Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, this is Valerie, and today I'm going to talk to
you about your website, yourhome care website.
At Approved Senior Network,we've been working with and
designing home care websites fornon-medical home care and home
health care websites since 2009.

(00:20):
We've been in business 16 years, though, so that's a lot of
experience over the years withWordPress and building websites
and seeing how our competitionbuilds websites and seeing how
the big players in the marketbuild their websites and which
ones perform better.
I will tell you this On thewhole if your website is two to

(00:44):
three years old, it's time tostart thinking about upgrading
your site, and they don't meanyou have to have it.
If you like the look and feelof it, you can keep that, but
the back end of a website getsold pretty fast.
Technology changes every day,and as we advance into AI and

(01:07):
better WordPress themes and allkinds of great back-end
technology, the website that youbuilt three years ago is
becoming harder to keep up with.
I mean, any web developer who'sbeen around for a long time
will tell you that olderwebsites are harder to manage.

(01:27):
They are fraught with errors astechnology moves forward.
So think of your website as aninvestment in your business.
If you started out with Wix orWeebly or Squarespace and your
business has grown, think aboutinvesting in a website that
really does do all the thingsI'm about to talk about.

(01:49):
First of all, user-friendlynavigation, whether it's on your
phone and actually you want tomake sure on your phone, on your
mobile device, that yourwebsite looks really good.
So on your phone it needs tohave user-friendly navigation.
Of course, it needs to bemobile, responsive and the
loading time for a mobileversion of your website needs to

(02:10):
be super fast.
Now, years ago 2018, googletold us we don't care about
anything but the mobile version.
So today we measure websitespeed not only on desktop, but
also on mobile.
So when we develop a website,we test it on the desktop how
fast does it load?
Then we test it again on amobile device how fast does it

(02:32):
load?
And we need to get those scoresin the A range.
It needs to load in less than asecond or in 1.5 seconds.
A website that loads in 5seconds, 11 seconds, even 3
seconds on a mobile device isgoing to get left behind,
because Google wants their usersto have a great experience and

(02:54):
a user is not going to even wait3 seconds for that website to
load.
We want instant everythingright, so your website has to
load fast.
Seo everything right, so yourwebsite has to load fast.
Seo.
Lately and I can't believe thisstill exists, but lately I've
run across websites that werebeautifully developed but had no
search engine optimizationadded to them after the fact.

(03:16):
The pages of the website weresome kind of technical
gobbledygook stuff.
It didn't make sense.
The way they're appearing onGoogle search didn't make sense.
So what happened was a webdeveloper developed a really
nice site but they did nothingon the back end to make it say
the right words and give theright descriptions.

(03:38):
So we had to go in and fix allof that for that client.
Even though we did not buildthe website, they paid us to fix
their SEO.
So all of our websites are 100%search engine optimized from
the minute they're developed.
And then some of our clientspay for enhanced SEO developed.

(04:00):
And then some of our clientspay for enhanced SEO, which is
even more additives to yourwebsite to give it better
visibility.
But all websites should have atleast some basic SEO and then
quality content.
All of the content on yourwebsite needs to be easy on the
eyes and easy on the reader'sbrain.
So we're talking about 50 yearold, 60 year olds and even older
that might be looking at yourwebsite and they may not be

(04:21):
super web savvy.
So it's really important thatyour website is easy on the eyes
and uses bulleted lists andshorter paragraphs so that
people can skim the page reallyfast.
Contact information yourwebsite phone number, your
office phone number, should beat the very top of your website
and it should be visible both onthe desktop and mobile, and on

(04:45):
mobile that number should beclickable.
So if that's not happening, make sure you talk to your web
developer.
We see time and time again wherea website pulls up.
It looks beautiful, but nowheredoes it say what areas they,
but nowhere does it say whatareas they serve.
Nowhere does it say the phonenumber.
I have to search for the phonenumber or the contact
information.
There's this really good bookout there called Don't Make Me

(05:06):
Think and it was written back in2012 by a website developer,
and the idea behind Don't MakeMe Think is to educate web
developers that the consumerdoesn't want to have to think
about how to make contact withthe business owner, so don't
make me think about how I'mgoing to have to change pages or

(05:27):
search around your website tocontact you.
If I have to do that, I'm gone,so don't make me think.
Make sure your phone number, theareas you service and even your
services are located on thehomepage in an easy-to-see
format.
Your content should be uniqueto your website and not a
duplicate of anyone else'swebsite.

(05:47):
Let's see what else Cl fewtestimonials.
Put them on the homepage.
You can have an entire pagededicated to testimonials, but
make sure that you have a few onthat homepage.
Google Analytics should be setup from the very beginning of a
website going live so that youcan see over time how traffic is

(06:09):
changing, improving, decreasing.
What happens when you run acaregiver ad, what happens when
you turn it off?
All those traffic patterns needto be noted and you should
learn about how people arereaching your website.
All of these things are thingsthat you can do or your web
developer can do for you veryeasily, but what we find is that

(06:31):
we're often playing the rescuecard.
People come to us and say mywebsite's not performing the way
I thought, or I'm not gettinggreat customer service, or it
doesn't load fast, or it doesn'tshow up anywhere on Google.
Can you help me and absolutelyat approve senior network.
We can help you with all ofyour website needs.

(06:51):
Just go to ASN home carecom andclick on website portfolio and
you can see a list of all of ourwebsites and not all of them,
but you know a great number ofthem samples and you can click
through and see those websitesin real time.
Thanks for watching.
