Speaker 1 (00:10):
This is in the locker room with Wolf and Starks
on ESPN Pittsburgh against Steelers Nation Radio, presented by your
neighborhood Forward Store. The F one fifty is the official
truck of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Wild Card weekend continues here

(00:42):
on CBS. One of these teams will be eliminated from
the postseason picture today from Heinz Field, the Cleveland Browns
and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Look at what happened during pre
game ram up Joey Porter and Brent Boyer getting into
each other's faces, crowding around, a little bit of shoving.
Kind of give your idea of what this Pittsburgh Cleveland

(01:05):
rivalry has been all about down through the year. Second
and gold too, well, they have to down linemen and

(01:32):
now a third hulkom throwing totally inside the thirty yard nine,
looking at three out of bounds Larder and he got there.
No now Rue caught, but we're out of time. The
official was waving his arms, but the clock had expired.

(01:52):
The Steelers have one, and they yet another Cleveland defeat
as the Steelers put him down in Old three. In
the n f C Wild Card Game, Steelers beat the Browns.
That was twenty years ago, and the key to it
was Max Fool to my followhim. How about that? I

(02:15):
just nailed that name. I didn't. I've been practicing. I
mean you had. You should know that name because you
had to say that name so many times back in
the day. But we did have to go to the archives.
We just went with Foo, all right, Hey, just give
him the food. Yeah exactly, Hey, fool on the touchdown?

(02:39):
Know what is his name? Fool? No? No, no, no,
his name Foo? What was his first name? Cong Oh? Yeah,
you sharp as a bowling ball early in the morning,
young man. Hey listen. So you know, hey, listen, I'm
not as good as that once was, but I'm better

(02:59):
than I am right now. You know. So that wasn't
even Toby Keith. My goodness, that was good. No, yeah exactly.
Now you know I had to add the freestyle a
little bit, you know, no copyrighting frenchman um. But but no,
I mean, I mean, that's that is the essence of this.
Like I heard what I was talking about the Joey porterfield,
Like I I vividly remember that fight. We we are

(03:21):
all sitting there on our side of the field green,
the one that he he had been in a couple
of fights. Yeah, exactly, so the one that was playing
was Brandt Boyer. But yes, the William Green fight is
the one that I'm referring. And you know, I just
remember that we're in Cleveland, you know, I'm warming up,

(03:42):
getting ready, and then you just you look, you know
when when we're having a warm up stress, Joey's got it.
You know, he's got his jersey rolled halfway up from
wine tropic oil on the abs right to add definition,
and he's just he's just yapping. He is just talking across.
This is also the reason why the NFL now has

(04:04):
made it mandatory that the teams can only go up
to the forty five on their side of the Porter rule. Yes,
it's the it's the it's the Porter law or law
tin yard tin yard cushion between teams, because when we
had it at the fifty, you know, Joey would be
at the forty nine point nine nine yard line and

(04:29):
he would be flirting, he'd be flirting with with that
with with just the edge of the hair of the
white of the fifty yard line, Oh my goodness, and
that that that melay in fighting, everybody getting objected from
the game. I mean, was just it was It was wild.
You know what's so funny was I was down there
and Joey and Willie and William Greene started going at

(04:51):
and Joey's shoulder rolled the nice right hand, came back
over the top and popped William green He got the
blow in the deciding blow, and I was like, I
was doing color common terry down on Sunlight's for tounchon
Billy oh shoulder roll no end up Bob and weaveen.
I came over the top o the right hand scores
overhead right again. That was just Joey was just amazing.

(05:14):
You know. I love the fact that he could take
just a chip of paint and turn that into the
biggest chip on the shoulder that could you could possibly imagine,
oh man, And he could also get under your skin
and better than anybody else. I mean, he was a
world class blank talker. Yep, yep, because we're not says,
we're not allowed to say that. Trash trash talker work,

(05:37):
good work, trash see thank you, thank you. I don't
want to I don't want to wear out the dump
button here Early on a Friday morn exactly. You know,
I'm not I'm not trying to give any letters into
the office about my language this early on a Friday.
It's too many things because because you know what, because
I can still say Cleveland sucks. You know, when I
was hearing that Drew Carry song, I think it was Cleveland,

(06:00):
Yeah sucks. I wish you could have heard it in
the background there while I was playing that intro. Max.
You know, I've got you both in que so I
can hear you in case something happens. Max is in
the background going Cleveland sucks. Cleveland was tempting to turn
his mic on and let him, let him come. You know,
it's it's really one of the greatest rivalries in football.

(06:24):
There really is. I mean, I know it's had it's
ups and downs. When the one like eighteen straight or
something like that, it's not really a rivalry when you're
pounding the other guy all the time. It is it is,
it is. You know, it's just lit listen while they're down,
kick him while they're down, I mean, and keep kicking them.
Pour the dirt on. I mean, yeah, no, we we

(06:46):
we don't hit the break with all gas, no brakes.
When it comes to Cleveland, come on, and in Baltimore.
I'm taking great pride in it. I remember back in
my day when Doug Deacon kicked Jack Lambert, whereas Chuck
Noll said a young man shouldn't be kicked. You know
what I mean. It's setting off on melee on on
on the field, you know. And then another year, I

(07:06):
remember when Jerry Olsavsky you know, was over and he
tackled somebody out of bounds. He's putting his hand out
to help him up. Greg Glood came along and smacked
his arms, said, we don't do that here, you know,
I mean, the disposition and friendliness goes right out the window.
And good solid Cleveland Pittsburgh rivalry games absolutely who helps

(07:28):
who helps the Cleveland I don't care if we went
to daycare together. Listen, I'm sorry, you know, and daycare buddy,
I love it. Yeah, yeah, I'm just saying if it
was my best friend that goes back to daycare, he
and he's playing on the Cleveland Browns. Sorry, we're not
friends right now. I don't know what to tell you.

(07:48):
We we we could talk about it after the game
is over, but while the game is going on, I
don't know you like I mean, and listen, my cousin,
My cousin Travis played for the Houston Texas. We're down
there in Houston and No. Five right that that game
where they decided, Hey, we're gonna sweat out the Steelers,
will put them in black jerseys, open up the dome,

(08:08):
and we're gonna wear white jerseys. And we proceeded to
beat the beat the crap out of David Carr and
the rest of that defense. My cousin Travis was right
there on the d line. Didn't stop me at all
from hitting him on a double team and catching their
ribcage like this little in the ribs. You're not my
friend right now. And now if we're on the same

(08:28):
side of the ball, listen, we can hug it out.
We have a good time. I think that's why you
have Connor and Cam on the same team, right, Derek,
Derek and and t J on the sage right, because
you don't want to have to physically hurt your sibling.
Uh you know what I'm saying. But at the same time,
I got a job to do. If you if you
are in direct conflict of my said job description, well

(08:52):
let the pieces fall where they may you know, let
me tell you something that's so true, because you know,
we played the Cardinals way back after Ronnie I think
it was his second year or something like that at Pittsburgh.
I can't remember when it was. You know, the Cardinals
come down. So I picked Ronnie up and we bring
him back to the house and we have you know,
dinner and so forth. And I'm taking him back to

(09:13):
the hotel at the point. It used to be the
Hilton there, so I'm dropping him off. And that day
was our special teams meeting on Saturday. You know, that
morning we had the run through at the stadium and
so forth. So one of the things that we're gonna
do was Ronnie. They had two guys that would always
be back for the kickoffs, and Ronnie was a lead
blocker on the kickoffs. So what they were gonna do,
because he was such an outstanding blocker and you know

(09:35):
what a great special team performer he was, They're gonna
kick the ball at Ronnie to try to take him
out of the blocking equation and so forth. Right, So
it's that's a minor detail, you know, really, but here
I am. I'm I've got the older brother thing, you know,
and all dinner long, We're talking, laughing this and that
and staying away from the subject of tomorrow and so forth,

(09:57):
and then I'm dropping him off and and the whole way,
I like want to tell him, you know, hey, be ready,
we're gonna kick the ball at you on you know,
tomorrow on the kickoffs. So I'm in this quandary, right,
and I'm like, so I pull up to the front
of the Hilton. He jumps out and he starts to
walk away. Go Rodney. I rolled down the Rodney. Wait

(10:18):
come here. And I look at him and he looks
at me, and he goes he's leading the window, goes
what And I go tomorrow and he goes yeah, he
goes uh. And I go watch yourself, I mean, because
you know, help it. Just watch yourself, you know. And
nothing else was disseminated, right, It's that it's that dilemma.

(10:39):
This is my blood brother and yet I have blood
brothers that are Steelers now, you know, And it's the team.
It's it's all that wrapped into one. And it was
such a minor thing, but yet it's still something that
you feel like you owe the guys that you line
up with as well, you know, what I mean, and
it was such a dilemma for me. Yeah, I mean, yeah,

(11:00):
it comes you know, it comes into that moment. And
obviously I never had a sibling play with me, um,
so I think I would probably be in the same,
especially if you're an older brother. Right. It's like listen,
you know how it's like, you know how he fights.
I've like had to prevent or jump in at your aid.
It's like, yeah, it comes to point We're like, listen,

(11:22):
I love you and I can't give up all the juice.
But I'm just gonna say, hey, just be aware. And
that's he's what does that mean? Yes, just everything. He
looks he's leaning there and has said, you know, just
watch yourself, and he looks at me quizzically, and then
all of a sudden he goes, uh, he goes, I
got you. No worries, no worries. You know, he relieved

(11:45):
me of any sort of like guilty exactly. You know,
he was like, don't worry about it, you know. So yeah,
that's that's part of it, you know. I mean, you
have that that tremendous you know sort of thing going on. Um.
But anyhow, I'm not even your where I was going
to that. We were talking about families stuff and and

(12:09):
you know whether you like it because I simply said, listen,
you know about the history of the Cleveland rivalry. And
I said, listen, even if we went to daycare together,
you're not, You're not. I love the fact that you can.
You can walk it right back to the beginning of it.
It's a good memory. Yeah. Yeah, you just wait, buddy,
you wait till you're my age. And I'm a sudden
you're going. Where was I going with this? That? And

(12:31):
that's where writing comes in. One more one more thing too, gentlemen.
That wild card come from behind victory first playoff game
at Hines Field now Akrisher Stadium twenty years ago. Yesterday
was also the birth of Oh I Know It, Oh
momm and Fief my life from the long of the Law,

(12:58):
Doom Doom. Brown's is coming down for a loss and
they don't have very log Wesley, You're awesome your own
what karaoke machine man? Wes Lee Oki? What's Leslie? Westley

(13:21):
might have not done Oklahoma, but he can do Okay
just fine? Yeah, exactly. That is too funny. So that
that is an awesome point to uh to bring up
about the birth of of course, Renegade and Renegade. Yes,
I saw those dudes. They played it live there at
one at one point in time, and um, they were

(13:41):
coming off. And there's something about some of those rockers,
those eighties rockers, looking a little rough, you know what
I mean, Not that I got the same thing going on.
You know, you know, it's like I always don't mock
me on the face of your future. Max's like, listen, listen,
hey you you you did what they did in a

(14:02):
different way, you know, same era, same partying, just different outcomes.
Thank you Jesus keeping keeping keeping me together. Oh my goodness,
yes so, but yes, all right. So we got this
big game coming up, my friend, and uh, this is
this is exciting. I mean, think about it. If you

(14:24):
can get the uh let's see, the Dolphins gotta beat
the Jets, right, No, they gotta lose. Let me get
this right. We need Dolphins. We Dolphins to lose to
the Jets, and we need Patriots to lose to the Bills, right,
Patriots lose that. Yeah, so Patriots and Dolphins gotta lose
for us to get in, which is very and we

(14:47):
gotta beat the Browns. I kept getting that screwed up.
I meant to write it down and I was like, no,
I got it. You know, stupidly, you don't have it,
you know. I mean you start getting up in the
sixty four and you you know, I'm sitting, Yeah, where
did that go? That? That's when you have to go
back to connect the dots. You know, He's just to
connect that la la la la, connect the dots. The

(15:13):
jet bones connect to the dolphin bones, buffalo bones connected
to the exactly. But no, so essentially here here that
that is. That is the scenario. That is the scenario
for the Steelers. Boom Dolphins, Pats lose Steelers. And that's

(15:34):
the basically way I'm putting it. And you know, and
of course related with that, of course the update with
Tamar Hamlin, right, yeah, I got to address his team
via FaceTime. So he's been ext debated or breathing tube
has been taken out, and he spent time talking to

(15:55):
his teammates. I mean, I can't even tell you what
that means mental for a team. Um, you know, because
it was funny because you know, I was like thinking
back on, like, you know, the O nine championship game
against the Baltimore rates and when Willis mcgahey and Ryan
Clark had had had that vicious hit, and you know,

(16:18):
you're waiting to hear how Ryan was doing right the
next day after that, and and luckily we got we
got good news sooner than obviously the Buffalo bills. But
it's that immense relief that you know, Okay, he's okay, alright,
we can proceed. This is this is how we're going

(16:40):
to go about those things. Um. But you know you're
waiting there with bated breath. And of course this um
event is a lot more intense, a lot more um impactful, um,
you know, but still but still scary. Nonetheless. I mean,
I just remember that that was still the loudest hit

(17:00):
I've ever heard in my life. I remember, do you
remember what year was, No. Two thousand nine, January two
thousand nine. Yeah, that was an SC championship game from
the O eight season. Um, and uh yeah, I remember
I remember that very vividly. It was a cold it
was a cold night, and you know, and that hit

(17:22):
was still, yeah, I mean, in person, loudest hit I've
ever heard. Oh man, I I still remember that crack
and the fact that they just laid each other out. Yeah,
I mean both of them. I was like, I was like, listen,
son of a gun. I've always had the utmost respect

(17:44):
for r C in his game, you know what I mean,
because he was he harkened back to the days of
Donnie Shell, you know, I mean that was a Shell
like hit, no questions about that. Well, and he I mean,
he literally has put his life on the line a
number of times. I mean that hit you think about
in Denver Um, you know, having having to be taken

(18:07):
to the hospital sickle cell trade with his gall bledder
um sorry his yeah, gallbladder, gallbladder had to be removed
because of that um and just being sick and then
not being able to I mean yeah, so, I mean,
so you know, he's one of those few that you
just sit there, You're like, listen, what he's given to
the game. Yeah, he deserves all of all of the

(18:32):
spoils at this point, is like he because he's he
has sacrificed a lot um over over the years. But um,
but yeah, now it's one of those things that you know,
for the Buffalo Bills, this is great news and and
hopefully this inspires them to go beat the pats for us.
You know, that's a selfish way of saying it, but no, um, no,

(18:54):
I mean I think that that that gives them the okay, right,
that's the proverbial thumbs up when a guy gets carted
off the field. Um. You know, obviously still not out
of the woods for Damar hamlin Um. But this, this is,
this is just tremendous on the progression. Yeah. I mean

(19:14):
when you talk about being touched by an angel, um,
that that's exactly what this is. And obviously to DeMar's
family that's out there in Pittsburgh McKees, Rocks, the Rocks area,
you know, he's still in our prayers as well, and
prayer works. Baby. The power of prayer is enormous. It's

(19:35):
just gentlemen, gentlemen, good timing here. Uh. Ten minutes ago,
the Buffalo Bills tweeting this out. Per the per the
physicians at University of Cincinnati Cincinnati Medical Center, DeMar's breathing
tube was removed overnight. He continues to progress remarkably in
his recovery. His neurologic function remains intact, and he has
been able to talk to his family and careten ten

(19:57):
minutes ten minutes ago, from the Buffalo Bill. That's awesome, man,
man or man, that's huge. You know, you think about it,
and there's well, there's other things going on too, I mean,
you know, just and I don't mean to just switch back,
but you were talking about the Browns and former Brown's
running back Peyton hillis Uh is in critical condition after
saving his children from drowning. And I don't know all

(20:18):
the aspects of that, but it's being reported that, you know,
he saved his children from drowning and he was unconscious
in the intensive care unit of a hospital after the incident.
He was being treated for problems with his lungs and kidneys,
according to tmz UM. So that's somebody we can we
can pray for there too. I mean, I don't know

(20:39):
what happened, but you know, Peyton was played seven seasons,
you know, in the NFL, starting with the Broncos. So
this guy, you know, oh you think about with your kids,
I can't even imagine, you know, absolutely, I mean, you know,
there is no urgency and no more greater superpower that
has assumed when your children are in day. Yes, yeah, exactly.

(21:05):
The feat the feats that humans can can can can
do and accomplish are tremendous. Um, So prayers up, Prayers
up to Peyton hillis Rhino back. I remember him on
the cover of Madden back in the day. Yeah so
so No, definitely, prayers up to the Hills family as well,

(21:27):
along with the Hamblin family. Uh but yeah, but I
mean tremendous news for Damar and his family and his
his road to recovery is one step closer, um which
is which is a beautiful thing. But let me just
listening real quick. It's amazing. He woke up and what happened?

(21:47):
He said, Hey, who won? What you talk about? A gamer? Man?
What a gamer? He's it's it's it's reported in one
of the news clippings that that he has to one.
I just man, what a guy. Yeah listen until they
tell him exactly what happened. And it's like he has
no clue, you know, and I think that I'm pretty

(22:11):
sure in his mind. Yeah, I got knocked out and
I just woke up. So okay, Hey it's only been
ten minutes. It's like more times gone by a little
more times gone by. Yeah, I was I was about
to say, yeah, this is this has felt like years
to us on the outside moments to you. But you

(22:31):
know that that that that is, that's a definition of
an athlete, right and then ultimate competitor. Hey, who won
exactly first things he says just about so that's fantastic.
He woke up and said, did we win the Super Bowl?
Then I'd be worried. But but that means he's neurologically intact. Right,

(22:52):
he won the game. That's just great news about Demarrow
and we hope that he continues and pray that he
continued brow uh back in his rehab here and all
the things go, well, alright, Max, we need to go
to break and we're gonna come back. Yeah, we we are,
we are, we are due for a break. Alright. You
are in the locker room with Wolf it Starks here

(23:14):
on the ESPN And that's in our radio. This is
in the locker room with Wolf and Starks on ESPN

(23:35):
Pittsburgh against Steelers Nation Radio presented by your neighborhood Forward Store.
The F one is the official truck of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Um.
I really say it's a leadership thing. Um Honestly, my
first year being at the Steelers and just had to
run things and even when things are bad, We're two
and six. There was no panic. Where I've been in
other places and it's like the houses on fire, everybody's

(23:58):
about to lose their job mortgage as a stake, But
here it was just kind of like was just continually
get better and see what's going on. So, UM, I
really just give it up to coach team and how
he's kind of conducting things. I mean, he's been the
same whether we win or whether we lose with it.
And the beautiful thing about that, Max, you and I
have both experienced similar with our coaches. Chuck Nole was

(24:19):
very similar in his attitude. Is is Mike and Bill
Kawer as well, and you've played for both of those guys.
But the fact of the matter is I love when
players get real and shed some light on what's going
on internally. And one of the things going on internally
was just the fact that in my experiences, for instance,
with Chuck, you know, we were sitting at one in
seven back in Hey, I know, it's a horrible year, Um,

(24:41):
but we won four of our last five, and I
remember Mike Webster said the whole reason that the season
didn't go down like the Titanic was because Chuck never
lost the team, He never lost his poise, he never
lost his leadership, he never lost the trust of everybody
inside those four walls. And I can say the same
thing happened with Mike and would build. Yeah, I mean,

(25:03):
and it's that don't flinch mentality, right. I mean, for
as bad as things can go, so can it reverse
in the opposite direction and be great? And I think
when you're a coach that has experience that has been
here before before, you understand that, hey, yeah, this is

(25:26):
as bad as it can get. But guess what, you
still control your own fate. You control. You might not
control necessarily how other people react, but you can control
how you act. And I think that's one of the
things I look at and that's what makes this so
cool is that you have someone like Mike Tomlin that's

(25:47):
a leader that has been here. And when you're true
leader of men, you don't flinch at that. You you
understand that this too shall pass, right. You know, hard
times are just that hard times, and it's not forever.

(26:07):
It's not permanent, it's not lasting unless you're the Browns.
Um Sorry that did I say that out loud? I
don't think I heard that I don't think, okay, good good,
good umer monologue unless you're unless you're the Browns. You know,
I'm like Austin Powers when he thought out in the

(26:27):
first time. You know what I'm saying. I have no
inner monologue, no um, but that that you can go
through these tough moments because you know that there is
light at the end of the tunnel, right. You know,
when you've been at this for fifteen now sixteen years

(26:48):
and you've seen this and you've fought out of this,
and you've never been below five hundred, you've had some
moments has tested that record, right, and so you so
you can so you have something to draw in. And
that's what we talk about like young people, when you
don't have experience, it's scary, right when you don't know

(27:11):
what's around that corner. But when you had somebody that's
walked that maze plenty of times, you trust following that
individual because you're like, hey, he's been here before. Look
he's got a map. You know that we just follow
the map will be good. And and that's that's what
That's the mark of a good coach, UM, a great coach,

(27:35):
you know, and a remarkable coach I mean, you know,
I hate to put some protails on top of each
other and build to him. But I mean, that's what
makes Mike Tomlins so great is that he's been through this.
So therefore if he if coach tells me not to worry,
I'm not gonna worry. He tells me to just keep playing.
Guess what, I gotta keep playing. He knows better than I.

(27:56):
So so yeah, so no, So that was great to
hear that from Miles Jacket. And like I said, he's
been in other places, so he's also seen the other way. Yes,
he has. You he's seen he's seen the tankathon. That's
that's what he's talking about. You know what I mean
you're talking about. You know, the house is on fire,
the mortgages are at stake, and you know, everybody's getting
out of here going, you know. And the fact is

(28:18):
that's what steadiness means in a leader. Looked not to
flinch in the face of adversity. We've heard this over
and over from Mike, but we saw it. I saw
it up close and personal with Chuck over and over
throughout a decade, you know. And and you saw that
again with Bill and with Mike. You know, what I mean.
So it's like the fact is when when you have

(28:40):
if you're the lead dog up in front of what
I always talk about what was forty five mail for
males in my time in fifty three. Now you're you're
in there and you can't flinch and you can't show
any panic or any any sort of uh seeking comfort.
As Mike would say, it's about, you know, standing up
and and where leadership like water wears wet is the

(29:02):
best way to describe. That's the best term I've ever
heard in describing Mike. And that's the way it was
for Chuck, and that's the way it was for Bill Kauer.
You know, it's a natural part of your ability to
to lead. It's like they say, if if you're if
you're if you're leading and nobody's following, you're just out
for a walk. Yeah. Absolutely, And think about this, when

(29:26):
you named those three names, Chuck, No, Bill Kawer and
Mike Tomlin us name fifty years of coaches, Yeah, exactly.
How many places can say that. That's exactly the part
I would like to quote, the last half century of coaches, Chucking,
Bill Kawer, Mike Tomlin. There we go, all right, that
that's that's our last fifty years. What about you if

(29:49):
you're a Cleveland fan exactly and guaranteed as a Cleveland fan,
you don't remember all their names exactly. Oh, you know,
And that's that's what I appreciate though. So again, as
we talked about this and how they've changed it around,
you know what I mean, you think about I think
about back in the day in eighty nine when we

(30:10):
had A eighty nine. They were tough years and there
was a huge amount of noise and criticism coming from
outside the locker room. But it was steady as she
goes inside the locker room. And that's part of the point,
you know, the ability to keep going and pushing forward.
And again you think about it since the bye, things
have really changed around. They're doing some great things offensively.

(30:32):
Now they're not finishing all their drives. They got issues
with that. But the point is they're down a sack
a game as far as um in past protection. They're
up fifty yards uh in rushing a game. They're up
uh what a whole half a yard or so in
yards per carry. I mean, all these numbers are rising

(30:52):
and trending in the right direction. And you you gotta
believe that these guys gotta turnaround during the bye week
and we're able to see exactly what was needed to
be done and able to answer the bell at the
appropriate moments. Yeah, and like you said, all of that
um dry finishing, getting in the red zone, not getting

(31:14):
in touch. They're all on the cusp though. They're so
on the custom of just exploding with points with touchdowns
versus field goals. And it's just right there. But it's growth.
It's growth in the process, right. They're getting better, They're
they're moving along, they're moving the needle. Like you said,

(31:36):
so many positives along the way, but the only missing
thing is the t D number. That's the only thing
that's missing here. And I'm not gonna lie. I feel
pretty confident about this weekend. I feel the same way, ma'am.
You know what, I'm cautiously optimistic that we might get it.
We might get an outburst. It would be I'm telling
you right now. You look at the Rounds and you

(31:58):
look at their defense. They start off the game well,
but they fade throughout the game. Their defensive points per quarter, Uh,
they they're at a low in the first quarter and
they're at a. I think they're at either at the
bottom or near the bottom in the fourth quarter and
giving up points. And the Steelers, I think are reversed.

(32:20):
They get stronger as the second half comes on, and
then for the for the Browns, they get weaker. And
so it's one of these things. I really believe that
if you pound these guys enough and give them the
opportunity to find a reason to want to quit, they will.
And I think that you can break their their will.
And I think you can send them back to Cleveland

(32:41):
and uh, you know, it's just a long bus ride
and then we can see in Cleveland sucks. Cleveland sucks.
There you go. I mean, because I mean, you know,
and I think the biggest thing is, right, I equated
to popcorn muscles right right, Um, you know, it's like

(33:01):
all for show. Right. You're also, oh my gosh, this dude,
he's so strong. Look at the muscles. He's got muscles
on top of muscles, and it's like Bob Sap. Do
you remember Bob Sap? I remember Bob Sap. Like Bob
Sap walking in the ring. You're like, oh my god,
this dude is is gonna be this is gonna hurt.
This is gonna be intimidating. I'm like, oh my god,
this dude so massive. And then I watched Little Guys

(33:25):
actually after the first round just absolutely whipped the crap
out of him like he had he had, he had
no stamina, he had no chin. Like how many times
do we see him like wobbly legs after getting hit
one time in the face. You're like, dude, you you
literally are sculpted out of granite. I'm like, and you're seriously,

(33:45):
but you're also the stiffest granted to um, but but
that that's how I feel like when I look at
Cleveland'm like, yeah, man, dude walking into the stadium, Hey
all tournament team, right, it's like, look like the mom
stars coming in. But then you realize the monsters fizzle
away and they lose their powers as the game unfolds.
And I think that's the same thing with Cleveland. You

(34:06):
can't be intimidated by the look because those if you
look at their own and d lines, You're like, who,
these dudes should be destroying people. They should have like
five hundred yards of offense. They should be giving up
like negative five hundred yards of uh in defense. You know,
what I'm saying, like, right, we should, we should have
a chance. But then you play and you're like, uh,
not so much. Oh my goodness, yes, oh we got

(34:33):
we got an update. Wes Ley Uller here at the
SNR Breaking News Desk to let you know, obviously all
of Pittsburgh and Steelers Nation will have its eyes on
Jets and Dolphins this weekend. Well, the Jets have just
announced that quarterback Mike White is out on Sunday versus
the Dolphins, and that Joe Flacco, Yes, that E L

(34:55):
I T E Elite, Joe Flacco will start again. Miami, Pittsburgh,
your playoff hopes are in the hands of Joe Flacco,
Max and Wolf. Back to you. I'm Wesley Euler at
the SNR Breaking News Desk. There is nothing like exactly

(35:17):
Johnny is on the spot with that one. And let's
face it, I mean Joe Flacco, He's he's been a
winner this season when called in, when preston the duty.
I'm sure when he signed that contract he was expecting
to sit on the bench and drink all the gatorade
his heart could, his heart could desire. But no, he
gets pulled back in the ring once again. And asked

(35:39):
to do Yeoman's work to finish out this season. And
you know what, I'm all for it. I'm I'm I'm
a Waka Flocka fan right now, come on, you crap.
I was almost no, no question, no question. He's like, listen,
I have not had to lace my cleats this week three.

(36:00):
I've just been tucking them in the size of my shoes.
Let's get come on, Jack. Sorry, really, he's sorry. He
looked at this letter I founded his lucker written in
my handwriting. You know, I gotta stop laughing because it
would be it would be like the biggest turnaround. And

(36:20):
then Flacco comes out and it was like, you know,
one of those one point three days or whatever, you know,
with a perfect quarterback rating. But I'm sitting the most part,
I'm thinking Flacco has gotta be thinking that gum. And
I was almost through this season without taking any more hints.
I was like, I made it seventeen weeks. I fooled
him at the beginning of the year, and then I

(36:41):
just got to watch everybody else burned around me in
the quarterback room. But I just sat in the corner,
you know, I grabbed my coffee, had a clipboard in
my hand. They forgot I was a quarterback at one point,
Like I'm a player coach. I'm actually in the personnel
meetings with the I'm not even going to I'm not

(37:02):
even going to players meetings anymore. I don't hang out
with the guys. In fact, anyways, I'm at home because
you know, I have exactly, I'm just trying to get
out of practice. I can go pick my kids up
in car line. You know, I've got soccer practice tonight. Geez,
it really keeps crimping it. Yeah, exactly, it's like now now, now,

(37:26):
now I have to actually stretch, you know, he's just
getting the sun and walk out to practice. I can't
wear my place kick shoulder pads, exactly. I just I
just had spider shells on on game day. I mean
it was great. That's all out the window. They're gonna
leave my I'm gonna leave my my my subway sub

(37:49):
got leave in the locker room. Now. Yeah, it's like
no hot dogs at halftime. Hey, where's my mouthpiece? Mouthpiece?
You need a mouthpiece to go in here. It's in
the container to the left, the left. If I had,

(38:10):
they'd be cramping right now. Exactly, all right, We'll be
back with more in the locker room, Wolf and Starks
and of course Johnny on the spot here Wesley Euler
are are fearless, you know, karaoke master, slash breaking news
reporter here in the locker room on ESPNR. This is

(38:39):
in the locker room with Wolf and Starks on ESPN
Pittsburgh against Steelers Nation Radio, presented by your neighborhood Forward Store.
The F one is the official truck of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
They bring four ben pumps and down he goes near
the goal line and that was Dadavean Clowney, just on

(38:59):
him before he could do anything with the football. Back
at the SNR Breaking news desk. It's a busy day
here in the news world, folks. According to Cleveland dot Com,

(39:20):
just minutes ago, Jadeveon Clowney sent home by the Browns
Friday and wake of an interview with Cleveland dot Com
where he said he was sure he wouldn't be back
with the Browns and he will not practice today. His
status for Sunday versus Steelers still remains uncertain. Max and
Wolf back to you if you read the article about

(39:48):
Jadeveon Clowney, which was essentially him just complaining about the
fact that the defense is all geared towards Miles get
who he keep he repetitively and that article he keeps
saying he's got no problem with Miles Garrett, that you know,
their buddies and they're they're all copasetic and everything. Miles
Garrett has fifteen sacks, Jendevion Clowney has two sacks. But

(40:10):
at the same time he says, well, they're giving all
the you know, the best positions to Miles Garrett. Well,
maybe Miles Garrett is better than Jendevion Clowney, but Jendevion
Clowney certainly thinks he's comparable to Miles Garrett. Was really
complaining about it. It's amazing. Yeah, just became probably after that.

(40:33):
In case you were wondering where that lingering hanging the
five was just left town, Yeah, exactly, just go ahead
and find it and found it. Found it. Guys, We
close this case right there there. It is hardcore detective
ship right there. Great job, everyone, Boom. The quickest way

(40:55):
to get out of there is to have that article
and get sent home right before the last game the
sea Max he in it. He says, that he chose
to only play third downs, and that Tavian Bryan started
in the last game that they played because he felt that,
you know, he wasn't getting where he should be. You
know that they flipped them after he practiced on one

(41:18):
side the entire Who cares? I mean, I mean, I
would think that clown would be like, so what you
just you know, you go wherever you go, but you play,
you'd be a player, man. Exactly. I started, I started
like thirty was it, thirty six straight games at one position,
and and I'm like and they flipped me. Okay, and

(41:39):
you like it's the problem. Yeah, it's like all right,
let's let's go to the next one. Hey, am I
still on the field? Has it? Does the check still clear?
You're just let me wait a moment, yeah, okay, exactly.
Oh oh it's autodeposited. Boom. I just gotta I got
an alert. Thank you, guys, Thank you, guys. May have

(42:01):
another you know what I'm saying. I'm like, get out
of here, man, like like over here crap crying about
your about your production. How about this when you go
on the field, make it make a difference with the
guy in front of you. Yeah, if you're worried about it,
you're talking, Yeah, don't take it out on your teammate.
Are you serious? Really, he's busting his butt just but

(42:21):
always geared towards him. Well, he gets the double teams,
you don't, Uh, how about that? I'm just saying, Yeah,
you're you're getting the one on one blocks, your other
teammates getting the double team blocks. How is it geared
towards him? It is based on the opponent, not not

(42:44):
the actual team. How about that? You know, I forgot
about that. I wasn't even thinking, you know, I mean,
just I guess, I guess his lack of being a
team player just stands out to me. You know, you're
not in the same category as Miles Garrett. You're a
good player. He's a nine year veteran. You know, he's

(43:06):
had you know, nine and ten years or ten sack years.
But he's not He's not anywhere near Miles Garrett as
far as that throat. You know, I just I don't know.
I think, uh, I think he thinks a little too
highly of himself. Yeah, listen, we thought highly of him
back when he was a rookie and he did not perform. Yes,

(43:27):
and he has not. Now that might be the weight
of his own conscience bearing down on him. But you
have nobody else to blame but yourself. But hey, hey,
nobody else got you injured, but you true are the
one that has the true to choose to rehab and
be more efficient. That falls on you like this is
no longer there are no scholarships. You know what I'm saying, like,

(43:49):
like this is this is your own onus. Your deeds
determine what you get, right, you eat what you kill
in those moments, he's he's not gonna be eaten much.
That's a shame, exactly. I thought this guy had so
much ability when he came out, you know, there was
so much noise about him, and he never made the

(44:09):
jump really to to that level that you thought he
was capable of. We were basing his entire skill set
and abilities off of one hit, right, right, We all
remember the hit that he laid on the Michigan running
back and oh my god, this guy is gonna be
the most dominating guy of all time, right, And we

(44:33):
were waiting to see that hit again, and we never
saw it again. You know, not not not to get
into two philosophical but you know, it's just like you
know when people are talking when when you talked to
like addicts and guys who have recovered from drug addiction, right,
it's been, it's been you're always chasing that first high, yeah,

(44:55):
and you never find it again. That's why you continually
do it, right, because you're you're looking for the same thing.
We were looking for that high of him literally hitting
a guy and his just entire helmet exploding on contact,
and we're expecting to see that from jadeveon and we
have not gotten that over these last number of years exactly.

(45:19):
So man, oh man, I just it's amazing to me.
I mean to sit there and complain and say that
you're not going to be back because um, they're feeding
Miles Garrett at my expense. A man, I mean that's
you know when I when I was reading that this morning, thinking, boy,
how are you going to go into practice and face

(45:39):
everybody with that out there? And then you and I'm
and then I'm going is the locker room? So I
don't know sterile anymore? That you know, whatever anybody says
doesn't bother anybody or and then all of a sudden,
you're always sent home Okay, I guess it did get
under the skin of the people that ought to be
a little upset about it, you know what I mean? Yeah, exactly,

(46:01):
I mean. And and that's the thing. You have nobody
to be upset with but yourself at this point. So
you know who is woe is me? That's not me,
because you know, hey, this just hopefully for the Steelers,
this guy gets them at a position where hey, listen,
this Brown's team is already starting to implode on themselves

(46:22):
before we even get to Sunday, surprise, surprise. As much
as things change, so does things not change? And I think, um,
you know this distraction. But if you're the Steelers, can't
let it distract you. Same approach. Pretend he's there, however,
you're gonna play, play that same way, same energy. Don't

(46:43):
allow their dysfunction to affect your functionality. Don't let it
bleed over onto you. You know, hey, listen, they got problems,
go ahead and give them a reason to have problems.
Make it, make it a lot easier, Like you said,
make that absolute late, no question about it. Tell me

(47:05):
what's Oh, it's the power hour on the fry day.
Here in the locker room, We're gonna continue more Steelers
Brown season finale when we come back here on S
