Speaker 1 (00:12):
Welcome to hour. I was thirty sixty Rugby League from
every angle, brought to you by Ford Everest joining me
the Great Gordon. Today let's been a jonat Australian James
Hooper and Brent Reid. Let's address yellow fan in the
room here. Now you're saying that Brent Reed's a part
time but what queens Landing supporter.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
I just realized with the whole build up, the state
of origin, that we're outnumbered, and we're desperately outnumbered. And
I was talking about queens and the chief writer for
the career mal he's in New South Welshman he's from
a rever Ben Dobbin, the Channel nine guy, he's from
New South Wales. And they brought up Riddy's name and
I said, he's a part time Queenslanders.

Speaker 3 (00:48):
How often I sat in this very seat, that's very
desk and defended Queensland. Stuck Gordio. I heard that was
in sold the boy to be honest. What I was, yeah,
because you know my Queens. Let's believe marine man from Good.
Now you don't getting more Queens than the Good.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
That's probably the hard time prep talk that you needed,
really blue shirt like the Marine shirt. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
Really, so you're in the Northern Beaches driving your tesla.
You didn't have an accident an okay, okay, up.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
I thought you might have been on radio together.

Speaker 4 (01:22):
Mate.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
I thought this time of year we're going to stick together.
They're trying to divide us in Hope. So you've divided
us now, No, I haven't divided.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
Do you think there's no support for Queensland journals? No,
Well we're lacking journalists.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
So there's crash Kraatic and he's mainly a cricket rider,
and there's Ready. So we've only got two and it's.

Speaker 5 (01:41):
Queenslander.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
Well in the paper Wonder he tipped New South Wales,
So that's what I'm talking.

Speaker 6 (01:45):
I've never but Gorgias. People will never dip against it.

Speaker 7 (01:56):
There's plenty of other people who work in the media
who are from Queensland as well. Some of the biggest
figures in the game of on Sampson Melbourne Ingo Cooper Crawl.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
I said, journalists. There's I'm talking about journalists.

Speaker 5 (02:07):
Do you think.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
X players are fine? Okay, ex players, we just we're
just out numbers with journalists. You see Dog coming on
Bullfrog yourself, Buzz. There's Ricky car.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
Go on to the other side.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
Yeah, you're happen to come on three I'm happy to
come on three nights a week.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
That's what I'm talking about. Really, you start to eat
your own here, boys, it's not very good sport. He
kicked it. It's just a pep talk. He's on our side.
Let's get to the big news, the footing.

Speaker 5 (02:38):
Now.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Mitch Maes has ruled out Jerome Lewi has moved into
the team. It happened after in all three sixty last week.
Is this the right decision? I think it's the only decision. Broke.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
I think you know Jerome was the obvious guy, so
he obviously beat was there last year, was unlucky to
miss out one for the team Froude, and one knows
Nathan plays with all those penrith guys. I don't think
there was any other choice.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
He was the the.

Speaker 7 (03:01):
It's a no brainer. But at the same time, I
do think that New South Wales lose a little bit.
I thought in the opening game of the series where
Mitch was great was when Nathan didn't have comployed control
of the game earlier and Mitch started running the football
and presented a real threat His kicking game is the
best kicking game, hands down in the competition. They're different
styles of five eight Broath, you'd know that.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
I think the next number six they gained. Well, we've
got cohesion with the combination there, the Pendeth combination, you
know Edwards, Lewi and Cleary. We know that, and they've
had a successful combination. He kind of had to because Louis,
like ready said, was very unlucky, not if you actually
peel it all back, very unlucky not to make it
in the first place. I mean, he almost won them

(03:45):
this series. His combination with Moses, especially game threw up
at sun Corpse Stadium. They lose that long kicking game,
which was great in game one and probably went under
the radar a little bit, like they would not had
no problem getting out of their own end because they
had both Cleary and Moses. Lou Is still a great kickout,
very good short kicking game, very unpredictable, can create something

(04:06):
out and nothing, which in Game one they didn't create
too many opportunities. So he adds value in that department.
So yeah, I think it's a really good decision. Matt Burton.
I feel sorry for you know, like I feel sorry
for because he deserves especially after last week's performance.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
But do we need to change the rules like if
you're not in the top twenty or does that ruin
because you're the best players, don't.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
You have enough pressure on the rules will change? But Gordy,
I think you said something between when you were bagging
me and woods He. I think a radio on the weekend.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
Okay, we address that can get you fired back at
woods He because they.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Went back home right after show on Wednesday in Queensland.
They were filthy that he had a crack in our coach.
I thought got a bit of stick up for him.
So that's what I thought, Really, are you on my side?
Are you in the trenches with us?

Speaker 1 (04:50):
That's Cordy agreed with him comments about I think he
was having a bit of fun.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
I don't mind what woulds you did, Billy. Billy is
welcome and fire back, woulds He? I would love Billy
to fire back at Woodsy, But I'm happy to fire
back on Billy's behalf as you were, Gordy.

Speaker 5 (05:06):
But I think.

Speaker 8 (05:09):
You did well.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
Where was I going to fly back?

Speaker 5 (05:13):
You're on a hundred platforms.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
I didn't stick up for Billy in the paper on Saturday.
I was going to say, Gordy, as I said in
between between bagging man Woodsi, I think you raised the
point in the weekends said what they lose with Mitch
now is the Queens Queensland defenders can focus on Nathan
Cleary with his kicking game, right, they don't have to
worry about Mitch Moses kicking game.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
You really only one kick dominantly, but he's a left
foot kicker.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
So like there's a there's sort of like a positive positive,
there's no real negative getting lu there, but.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
It's just a different well the village for Queens there.
Now they didn't anime up in the in their power
right in game one. If they do aim up now
there is more pressure on the Blues because even though
the Blues aimed up game one and there they're forwards
clearly dominated Queens. Then if they get on the back foot,
he's so hard getting out of your own and ended
with you know, Moses and Cleary was an easy out,
whereas we just now, as you said, the emphasis will

(06:05):
be on Clearing, it'll be more kick pressure on Cleary,
but they can still use Loui and he's no mark.
He's got a really good kicking game. But you're right,
there is more focus on that now. Gus believes that
Billy may start with Kurt Man and bring Harry off
the bench. What do you guys think the.

Speaker 5 (06:23):
Part time.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
Codd is the man to do that job. He's played hooker, Okay,
I think that. I think I don't think Harry will
start the game. I think that the record, I think
we've shanned it a couple of times now, the record
with Harry coming off the bench, I think that it's
a lot better than when Harry start. Think that the
record with Harry starts is going for Here's Ruben Cotter,

(06:47):
one of the great hookers from way back when, and
I think Reuben's named on edge. I don't think Reuben
will start the edge. I think Nana will start in
the edge. Caught her into hooker, and I think that's
a much so.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
You still have.

Speaker 8 (07:00):
Just got around.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
I think it's an option you'd start with kind of
more so than me, and I think I think so.

Speaker 5 (07:05):
I think what about Gus. Gus is very well says
he's well connected in the game.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Do you think he's ring his bulldogs players say good luck,
enjoy the camp maybe or as a stir in the
pot most successful coach.

Speaker 3 (07:21):
I would suspect he's more trying to stir the pot
hoops and that's what he does.

Speaker 7 (07:25):
He loves doing this time, were you ring Billy and
tell him that you've got the blueprint for Reuben Cotter and.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
Billy watches the show?

Speaker 8 (07:32):
Now, I'll said it enough.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
Another big question for Queensland is will they kick off
to Spenceerllen.

Speaker 8 (07:38):
You well, I wouldn't know.

Speaker 5 (07:41):
I wouldn't kick Twin.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
You're staying strong with that.

Speaker 3 (07:43):
Because I think we're under his skin now you're having
a bad show.

Speaker 5 (07:47):
Now, how can you keep.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
Us that's what he wants undecided? Well, don't give him
what he wants because he wants us to kick twin.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
Don't kick? What about what Queensland wants?

Speaker 8 (07:59):
Do you ever that one smash blew up with you
when you're on the side recalling the history In.

Speaker 7 (08:04):
The history of the game, I actually cannot recall a
team deliberately avoiding kicking to a front roll.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
I'm sure it's.

Speaker 5 (08:12):
When in Origin starts.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
You're talking about starters now from the parts on queens
And I'm going to have to should they kick off
this Spensylania. Yeah, I think so it all depends. No, No,
it all depends where we are in the game both
you know. I mean like when.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
Spudan Chief and like all the agents, but they were
on the field for forty five minutes together or whatever.
So it all depends how we're going if we're in
a level pegging or if we're up on a school
board and he comes on.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
Absolutely what it's the difference in this because we.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
Were under the pump, like watching it live, we were
actually under the pump. We were get now played and
it's like we were holding on just by the skin
of our teeth. So if you're on the game, you're
not kicking the win. Why I can change. I played
with Wendall Sailor. No one kick to him as a player.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
I never one kicks to the strong ball carriers in
trust me. But it's in generally kick you kick to
the best.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
It's all statement, but it's not. It's not the like,
if we need to make a statement, we will. I
didn't think it was I didn't think it was that
big life. I thought this is funny, so I wanted
to watch it, and then when we didn't, I actually
thought that's cool, right, because then he just blew up
and he run and he had to run an extra
twenty five minutes. I didn't think it was as big
as what was made out. But if it is, and
they wanted, I reckon, we.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
Kick off to it. But as who's on and all
the big boys are on, I.

Speaker 5 (09:32):
Reckon, we go on with God.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
It depends on the context of the game. Probably, yeah,
I think Queensin's got the upper hand. Why would you
boy the kicking to him? But if you need some
lift during that game, or someone to inspire, maybe you
kick it to him rundown smashing assage as you can
and maybe they can't.

Speaker 5 (09:46):
You send a message and maybe at the time deliberately
try to.

Speaker 3 (09:51):
Maybe you don't need to know it's maybe winning him.
You don't need to send a message already on top
it is a negative kick reckon.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
Yes, all right, let's lie now, it's a blues utility.
Connor Watson on the Goo, True Blue, Mike Connor, thanks
to coming on the show. You've arrived in Perth. It's
only two nights away. Now, how have you guys settled in?

Speaker 4 (10:14):
Hey, baith, Yeah, it's been good. It's been a good
couple of days in Perth so far. Had a probably
our biggest training session today, so the boys went well
trained against a sort of combined WA Rep side as
well as some.

Speaker 8 (10:26):
Of the Force boys say it was a good session.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
Yeah, last week big news with Mitch Moses been ruled out.
Jerome Luhite comes in. How has Jerome settled in and
how's the team going with him? At five eight?

Speaker 4 (10:39):
Yeah, you know, Jerome, he hasn't missed the beat mate.
As soon as he come in he was so sharp
and I was like, you know, everyone sort of knows
what they're going to get from him. He's done it
at this level for a very long time. And you know,
it's disappointing to lose Mitch, but to have to be
in a position where we can get a guy like
Jerome to come in, it's very fortunate. And yeah he's
come back in and yeah, his energy and you know

(11:01):
all the chat that he brings, it's been good to
have back in camp.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
Hey Connor, mate, you're in a star started side. Has
anybody really impressed you? Is there someone in the camp
that you've looked at and have surprised you?

Speaker 3 (11:14):
Hey?

Speaker 4 (11:14):
Mate?

Speaker 8 (11:16):
Yeah, I mean like just being in this camp.

Speaker 4 (11:18):
I remember last year coming in and just seeing the
way that different guys approach the game, you know, even
just training their attitude because big part of the week,
as you know, Gordy is like you only get ten
days and then you've got to go out and play
with these guys that some of them you haven't played
with before.

Speaker 8 (11:33):
So the big part of his connection and for some
of those guys to just you know, have so.

Speaker 4 (11:37):
Much fun away from the field, but then as soon
as they get to training, Yeah, they just completely change
their personality and just totally lock in. And you know,
I just spoke about Jerome like he's a big guy
who does that bis our creator. All these guys that
are very you know, sort of loud and great energy
to be around as teammates, but then as soon as
they get onto the training field, they really just flick
a switch. But I mean, I'll be impressed impressed by

(11:58):
all the guys. You know, there's a great work ethic here.

Speaker 8 (12:00):
It's been good.

Speaker 4 (12:00):
Like Nathan didn't play last year, get to play with
him in game one and sort of see how he
prepares because we all know what he's done in the game,
and you can you can see through his preparation.

Speaker 8 (12:09):
Whey, he's such an elite player.

Speaker 5 (12:11):
Connor. It's James Hooper.

Speaker 7 (12:12):
We were just talking before you came on the show
about whether the Marines will kick off to Spencer Lenu
or not. How Spencer been in camp and do you
think that Coinsland will kick it to the big fellow?

Speaker 8 (12:26):
Hey, James, I'm I'm not too sure if they'll kick
to him or not.

Speaker 5 (12:29):
Mate.

Speaker 4 (12:31):
Yeah, Spencer's been great. He's like, I'm lucky enough I
get to play with him at the Roosters every week,
and I know what's such like what he brings so
much energy to the game. We all saw sort of
Round one like him running out Game one, so running
down the sideline, and I'm just lucky nowadays that I
don't have to tackle him anymore, because I remember when
I versed him at penrifies to just think this guy

(12:52):
is the hardest bloke ever to tackle. So lucky he's
on my team. And whether they kick to him or not,
I don't really know, but I know Spence will be
doing doing his best. And if I don't kick to him,
I'm sure we were there Play two.

Speaker 8 (13:04):
Or three running and it's Adams.

Speaker 3 (13:06):
Yeah, Hey, Connor, Brent Reid, you're obviously in Perth bigging
out announcement with Perth coming to the Conferent a couple
of years. What's the vibe like over there? What's the
feeld like?

Speaker 4 (13:17):
Hey? Ready, Yeah, it's been good mate, Like we sort
of haven't got out and been able to do too much, like,
but we went to the HbF Park I think it
was today and trained and it's a great facility there.

Speaker 8 (13:30):
I'm not sure if.

Speaker 4 (13:30):
That's where the Perth Bears will play out of, but
we played there last year for the Roosters against the
Dolphins and it was a great atmosphere.

Speaker 8 (13:37):
I'm pretty sure it was sold out and I can
just remember like how good the deck was there. So
they're certainly going to have a great place.

Speaker 4 (13:43):
To play football as far as that, like, we'll get
out to Optus tomorrow see what that's like, and then
I'm sure over the next couple of days there will
be a bit more of an atmosphere building in Perth.

Speaker 8 (13:52):
But at the moment it's been pretty chilled.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
Hey Connor, just the local boys that you did the
scrimmage again, what was that quality?

Speaker 1 (13:59):
Like the much talent there? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (14:03):
Yeah, see, I think it was like a local first
grade rep team plus you know a few of those
Force Academy guys.

Speaker 8 (14:10):
But yeah, they were good matey.

Speaker 4 (14:12):
I was talking to them after they played an interstate
comp I think maybe against Northern Territory, South Australia and
Victoria last week, so those guys actually won that, so yeah,
they are a good quality mate And then having those
Perth got the Force guys as well come in or
it helped, you know, just having those guys that are
in a professional environment just sort of a few more
of the wingers and I think one of their halfbacks

(14:34):
jumped in and played hooker for him. So we got
what we needed to out of the session made. And yeah,
just looking forward to Wednesday now. Well kind of thanks
for joining us. You're looking as beautiful as always, and
good luck on Wednesday night getting that series win. Thank
you Brath there is I can't see you, but I'm
sure you're looking beautiful too, mate.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
We have plenty to prove. After your State of Origin dumping,
all eyes were on DC has mainly looked for an
easy win over the Titans, but old Daisy Hasla flipped
the script and sent the Seagulls crashing back to earth.

Speaker 8 (15:09):
There is fresh on both teams.

Speaker 4 (15:10):
Nine manly Seagulls at the start of this season looks
like they were shooting for the top four and they
need to bounce back.

Speaker 8 (15:16):
What's DC you do tonight?

Speaker 1 (15:18):
I think he take number.

Speaker 4 (15:20):
Three and Garrick will ever cracked.

Speaker 8 (15:22):
I'm would have Scott to me say quick cool.

Speaker 2 (15:25):
Don't defends demon camp stevens on for Jimmy Evans.

Speaker 8 (15:30):
Opportunity knocks Kembrick for a second and thus pass. Kevin
Raps knocks down the front door. Lets that with Tampa.
Let's Titans play.

Speaker 4 (15:44):
Major of Sam Walker said, that's his belief that the
resters have gone cold on signing for next year.

Speaker 1 (15:49):
You are able to give us a comment, No, I'm not.

Speaker 5 (15:51):
I don't sort of understand that stuff. Be silly for
me to be worrying about stuff like that.

Speaker 8 (15:56):
For it, color Ball, candle in and away, a lot
of Scott's Gold Coast in a hell of a turnaround
for the times they have turned up at thought time.
It's a big win of the Gold Coast, a.

Speaker 1 (16:12):
Very own bullfrog. Richie's all over it with a Daly
Telegraph and he's written this story. Seagulls home crisis talks
in response to growing fan outrage, hoops, what's going on here?

Speaker 7 (16:23):
That it's the bullfrog is on the money, he is
and Dogg is very well tapped in on the Northern Beaches.
He's been up there for a long time. And there
are a lot of issues. There is a hell of
a lot going on at the Manly Seagulls at the moment.
So the daily Cherry Evans decision earlier in the year
has not sat well with Jake Traboyovich. I don't think
those two are ever going to go for a beer

(16:44):
or spend a lot of time together in the future.
You've got Anthony sebald as the head coach, and some
rumblings that his style nothing personal, but just the way
that he presents the tactical periodization, the spreadsheets, all of
that thing for what the game plans that they're devising,
that there's some holes in those and that some of

(17:05):
the players aren't entirely invested in all of that. And
then you've got Jake as well, who is off contract
at the end of twenty six, who's getting closer to
the end that he is to the start.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
So there's a lot going on, really So have you
heard this friction there because they are the most inconsistent
team this year by by a long one. I mean
between the players, both, yes, or just even players and
coaching stuff, whatever it may be, because management, it doesn't
seem right the way they're performing given the roster they've got.

Speaker 3 (17:34):
Well, there's no doubt that's friction there. I think we
all saw Jake's reaction after Daly came out and announced
to us leaving at the end of the year. I
think you tell from that there was friction there. And
they've never been particularly close to those guys. I mean,
Tommy and Jake and Daly, they've got they've had a
good working relationship, but I wouldn't say they're great mates
off the field. I think that's well known. So you
know that certainly strained the relationship. And I think we've

(17:55):
seen since Daily made that announcement, the team has struggled,
and Daily struggled himself. So I don't think there's any
doubt that's been an issue. Broth Hoops mentioned concerns with
Sieves and some players that those rumors have been around
for a while.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (18:10):
My gut feeling is they're a little bit overblown. I
don't think again, I think I don't think they are.

Speaker 7 (18:15):
I think I'm not saying it's the majority of the group,
but I'm saying I've spoke to enough people today. I've
spoke to enough people well, of course the last couple
of months. I think there is something.

Speaker 3 (18:25):
I think the bigger issues on the field the relationship
and the way they are on the field. I think
that's pretty evident. And Hoops mentioned some of the issues
there and the one he left out was Tommy. And
you know the way Tommy's going at the moment. Obviously
he's had that. I know you dug around this as
well today, Hoops. He's obviously had that cork thigh, which
is a favor well turned I'm told the way it

(18:47):
unfather was he had a cork thigh that turned into
a hamstring tightness. So there was work some concerns around
the hamstring as well. So that's the other issue. Because
he's off the same off contract at the same time
as Jake, obviously they've got to work their way through that.
They're juggling a lot of balls at the moment, mainly
and this they got to buy this week. They've got
two weeks. They've got to sort it out.

Speaker 1 (19:06):
Are they afraid to say it was a hamstrings?

Speaker 5 (19:07):
That with you? Well, I don't know, I for fraid.

Speaker 3 (19:10):
So I think they were trying to protect Tommy because
obviously a lot of the talk around Tommy's hamstrings and injuries.
I think they were trying to do the right thing
by Tommy.

Speaker 7 (19:18):
It was definitely a smother from the club, but it's
been well known for a little while now that it
was all I suspected it was a hamstring. The other issue,
Breath is like the magnitude of the losses the teams
that they're being beaten by the teams down the bottom
of the competition at They've been beaten by the Gold Coast,
beaten by Newcastle after leading sixteen mil and beaten by Paramatta.

(19:38):
That's for a side that was potentially talked about as
a top fourteen at the beginning of the year.

Speaker 5 (19:44):
They need to start winning fast.

Speaker 1 (19:45):
It hasn't been good and we talk about a succession
plan life after Sea by possibly buzz Road. Article on
the weekend mentioned Mick Innes, what's going on here? Do
we have any information on that?

Speaker 3 (19:56):
Look, it seems this contract to landed twenty seven when
they did the extent, I think sebes A sort of
intimated that at the end of that contract he would
look to step away from the head coaching role, and
in the process of those talks, they talked about a
potential succession plan and names were raised. Mix was Mick
was one of the names that was raised. He's got
a great relationship with a lot of the players there.

Speaker 5 (20:19):
They like him.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
So Sea Bulls only got two and a half years
max at the club.

Speaker 3 (20:24):
Well, when they did that extension, that was how he
was looking at the future. Yes, at the end of
twenty I don't want to coach after that.

Speaker 2 (20:31):
I don't think his plan is to keep coaching up
dangerous because normally, like the best coaches in our game
are coaches like they're like life coaches. They want to
like that's their job for the rest of their life.

Speaker 3 (20:43):
I would imagine Seeds told stay involved in the game.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
Good.

Speaker 3 (20:45):
I don't think you'll step away from the game management
or something like well I was talk about I think
buzz Rais that was talking about maybe being a general
manager football or ahead of forty or stepping back in
a role with there's less focus on him because he's
been through a hell of a lot in the last
five six seven years with everything that happened to Brisbane,
and it's been.

Speaker 1 (21:03):
Just on mek Nicko have to become a full time coach.

Speaker 3 (21:07):
That's the concern right the mix. Obviously he's on the
coaching staff there at the moment, but he's not a
full time assistant. And I think that, you know, if
it was to go down this path, you would imagine
Mick would have to become a full time assistant, maybe
maybe next year or the year after, and then that
would bleed into becoming the head coach eventually.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
Well, you'd have to do a really good apprenticeship. You'd
have to get your feet under the desk pretty quick.

Speaker 2 (21:30):
That's that's what I'd be thinking, because you'd want to
learn the most about players and watch the mistakes that
you don't want to make a few clubs but they
consider that enough for all. Yeah, but full time coaching
is not the exercents. Coaching has been around the group
and making sure that everything's right after. That's what I
normally hear from blokes like Wayne and like then. That's

(21:51):
that's the coaching part that makes the good and the bad.

Speaker 1 (21:54):
You mentioned two and a half years now. That's all
good and well, but they're struggling now. Yeah, if you
don't like, the reality is he may not even last
close to that the way they're going. So were they
fast tracked micking.

Speaker 7 (22:04):
To the job or what's the well the thing for
seebs he's got a very tight rapport with Manly CEO
Tony Mestrov. Those two are extremely close, so I think
that guarantees his position. And the fact that they only
saw in that extension what was it October last year?
It was only the back end of last year. I
don't like this agreement. I don't like this arrangement at all.

Speaker 3 (22:25):
I think it's got fun with I don't think it's
a formal arrangement though it's not something that's in writing.
I think it was just spoken about as part of
the negotiations. I haven't spoken to Seeds about whether he's
changed his mind, but I still think that's the path
he wants to go down. But it's not a formal thing.
There's not a formal content that says we're going to
bring on a six. We've got a success or a

(22:45):
succession plan formally outlined.

Speaker 7 (22:49):
Now negotiation, it's out there now it's been spoken about.
I don't know how that's going to sit with the
Plane group because your blokes know, you've been in dressing
rooms if you know that.

Speaker 1 (22:59):
The reality is somebody as a player, but as an
outside looking in. If they continue the way they are,
you're not going to maintain that for two and a
half years. You're not going to keep a coach there
when they're performing the way they are with the squad
They've got for another two and a half years for sure.
And what's the plan.

Speaker 3 (23:13):
Well, I don't think there's a formal plan, as I said,
grdon I think it's an informal discussion. But as it
gets close to the end of twenty seven, if Seeds
are still there, i'd imagine they'll or maybe at the
end of next year or midway through next year, they'll
sit down and work out a formal plan.

Speaker 5 (23:27):
But you're right, you're right, breath.

Speaker 3 (23:29):
I mean, if they keep losing footy games, the plans
this year with that roster record, to we say that
that roster, yeah, three months ago, you go, that's a
great roster, right, But since then, you know, Dai Chairvans
come out and announce he's going to another club and
throw the whole club into upheaval. You've had Tommy's had
injury problems and continue continues to be hampered to an

(23:52):
extent by injuries. That to me says they're two of
your highest paid players and so the rosters. Whilst it
might look great on paper, those issues weren't foreseen before.

Speaker 5 (24:04):
The season started.

Speaker 3 (24:05):
I don't think he'd underestimate the daily chair Eaven's decision
and the influence that's had on that plane group there.

Speaker 7 (24:10):
You spot on with that that that really did pull
the pin out of the hand grenade and explode at
that club, and it's still having reverberations. I think at
the moment you can tell in the way that the
team's performing well.

Speaker 1 (24:22):
Hoops. That's the other elephant in the room tonight is
DCE and that deal at the roosters. Have they got
cold feet and is it going to happen?

Speaker 7 (24:29):
I don't think they've got cold feet. I don't think
there's any contract been signed. I'm certain that there has
been some talks take place, and I think.

Speaker 2 (24:41):
No contract in recent times. So if there's no contract signed,
that means that they don't have to be any more talk.
If they changed their mind.

Speaker 7 (24:51):
Nick moo Otis is a man of integrity and a
man of his word. I think if he has verbally
spoken to Daily and they have done any sort of.

Speaker 1 (24:58):
Deal, he said things have gone quiet. Has it gone
quiet from the Rooster's en or quite from vcs in I.

Speaker 7 (25:04):
Think it might have gone quite from both parties. I'm
not saying I don't think. I'm not reading into that
that that's cooling.

Speaker 5 (25:11):
I don't.

Speaker 7 (25:13):
I think the Roosters got Toby Rodwell underneath Sam Walker
right who will be the star of the future. I
think they think adding Daily cherry Evans into their roster
for one or two years can help educate the crop
of young halves that they have and I and benefit Samore.

Speaker 1 (25:30):
I agree. I think it'd be a good decision. Still,
if it's a one year two year I don't think so.

Speaker 5 (25:37):
What if don't really take it.

Speaker 1 (25:40):
If it's that's the issue We've heard at different stages
it's two years, then it's one year. I think it's
a big difference where Dally is at right now, with
the way that he's not only where he's at in
terms of age, but he's formed. Two years is a
big risk at that money like one year, you get
the benefit of an experienced player who just straight to

(26:00):
the team makes him a premiership threat. He can teach
those young kids and they can learn from him and
he can be their mentor. But two years you're going
to probably lose. Now, that's a long time for him.
So that's that to me. Either makes the deal a
good deal or a bad one is the time that
he signs.

Speaker 5 (26:19):
There with Hoops.

Speaker 3 (26:20):
So I think it's you know, I think obviously there's
been some chat between the Roosters and Nick and Daily
and Nick.

Speaker 1 (26:29):
Hoops is right.

Speaker 3 (26:30):
Nick's a man of his word and principle, and I
don't think.

Speaker 1 (26:34):
Some people backflip on him.

Speaker 3 (26:36):
Look, I think for further, you wouldn't come out and
do what Daily did earlier this year and cause the
drama a cause if you didn't have something locked up
for them, you would not do that.

Speaker 5 (26:49):
It's Daily aware, do you think ready?

Speaker 7 (26:51):
Because he comes across as a good fellow day when
you see him in front of the cameras at some
of the calls he's made over the course of his career,
I don't think he could shake your hand.

Speaker 3 (27:02):
I find it very hard to believe Hoops that he
could have foreseen the damage that announcement would have caused.
I don't know, I don't.

Speaker 5 (27:08):
I terribly advise then, whoever he's got a red, he could.

Speaker 1 (27:12):
Have fixed it from that moment on.

Speaker 2 (27:13):
So when you do make a mistake, he could have
cleaned up a bit of the mess early by coming out,
facing and doing doing the things.

Speaker 1 (27:20):
Of some of the things are a little bit different.
Let's switch focus to the dragon. Shane Flanagin defends Kyle
and says he's not the problem. Is he right?

Speaker 5 (27:31):
Well, Gord to you at a very strong time.

Speaker 1 (27:32):
I just said it'd be really hard coaching your son.
You know.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
I watched Brad Arthur do it with Jake, and then
you watch and then they're struggling and they're kicking games,
Paul and his sons, and when we talk about sides
getting the job done, we talk about the seven and six,
and he's there and the noise is getting louder.

Speaker 3 (27:51):
I don't know why you would come out and do
what I did. Why would you come out and do this?

Speaker 1 (27:55):
Which his son.

Speaker 7 (27:57):
Again, he's got he's got to back his player, and
he would take the fact that he's fact backed.

Speaker 3 (28:02):
Him religiously all year. Hoops what come out again if
you don't need.

Speaker 5 (28:07):
To do it.

Speaker 1 (28:08):
He's pushing, but the noise is getting louder. He's having
to defend the decision.

Speaker 3 (28:14):
What what I don't get is, look, I don't necessarily
think Cole is the issue there. I think Cole's had
a pretty good year, to be fair to him. But
Flannel six or six weeks ago he Droppedlachlan ili is
right and he said, go back to your first grade.
He said publicly he's a first grade half back. Go
back to mister Wild's Cup, get your confidence back, show
what you can do. You'll be back in first grade.

Speaker 5 (28:35):
Eventually.

Speaker 3 (28:36):
They've won six in a row, all right, since he's
gone back to reserve grade. The first grade team in
his absence, they've won two of six. When he was there,
they won three or seven. So they've got worse. And
I think if you don't and it's not just him,
Jona Glove, the other half there's been outstanding as well. Right,
if you're going to put blokes with playbokes in reserve

(28:58):
grade and you basically up the door and then coming
back in the first grade, what a reserve grade team, why.

Speaker 1 (29:03):
Haven't they Why the players there that gets your confidence.

Speaker 3 (29:07):
Back, show you should be your first grader. He goes
back to the reserve grade. He actually does that, and
then you basically say, well, and he hasn't said he
hasn't shut the door in, but he's basically said by
doing that, by what he's come out and said, we
all go well, he's not changing things.

Speaker 7 (29:21):
And at the same time as that's going on, and
the new Southwell's Cup side is performing strongly in the NRL,
they're losing a lot of tight games. That's the moments
where you want your playmakers to stand.

Speaker 5 (29:32):
Up and deliver.

Speaker 7 (29:33):
And I thought Paul Crawley wrote a great column on
Fox Sports Today where if you go through every team
in the NRL with respect to call, he probably doesn't
get a start at any other club. So it's a
big call for Flanno because if the losses continue to mount,
then it's also Flanner's role, and it's Flanner's job that's going.

Speaker 1 (29:53):
To be watching the press conference, I didn't necessarily agree
with the reaction to the game from him. He sort
of said, they're in the game aim and they will
pour under the high ball, but their kicking game was
poor and the best kick they like creative, didn't. I didn't.
They didn't create that really didn't. So I was a
bit surprised by that reaction, you know.

Speaker 7 (30:15):
But it's tough on Kyle because it didn't work at
the Roosters and that was a tough period for him.
It didn't work at Canterbury, and you know, there was
a period where he was not picked in NROL for
a long while and then Gusts had to end up
stepping in and trying to take control of the situation.
I feel for him. I think he has got talent,
but at that really super elite level. It remains to

(30:37):
me soon whether he's going to get it done.

Speaker 1 (30:38):
I think his job is safe for now. Anyway, stick around,
Hoops and ready up next, we Chat live to Maroon's
