Raptors model or variation of it,
hoping for the same and you see example after example
(36:01):
after example where it doesn't work like that. And this
could be another chapter in that book. We'll see all right,
coming up next, we get to according to Moncy, already
got the sneak beak. Now you get you saw the
movie trailer. Now it's time for the movie that's coming up.
I'm Brian No, he's George Reister. This is Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (36:20):
Hey, I love it here.
Speaker 2 (36:21):
I'm Brian No. He's George Reister here on Fox Sports Radio.
We don't have time to miss, we don't have time
to waste, we don't have time. Let's dive right on
in here, Corrin and.
Speaker 5 (36:32):
Now it's time for absolutely.
Speaker 1 (36:35):
That's according to Moncy. I love it all right.
Speaker 2 (36:39):
According to Moncey, the Suns need to break up what
DeAndre Ayden.
Speaker 7 (36:45):
I don't know how this is not obvious. I cannot
believe that they're going through with this. You guys are
talking about the money. That's not even really the issue.
I see Ayton wants to be the man, and then
he plays he's a seven footer and he plays like
he's six too, and then he acts like he's.
Speaker 8 (37:00):
Twelve x right. It's like, it's not even about the money.
You don't need a DeAndre Ayton who is useless when
you have all of these scores.
Speaker 7 (37:10):
You need somebody that's willing to do whatever the team needs, somebody.
Speaker 8 (37:13):
Like a bam Atta Bio. I'm not saying trade for him.
Speaker 7 (37:14):
I'm just saying, like somebody that is willing to do
whatever the team needs, and he is not like that.
It is evident Many Williams may have not been the
best coach. You could argue that his play calling wasn't
the best, but universally loved. Everybody loved Many Williams, no
matter what the fact that they didn't speak during last
year's off season is all you need to.
Speaker 8 (37:35):
Know about DeAndre Ayden. He is the problem.
Speaker 7 (37:38):
He should be singing that Taylor Swift song It's me,
I'm the problem. It's me you, It is you, DeAndre Aiden,
you need to go.
Speaker 1 (37:44):
According to Moncy, I.
Speaker 3 (37:48):
Got questions about this cord Manci so oh no, it's
not okay to rub a pregnant woman's belly.
Speaker 7 (37:58):
Unless it's your pregnant woman. That's different. Now, if you
impregnated the lady, that's fine, okay.
Speaker 2 (38:04):
Grandfathered in, your grandfathered in.
Speaker 7 (38:06):
There is a video online that shows Lebron James rubby
Rihanna's very exposed pregnant belly at Paris Fashion Week. It's
a little bit awkward. I don't think she liked it.
And he doesn't just put his hand on it. Guid's like,
delicately he like rubs it, and you're like, my guy,
there's something wrong with it. Yes, girls don't like to
be touched, especially when they're pregnant. First of all, ask
(38:28):
if you ask, maybe okay, But most of the time
women don't like it.
Speaker 8 (38:32):
In fact, I remember my best friends when they were pregnant.
Speaker 7 (38:34):
They're like, I can't even stand my kids touching me
let alone, a stranger or somebody random or somebody who's
my kind of friend touching my belly and she's so pregnant,
she's so pregnant right now, and.
Speaker 8 (38:45):
It's just like my guy, don't do this.
Speaker 7 (38:47):
If you guys are listening, don't rub a pregnant woman's belly, listen,
she's just worst woman.
Speaker 2 (38:52):
Which is worth Moonzie running over and petting someone's dogs,
And some people want you to ask permission? Or is
it running over and petting a pregnant woman's belly?
Speaker 7 (39:00):
Pregnant woman's belly a thousand times one, one hundred percent.
And also, don't ever tell a woman unless you know
one hundred percent she's pregnant like you and pregnated her.
Speaker 8 (39:08):
How far long are you? When are you? Dude? Never
never ever do that. Watch the video.
Speaker 7 (39:13):
I don't think we really like this, this whole uh
rub rubbing the belly thing from.
Speaker 1 (39:17):
We were ready to find out many had a baby?
Speaker 8 (39:20):
Absolutely not never, ever, never.
Speaker 1 (39:23):
According to Monsey, I think.
Speaker 9 (39:25):
I think this might be the most times you ever
said impregnated on this station here. According to Manzi, Jordan
Poole scored some brownie points.
Speaker 7 (39:33):
Yes he did, Okay, he gets punched by Draymond Green.
Never the same for the Warriors. He doesn't play the
same now he's no longer a Warrior.
Speaker 8 (39:40):
He gets straight into.
Speaker 7 (39:41):
The Wizards and decides to celebrate by unfollowing the guy
who punched him on social media. That is the type
of energy we all need. He didn't go on some
podcasts and say all of these things. He told us
very loudly with the one click, and that's how you
do it.
Speaker 8 (39:58):
You go, Jordan.
Speaker 7 (39:59):
Poole, lame for that.
Speaker 10 (40:01):
No, no, that's the way to do it.
Speaker 1 (40:05):
He's lame for still following him in the process.
Speaker 7 (40:08):
But they were teammates and people, well, on a second,
people would have dissected that if he would have if
he was already following him before the punch, gets punched
and then unfollows him.
Speaker 8 (40:20):
That's bad.
Speaker 2 (40:21):
That almost sounded like pushback right there. According to Monti,
that unbelievable. Coming up next, it was entertaining. Is it helpful?
There's no doubt this is an entertaining move, But is
it also a helpful move? We will dive into that.
We are broadcasting live from the tire rack dot Com
(40:44):
studios tire rack dot Com. We'll help get you there
an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road hazard protection,
and over ten thousand recommended installers tire rack dot com
the way tire buying should be. So, George, what do
you have for it?
Speaker 3 (41:00):
You are a at sometimes admitted.
Speaker 1 (41:05):
Degenerate in the gambling area, right.
Speaker 2 (41:08):
That's right, car carrying member.
Speaker 3 (41:10):
Yes, okay, so then you may be able to tell
me who these what sport this is?
Speaker 1 (41:18):
Okay?
Speaker 3 (41:20):
Because I was flipping through, I was changing because the
college game's basically over. So I was flipping through, and
I was like, I bet no could possibly know.
Speaker 1 (41:29):
Who these teams are? What sport?
Speaker 3 (41:31):
This is the Kenosha Kingfish versus the Green Bay Rockers.
Speaker 2 (41:37):
I mean, it sounds like minor league baseball, but I
have no.
Speaker 3 (41:40):
Idea it is baseball. I don't know what league it's in,
but it is baseball.
Speaker 2 (41:45):
Yeah, it sounds like minor league baseball. I could picture
a crazy hat, you know, from either of those teams?
Speaker 3 (41:52):
Okay, okay, one more, the the All Old Glory DC.
Speaker 1 (42:04):
Versus Yeah.
Speaker 3 (42:06):
I don't even know who this team team is, never mind,
I can't even I can't even pronounce this thing. Oh sorry,
the Old Glory DC at New York Iron Workers.
Speaker 2 (42:21):
Well again, it sounds it's either minor league baseball or soccer.
I think it could only be those two.
Speaker 3 (42:27):
Nope, wrong, really nope, Rugby league, major league rugby.
Speaker 2 (42:33):
You got the extensive channel package over there, I think.
Speaker 3 (42:37):
Oh, here comes Mancy. Where you at Mancy? Is that
flexing to? What is that flexing to?
Speaker 1 (42:44):
Mancy?
Speaker 2 (42:45):
Got too many channel? You got so many channels over there?
To Georgia, that's a flex.
Speaker 1 (42:51):
Is that a flex?
Speaker 8 (42:53):
Because most people have one TV? Georgie, one one?
Speaker 1 (42:58):
What do you talking about? One screen right here?
Speaker 2 (43:01):
No, no, that's not a flex, like in comparison with
the rolex, in.
Speaker 8 (43:07):
Comparison to the other flexes.
Speaker 1 (43:09):
You're right, you right, I only have one television in
the room I'm in right now.
Speaker 7 (43:14):
Ah, but you have mentioned in another room that you
have more than.
Speaker 1 (43:18):
One hold on.
Speaker 3 (43:20):
See that's the thing, is that I just moved right
Uh huh yeah, So I only have There are no
rooms with multiple televisions in it now.
Speaker 2 (43:30):
Mmmm.
Speaker 8 (43:31):
So you're slumming like the rest of.
Speaker 1 (43:33):
Us sort of.
Speaker 2 (43:35):
You go TV and tablet? Is that what you do?
Speaker 4 (43:37):
George?
Speaker 2 (43:38):
TV and tablet?
Speaker 3 (43:39):
No, no, no, no, no, no, so so but the
one TV now can be broken into four television.
Speaker 2 (43:44):
Okay, that's not bad at all. How big is this
one TV? George one ten, one ten, one ten. That's
a legitimate. So each you know, each of the four
TVs is a good you know.
Speaker 8 (43:58):
Yeah, I'm about to measure the four monitors.
Speaker 2 (44:02):
Good thirty or so?
Speaker 7 (44:03):
Rough?
Speaker 3 (44:03):
No no, no, no, no, no no, it's only one single screen,
but I can.
Speaker 2 (44:07):
That's what I mean. Yeah, So if it's one ten collectively,
then each of those four is about thirty ish, you
know in the neighborhood.
Speaker 10 (44:15):
No, no, no, no, they're each fifty five inches. Oh
if if if I break it into four, like I
can tell it. I can with the remote say all right,
I want two screens now or I want four screens? Right,
so it'll break it into four fifty five inch screens.
Speaker 2 (44:32):
Wow, but how could it break it into four fifty
five inch screens if it's a one ten.
Speaker 1 (44:39):
One hundred and ten inches?
Speaker 2 (44:41):
No, that's what I mean. So how can you have
four fifty fives?
Speaker 7 (44:47):
It's one ten up and down or like side to
side and up and down. Because maybe that's how I'm
trying to understand. Yeah, I hear what Brian is saying, I.
Speaker 3 (44:57):
Don't understand what the confusion news. So when you buy
a television, bo Benson.
Speaker 1 (45:07):
Is this confusing?
Speaker 9 (45:08):
I purposefully avoided math for most of my life. From now,
it's okay, afternoon, and we're talking math.
Speaker 3 (45:14):
So when you buy a television, right right, it is
measured diagonally.
Speaker 2 (45:21):
Right from one like the lower left to the top right.
Speaker 3 (45:24):
Yes, right, So when you get one hundred and ten
inches right, so you have fifty five, So it's one
hundred and ten inches fifty five plus fifty five Okay, yep,
And remember it's one hundred and ten inches the other
way too, so you can fit four fifty five's in there.
Speaker 2 (45:44):
Maybe that's exactly how it breaks down. That's a legitimate
screen right there, you got four, that's legit.
Speaker 1 (45:52):
I liked it.
Speaker 9 (45:53):
George so eloquently broke down how hard he could flex
on everybody with.
Speaker 2 (46:00):
He broke out a tape measure while flexing.
Speaker 1 (46:03):
No, I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (46:04):
It's because you have to remember is that they're not
fifty five inches vertically as well, it's diagonally.
Speaker 2 (46:13):
Okay, So that I got it.
Speaker 1 (46:14):
I got it.
Speaker 2 (46:15):
That makes a lot more sense.
Speaker 3 (46:16):
Yeah, So the TV's probably maybe like ninety two inches vertically.
Speaker 1 (46:22):
Maybe I don't know. Yeah, who school's counting.
Speaker 2 (46:25):
Well, it doesn't matter. You still got a bright, crisp
screen right in front.
Speaker 1 (46:29):
Of you, you know exactly, and.
Speaker 2 (46:31):
Your hashtag winning is what it works out.
Speaker 4 (46:34):
Okay, So I.
Speaker 1 (46:35):
Can't wait till college college football season.
Speaker 2 (46:37):
Lord, we're not that far away, George, We are not
that far away, my friend. We'll have some football chatter
in this show today. By the way, Adam Kaplan will
join us here in just about fifteen minutes talking to
NFL does a great job as our Fox Sports Radio
NFL insider. How about this, George, We were talking about
Chris Paul a little bit, but I really wanted to
(46:59):
dive in where this is an entertaining move. I don't
think there's any doubt about that. I want to see
Chris Paul as a teammate of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson,
the whole nine yards. I think it's entertaining to see
what Chris Paul can do in what might be the
final chapter of his career. But is it helpful? That's
the main question. Does this help the Warriors get over
(47:22):
the hump when they got bounced in six games? In
the second round against.
Speaker 1 (47:25):
Oh no, did you just use that statement?
Speaker 2 (47:31):
Did I just use the statement?
Speaker 1 (47:33):
Yes? Yes, no, no, no, no, say what you just said again.
Speaker 2 (47:37):
It's an entertaining move, but is it also a helpful
move for the Warriors, helpful to what in their pursuit
of another championship?
Speaker 3 (47:47):
That is now what you said, you said to get
them over the hump. You cannot use the words warriors
and get over.
Speaker 2 (47:56):
I can no, you care not hump. They did not
get over the hull last season, Georgia. They gotta get
over the hump.
Speaker 1 (48:02):
Stop it.
Speaker 2 (48:03):
You were talking about from yester year Golden State War.
We're talking about right yeah.
Speaker 1 (48:10):
Right now, over the hump.
Speaker 3 (48:12):
They have four championships in the ten years, bro, not
not even ten. It ain't been ten years.
Speaker 2 (48:19):
That's great. As far as twenty twenty three, twenty four
doesn't mean nothing, don't mean nothing. All that matters is
right here right now. They took a head.
Speaker 1 (48:29):
Get over get over the hump, dude.
Speaker 3 (48:32):
The Miami Heat need to get over the humph. The
Blakers Alpia seventy six ers need to get over the hump.
Speaker 2 (48:39):
The Lakers need to get over the humph.
Speaker 1 (48:41):
The Lakers, the Lakers just win in twenty twenty. There's
no hump.
Speaker 2 (48:45):
That's years ago, Jean.
Speaker 3 (48:46):
Bo Benson tiebreaker here? Can you say Warriors and get
over the hump? Because I say absolutely not. You can't
have a team win four championships, you know, in like
six years, seven years, and they'd be like eight years. Well,
so excuse oh so, like you excuse the hell out
of me. Uh huh, and then say that they need
(49:08):
to get over the hump. There's there's no hump.
Speaker 2 (49:12):
There's a hump.
Speaker 9 (49:13):
Yeah, no, I'm uh, they do have to get over
the hump because they haven't. They've only won one legitimate championship.
What wow, Yeah, well two of them are Kevin Durantz.
Uh the one they beat the Celtics. That doesn't count
because the Celtics don't know what they're doing, as we
saw this year. So and even in twenty fifteen, like
if that's their legitimate one, like the Calves were so
(49:34):
injured by that point it's hard to say it was real.
Speaker 3 (49:36):
But that's like, that's like not counting the Raptors Championship.
Speaker 9 (49:41):
Oh well see, No, after twenty twenty and everybody wanted
to dissect the Lakers I've gone back and I've actually
determined how many championships are legitimate or not. You wouldn't
believe there's a lot of them that are just not
legitimate based on these sudden and new parameters.
Speaker 1 (49:52):
So oh okay, see see see.
Speaker 2 (49:55):
Is a disgrunt Baker fan right there, and even the
discrunt old Laker fan agrees that the Warriors right here,
right now, on the heels of a season that they
got bounced in the second round, that they couldn't win
on the road hardly at all in the regular season,
There indeed is a hump right in their way and
they're trying to get over it.
Speaker 3 (50:16):
And the answer is does Chris Paul help with that?
The answer is yes, he does help them get over
edwa sorry, he does bring them closer to.
Speaker 1 (50:24):
A championships almost, yeah, almost.
Speaker 3 (50:28):
I refuse to say that insanity get over to hump.
Speaker 2 (50:31):
We almost converted to you right there on the fly, almost.
Speaker 1 (50:34):
But but I don't fall for the banana in the tailpipe.
Speaker 7 (50:37):
Bro.
Speaker 2 (50:37):
Well, here's the thing, though, George, if you can tell
me Chris Paul is going to be healthy when it
matters most come playoff time, Yeah, I think he could
absolutely be helpful. But I don't know that that's going
to be the case, unfortunately, And I take no joy
in this whatsoever. I want to see him healthy. I
hate that he's his body's betraying you, and it matters most.
Speaker 3 (50:57):
I believe that Chris Paul is going to be healthy
in the playoffs until he is actually healthy in the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (51:03):
That's absolutely healthy in the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (51:05):
Since he was in Oklahoma City and they didn't even
I mean, and they were nothing close to a championship contender.
Speaker 1 (51:15):
I bet you the the.
Speaker 3 (51:17):
Rockets or the Clippers, or the or the or the Suns,
I bet bet you if he could trade that one
postseason of of health for any one of those, he
absolutely would.
Speaker 1 (51:29):
Man.
Speaker 2 (51:30):
And that's the thing is if he isn't healthy come
playoff time, and there have been so many postseasons where
he's been out at the most critical time, that could
be the scenario again with the Warriors, and then what
then what if he can't go? That's a significant blow
to getting over the hump, George, That's what it is.
(51:50):
Significant blow. So that's the thing. I think a lot
of people are twisting this entertaining no doubt, check mark helpful,
not a he's banged up come playoff time.
Speaker 3 (52:01):
Well, let's let's assume that he can defy gravity this
year and stay healthy if he can help you.
Speaker 1 (52:12):
Yes, I do, I do too.
Speaker 3 (52:14):
I believe then that they are at a really good
chance that they have that it is going to present
a new set of problems because people know how the
Warriors play basketball.
Speaker 1 (52:26):
Obviously it is very difficult to stop it.
Speaker 3 (52:29):
But people have the book on how they play, regardless
of whether they can stop it or not. But now
the thing is, all right, you add a new dynamic
with Steph playing off the ball. That's a whole new
thing in the stop and I'm excited to see it.
Speaker 2 (52:48):
I'm excited to see it. I'm not telling you I'm not.
But I think that Chris Paul is going to sound
like a hater statement, but it's true. He's more name
than game at this point. I'm not telling you he's
no game, but I'm telling you the name recognition of
they just traded for Chris Paul and you're off and running.
That is greater than the impact most likely will be see.
Speaker 3 (53:10):
I think that the name is just he is. He
is one of the best point guards ever, right, Absolutely,
he is, but I don't think anybody is under the
impression that he is still one of the three best
point guards in the league, five best point guards in
the league. I think he has fallen into the Lebron
(53:32):
James category, which is you can't even fairly assess him
because he's so old that you can't fully like it's
not fair to say, Okay, where does Lebron rank in
best players in the league.
Speaker 1 (53:49):
He just averaged thirty points last year?
Speaker 3 (53:52):
But you also can't judge him fairly because he's nothing
of what he used to be. But he's still thirty points,
so you can't. It was like saying, where does Tom
Brady rank in quarterbacks last last year? Can't you can't
truly assess it.
Speaker 1 (54:12):
It's unassessible.
Speaker 2 (54:14):
Yeah, I hear you. I just think that when he's
going to the Warriors specifically, I think there's an ooh
factor for lack of a better description of like, oh,
Chris Paul to the Warriors. Okay, all right, he's gonna
be teamed up with Steph cur and you're off and running.
It's like the Warriors are not what the Warriors used
to be. They couldn't win on the road hardly at
(54:36):
all last season, you know, so I want to see
how this plays out, but I'm not envisioning just monster
success automatically. I think they're in the mix, but I
don't think this gets them over the hum. I don't.
We've got Adam Kaplan right around the corner. Let's talk
some NFL. Is this the best rivalry in the game
(54:57):
right now? That's on the way. I'm Brian No, He's George.
This is Fox Sports Radio. I'm Brian No. He's George Reister.
Here on Fox Sports Radio. We're coming to you Lin
from the tire rack dot com studios. Please welcome in
Adam Kaplan FSR NFL insider. I have to ask you today, Cap,
what's on the TV. We got a bunch of baseball.
(55:18):
We had the London Game, we got the College World Series.
Anything beyond baseball that you're paying attention to.
Speaker 11 (55:24):
Yeah, I believe it or not. I'll be watching the
USFL tonight. There's uh some of the coaches that are
coaching this New Orleans game.
Speaker 4 (55:30):
So I'll be.
Speaker 11 (55:30):
Watching that tonight at eight Eastern. If not, i'll tape it,
but I probably plan to watch it.
Speaker 1 (55:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (55:36):
Look, you had we had the London baseball, which was bizarre.
You know, I've not seen that before. Was watching some
of that. That was was kind of interesting.
Speaker 4 (55:43):
It's good to see uh sports overseas.
Speaker 11 (55:45):
Of course, we know the NFL plays over there and
one of Georgia's former teams, the Jaguars, go over there
every year.
Speaker 2 (55:52):
That's his only former team. I thought he played for
the Raisings and he was.
Speaker 1 (55:56):
Like, I don't know, coffee with the Giants at see.
Speaker 4 (56:00):
Yeah, I didn't even know that. But thack, it's good.
I knew there had to be one more.
Speaker 2 (56:04):
He brought my heart when he told me he didn't
play for the Ravens. Adam, I was like, what I
swear you did?
Speaker 1 (56:09):
You didn't.
Speaker 2 (56:10):
So that's been our running joke for a while. Now
there you go.
Speaker 3 (56:15):
So, Adam, we've come to the point and off season,
every everybody's off and trying to figure out, you know,
content to talk about and decipher things. And one of
the things that people have been talking about is this
trade lance situation. Like we have not seen Sam Darnold
play good football, but now everybody wants us to believe,
(56:36):
oh he's passing trade trade lance. He might be their
starter anyway, Like is this there's something.
Speaker 1 (56:44):
To this or is this just media bs? Right now,
brock Party is the starter.
Speaker 11 (56:48):
I mean, I mean, I can tell you that this
decision was made back in February after they lost to
the Eagles here in Philly. They were going to go
with Brock Party once he's over his surgery, so he'll
be the starter.
Speaker 4 (56:59):
Healthy.
Speaker 11 (57:01):
They expect Lance to be the two Darnold to B
three and the reason why they signed it to veterans
because of Perdy's injury. They wouldn't have experience in case
something would happen. They wouldn't have some experience and some
death at that position. They also said they signed Brandon Allen,
who's another journeyman, because they don't know how much Party
would be able to throw in training camp, plus you
got the preseason and so forth. So no, they're going
with Rock Party now with Kyle Shadahan said, it's very
(57:24):
similar to last summer, whereas Lance's job, you know, obviously
Perty came out of nowhere. Now the Dominos had to
fall Garoppolo. Had they brought Garppolo back then he got hurt.
Lance got hurt and these Domino hit. But they are
going forward Brock Party that's their plan.
Speaker 2 (57:40):
You know, it's crazy, Adam. Going into last season, we
said the three top teams in the NFC, it was
going to be the Packers, it was going to be
the defending champion Rams, and it was going to be Tampa.
And all three of those teams had losing records. It
was amazing. If you look at this season, I think
most people would say Eagles, Niners, probably Cowboys. Of those three,
(58:02):
who do you think is most likely if there is
a team with a losing record, who do you think
it is out of that bunch?
Speaker 1 (58:07):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (58:08):
I don't see any losing record.
Speaker 11 (58:09):
But the only My only issue with the Eagles is
that they've lost seven startered five on defense to an offense.
And also it's important to note they lost both coordinators
and that's that's problematic. Both of their cordinators became head
coaches that that would worry me a little bit. And
they're going with Brian Johnson the Eagles are as their
OC who I know the Panthers had definitely had interest
(58:31):
in hiring him as their ocd if Eagles didn't promote him.
They did, and then they the Eagles brought in Sewan Deci,
who was with Seattle and was was was the Bears
defense coordinator for a year. So look, that's that's definitely
something to look at that could be a reason for concern.
Whereas with the Niners, the roster is very close to
being the same as last season. You just don't know
(58:52):
if Brock perty that the number one quot like if
we if once we get close to the training camp,
let's say we have like the top five questions or
top ten per conference. Can Brock Purty be a quality
started quarterback for a full season? That to me is
a top five question because that's a major issue for
the Niners. And he did it for less than half
the season. To ask him to do this for full
(59:12):
season and we don't know about that yet.
Speaker 5 (59:16):
Man.
Speaker 3 (59:18):
Now I want to go over to the Buffalo Bills
because they have drama going on with Stefan Diggs. Obviously
they just extended Brandon Bean and McDermott Sean McDermott, but
that doesn't mean anything. If I mean, how does this
situation end with their with their in battled disgruntle wide
(59:40):
receiver right now.
Speaker 4 (59:41):
He's not going anywhere. Diggs, they don't.
Speaker 11 (59:43):
They just don't have anybody else They can't trade him.
It's just not something they can do.
Speaker 4 (59:47):
You know.
Speaker 11 (59:47):
It's one thing if this situation happened where there were
some issues and we were in March where you can
move them. There's nothing that we've had the draft already,
they didn't. They didn't really address the position very well
in the offseason. They they signed Deonty Hardy. He's more
of a special team's returner, gadget receiver, paying them a
lot of money. And they drafted a big possession receiver,
Justin Shorter from University of Florida.
Speaker 4 (01:00:09):
So they didn't really address it very much.
Speaker 11 (01:00:11):
So they're going with Diggs and gave Davis who you know,
talking to someone with the Bills and Davis, they really
had high hope from last season, but he had a
high ankle sprain prior to the Week two game and
he was never the same played on it when he
shouldn't have. But they want to go with the same group.
They drafted a tight end the second round as first
round Dalton Cocade, who they traded up for, so they
(01:00:32):
pretty much are set and Stephan Diggs is a top
five receiver. They just can't no matter what. And by
the way, they really downplay this situation, as I understand
they're telling.
Speaker 4 (01:00:41):
People that they've it's not a big deal.
Speaker 11 (01:00:43):
But you know Diggs has had a history of when
he's not happy, he shows it. And remember he left
if he skipped a Vikings practice got fined for it.
You know, he wanted out of there. Now he doesn't
want out of Buffalo. But this is just something to
take a look at. This isus with him and Josh Allen,
which is Allen said there's a communication could be better.
(01:01:05):
I don't know what that means.
Speaker 4 (01:01:06):
I just know this.
Speaker 11 (01:01:07):
Their offense really struggle in the playoffs, and that's one
reason for concern.
Speaker 2 (01:01:11):
He's Adam Kaplan FSR NFL Insider. You mentioned the USFL
interestingly enough so last night you might have been watching.
But there was a touchdown that was negated based on
a face mask penalty. But they've got a sky judge
in the USFL, so they take a look. They say
there was no face mask, call is reversed, touchdown is good.
(01:01:32):
The NFL obviously doesn't have that. Would you like to
see the NFL with the sky judge? And do you
think we eventually will get there?
Speaker 4 (01:01:39):
Well?
Speaker 11 (01:01:39):
Yeah, but see the thing is and this is what
Bill Belichick wanted to be able to basically challenge any penalty,
and it's he has not had a lot of momentumies.
At least twice, I know they brought it up for
just discussion, and it never has gone far enough, not
even seriously far enough. So, yeah, I guess you're talking
about that Maler's Panthers game last night. Yeah, where the
(01:02:03):
Malers want it.
Speaker 4 (01:02:06):
By four late.
Speaker 11 (01:02:07):
But I think it should happen because the worst it
doesn't see that the league's argument is for these things
that could be egregious. Yeah, maybe it happens, but it's
so that there's so few instances of it.
Speaker 4 (01:02:21):
Like they they have these these.
Speaker 11 (01:02:22):
Stats where clearly like the call is wrong, they don't
have enough of that, these these ones that are flagged
that shouldn't have been flagged to get any positive amnium
nom with.
Speaker 4 (01:02:32):
I'm with you, Brian, I like it, I would do it.
Speaker 11 (01:02:35):
I hate when I hate when it's a mistake. That's
we all see at home. This is what we have.
We have hd TV for. By the way, so do
the so does the NFL. They have access to this information,
but yet there's not enough momentum as I understand it
to even get these things looked at.
Speaker 3 (01:02:50):
Seriously, have you heard anything about the Commander's sale, Because
you know, we we thought it was going to be final.
The owners pushed it out. There is still another bid
that's still out there. What's going on there.
Speaker 11 (01:03:08):
They have a special meeting next month, third week of July,
and they're going to have a They're going to get
this thing, hopefully done. I've said all along, I thought
it'd get done by August. We've seen sales over the years.
They like in Michigan. May, they have a talk and
then they have a they've been meeting and then they
they finalize the paperwork and so forth, and they get
(01:03:28):
it done. They get it up to vote. It's got
to get They got to get three quarters vote here.
And look, we've seen this over the years. The thing
for Josh Harris's group, and you know he's he's a
big sportsman. He's into a lot. I mean, he's he's
just brought into Joe Gibbs Racing. He's got the sixers,
they've got the the NHL's devils, and this is just
(01:03:49):
what he does.
Speaker 4 (01:03:50):
Now.
Speaker 11 (01:03:50):
The agreement is good for between Washington, Daniel Snyder and
his group and Josh Niders and Josh Harris's group, but
it's not done with the NFL yet. They had to
get some certain prime satisfied, and that's what the hope is.
I think it's around July twenty if there's that special
meeting that they should Yeah, I'd be George. I'd be
very surprised, being that they're having this meeting. I'd be
(01:04:12):
very surprised if we don't have a significant update where,
even if it's not done, they have a very positive
review and announce that, yeah, we're going to have they've
met all the parameters and we'll have the vote soon.
Speaker 4 (01:04:25):
That's the very least I expect to happen.
Speaker 2 (01:04:27):
I'm sure you caught the war of words recently between
the Bengals and the Chiefs, and Travis Kelcey recently said,
don't you ever disrespect Mahomes. Is there a rivalry right
here right now? Not talking historically like Packers Bears or
something like that, but right here, right now, is there
a better rivalry in the NFL than Chiefs Bengals.
Speaker 4 (01:04:47):
It's a pretty good one.
Speaker 11 (01:04:48):
I mean, it's they're not in the same division, but
you've got two of the best quarterbacks the National footb League.
Mahomes clearly number one, and the Bengals have had some success.
So yeah, look the Chiefs are better and they just
want the super but no, it's and both quarterbacks have
a lot of swag, chili burrowed with way the handles himself.
Speaker 4 (01:05:06):
Yeah, it's one to watch out.
Speaker 11 (01:05:07):
And by the way, Orlando Brown junior, you know he
comes over from Kansas City. Now he's a left tackle,
uh for the Bengals. That's something keep an eye on
on that. That's a I would call that a butting
of rivalry. I don't think it's it's interesting because of
the two rate offense. Is two great quarterbacks, but it's
not doesn't have the heat of some other other ones
like the Steelers and Ravens. Is incredible, even though a
(01:05:30):
lot of those players have obviously retired when.
Speaker 4 (01:05:32):
It was really really bloody.
Speaker 11 (01:05:35):
But it depends on which you know, the Cowboys Eagles
is obviously a great one.
Speaker 4 (01:05:39):
One. That's I'll tell you what one that you're gonna.
Speaker 11 (01:05:41):
Watch for because Aaron Rodgers down in the FC East,
watch the Jets and Bills.
Speaker 4 (01:05:45):
That is going to be one to keep an eye
on you.
Speaker 1 (01:05:49):
Now, that's gonna be wild. Oh now, uh and when
we look.
Speaker 3 (01:05:54):
At kind of the season coming up and we're looking
at like who are the people who we need to say?
All right, like this is the team and the and
it's the running backs in the league that have been
did discuss the devaluing how teams are handling him, Like,
do you think we see any of these guys Josh
(01:06:16):
Jacob Sakwan Barkley not play or do you think that
they're just gonna have to suck it up in a
running back market is what it is.
Speaker 4 (01:06:24):
They're playing twenty three years. I'll cover this business.
Speaker 11 (01:06:28):
One guy stupidly held out he's out even play in
Le'Veon Bell that ruined his career. He also lost the
money that he didn't get when he didn't play. So no,
they all show up. Every time I start scratching my
head and talking to people close situation where they huff
and puff the players that they show up, George.
Speaker 4 (01:06:44):
You know they're not gonna they're not gonna miss a paycheck.
Speaker 11 (01:06:47):
It's easy to say because when you're When they asked Barkley,
he didn't sound like he offered it. They asked him,
would you consider you're not playing or whatever, and you
know he answered the question. And these guys show up.
Everybody shows up. Tony Gonzalez when you're really look bad.
I remember it might have been with Kansas City and
he was not getting contract that he won.
Speaker 4 (01:07:05):
He want up playing that.
Speaker 11 (01:07:06):
They all play every they all play other than Bell,
they all play. And look now what they can do
is not sign it. Like if you're if you're Jacobs,
you could take this thing, and so could Barkley. All
I'm pretty certain Barkley's gonna a good deal. But Jacobs,
you could take this thing. You could take it to
(01:07:26):
mid to late August. You don't keep your body right.
And look, you know he's had a big injury history,
so you know it's not wrong with it. But the
Raiders will tell you as Josh Jacobs goes, that offense
goes plus with Garoppolo coming back from foot surgery, it's
going to start with Jacobs with that offense. And he
was unbelievable last season.
Speaker 2 (01:07:47):
Adam, you're the man. Always enjoy it. Hope you enjoyed
the rest of your evening. You two guys, thank you,
thank you. There he is Adam Kaplan FSR NFL insider
man Manzi Blanjos is with us, and among other things,
I know she's gonna give us an update on this
College World Series. Absolutely beat down.
Speaker 7 (01:08:06):
Over beat down, I mean crazy like they can't stop.
They have for the game so far, twenty three hits
the Florida Gators, twenty three hits, LSU Tigers six hits.
Speaker 2 (01:08:21):
No, boy, the LSU has more errors than runs.
Speaker 7 (01:08:24):
Yes, no, it looks bad. And they scored until the
very end. I mean they're still scoring. The score is
twenty four to three. It's the top of the ninth innen.
Speaker 8 (01:08:35):
I'm assuming they're switching pitchers again, and that's why we're
at a partit.
Speaker 2 (01:08:39):
You know what, Mazi, Maybe it's gonna be like the Angels.
They won twenty five to one last night. They lost today, right,
so maybe the silver lining for LSU they get crushed
in game two, they come back to win game three.
Speaker 8 (01:08:51):
Maybe that would be very what's the word not sexual?
Speaker 7 (01:08:55):
But yeah, angel like angel all like that's so terrible,
but yes, that is, that.
Speaker 8 (01:09:01):
Is what's happening. I woke up this morning. I thought
I was in London.
Speaker 7 (01:09:04):
I was so groggy today, had a rough night of sleep.
Two games in London, and have to play again on Tuesday.
Both of these teams, I would be like, no, no, You're
gonna give me a week off and none of this.
Cubs and Cardinals two game series wrapped up in London today.
The Cardinals came out on top seven.
Speaker 8 (01:09:19):
To five to split the series.
Speaker 7 (01:09:21):
Chicago pitcher Marcus Stroman left the game in the fourth
inning with a blister on his right index finger. Who
would have thought that a blister would be so detrimental,
which it is, they hurt, but a blister on your
finger and he, you know, was entering today's game with
an NL best two point two eight ERA, and he
was seven to zero in his past seven.
Speaker 8 (01:09:39):
Starts going into this series in London.
Speaker 7 (01:09:42):
The Twins outscored the Tigers six three in ten innings,
and the Bruins the Bruins. The Brewers beat the Guardians
five to four in ten innings, so Cleveland is now
two games behind Minnesota for the top spot in the
AL Central. The Braves and the Reds were tied at
three through five innings, and Matt Olsen hit a three
run homer put Atlanta up.
Speaker 8 (01:09:59):
They held on two win, seven to six.
Speaker 7 (01:10:01):
The Reds are half a game up on the Brewers
for the top spot in the NL Central.
Speaker 8 (01:10:06):
And the Rockies.
Speaker 7 (01:10:07):
Yes, they redeemed themselves four to three over the Angels
at least, you know, even though they were outscored thirty
two to twelve this weekend and they so won two
out of three games. How did that happen? Two games
going on right now, Nationals all over the Padres eight
to two, bottom of the seventh inning. Questionable calls by
the umpire is what we're looking out over here calling
balls that are strikes. Okay, okay, listen, I could be
(01:10:30):
an umpire if it's that easy. The Diamondbacks beating the
Giants in San Francisco five to two, top of the
ninth inning, and a little NFL news that I just
came across.
Speaker 8 (01:10:40):
I guess.
Speaker 7 (01:10:41):
Former Patriots defensive end Jake Beckett was on Primetime with
Alex Stein and he claimed that Rob Gronkowski would party
in Boston until three or four am during the season.
He would get dropped off at the team facility by
his friends and would pass out on the training table,
where apparently trainers would administer IVY fluids while he was
(01:11:03):
passed out. Julian Edelman tweeted last night. This is his
tweet story is bs. Everyone wants to paint Gronk as
a party animal, when in reality he was one of
the most dedicated teammates. I've had, Okay, Roger that but
it's like, I don't know who Jake Beckett is, to
(01:11:23):
be honest with you, but boy, sit.
Speaker 1 (01:11:25):
Down what you said.
Speaker 8 (01:11:27):
Sit down, don't say that about Rob Gronkowski.
Speaker 1 (01:11:29):
Hold on, hold on, hold on here, even if it's true. Here,
here's what I believe in Mimanti.
Speaker 3 (01:11:36):
Okay, I believe. I'm sorry, I believe, not believed. I
believe that that is a true story. I do not
believe that there was a regular occurrence.
Speaker 1 (01:11:48):
Mm.
Speaker 8 (01:11:48):
I see what you're saying.
Speaker 3 (01:11:49):
I think that there's a difference, Like gotcha, who I
believe that that ever happened in his career? Yeah, sure, yeah,
but probably not during the regular season.
Speaker 1 (01:11:59):
Probably during the off season.
Speaker 3 (01:12:01):
And it could have happened a couple of times, sure, right,
but that's no way to like exist. I mean, one
time we went down to Orlando. We took a limo
down to Orlando, A bunch of teammates, went to a
magic game, went out, came back up, and the sun
(01:12:23):
hit us. So we were up, so we had to
go to practice everything like that in Jacksonville and uh
yeah on no sleep. So but how many times did
that happen once? I mean, so, do I believe that
he did something extreme?
Speaker 1 (01:12:38):
Sure? But do I believe that that was a regular occurrence? No?
Speaker 2 (01:12:43):
Okay, yeah, I think it makes a lot of sense.
But to your point, Monsei, why even put it out
there one time?
Speaker 7 (01:12:48):
Right, especially if it was only a one time occurrence.
Why and the way like I read the whole thing,
and I was like, he could have been like, oh,
you know a gronk like to party a few times, even.
Speaker 1 (01:12:57):
Mean that he needed to.
Speaker 3 (01:12:59):
Like so I know a guy Tony Tony Brackens, you
know a guy, Yeah, Tony Brackens was super good. Tony
Brackens would go out and instead of going home, he
would go straight to the stadium and go sleep. The way,
he didn't oversleep and he didn't have to drive drive back.
So I've known players that will just go to the stadium.
Speaker 2 (01:13:19):
Chad Johnson used to do that.
Speaker 1 (01:13:21):
Yes, it does. It does.
Speaker 3 (01:13:23):
Doesn't mean that you're tore up and need all that. No,
And Dick Grunt probably like go to the club and
then be like, now I'm gonna go straight to the
stadium because I know how hard I sleep, and I
don't want to oversleep, so I'm just gonna go sleep
at the stadium.
Speaker 1 (01:13:36):
Probably. But that's the thing, though, if it's frequent.
Speaker 2 (01:13:40):
I think you got to state that, if this wasn't
a regular occurrence, you need to paint that picture correctly
instead of making it open ended and making it sound like, well,
how many times did this happen? Is he's party animals
Central over here.
Speaker 7 (01:13:55):
Staggering using the word staggering into the Patriots locker room
and see out.
Speaker 3 (01:14:01):
Yeah, well if they didn't go in there with him,
so they would I mean, so, I mean, and do
people like to embellish stories.
Speaker 1 (01:14:09):
That's why I think that did he ever get an ivy?
Speaker 4 (01:14:12):
Sure? Maybe? Right?
Speaker 1 (01:14:14):
But did he probably go out.
Speaker 3 (01:14:17):
And and then go straight to the stadium and go sleep? Yes,
I know bunch of players that would do that.
Speaker 1 (01:14:23):
That's not That's not.
Speaker 8 (01:14:25):
What you're saying. Is not this other story though?
Speaker 1 (01:14:28):
Yes, like like he was stumbling in and yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:14:32):
Yeah yeah, by the way, coming up next, Monci, there
is a story guaranteed to make you incredibly angry. I
am guaranteed is the lock of locks coming up? But well,
(01:14:52):
we'll try it on for size. We'll see what you
and George have to say. All weigh in as well. Now,
Brian No, he's George Reister. Keep it locked right here
on Fox Sports Radio. I'm Brian. No, he's George Reister.
Here on Fox Sports Radio. We're coming to you live
from the tire rack dot Com studios. Man, George, I
saw this story and I immediately thought, oh man, I'm
(01:15:17):
gonna read like a sentence or two and Moncey Belanos
is gonna be seething, hot, mad, angry here.
Speaker 1 (01:15:24):
So let's do it. Let's yes, make Monty mad.
Speaker 8 (01:15:30):
What is this excitement? No, I actually am excited. Please
go ahead.
Speaker 3 (01:15:33):
Okay, I don't I have no idea what it what
it is, but but making Moncey mad, I am in.
Speaker 8 (01:15:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:15:40):
So your buddy, maybe your best buddy in the sports world.
Speaker 8 (01:15:44):
Oh no.
Speaker 2 (01:15:45):
MLB commissioner Rob Mann. Oh this guy he sat down
for a wide ranging interview with Time and he was
talking about the Houston Astros cheating scene.
Speaker 3 (01:15:57):
Oh my god, Oh I know what he's gonna say. Yeah,
he almost Manzie almost forgot she was on radio.
Speaker 7 (01:16:08):
I did, I was about to say a very bad work.
Speaker 1 (01:16:12):
Yes this mother Yep.
Speaker 2 (01:16:14):
He said he would like to do over regarding the
astros cheating scandal from nearly four years ago, and he said, quote,
I'm not sure that I would have approached it with
giving players immunity.
Speaker 1 (01:16:28):
End quote.
Speaker 3 (01:16:31):
That's what I want to tell him. Yeah, that's what
I want to tell him.
Speaker 1 (01:16:34):
Shut up, shut up, commissioner man. For sure, I wish
I had approached it.
Speaker 8 (01:16:42):
Well, we all knew that for stupid.
Speaker 3 (01:16:46):
Yeah, giving uh yeah, I probably shouldn't have given Yeah.
And then also he said giving him immunity was probably
a bad idea. Oh no, no, you know what, Sherlock,
it was because had you not given them immunity, you
would have gotten the truth.
Speaker 2 (01:17:04):
Well that's the thing is they didn't want the truth.
But if you're automatically granting immunity to the players, you're
just bad at investigating obviously.
Speaker 1 (01:17:15):
Job.
Speaker 2 (01:17:16):
Yes, it's like, why.
Speaker 1 (01:17:18):
Why would somebody would have snitched?
Speaker 3 (01:17:20):
Because it was a player on the team who snitched
to begin with. You don't think without immunity that that
we would have found out that that that little bitty
uh t, that that the little tater top had a
a wearable device under his under his jersey lion tombalson.
Speaker 2 (01:17:48):
On, George, you don't believe it was just a bad
tattoo that he didn't want to be shown.
Speaker 1 (01:17:53):
What.
Speaker 2 (01:17:54):
Yeah, their whole thing was so bad, the astros and
you had to grant it immunity just to get the truth.
Are you serious?
Speaker 1 (01:18:04):
Right now?
Speaker 3 (01:18:06):
The whole completely and and and that means that the
that you're saying that the players had no responsibility in
the situation, that this was all big bad manager and
general and general manager get out of here. Nope, nope, nope, liar,
(01:18:26):
liar pants on fire.
Speaker 8 (01:18:28):
I mean he's calling us all stupid to our faces.
Speaker 1 (01:18:30):
Yeah, well, just.
Speaker 2 (01:18:32):
Imagine if that's how it worked with crime. Imagine detectives,
anybody in law enforcement. It's like, all right, we're gonna
grant you immunity. Did you steal the car? I did? Okay,
all right, well you're free to go. But at least
I know, like, what are you doing? Yeah, go ahead,
keep the guy again't do anything about that either. Come on, man,
(01:18:55):
The whole thing about granting immunity from the get go
was a colossal joke. Now the other part this is,
and I do understand this. He didn't think a punishment
was going to stick with the players association. But it's
way worse to not punish the players instead of punishing
the players, and it just doesn't stick. I know, you're
(01:19:16):
gonna look weak, you're gonna look powerless, but he looks
way worse the way that he approached it, not approaching that,
not punishing them whatsoever.
Speaker 8 (01:19:23):
Yeah yeah, people.
Speaker 3 (01:19:25):
Yeah like, oh oh man, yeah that yeah, that probably
was a bad idea.
Speaker 1 (01:19:31):
Oh yeah, oh you oh you think yeah, oh yeah
yeah yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:19:35):
Oh man, dude, this is like this is like some
OJ jury type stuff, you know, and we won't even
get to like the social stuff because there's a lot
of other things that played into it, and the police
were doing stuff dirty and all of that.
Speaker 1 (01:19:54):
But but you're just like, come on, come on.
Speaker 2 (01:19:56):
Bro, right right, the DNA is all over the bronco.
What are we doing over here?
Speaker 1 (01:20:01):
You know? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:20:02):
Yeah, I've dude, And I know I was younger, but
I had horrible takes.
Speaker 2 (01:20:07):
Hey, coming up next, some top five NFL questions. Oh
let's talk some ball, some top five questions that's top
of mind. We are broadcasting live from the tierrack dot
Com Studios. Tierrack dot com. We'll help get you there
an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road hazard protection,
over ten thousand recommended installers. Tire rack dot com the
(01:20:30):
way tire buying should be all right, George, we're able
to talk to Adam Kaplan last hour FSR NFL Insider,
and one of the most interesting things that he talked
about you asked him a question about Brock Purty and
the forty nine ers in their quarterback situation, and he said,
in his mind, this is a top five question this year,
(01:20:53):
which is can Brock Purdy be a franchise quarterback for
an entire season? Now, just that state though this is
a top five question, I just started thinking what are
some of the other top questions in the NFL as
a whole? And I think he hit on one key
one because think about the Niners, how talented their roster is.
(01:21:15):
We don't know right now that Brockbirdy is one a
franchise quarterback and two can be a franchise quarterback and
remain upright and healthy for an entire season. We haven't
seen that happen yet, So I would agree that is
a top five question. Is there anything else that comes
to the top of your mind in terms of major
question and whether it's yes or no, major ramifications throughout
(01:21:39):
the rest of the league.
Speaker 3 (01:21:41):
Oh yeah, yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes.
Speaker 1 (01:21:46):
And the first at the top of the list is
are the Jets going to make the playoffs? Okay? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:21:56):
And are and not only are they actually contenders? And
more so, what happens if they don't make the playoffs?
Speaker 1 (01:22:04):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (01:22:05):
Yeah, yeah, I'm along the same lines. You know, a
different way to say it, but my question is is
Aaron Rodgers going to make the Jets true contenders in
a loaded AFC. It's a different way of saying it,
but that's essentially what you're saying. Also, but I like
you take it to the you take it to twenty four,
it's not just twenty three. If they're not the real deal,
(01:22:28):
then what Yes?
Speaker 3 (01:22:30):
Yeah, yes, I want to see how Aaron Rodgers, who
is obviously used to getting a lot of media attention
because he's Aaron Rodgers and because he plays for the Packers,
But I don't think I'm not sure if he understands
the plan for the Jets is going to be a
different animal.
Speaker 1 (01:22:46):
Oh it's because he's.
Speaker 3 (01:22:48):
Not going to be able to hide in you know
in Green Bay, the Papa Rozzi's not out like that.
People aren't taking pictures of you in the same way. Dude,
if he eats anywhere outside of his home, he will
be he will be accosted. If he's not player will.
Speaker 2 (01:23:06):
Yeah, you're right. You know what's funny. As a blast
from the past. I was doing radio and Fresno a
long time ago. Pat Hill was the head coach at
Fresno State, and I was used to these press conferences, George,
where it's largely just softballs. You know, they'd lose by
two touchdowns, Hey, coach, what did you like signs of
progress in the third quarter?
Speaker 4 (01:23:26):
There?
Speaker 1 (01:23:26):
Right?
Speaker 4 (01:23:26):
Like?
Speaker 2 (01:23:27):
There was sometimes like that. I went to a Raider game.
They got blown out by the Falcons. I went to
the press conference. Tom Cable was the head coach at
the time, and they're asking him questions that were just Tom,
are you embarrassed by this? Is it gonna be hard
to look in the mirror after a performance like this?
I was looking around the room like, oh my gosh,
I'm just used to these softball questions. But that's the
(01:23:49):
difference between the Green Bay and New York right right, Well,
there are no more softballs over in New York when
you're a member of the Jets. I mean, that is
a completely different scenario and I can't wait to see
how that plays itself out.
Speaker 1 (01:24:04):
All right, we got another one for you.
Speaker 2 (01:24:07):
Buddy, another one like DJ Khaled?
Speaker 3 (01:24:09):
What do you have for another one? What? What happens?
What happens?
Speaker 1 (01:24:18):
Oh? Who is? Well? Who is going to be.
Speaker 3 (01:24:24):
The second place team in the AFC West? Because if
the Chargers, I mean whoever that is Chargers, Broncos or Raiders,
I'm sorry, whoever it's not is going to either get
fired or be on the hot seat. Yeah, except for
the Broncos.
Speaker 2 (01:24:41):
Yeah, not gonna be Sean Payton. But yeah, now I
hear you.
Speaker 3 (01:24:44):
With those two, well, that'll mean that Russell Wilson is
on the is on the verge of getting fired.
Speaker 2 (01:24:49):
Right, But the other two coaches, You're right. If the
Chargers take a step back, Brandon Staley could be out
of a gig. If the Raiders, they could easily fall
off the grid. Does that mean Josh McDaniels is out
of a job? Now that's a good one.
Speaker 1 (01:25:03):
I'm looking.
Speaker 2 (01:25:04):
I'm keeping at the AFC for a second. The Bills
are the Bills mature enough to take the next step. George,
it's June and we've got drama with Stefan Diggs and
the head coach is really worried because he's not showing up.
And then there's Josh Allen trying to cover for him,
saying it's not football related when it's clearly football related.
(01:25:25):
This is June. What happens if they lose too straight
going into Week fourteen? You know, I don't know if
they're mature enough to take the next major stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:25:33):
See, nothing that the Bill's do in the regular season
matters nothing, because the only thing that they're gonna be
judged on is playoff success. That's gonna be it. Like,
there's nothing that happens in the regular season that that
you're gonna feel better about the Bills. It's it's only
their playoff stuff. Now now another one?
Speaker 2 (01:25:58):
Well, but no fast before you get before the other one.
Another one.
Speaker 7 (01:26:02):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:26:02):
That's the thing is you're setting a foundation right now.
You know how am I supposed to expect things are
going to You're gonna be mature enough when it's really
serious come playoff time. When the last vision I have
is to find Diggs being completely ticked off that he's
not getting the ball enough, he storms out of there. Okay, fine,
(01:26:23):
he's a competitor. It's almost six months later, George, and
he's still bent about that. Like, how are you gonna
get through the regular season and be on point come
playoff time when they weren't last year. I just have
major questions that they're not going to be mature enough
to take that next step. But get on with it.
(01:26:43):
What's your next one here? I'm curious about that.
Speaker 1 (01:26:45):
Oh the.
Speaker 3 (01:26:48):
What happens if the Bengals don't win the AFC North?
Speaker 2 (01:26:54):
What happens?
Speaker 1 (01:26:55):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (01:26:56):
Like like how does this? Like how does this workout?
Because they because they are the team that they're supposed
to be, the rivals of the Chiefs, and you're like, uh.
Speaker 1 (01:27:09):
Well, you gotta do more.
Speaker 2 (01:27:12):
Well, I'll tell you there's major questions in that division.
Can Lamar remain upright for a full season when he's
missed five plus games, you know he missed them including
the playoffs last season, missed five games the season before.
Can he be healthy? What about Deshaun Watson and the Browns.
That's a pretty talented roster. And if Deshaun Watson looks
(01:27:34):
like he used to on the football field, that could
be a sneaky good team.
Speaker 3 (01:27:38):
George, you are absolutely right. And I got one more
question for you. It's the last one I got, yep,
is this is just about the playoffs as a whole.
How does this work with the in the AFC? Because
there are seven new teams in the playoffs every single year.
(01:28:00):
It's like clockwork there. There there's no upsetting the apple cart,
you know. I mean it is death taxes and seven
new seven new teams and one team and at least
one team that doubles their win total.
Speaker 2 (01:28:14):
Right, where's the first something?
Speaker 3 (01:28:18):
All of those things happen every single year, not not
not sometimes not the majority of the years, every year.
So in the AFC, let's say the a f C
that the NFC takes the.
Speaker 1 (01:28:30):
Brunt of it. Right.
Speaker 3 (01:28:32):
In the AFC, the Chiefs, Bills, Bengals, Jaguars, Chargers, Ravens,
and Dolphins made the playoffs last year?
Speaker 1 (01:28:43):
Who gets kicked out? Find me?
Speaker 3 (01:28:45):
Find me three teams that that you can pre predict
before the season that are going to get kicked out. Obviously,
Kansas City's not getting kicked out. They feel like, I mean,
the road to the championship goes through there. So you
got Bills, Bengals, Jaguars, Chargers, Ravens, and Dolphins to choose from.
Speaker 2 (01:29:08):
I could see now you're gonna think I'm crazy. I
wouldn't be shocked at all if the Bills take a
major step back.
Speaker 1 (01:29:15):
I would not either.
Speaker 2 (01:29:16):
You know, Josh Allen is a really, really good quarter
So so then who does that put in the Patriots,
the Jets, or the Dolphins as a division winner. Well,
that's the thing with the Bills and the Dolphins. I
think it starts at quarterback. And obviously there are more
questions about Tua based on what happened last year with
the concussions, than Josh Allen. But I'm telling you, George,
(01:29:36):
and you know this, Josh Allen plays a reckless style
of quarterback and I wouldn't be surprised if he's on
the shelf for a little bit of time. So I
think the first part of it is who remains upright
between Josh Allen and Tua, because if either of those
guys go down for four or five weeks, hopefully not
longer than that, that could swing it in that division easily.
Speaker 1 (01:30:01):
It definitely could.
Speaker 3 (01:30:02):
And then the AFC South, I think we're pretty I mean,
it feels pretty confident that the I actually like the
Jaguars to repeat in that division.
Speaker 2 (01:30:14):
Yeah, I think it's a two horse race. I can't
see the Colts or the Texans in that division making
that much headway. I think it's Jags Titans and advantage
Jags in that one.
Speaker 3 (01:30:27):
Yeah, advantage, But then that already And so then the
AFC North, You're like, Okay, Bengals Ravens in the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (01:30:36):
That feels good, right.
Speaker 2 (01:30:39):
I mean that those would be the favorites. But the
Ravens with as banged up as lamar Is, Deshaun Watson t.
Speaker 1 (01:30:47):
Layoffs.
Speaker 3 (01:30:48):
If he starts and finishes the season, they make the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (01:30:51):
So, so, like, how do you find teams.
Speaker 3 (01:30:55):
That are going to and mind you, it's team that
do this without significant injuries.
Speaker 1 (01:31:03):
They just are bad.
Speaker 2 (01:31:05):
Yeah. Well, that's the thing, man is, it's a tougher
thing to look to take teams out in the AFC
with what you just presented to us. But if you
look at it from the other point of view, you
look at the Jets with their defense and adding Aaron
Rodgers to the mix, and they were a seven and
ten team. They won seven games with Zach Wilson and
(01:31:27):
Joe Flacco and Chris Streveler whoever that guy is. They
won seven. Like with Aaron Rodgers, you're probably a double
digit win team, and so if you get to ten wins,
you're probably gonna sneak into the playoffs. If you look
at the Browns, the Browns were seven and ten with
(01:31:47):
Deshaun Watson just trying to kick the rust off in
the final five games. You know that's a talented roster.
Could they get to ten wins? Maybe so if they do.
If you like, those are two last play these teams
in their respective divisions. If either of those teams get
to ten wins, they're probably gonna be a new playoff team.
Speaker 1 (01:32:09):
Big facts.
Speaker 2 (01:32:10):
It's crazy, and that's kind of what I get into. Also,
my last top five question is who makes the major
leap if you bring the NFC into the equation George, Now,
this is a conference where some team could come from
nowhere make a big leap, because.
Speaker 3 (01:32:26):
Well, it felt like the Lions were going to be
that team, but they got but.
Speaker 1 (01:32:32):
They're down players.
Speaker 2 (01:32:34):
Yeah, Jamison Williams down for six weeks. That hurts, But
I mean, really, outside of Niners, Eagles, Cowboys, it is
wide open. You got four playoff spots that are open.
Speaker 1 (01:32:47):
Yeah, who yeah? And who ends up? Oh god, Bro,
it's just so much drama. Yeah? And then who else
ends up suspended?
Speaker 3 (01:32:59):
Because the the NFL, there are gonna be some more
suspensions that come down from what I've heard, who then?
Who then gets suspended? Are we gonna see any big
name suspended?
Speaker 4 (01:33:12):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:33:13):
I'm not sure if we will or not. But if
we do, yeah, that'll have some ramifications. Can you imagine
if a big name got popped betting on NFL games
and is out for the entire year?
Speaker 1 (01:33:25):
Lord have mercy?
Speaker 2 (01:33:26):
Could have that?
Speaker 3 (01:33:27):
I mean, if you have like Josh Allen, if he
was the one who lost eight million dollars, Bro, that
would be that would be startling.
Speaker 2 (01:33:36):
That would be It really would be. But I'll give
you a team that could make a traumatic turnaround, George.
How about the Rams? They whoa whoa no, whoa whoa
whoa whoa chance? Whoa no chance? In the NFC.
Speaker 1 (01:33:53):
No, let me get this chance.
Speaker 2 (01:33:55):
They were ravaged by injuries last season. In fact, you've
got now, they don't have great depth because of the
whole FM picks strategy. And their quarterback is the window, right.
Speaker 3 (01:34:08):
Their quarterback's a good quarterback. He had a great quarterback
and he's and he's not I mean, and you got
to hope that that that his good, that his uh
that is noodle is healthy.
Speaker 2 (01:34:18):
You know what, Matthew Stafford best quarterback in the division,
best quarterback in the division, no doubt about it. Rock Purty,
Colt McCoy, Slash, Kyler Murray and Geno Smith who was
very good last year, but not better than Matthew Stafford.
Speaker 1 (01:34:37):
Sorry, sorry, I would I would tend to agree with you.
Speaker 2 (01:34:41):
That's so you got Matthew Stafford.
Speaker 1 (01:34:44):
Me, they're in a whole lot of competition.
Speaker 3 (01:34:46):
But like Geno was really good last last year, and
Geno is I mean, I can make a case for
Geno though.
Speaker 2 (01:34:54):
Hey, Gino had a really good season. I take nothing
away from that guy. He was really good. But Matthew
Stafford is better quarterback. And you look at that division.
I think that Matthew Stafford, coupled with Cooper Cup if
you're blessed with better health with just those two guys
and you still have Aaron Donald. They're coming off a
(01:35:14):
five and twelve season, and I know the offensive line
was a wreck, and I'm not running to the betting
window to say they're gonna be super Bowl champs, but
we're what two seasons removed from them winning it all,
and like they're just completely off the radar right now.
Speaker 1 (01:35:35):
No, that's true.
Speaker 3 (01:35:37):
It's crazy how quickly that you can go from the
top to the bottom.
Speaker 2 (01:35:42):
Yeah, and a couple of these teams, I think that
if you look at the NFC South, who's gonna get
legitimate quarterback play? And how big of a difference does
that make If you look at Derek Carr going to
the Saints. I'm not gonna make Derek Carr into a
top five quarterback, but he's better than Andy Dalton, I
know that much. He's a lot better than Andy Dalton.
And the Saints still won seven games last year. What
(01:36:05):
if Desmond Ritter with the Falcons takes a step forward.
You got a running game that should be legit, and
then you also have Kyle Pitts and Drake London. You
made a lot of additions defensively. That's a team in
a division the NFC South, that is not exactly a gauntlet.
And while I don't think the Falcons are going to
(01:36:26):
be all world. I think they could challenge to be
a playoff team.
Speaker 1 (01:36:30):
Yeah, I would agree with that. Yeah, that you might.
Speaker 3 (01:36:35):
They might be because they're because the division is so
bad that like, yes, yeah, they might be able to.
Speaker 1 (01:36:43):
Get in at eight and eight in that division.
Speaker 3 (01:36:47):
Because are we supposed to believe that Derek Carr is
that now the Saints that this is the difference between
the Saints being a you know, a super Bowl contender
and and not.
Speaker 2 (01:37:01):
No, I don't think that. But I think they could
be a playoff team, and I think they could. They
could be a tough out if they get in. You know,
you win your division and you get a home playoff game,
you know, you could least the last of the divisional
round or you'll even beyond who knows. All right, we
got a lot to get to. We got to get to. Loyalty.
(01:37:24):
Can you remain loyal if the other side isn't. I'm
Brian though, he's George Reister. Keep it locked right here
on Fox Sports Radio. I'm Brian. No, he's George Reister
here on Fox Sports Radio. Man the NBA rumor Mill. George,
it is in optimum shape right here, the other hot rumor,
(01:37:47):
Damian Lillard, will he be on the move from the
Portland Trailblazers. So the latest chapter in this book is
Dame went on IG Live and he had Will Smith's
Miami song playing in the background, which was pretty funny
because of course, you know all the rumors about him
(01:38:08):
maybe going to the Miami Heat, and when he's just
in the club and you hear, you know, Will Smith
in the background, I'm going to Miami, it was just
pretty funny.
Speaker 1 (01:38:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:38:19):
And then Jimmy Butler he posted on his ig story
that he was casually listening to some of Dame Dallas's
music over there. So you've got Dame shouting out Miami.
You got Jimmy shouting out Dame. What do you think, Ben,
do you think this actually goes down? Because when you're
Dame and you don't want to restart again with all
(01:38:42):
these young guns, they draft Scoot Henderson third. Overall, Dame
has remained very, very loyal, and you don't know what
the Blazers are trying to get done to surround him
with veterans, but they haven't surrounded him with veterans. So
he's been loyal and I could see him looking at
the Blazer are saying, are you guys remaining loyal to
(01:39:02):
me or are you looking toward the future and it's
time for me to go.
Speaker 3 (01:39:07):
Well, listen, Dame doesn't want to look like a hypocrite.
Speaker 4 (01:39:12):
That's right.
Speaker 3 (01:39:13):
He wants to because he was the I stayed ten
toes down with all.
Speaker 2 (01:39:17):
This loyal to the soil.
Speaker 1 (01:39:19):
Yeah yeah, I don't dude.
Speaker 3 (01:39:22):
Paul George and and Patrick Beverly Will will have a
a They're already crafting their their Instagram Twitter. Uh disist
and responses to this because when when he went at
Paul George, Oh dude, if you think Paul George is
(01:39:43):
going to remain silent if Dame asked for a trade,
oh bro, And oh we're out there ring chasing and
the and the team doesn't want to be the one
to let go of Dame. But the funniest part of
this whole thing has been all of the old Portland
was trying to package the number three pick in this
(01:40:04):
to get a BAM out of Bio.
Speaker 1 (01:40:06):
And you're like, dude, the Miami.
Speaker 3 (01:40:08):
Heat Pat pat Riley would he would give you his
his pinky ring before he would give you BAM out
of Bio because they've been in the in the championship
with three times the two times. It's twenty twenty and
now and you think they're gonna give up bam out
(01:40:31):
of bio to to like rebuild and help you out
and not get name back. Man, if you don't get
out of here. That was that was pure comedy. That
was performative at best.
Speaker 2 (01:40:43):
And that was what Eastern Conference finals for the heat
three of four years.
Speaker 1 (01:40:47):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (01:40:48):
So they're yeah, they're trying to build.
Speaker 1 (01:40:51):
They are not. They need to get over the hump.
They do. That's the team that needs to get over
the hump.
Speaker 2 (01:40:55):
Well, the Warriors do too, after they couldn't win road
games and got bounced in the second round. But yes,
even more so Miami. So they've got company with get
to hump. What's that?
Speaker 1 (01:41:07):
So do the Bucks need to get over to hump too? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:41:10):
They do.
Speaker 2 (01:41:11):
They absolutely got to get over the hump. They've regressed
the last two games.
Speaker 3 (01:41:14):
So every team that didn't win a championship needs to
get over to humph.
Speaker 2 (01:41:19):
Yeah, unless they were ravaged by injuries and something crazy happened.
I mean, look, they didn't fire Bud for no reason.
You know, he's winning seventy percent of his regular season games,
won a title, and got a pink.
Speaker 4 (01:41:30):
Slip, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (01:41:32):
Like, that's a franchise that truly believes they needed to
get over the hump, and they were going in a
different direction.
Speaker 1 (01:41:39):
Yeah, very true.
Speaker 2 (01:41:42):
Yeah, yeah yeah, but yeah, I think that there's this
weird game of who's gonna blink first between the Blazers
and Dame because the Blazers don't want to trade Dame
without him saying he wants to be traded ye, and
Dame doesn't want to say he wants to be traded.
(01:42:04):
So there's this weird dynamic at play there, and I.
Speaker 1 (01:42:10):
Just don't know how that works.
Speaker 3 (01:42:14):
Because if you're the Blazers, listen, you've been trying at
this a while. Your best bet would have been to
trade players prior to the draft, like try to get Yes,
you want Scoot Henderson, but you also want other draft picks.
I would have traded name for about five draft.
Speaker 2 (01:42:37):
Picks right right, and just build a round. That's the
thing is, you got to make a tough position.
Speaker 3 (01:42:43):
It's the only way that they're going to be able
to get to get to be able to win. I mean,
look at Look the Sacramento Kings, they're not gonna get
big time. You know, free agents in general, you got
to build the stars first to make other people want
to come to you and ring Chase.
Speaker 2 (01:43:01):
Yeah, well that's the thing, man, is it's not only
about free agency. We say this all the time, George.
Where it's like Portland is not a free agency destination.
There are a lot of places that are not free
agency destinations.
Speaker 3 (01:43:15):
Yeah, but they also haven't drafted superstars either.
Speaker 2 (01:43:18):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (01:43:19):
They could have.
Speaker 3 (01:43:19):
They could have had Nicola Jokic, they could have had Yeah,
I mean you know what I mean. Like like there's
plenty of late second round pick, there's plenty of of
first round picks that have that they had plenty of
opportunity to draft that have turned out to be really,
really good basketball players.
Speaker 2 (01:43:38):
Well, think about this. It's not just about free agency.
And while I admit Portland's not a free agency destination,
you can build through the draft. You just mentioned trading
Dame for a bunch of draft picks, and you might
hit on some of those. Look at Denver, they hit
on Jamal Murray, they hit on then Kola Jokic. I
know that's a diamond in the rough. That's most likely
(01:43:59):
not gonna happen again with you had a shot. Also
MPJ Michael Porter Junior is a good player and made
a difference there.
Speaker 1 (01:44:07):
Whoa whoa.
Speaker 4 (01:44:10):
Stop stopped what.
Speaker 2 (01:44:11):
He's a good player and he made a difference. He
not have lights out finals, but he no, I'm.
Speaker 1 (01:44:16):
Just saying he's okay, Like he's not a super I.
Speaker 2 (01:44:20):
Didn't make up a superstar. I said he's a good
he made a difference, but he paid. But the point
is this, you can build through the draft. It's not
just about free agency. So if I understand the Blazers,
they don't want to trade Dame because you don't want
to trade the guy, right, And that's a really tough decision,
(01:44:41):
and you don't want to send that message like, hey,
this is how we treat our stars in Portland and
you're gonna turn off free agents down the road. They're
not coming there anyway. Like, you got to make a
tough decision and acquire as many assets as possible and
build toward the future. And you look at this young nucleus,
Scoot Henderson, Anthony Simon's Shaden Sharp. These guys are twenty
(01:45:05):
four or younger, that's not a bad nucleus. And I
know it's not what you want to do. But even
if Dame doesn't give the blessing, if you can get
a haul back, you gotta get that in return. You
have to.
Speaker 1 (01:45:17):
That's fact.
Speaker 2 (01:45:18):
Jack He's aging, right.
Speaker 3 (01:45:20):
I mean, I mean if you just look at all
the players that they could have drafted, I mean instead of.
Speaker 1 (01:45:28):
But Harry Giles, I mean, think, man, look at their
previous picks.
Speaker 3 (01:45:34):
So we know Shadon Sharp is working out, Scoot Henderson
will see. But before that, Isaiah Stewart, Necere, little Anthony
Simons is working out. But then Justin Jackson, Harry Giles,
Caleb Swanigan, three first round picks in one year, and
that's who they chose.
Speaker 2 (01:45:53):
Well, he didn't start off in Portland, Harry Giles. He
started off in Sacertown, right, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:45:58):
But I'm just saying, is that is that those were
your picks though? Yeah, and then Ron Daei, Hollis Jefferson,
you just haven't drafted.
Speaker 1 (01:46:08):
Well, there's nobody else's fault.
Speaker 2 (01:46:10):
Yeah, And that's the thing is they built. Their main
guys were draft picks. Their main guys were Dame, CJ. McCollum,
who they traded. It was, uh, well, they got Nurkic
eventually that wasn't their draft pick, but they he was
Nurkic's he was a Joker's backup. That's how they got
(01:46:31):
Nurkic was he was backing up Joker in Denver. But
the two guys in the back court were Dame and cj.
Those are both top ten picks.
Speaker 3 (01:46:39):
Yep and bro We. And it's funny how the draft matters.
And we're in a situation now where a player got
a contract today and it was just my mind boggling.
J just absolutely, Oh what what this team is trying
to do with the Minnesota timber Wolves.
Speaker 1 (01:47:00):
Oh yeah, they.
Speaker 3 (01:47:02):
Have three seven footers on their teeth And you're just like,
so this is so you're actually like doing the opposite
of what everybody in the NBA is doing.
Speaker 2 (01:47:15):
They're like, hey, man, let's let's try to be different.
I guess I don't know. I just if you could
get Rudy Gobar, fine, but not for what they got
him for. Utah was like, okay, all right, we'll sign
up for this, no problem. You know what we're signing
up for right now. More of Moncey Belanos, who's got
a lot of information delivered with a smile and also
(01:47:39):
some charisma every time. Manzie, what's going on here?
Speaker 8 (01:47:41):
Brian?
Speaker 7 (01:47:42):
Wasn't that the bed I lost where I was like, no,
Donovan Mitchell's not going to win anywhere, and I think
that he was. I think you were like, he's gonna
go somewhere. It's just so long ago. Yeah, yeah, this
is so long ago. But I was like, no, he's
gonna stay just because Rudy Gobert is gone, which I
couldn't believe what they got for Ruddy Gobert with their
painting him.
Speaker 8 (01:48:02):
But I really I was.
Speaker 7 (01:48:03):
One of those people that I genuinely thought Donovan Mitchell
was not going anywhere.
Speaker 2 (01:48:09):
I'm surprised that the Jazz have recovered as quickly. Yes,
I know, they had a pretty good season last year
all things considered.
Speaker 7 (01:48:16):
Right, Oh yeah, yeah, I agreed agreed on that let's
move on to a major League baseball for now, because
one game is going on and it started really.
Speaker 8 (01:48:24):
Good for the Dodgers.
Speaker 7 (01:48:25):
Mookie Bets lead off home run, come on, we see
that all the time.
Speaker 8 (01:48:28):
Beautiful.
Speaker 7 (01:48:28):
But then of course Jeremy Penya for the Houston Astros
just hit a two run homer, so Houston is up
two to one.
Speaker 8 (01:48:34):
It's a three game series. LA has won the first
two games, so.
Speaker 7 (01:48:38):
Hopefully they will be sweeping the Astros. In the words
of Ben Mallard's and the words of Ben mallor, yeah,
I love that. He cracks me up. He also calls
Rob Manford. He says, Rob Manford, I love. I love
every time he talks about them.
Speaker 8 (01:48:52):
I love him so much. The Diamondbacks outscored the Giants five.
Speaker 7 (01:48:55):
To two, and the Nationals beat the Padres eight to three.
Earlier today, the Phillies scored four runs in the eighth inning.
Speaker 8 (01:49:01):
And came back to beat the Mets. They are just struggling.
Speaker 7 (01:49:04):
Beat Alonzo back in the lineup, even hit a home run,
had three RBIs. It didn't matter if Phillies won seven
to six. Rays are still the best team in baseball
at fifty four to twenty seven. After defeating the Royals
three to one, the Yankees had to come back win.
They haven't had those in know a little bit. Five
to three was the final score over the Rangers. Victories
for the Marlins, the Orioles, and the Blue Jays, along
(01:49:24):
with the White Sox who beat the Red Sox four
to one. Luis Robert Junior had two homers in the victory.
And then the Rockies, yes, they redeemed themselves a four
to three victory over the Angels. Orioles top the Mariners
three to two. The Brewers Brewers beat the Guardians five
four to ten innings, just like the Twins, who outscored
the Tigers six to three in ten innings, and the
two game series in London officially wrapped up between the
(01:49:47):
Cardinals and the Cubs.
Speaker 8 (01:49:48):
It was a split series. And in the world College wait,
what is it? No College World Series? In the College
World Series, That's what it is.
Speaker 7 (01:49:56):
We're gonna have a Game three tomorrow between the Florida
Gators and the LSU Tigers. Florida dominated today twenty four
to four. Right fielder Ty Evans a couple of homers,
including a grand Slam, the first one in Men's College
World Series Finals history. So Game three will be Tomorrow,
Monday at seven pm Eastern Time on the golf course.
Kegan Bradley has won the Travelers Travelers Championship. Carlos Alcaaz
(01:50:20):
won the Queen's Club Championship. This Sunday for his first
ATP title on grass, so he reclaimed the top ranking,
meaning he's going to enter Wimbledon next month as the
number one seed.
Speaker 8 (01:50:31):
And in NBA news, yep, you guys talked about it.
Speaker 7 (01:50:34):
Nas Reed's Center of the Timberwoods has agreed to a
three year, forty two million dollars deal. Bleacher Rapport earlier
today reporting that the Suns are moving forward with the
plan of keeping DeAndre eighton Terrible Idea, we talked about it.
Speaker 8 (01:50:46):
Mark Stein reported.
Speaker 7 (01:50:47):
That the Grizzlies did have an interest in Draymond Green
before pursuing Marcus Smart, and there is a strong confidence
that Draymond and the Warriors will agree on a multi
year deal.
Speaker 8 (01:51:00):
Is the latest. Guys, It's been fun.
Speaker 2 (01:51:02):
That's always funny.
Speaker 8 (01:51:05):
Quitter, quitter, quitter? Why am I a quitter? What are
you gonna flex now? What are gonna flex now? Huh?
Speaker 1 (01:51:12):
Well, because the show's not over.
Speaker 8 (01:51:13):
You, I believe me. I am just wrapping up my update.
If you're gonna check in with me, I will be here. Okay, okay, no,
hold us.
Speaker 2 (01:51:25):
We like to hear right there. Very nice.
Speaker 8 (01:51:28):
What is the word? I don't even use that word.
Speaker 2 (01:51:29):
What do you call.
Speaker 8 (01:51:31):
No, it's yeah. How do you say sock?
Speaker 7 (01:51:34):
Oh, Calais, It's because we don't use that word for socks,
so I always forget what it is.
Speaker 2 (01:51:39):
What do you use for socks?
Speaker 7 (01:51:40):
We say medias, medias.
Speaker 8 (01:51:43):
Media, yeah, medias. No, what is it.
Speaker 2 (01:51:46):
Again, Calisthenis, that's what it is.
Speaker 8 (01:51:50):
I know, we just don't use that word.
Speaker 2 (01:51:53):
No, No, I love Hey cal say teena's you know
they don't.
Speaker 8 (01:52:00):
And I know the way he says, it's so good.
Speaker 2 (01:52:02):
It's sorry that. By the way, what do you think
about nas red Instead of twin towers, we got trio towers.
Speaker 7 (01:52:18):
I mean, that's what helped the Lakers win in the bubble,
having so many tall people.
Speaker 1 (01:52:22):
Actually, yeah, but they were on like minimum contract.
Speaker 8 (01:52:26):
Yeah, no, for sure, Yes, ridiculous.
Speaker 7 (01:52:28):
Rudy Gobert should not be making this money, that's for
that's for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:52:32):
Hey, all these NBA rumors, how about another one that's
not gonna come true. But there was a rumor about
Draymond Green and connecting the dots and hey, the Sacramento
Kings they got a lot of cap room. No not, dude,
they need some defensive intensity.
Speaker 3 (01:52:50):
Listen, Draymond Green is going back to the words. He
knows where his brand's buttered. But yeah, he's like, I'm
going to be a Hall of Famer at six sixes
because because of the dudes that I'm playing with the system.
Speaker 1 (01:53:05):
Obviously, he's a.
Speaker 3 (01:53:07):
He's a genius on the on the floor, like in
terms of basketball, which you're just like, okay, I mean
he knows he can't just walk into any team and
and and at work, will will he help any team
be better?
Speaker 1 (01:53:20):
Yeah? But there's only so much that he can add, right, right?
Speaker 2 (01:53:25):
Do you think that he has that much awareness?
Speaker 1 (01:53:28):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (01:53:29):
I do too, Yes, I do too.
Speaker 3 (01:53:32):
Yond self reflects when you listen to his podcast, he
self reflects, like when like when he talks about Steve Kerr,
he was like, yeah, there was a time where Steve
Kerr was on the sideline and he was like, man,
I'm sick of Draymond's ish and and he was like
at first he was offended by it, and then he
thought about it.
Speaker 1 (01:53:52):
He was like, Damn, I'd be sick of my mess too.
He's like, I'd be sick. I'd be sick of as too.
He was like, I gotta get better.
Speaker 2 (01:54:01):
Can you imagine for a second, Draymond in a Sacramento
King's uniform.
Speaker 3 (01:54:06):
Oh god, that would Warriors. Warriors fans would be like,
good luck, buddy.
Speaker 2 (01:54:11):
That would be worse than Ray Allen leaving the Celtics
and going to the Miami Heat. I honestly believe that
Draymon's been with the Warriors' he's known as a Warrior
like Ray Allen. He didn't just play for the Boston Celtics,
you know, and when he went to the Miami Heat,
that was a huge, huge deal. No that I'm not
(01:54:33):
saying like Steph would be better to.
Speaker 3 (01:54:35):
No, No, that would That'd be like Paul Pierce going
to go play with Lebron.
Speaker 2 (01:54:40):
Right, Yeah, that's a better one because Paul Pierce was
there for over a decade. Yeah, like Draymond is not
going to Sacramento. Sorry, that's That was a headline where
I'm like, really, the other headline I saw this was beautiful,
George real fast here. It was about the NFL and
Baker Mayfield. It's just it's yeah, yeah, it was about
(01:55:01):
Baker Mayfield. And it was like, I'm trying to find
the exact wording of it right here, but it made
me laugh out loud, where I was like, yeah, Okay, yeah,
I will be fast asleep on this one. It said
something like don't sleep on a Baker comeback, and I
was like, consider me firmly.
Speaker 1 (01:55:20):
Passed out come back. Yeah, he got a come before
he comes back.
Speaker 2 (01:55:26):
That's exactly right. We haven't gotten the first part done yet.
Speaker 3 (01:55:31):
That just that just made me think of a very
funny Chris Pratt outtake from the community.
Speaker 2 (01:55:37):
Uh oh, okay, all right, Oh here it is headline
don't sleep on a Baker bounce back. That's what it was.
I was like, okay, I'm fast asleep actually on that one. Okay,
coming up next. You know that line in Dumb and
Dumber George where it ends, were like, and you completely
redeemed yourself, You know that one. I think I've done
(01:55:58):
the exact opposite of that. I'll have some details for
you right around the corner. I'm Brian, No, he's George Reister.
This is Fox Sports Radio all for.
Speaker 4 (01:56:06):
You on the way.
Speaker 2 (01:56:06):
And that's lifted in the air deep down the left
field line. That's slicing towards the pole.
Speaker 1 (01:56:11):
That is a fair ball and a home run.
Speaker 2 (01:56:15):
Matt Olsen makes them pay the price, a three run homer.
Speaker 1 (01:56:19):
Down the line.
Speaker 2 (01:56:22):
Brian know, he's George Reister here on Fox Sports Radio.

Red's at one twelve in a row, and the Braves
win the last two of the series there as they
hold on to beat the Reds seven to six today, George,
you got a love for baseball this time of year.
Speaker 3 (01:56:56):
A little bit that got love for the team that
you just mentioned. They got two players on there that
I love to watch. One of them is just absolutely
well the.
Speaker 2 (01:57:07):
De la Cruz. You like the new young gun over there.
Speaker 3 (01:57:10):
He's number two on the list. It is Hunter Green first,
because no the kid since high school. But then Elie Delacruz. Oh,
he's number two on the list, but he's number one
in our hearts because this kid is I mean electric,
(01:57:30):
seventy at bats in and he's already it's clear he's
a star.
Speaker 2 (01:57:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:57:36):
All he has to do is just stay focused. If
he can stay focused and stay healthy. My god, Like
this is we're watching Lebron.
Speaker 1 (01:57:48):
James of baseball. Whoa, and he's magnetic.
Speaker 3 (01:57:54):
I said, whoa. If he can stay healthy and if
he stays.
Speaker 2 (01:57:58):
Focused, that's uh type praise George seventy at bats in
And I know he's been electric.
Speaker 3 (01:58:04):
I'm saying that that's where the trajectory is, like like like, this.
Speaker 1 (01:58:08):
Isn't a insanity moment.
Speaker 2 (01:58:11):
No, this is right? Yeah yeah, yeah, no, he seems
to be the real deal. But the Lebron of baseball,
I know how you feel about Lebron.
Speaker 1 (01:58:19):
That that is yes, that's very him.
Speaker 3 (01:58:23):
And when I say the Lebron, I mean like somebody
who who wear the the hype is substantial and it
turns out to be real and he turns out to
be a player who is not Mike Trout and where
like Mike Trout outside of baseball in terms of where
he rates and all of that stuff is zero.
Speaker 2 (01:58:45):
Okay, So you're talking about living up to incredible hype,
not necessarily being on the same.
Speaker 3 (01:58:50):
Yeah yeah yeah, And that and that he turns out
somebody that we that we want to see in commercials,
that we want to see on TV shows and all right,
I think he turns out to be that.
Speaker 2 (01:59:02):
By the way, George, maybe the opposite of the dumb
and dumber line, and you completely redeemed yourself. I don't
know how big of a transgression this will be in
your book, but I was doing some fill in for
a Milwaukee station this week. The game over there, I
heeart affiliate shout out and I don't know. Just throughout conversation,
I let it be known I had never tried chili before.
(01:59:25):
They were not happy about this, and you bitches due you.
I tried. I tried this.
Speaker 1 (01:59:30):
At the end of this, I know it's.
Speaker 2 (01:59:33):
A beating up on me for three hours George or.
Speaker 1 (01:59:35):
A show arsonist.
Speaker 2 (01:59:37):
Good job, but I tried it. Not bad. I think
I'm one and done. I don't think I'm going back
for seconds. But I have really tried it. I have
tried it. But hey, everybody, have a great evening. We'll
catch you next week. Have a good one, win lots
of cash.
