Ever wondered what gets young car enthusiasts revving? Join us as we hit the gas with Andrew Rogers and Braden Smith from the Woodlands High School Auto Enthusiast Club. Their club is more than an oil-stained garage - it's a community where students bond over muscle cars, imports, and even a Fiat 124 Spider. From Coffee and Cars events to an engaging relationship with the Conroe ISD, this club is shifting gears on what it means to be young, driven, and in love with the automotive world.

Now, what if we told you that Bentley, Kia, Ford, and Ram are all slamming on the brakes due to recalls? That's right! In our latest news segment, we pump the brakes on these big industry names, dissecting the issues and impacts of these recalls. We also have a bone to pick with ARC Automotive and Delphi regarding potentially faulty airbag inflators that are causing major recall issues.

As the auto industry charges towards electric vehicles, we discuss the roadblocks and green lights facing auto technicians and independent repair shops.

Lastly, we'd be remiss if we didn't share our affection for the In Wheel Time car talk show. This platform is no ordinary car show; it's a pit stop filled with unique features like Konrad's Car Clinic and the weekly 'This Week in Auto History' segment, and it's got a backseat full of upcoming live shows. You can be a part of the auto-tainment from your living room, office, or garage.

Speaker 1 (00:03):
Welcome to another In Wheel Time Podcast, a 30 minute
mini version of the In WheelTime car show that airs live
every Saturday morning 8 to 11amcentral.
It's the In Wheel Time car talkshow coming up Andrew Rogers
and the Woodlands High SchoolAuto Enthusiast Club Later.

(00:24):
Look at the automotiveheadlines this week Howdy, along
with Mike out of this world, mars King, conrad DeLong.
We always need Jeff Zekin.
I'm, don Armstrong, so gladthat you could join us on this
Saturday.
We had a little bit of rainovernight what None here, but a
lot of it on the east side oftown, and we're just praying

(00:45):
that some of that makes its wayover here later on this
afternoon.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
I like the way you did that.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
Come on, come on, come on, come on, baby, back it
up.
We're bringing the whole thingin.
Andrew Rogers is with theWoodlands High School Auto
Enthusiast Club and they got abig coffee and cars event coming
up, andrew, good morning to you, sir.
Good morning.

Speaker 4 (01:07):
How are y'all doing?

Speaker 1 (01:07):
today.
Well, we're doing just great.
Thank you so much for joiningus.
So yeah, so, andrew, tell meabout the Woodlands High School
Auto Enthusiasts Club.
We just like the name.

Speaker 4 (01:20):
Well, I appreciate that I can't take credit for the
name that goes to my students.
So I'm a teacher here at theWoodlands High School and a
couple years ago a couple of mystudents that were in one of my
classes came up to me and saidthat we want to form a car club
at the school.
To my knowledge, no other schoolhad ever done really anything
like that.
We're not in my classroom rightnow, but in my classroom I've

(01:43):
got car stuff everywherememorabilia and models and
things and stuff and so theyknow what I'm about and they
wanted to form a car club and Isaid that sounds awesome, it
sounds like a great idea.
And so we formed this club tokind of educate students and
teenagers on cars and carculture and trucks and

(02:06):
motorcycles of course too, andwe host events and stuff.
We do cars and coffee types ofthings every now and then.
We support our community aswell and, to be honest, the kids
make my job real easy.
I've got Braden here next to us.
He's our club vice presidentand yeah, it's a great time.

(02:26):
It's a great way for the kidsto learn how sometimes to work
on cars but also just kind oflearn about what they like and
just the culture in general.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Well, let's go back just a minute.
So Woodlands High School isn'tthat in the Conroe district?

Speaker 4 (02:41):
It is, yeah, we're in Conroe ISD in the Woodlands
north of Spring.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
Yeah, I did not know that Conroe had an automotive
program.

Speaker 4 (02:50):
Yeah, they do, they've got.
There's a couple of differentones.
There's sort of one that's alittle bit more on the
mechanical side, and thenthere's a body shop and paint
body program as well, operating,I think, mostly out of Conroe
High School, and students fromother high schools in the
district can bus over to that.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
So is it kind of like you know the football game on
Friday night the Woodlands HighSchool playing Conroe High
School.

Speaker 4 (03:14):
Yeah, sometimes, yeah .

Speaker 1 (03:17):
I had to go there because we're on football season
.
Yeah, you know there's a littlecompetitiveness, but it's all
under one umbrella with theConroe.
Well, I'm proud that Conroe hasgot an automotive program.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
Absolutely, you know there's so many.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
I wanted one so bad at Westbury High School, yeah,
nothing, nothing for me, and Iwould assume that they still
don't have an automotive program.
Then there aren't too manyautomotive programs that I'm
aware of in Houston ISD, and Ithink that there should be,
because you know there are usguys that we're all into cars.

(03:53):
So you have to give me the nameof your guest that's sitting
with you.

Speaker 5 (03:59):
Braden Braden Smith.
I'm the vice president of theautomotive enthusiast club here.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
So, braden, let me ask you, what are the high
school guys and gals into thesedays?
You guys into the big lightCamaros, no, or I was going to
say Asian cars.
I mean, what is it that reallygets y'all's going here?

Speaker 5 (04:24):
Yeah.
So we have a really wide rangeof, I guess, enthusiasts.
We have a lot of the big V8type muscle car guys, and then
we have import guys, andactually the president of our
club here drives a Japanese car.

(04:45):
He drives a Mazda Miata.
Oh, and he loves that.
We have a former member thatdrove a Miata and I drive a Fiat
one to four spiders.
So yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
Did you buy that one to four spider yourself or did
you get a little help from momand dad?
I got a little bit help.
I'm just going to say, becausethat's a pretty, pretty nice
little car there, fun little car, yeah, exactly One of those
that you can kind of throwaround.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
I love the logo of the pistons and wrenches.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
That's pretty cool, you should get a hold of Richard
Tomlin.
He's all into the Mazdas.
He could probably go on a hillclimb with him, mexico.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
Yeah, the only problem is with Richard.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
Actually his Miata.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
The Miata has got a big V8.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
It's got an LS7 with twin turbos in it.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
Yeah, so there is that.
So what do you guys at theWoodlands High School Auto
Enthusiast Club I mean?
Is it mainly cosmetic stuff?
Is it engine stuff?
What are you guys into thesedays?
How are you hopping up yourcars?

Speaker 4 (05:50):
A little bit of anything that we are able to do.
So as far as just like the clubis concerned, it's more of a
student interest club thananything.
You know we don't have a shophere at the school or anything.
It's more of kind of a placefor enthusiasts and students who
are into cars to kind of cometogether and bond and, you know,
make friends and stuff likethat.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
It's kind of like the school chess club.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
That's what I was thinking.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
The chess club.

Speaker 6 (06:12):
Chess club on wheels.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
How many members in the club.
How many members in the club?

Speaker 4 (06:18):
Uh, 35 or so, oh my gosh.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
And do y'all help each other out.
If somebody needs a break jobor, uh, you know, a fender dent
taken out, y'all get together soyou don't have a classroom
there at the school, you alljust get together and do your
thing at everybody else'sgarages.

Speaker 4 (06:35):
Yeah, we meet in my classroom after school some, you
know, on Mondays and stuff tokind of talk and hang out for a
little bit.
And then on the weekends andthings, some of the members get
together.
And I know uh, last last yearbefore the summer I had a member
uh throw a 660 cam at his uh LT1 Camaro and uh came to the,

(06:57):
came to the meeting the next dayand made some, made some noise
in the parking lot, yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
Yeah, that they have to call the police or what.

Speaker 4 (07:05):
No, we're on, we're on.
Uh, we're on good terms withthe CISD police.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
Oh, that's good.
Yeah, I'm glad to hear that.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Well, the good thing is is you guys get a chance to
funnel that enthusiasm for carsin a bit of a controlled
environment Positive way, youknow, because you know.
You know, when I was a kid myenthusiasm for cars really was
was very positive and I didn'thave a good relationship though
I had a constant relationshipwith the police.
It wasn't a good one.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
And ours, our version of a car club, was see who
could do the burnout withoutgetting caught in the parking
lot.

Speaker 4 (07:38):
Right, that was our version.
Yeah, yeah, that's a bigpositive for the club too, I
think, because it's, you know,I've for.
You know, without giving toomuch away, I you know it was
into some aspects of thecommunity as a teenager as well
that maybe weren't so positive.

Speaker 6 (07:53):
What a diplomatic way of putting it.
Yeah, that's a school teachersversion right here.

Speaker 4 (07:58):
Well, you know, and this is, it's a really cool
thing for to be able to providethis sort of outlet for young
enthusiasts, you know, in a morepositive way, you know, doing
cars and coffee types of eventsinstead of doing takeovers.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
So tell us about the event you have coming up.

Speaker 4 (08:14):
So next weekend, on Saturday September 16, right
here at the Woodlands HighSchool, we're going to host our
first cars and coffee of theyear.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
Wonderful Of the school year that is that's going
to be at the Woodlands HighSchool.

Speaker 4 (08:27):
Correct.
This one is at the WoodlandsHigh School.
It'll be in the 1000s park anda lot will have signs up and
everything.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
Are you getting any support from the dealerships in
your area?

Speaker 4 (08:36):
So for our school events we don't usually we've
reached out to a couple ofspeciality dealerships that
bring a little bit of theirstock.
Last April was that April Last, the big maybe?
Yeah, april of last year we hada district wide event, a huge
event that we hosted at theWoodlands Bank Football Stadium,

(08:56):
and then we've got this samesort of event coming up on
October 21st.
Gullo brings out some of theirstuff.
Gullo Ford brings out some oftheir stock.
We post oak motors, which islike an exotic car dealership.
They're going to bring out someof their stock as well.
So we do get some support fromthe community and from people in
the industry around here.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
Very good.
So what was I was going to sayfor Braden?
What's your plan to get intothe automotive industry?
What are your goals in this?

Speaker 5 (09:23):
I mean, as of now, really just have fun.
You know it's.
It was hard trying to findlike-minded people.
I'm new to the Texas area.
I was a freshman out of twoyears ago now and I was really.
I was new and I didn't knowmany people that were, you know,

(09:45):
into the car I guess seen.
So joining the club was reallyjust to meet like-minded people
that I could hang out with inthe out of school.
And you know, for the future Iwould say I'm not quite sure yet
but I'd say I do want to gointo something, maybe in the

(10:07):
automotive engineering field.
I like taking stuff apart andputting it back together, seeing
how things work.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
I think all car guys do.

Speaker 5 (10:19):
I think that would be my dream to be able to design
or just something, anythingreally in the automotive field.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
You're a junior.
You've got a whole big dooropen in front of you, so I'm
sure you'll do fine.

Speaker 6 (10:33):
Regardless of which way you go you could be a
dentist and still be a car guy.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
Just to give you a little insight.
I went through the same thingin high school with a big
interest in cars.
I ended up 25 years as a fieldengineer with General Motors,
ten years of that assigned tothe Bowling Green Assembly Plant
.
So working on Corvettes was alot of fun.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
It was either that or going into law enforcement.

Speaker 2 (10:57):
Well, law enforcement placing me someplace.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
Yeah, that's right.
I'm really excited about thisand I'm excited about having a
connection with you guys.
We're happy Because we canfollow you and we can be.
You know, if we can't be thereat the event, at least we can be
there in spirit.

(11:21):
Absolutely we can do that.
And the other thing is I thinkwould be really cool is for any
videos that you guys shoot, besure and get them to us so we
can post them on the InwheelTime car talk show site.

Speaker 4 (11:34):
That'd be great.
Yeah, we'd be absolutely morethan happy to.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
I have to ask you, Andrew, did they call you Mr
Rogers?

Speaker 4 (11:42):
They do, and at the beginning of the school year I
will.
I don't say it so much anymore, but I used to always say and,
in case you're wondering, it isa beautiful day in my
neighborhood.
So few of the kids get thatreference anymore.
I kind of let it falter.

Speaker 6 (11:57):
Yeah, it's like we have a guest later on and when I
was talking to him I said youknow it's the new car season.
He knew what I was talkingabout.
He's our age, but a bunch ofpeople are going to know what
the new car season is because itjust there is no new car season
anymore.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
It's old school because it's used to September,
october, and all the dealershipswould bring out all their brand
new iron and everybody would go.

Speaker 6 (12:20):
Oh yeah, Big reveals in the showroom and all that
good stuff.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
So listen, Braden, are you going to be running for
president?

Speaker 5 (12:27):
Yeah, so our president is a senior this year,
so next year he's going to begoing off to college and I think
I got a pretty good shot to bepresident next year.

Speaker 6 (12:39):
So that was one thing I was wondering about.
So you graduate, so this is ahigh school group and it you
graduate, you're out.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
Well, you're like the chess club.

Speaker 6 (12:49):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I guess so.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
And I use the chat and I just use it as an example.
But I mean there are all sortsof clubs within the school.
I assume that there still are.

Speaker 4 (13:01):
They still are.
Yeah, we've got a chess clubtoo.

Speaker 6 (13:03):
I'd like to think we're cooler than chess club,
but I think you are yes, youhave a cooler logo than what the
chess club has, that's for sure.

Speaker 4 (13:10):
I agree so.

Speaker 3 (13:14):
Oh trophy, Look at that.

Speaker 4 (13:15):
So this time, if you guys can quite see it, but our
president made this last yearout of some wrenches and some
pistons that came out of hismeada, you know in the shape of
the W for the woodlands, andthen we kind of made that.
As for our shirt logo as well, but this is he's real proud of
this and the yeah, we take it toour car shows and everything
and it's a pretty cool bit ofkit.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
Well see, not only do you have the cars, but you've
got the talents to do thewelding and the design and the
oh yeah work of that.

Speaker 2 (13:45):
And it's a dual wrench kit because it does both
metric and.
English.

Speaker 6 (13:49):
There you go.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
Fully adjustable.

Speaker 6 (13:52):
So your event is coming up, your coffee and cars
coming up next weekend.
How, how got an idea how manycars you might show up?

Speaker 4 (13:59):
with our events at the school.
Yeah, right around 100 or socars will tip the show.

Speaker 1 (14:04):
Is it open to the public?
I mean, can I bring theCorvette up there?

Speaker 4 (14:08):
We would love that.
We'll put a special spot up foryou, if you want.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
Oh no, do you have a?
Do you have it posted anywhere?

Speaker 4 (14:16):
We've got it posted on our Instagram page, which is
at AE underscore TWHS.
We have the AutomotiveEnthusiast Club of the Woodlands
High School page on Facebook aswell.
Those are primary outlets forsocial media where we kind of
get the word out and stuff.
But yeah, it is fully open, free event, open to everybody in

(14:37):
the community, anybody whowants to show up to bring a car.
We have free coffee and donutsfor as long as they last.

Speaker 1 (14:45):
Who's supplying the coffee and donuts?

Speaker 4 (14:47):
So part of our club members got to pay dues and
stuff so we can be able to hostthese events, and then I'll go
out to get some Chick-fil-Acoffee and some H-E-B donuts.

Speaker 3 (14:56):
Very good.
This is good stuff because he'shelping mold and form the
future technicians and designersof the automobiles.

Speaker 6 (15:06):
Yeah, because for the rest of their life they can go
to cruise-ins just about everyplace or some sort of cruise-in.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
You can come to some of ours that we host in a part
of Okay so here's the nextquestion Could you ever get
together and bring a bus load ofthe members and visit another
cruise-in or car show orsomething?

Speaker 4 (15:24):
I think we could organize something out like that
.
Yeah, I think that sounds great.
The kids have been actuallybugging me about wanting to do
some sort of field trip typesituation.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
Well, we have a couple in mind.
One is tailpipes and tacoswe're still waiting on a date
from Stan on that and the otherone that comes to mind is
getting the special treatmentfor Houston Autorama that's
coming up Thanksgiving.

Speaker 6 (15:47):
And if we can't pull that off, I'll bet we could pull
off the new car show in January.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
Or the new car show in January.
See, carl was last week.
You had no clue what you weregetting yourself into with us.
Now all we need to do is callwhoever the president of the
Conroe Independent SchoolDistrict is and say these kids
need to have a bus over there Atsuch and such a time.
We're going to have a fieldtrip, so you guys have to get

(16:13):
the release forms and all thatPermission slips.

Speaker 4 (16:15):
Yeah, I'll tell you so.
The superintendent for ConroeIC, dr Curtis Knowle, is really
closely involved with the club.
Actually, he's a car guyhimself.
He's got a Foxbody Mustang it'sa bit of a track car and then
he's got a fully restored 65Mustang as well.

Speaker 6 (16:29):
We'll let him sit in the front seat.

Speaker 1 (16:31):
Yeah, that's right, yeah Well, all of the cool kids
want to sit the back of the bus.

Speaker 6 (16:37):
That's why you put the boss up in the front.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
I wasn't allowed in the bus.

Speaker 1 (16:43):
Well, this sounds like tons of fun.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
I'll try and get your meat posted on a couple other
social media sites here that arein Houston that get a lot of
action.
There's a huge community in theConroe area of people that are
very active, whether it's coffeeand cars for a cause or some of
the other stuff that happens.

Speaker 6 (17:03):
Yeah, conroe cruisers are constantly in this stuff,
we'll chase.

Speaker 2 (17:06):
Randy Weldon on that.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
It's not too far from where you live, though, is it
no?
Okay, there you go.

Speaker 4 (17:12):
We've got some good members that come in some
regulars.
The Conroe cruisers areactually a pretty good supporter
of us.
They show up in force for ahandful of our meets.
In fact, one of their membersactually works as a coworker of
mine, works at school and shedailies a 68 GTO.
Wow, Wow.

Speaker 1 (17:26):
I'm liking it.
We got the car connection up inthe Woodlands.
There you go.
It's a beautiful thing.
Well, andrew and Braden, it'sgreat to have you guys on the
air with us today, and we wishyou the best of luck, and we
hope that you'll check in withus and let us know how things
are going next Saturday and, besure, and supply us with some
video too.
Okay, and now Braden is acelebrity in school.

(17:47):
Yeah, now he's a big hit inschool and everybody knows him.
He's kind of like the lead inthe school play.

Speaker 6 (17:53):
But I'll give one piece of advice Don't charge
your friends for autographs.
Just go ahead and sign it andsmile and go on.
That's it.

Speaker 3 (18:01):
Kiss babies and shake hands.

Speaker 1 (18:03):
Well, Mr Rogers.
Thank you so much for joiningus today.
Braden Smith, it's great tohave you guys on, and best of
luck next week and again, stayin touch with us and let us know
what's happening.

Speaker 2 (18:13):
And we hope you have a beautiful day in the
neighborhood there you goPerfect.

Speaker 1 (18:18):
Yeah, I'll say yeah, thank you.
That was a good close, that'sgood.
All right, I have news.
You do, I knew, yes, I do.
We're going to start thissegment of the news with recalls
.

Speaker 2 (18:32):
It's always good, I did those last week, yeah, but
they're releasing new ones everyday, every day.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
Bentley Bentega.
I know that a lot of ourviewers and listeners and
followers have those 2017through 2023.
The fuel supply module mayoverheat and melt the flange.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
That's not a good thing for your family event and
apparently Stan, go get yourtruck there's flanges when they
catch fire.

Speaker 1 (18:59):
Just truck emergency release may fail.
For those of you that aretrying to smuggle people across
the border, or trying to, youknow, use them for the Jimmy
Hoffa switch.
That's it on the Kia OptimaOptima hybrid and Optima PHEV
and the Kia Rio 2016 through2018.
Left rear axle shaft may breakin the Ford F 250 and 350 only

(19:27):
only once, and that's it.
Yeah, blop, blop, blop, blop, blop, blop.

Speaker 3 (19:31):
That's a big truck.

Speaker 1 (19:33):
Front right headlights too bright on the
Ford edge for 2023.
Now, how do you do that?
It's too bright.
Hey, turn that thing down.
You'll wake it up theneighborhood Damage turbocharger
oil supply line on the FordExplorer for 2023.

Speaker 2 (19:50):
That's not good.

Speaker 1 (19:52):
No Pop.
Oh, what's that?
Oh, there goes all the oil, popgoes the turbo, that's it.
Okay, some stories making newsheadlines.
Now Ram's high performance 1500TRX will go out of production
at the end of this year.
It features the 702 horsepower,650 pound feet of torque and

(20:16):
zero to 60 time Record of 4.5seconds for a truck.
The truck cost 100 and 19,620dollars with shipping.
Come on down, I Guess they soldeveryone that they made, no
doubt.

Speaker 6 (20:30):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (20:31):
Wow I.

Speaker 6 (20:32):
Don't know what them youtubers are gonna do, you know
, if they don't have that totear up.

Speaker 1 (20:35):
Yeah, okay.
The nation's top auto safetyregulator on Tuesday said it is
determined 52 million airbaginflators made by a company
called a RC automotive andDelphi I think they're a former
general motor.
GM, former GM company, aredefective and should be recalled

(20:57):
.
They haven't recalled them yet.
The agency's initial decisionaffects about 41 million driver
and passenger Inflators made byARC from 2000 to January 2018
and about 11 million driverinflators made by auto.
Live acquired Delphi under alicensing agreement with a RC.

(21:21):
The inflators are installed invehicles manufactured by 12
automakers, including Ford, gm,stalantis, hyundai, tesla and
Toyota can.

Speaker 3 (21:32):
I say something on that.
Can't you got a letter fromFord Asking for volunteers to
bring the cars in so they couldlook at their airbags and
replace them for future R&D?
Another words, you got adefective airbag.

Speaker 2 (21:46):
Oh, yeah, but it loaded it, so where it's a
voluntary, and you know what wasbad Delphi said here hold my
beer, watch this.

Speaker 3 (21:55):
There's a little bit of I don't know deceptions,
sneakeries, but but, but.

Speaker 2 (22:00):
But again, there is a reason for them to try and take
.
You know, you said Kathy's caris ten years old, right?
So there's a reason for them totry and collect a sample of
those older vehicles so they cananalyze them To see what's
going on.
And I understand that legit.

Speaker 6 (22:16):
All right.

Speaker 3 (22:16):
Why do it in such a format?
We're saying, well, you know,it's like Soft pedaling it to
say they want they just theydon't, they don't the liability.

Speaker 6 (22:25):
That's lawyer talk.
They don't want to sit thereand say you got a bad airbag.

Speaker 1 (22:28):
I sure would hate to be the technician that has to do
that job.

Speaker 3 (22:32):
Oh here stand back.
Last, when I was with AutoNation running the service
department, we had a technicianthat set one off.
He was underneath the dash andit blew and it was like a bomb
went off and he, you know, wasstarly.

Speaker 1 (22:47):
We've seen the videos online about these guys that
play with them.

Speaker 2 (22:51):
Yeah, I fired them off.

Speaker 1 (22:53):
But they have a board on top of it.
Boom shoots them right up thebreak their neck and all that.

Speaker 2 (22:58):
Yeah, I fired them off because back in the back in
the day is, you were not allowedwhen you replaced them under
warranty.
Gm would ask for them back, butyou weren't allowed to send
them back hot, you had to deploythem to send them, disable them
.
Yeah, so we'd set the pop themwith a nine-volt battery, two
wires and a nine-volt back Boop,you know.

(23:19):
But you always wanted to makesure the bag was up and not down
, because if the bag was down itshoot a hundred feet in the air
.
So yeah, I popped them quite afew times.

Speaker 3 (23:29):
Save them all for Fourth of July and set them off.

Speaker 2 (23:31):
There you go, actually, I did some for the
Fire Department heavy rescuetraining that goes on out in
Katie and Early on.
When airbags first came out, Igathered a few of them up from
the area and went out there andand blew them off indoors.
But I knew I was okay because Ihad the fire chief was there in

(23:53):
the in the room with us andthey wanted to see what to
expect of an airbag because theythey were worried about.
You know, when you startcutting a car up, could we
deploy one?
I said, oh, absolutely, youcould.
Said first thing you need to dois cut the battery cables out
and then wait about 15 seconds.
All of the capacitors weredischarged and so, you know, we
popped a couple of them indoorsfor them.

(24:14):
Pretty interesting, prettyinteresting.
It's not hard to do.

Speaker 1 (24:17):
But you know a Global shortage of technicians and
independent repair shopsqualified to fix EVs threatens
to increase repair and warrantycosts for drivers, potentially
Undermining upcoming deadlinesto cut vehicle curb and evade
emissions.
From Melonda, melbourne, toMalibu, technician training

(24:39):
Organizations, warrantyproviders and repairers say that
independent repair shops willbe vital for making EVs
affordable Because they are farcheaper than Franchise dealers.
In the US, the world's numbertwo auto market after China, ev
sales grown.
A growth has trailed Europe's,but the Bureau of Labor
Statistics predicts around80,000 electrician jobs will be

(25:04):
needed annually through 2031,including technicians to fix EVs
or installed EV Chargers.
And I'm gonna save, I'm gonnasave the UAW talk.
Not I'm gonna, I'm gonna dothat.
Another segment, because it'sgonna be huge and the deadline

(25:25):
draws near.
In September, the 12th is it,and it looks like, at least
right now, that the big three inDetroit are gonna go on strike,
Yep and it's.
It's gonna be bad if thathappens.
So buy your new car now, because there may not wait, be
one later because then the Bidenadministration says we're gonna
keep our Hands off of this, atleast for now.

(25:47):
You guys work it out.
That's what they say.
That's what I heard on theradio yesterday.
So that's all.
That's all I have that is all.
