So they've been giving him enough. So now we're not

but he's getting confidence. I don't know whether this to
take him into next year, how this thing will look

we have depth on both offense and defensive lines. Now

So so rapping about players not being good enough and
that the depth of the Cowboys, and I always listened
to coach Johnson, coach Swisson.

We get better players who can play on better better
athletes with a you know, can think above their shoulders.
You'll get less penalties. And so I talked to Dion
after his first year and they beat TCU, and I
was like, man, y'all.

Then he said yeah, but I realized these guys when
they won, mature enough for the game.

That's Dion's second passion to to to dealing with football
is fishing.

driving a big Mac truck. And because I like to drive,
so me and him and if it works, we'll be

and Nate just pile out and going to the roller

Hey, you know, trying to set up the days where
I can hang out with him two or three days.
I like to go over his house two or three days,
just one day, you know, because it takes me at
least a day to get the better on the jokes.
He gonna get me because he gonna get me with
every fat joke as soon as I walk through the door.
But after after about the day, I started catching up

with him because I was like, you're gonna say it
that yesterday? It ain't gonna yeah, So I ain't gonna
know rat jokes and calls and all of that.

He's got a big reality show coming out.

Yes he does.

So I'm like, how is he gonna have all this time?
It's just and plus I think his contract coming up.
Mm hmmm, So him and Parkson is gonna be going
at it.

Were y'all really good? Were y'all tight?
Speaker 4 (40:27):
When he played here? Did y'all become better friends. How
did y'all get to be buddy? I know we know
the story with Charles.

See when he got here, I knew of Dion and
we was at the Pro Bowl together and him and
Rod Woodson and I shouldn't be telling the story.
Speaker 6 (40:46):
They were. They was on the last leg to see
who the NFC at the a f C was gonna win.
Speaker 7 (40:52):
And I, being a guy that I was so just
so brother Woodson down, he ain't gonna be able to
handle with d Dion from Florida. I just went off
and because man, what's some cool too? But after he
kind of lost, Oh, we're gonna be cool after and
Dion beat him and I went crazy out.

And so that first started. Man Dion.

Then he was with the forty nine ers and wanted
to come to us. Jerry was enticing to him to
come to us, and uh and Mike said.

Dion wanted to see he hear you the big clown
on the team Deon Can. And so when we hooked
up and he got to the Cowboys, we just ever since.

Oh yeah, oh yeah, he can get, he can get
rough sometime. He'll never cuss, you know, but he can
say some ugly things.

Did he not cuss back when he played? Really I did?

I did to do a show for radio station, and uh,
they used to call me big popper, and you know,
I would get up and so I would just do
like little bits like yeah, man, I had deon.

I was I was cracking on because everybody know I
was cracking on for I was cracking on.

So he cussed And why did I say that?

When I got back to the studio that morning, when
I came in from the doing the radio show.
Speaker 6 (42:18):
Dion was on me, Man, do you know I don't cuss?

Why would you say that? I mean, he was serious.
First I thought he was joking. I'm serious, man, Why
would you do that?

Why when he called me Nate, I knew he was like, oh,

Why is he so passionate about not custom? Is it
a role model thing or just is not?

You know, he a Christians, so and that was one
of his things, even when he wasn't a Christian. You know,
he just never found it cool to cuss. You know,
like some people like you don't have a vocabulary. If
you got to sit up and call people mfs and
Sonoma's and you know, a's and all this, you don't
have a vocabulary and mine is limited.

Well he went, I think it was during the off season,
it was probably ninety two, ninety three maybe.

And he did a little tour with his must.

club in Monroe, Louisiana, and it was like a big deal.
It was a small club and I was just like,

I tell you it must have been the money.

Either one of y'all back at the old place, back
at Velans, of course, and you know we could turn
to speak on from in bucket of office in the
equipment room, and it go all over the whole building, right,
So periodically one of us would get a good prank
going on somebody we would let the whole building though.

So Dean was getting to better me. I said, yeah,
you sold out for the money.
Speaker 3 (44:16):
It must be the money.

He oh no, it be funny.
Speaker 3 (44:19):
You know I ain't set out for the money.

Then I just went and got that song, put it
on and ran it through the whole building. So when
he went over there to Miss Maryland and Miss Mountayne,
it must yeah, yeah, man.

We did a great job of the show over all
over and we talked as little about the game as
we possibly could, and it was a good show.
