Is this the last game for Mike McCarthy and the coaching staff? If the Cowboys do want him back, are they prepared to give him a raise? Of course, this could also be the last game for several players. For those who will become free agents, who could be the priorities to re-sign? And how about a little story time with Nate and Jesse, who share what it was like after they played their last NFL game.

Speaker 5 (02:03):
I brought gifts.

Speaker 4 (02:04):
Oh, we normally do this in the second segment, but
I stopped by the roller grill today on the way
to the show, Big Old Buck, and I brought I
brought presents. You can choose whether you want to eat
or not on the show. Chris, I know you have
company back there, so if they want any of this.
I brought taketos, a variety of taketos.

Speaker 8 (02:30):
Wow.

Speaker 5 (02:31):
I brought two glizzies, one for you, Kurt to eat
on the air with condiments. There's you one, Chris, one
for you Jesse. Can't have anything.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
There's the condiments, Jesse, big golf, Gatorade zero for when
you get done with your water fastied.

Speaker 5 (02:50):
Thank you, Nate.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
I got us cookies. You get to pick two and
then I'll take the other one. So we got salted caramel,
we got oatmeal.

Speaker 5 (02:59):
Raising and chop.

Speaker 4 (03:04):
Right then, you're either on the You're either it's like
pineapple on pizza. You're either on the oatmeal cookie train.

Speaker 5 (03:14):
Or you're completely off.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
Yeah, you're either you're either pissed off because it's a
fake chocolate chip cookie, or you.

Speaker 5 (03:21):
Love oatmeal raisins. I used to be.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
I used to hate them, and then I started eating
them over there on the training table, and I was like,
you know what.

Speaker 5 (03:27):
I might like these better than an old mill, just
they're solid looking.

Speaker 6 (03:31):
Nate he always got one of the little black boxes
with old mills.

Speaker 4 (03:34):
Well good, well, thank you seven to eleven for supporting
the show all year long and and putting up with us,
and you know, we appreciate everything you've done. They have
a pump eight over there. I checked it out just
to make sure they have nine pumps. So it's just
gets you some. I didn't get gas at any gas today,
but I did stop in and uh the one we

(03:56):
always talk about.

Speaker 5 (03:57):
So there you go. There's your roller grill.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
It's pretty uh pretty economical too, So thank you seven eleven.

Speaker 5 (04:06):
It is on the corner.

Speaker 8 (04:07):
It is on the corner.

Speaker 5 (04:08):
How's the cookie great?

Speaker 8 (04:10):
Yeah? I just hate eating in front of jess Man.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
But no, brother, well he said yesterday he was okay.
I was like, okay, well, I'll go ahead and stop, so.

Speaker 8 (04:18):
I pray for you. What's my words? Zoom? Okay? Cool.
Some dude had on my tweet, my take x or
whatever I hope is that could have got a clip
of Nate with the resume. Yes, yeah, like Jesus, what

(04:41):
happened to the twenty four hour news cycle?

Speaker 5 (04:45):
All right? Fellas Kurt Jordan Lewis got an award? He said,
what did he get?

Speaker 7 (04:50):
It's like the good guy with the awards given out
by the local medium. It means he was, you know,
willing to talk there for him, General General jenneral only
a good guy to them, and uh, someone gets it
every year it's his first time winning, I believe.

Speaker 8 (05:05):
So.

Speaker 5 (05:05):
Yeah, the writer, the local writers, writers.

Speaker 7 (05:07):
I think some of the TV and radio guys too.

Speaker 5 (05:09):
People that are in the locker room.

Speaker 7 (05:11):
Yeah, the reporters that follow the team all year and
so they always pick a player who they consider was
the most helpful. I guess throughout the season easiest to
deal with and and it was Jordan Lewis this year.

Speaker 5 (05:22):
Yeah, he deserves it.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
He he he has always been available during open locker
room like he's always in there.

Speaker 5 (05:29):
And if someone talks to him.

Speaker 4 (05:31):
Some guys don't appear in there except their day to
talk and they don't want to deal with the media.

Speaker 5 (05:37):
And they're gone.

Speaker 4 (05:37):
He's one of those guys that always just sits at
his locker and hangs out and if you want to
talk to him you can.

Speaker 5 (05:41):
So good for him.

Speaker 7 (05:42):
I saw one tweet or ex or whatever that he's
actually got some better stats and some of the Pro
bowlers that got made and that made it so he
had a good year. He was pretty solid.

Speaker 5 (05:51):
Well, how on the priority list would you guys make him?
Bringing him back?

Speaker 4 (05:55):
Because he's you know, he's he's one of the dogs
on this team. We've all we were all fans of him.
He's starting to get a little bit of national recognition.
So I'm sure he's on the radar now. It's probably
not going to be super cheap to sign him.

Speaker 5 (06:05):
But would you bring him back?

Speaker 4 (06:07):
I mean, obviously you want to, but how high on
the priority list would he be for you?

Speaker 6 (06:12):
If we're saying, Mike is out the equation, right, Yeah, yeah, yeah, Michael,
So he's out the equation.

Speaker 5 (06:18):
Who there's two of them in there?

Speaker 6 (06:20):
I would say I would say.

Speaker 7 (06:22):
Third, third, not counting Micah.

Speaker 6 (06:26):
Third, not county Micah.

Speaker 8 (06:28):
So who's the first two?

Speaker 6 (06:29):
Osa is my is my first one?

Speaker 8 (06:32):
Okay?

Speaker 6 (06:32):
And I'm thinking about and then Rico mhm.

Speaker 8 (06:37):
M And then Jordan would be your number three?

Speaker 5 (06:41):
Where would you put him?

Speaker 4 (06:41):
Kurt?

Speaker 7 (06:43):
Yeah, probably that you could could maybe say number two
on the draft. I would definitely put Osa one for sure.
And then I don't you know, do you count the kicker?
He's probably pretty high up there. But I'm guessing Jordan's
not going to break the bank, you know, and he
wants to be here, so.

Speaker 5 (07:01):
You wouldn't think. But I could see him being one
of those guys that gets.

Speaker 4 (07:08):
That gets kind of oh wow money, you know, mstrong, right,
some guys that have that you know, you didn't think
would go for a high dollar amount and somebody valued
them more than what you thought, and it's like, oh, well,
I don't know if we can compete with that. I
could see somebody sneaking in here throwing money at him.

Speaker 7 (07:25):
Get that you only got one sure cornerback starter ready
to go next year.

Speaker 6 (07:30):
Yeah, do something?

Speaker 5 (07:32):
How would you? Who would be your guys?

Speaker 8 (07:35):
I got like five guys that all rank on the
same level that they all need to sign. Do the
three guys y'all talking about, and Chauncey and uh who else?
Who else is free? I mean, I'm sorry, y'all. I
just I know we trying to get a ranking on
these players, but to sign if you miss any one

(07:58):
of these guys, it's a it's a big loss to me.
And that's just that's just how I feel about it.

Speaker 5 (08:04):
It's gonna be interesting.

Speaker 6 (08:06):
I think that the speed and watch they get these
guys signs are important because if you can get these
guys signed right away, it's definitely gonna help how you
how you attack the draft and save your money probably
and say you don't get in a bid in ward
rights other teams, Right, That's what I'm saying. Like, if
you if you drag your feet like the Cowboys have
been known to do, then that can cost you more.

(08:26):
But like and then because you there's so many holes
that you're going into in the draft, at least try
to shore some things that at least you know that,
all right, cool, I got one defensive lineman I know
I can count on the OsO I got. I got
this nickel corner. I got this guy who plays them tough.
It's a locker room god physical, you know. Or I
got a running back that I know at least can

(08:47):
give me a thousand yards and and how what I
pair it with him? When I pair it with him?
But if all these guys go away, if Osa goes away,
if ghost And goes away, if dude Lewis goes away,
I Rico goes away. I mean the knees just keep
mounting and mountains. So the speed of what you sign
these guys, I think are is extremely important.

Speaker 7 (09:06):
Surely they're not going to wait again on Michael. Are
the Lamb Lamb and Prescott just handcuffed them last year?

Speaker 6 (09:15):
I hope not.

Speaker 4 (09:16):
I mean, just get it done already, get it done
to today like Jesse that that's a great point of
view on that. How much from a player's perspective when
it when the team drags their feet.

Speaker 5 (09:34):
Players are people too right.

Speaker 4 (09:36):
They want to feel wanted, they want to feel needed,
they want to feel like you want them to be here.
And a lot of times in these situations the cowboys
do drag their feet, and you know it's kind of like, well,
my girlfriend, you know, she's not paying attention to me,
so I'm just gonna go see what else is out there,
and oh look, this one's.

Speaker 5 (09:54):
Paying attention to me.

Speaker 4 (09:54):
And the next thing, you know, it's like, you know,
you could have got them won for cheaper if you
didn't it soon too, you kind of get that mentality like, well,
if you don't want me, I may not want to
be here. And even if the money's even you didn't
really want me. So I'm gonna go over here, because
if you wanted me, you have got me right out
of the gate.

Speaker 6 (10:13):
You had. You had all year to get this stuff done.
You know at the beginning, like do you does that matter?
I think so? I think it does. But also like
so there's two things that matters. When you're talking about
a guy like Jordan Lewis and a guy who's been
here for a while has a family. The uprooting of
families like that plays that plays a figure, you know
what I'm saying. Like now the money will play a

(10:36):
figure as well. But you know, if my kids are
cool here, if you have a lady or whatever. She's
cool here, you know how bad do I want to
be uprooted? But then it comes to the player's point
now is do you want me or you don't. And
the longer you drive your feet the the the more
open you allow for someone else to come in and

(10:56):
sweep me off my feet to tell me I'm pretty right,
to tell me that they like the way that I
do things. And now they offer just as much money
if that team is a contending team as that team.
But you know, those things play a factor, That's what
I'm saying, Do it quickly so that also you now
you have guys who are now around your building and something,

(11:17):
the guys who can kind of start the process of hey,
let's get guys together, let's do things, let's let's let's
let's not drag our feet and wait, yo, i'm paid,
you paid. Let's let's start getting these guys around. Let's
start kind of trying to build that foundation and that
culture for our team now that I know that I'm here.
But if you drag your feet and it's up and limbo,

(11:38):
guys are gonna go off and do their own thing
and not being around the building and not be here
and not try to pull some of these other young
guys around because they're just like, I don't know I'm
gonna be here not, so I don't need to pull
my resource to the other kids who I might not
be here with. And that's what you don't want. You
want a guy like Jordan Lewis to be in the
ear of a Kaitlin Carson right and see if he
can't figure out ways to get him back on the

(11:59):
right path. But you wait around Jorde Louis is gonna
be off vacationing with his family and doing other stuff
and not really trying to focus on that. So I
think that part is really really important on building your
team now and just those that you want just let
them know that you want them, to make it, make
it official.

Speaker 4 (12:17):
Nay, it'll be six days before we are all back
together in this room talking about the Cowboys. Do you
think a decision will be made on the coaching staff
by then? I don't think they will still be speculating
and wondering what the hell is going on.

Speaker 8 (12:36):
I think we'll be speculating, but I think they already know.
I think Missus Jones them know.

Speaker 6 (12:41):
Yeah, according to him today in the bar.

Speaker 8 (12:44):
Yeah, I think they already what he said, you know,
what does that mean? The thing about us.

Speaker 6 (12:50):
Thought process has already done in the bar.

Speaker 8 (12:53):
The thing about being a cowboy affiliate, being close to it,
however you want to look at it, is we're looking
for that drama too. They're always looking for that drama.
So whatever can bring the most hype to the Dallas Cowboys,
that's how it will be presented. Jones.

Speaker 4 (13:14):
I wonder how much thought prob I wonder if that's
just Jerry's style or how much of things like that
he thinks through and goes, Okay, we're gonna do this.
How can I get the maximum eyeballs on this? What's
the timing? How do I do it? Or if it
just because it's the Cowboys and it's you know, it's

(13:35):
always gonna make new I wonder how much of that
is like strategic, you know, because like you like Jess,
you said, he the Hay's in the barn, right, he's
made the decision.

Speaker 5 (13:46):
Okay, what what are.

Speaker 8 (13:48):
We waiting for?

Speaker 4 (13:49):
We waiting till Sunday so they get rid of everybody
on Monday, or we wait until Sunday and then we're
gonna draw out, you know, saying we're bringing McCarthy back,
and then how long do you draw all that out?

Speaker 5 (14:00):
And what's the time? Is it Super Bowl weekend?

Speaker 6 (14:02):
The next thing is that, you know, if we're talking
about what things were, let's let's.

Speaker 5 (14:07):
Talk about that.

Speaker 4 (14:08):
Let's talk about that all right, Let's take a break,
take a break, Let's take a break, Let's eat these glizzies,

Kurt Y see you already gobble down that grizzy stop
by the roller grill today, got some cookies, destroyed the.

Speaker 8 (17:02):
He's like, ask me a question while he was like
a four.

Speaker 6 (17:06):
Year old.

Speaker 4 (17:08):
Four year old Christmas morning, just ripped it to him
and they were gone, Hey, you know what I live
if I if I can get one or two of
these a day from my man.

Speaker 5 (17:21):
With the head dropping the shape. You brought joy to
his day, did you. He's struggling to get to the show,
and you did that. He was just smiling and.

Speaker 6 (17:31):
Because Nate was like, I'm eating the cookies, and Nate
he eats the cookies and doesn't I think he really?
I don't know if you even realize it or not,
but like you're smacking.

Speaker 5 (17:41):
Yeah, I'm just like.

Speaker 8 (17:46):
It's one day.

Speaker 5 (17:47):
We get away with a lot of the show. But
one thing Derek can't stand is.

Speaker 4 (17:51):
When we eat on this show, especially when we all
eat on the show.

Speaker 5 (17:55):
But sometimes we have to for.

Speaker 8 (17:58):
It's all with our sponsors. You know, yeah either your
boss sponsors.

Speaker 6 (18:04):
Still. Yeah, how good the cafe food?

Speaker 5 (18:07):
Yes, we'll stop by the roller grill, they got good stuff.
Fill up at pump eight.

Speaker 6 (18:11):
All have sponsors about to change, no more.

Speaker 5 (18:14):
No more on this show.

Speaker 8 (18:16):
You're welcome.

Speaker 6 (18:17):
Wow, cookie is good. I know this tokeno is good.
I think it's called that. I don't.

Speaker 5 (18:24):
Yeah, you got four of them back there. There's a variety.
Tell me which one you like the best? Try them all?

Speaker 4 (18:29):
So so yeah, we fed the crew today in the
in the sub crews.

Speaker 5 (18:35):
So stop by Pump eight. They have eighty nine cent
big gulps at participating stores.

Speaker 4 (18:41):
I was going to bring big goalts, but I didn't
have the band big golfs.

Speaker 10 (18:44):
Huh.

Speaker 5 (18:45):
You toed all that down here. So thank you seven
eleven for being a sponsor all year. We really appreciate it.

Speaker 8 (18:50):
So you know what's so amazing now I mean, Jesse,
you you're not in this, but you brought all that
stuff from a man he quickly.

Speaker 10 (19:01):
I already had lunch.

Speaker 6 (19:02):
I would look good, though I'm gonna have to did
look good.

Speaker 5 (19:08):
There you go stop on the way from work. All right, Jess,
you were about to make a point.

Speaker 4 (19:11):
We were talking about free agency signings, coaching staff all.

Speaker 6 (19:16):
And with the coaching staff, because it's not just Michael
from Pittsburgh, it's all of the coaches, like all of them,
their contracts end when his ends. So if you're gonna
drag your feet with that, then you're missing opportunities to

(19:37):
interview get the best out there right right, like I
don't know if I can say, but like Rabrael, like
he was interviewing today in New York, if that's one
of the guys that you want, you might wanta you
might want to make this thing, you know, more rapid
in what you're what you're if you're gonna if you're
gonna change, if you're going to change, then you need

(19:58):
to go ahead and make this as soon. You're already
late because if you if you're saying that, hate was
already in the barn, and the thought process was kind
of pretty much made up when you came to a
final decision, you.

Speaker 5 (20:09):
Should have just done it right. Does that tell you?
How do you feel about do you think? Do you
think McCarthy's coming back?

Speaker 6 (20:16):
I don't. I don't because if if you didn't get
an extension with twelve and five, and you didn't get
an extension at no point in time this year, I
don't know what more you like, I don't know what
more you could have done in this year that would
have made them want to right to bring you back.

Speaker 8 (20:35):
That's a good point, that's good knowledge.

Speaker 5 (20:37):
Yeah, yeah, how do you feel about it?

Speaker 2 (20:38):
Kurt?

Speaker 5 (20:39):
You think he's coming back?

Speaker 8 (20:40):
No?

Speaker 6 (20:40):
I mean the same time.

Speaker 7 (20:41):
I mean all season long, we've been hearing Jerry and
Steven saying, ah, we like what he's doing. He's doing
a great job. Ye, but it's always but yeah, yeah,
there's no contract movement.

Speaker 5 (20:50):
So yeah, what do you think, Nate?

Speaker 8 (20:52):
I want him back? I want him back. But you know,
that's good stuff. But the thing about I've always knew
about when it's interviewing coaches that are free from teams,
that they fly off they meet somewhere, you know, you
know that they fly to the hey man, meet me
and o Bahamas, get your agent, you know. So they
do they if they want a coach and they really interested,

(21:14):
they sneak off.

Speaker 10 (21:15):
You know.

Speaker 8 (21:15):
I'm talking about the ones that are not connected. And
so I like coach McCarthy. I want him back. I
want him back. I want him back.

Speaker 5 (21:25):
But he sounds like Michael that.

Speaker 6 (21:28):
I want him back.

Speaker 8 (21:28):
Yeah. But the thing is, uh, it's some things that
Mike didn't do that the mass is liked and and
and I would like to believe that mister Jones don't
don't listen to the masses, and I mean masses for
us other people in other organizations, you know what I'm saying.

(21:49):
Other you know, looking over in other people's program what
you always supposed to do because you want to see
what they're doing to be successful, you know, now you
un necessary got to call they people, you know. But
I think Missus Jones does that sometimes some of his owner.

Speaker 6 (22:04):
Brother.

Speaker 8 (22:04):
Hey man, I like, I like you, dude, you know,
you know, share that with me, you know, And and
he get to thinking, you know, Missus Jones to get
the thinking man, that could be a big move. Oh Mike,
you're gonna later, bro. Yeah, And I don't know you
nothing you did a great job. You know what you did,
and now you're getting all these great speeches.

Speaker 6 (22:24):
And that's another thing. It's like he didn't have to
fire right like he expires, it just goes away. We're
done our business here. You provided a service, I provided
a payment.

Speaker 8 (22:37):
Yeah it's done. Yes, and now you can.

Speaker 6 (22:42):
But yeah, like this, this can't be an off season
of dragging a feat. It just can't on any level.
If that's gonna be your coaches, then then if if
you know, if Mike Zimmer is gonna be your DC.
Now I don't know how he the way that he
was talking to his it's a question of whether he
even wants to coach period anymore. If these are gonna

(23:05):
be your guys, then then let it be known immediately.
Let's move forward. If these are gonna be your dudes,
and let's not drag our feet with anything that lot.

Speaker 4 (23:14):
You know, that's a good that's a great point. Like
you've always done that, and look where it's got. If
you you talk about changing the culture and you know,
act with purpose this year, you have too many holes
to feel. You got too many uncertainties, you've got too
many needs in the draft, you got too many. You know,
your big dogs up for renewal. You've got the coach,

(23:35):
and like, I think that's a great point. Like change
the culture, start at the top and like go get
the guys you want, sign them, take care of them.

Speaker 5 (23:44):
Let everybody know, Hey, we're doing stuff different.

Speaker 6 (23:46):
Yeah, let people know we are open for business. Yeah,
and change the narrative of what people feel and say
about you. And don't sell the hopium, don't sell the
all in. Go show it.

Speaker 5 (23:59):
Yeah, go show the fans, show the fans, so the players.

Speaker 6 (24:02):
So that way things are kind of buttoned up, and
now I know exactly what I look forward to going
to this offseason. We're not still trying to piece this
thing together because we shouldn't get honestly, we shouldn't get
to ot a's. And now guys that are not those
guys that we're talking about ain't got contracts yet, you
know what I mean. And now they're talking about holding out.

Speaker 8 (24:22):
So when is that signing date? Do we all know
when that signing data? They can sign it any time
for who for the guys that free agents, they can
sign it anytime.

Speaker 6 (24:31):
You can sign them. Any of there ours ours, we
can sign them. We could sign them yesterday, sign them
the date SI on this weekend whenever we want, because
they belong to us.

Speaker 5 (24:38):
When can other teams pick them up? Is that as
soon as the last game's over?

Speaker 8 (24:42):
When you know that?

Speaker 6 (24:44):
When is that mar The NFL league opens up again?

Speaker 7 (24:47):
March twelfth, that's the new uh, when the NFL year.

Speaker 4 (24:51):
So you have until March twelfth to get a deal
done before.

Speaker 5 (24:54):
Other people can.

Speaker 8 (24:55):
That's what question was.

Speaker 5 (24:56):
Take your guys or tamper or whatever a couple.

Speaker 6 (24:59):
Of days before that for tem temperary.

Speaker 8 (25:01):
Yeah, but that's what I was trying to figure out.

Speaker 6 (25:03):
Don't wait, don't wait, go.

Speaker 5 (25:05):
Get on it.

Speaker 6 (25:05):
So that way, you know, and then now you can
start your your tempering, you know what I mean. You
know you can start your temper with those other guys
and saying, hey, look we this this is what we
brought back. This is this is not a rebuild, This
is not a So those guys who are looking around
and saying I want to go to a contender, I
want to be a part of contender, you can say, hey, man,
we signed up. We signed up, Micah, we signed up.
Oh so we signed up here boom, we're going come

(25:26):
join us.

Speaker 5 (25:27):
But if we need you to fit here, right, this
is where.

Speaker 6 (25:30):
You're the missing piece for what we need. But guys
looking around, you're like, well, you ain't signed Mikey yet.
You still ain't sign so yet. No, I don't know
how serious you guys are about winning. And this is
my this is my moment. I need to go and
cash out and go get somewherehere I can play and content.
So I just don't. I just don't think this should
be a year of just dragging your feet. Man, Like,
this can't be a year dragging your feet.

Speaker 7 (25:51):
What if the dragging the feet and I'm sorry, I'm
going back to McCarthy, but what if the dragon the
feet is like, he's one of the lowest paid coaches
in the league, and he's had a good run, you know, twelve, three,
twelve and five seasons. I think over that spanning as
one of the highest records. What if he's like, you know,
I gotta get paid like the big boys up there.
Could that be like Jones once in back, But but

(26:13):
that don't.

Speaker 6 (26:14):
I'm sure that conversation had to have it happened in September,
right off season. Hey, I'm coming to my final year.
You can't no, way you're gonna be able to pay
me what you paid me before that that just that's
just inflation says that. You know what I'm saying, Like,
anytime a contract is up, I need I need to
now be paid somewhat similar to where the market is going,
right if we've if prices are going up, then help

(26:36):
me meet the cost of living, you know what I'm saying.
And and for Mike, yeah, like you gotta go in
there and say, well, yeah, you can't pay me the
same five you paid me last the last five years.
I need seven now.

Speaker 5 (26:50):
Chris, what do you? What do you what your You
always have interesting point of views. What's your what you're.

Speaker 4 (26:56):
Feeling on the on the coaching staff. You think McCary
you'll be back, or you think they'll go in a
different direction.

Speaker 11 (27:04):
I'm kind of on the fence. I think that if
he comes back, I believe that there needs to be
some change underneath him with the rest of the staff.
I think, I mean, I think that's ever every year.
I mean you look every year year. The staff is
always changing, you know. So but if if it's like

(27:26):
we're not, I don't think we're going to come back
with the same.

Speaker 5 (27:29):
Everybody's the same. I don't think that's gonna happen. I agree.

Speaker 4 (27:33):
How many how many? How many coaches do you think
will be in Washington next year that are on the staff?

Speaker 5 (27:41):
I bet there's I bet there's a few.

Speaker 11 (27:43):
I mean, if you if you go and close your
eye and say, who are the best coaches on this staff?

Speaker 5 (27:47):
I think those guys stay m okay, whether McCarthy or not.

Speaker 11 (27:53):
I think I think, yeah, I think that's that's just
my opinion.

Speaker 5 (28:00):
Alright, Gonna take our last break when we come back.
Could be a lot of these guys last game ever
this weekend.

Speaker 4 (28:08):
I want to know if Kurt, if you remember your
last game ever, maybe a couple of these other guys
that played in some last games ever, if they knew
that that was their last game when it happened, and
what that was like. When we come back for the
last segment of the last Daily Show, I'm gonna get cinema.

Speaker 11 (31:10):
I thought someone was supposed to be out today, That's
why we're taking calls.

Speaker 6 (31:13):
Wasn't something supposed to be out?

Speaker 8 (31:14):
I don't think so.

Speaker 4 (31:15):
I think we were just letting everybody say goodbye because
we didn't really want to talk about the game this week,
because it doesn't really mean a lot to us now.
It will mean something to a lot of players because
this may be their last game. Some of them probably
know this will be their last game, and some probably
don't know this will be their last game, not only
in a Cowboys uniform, but ever in the NFL. Did you, guys,

(31:40):
your last games that you played in. Did you know
it was going to be your last game? Or did
you not know it was going to be your last game?

Speaker 8 (31:49):
I knew it would be my last game, Carolina Panthers.

Speaker 6 (31:52):
You did know?

Speaker 4 (31:53):
What was your What was it like playing knowing like
this is the last time I'm going to do what I.

Speaker 8 (31:58):
Love sitting on the bench watch not playing no more?
Did it?

Speaker 4 (32:04):
I mean did it, did it kind of get did
you get in your feels a little bit?

Speaker 5 (32:08):
Or were you like, man, it's time, it is time.

Speaker 8 (32:10):
Br See. I had so much fun and I played
so hard and so good for so long. So when
it was when it was over, I knew it.

Speaker 5 (32:20):
No regrets, no, I tell you, I'll tell you.

Speaker 8 (32:22):
All I wanted was a check.

Speaker 5 (32:24):
I'll tell you what.

Speaker 4 (32:25):
There's probably very few, well maybe not very few, but
there's a lot of athletes that don't squeeze.

Speaker 5 (32:34):
All the juice out of the grape.

Speaker 4 (32:37):
That nineties Cowboys team I'm pretty sure got nine of
those guys. On a professional level, on a personal level,
on an entertainment level, on.

Speaker 5 (32:49):
A every level.

Speaker 13 (32:52):
There is you know, especially in Atlanta what we've heard,
but at there's you know, no regrets, like what a
time to be on what what a what a life?

Speaker 5 (33:07):
What a career?

Speaker 8 (33:08):
You know that we got drunk them and we the
bills drunk them and we.

Speaker 6 (33:15):
Did you guys hang out together?

Speaker 8 (33:17):
Oh yeah, hey, you go, uh that's a great player
name Bruce Smith. But here you take a nun hey
on me, Bruce.

Speaker 5 (33:29):
Because y'all knew couldn't nobody out party.

Speaker 4 (33:31):
Y'all because y'all y'all were used to that, right, So
it was like, if they party on our level, they're done.

Speaker 8 (33:38):
They've done. You got them in the second half. Coach,
just keep playing that, Sam, Just did you know the
last time that you.

Speaker 5 (33:50):
Played that it was going to be your last game.

Speaker 6 (33:53):
I was in New England. I was dying for him
to come knock on my door and come get me. Really, yeah,
I was done. I couldn't quit. I couldn't quit. That
just wasn't in me. But I this is I went
through four training camp roommates, four wow, and every time

(34:16):
they came out, You're like, please, please be me.

Speaker 5 (34:19):
I just knew you just over it.

Speaker 6 (34:20):
I was over it. I knew it wasn't fun to
me anymore? Was it was it?

Speaker 4 (34:24):
Because of the like the kind of the journeyman career
you'd had on Special Teams.

Speaker 6 (34:28):
I was ready for the next like I knew, like
I knew for me, this was it, Like it was
either going to be You're going to be a Special
Teams guy all your life, which is not a bad
thing to be. I just I was what was fun
to me and no longer became fun. Like I used
to enjoy conditioning I used to enjoy watching film. I
enjoyed the preparation, I enjoyed the competition. And when that

(34:50):
became a burden, this is it, I was like, I
don't want to I can't. I can't do this anymore.
And I don't know if it was New England that
took the life out of me, but it just it
no longer became what I enjoyed to do.

Speaker 8 (35:05):
It was work.

Speaker 6 (35:05):
It was it was work, and it was like straining work,
you know what I mean, like to like I used
to really enjoy, like even now, like when the season
is good, I enjoyed getting the chance to go and
watch film and like that part I've always enjoyed. I've
always enjoyed that. I've always enjoyed like I always wanted
to be the most conditioned person on the field. I
wanted to be able to run and make you get

(35:27):
tired and not me. And when now all that stuff
became like I guess I'll get up and do it,
I was like, this is this is it and they
just they'll come knocking.

Speaker 8 (35:38):
I'll be like, Holly, you know, I come home and
the season getting ready to start by the month or two.
They know when you're ready, Jim, what do you what
do you talk about?

Speaker 6 (35:56):
Bruh?

Speaker 8 (35:57):
You ready finish on a few teams. I'm you know,
telling you out there. You know we know you a't
gonna be in the first wave. We probably can get
you to a couple of injuries, says Jim. Come on,
come on you for real, I said, Man, I ain't
bro I don't care. Tell you what, Jim, if they call,
tell him thank you, but no thinking. But I ain't
doing this no more. Well, I just want to check

(36:18):
with your big new shave, I said, Bro, I ain't
never been in shape.

Speaker 4 (36:23):
What was the first thing you guys did that you
hadn't been able to do after you retired?

Speaker 5 (36:29):
You were like, you know what, I haven't.

Speaker 4 (36:31):
Whether it was a vacation, whether it was just eat
bad food, whether it.

Speaker 6 (36:35):
Was I spent the holidays with my family. Oh I
did Thanksgiving, I went home, I went back to Jersey.

Speaker 5 (36:41):
Always playing.

Speaker 6 (36:42):
I was always playing. I was always playing, whether it
was college, whether it was the pros, high school games
on Thanksgiving, high school on Thanksgiving, I played school. So
I went That was the first time that I went
out to How old were.

Speaker 5 (36:54):
You whenever you retired?

Speaker 4 (36:58):
Twenty so twenty eight, twenty nine years old. You first
time you get to spend holidays with your family, that's crazy?

Speaker 6 (37:07):
Yeah wow yeah, So yeah, I went back. I spent
Thanksgiving Christmas like I got a chance, like I haven't had.
I hadn't done that in such a long time. So
I went went and spent the holidays with the family.

Speaker 8 (37:20):
About you date did the same thing. Hopped in my
cand with the traveling just well by Land.

Speaker 5 (37:25):
That's where that's where it started.

Speaker 8 (37:26):
That's where it going.

Speaker 6 (37:28):
Actually, funny, funny thing. I actually I actually went. After
I did the holidays, I went back and finished the
Mexico vacation that I was on when but New England
called me, I was going. I had just landed in Cancun,
and so I had I went back and finished that vacation.
When I got done as well, she was still there. Hey, Poppy,

(37:53):
they don't call me something poppy for nothing.

Speaker 4 (37:57):
You know what would be fun for us for you
is that, since you like to travel so much, we
should bring a map in here next week and just
put it up.

Speaker 5 (38:05):
And we all throw a dart at it.

Speaker 4 (38:08):
See what, And then Nate in his car and just
drives to all three locations we need.

Speaker 6 (38:14):
We if we could get Nate and just Nick, because
you've made it very clear none of us are going
with so when not asking.

Speaker 5 (38:22):
Unless the Cowboys win the Super Bowl, then we go
on the road trip.

Speaker 6 (38:24):
But like, definitely, we got to get a sponsor that
gives Nate like a vehicle that we can just send
Nate on road trips. Oh, we could do.

Speaker 5 (38:33):
We could make that happen.

Speaker 4 (38:34):
Ford Forward, give me one of them big f three
fifties and just go clean the.

Speaker 5 (38:40):
Back out, put him a bed back there and just
let him.

Speaker 8 (38:43):
Let him roll.

Speaker 5 (38:44):
He can call in for a month. Hey, here's where
I'm at today.

Speaker 6 (38:48):
We'll just do different spots.

Speaker 5 (38:49):
Yeah, that'd be awesome. What's the furthest you've ever driven
north or south? Like, how far of you if you're
on the camp.

Speaker 8 (38:56):
I went up to Michigan. Yeah, I've drove the candle,
but it was Canady. Was a vacation with my son
and my wife. So I've been up in Canada with
the basketball team.

Speaker 5 (39:07):
What's the name of Toronto?

Speaker 8 (39:08):
Yeahs I went, yeah, uh, calp Tijuana, Mexico. I think
as further as I.

Speaker 4 (39:18):
Went south of Saint Yeah, but I've never been northwest Yeah,
I got that one.

Speaker 8 (39:25):
Yeah, I gotta get pictures, pictures of Washington.

Speaker 5 (39:27):
Oh, what's the what's the furthest you've traveled?

Speaker 4 (39:30):
Kurt?

Speaker 6 (39:31):
By car?

Speaker 4 (39:33):
Just?

Speaker 6 (39:33):
I mean I've been to London a car. No, but
I didn't know that.

Speaker 5 (39:37):
Was by car driven.

Speaker 7 (39:40):
Uh, probably like up to Wyoming the you know rocks.

Speaker 4 (39:44):
That's a nice Oh, that's all right, it's beautiful up there.
What's the most beautiful place you've been?

Speaker 8 (39:50):
Like Montana where you go up into Butte, you go
up into beauty, you go go in through warming, you
drop down into this to this ravine. You just go
miles and miles and you come out into a bunch
of flat thousands thousands of acres. Man, and then you're
talking about something beauty, like.

Speaker 5 (40:06):
Straight out of Yellowstone.

Speaker 8 (40:07):
I'm like, yeah, man, And I looked around and I
realized that me and my wife is the only.

Speaker 5 (40:12):
Black a while.

Speaker 8 (40:19):
I went to see he say, glad to have.

Speaker 5 (40:26):
What's the furtherest you've driven? Jess?

Speaker 8 (40:28):
Mm hmm. You driven in Jerseys, Texas, hurt Worth County.

Speaker 6 (40:34):
Footworks, like you dropped forever shoot, probably North Carolina to
Fort Lauderdale.

Speaker 5 (40:45):
Was that about twelve hours of spring break? Action ten hours.

Speaker 6 (40:49):
A random trip me and my best friend just like
I literally flew in North Carolina. He get in the car,
He's like, man, let's go to Florida. Like you seriously,
He like, why not? Let's go. And I'm like, let's go.
Like literally, I land, We go right to the rental
car place and get a rental car and just drive

(41:10):
too far, drove the laughter. That's a long random It's
so it was like so random. It was so random,
and we had a ball. We stopped in Atlanta. We like,
we stopped and well, we have friends in Atlanta. President
that's a good place to have friends.

Speaker 8 (41:29):
You know, when you just drive. I've been close to Yellowstone,
never been in the Yellowstone, you know, I've been past
monuments and stuff. I just be like just driving. It
just it's just you know, now back in the day

(41:50):
where you could drink and drive. Oh my god, I
come out of that trance and I.

Speaker 5 (41:58):
There's nothing how far but drink.

Speaker 6 (42:05):
We don't want to prove one that.

Speaker 8 (42:06):
I'm just saying back in the day because it was
what it was. Me Oh hell, you know, life is
much safer now. You see less incidents because of that.
That was That's One of the positive things they did
in this world is take away that drinking and drive.

Speaker 9 (42:23):
Man.

Speaker 8 (42:24):
They even though I never had an accident while drinking,
thank god. Yeah, but I've seen some that has been drinking. Boy,
you'd be like, wow.

Speaker 4 (42:37):
There's there's not much better therapy than going on like
a twelve fifteen hour car ride by yourself.

Speaker 5 (42:46):
If you're going through it, what's your longest thing?

Speaker 4 (42:49):
Probably Jacksonville, Florida, from from Monroe. I think it was
fourteen hours. But I was in a seventeen foot seventeen
or twenty one foot you haul van pulling a fourteen
foot trailer with a jeep with a three inch lift
kid on it.

Speaker 8 (43:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (43:07):
I had some had some beef behind me, and I
was by driving. I was helping a buddy in my move.

Speaker 5 (43:12):
We split up.

Speaker 4 (43:13):
We stopped at Mobile and then we went to Jacksonville
and it was I was a nervous wreck. Had a
had an AM radio in it, like, I didn't have
no CDL or nothing. I'm just driving the wind, get
the blow in that trailer.

Speaker 5 (43:28):
Kick a little bit. It's dicey sometimes, but I do
want to do like.

Speaker 6 (43:33):
A like from like DC to California, like a road
trip like in the R and V couple buddies. I
always want to do that and just pick places just like.
We got no timetable, you know, take a week if
you want to take it, take a week, and we
just and we just drive across.

Speaker 8 (43:47):
I got one of my buddies. I said, man, come on,
Uh he needed to go to Wyoming Red Pass. Butte
he said, Man, come on, but we had I say, now,
I told him, I see he's older, gentleman. I say, sir,
we're gonna be in Texas all.

Speaker 5 (44:11):
You didn't believe it.

Speaker 8 (44:13):
So we love about twelve o'clock, around about ten thirty
that night.

Speaker 5 (44:19):
Man, he's just the customer.

Speaker 8 (44:21):
And you have told me we have been in Texas.
I say, man, I told you you're gonna be in
You don't realize how big Texas is now you drive
drive across it. And he drove from Tennessee to Texas.
Got a good night's sleep. We took off that month,
and I'm telling them, sir, we're gonna be in Texas
all day, you know. And then when we got to Wyoming,

(44:41):
and that's another just and it ain't it ain't nothing
out there. It ain't just ravines. And mountains. But you
can see that, you can see the change in the
environment and the scenery just so beautiful. And I told him,
I said, just enjoyed it. Man. You look at one
hell you see you want to go up.

Speaker 5 (44:59):
At least there's here those mountains.

Speaker 4 (45:01):
Like when you're in West Texas, you're talking about the
most boring drive and you better hope to win.

Speaker 8 (45:07):
Do not pick up caw what you own. It's gonna
move you man.

Speaker 4 (45:13):
All right, fellas, I don't even know if this matters,
but we'll do it anyway.

Speaker 5 (45:16):
What is your prediction for the game, Kurt.

Speaker 7 (45:21):
I'm gonna take Washington. They got more to play for,
say like twenty seven twenty four, twenty.

Speaker 8 (45:30):
Seven twenty four, Nate, they still got to worry about
whether they want to hurt up their quarterback. He did
a lot of running last week, so you know, so
he want to We want to see what he gonna do.
And I want to get my quarterbay beat up. I mean,
the two people you're gonna play, what is Philadelphia he
fighting for a position versus Philadelphia who rams rams defense

(45:53):
ain't no joke either, so they can get after you.

Speaker 5 (45:56):
So playing for a half and get him out of here.

Speaker 8 (45:59):
Yeah, if he ain't, if they ain't dominating us, you know,
I get him out of there, and then boy, we
just take off and win that game.

Speaker 5 (46:07):
They's got the Cowboys winning by how many?

Speaker 8 (46:09):
Oh? Yeah, if he's not playing a landslide?

Speaker 4 (46:12):
Okay, yeah, landslide, Chris, what you got, someone's gonna win
the game?

Speaker 5 (46:22):
New what you got, Jesse.

Speaker 6 (46:25):
It wouldn't surprise me for the Cowboy thing to do
if they go and win this football game, but the
likelihood of the doing them doing that probably won't. Michael
needs a half a sack right to get the ten.
I think Michael needs a half a sack to.

Speaker 8 (46:37):
Get somebody needs a running back? What a yard or
two to get ahead of somebody.

Speaker 6 (46:43):
So I got the Cowboys losing this game twenty four thirteen,
twenty four to thirty.

Speaker 8 (46:48):
So that don't sound like the Hey is in the barn.

Speaker 4 (46:51):
Well, I'm gonna go out on a high note. I'm
gonna say Cowboys win seven team sixteen.

Speaker 6 (47:01):
Okay, that's not even believable. You don't even believe that answer.

Speaker 5 (47:04):
I do believe it all my heart. He is in
the barn, Fellas, It's been a great year.

Speaker 8 (47:11):
It's fun.

Speaker 5 (47:12):

Speaker 4 (47:14):

lot of different ways on Thursdays.

Speaker 5 (47:19):

Is it eleven on Thursday?

Speaker 4 (47:22):

Speaker 6 (47:22):

Speaker 8 (47:23):
