Indigenous women make up only 4% of Canada's population but are four times more likely to be murdered or go missing. This means that even by the most conservative estimates, half of all women murdered are indigenous. It is a tragedy striking Canada and the United States at an alarming rate.
In 2014, a 15-year-old Indigenous girl named Tina Fontaine was found murdered and dumped in the Red River in Winnipeg, Canada. Her murder sparked a call for justice and lengthy investigation, ultimately resulting in an arrest and charges against the person that most are certain committed the heinous crime. Was the trial a success for the prosecution, ending in the conviction of the accused? We're gonna creep it real...let's talk about it.
