(00:29):
we dive right in, We dive right in. Aaron Rodgers,
the new Jets quarterback. He responds to Broncos head coach
Sean Payton. Sean Payton went scorched. Earth was crushing the
Daniel Hackett, crushed the Jets, actually crushed his current team,
the Broncos, for all they handled Russell Wilson last year,
(00:50):
and Rogers didn't take He took exception to it. He
didn't take kindly to these comments over here. Crushing the
Daniel Hackett, who's his offensive coordinator with the Jets right
now here is what Rogers had to say on NFL Plus.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
I love Nathaniel Hackett, and those comments were very surprising
for a coach to do that to another coach. It
made me feel bad that someone who's accomplished a lot
in the league. Is that insecure that they have to
take another man down to set themselves up for some
sort of easy fall if it doesn't go well for
that team this year. I thought it was way out
(01:25):
of line, inappropriate, and I think he needs to keep
my coach's names out of his mouth.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
We got words back and forth. If you missed it,
what Sean Payton originally said about Nathaniel Hackett his coaching
job last year with the Broncos. It might have been
one of the worst coaching jobs in the history of
the NFL, that's how bad it was. And he talked
about the Broncos doing basically the exact opposite of what
went down last season. Rogers didn't like it. He let
(01:54):
it be known. Look, George, I understand where Rogers is
coming from, and for Seany to go scorched earth the
way he did, I can understand why Rogers would take
exception to that, and I like how he laid it
out there. I have no problem with what he said.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
First question is, but did he lie?
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Though, No, he did not.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
He did. I'm not talking about Aaron Rodgers. I'm talking
I know Sean.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
No, he was telling the truth.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
Yes, Sean Payton told the truth.
Speaker 4 (02:23):
The only thing I didn't like about Sean Payton's statement
and now now granted, was it was it over the
top for an NFL coach to to say that about
another former coach that he didn't necessarily have a public
beef with or something.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, it was a lot. It was a
It was a lot. However though, however that even in
it being a.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
Lot, you still you You still were like, Okay, it's true.
And then and they Sean Payton came back and said, well, man,
I still had my NBC hat on.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
That's my bad fob.
Speaker 4 (03:07):
Bro, if you're gonna go full WWE heal, you gotta
own it. You can't then go back and be like, ah, man, listen,
I was just still analysting, bro, just just keep it
a bean, Just keep it a hunt and be like
I said what I said. Yeah, at that point, if
you weren't gonna full fledge apologize.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
Then then you gotta go. I said what I said.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
Right, and listen. Sean Payton regreted it. This was his
comment following his Scorched Earth comments. Right, so he does
this USA Today interview with Jarrett Bell. He says Nathaniel
Hackett was awful last year. I'm paraphrasing. Then he circled
back the next day after this becomes a full blown story.
(03:53):
And this is what Sean Payton had to say.
Speaker 5 (03:55):
I had one of those moments where I still had
my Fox hat on and not my coaching on, and uh,
you know, I said this to the team in the
meeting yesterday. We've had a great off season relative to that,
you know, and I've been preaching that message. And here
I am the veteran, you know, stepping in it. And uh,
it was. It was a learning experience for me. It
was a mistake. Obviously I needed a little bit more filter.
Speaker 4 (04:16):
You know.
Speaker 5 (04:17):
We're past that season last year, and and you know
I said what I said, and obviously I needed it
a little bit more restraint.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
And I regret that, and.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
I regret that.
Speaker 4 (04:28):
Yeah, I'm not sorry for what I said, though, Yeah
I said what I said.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
I could use that for my gambling picks gone wrong.
You know, if I had I don't know, complete hypothetical,
if I had the Dodgers today, and I regret that.
You know, I've actually got it.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
I should have. I should have I should have shown
a bit more restraint.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
Yes, yeah, showed a litle bit more restraint there. I've
got the reds for the record. But but now hear you, George.
It's one of those deals where we know how he
really feels regard so he can spin it and say, hey,
I regret that I should have chosen my words more carefully.
I still had my analyst had on you know, my bad.
That's fine. He can dress it up however he wants,
(05:12):
but at the end of the day, Nathaniel Hackett knows
exactly how Sean Payton feels about him.
Speaker 4 (05:18):
Yes, and the job he did, and so he knows
how everybody else feels about it too, because it was shoddy.
Now I will say though that I did not have
on my bingo card. Multiple Jets players coming out to
defend Nathaniel Hackett, and it's not that he's not their coach.
(05:42):
It's just when do players have to come out and
defend their coach. It actually goes the other way around,
not Nathaniel Hackett getting defended by Aaron Rodgers. He's supposed
to defend Aaron Rodgers, not the other way around. Because
if you if you have Robert Salah make comments about
(06:05):
it like for you know, just saying, oh, basically, hater's
gonna hater's gonna hate. Then as a player, I promise
you I'm not commenting on this. I'm not because because
the way the coaching profession works is is that they
give their friends jobs jobs for people who they've worked
(06:27):
at at other places, and you know, and and their
kids friends and their you know, former teammates and.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
All that stuff. That's who they give jobs to.
Speaker 4 (06:37):
So and as a player, you are always auditioning for
the other thirty two teams of the other thirty one
teams in the league. What I'm not gonna do is
get on here and defend a coach vehemently like that.
Uh uh nope, nope, n a because I might need
one of these other jobs later. So uh yeah, I
(06:57):
gotta look out for me, because y'all always gonna look
out for you.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Yeah, listen, I hear you. It's certainly the exception. It
has happened. I couldn't think of it off the top
of my head, so I've been digging. It happened after
the playoff loss. Remember the Chargers blew that huge lead
against Jacksonville, and there are a lot of critics coming
after Brandon Staley. Justin Herbert was one of the guys
that stood up and had his coaches back. It happens
(07:23):
from time to time, but you're right, it's the exception.
It's the other way around. Typically it's the head coach
supporting the player. Every now and then you get the
player supporting the coach. But I hear you right, like, well,
to be fair, coach has changed addresses too. Brandon Staley
might be one of those guys changing addresses if he
doesn't get it done. So you know, he had some
(07:45):
movement that way.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
As well, Absolutely so.
Speaker 4 (07:48):
But it is rare that you see coaches come out
and criticize another one because because that business, it's the
good old boys networking.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
You don't step on the good old boys like.
Speaker 4 (07:58):
You got to have, you know, either deep enough pockets
or a deep enough you know, like goodwill built up
generally around the league. But seanp Sean Payton in particular,
he's a guy that if this don't work out for him,
he'll go right back into booth, no problem. He's a
super Bowl champion. You know somebody will want him.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
Fox was like, where was this when you were here?
Because he was very milk toast. Oh Fox, he didn't
want to rock the boat and he's looking for another job.
Speaker 4 (08:31):
So exactly so where was this when when we were
asking you for it?
Speaker 2 (08:36):
Fam, Yeah, but now the networks are like, okay, if
you give us the head coach version of Sean Payton, has.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
It, that's what we want?
Speaker 2 (08:45):
We don't know we want, yeah, yeah, but don't give
us the analyst version of Sean pay That's not the
analyst that we want.
Speaker 4 (08:52):
No, Yeah, you whoever, you whoever you think you are
right now, that's that's the guy we want.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
By the way, more wins for which team? Are you
going Jets who are in a loaded division? Or are
you going Broncos? Who? I mean, listen, Chiefs, Chargers? That's
not a cakewalk either. But what do you think is
there a resurgence with Russ? Does it kick in the
gear with Rogers? Match with the nasty defense? What do
(09:21):
you think, Kang Green?
Speaker 6 (09:22):
Here?
Speaker 4 (09:25):
History tells me, right, history tells me that they both
could make the playoffs?
Speaker 2 (09:30):
Right, okay?
Speaker 1 (09:31):
I mean, because there have to be seven new teams
in the playoffs every single year.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
By the way, if you feel like doing that today, George,
that is a nasty exercise. I did it the other day.
I was filling in for an indie station.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
Brock kick, I can kick the Bengals out of the
playoffs right now.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
I don't know which is more gross, George, is to
find the seven that won't repeat as playoff teams or
find the seven that will be new playoff teams. Both
are gross. It's not easy to do either.
Speaker 4 (10:02):
Really, Oh, it is an exercise in pain, bro because
it means that you have to leave off teams that
on paper just look so solid. Yeah, but but remember
we uh in picking it, we may have already gotten
a life raft from the Bengals.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
Well, hey man, that's the thing is. I don't Joe
Burrow Linger, I don't think it's gonna be a big deal.
Speaker 1 (10:28):
What do are you talking about?
Speaker 2 (10:30):
No, well with the caf stress, So what do you
think here?
Speaker 1 (10:34):
Okay?
Speaker 4 (10:34):
So Zach Taylor, when Joe burrow first got hurt, first
thing is he said is the first thing he said
immediately after practice.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
You never know this thing could be day to day.
And I was like, day to day? Did you see him?
That ain't day to day?
Speaker 4 (10:50):
First thing is and calves are tough and it's his
right calf, which makes it even more so. And remember
it's not just a calf strain because he already had
a sleeve on that calv already going into practice. So
now and remember that, well, depending on where it is,
this could be uh and a Kevin Durant.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
I was hoping that. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (11:17):
Yeah, so now so now now, now let's play a
word a word game. Okay, no, Now, had had the
Bengals come out and said he would be out a
couple of weeks, how long would you think that that
would be? What is the minimum and maximum amount of
time to take it?
Speaker 2 (11:36):
Okay, it could be between I'd say two to probably
four or five for a couple of weeks. For a
couple of weeks, I would say, but somewhere between two
and four most likely.
Speaker 4 (11:49):
Okay, see me, absolutely not a few means two to
you get two to two and six days?
Speaker 1 (11:56):
That's it.
Speaker 2 (11:58):
Really. But I'm saying, and I'm trying to decode if
the team say that's the question you asked me, the
team were to say that, how long do I think
in actuality it would be?
Speaker 7 (12:07):
So?
Speaker 4 (12:07):
Now, now, how about if the team said he'll be
out a few weeks? How how what what's the timeframe
on that to you?
Speaker 2 (12:13):
So you said, what was the first a couple?
Speaker 1 (12:16):
Ye, a couple of weeks?
Speaker 2 (12:17):
Okay, now it's a few weeks. Okay, so right, similar,
I don't see much difference between the two.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
You don't see any difference between a couple and a few.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
No, I don't. Oh my god, what we're talking multiple?
It's multiple either way.
Speaker 4 (12:32):
No, dude, A couple is between like one and and
one in one day.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
No, it's not a couple. It's not that it doesn't
start with one. It starts with two.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
Listen, it's in between like one in one.
Speaker 8 (12:45):
Day, So it's not a couple. Can't start with one?
Can't you anything over one week? Anything over one week
and under three weeks? So so you get one in
one day to in six days, and then when they
say a few weeks, that gives me three to five,
(13:06):
and then from and then from three to five, then.
Speaker 4 (13:09):
We get several that's several weeks. Several weeks is five
or more?
Speaker 2 (13:16):
You are a beauty here. Now I can't get to
the more in depth because I fundamentally disagree.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
Is montcy Blagos at work yet? Okay?
Speaker 2 (13:28):
If I said, hey, hey, George, can you give me
a couple of bucks? Are you just giving me one dollar? No?
It starts with a minimum, a minimum of two.
Speaker 4 (13:37):
Dollars, okay, okay, so or it could be like a dollar,
a dollar eighty six cents.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
No, a couple of bucks means at least two dollars.
Speaker 4 (13:48):
A couple of winks my way available, bo Benson. Are
you there somebody? We need a lifeline around this joint.
Somebody with some with some common sense around.
Speaker 1 (13:59):
Here, George.
Speaker 9 (14:00):
Couple?
Speaker 2 (14:02):
Okay? If it's like, hey, we're a couple, does that
mean you're just single? Or does that mean you have
a partner and there are two of you? Got I'm
just asking there's a couple? Mean one?
Speaker 1 (14:12):
How How long is a couple of weeks to you?
Speaker 4 (14:14):
Two?
Speaker 1 (14:16):
Thank you? How long is a few weeks?
Speaker 10 (14:20):
A few weeks to me? Is anywhere between five and seven?
Speaker 1 (14:25):
Oh? Okay? How many is several?
Speaker 10 (14:28):
Several? Is a team trying to hide that their player
is going to be out for two or three months?
Speaker 1 (14:33):
Thank you?
Speaker 11 (14:34):
Can I jump in here?
Speaker 2 (14:36):
Look, let's hear at Iowa.
Speaker 11 (14:37):
A couple, a few? Several? They all mean two or more?
Speaker 2 (14:41):
To me?
Speaker 10 (14:42):
Oh my god, that's us.
Speaker 11 (14:46):
There's a synonymous couple.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
They are not snonymous?
Speaker 11 (14:49):
What is wrong with you?
Speaker 2 (14:52):
Was just two?
Speaker 4 (14:53):
You guys never got any the way I.
Speaker 1 (14:57):
Was Sam and no never got an a.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
Now here's the question.
Speaker 10 (15:01):
My strongest suit is go ahead, bo, What is is
a grade one sprain the same as a grade two sprain?
Like there's degrees to everything like.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
That, there are, But let's let's start with this. A
couple that can't be one? Right?
Speaker 5 (15:16):
No?
Speaker 1 (15:16):
Correct?
Speaker 2 (15:17):
Okay? Iowa you with me on that.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
Yeah, it's more than one, right.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
That's what you've said. It starts with it could be
one and one day or a couple of bucks? Is
not a dollar eighty six, that's right, it's at least two,
that's right, fundamentally wrong, that's two.
Speaker 4 (15:31):
That that that means you need a couple of bucks.
That means that you need.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
At least it means I need at a bare minimum
multiple dollars. Yes, right, right, So it can't be anything
less than two.
Speaker 4 (15:45):
But it's no I'm saying it's over one? Is is?
Is one? Is one week in one day? Over one?
Speaker 1 (15:54):
Yes? Right?
Speaker 12 (15:54):
But it's not okay, but it's not that means that
means that that that's saying if somebody says he'll be
out a couple of weeks and and he comes back
in a week and two days.
Speaker 1 (16:05):
That's still pretty accurate.
Speaker 11 (16:08):
Okay, whatever you were getting.
Speaker 4 (16:10):
Into this, there's a big difference between a couple, a few,
and several.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
I don't think so.
Speaker 11 (16:16):
I think they're all the relatively the same.
Speaker 2 (16:17):
Yeah, I think they're very similar. Hey, we're brought to

(18:03):
we've got Colts running back. Jonathan Taylor officially requesting a
trade from Indy. He met with Colt Steam owner Jim Ursay.
That's where he requested the trade. And this is wild.
This escalated very very quickly, where Ersay is just a
couple of days ago. This week, he put out a
(18:24):
tweet where he was talking about the running back situation
and hey, we've got a negotiated CBA. Things aren't changing.
We're not switching around the value of franchise tags or
then obviously that was not the greatest thing that Jonathan
Taylor wanted to hear, and then Ersay he clarified those comments,
(18:45):
speaking to ESPN, saying the comment wasn't really directed at Jonathan.
We haven't exchanged any contract numbers with each other or
anything like that, so it's not like we're in the
midst of that. And it's like, wait, hold on, so
you haven't even offered this kind of contract. That doesn't
help things either. And now we get the trade request.
What do you make of this whole scenario?
Speaker 4 (19:06):
Whoever is advising Jonathan Taylor, he needs to fire them, Like,
why are you demanding a trade at this point in time?
You're demanding a trade for what you are in a
contract year and you have to play and you have
(19:30):
to play well, So why are we.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
Talking about this?
Speaker 7 (19:35):
Bro?
Speaker 4 (19:37):
Hey, why are we having this discussion? You rushed for
eight hundred yards last year and weren't healthy. What is
there to talk about. I've heard from a very reliable
source that this man wanted that he wants an extension
near sixteen million dollars.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
Oh, he wants McCaffrey money.
Speaker 4 (20:02):
Listen, it is not gonna happen. He could rest for
two thousand yards this year. He's not getting McCaffrey money.
It is just not in the cars for running backs
right now. Yeah, until you prove that you are a
generational talent like Adrian Peterson, you will not be getting
paid like that.
Speaker 2 (20:22):
Well, and that's where go ahead.
Speaker 4 (20:24):
We can argue about whether it's fair, whether it's right,
any of that stuff.
Speaker 1 (20:27):
I'm just telling you to reality to the situation now.
Speaker 2 (20:30):
I hear you, man. And that's the thing where look,
on one hand, I get that Jonathan Taylor is saying
I want the organization to show that they're valuing me.
That's fine, okay, And you get Ursay's tweet and there's
some history and he's not getting the contract that he
wants and he gets frustrated asks for a trade. I
(20:50):
do get that. But to your point, George, what other
team is going to show him the love? It's just
the market as a whole. So even if he goes elsewhere,
he's not gonna get the deal he's seeking from them either.
Speaker 4 (21:03):
No, he could be a free agent right now and
he's not gonna get And he's not gonna get sixteen million.
Speaker 1 (21:12):
Dollars a year.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
No, absolutely not. No, especially like you said, he's not
coming off of his eighteen hundred season like two years ago.
He's coming off his eight hundred season. In terms of
rushing yards, that's a big difference.
Speaker 4 (21:27):
Yeah, I just think that we need to that like
players are filling a little bit more anxious at this
moment and that they're trying to find a way. But
Jonathan Taylor has no leverage. He rushs for eight hundred yards.
He needs to play well that first of all, he
needs to play so he can get a new contract, right,
(21:49):
and then he needs to play well so he can
get a new contract. So he needs to do a
so like sitting out or whole Now, that isn't an option.
So he's just gonna do just sit there and be
frustrated all season. Who can they trade you to that
is going to pay you big money?
Speaker 2 (22:09):
Well, that's the other part is who's going to trade
for you? I mean that's a question. Think about that.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
There are some teams.
Speaker 4 (22:16):
I think there would be Jonathan Taylor. But the but
the issue is though.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
They're not gonna compensation, it's.
Speaker 1 (22:24):
Even with with with compensation.
Speaker 4 (22:27):
Is there a running back in the league, any running
back in the league that's worth the first at this
point in time. At one point in time, I thought
that Derek Henry would have been But at this point
in time, is there a running back in the league
that's worth that's worth a first round pick?
Speaker 1 (22:45):
Well?
Speaker 2 (22:45):
Not where the market is.
Speaker 4 (22:47):
No, no, no, no, I'm just saying just in general,
and you're trading for a player. Is there any running
back in the league that Brian No would trade for
a first round pick?
Speaker 14 (22:56):
Well?
Speaker 2 (22:56):
No, because again it's where the market is that the
market show in terms of value, in terms of production. Yeah,
I think you could make that argument. But if I
don't have to overspend, right, if I can get you
for a third rounder, I'm not gonna give you a
first rounder.
Speaker 4 (23:14):
Is there any wide receiver that you would trade a
first round pick for?
Speaker 2 (23:17):
Absolutely a bunch, right, yes?
Speaker 1 (23:20):
Are there any quarterbacks?
Speaker 2 (23:23):
The question is how many first rounds?
Speaker 4 (23:26):
How many would you are there any tackles that you
would trade for a first pick. Yes, defensive tackles.
Speaker 2 (23:33):
Defensive tackles. Yeah, there'd be a.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
Few defensive ends.
Speaker 2 (23:37):
A lot linebackers, uh, like a middle linebacker. Yeah, you
might get you might get a one for I mean
I can't remember what Bryan Smith. Warner's a stud.
Speaker 4 (23:49):
Yeah, how about corner, No doubt exactly.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
There's only like, are there any tight ends that you
would trade a first round pick for?
Speaker 2 (24:01):
I mean, Kelsey's up there in age. If he wasn't
that old, I mean, look, imagine he was on.
Speaker 1 (24:09):
The trade like three positions. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
Do you think a team would trade at this age
for for Kelsey? If he was somehow on the trading block,
you think they'd get a filled.
Speaker 4 (24:19):
Yeah, they would happily trade for him. I don't know
if they would give up a first round pick, but
I mean if you get three three more top tier
years out of him, then hell it was worth it.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
Yeah he's uh he turns thirty four in October. Kelsey, Yeah,
he can up.
Speaker 4 (24:38):
But these dudes have been defying gravity, man, these athletes.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
But that's the thing though, George, think about this too.
If you look at Jonathan Taylor wanting to be traded.
Dalvin Cook is still a free agent. So I mean
you might like Jonathan Taylor more and he's younger, but
you don't have to trade anything to land Dalvin Cook. Yeah,
doesn't help Jonathan Taylor out.
Speaker 4 (25:02):
Think about that, Dalvin Cook, Leonard Fournette. Like guys who
were productive last year haven't boiled homes yet. Ezekiel Elliott
Now Ezekiel's in a little bit different spot.
Speaker 1 (25:16):
Well, actually he's more.
Speaker 4 (25:17):
In the four net spot of like, okay, he's no
longer the lead back. Will he play special teams or
will he won't play special teams? Like Cook is still
a good back, but like there's no market for it.
Speaker 1 (25:33):
Yeah, I mean you you would.
Speaker 4 (25:34):
Bring Dalvin Cook on three four million dollars, Maybe it's
about it. Nobody likes Dalvin Cook at eight million dollars
right now.
Speaker 2 (25:46):
No, that's too high. I'd say it's somewhere around six ish.
Speaker 4 (25:50):
Yeah, because you can draft a rookie. If you draft
the right rookie, you can get the exact same production.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
Yeah, but that's also Jonathan Taylor. He's set to make
four point three million this season, Like, which would a
team rather do? Honestly? George would you rather sign Dalvin
Cook to a deal let's just call it five million
somewhere around there. You don't have to give up anything,
Just sign him to a five million dollar deal. Or
do you trade for Jonathan Taylor? He's on the You're
(26:17):
on the hook for four point three million, and you
got to give up a draft pick, however high that is.
There are gonna be some teams that say, we don't
know if Jonathan Taylor is gonna be here, like after
this season, so why are we giving up a draft pick?
If that's the.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
Case, that's a fact, Jack.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
Yeah, we got more facts being flown right at you
by someone that goes by the name of Moncy Bolanos.
Facts galore. What do we need to know over here?
Speaker 1 (26:47):
Where were you, Monty when I needed you?
Speaker 6 (26:49):
I was think I was recording something, and I would
not have agreed with you. I came in last night
and I was like, oh, yeah, no, I I A
couple is more than one?
Speaker 4 (27:01):
Yes, I said, a couple is anything no more than seven,
one less than three.
Speaker 6 (27:05):
Yeah, no, no, no, it's definitely more than one. There's
a one shouldn't even be in the question.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
It's a bare minimum of two, correct, correct.
Speaker 4 (27:14):
Okay, So how many how how many weeks is a
few monts?
Speaker 6 (27:18):
If I heard a few weeks, I would think between
three and five.
Speaker 1 (27:22):
Thank you? And how many is seven days?
Speaker 9 (27:24):
And how many as several?
Speaker 2 (27:26):
Yeah, more than five.
Speaker 1 (27:28):
Thank You's see, we were not getting this again.
Speaker 6 (27:34):
Clearly I missed. I missed part of it. So that's
why I'm catching. So I guess I'm fifty to fifty
on this one.
Speaker 2 (27:39):
I guess you at least agree that it starts with
the bare minimum of two.
Speaker 1 (27:45):
Okay, I agree with that too.
Speaker 6 (27:47):
But you I think you said like between one and
five days or something.
Speaker 4 (27:51):
No I said no, I said one one in one day.
Any that that anything more than one week and less
than two weeks and six days qualified as a company.
Speaker 9 (28:05):
That's a lot. There's a lot of deep confused.
Speaker 6 (28:09):
Exactly exactly, better start with two bare minimum, all right?
Speaking about getting paid, Danielle Hunter is getting paid. He
and the Vikings have agreed to terms on a one
year deal that can be worth up to twenty million,
with seventeen million guaranteed, So at least he's getting his money.
We're gonna move on to Major League Baseball. Elie Dela
Cruz are you about to hit a home run against
(28:30):
the Dodgers. He might again, he already hit one earlier
today and Cincinnati is all over the Dodgers in La
It is seven zero.
Speaker 9 (28:38):
Top of the sixth inning. And I can't even imagine
being at this game.
Speaker 6 (28:42):
It is so hot, it is humid over here, and
you're losing seven zero o O.
Speaker 2 (28:47):
I would have been so mad.
Speaker 1 (28:48):
Oh yes, the heat in the heat.
Speaker 9 (28:52):
And they paid thirty dollars from Margarita. Absolutely not.
Speaker 4 (28:57):
I was out in Vegas and it was like, the
worst thing about Vegas, honestly, is that when it's so
hot and the wind is blowing that the wind tears
your eyes up because the wind is so damn hot.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
And uh yeah. But I was happy Monta because the
fight was amazing.
Speaker 9 (29:17):
I mean, it looked amazing.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
Did Does that qualify as a flex right there?
Speaker 9 (29:21):
A little bit?
Speaker 2 (29:22):
Just being in Vegas, I was like, man, I was
there specifically for the fight. It was amazing.
Speaker 9 (29:27):
Like I feel like, yeah, oh right, flexing Sundays. That's fine,
it's good. No, we're happy for you.
Speaker 6 (29:34):
We're happy for you that you were watching to fight
in the ac in Vegas.
Speaker 9 (29:39):
We're happy for you.
Speaker 1 (29:39):
We're happy for you, towelve year old.
Speaker 9 (29:42):
That's precious. That's precious.
Speaker 6 (29:44):
The Giants are beating the Red Sox a dot at
home to zero, bottom of the six inning. Mariners still
up on the Diamondbacks three zero, bottom of the fifth inning.
In Arizona, the Rangers and the Padres are tied at
one apiece.
Speaker 9 (29:55):
The Rangers have gotten some new pictures.
Speaker 6 (29:57):
Your Cardinals, Yeah, the're getting rid of everybody. They traded
reliever Jordan Hicks to the Blue Jays and left handed
starter Jordan Montgomery and reliever Chris Stratton to the Rangers.
But your Cardinals did snap the Cubs a game winning
streak today, blanking them three zero.
Speaker 4 (30:13):
They did.
Speaker 6 (30:18):
In fact, the Cubs they've taken Cody Bellinger off the
trade market because they think they have a chance. They
were coming into today there were only three and a
half games behind the first place Brewers. They also lost,
so maybe that's still the same. And then they were
three games out of the final walkcard spot in the
end now coming into today's games, So they're not trading.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
No, just like wait wait, wait, have they traded several
players meaning at least two mon Is that three? Three?
Speaker 1 (30:48):
Okay? They traded a few players. Stop it.
Speaker 9 (30:53):
That's right, that's shopping the Angels.
Speaker 6 (30:55):
They held on to beat the Blue Jays three to
two and ten, and needs Hunter Renfro was the hero.
He hit the two run homer in the tenth inning.
The Braves were the ones who beat the Birds eight
to six. Matt Olsen two homers in the victory. Five
RBIs total the Rays within eight to two victory over
the Astros. You know, I like that one. The Mets
top the Nationals five to two. Justin Verlander with the
win career win number two hundred and fifty for Justin Verlander,
(31:20):
maybe his last win as a Met.
Speaker 9 (31:22):
Maybe.
Speaker 6 (31:23):
The Pirates rally to beat the Phillies six to four
in ten innings. Josh Pelacios it's his twenty eighth birthday
and it was his first career walk off.
Speaker 9 (31:31):
He was the reason the Pirates ended up beating the Phillies.
Speaker 6 (31:33):
The Marlins came back from behind to beat the Tigers
eight to six, and the Guardians blanked the White Sox
five zero. Royals edged the Twins two to one, and
the Cincinnati Reds have scored did Ellie Diller criuson on
another home run.
Speaker 2 (31:46):
Oh no, he struck out. Well the run home gotcha.
Speaker 9 (31:52):
Yes, they've scored again. So eight zero in La in
the sun back to you, guys, man.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
You would just be getting more irates.
Speaker 9 (31:59):
I would be so mad. I would be struggling to
keep it together.
Speaker 2 (32:04):
Props to the fans. It's just baking in that sun.
Speaker 6 (32:07):
Though, Baker, and it's it's it's humid today in La.
Speaker 4 (32:11):
If we're gonna lose, I honestly, if I'm gonna go
to a game and we're gonna lose, like, I don't
want to lose like three to two, new.
Speaker 9 (32:21):
Dude, So I agree, right, you rather just lose?
Speaker 1 (32:24):
Yeah, yes, get get beat beat up.
Speaker 4 (32:27):
At least let Ellie like do some crazy stuff and
or like Hunter Green at the same time as I
like the kid, and yeah, just just just go ahead,
lay it on and then at the end I can
be like, oh, you won twenty six to zero.
Speaker 1 (32:44):
Congrats this one.
Speaker 9 (32:44):
Game, right, right, I was at the game on Friday.
Speaker 1 (32:47):
I have some of the points to four tomorrow.
Speaker 6 (32:50):
Right, you're not not here because I was at the
game on Friday, and I stayed till the end because
I had hopes that we would pull it off.
Speaker 9 (32:54):
And then we lost by a run.
Speaker 1 (32:56):
Yep, yep.
Speaker 4 (32:57):
I did all that coming back and then yeah with
that with that base hit by Freeman, uh that that
scored two.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
Yep. I was paying attention out there. I was there.
Speaker 9 (33:09):
I was like, all right, I'm gonna stay. This has
a chance.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
I gotta get some details on the fight here. Oh yes, George,
were you there? Were your ringside? Was sweat flying on you?
Speaker 1 (33:19):
How close were you? No? No, no, sweat sweat was
not close enough to fly on me. I did not buy.
Speaker 4 (33:27):
These tickets because no, because because our radio show was
out there on on Thursday and Friday. So so we
were out there, so we were doing some stuff for
serious and stuff like that.
Speaker 1 (33:42):
And then yes, so then they gave us tickets to
the fight.
Speaker 2 (33:47):
So now this is the main question. Did they hook
you up or they go cheap over there at Sirius?
Were you behind it?
Speaker 14 (33:54):
No?
Speaker 1 (33:54):
No, no, no, no no no.
Speaker 4 (33:55):
The showtime paid payd for all. Oh, okay, fight flights,
hotel and then and then you work on radio road.
I was right there next to the odd couple.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
Okay, well listen Brussard and Rob Parker. It was the
bigger fight fan between the two.
Speaker 1 (34:14):
Oh they're both big, big fight fans. On Friday there
you go.
Speaker 2 (34:20):
Yeah, yeah, so you guys were all there watching the
fight together. Yeah, yep, that's great.
Speaker 1 (34:26):
So so it was good, man, it was good. I
got a chance to see.
Speaker 4 (34:31):
Oh listen, I knew the so I came in and
I was expecting Aerospence to win, right.
Speaker 2 (34:37):
You were, Yeah, you were going dog in that funn.
Speaker 1 (34:39):
Hold on, hold on.
Speaker 4 (34:41):
And then on Thursday when we were at the press conference,
I was sitting there and I was talking to my
son and I was like, yo, something, I said, Look
at Crawford's eyes, bro, so he knows something. And then
the way he was talking, I was like, oh, this
is a wrap. Aro's vis is getting beat on. And
(35:01):
then Friday at the way in same thing. And and
then when they showed uh during the Pittbull Cruise fight,
they showed up a looking into both locker rooms and
h Crawford was hit hitting the bags, Arrow was staring
off in the space. And then when it came time
(35:22):
for the ring, walks Ero came out first with the
with the with the guy from Dallas. You know, it
was it was cool for the Dallas people. And then
the guy from Bud Crawford, who's the guy from Dallas.
Speaker 1 (35:37):
I don't even know his name? And then uh it
was a.
Speaker 2 (35:40):
Ray and then eminem you were like, and then and
and then as soon as but it was so loud
in her there and then all these soon as you're.
Speaker 14 (35:50):
Doom doom doom.
Speaker 1 (35:51):
I was like, I was like, is that? I was like,
is he walking out? Okay?
Speaker 2 (35:57):
Okay? Was gonna wrap something? He was just like Terrace
he f and Crawford and that was it that.
Speaker 1 (36:04):
He didn't need to bro he was focused.
Speaker 4 (36:06):
And then as soon as if you could have heard
how the arena went, as soon as m slide slid
into the view, U huh.
Speaker 1 (36:15):
It went crazy.
Speaker 4 (36:16):
Everybody sung the lyrics from cover to cover.
Speaker 1 (36:22):
It was yeay.
Speaker 4 (36:23):
He he had no shot, He had no shot. He
was swimming in the deep.
Speaker 2 (36:27):
Another great performance Terrence Crawford, forty and oh with thirty
one knockouts.
Speaker 1 (36:32):
Eleventh, great knockouts eleven.
Speaker 2 (36:34):
Not just a great counterpuncher. And he really is. This
is gonna sound like hyperbole, but he's like Mayweather with power,
with knock you out power. That's Terrence Crawford.
Speaker 1 (36:45):
Man, dude is an all timer.
Speaker 2 (36:49):
Now, he really is, absolutely is you know who else
is an all timer, Moncey Belanos. According to Moncey, right
around the corner, I'm Brian No, he's George Reister. Keep
it locked right here on Fox Sports Radio. Yeah, Brian, No,
he's George Reister here on Fox Sports Radio. No time
to waste. Let's dive right on into this.
Speaker 6 (37:08):
Corn and now it's time for absolutely that's it's not
gonna be pretty.
Speaker 7 (37:14):
According to Monsi, I love it all right.
Speaker 2 (37:17):
According to Monzi, the NBA can learn from mL.
Speaker 9 (37:22):
Last yep, yeah, let me tell you why.
Speaker 6 (37:24):
Okay, so we all know that the NBA has added
a stupid, confusing, anti climatic in season tournament for the
upcoming NBA season.
Speaker 9 (37:31):
So dumb, so confusing.
Speaker 6 (37:32):
All the games count towards regular season games except the
championship game. Once your team is eliminated, then you're gonna
play regular season games on the days of the tournament.
Isn't being played all of this for money, Bory. The
NBA should take notes from MLS. Right now, they are
on a month long break from the regular season and
are having their own in season tournament called the League's Cup,
where they are playing against Mexican soccer clubs forty seven
(37:56):
teams total seventy seven matches. Every team has to play,
it's not an option, and these games don't matter towards.
Speaker 9 (38:02):
The regular season.
Speaker 6 (38:03):
Instead of playing for money, the top three teams, they
earn berths to the twenty twenty four Gunka Kaff Champions Cup.
The winner automatically advances to that tournament's round of sixteen.
Speaker 9 (38:14):
Brilliant.
Speaker 6 (38:15):
The tournament actually means something.
Speaker 9 (38:18):
The NBA could invite teams.
Speaker 6 (38:19):
From Canada, Mexico, overseas teams for a tournament and then
the top You're gonna say, I'm crazy. The top two
NBA teams automatically clinch a spot in the playoffs. Then
all of a sudden, the n season tournament means something.
The play in spots are even more valuable. The stakes
have to be high, the games have to matter, or
else we're all just wasting our time?
Speaker 9 (38:41):
What are we doing in NBA?
Speaker 1 (38:42):
So that's less confusing, way less confusing.
Speaker 10 (38:45):
You lost like ninety American sports fans with that explanation.
Speaker 9 (38:48):
What are you talking about?
Speaker 10 (38:50):
That's too much for the people who watch sports in
this count.
Speaker 9 (38:52):
So you mean that the NBA is too confusing?
Speaker 10 (38:55):
No, I mean like the winners of the tournament get
two spots in the tournament.
Speaker 9 (39:00):
In a big in a huge tournament.
Speaker 10 (39:02):
Hit You've already lost ninety percent of people to watch
sports in this country.
Speaker 8 (39:05):
I'm confused.
Speaker 9 (39:06):
How are you guys confused?
Speaker 10 (39:08):
I'm confused. I'm just saying that most of the people
that watch sports are confused.
Speaker 9 (39:11):
The fine, the point of this.
Speaker 6 (39:13):
Make the n season tournament of the NBA actually mean
something and if you win, you automatically make it into
the playoffs.
Speaker 7 (39:20):
According to Monsey, not.
Speaker 1 (39:23):
Trading show Hey o tany worth the right mode.
Speaker 6 (39:26):
Last last week, I said I was like a petty
owner and I wouldn't want to do it because I
wasn't gonna help a team, you know, even if it
was with prospects. Okay, now let's talk about the business side,
because now the bottom line, this is a business, so
not trading show Hey. The Angels can expect large crowds
for the rest of the season, more money and tickets, concessions, parking, merchandise.
Even if you think show Hey is going to stay
in LA but head down a freeway to the Dodgers.
(39:46):
The prices between the Angels and the Dodgers night and day,
night and day, right business move for the Angels.
Speaker 10 (39:52):
According to Monsey, you cannot go the speed limit in
the fast lane when there's no traffic.
Speaker 9 (39:56):
Don't do that. That drives me nuts.
Speaker 6 (39:58):
Why are you going sixty five in the fast lane
when there's nobody on the freeway.
Speaker 9 (40:02):
You can go sixty five, go all the way to
the right.
Speaker 6 (40:03):
This happened to me this morning when I was gonna
lose my mind. Guys, I can't do not do that
to me. Don't be that person. Well done, Monci.
Speaker 2 (40:11):
As always, we'll simple back to a couple of those
things coming up next. It's one of the grossest offseason
exercises ever. Oh, this is a gross, gross exercise, but
we will try it on for size NFL style. Coming up,
we are broadcasting live from the tire rack dot Com studios.
Tire rack dot Com will help get you there an
(40:32):
unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road hazard protection, and
over ten thousand recommended installers. Tire rack dot com the
way tire buying should be. All right, George, you mentioned
this earlier in the show where we're gonna get seven
new playoff teams in the NFL. That's what history shows us. Yep,
They're gonna be seven new ones. That's fifty percent. Seven
(40:55):
out of fourteen are gonna be brand new. And look, man,
this is a gros exercise, George, but we're gonna try
it on. We're not scared over here. Some of these
predictions are gonna fail miserably. It is not easy to
pinpoint these teams.
Speaker 1 (41:08):
I was, I was pretty damn good last year. I
just want to point that out.
Speaker 2 (41:12):
Okay, all right, we'll see if you can duplicate your
success from last year. All right, let's start it off here.
If you look at the AFC, who are your playoff
teams from last season that will not be playoff teams
again this season.
Speaker 1 (41:28):
That's a tough one right there.
Speaker 4 (41:29):
But I'm gonna go the Cincinnati Bengals.
Speaker 2 (41:34):
They're out. Why you think this injury is a big
deal here?
Speaker 1 (41:40):
Yes, it's Joe Burrow.
Speaker 2 (41:41):
Okay, yeah, I know it's Joe Burrow. I just don't
know how significant the injury is, that's all.
Speaker 1 (41:46):
Yes, I'm gonna go with the Bengals, okay.
Speaker 4 (41:51):
And the Dolphins.
Speaker 2 (41:59):
Okay, you're taking out my Dolphins, all right.
Speaker 1 (42:02):
And you're be worried about to us and the Chargers.
Speaker 2 (42:05):
Yeah, Okay, Chargers as well anymore in the AFC.
Speaker 1 (42:09):
Nope, nope, I could.
Speaker 4 (42:11):
I was thinking about the Bills, but like Bills and Bengals,
that felt excessive.
Speaker 2 (42:16):
Yeah, I am going to go. Now here's the thing.
Let me preface this. There are crazy things that are
gonna happen in the NFL every single year. If you
think back to last season going in, you would say, Okay,
we know in the NFC that Tampa with Tom Brady
at green Bay, who is a one seed, and the
(42:37):
defending champion Rams, they're gonna be really good in the NFC.
And they all had losing records. Okay, the defending champion
Rams are five and twelve. So I say that because
if you would have said at the time before last season, oh,
all those teams are gonna have losing records, Rams gonna
win five games, people would have thought you were an idiot.
So crazy stuff happens. With that being said, I've got
(42:59):
four AFC teams that are out this season. For four
of them, Chargers, Cincinnati, Jacksonville, and then maybe the most
pushback I'll get the Bills. Bills are out.
Speaker 1 (43:21):
I don't I don't think so.
Speaker 4 (43:22):
You So you said Bills Bengals, Jaguars, and who else Chargers. Yep,
that's that's not unreasonable. What but but would you have
put the Bengals out prior to Joe Burrow's injury.
Speaker 2 (43:33):
I just don't think it's a big deal. I don't.
I don't think he's wait, hold.
Speaker 1 (43:39):
Up, hold up time. Yeah, I'm the hell out. So
you so in your mind you think that.
Speaker 4 (43:47):
If Joe Burrow is, who's by far the second best
quarterback in the in the NFL, that if he starts
and finishes the season that his team would miss the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (44:00):
Well, I don't know that he's gonna play the entire snow.
Speaker 4 (44:03):
I'm just asking if he starts to miss it is
he starts and finishes this season, is there any range
of possibilities that could lead to them missing the playoffs?
Speaker 2 (44:12):
Absolutely?
Speaker 1 (44:13):
Absolutely not.
Speaker 2 (44:14):
You absolutely there are top quarterbacks that don't win thirteen
games every single season.
Speaker 4 (44:21):
There are no top court, there's no second quarterback, best quarterback.
Speaker 1 (44:26):
In the league that don't make the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (44:28):
That listen. Drew Brees was around the area that Joe
Burrow is in right now in terms of being like
a number two, number three player in the NFL. Quarterbacks.
They were seven to nine, like four or five seasons. Okay,
it could happen. It could absolutely happen. If Jamar Chase
goes down, if somehow the defense a little bit leakier
(44:51):
than expected. There are many ways were even a top
flight quarterback misses the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (44:56):
Many now, aside from being riddled with injuries.
Speaker 2 (45:01):
No, okay, riddled. Okay, you disagree with the Bengals, that's fine,
even though you have the Bengals on your list.
Speaker 1 (45:07):
No. No, I asked you.
Speaker 4 (45:10):
I said, did you were you picking them because of
Joe Burrow's injury? You said no, And I was like, no,
you're tripping.
Speaker 2 (45:17):
I'm not because crazy stabbings in the NFL all of
the time. That's a tough division. It's a loaded conference.
It wouldn't surprise me at all if Burrow is upright
and they missed the playoffs. I won't be shocked at all. Wow, yeah,
se NFL man. How about the NFC? George, okay, fourteen,
(45:37):
you gotta take four?
Speaker 1 (45:38):
Utah.
Speaker 4 (45:38):
I was about to say I owe you four teams. Yep,
Buccaneers gone. Okay, SI sayonara, Okay, I'm gonna give you the.
Speaker 1 (45:53):
Damn I'm gonna give you the Giants.
Speaker 2 (45:57):
Giants are out, okay, yep.
Speaker 1 (46:00):
And I am going to give you the I.
Speaker 2 (46:04):
Think I know your next one.
Speaker 1 (46:07):
The Vikings.
Speaker 2 (46:08):
Yep. Now what.
Speaker 1 (46:11):
Seahawks?
Speaker 2 (46:12):
Yeah, you know, I hear you.
Speaker 1 (46:15):
I can't find a world where.
Speaker 4 (46:18):
I mean, I know that San Francisco's quarterbacks, but like
they win no matter who's back there. So the and
the Eagles are just tough, and as long as Hurts
is healthy, they're gonna make the playoffs. But I can
see a world where the Vikings missed the playoffs. And
the Buccaneers, I don't believe that they have any shot
in that division right now with their quarterback play. The
(46:42):
Cowboys keep putting together ten plus win season, so they're
gonna get in. The Giants, yeah, I don't think that
they're gonna be sold on Danny Dimes. Either that or
nine to seven and one ain't gonna get you in
the playoffs this year.
Speaker 2 (46:58):
That's fair. Now here's the deal. I'm with you on
two of those teams. I've got the Giants out, I've
got Tampa out. Goodness, you are eight and nine with
the goat Where are they gonna be with Baker or
Kyle Trask, you know what I mean. So I've got
the Giants Tampa. It just seems too safe to go
with Vikings or the Seahawks. You might hate me. You
(47:21):
might hate me for this, George, but you gotta go wild,
something that no one sees coming.
Speaker 1 (47:27):
Oh God, you're gonna pick the Eagles to miss the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (47:30):
Not Niners. Get out, You're out. They don't get in
the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (47:34):
Get got not that wild. I'm glad you think that.
Speaker 4 (47:39):
Brock Purdy right yeah, like half hurt, and then you're
supposed to believe all the.
Speaker 1 (47:46):
Sam Darnold's the greatest thing since like reports.
Speaker 2 (47:50):
Come on, like that's that's crazy right there. So you've
got Brock Purdy, who played well in five regular season games,
okay as a starter, you got the playoff win against Seattle,
and then he's banged up against the Eagles. What do
you really know about you know, he's banged up heading
into this season. And then you've got Darnold and Trey
(48:10):
Lance in the meantime if you need them. That is
a classic team that has high expectations, George. They're still
not over the NFC title game anytime. Deebo Samuel sits
down to do an interview. He's talking about the Eagles.
It's time to turn the page.
Speaker 7 (48:25):
Man.
Speaker 2 (48:27):
Oh, they absolutely are. They're just hung up on the Eagles.
I think that's a classic team that if they get
off to a rough start, little rocky start, they're that
classic case of a team that has high expectations, they
struggle a little bit, and then they start pressing. I
could see that. And in that division, outside of the
Arizona Cardinals, that's that's not an easy, just walk through
(48:51):
type division. I'm gonna take the Niners out.
Speaker 1 (48:55):
Wow, Yeah, that's a.
Speaker 4 (48:59):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (49:00):
I don't. I don't hate it, though.
Speaker 2 (49:02):
I'm glad that you don't. I was. I was expecting
full blown hatred from you. This is nice, Okay. So
now we got to get seven non playoff teams into
into the playoffs. This is gross also, So I need
let's see three from you in the AFC.
Speaker 4 (49:21):
Who do you like?
Speaker 1 (49:22):
That? Is? That is easy work right there?
Speaker 2 (49:24):
Okay, let's hear easy work.
Speaker 4 (49:26):
So I threw the Bengals out, so somebody's got to
win the division, right yep.
Speaker 1 (49:31):
And I'm giving that to the Ravens.
Speaker 2 (49:33):
Okay, Well, they were already in the playoffs, George.
Speaker 1 (49:37):
And listen, listen here.
Speaker 4 (49:40):
No, so, so I'm saying that that they're gonna be
one of the top three seeds. Okay, So I got
to replace the Chargers, the Dolphins, and the Bengals, right,
that's right, yep, So give me.
Speaker 1 (49:56):
The Jets.
Speaker 2 (49:58):
Uh huh Okay, the Steelers, we'll circle back to that, yep.
And the Broncos in Denver. Okay, sorry, sorry for jumping
the gun there. I thought you were you were taking
the Ravens as a new playoff team.
Speaker 1 (50:15):
No, no, no, no, no no.
Speaker 2 (50:16):
I say they're not gonna win the division.
Speaker 1 (50:18):
I got you.
Speaker 2 (50:19):
Okay, So Jets, I get it, Rogers with the nasty defense, Bengals,
I'm sorry, Broncos. RUSS has a resurgence. Okay, what about
the Steelers. What's the argument there?
Speaker 4 (50:30):
Why do you like them because they don't do anything
except for have have have winning records?
Speaker 1 (50:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (50:39):
Well, they had a winning record that just wasn't wasn't
good enough to get into the playoffs, you know. But
do you think that Kenny Pickett takes a decent step forward?
Speaker 14 (50:50):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (50:50):
That gets them there?
Speaker 4 (50:50):
Okay, yes, maybe, yes, I do believe that Kenny Pickett
will be much improved.
Speaker 2 (50:55):
Okay, similar to you, I've got the Jets. I do
have the Broncos, even though I don't love it. But
this is an exercise that you can't love. You gotta
find seven new playoff teams, and I owe you two more.
I've got four in the AFC. So I'm going Cleveland,
all right. Cleveland has a sneaky good roster. They've made
(51:16):
some defensive improvements Deshaun Watson. If that guy reverts back
to you know, Pro Bowl form, which is not outlandish,
even in a tough division, I could absolutely see Cleveland
sneaking their way into the playoffs and in the AFC South.
I don't know what's with all this Jacksonville love. I
love Trevor Lawrence as a quarterback. I know they have
(51:38):
a talented roster, but that was a team that was
in a Week eighteen dogfight with Joshua Dobbs as like
the third quarterback or whatever that year. He was there
for two weeks and that's a fifty to fifty ball game.
I think it's too much left for Jacksonville. I think
Tennessee is in a great spot to surprise some people.
I'm gonna go with Tennessee to make it in Jacksonvill
(52:00):
will not to.
Speaker 4 (52:01):
Wow, Jacksonville not being in the playoffs. Yes, wild, Bro,
that's wild. You have in that division. You've gone too far.
Speaker 2 (52:10):
It's the NFL man. Wild stuff happens. Yeah, you've gone mad,
LACKI stuff happens. Listen, this Jacksonville team is much improved,
much improved. Don't be don't be surprised if they end
up with one of the top in between. Well that
that they win that division or they are competing for
(52:32):
the tops or the second seed in the AFC. No,
it's too much, too much. Jack's love like what you know?
Who's improvement?
Speaker 1 (52:40):
You know what team?
Speaker 4 (52:41):
Nobody's even mentioned they're even considered mentioning.
Speaker 2 (52:45):
With what AFC? Yes, in terms of what doing better
or worse.
Speaker 4 (52:51):
Or just just as a potential non playoff team thought
of it?
Speaker 2 (52:57):
What the Chiefs?
Speaker 4 (52:58):
Yes, it's like No, No, Bro, that's that's not one.
Speaker 1 (53:03):
Of the options. That's out of all the teams.
Speaker 4 (53:08):
Out of the fourteen teams, No, sorry sir, there are
only thirteen available in this exercise because everybody can miss
the I mean, we mentioned the Eagles, you said the
forty nine ers, and we both thought the Bills could
potentially miss or the Bengals. But Kansas City. We didn't
even bring them. We didn't even utter their name like
(53:30):
they were Voldemir.
Speaker 2 (53:32):
Yeah, well, there's there are reasons why.
Speaker 1 (53:35):
Very well reasons.
Speaker 2 (53:37):
Hey man, it's the end. It would have to take
something crazy, right, but.
Speaker 1 (53:42):
Patrick Mahomes would.
Speaker 4 (53:46):
Okay, So you said that there's a scenario where Joe
Burrow could start the season and finish the season healthy
and not and they missed the playoffs. Oh yeah, there
is there a scenario where Patrick Mahomes can start the
season and finished at play every down of the season
and they missed the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (54:03):
That's hard to see because he's on just another level
than everybody else.
Speaker 1 (54:07):
Man, totally agree with you, Dare.
Speaker 2 (54:09):
Yeah, okay, NFC. By the way, I need one more
run from the Reds here. And they've got a position
player throwing like fifty mile per hour gas right now,
two outs in the top of the ninth, Joey Vado
is batting, Rojas is pitching over there, and he's just George, George.
(54:30):
I don't know what it is with the Sunday curse.
We got to get a run here, Come on, man,
it ain't.
Speaker 1 (54:35):
It ain't happen New pal it ain't.
Speaker 2 (54:38):
Okay, I need four new NFC playoff teams. Who you got?
Speaker 1 (54:42):
Okay?
Speaker 4 (54:43):
So I kicked out the Vikings, Bucks, Giants, and Seahawks.
Speaker 2 (54:47):
Yep.
Speaker 4 (54:49):
Now see, I feel like I'm getting done a disservice here,
right because I was forced to pay seven and I
only really feel like I should have picked six this year,
even though it always is seven, because there's an external
factor that can't be accounted for, which is Detroit is
(55:12):
supposed to make the playoffs this year. However they got
too many players suspended, so like that breaks up the
the normal, you know, like like course of events of
this whole thing. But anyways, we will, we will continue
the exercise just for the exercise, it's sake. So then
somebody's gotta win the division. Somebody's gotta win the division.
(55:36):
So it's either the Packers, the Lions, or the Bears.
And I'm gonna go with the Packers, So I'm going
with them. I'm gonna go with the Packers and the
Bears both making the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (55:49):
So gross, George, Okay, I need I need what two
more playoff.
Speaker 4 (55:54):
Teams the Saints because somebody's gotta win that bad division.
Speaker 2 (55:58):
I hear you there. I don't think that's at all.
Speaker 1 (56:00):
Yeah. And then the fourth team is.
Speaker 4 (56:06):
Yeah, oh god, where where do where do I find
a fourth team?
Speaker 2 (56:10):
There's one that's sitting right there.
Speaker 1 (56:12):
I just gotta go with the No, it's not Washington, No.
Speaker 2 (56:16):
It's not. I'm not saying it's that team.
Speaker 1 (56:18):
It's not the Carolina Panthers.
Speaker 2 (56:21):
It could be, but I'm not saying it is.
Speaker 1 (56:23):
Yeah, the Falcons.
Speaker 4 (56:25):
No Rams, No, actually, actually, I gotta give it to
the Rams that I don't think they're gonna be able
to run run the football. And Matthew Stafford he's gonna
throw like twenty interceptions this year.
Speaker 2 (56:40):
Uh, okay, I'm gonna go with I need three in
the NFC. Three new playoff teams Detroit Jamison Williams. He's
a good receiver, but he's out for six weeks, okay.
And he had one catch that was a touchdown catch
last season and they were knocking on the door of
the playoffs. So that doesn't throw me off. The other
(57:00):
dudes are just like bench guys, you know. It's not
it doesn't make a big difference. Jamison Williams is the
only guy. So I'm not taking the Lions out just
because of that. I agree with you. On the Saints,
you get you probably get Michael Thomas back, matched with
Chris olave Kamara, good defense, Derek car there. I can
(57:20):
absolutely see them winning that division. And it's the Rams.
You get better health luck with good Lord Stafford Cup
and Aaron Donald. I know they're very young, got a
lot of rookies, but to just sneak into the playoffs
with better health, absolutely, I can see that people are
way too low on the Rams. They want a super
(57:41):
Bowl with better health luck, you know what I mean.
So I think if they're blessed with that, they can
get there. By the way, Joey Vado came through for me, George,
I thought it was a pop up hit, a nice
little gap shot double. We got there. I know you're
worried about that.
Speaker 1 (57:57):
Yeah, yeah it was. I don't know how we made it.
Speaker 2 (58:02):
All right. We got a lot to do coming up here,
which injury is more significant that is on the way.
I'm Brian, No, he's George Reister. Keep it locked right
here on Fox Sports Radio. I'm Brian, though, he's George Reister.

The way tire buying should be. By the way, before
we get to the injury stuff here, George, what blew
my mind yesterday? The fight that you were at in Vegas?
You back in la you flew back today, Yes, sir,
there you go. Nice. It was this compliments of Showtime
talking about Aerol Spence Junior getting knocked to the canvas.
(59:30):
Check this out that George, that's the first time he's
been knocked down. Yes, that is wild to me, Aerol
Spence Junior.
Speaker 4 (59:46):
So he went from never being knocked down to knockdown
three times in one fight and beat up that's right,
Like he's one of the greatest fighters of this generation.
Speaker 2 (59:55):
Plus the stoppage obviously in the ninth there, right, So yes,
he got knocked down. What was it, George, the second
or the third, second, second round and then twice in
the seventh, then the stoppage in the ninth. This is
how the stoppage sounded on Showtimeford.
Speaker 14 (01:00:25):
History.
Speaker 2 (01:00:27):
Yep, Crawford now the first man to capture all four belts.
Speaker 4 (01:00:33):
Yeah, yes, yet the first time at wells of weight
and then the first and then the second time and
whoa the first man ever do it in two weight
division classes.
Speaker 2 (01:00:43):
By the way, you know, think about this, what's the
craziest thing you've seen live? I mean more as a spectator, George.
You could talk about being on the field also, but
I'm just thinking of you being there and seeing Terrence
Crawford do his thing. Sometimes it's just way different in
person than.
Speaker 4 (01:01:01):
When I was at John I was at the John
Jones Cyril Gangne fight this year though, too. That was
that was a good card. The craziest thing I've ever
seen live.
Speaker 1 (01:01:16):
Just actually, I've never I don't think i've.
Speaker 4 (01:01:18):
Seen any I haven't been in the building for like
some you know, twenty point come back into fourth quarter
or something something like Now, I haven't been in the
actual crowd. I've been watching a lot of them, but
never actually, you know, in attendance where you could feel
it happening and where you have that energy recall where
(01:01:38):
you're saying, wow, right, I remember when this shifted like
to where you could hear a pin drop in ther
or something like that.
Speaker 2 (01:01:47):
Sure, I mean it more so based on ability, you
know what I mean. Sometimes they say it jumps off
the screen. Sometimes it jumps off even more when you're there,
when you see either just raw athleticism or the something
where you're like, holy hell, I can't believe I'm watching
this right now?
Speaker 4 (01:02:05):
Yeah, how about you.
Speaker 2 (01:02:07):
It's gonna sound ridiculous, but one of the first things
that I thought of This is gonna sound so stupid,
but it's true. One of the things that made me
say wow. I was at a Dallas Cowboys game. They're
playing the Bears. Long time ago. Romo threw I think
five picks that game. But before the game started, Jay Cutler,
who nobody questioned his arm strength. It was just his
(01:02:30):
decision making and consistency and all that stuff, but arm
strength wise. Before the game started, George, he was throwing
it must have been forty five fifty yards on a
frozen rope. He's just warming up, and I'm like, do
you realize how hard it is to do what he's
doing while basically yawning, you know what I mean? Like
(01:02:52):
that was one of the things that just popped into
my head of being there in person and seeing something
that made me say wow. It was Jay Cutler's arm
strength warming up. It was crazy.
Speaker 4 (01:03:02):
Yes, yeah, he got that. Look at that flick at
that wrist. Yeah, it's definitely a wrist flick.
Speaker 2 (01:03:10):
Yeah yeah, Vic did that for sure. Vic with the
wrist flick, that was insane. He didn't look like he
was putting any effort into throwing it sixty seventy yards.
It's crazy.
Speaker 1 (01:03:22):
Yep. Yeah, dude, the like arm arm talent like that is.
Speaker 2 (01:03:26):
Special Yeah, yeah, no doubt about that.
Speaker 4 (01:03:30):
That doesn't just fall out the you know, like you
don't develop that. It's like maybe she's born with it.
Speaker 1 (01:03:38):
It's maybe.
Speaker 2 (01:03:41):
There's no makeup for arm strength. This is what you're
telling me, right exactly, there's no eyes shadow for that.
Speaker 1 (01:03:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:03:46):
It's either like, yes, you can do some things to
make it a little bit better, but in general, nah,
fam either you were born out of the wound with it.
Speaker 1 (01:03:57):
Like like and I'm talking about special arms.
Speaker 2 (01:04:00):
Yeah, oh yeah. Anthony Richardson with the Colts, there was
a video from a couple of days ago. He was
just flicking it sixty yards like it's nothing doing.
Speaker 4 (01:04:07):
I mean, of course his discipline and work out and
all that stuff extended it and all those sorts of things.
But you know, you can your arm either has the
ability to throw the ball seventy yards or it doesn't.
Speaker 2 (01:04:23):
Right, But the thing is, you might look like you're
throwing the javelin in the Olympics to throw at sixty yards,
you know what I mean, you gotta put everything into that.
These guys are just flicking it. It's crazy, Yep, it's insane,
it really is. All Right, we're gonna get to the
injury stuff here coming up first, though, Manzi bolangos to
(01:04:44):
spin us around this sporting landscape. What's going on? MANSI?
Speaker 9 (01:04:46):
Yeah, I'm gonna spin you around and tell.
Speaker 6 (01:04:48):
You that the Dodgers just got killed nine zero by
the Reds. Cincinnati is now in first place in the
NL Central because the bar Is lost earlier today to
the Braves eight to six. But Elie dela Cruz Ellie
de la Cruz went four for five at the plate
with a home run.
Speaker 9 (01:05:03):
He's so good. He's so good, and the way he
wants so.
Speaker 1 (01:05:08):
Much fun to watch, I know. And he's the fastest
player I've ever seen in my life.
Speaker 9 (01:05:12):
How does he move so fast?
Speaker 2 (01:05:15):
By the way, I know, what entertains you the most?
Is it the speed? The power? I'll tell you, like
laying third base and the frozen ropes he rows the bottom. Oh,
I love that the most.
Speaker 6 (01:05:27):
Actually, that's a good one. But watching him run for
me is like I can't believe what I'm seeing.
Speaker 2 (01:05:33):
Yeah, because he.
Speaker 9 (01:05:34):
Just doesn't look like he should be going that fast.
Speaker 4 (01:05:36):
He hits the ball and then standing on second base,
I know it, yes.
Speaker 9 (01:05:41):
Yes, on Friday, he it should have been a double.
But he's so fast that he got a triple ye.
Like he's just so fast and.
Speaker 6 (01:05:49):
He is smart, like you could tell that he you know,
you can't some people, just like the knowledge of the
sport comes a little naturally to you. And for him,
I just feel like he knows exactly what's going on
around him. Like he's just so smart. So fun to watch,
even though they be the Dodgers today, nine zero whatever, whatever, whatever,
but going on right now, the Red Sox and the
Giants are tied at three apiece.
Speaker 9 (01:06:08):
It's the top of the ninth inning.
Speaker 6 (01:06:09):
The Mariners are still blanking the Diamondbacks three zero. Top
of the ninth inning in Arizona, and the Padres have
retaken the lead over the Rangers. Gary Sanchez two home
runs so far in this game. They're up for to three,
top of the seventh inning. Let's sen a little Women's
World Cup recap of.
Speaker 9 (01:06:26):
What happened overnight. We were all sleeping.
Speaker 6 (01:06:29):
Norway dominated the Philippines sixth nil. They've made it to
the knockout round. Columbia two to one victory over Germany
in the like the last extra time, it was very
thrilling Switzerland, New Zealand. They had a scoreless draw. So
now Switzerland has advanced to the knockout round. Co host
New Zealand has officially been eliminated. This happened overnight. Are
you guys gonna talk about Julius Irving's top ten players
(01:06:51):
of all time?
Speaker 1 (01:06:53):
Point?
Speaker 2 (01:06:54):
What's your biggest points?
Speaker 7 (01:06:55):
There?
Speaker 2 (01:06:55):
Much?
Speaker 9 (01:06:55):
I just have it.
Speaker 4 (01:06:56):
I have it.
Speaker 6 (01:06:56):
I have the sound of him, so I didn't want
to take it away. If you're going to talk about
it for okay, here you go, fellas, give.
Speaker 9 (01:07:01):
Me your top ten all time?
Speaker 15 (01:07:04):
Oh, there's no order, really, I mean I think Weston
Robertson would be in the back court. Eljimbala would be
in the front court with Will and Bill Russell. The
next group of guys would be Kareem abdul Jawar, Michael
Jordan's Magic Johnson, probably Karl Malone. I like they even
(01:07:25):
have tiny Archibal.
Speaker 2 (01:07:27):
So no, Steph, oh no.
Speaker 15 (01:07:28):
He hadn't played long enough. He gotta finish his career.
Everybody are named it there Their.
Speaker 16 (01:07:35):
Korea is finishing true right, So no, Steph, No Lebron,
Kim Duncan, no, Larry Bird nice.
Speaker 4 (01:07:48):
When I saw this earlier, I was like, stop it,
and then He's like Noah, Steph, he hasn't played long enough.
Speaker 1 (01:07:55):
He's played fifteen years. How much longer? He's longer? He's
long enough to get a documentary?
Speaker 4 (01:08:01):
Right, Like, he's played fifteen years.
Speaker 1 (01:08:05):
He's the all time leading three point.
Speaker 4 (01:08:07):
Shooter in NBA history, playoff and regular season.
Speaker 1 (01:08:11):
What more do you want from him?
Speaker 2 (01:08:13):
To be?
Speaker 14 (01:08:14):
Like?
Speaker 4 (01:08:14):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (01:08:15):
Yeah, oh, and Lebron's career isn't long enough?
Speaker 2 (01:08:19):
Right, right, yeah, we're going on twenty one years?
Speaker 1 (01:08:22):
Right, what are we doing here?
Speaker 9 (01:08:23):
I agree?
Speaker 4 (01:08:24):
He didn't name anybody under sixty, is what he didn't know.
He didn't name anybody that didn't start playing.
Speaker 2 (01:08:31):
M J under sixty, he's like fifty something. Yeah, we're close,
he's close.
Speaker 4 (01:08:36):
Us if and the fact that he didn't put like
Larry Bird on there, that was just hat.
Speaker 9 (01:08:44):
I agree, And.
Speaker 4 (01:08:47):
He was he was like, I don't fool with none
of these hippiie hoppity youngster.
Speaker 9 (01:08:53):
Michael.
Speaker 2 (01:08:53):
He was like, oh no, oh no, his career is
not even done yet.
Speaker 9 (01:08:56):
Yeah, the answer was silly, But Michael Jordan.
Speaker 1 (01:08:58):
Is sixty played long enough?
Speaker 2 (01:09:00):
What Kobe J sixty?
Speaker 17 (01:09:02):
Now?
Speaker 9 (01:09:03):
MJ is sixty?
Speaker 2 (01:09:04):
He has turned sixty? Okay, might be right? Man one
under sixty.
Speaker 9 (01:09:08):
Okay, back to you guys.
Speaker 2 (01:09:10):
Good stuff. Manzi. Yeah, I'm Brian though he's George Reister.
You're on Fox Sports Radio. We're coming to you live
from the tire rack dot com Studios. Who was in
the original starting five that he had? He had West, Robertson,
Wilt Russell, Who did I miss? He's going so fast?
Speaker 6 (01:09:28):
Yeah, so his list is Bill Russell, Wilt Oscar Robertson,
Jerry West, Elgin, Baylor, Kareem, MJ Magic, Karl Malone, Tiny Archibald.
Speaker 2 (01:09:37):
He said they.
Speaker 9 (01:09:38):
Were in no order.
Speaker 2 (01:09:39):
That's Elgin, Elgin based Elgin.
Speaker 14 (01:09:41):
No.
Speaker 2 (01:09:41):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I.
Speaker 4 (01:09:43):
Don't care what what order he put it in. You
don't put like Lebron on that list.
Speaker 1 (01:09:49):
You are you are?
Speaker 4 (01:09:51):
You are full of the malarkey, my friends.
Speaker 2 (01:09:55):
You got him as the goat though, that's crazy.
Speaker 4 (01:09:58):
Listen, you don't even have to have him as that,
because I can make a case for Michael Jordan, and
I can make it a case for Kobe.
Speaker 2 (01:10:03):
Too as the coat.
Speaker 4 (01:10:06):
Yes, yes, yes, Kobe Bean Bryant as the goat.
Speaker 1 (01:10:09):
I can make a case for it.
Speaker 2 (01:10:10):
What is the case for Kobe as the goat?
Speaker 4 (01:10:13):
He literally did everything that Mike did, except he was
better at it.
Speaker 2 (01:10:18):
He did everything better than Mike. Yes, he was a
better shooter, that's the argument.
Speaker 1 (01:10:24):
He's a better shooter, better rebounder, better passer. I mean.
Speaker 4 (01:10:29):
What I mean, and I mean aside aside from that,
it's like looking in a mirror. So yeah, so yes,
and and don't don't give me the Michael Jordan's score
scored more points to him. People started anointing Michael Jordan
as the greatest player of all time after his second championship,
and Hill had like seventeen eighteen thousand points at the time,
(01:10:50):
So I can I can make a case for any
of those three dudes.
Speaker 2 (01:10:54):
Wow, that's wow man, it's again so much wrong with
this is the craziest thing you've said yet. Where you
go back to three of Kobe's titles, he wasn't even
the finals MVP. Who was m J shack Like, who
was the guy that was taking finals?
Speaker 1 (01:11:15):
Scotty Scotty Pippen the guy?
Speaker 2 (01:11:16):
How many finals? How many finals MVPs for Scotty?
Speaker 4 (01:11:21):
He didn't need any heed He's he saved Michael enough
times all along the way.
Speaker 2 (01:11:27):
Oh really, I don't remember the Scottie Pippen hitting the
shot over Brian Russell, or what was Scotty's biggest shot
made in any of those.
Speaker 4 (01:11:34):
Okay, single single shot or like you see see when
see when Scotty saved the day? It was when Michael
was like four for sixteen, and and it's so crazy
how people romanticize Michael Jordan's career.
Speaker 1 (01:11:50):
It's like it's six years long.
Speaker 4 (01:11:53):
And I don't want to sound like pooh pooll in
on Mike, because Mike is dope like he was. I
was running around sometimes dream that he is me. But
at the same time, like, let's not forget how many
times that Michael Jordan had zero career playoff wins against
Larry Bird in the beginning of his career, that until
(01:12:15):
Scotty came into his own, Michael wouldn't win it. And
they forget that he also played with other great players
and one of the if not the greatest coach of
all time, with Phil Jackson, that that that as great
as he was, there were games where he was absolutely
putrid and Scotty saved the day.
Speaker 2 (01:12:37):
That's how often was that? How often did that happen?
Where mj just sucked and here comes Scotty a couple
of time saves again, Scotty a couple.
Speaker 1 (01:12:47):
It's like it is just like uh Game six Clay people.
Speaker 4 (01:12:53):
People will be like, oh yeah, Clay Clay came and
saved the day for for us step so many, so
many times. It's the same way. Every great player has somebody.
I mean, Lebron had Kyrie to hit that shot that
you know in the finals, every just just like Michael
had Steve Curter hit it.
Speaker 2 (01:13:16):
Okay, Sir Bob Benson has something here, Laker fan, I'm
curious where this is going.
Speaker 10 (01:13:22):
Yeah, I'm gonna have to take Georgia's side here. Oh no,
I'm looking at the career accolades here, the career awards,
and Kobe has one thing that Michael Jordan does not have.
That's an Academy award. So I don't think. I don't
think Jordan's gonna get one of those any times.
Speaker 2 (01:13:38):
If that sways it, Okay, I got nothing on that
Kobe for Kobe on that one, it swings it in
his favor. George, Like you're looking when you say Kobe
did everything better than Jordan, how about win MVP. You know,
Jordan's got five regular season to Kobe's won. Jordan's got
six finals MVP to Kobe's two. Hold on, how about scoring?
(01:14:00):
How about scoring titles? Kobe's got two, Jordan had ten.
Speaker 1 (01:14:05):
Jordan.
Speaker 4 (01:14:06):
Jordan was also in the beginning of of his So
like all the stuff that Jordan did poorly in the
beginning of his career, Kobe did better because because Michael
Jordan refused to trust his teammates for a very long
time and that's why they weren't winning. He had to
change his entire style of style of play. Uh, Kobe
(01:14:28):
was the two.
Speaker 1 (01:14:28):
Point oh to Mike.
Speaker 2 (01:14:31):
So what was Shaq to Kobe?
Speaker 1 (01:14:34):
Shaq was very important to Kobe.
Speaker 2 (01:14:37):
Shaq was one A to Kobe's one B when they
were winning.
Speaker 1 (01:14:41):
You better watch your prove that is why you better.
Speaker 2 (01:14:45):
Final Shaq was absolutely dominated.
Speaker 4 (01:14:50):
You are you are one hundred percent right, but the
but you But you know what, You've never seen a
big man do win all by hisself. He needs somebody
to to dribble the ball and be able to when Uh,
he don't take no last second shots. He don't take
last second shots. That's that's reserved for guards, reserved for
(01:15:14):
ball handlers. So as dominant as Shaq was one he
don't win without with without a dominant guard. Oh, exactly
why he didn't win unless he had Kobe, and then
he won when he had Wade to all timers.
Speaker 2 (01:15:31):
Again, how how many times did it come down to that?
You know what I'm saying, like, you're you're using his history. No, no, no,
you're you're using something that happened what once a couple
of times. Meanwhile, you think about the lob to to
shack against the Blazers and how many huge buckets did
(01:15:53):
Shaq get. He's there's a reason why he's Finals MVP
all three of those titles. It's not because it was
a sham vote. Is because he was dominating at a
greater level. And like if Kobe hit game winners left
and right, then yeah, he would have been finals MVP.
That never happened.
Speaker 14 (01:16:11):
Okay, you you, Okay, we gotta circle back to the
injury situation over here, which one is greater?
Speaker 2 (01:16:22):
You know what, there there might be some yelling right
around the corner, but we'll make it fun. It'd be
fun yelling. I'm Brian, though he's George Reister. We're live
here from the Tireck dot Com studios on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 7 (01:16:34):
I apologize for yelling at you.
Speaker 2 (01:16:39):
I'm Brian Noo. He's George Reister here on Fox Sports Radio.
We're live from the Tireck dot Com studios. So we
got two major injuries, well big names. One major injury.
I guess You've got Joe Burrow going down with the
strained calf. You also have Jalen ram Dolphins cornerback going
(01:17:02):
down with the tornmentiscus and after surgery, Jalen Ramsey he
might be out until around December, possibly, George. So we
all know that the more significant player is Joe Burrow.
He's most people have him as the number two quarterback
in the NFL behind Mahomes, So we all know the
(01:17:24):
value he brings to the table. So that's not in question.
But in terms of the injuries being different, which is
the more significant injury? Is it Jalen Ramsey maybe being
out until December or is it Joe Burrow who might
not even miss Week one?
Speaker 4 (01:17:42):
Man? Listen, what is what kind of question is that
anytime a quarterback, especially the second best quarterback in the
whole league, misses anytime, it's more significant than a cornerback.
Speaker 2 (01:17:58):
Every single George know that he's missing any time.
Speaker 4 (01:18:02):
No, he's missing time right now, I'm saying whether he's
going to miss a game or not. Right, Yes, but
that's still significant because that means he can't because he
can't even practice right now, he.
Speaker 1 (01:18:17):
Will be out several weeks.
Speaker 4 (01:18:19):
Several do you know how long it is before there
how many weeks it is? Is it before there is
an NFL football game?
Speaker 2 (01:18:26):
Six from today? The bangala? Yeah for the bank.
Speaker 1 (01:18:30):
So he may be back for week one. Maybe he's made.
Speaker 2 (01:18:34):
Back for a week one. Huh, he's not missing any time.
He's going to be there for week one.
Speaker 1 (01:18:38):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (01:18:39):
Is a calf strain? He strained? Is calf?
Speaker 1 (01:18:43):
Kevin is Kevin Duray had a strained calf too?
Speaker 2 (01:18:46):
That's right, he did?
Speaker 1 (01:18:47):
And it how long did he miss?
Speaker 2 (01:18:49):
But Joe Burrow is not cutting to the rim.
Speaker 4 (01:18:55):
He's planting on that foot and then he might as
well be planting and going to the when when when
when big uglies are chasing him and he's got to
use all of his might and strength to push to
push off of that. That uh, that compromised calf.
Speaker 2 (01:19:12):
Now that's a legitimate point. That absolutely is. If it
is compromised, it could mushroom into our balloon into something greater.
Think about Marino uh tearing his achilles right, rupturing that?
So yeah, it could turn out. But that's the thing.
Could this lead to that? And could this I'm talking about?
What is? What is is that there is a torn
(01:19:34):
moniscus involving surgery for Jalen Ramseys out until December. That's
what we know. That's what is the case, not what
could be the case. So what is the more significant injury?
It's Jalen Ramsey.
Speaker 1 (01:19:47):
Wow, Wow, totally disagree.
Speaker 2 (01:19:53):
All right, coming up next. Everybody loves an all in
move until it backfires. Uh, you gotta love an aggressive
move right up until it greatly backfires. That is on
the way. We are broadcasting live from the tirack dot
Com studios tire rack dot com. We'll help get you
(01:20:14):
there an unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free roade, hazard protection,
and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tirack dot com the
way tire buying should be. George, we got the trade
deadline in MLB approaching. The Cardinals are open for business.
They're trading away assets left and right. They're trading away pictures.
(01:20:35):
Jordan Hicks on the move. Jordan Montgomery on the move.
Speaker 1 (01:20:37):
They go trade you soon, they.
Speaker 2 (01:20:39):
Might trade me as a fan soon as possible. Everybody
except Goldie and hopefully Arenado must go, right, Let's keep
at least someone.
Speaker 4 (01:20:50):
So you wait, wait, wait, so you do or do
not want Aeronaudo traded.
Speaker 2 (01:20:55):
I do not want him traded at all.
Speaker 1 (01:20:58):
Do you want Goldsmith?
Speaker 2 (01:21:00):
Absolutely not. That's what I'm saying is it's as if
the Cardinals are saying, everybody but these two must go.
Speaker 4 (01:21:07):
I'd be surprised if you see aeronaut A going though.
Speaker 2 (01:21:11):
There have been a lot of a lot of talks,
a lot of rumors about him maybe going to the Dodgers.
But he's saying but as of right now, someone else
who's expected to stay but George Show Hey, oh Tani.
The Angels say, well, we've won a few games in
a row. We can't trade this unicorn phenom and be
(01:21:31):
known as the organization that traded him. I think it's
a mistake. The only way that this actually works out
in the Angel's favor is if he resigns. Realistically, the
only other way would be if you somehow saw the
Angels go on this mammoth run and they won it
all which is not going to happen. The only way
this works out is if he resigns, and he's given
(01:21:53):
every indication that's not going to be the case.
Speaker 1 (01:21:56):
Yeah, but you gotta try, though, Do you try?
Speaker 2 (01:21:58):
Do you yes? If you know that your girlfriend is
most likely going to say no if you propose, do
you just have to try?
Speaker 1 (01:22:10):
No? You have to try to get better at your relationship.
Speaker 2 (01:22:14):
There you go, right, like, why.
Speaker 4 (01:22:17):
That's what and that's what the Angels are doing.
Speaker 1 (01:22:19):
They're trying to get better at their relationship.
Speaker 2 (01:22:22):
Okay, they made a couple of moves where they get
Giolito over there and they're buyers now while they're trailing
in the wild card race. I mean, really, do you
see this realistically working out for the Angels?
Speaker 1 (01:22:37):
George?
Speaker 2 (01:22:38):
I get like, you gotta try, But if you don't
see it realistically working out?
Speaker 4 (01:22:42):
They know today, I mean they know what is possible, right,
they know if there's a glimmer of hope. And if
I'm them, even if I'm like, so you're saying there's
a chance, then I'm giving that. I'm giving it that
chance because show hal Tany's don't walk through the door
(01:23:03):
every day. I outa bust trout up out of there, though.
Speaker 2 (01:23:08):
I just look at it where I get your position,
and everybody who thinks that, like, but I look at
it where you can't let that talent walk away while
you get nothing that can't happen either, And that's the
more realistic outcome of the two. So it's like, if
(01:23:33):
it comes back to that man, I understand why you would.
It would kill you to trade him, and you don't
want to be known as the organization that traded him.
But if if you have such a small chance of
him re upping with you, you can't take that chance.
I'm pro gambling, George, you know me, like we talk
(01:23:55):
weekly about. Hey, I've got here's an example. I've got
a second of a parlay Oriole's money line first five
innings against Severino and the Yankees tonight.
Speaker 1 (01:24:07):
I like it. I like.
Speaker 2 (01:24:09):
So I'm pro gambling, George. This is reckless gambling by
the Angels. Reckless damn reckless gambling.
Speaker 4 (01:24:16):
Yes, yes, no, no, no, no no, Because if you
believe that your roster is good enough to make a
run and win a World Series, you do it.
Speaker 2 (01:24:28):
How could they think that they're not even qualifying for
a wild card right now?
Speaker 1 (01:24:34):
Because they're over five hundred, they're.
Speaker 2 (01:24:40):
What by two games after losing it? What maybe all
three games?
Speaker 4 (01:24:45):
They're only four games back with you know, fifty eight
games to go, fifty five games to sorry, fifty seven
games to go, uh huh, only four games back.
Speaker 1 (01:24:58):
They not they need to do is win.
Speaker 4 (01:25:00):
You have forty out of their last fifty seven games
to guarantee they go to the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (01:25:05):
So forty and seventeen down the stretch roughly is what
we're gonna.
Speaker 4 (01:25:09):
They don't even need that. They need what's that thirty
five and twenty two?
Speaker 2 (01:25:15):
Yeah, so they are. Let's do the math on all this.
There are four games over five hundred. What'd you say
they're four back of a wild card berth? They're four back.
I mean, let's go optimistic here. Okay, not even sarcastically optimistic.
Let's let's go full blown optimism. So you get Mike
Trout back in the not too distant future. You've been
(01:25:37):
on a run. Outside of losing two to three against
the Blue Jays, they've been playing good baseball, So maybe
you hit your stride, you get into the playoffs, and
then what things just start going in your favor even
more so right, like, so, if you don't win big,
if you don't have a deep playoff run, if you
(01:26:00):
don't win a championship, your odds are worse of re
upping with Otani and you're at much greater risk of
him walking Like I dude, it's just and think about
what you could get for Otani.
Speaker 1 (01:26:14):
So you don't want to take a chance in life,
you know?
Speaker 2 (01:26:17):
No, no, no, no, no, that's not true. We'll go back
to the poker table. It is well time aggression. That's
way the way you win at the poker table. That's
way the way you win in life. George. You can't
be aggressive all the time. And I'm not shying away
from any aggressive move. It's just when the odds are
(01:26:37):
so far against you, that doesn't make any sense. If
you're at the poker table with one out and you're
all in, you're not smart. You're not gonna win big,
You're gonna lose in the long run. So it's if
the odds are in your favor, that's when you do
two hit yes or no, they do, but not consistently.
Speaker 4 (01:26:57):
No, of course, right of course, so you don't try
to hit two outers regularly.
Speaker 2 (01:27:09):
But even if this. What is this in your opinion, George?
Is this a two outer for the Angels trying to
re up with Otani? Yes, it might not be. That
might be a one outer, hey man.
Speaker 4 (01:27:19):
Sometimes sometimes you gotta close close your eyes and pray.
Speaker 2 (01:27:23):
Man, man, this is their one time moment, like where
you're at the tay one time. Come on, come, I
need the the nine one.
Speaker 1 (01:27:31):
Day, one time, one time. Give me a fade, Give
me a fade.
Speaker 2 (01:27:37):
Yeah, I just and you the other thing that I
don't know if you agree with this, George, this is
how I see it. I don't think this is a
move that's super aggressive. I think it's more of a
fearful move by the Angels. You might disagree with this,
but I think, and they've let it be known, they
don't want it to be known as the organization that
(01:27:58):
trades show. Hey, they don't want to be known as that.
So I think this is more fear based than it
is aggressive. Do you agree with that.
Speaker 1 (01:28:09):
I think that there could be a little bit of
truth to that.
Speaker 4 (01:28:12):
See, I look at the home run chase and everything
else that he's just got that if you trade him
in the middle of a home run chase, you have
where he is a legitimate shot to break the record.
Speaker 1 (01:28:24):
You are doing the wrong things.
Speaker 4 (01:28:27):
The way to be rewarded by baseball, by life for
doing the right thing.
Speaker 2 (01:28:36):
No, that's not the way it works in sports. You're
rewarded by making the smart move, that.
Speaker 1 (01:28:43):
Awarded by doing the right things.
Speaker 4 (01:28:47):
There's no wrong way to do the right thing, and
there's no right way to do the wrong thing.
Speaker 2 (01:28:52):
That's fine, but we're talking about assets. Like the way
you win games is you have talented play on your roster,
hopefully many of them, especially in an individualized sport like baseball.
So like the right move or the like the nice thing,
the good thing of keeping Otani around where there's a
(01:29:14):
home run chase and he's trying to break Aaron Judges
mark set last year. Okay, that's fine, but what does
that get you in the long run if he leaves,
Like even if he gets there he hits sixty three
this season, what does that get you?
Speaker 1 (01:29:31):
If he leaves, it gets you nothing.
Speaker 2 (01:29:36):
That's right.
Speaker 4 (01:29:37):
That's why you have to do everything possible to keep him.
Do you realize that that you can't get proper trade
value back, right?
Speaker 2 (01:29:47):
That's right.
Speaker 4 (01:29:48):
It would be different if he still had two or
three more years of team control.
Speaker 1 (01:29:54):
But that ain't what he got.
Speaker 4 (01:29:57):
He's what yeah, go ahead, yeah, they this is he's
got weeks left of team control. Weeks right, Yeah, he's
got several weeks of team control left.
Speaker 2 (01:30:09):
So will Burrow be healthy or will o Tani be
on the move faster? Right?
Speaker 16 (01:30:14):
Like?
Speaker 2 (01:30:16):
Oh control?
Speaker 4 (01:30:17):
Yeah, Oh I'm gonna go. Burrow will be healthy faster?
Speaker 2 (01:30:21):
Okay, yeah, I agree with that too. But that that's
another thing where it's.
Speaker 1 (01:30:25):
Yeah, but here's the here's the here's the question though.
Speaker 4 (01:30:28):
Will the Angel season be over faster or will the uh?
Speaker 1 (01:30:33):
Or will the yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:30:35):
Burrow back on the practice field?
Speaker 1 (01:30:38):
Yeah, no, no plane playing, caring about no practice.
Speaker 2 (01:30:42):
Practice practice, Uh. Burrow's not out for a significant amount
of time. I don't believe that at all.
Speaker 4 (01:30:49):
Say I say I I hope, I hope, or or
I am wishing upon a star that he's not.
Speaker 2 (01:31:00):
He's trade to Calf. You know, let's not make it
sound like his lower limb is gonna fall off, you
know what I mean. He's fine, He'll be fine. But
here's another thing where I can see it being looked
at both ways. You're right, George, the trade package would
be inferior for for show Heyotani, right, like show Heyotani
(01:31:20):
is a mammoth rock star, and especially when it could
only be a two month rental, whatever trade package is
gonna be inferior to Otani. Totally agree with that. But
the thing that I look at is, but the trade package,
whatever it is, would be superior to nothing. Right, That's
the way I look at it. Where and that's where
(01:31:41):
I think it's fear based. The Angels are looking at
it saying, we're not gonna get equal value for Otani.
We're gonna be known as the organization that dealt him.
We just we can't fear fear. Fear fear. That's the
best thing they can do for their organization over the
long haul. Instead, they're just hatching off a lottery ticket,
(01:32:01):
like I got a one outer here, hopefully it works out.
I don't want my.
Speaker 4 (01:32:05):
Organization is draft picks a k A lottery tickets.
Speaker 2 (01:32:10):
Well, you're gonna get prospects. It wouldn't just be draft picks.
You're not going to get Otani for just you know,
some big League two. It's gonna be something significant, even
if it is just two months. Significant for the Angels
to say now, no, just not good enough. I guarantee
you it will be worlds better than nothing.
Speaker 4 (01:32:33):
World well, any anything's better than nothing. That's exactly right.

Speaker 2 (01:32:42):

homemade tacos.
Speaker 1 (01:32:47):
With those there's nothing homemade about those. Those are raggedy tacos.
Speaker 2 (01:32:53):
They are delicious, They're tremendous. You haven't had one of
these yet, have you, George?
Speaker 1 (01:32:57):

Speaker 2 (01:32:58):

tacos were true tremendous.
Speaker 1 (01:33:03):

your body would be like more, that's it more. That's
the way it always. It's in a rectangular or where chunk. Yeah,
she chunks.
Speaker 1 (01:33:20):
Chunks cheese kurds on the taco.
Speaker 2 (01:33:22):

(01:34:47):
A significant story that's not getting a ton of attention.

By the way, George, what's a song? The random question
(01:35:08):
for you just popped in my head. Sorry, my mind
is a weird place. I just go where it takes me.
What's a song that you like that might surprise a
lot of people that you like it? It's on your list?
Speaker 4 (01:35:20):
Oh Man, I was singing this in a cabin Las
Vegas because it it came on the radio. And that's
Alanis Morris sets ironic.
Speaker 2 (01:35:35):
Really yeah, Man.
Speaker 4 (01:35:38):
Turned ninety eight, he won the lottery and died the
next day. It's a black fly in your Shardney, It's
a death bro parton two minutes too late, And isn't
it ironic?
Speaker 1 (01:35:56):
I know that I know the song work for.
Speaker 2 (01:35:58):
Work, Man, I didn't realize is that very well done
by a lot of people? Knocked that song because a
lot of it is not irony, George, like, ain't on
your wedding day. Rains on wedding days all the time.
Speaker 4 (01:36:13):
It's not ironic, No, it's saying it's it's it's ironic
that this is supposed to be a perfect day and
then it rains.
Speaker 2 (01:36:22):
But that's that's that's bad expectations.
Speaker 4 (01:36:24):
Mister play it safe was aflate to fly. He packed
his suit case and kissed the kids, Goba. He waited
his whole damn life to take that fly and as
the plane crash down.
Speaker 1 (01:36:44):
See, I told you.
Speaker 2 (01:36:45):
You do know it word for it. You ever do
karaoke to that?
Speaker 1 (01:36:48):
No? But I but I am though.
Speaker 4 (01:36:50):
I'm putting that on my karaoke list because that would
surprise the hell out of people, because I like to
do karaoke that either leans into either stereo type leans
in or I like to surprise people like like.
Speaker 1 (01:37:04):
Like damns it today?
Speaker 4 (01:37:05):
Yes, yes, yes, Jagged Jagged Little Pill was a great album.
Speaker 2 (01:37:09):
Man, okay, very nice. I do love me some man
down from Rihanna. That would be mine that you might
not expect. Don't even laugh at that. That is a
classic song. Oh my god, that is an awesome song.
Are you kidding me? You gotta know that one right?
Speaker 1 (01:37:27):
If you just don't like it.
Speaker 2 (01:37:29):
You don't like Man Down.
Speaker 1 (01:37:31):
I just it was a little bit unexpected.
Speaker 2 (01:37:35):
I will say, do you think that's not a great
song it?
Speaker 4 (01:37:45):
I mean it's it's got like a reggae field. Yes, yeah,
I guess I can I can see you liking it.
Speaker 2 (01:37:52):
Oh, it's a great song, outstanding.
Speaker 1 (01:37:55):
It's definitely not one of Rihanna's I mean.
Speaker 2 (01:38:00):
Not songs that one of like mega hits or anything
that's one of my That's like when we talk about
top movies, I wouldn't.
Speaker 4 (01:38:09):
But you basically listen to B side music anyway, So
it's fine.
Speaker 2 (01:38:14):
Metal is certainly underground, you know, D side music. It
is settled down, George. Now you're getting disrespectful.
Speaker 1 (01:38:22):
It's on the D side list.
Speaker 2 (01:38:23):
But it's like movies.
Speaker 4 (01:38:25):
You might never get invited anywhere. It never gets invited
to the big party.
Speaker 2 (01:38:28):
But you never say, hey, this movie is a top
five movie of all time, but it might be in
your personal top five. Right. It's the same thing with music.
I'm not saying man Down is one of Rihanna's top songs.
It's one of my top favorites, George.
Speaker 1 (01:38:44):
A song that's all that matters. You like it? I
love it.
Speaker 2 (01:38:48):
There it is, and that's it.
Speaker 4 (01:38:50):
That's a saying that black folks say when they're like,
you could be as wrong as you want to be,
but that's fine.
Speaker 1 (01:38:56):
You like it. I love it?
Speaker 2 (01:38:58):
There it is. Yeah, no doubt. Are we need to
implement that in the white community while we're at I
like that very good? Look can we borrow that? George?
Did you lend it to us? This thing with Damian Lillard?
I love this? So this was some memo that came
out on Friday. I know you saw this, George, Yeah,
you think there's any meat on the bone here? So
(01:39:19):
what happened? The NBA sent out a memo to all
thirty teams and they said about Damian Lillard and his
agent Aaron Goodwin, they said, listen, if you make any
more of these comments privately or publicly suggesting that Dame
is not going to perform the services called after he's
(01:39:40):
traded to a team like, he could be subject to
discipline by the NBA. My question is, well, what what
kind of discipline? What are they gonna throw at Dame
If they don't adhere to.
Speaker 1 (01:39:53):
This anything that they want to like what, There's.
Speaker 2 (01:39:58):
Got to be some serious teeth for this to actually
beat anything than hot air.
Speaker 4 (01:40:06):
See, I think that this is less directed at Dame
and more directed at James Harden. Okay, that this is
more directed at James Harden, who's done this before and
will absolutely threaten to do this Emmy. But the hardened
situation is so lame to me. No, so lame.
Speaker 2 (01:40:26):
I know it, I know it, but stay on point
with Dame. I know your feelings unhardened. But they're literally
putting out Damian Lillard's name, Aaron Goodwin, the agent's name,
And you're right, it might. It's not just a Dame thing.
It's beyond that. You could include Harden trying to orchestrate
a move to the Clippers. There are many of players,
you know, more than just these two that have tried
(01:40:49):
to get to one specific destination. So it has, to
your point, more to do with just Dame. But if
it's specifically talking about Dame, what are they gonna do?
And really ask yourself.
Speaker 4 (01:41:01):
This, oh suspension suspecsion for what? For how long I
give I give him? I give him a hot ten.
Speaker 2 (01:41:10):
Hot I'll put it this way, I would take a
hot ten games and whatever the punishment is. If that's
truly the place he wants to be. If he wants
to be in Miami, if that's the spot for him
and he identifies with heat culture and Jimmy Butler and
Bam are his guys, it's still worth it. At the
end of the day. I don't think there's a punishment
(01:41:31):
that the NBA is really realistically going to hand down
to Dame that would make him say, oh well in
that case that no, I'm taking Miami off my list.
Do you understand what I'm saying. Yeah, I don't think
there would be a punishment that severe that would cause
him to reverse course. I don't see it.
Speaker 1 (01:41:52):
Now now.
Speaker 4 (01:41:53):
I do believe that like that Dame would not actually
do it. Think that they were threatening this to try
to write as a as a leverage play.
Speaker 2 (01:42:06):
I'm totally with you. If you got traded to the sixers,
he would grind like he always does. Yep, there's no
way he's dogging it and pouting on the court. He's
not no like that, No way. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:42:18):
But at the same time, though, just the threat of
it is not okay, and you, as the league, you
have to put your foot down because you're like Harden
already did it. We didn't do a damn thing. So
now we're letting everybody know before Harden does it again, right,
but that you will be subject to you know, three
five game a three to five game suspension, because that's
(01:42:41):
that's enough to hit you in the pocket. That's worse
than getting fined two hundred and fifty thousand dollars. These
are some of these dudes.
Speaker 2 (01:42:48):
I think these are two hollow threats, Like the first
part Dame saying, yeah, I'm gonna be upset, or his
agent saying Dame's gonna be upset if he's traded anywhere
but Miami. He's still gonna go out there and ball
out no matter where he goes. That's just that's the
way he's built. So I think that is a hollow throat.
You're gonna have an unhappy player, meaning what it might
(01:43:11):
even be better he goes out with some edge some
other team traded for him, So I think it's a
hollow threat. I also think it's a hollow threat with
the NBA. All Dame and his agent have to do
is not say anything publicly or privately about No. Seriously,
he's gonna be ticked, don't trade for him. All they
have to do is not do that, and they're good.
(01:43:32):
And even if they did do that, I don't think
the NBA would do anything that's really significant. I just don't.
I think it's a bunch of talk.
Speaker 1 (01:43:41):
Nope, they absolutely will.
Speaker 2 (01:43:44):
I don't think it's gonna come to that though. I
don't think that they're going to, you know, speed through
that stop sign. You know this is the third base
coach saying stop. I don't think Dame is right and
his agent are like, yeah, we can score, we're rolling right.
Speaker 1 (01:44:00):
Oh, please do it.
Speaker 4 (01:44:01):
I want to see I want to see somebody do it.
I do not believe anybody's gonna do that.
Speaker 2 (01:44:09):
Yeah. Well, hey man, the word is already out. You know,
these teams know where Dame wants to go, and we'll
see how that unfolds. We got a couple of tweets.
We got to get to around the corner, George. We've
got Moncey Bolanos as well. We are packed to the
gills in a good way. What's going on, Manzi?
Speaker 6 (01:44:28):
Well, the Orioles are on fire. It's only the bottom
of the first inning. They're hosting the Yankees. Adam Fraser
just extended their lead with the three run homer.
Speaker 9 (01:44:36):
It is six zero. Severino, just I can cast this
parlay right now?
Speaker 2 (01:44:42):
You kidding me? Yeah, Orioles money line first five innings.
It is a done He's.
Speaker 9 (01:44:47):
A done deal.
Speaker 6 (01:44:49):
And the Yankees clearly aren't taking this game seriously because
Aaron Judge isn't.
Speaker 9 (01:44:52):
Even in the lineup. So what are we doing? What
are we doing? Just call it then, stop pretending.
Speaker 2 (01:44:58):
We're just cautious with the toe.
Speaker 9 (01:45:01):
No, he just he just came back. And also, you've
got to play him.
Speaker 6 (01:45:04):
You're trying to get into the playoffs, you're trying to
play in October.
Speaker 9 (01:45:07):
You've got to play him. I bet you. He said
I'm good.
Speaker 6 (01:45:09):
And they're like no, so no, no, no, bad decision,
Orioles all over.
Speaker 9 (01:45:13):
The Yankees SIG zero bottom of the first inning. It's
the only game left.
Speaker 6 (01:45:16):
So a little recap of what's happened today the Angels.
They held on to beat the Blue Jays three to
two and ten innings thanks to Hunter Renfro, who had
the go ahead two run homer.
Speaker 9 (01:45:25):
In the tenth inning.
Speaker 6 (01:45:26):
The Reds dominated the Dodgers nine zero. Cincinnati is now
in first place in the NL Central because the Braves
outscored the Birds eight to six. Matt Olsen homer twice
had five RBIs in the victory. Raised with an eight
to two victory over the Astros. You know, I like
that one. The Cardinals snapped the Cubs eight game winning streak,
blanking them three zero, and the Cubs announced earlier today
that Cody Bellinger is off the trade market.
Speaker 9 (01:45:48):
He is a c to be free agent.
Speaker 2 (01:45:50):
Yeah, yeah, you know what, go for it, cause that's
what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (01:45:54):
Yeah, that's what the exactly, you see what the Cubs
are doing. Yankees, that's what you should be doing. Putting
airon judge in the lineup.
Speaker 9 (01:46:00):
Exactly.
Speaker 2 (01:46:00):
They got to re up with They got a better
chance to re sign Bellinger than the Angels do with Otani.
That's the thing.
Speaker 6 (01:46:07):
Still with that, still with that one. But they gotta
try again, They gotta try. I'm with George on that one.
Speaker 9 (01:46:13):
Mets, they topped the Nationals five to two.
Speaker 6 (01:46:15):
Justin Verlander with his career win number two hundred and fifty.
He was asked about his no trade clause and his
comment was, I'm committed to try and win a championship here,
but if the organization decides that that's not the direction
that's best fit for next year, I'd be open to it.
So that was After today's game, Pirates rallied to beat
(01:46:37):
the Philly six four in ten innings. Halfway through this game,
Philly fans were really upset on Twitter or X is
now what it's called?
Speaker 9 (01:46:44):
I guess no, it's Twitter.
Speaker 6 (01:46:45):
It's so bad, yes, because their starter Christopher I can't.
Today we were talking about like tweeting, and I was like, so,
what am I exing?
Speaker 1 (01:46:54):
What am I?
Speaker 9 (01:46:55):
What am I doing?
Speaker 14 (01:46:55):
Now?
Speaker 9 (01:46:56):
A tweeting X.
Speaker 2 (01:46:57):
That's the thing with their website, they explained it. Instead
of a tweet like t W it's an x S
like x ee t. It's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
Speaker 9 (01:47:07):
So stupid, so stupid.
Speaker 6 (01:47:09):
But Phillies fans were mad in this game before it
even ended because their starter Christopher Sanchez through five no
hit innings, only had seventy three pitches and was pulled
after the fifth inning.
Speaker 9 (01:47:20):
Why?
Speaker 4 (01:47:21):
Like why? And then that is absolutely something that Dave
Roberts would do.
Speaker 6 (01:47:30):
Rude and accurate. All at the same time, the Marlins
came back from a lot to beat the Tigers eight six,
Cardians blank the White Sox five zero, Royals edge the
Twins two to one, so because of that, Cleveland is
now just half a game back of the Twins. In
the Al Central, Padres held on to beat the Rangers
five to three was the final score. Gary Sanchez homer
twice in the victory. The Mariners blank the Diamondbacks four zero,
(01:47:53):
and the Giants Red Sox game is finally over.
Speaker 9 (01:47:56):
Jock Peterson, with an RBI.
Speaker 6 (01:47:57):
Single in the eleventh inning gave the Giants a four
to three victory. In the NFL, Seahawks running backs Kenneth
Walker the third has a groin injury and.
Speaker 9 (01:48:06):
Could be out a while, and their rookie.
Speaker 6 (01:48:08):
Running back Zach Charbonnet has a shoulder injury and is
out indefinitely.
Speaker 9 (01:48:13):
He's getting checked by doctors today.
Speaker 6 (01:48:15):
Earlier today was a Vikings and pass rusher Daniel Hunter,
who agreed to terms on a one year deal that
can be worth up to twenty million with seventeen million guaranteed.
Speaker 9 (01:48:24):
And the Pittsburgh.
Speaker 6 (01:48:25):
Steelers they signed veteran free agent linebacker Kwan Alexander to
a one year deal.
Speaker 9 (01:48:29):
This was earlier today as well. What a busy day
back to you guys. The Oriole scored again seven zero
we got with the first inning.
Speaker 2 (01:48:36):
There we go with seven, Reno, gonna make it out
of the.
Speaker 9 (01:48:38):
First No, I mean, listen, this is when you take
him out. This is a good time to take him out.
Speaker 6 (01:48:44):
Now, when somebody's pitching five innings, no hits and then
only seventy three pitches and you take him out.
Speaker 2 (01:48:50):
Why, I'm scared.
Speaker 1 (01:48:53):
He was coming up with geinst the lineup for the
third time.
Speaker 9 (01:48:57):
Oh, I hate that. Hi that reasoning.
Speaker 2 (01:49:02):
By the way, I'm scared to ask this, George. But
Monci mentioned in her update a couple of words right there,
A while and indefinitely. So we had this early in
the show. How long do you think a while means, George?
Speaker 4 (01:49:16):
Uh, if if he says, if they say a player
is going to be out for a while with the injury, ooh,
that's that's several weeks okay, Well while a while in
several are yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:49:34):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (01:49:34):
And what's your your gut feeling of several or a while?
What's the time span there?
Speaker 1 (01:49:40):
Uh? Several is more than five.
Speaker 2 (01:49:42):
Weeks, more than five weeks? Yeah, and you think the
same thing about a while?
Speaker 1 (01:49:47):
Yeah? Yeah, a while?
Speaker 4 (01:49:49):
A while can be anywhere from like like that's somewhere
in between a few and several so like so.
Speaker 1 (01:49:56):
Like four around a month, around a month.
Speaker 2 (01:49:59):
But indefinitely. But what's indefinitely then.
Speaker 1 (01:50:02):
And definitely can mean anything.
Speaker 2 (01:50:05):
It can be.
Speaker 4 (01:50:06):
I mean we've seen players suspended indefinitely for two for
two days.
Speaker 1 (01:50:10):
All the way up like a year.
Speaker 2 (01:50:13):
So so indefinitely could be less than a couple.
Speaker 4 (01:50:16):
Yes, yes, you, it's literally indefinite. There is no definite.
So so let me give you the range of times.
Speaker 1 (01:50:24):
Okay, there is a couple a there. There there's a.
Speaker 4 (01:50:29):
Couple which is two, okay, anywhere in between, anywhere in
between one and one day.
Speaker 1 (01:50:38):
It's got one and one day. No more than one.
Speaker 2 (01:50:42):
No, you're screwed it up.
Speaker 1 (01:50:43):
It's at least listen, No, it's more than one.
Speaker 2 (01:50:46):
No, it's at least two. That's a couple. At least
it's the second week.
Speaker 1 (01:50:51):
No, it's the second week.
Speaker 8 (01:50:54):
So so so anything to anything.
Speaker 1 (01:50:58):
More than one week is the second week.
Speaker 2 (01:51:01):
Correct, You have to start with two. The second week.
It has to be a bear.
Speaker 1 (01:51:06):
Man, That's what I said.
Speaker 2 (01:51:08):
It has to be say a week of a day,
that's what I said.
Speaker 1 (01:51:12):
A week and a day.
Speaker 4 (01:51:13):
That that's more than one week. Yeah, I'm telling that's
not a couple. I'm telling you, yes, that is no.
So I'm telling you that that being that, if somebody
says a couple of weeks that a player will be
out a couple of weeks, to me, that means anything
more than one week to two weeks in six days,
(01:51:35):
and then a few three weeks to five weeks.
Speaker 2 (01:51:39):
Okay, seven to several yeah, five or more five plus
the same thing as a while, right, yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:51:46):
A while, a wild kind of slut slides back down
to like four weeks. It's a it's an interchangeable word
with several almost, and then you have in it indefinitely.
Indefinitely to me, typically means that you're gonna be out
more than a month, but it could mean potentially shorter.
And then there is one term that that is even
(01:52:10):
greater than indefinitely, like if like, if you say a
player is suspended or out indefinitely, then there there's only
one term that can mean more than that. If you
first hear it, uh, lay it on us for the
foreseeable future, for.
Speaker 2 (01:52:26):
The foreseeable future. Okay, hmmm.
Speaker 4 (01:52:30):
Yes, if somebody says, yeah, man, he got a hurt,
he's gonna be out for the for the foreseeable future.
Speaker 2 (01:52:37):
M m yeah, how long does that sound to you?
That sounds like a long time.
Speaker 1 (01:52:41):
That sounds like that could be permanent.
Speaker 2 (01:52:43):
Yeah, that sounds bad. Listen, you're completely on point with indefinitely,
completely on point where it literally could mean anything like suspensions.
That's a great one because it could mean a game,
as it turns out, right, ye, injuries. It typically means longer.
You like as on point as you are with indefinitely.
(01:53:04):
That's how wrong you are about a couple, because it's
too at a minimum, it has to be. This is
a great tweet. George checked in and said, tell George
to lend me a couple hundred bucks. I'll pay him
back one hundred and twelve.
Speaker 1 (01:53:21):
Hell no, you pay me what you took plus plus
the thirty.
Speaker 2 (01:53:28):
According to you, a couple is a little over one.
So he's paying you back. What your definition of a
couple hundred dollars is?
Speaker 4 (01:53:39):
Actually no, no, if he borrowed what whatever you borrow
is what you pay back plus the plus the VEG.
Speaker 2 (01:53:48):
You charge, the vig you charge an interest.
Speaker 1 (01:53:51):
Hell yeah, that's no charity. Event you borrow money. There
there there is a call.
Speaker 2 (01:54:00):
Wait, wait, what's the standard, George Reister? Vig If I said, George,
flip me five hundred bucks please, I'm good for it.
What are you charging me to do that?
Speaker 1 (01:54:11):
Five hundred bucks?
Speaker 4 (01:54:12):
Not? And I ain't gonna charge you for that, but okay,
but anything over a thousand I'm gonna need, like I'm
gonna need at least fifteen.
Speaker 2 (01:54:22):
You're a loan shark. Goodness.
Speaker 4 (01:54:24):
Oh and don't and don't get to five five five figures.
That's twenty five. That's lake breaking territory.
Speaker 1 (01:54:32):
Buddy.
Speaker 2 (01:54:34):
All right, we got a lot to do. Come it
up next. The craziest thing you've witnessed, George. And then also,
would this guy make a difference? A couple of quickies
we gotta get to, but it'll be tremendous stuff. I'm
Brian Nough, He's George Reister. Keep it locked right here
on Fox Sports Radio. Into his wind up man, he
cuts it.
Speaker 17 (01:54:54):
Loose, and this ball is smashed deep to right field,
way out of here. Four nothing reds for Elie de
la Cruz, his seventh home run. The two two strike
three called got him looking down on strikes Muncie as
he watches a fastball over the inside corner at the ease,
and that's it.
Speaker 2 (01:55:14):
Red's win it nine.
Speaker 17 (01:55:15):
To nothing over the Dodgers this afternoon at Dodgers Stadium.
Speaker 2 (01:55:20):
I'm Brian No, he's George Reister here on Fox Sports Radio.

(01:55:43):
Reds Radio Network, Ellie Da La Cruz doing damage and
do it in style. George, he had a big day
and the Reds beat the Dodgers nine nothing. It's funny
you made that comment about Dave Roberts. We'll have a
tendency to pull pitchers early. How about Michael Grove who
threw ninety six pitches today while giving up eight earned runs,
(01:56:05):
So he's getting shelled and they're like, just keep pitching,
just keep pitching.
Speaker 4 (01:56:09):
That's that's exactly the problem that frustrates Dodgers fans. And
then it would be Kershaw with a perfect game through
six and he was yeah, I gotta pull up.
Speaker 2 (01:56:19):
No, we got a yank kim. Got a yank kim.
Speaker 1 (01:56:21):
Though.
Speaker 2 (01:56:22):
How about this? We were talking about Jonathan Taylor, the
Colts running back who has requested a trade. Do you
think that he would make a difference if he were
traded to say, the Bills or a team like the Dolphins.
Do you think he could make it a difference?
Speaker 1 (01:56:37):
Absolutely?
Speaker 4 (01:56:38):
Not No, no difference. No, And it's not and it
has nothing to do. You could put Barry Sanders on
the on the Bills. That wouldn't help the Bills. It's
really it's there. It's their offense and philosophy up. And
I'm talking about pre this year because I know that
they're trying to change it. So all we can speak
about is about what's in the can already. It doesn't
(01:57:00):
matter who you put there at running back. They haven't
done a good job of scheming people to be able
to run the ball. Every time it's the running backs.
It's whoever is back there, but nobody has had success.
Good coaching and good scheming can can can have. Isaiah Pacheco, whoever,
(01:57:26):
Jeff Wilson, or whoever else has been in San Francisco's
running back stable for the past three four years, Matt
Brady and everybody else, I mean in Minnesota, whoever you
put in there, and and I know that that.
Speaker 1 (01:57:43):
Dolly was special for a while.
Speaker 4 (01:57:46):
Yeah, but I'm saying that, I mean even Alexander Madison
and whoever else has been back there.
Speaker 2 (01:57:53):
Look, man, there's something to what you're saying. For sure.
Think about the Lions. The Lions have a great offensive
blocking scheme philosophy now with Dan Campbell. I'm not sucking
up to Chris Purfett or technical producer right now with
this Lion's talk here. But you're right, the scheme matters
a lot. I would look to the bills and say,
(01:58:13):
who have they had that's really a special back? Do
you think Devin Singletary, who I don't even know where
he's at right.
Speaker 4 (01:58:19):
Now, special back to be productive? The bill backs aren't
even regularly productive.
Speaker 2 (01:58:26):
But that's what I'm saying is like Jonathan Taylor is
a really good back. Devin Singletary is with Houston. Now,
do you think he's gonna crush it?
Speaker 13 (01:58:33):
Like?
Speaker 2 (01:58:33):
Who have they had that's truly special?
Speaker 4 (01:58:36):
You know, you don't need anybody special. That's the point
is that you don't need a special running bill.
Speaker 2 (01:58:41):
Okay, how about this the Dolphins. You like their scheme.
Mike McDaniel, you know, former assistant with Kyle Shanahan of
the Niners. What if Jonathan Taylor went to the Dolphins?
Did he make a difference?
Speaker 4 (01:58:53):
Not very much more than what they got over there? Already?
Running backs are ye Dante four men in Carolina, raheem
mostered in Miami. I mean they both had more yards
than Jonathan Taylor last year. I know that he was hurt,
but I'm just saying, Tyler Algiers perfect.
Speaker 2 (01:59:12):
He's given you eighteen hundred with the Colts, and that
offensive line looked a lot worse last a long time ago.
It was two years ago. Two years by the way,
Georgia ago. What's the craziest training camp fight you participated
in or witnessed? That's a terrible question to ask you
with ten seconds to go, Yes it was? Were you
(01:59:33):
in it? Or was it somebody else?
Speaker 1 (01:59:35):
I was in it?
Speaker 14 (01:59:36):
You were in.
Speaker 2 (01:59:37):
We got to get the story next week, man, That
is a cliffic. That's a tease for a week ahead.
Beautiful
