star Jacob Preston is fronting the Aneral judiciary appealing a
Grade one charge for a crusher tackle on Tino for
sua Mama. How we James Hooper is at Aneral HQ hoops.

The Bulldogs have rolled out the big guns in an
attempt to try and get Jacob Preston found not guilty
of this Grade one crush at tackle. So they've got
coach Cameron Serralde here, They've got Chair Adam Drewissi here,
They've got CEO Aaron Warburton here, and they've also got
a hot shot Sydney criminal lawyer called Paul McGirr, who

is actually representing Jacob. So far, the NRL have shown
twelve different angles of the incident involving Jacob and Tina,
and then when McGirr started to question Jacob about exactly
what he was doing throughout the tackle and even training
sessions in the lead up to the game. Jacob Preston
has actually told the NRL Judiciary that they focused a

hell of a lot on Teno for Sua mula Awi.
He is an excellent off flader. He also gains a
lot of post contact leaders so as a result, there
was a huge training focus on how to try and
safely limit his involvement in the game. He said they
specifically focused on not putting players in a vulnerable position,

but to be very wary of Teena's off flood. So
it's an interesting case so far. The still affair to
play out. We'll keep you updated over the course of
the evening. The men who are ultimately going to make
the decision Tony Paulatour, the Panthers champion forward and also
ex referee Paul Simpkin. They're the members of the NRAL
Judiciary panel who will decide whether Jacob Preston is guilty

and he gets a month on the sidelines. Not guilty,
he's free to play in the Super Saturday blockbuster against
the canber Raiders.

We're checking a little later to see how that's going
with Jacob Preston. Now, as Hoops just alluded to three
to four weeks grade one charge, it has to be
worth contesting, doesn't it.

What would you guys not?

I think looking at that tackle, to me, it's a
crusher tackle. There's an argument there that Tina may have
been backing into the tackle. I don't see that. I
think they got him on the side, his legs left
the ground. I think it is a Grade one charge.
Is it worth four weeks? No way in the world.
And for mine, that's where the problem is with this system,

because it should not be a four week suspension for
that tackle. It's a very heavy handed charge, isn't it
four weeks for that? I mean, seriously, we're it's the system, Gordon,
but we're detected the next and that's fine. I get that,
but you're still going to break it down what passes
the pub test and regularly, because that's the most important
(03:20):
test we have in our game. And that doesn't pass.
There's no way that's four weeks. That's absurd. It was
a crusher tackle, well, it was a minimal, minimal force
on Tino's head break. I mean you can see his
body weight slips away there, it goes over the top.

Of his head.

That there's is too many extenuating circumstances in that tackle
to rub him out for a month. I still think
it's a crusher and I think it's an extremely dangerous tackle.
I'm not saying that's intentional, that's an accident. That's an
accident there. But but we've seen in the past that
the most minor crusher tackles can result in serious injury.

And he's not.

Wonder was the crusher around when you were playing for
No Like and I never felt that, So I don't
know what they feel like.

Is it worth fighting? Is it worth fighting for the dogs?

If he loses the charge and he can possibly get
off completely. If they've got a good argument, then they
go in there and put a good case forward. Worst
case is an extra game to try and eliminate three games.

You know, if you look at this, I mean his
priors don't help because it's certainly not worth a three
or four weeker at all, whether it's a.

Yeah, he gets himself in an acal position, or I
just struggle with the crusher because unless it's fully intentional,
this is completely accidental, and he tries.

To avoid it. In the end, he knows he is
in a bit of trouble. He lets him get through.

And I just struggle with a guy who's made making
a mistake, not intentionally trying to hurt the player, not
trying to whatever you try and do to perform a crusher,
I don't even know.

And then he is up for three or four weeks.

Still lands on the back of his neck. Now I
get that crul ever milked anything. No, if Tina doesn't
grab the back of his neck, would we be talking
about it.

Now he would have got and played the boy. Tino
took the next hit up off the next play. I
did hear that Tino actually did say something after the
game to support press the which means he may supply
evidence too in there for him.

You speak to the players these days and they are
terrified as to where they should and need to get
their bodies in tackles because of all the all positions
we now have in rugby league with grapples and all
sorts of these different tackles, chicken wings, et cetera, et cetera.
They don't know where they're supposed to be. Terrifying wings
different to this. This. This is an unfortunate accident, but

I still think it's a crusher. And you know, we
had Ethan Lowe a few years back and it was
the most minor contact when you go back to that tackle.
I think he was playing for the Cowboys at the
time against the Knines and when you watched it, you
couldn't really see what happened, but broken bone in his.

That's why the truck got to protect the players too.
So it's totally understandable. It's just a bit of a
tricky one, this one. Now we'll get back to hoops
and aerial HQ a little later to see how this
is unfolding and if Jacob is free to play. It's
a big game, it's a massive game, and he's one
v two the Raiders taking on the Dogs, and how
good is this going to be.

It's the two teams this year that play with the
most passionate spirit and camaraderie. I think what the Bulldogs
have done last year and they've brought it into this year.
And the only team that you see consistently at the
moment equaling that level of passion and matship is the Raiders.
And a lot's been spoken about with the recruitment of

the Bulldogs and what a wonderful job they've done recruiting
players that not necessarily were on the top of everyone's
list and building this into this wonderful team. But the
Raiders is such a necessities you know, the mother of
all inventions sort of story. Like they lost Jack Whitten
a couple of years ago, and he took two one
hundred thousand dollars less a year than the Raiders were

prepared to offer him to go to SOUS because supposedly
he thought he could win a competition. And now the
Raiders have gone in and bought it a ton of
kids who other clubs probably didn't want or see as
their first choice, and they're sitting second on the ladder.

Very good point you make, because a lot of us.

I'dn't forgotten about that, right, Jack White the best player,
the captain wasn't he at the time memory to win
a premiership and he said that he left to go
to Souse and look at the two teams now, it's
going to be a great game because the Bulldogs, although
it was probably a little bit different on the weekend,
the Bulldogs attacked really really well and scored a lot
of points and the Raiders didn't conceive many. But usually

the Raiders really lie on their attack and they're happy
to give points away. The Bulldogs really rely on their
defense and don't usually score as much as what the
Raiders would. So two contrasting styles sets up to be
an epic encounter just to see how it pans out
and who gets the better the other.

But both really hard working footage sides. When you watch
the Dogs now, like you see how hard they're working
for each other and the Raiders in a plight whey
they've turned into the bullies of the competition. They don't
take a backward step, you know. Papalli Tarpani huts and
young like they're all getting in there and they're getting
in their groove and young Sauce having a great year.
So it's a great clash. It's toss of a coin.

If ever, a team reflects the personality their coaches. The
camp Raiders, they are just like Ricky Stewart, don't they.
They fight for everything, they never give in. It's just

I mean, you can argue guys they're not so much
the ugly ducklings of the NRLL, but they don't get
much help down there. They've got to pay overs to
get a big name. They have to develop from within.
So for Ricky to get them where they are right now,
I don't think we're paying them enough, Hoss. It's not
a matter of even paying overs to get a big name.
Even when they offer overs, they can't get a big

won't go there. So they've gone and recruited guys like

came up against the Broncos that perhaps they got ahead
of themselves. And it's a real danger when teams have
a good run of form that they can start reading

guess with the Raiders this week.

It has been mooted that he may find an erall
club for the rest of this year and then sign

saying that won't be happening. If he doesn't come now,
he's not coming at all. I think Newcastle want him
in their side for round eleven. The deal's got to

be the right one for Newcastle too often the Knights.

Grade one charge for a crusher tackle on Tino for

The Bulldogs have rolled out the big guns in an
attempt to try and get Jacob Preston found not guilty
of this Grade one crush at tackle. So they've got
coach Cameron Serralde here, They've got Chair Adam Drewissi here,
They've got CEO Aaron Warburton here, and they've also got
a hot shot Sydney criminal lawyer called Paul McGirr, who

is actually representing Jacob. So far, the NRL have shown
twelve different angles of the incident involving Jacob and Tina,
and then when McGirr started to question Jacob about exactly
what he was doing throughout the tackle and even training
sessions in the lead up to the game. Jacob Preston
has actually told the NRL Judiciary that they focused a

hell of a lot on Teno for Sua mula Awi.
He is an excellent off flader. He also gains a
lot of post contact leaders so as a result, there
was a huge training focus on how to try and
safely limit his involvement in the game. He said they
specifically focused on not putting players in a vulnerable position,

but to be very wary of Teena's off flood. So
it's an interesting case so far. The still affair to
play out. We'll keep you updated over the course of
the evening. The men who are ultimately going to make
the decision Tony Paulatour, the Panthers champion forward and also
ex referee Paul Simpkin. They're the members of the NRAL
Judiciary panel who will decide whether Jacob Preston is guilty

and he gets a month on the sidelines. Not guilty,
he's free to play in the Super Saturday blockbuster against
the canber Raiders.

with Jacob Preston. Now, as Hoops just alluded to three
to four weeks grade one charge, it has to be
worth contesting, doesn't it.

I think looking at that tackle, to me, it's a
crusher tackle. There's an argument there that Tina may have
been backing into the tackle. I don't see that. I
think they got him on the side, his legs left
the ground. I think it is a Grade one charge.
Is it worth four weeks? No way in the world.
And for mine, that's where the problem is with this system,
(03:00):
because it should not be a four week suspension for
that tackle. It's a very heavy handed charge, isn't it
four weeks for that? I mean, seriously, we're it's the system, Gordon,
but we're detected the next and that's fine. I get that,
but you're still going to break it down what passes
the pub test and regularly, because that's the most important
(03:20):
test we have in our game. And that doesn't pass.
There's no way that's four weeks. That's absurd. It was
a crusher tackle, well, it was a minimal, minimal force
on Tino's head break. I mean you can see his
body weight slips away there, it goes over the top.

Of his head.

That there's is too many extenuating circumstances in that tackle
to rub him out for a month. I still think
it's a crusher and I think it's an extremely dangerous tackle.
I'm not saying that's intentional, that's an accident. That's an
accident there. But but we've seen in the past that
the most minor crusher tackles can result in serious injury.

And he's not.

Wonder was the crusher around when you were playing for
No Like and I never felt that, So I don't
know what they feel like.

Is it worth fighting? Is it worth fighting for the dogs?
Is there a new South Wales? There's a chance. I
think it's fighting because it's only one game difference.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
If he loses the charge and he can possibly get
off completely. If they've got a good argument, then they
go in there and put a good case forward. Worst
case is an extra game to try and eliminate three games.

I'd be fighting it for sure.

You know, if you look at this, I mean his
priors don't help because it's certainly not worth a three
or four weeker at all, whether it's a.

Crusher or not.

Yeah, he gets himself in an acal position, or I
just struggle with the crusher because unless it's fully intentional,
this is completely accidental, and he tries.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
To avoid it. In the end, he knows he is
in a bit of trouble. He lets him get through.

And I just struggle with a guy who's made making
a mistake, not intentionally trying to hurt the player, not
trying to whatever you try and do to perform a crusher,
I don't even know.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
And then he is up for three or four weeks.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
Still lands on the back of his neck. Now I
get that crul ever milked anything. No, if Tina doesn't
grab the back of his neck, would we be talking
about it.
Speaker 5 (05:12):
Probably not.

Now he would have got and played the boy. Tino
took the next hit up off the next play. I
did hear that Tino actually did say something after the
game to support press the which means he may supply
evidence too in there for him.

You speak to the players these days and they are
terrified as to where they should and need to get
their bodies in tackles because of all the all positions
we now have in rugby league with grapples and all
sorts of these different tackles, chicken wings, et cetera, et cetera.
They don't know where they're supposed to be. Terrifying wings
different to this. This. This is an unfortunate accident, but
(05:45):
I still think it's a crusher. And you know, we
had Ethan Lowe a few years back and it was
the most minor contact when you go back to that tackle.
I think he was playing for the Cowboys at the
time against the Knines and when you watched it, you
couldn't really see what happened, but broken bone in his.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
Neck it is.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
That's why the truck got to protect the players too.
So it's totally understandable. It's just a bit of a
tricky one, this one. Now we'll get back to hoops
and aerial HQ a little later to see how this
is unfolding and if Jacob is free to play. It's
a big game, it's a massive game, and he's one
v two the Raiders taking on the Dogs, and how
good is this going to be.
Speaker 5 (06:19):
It's the two teams this year that play with the
most passionate spirit and camaraderie. I think what the Bulldogs
have done last year and they've brought it into this year.
And the only team that you see consistently at the
moment equaling that level of passion and matship is the Raiders.
And a lot's been spoken about with the recruitment of
(06:40):
the Bulldogs and what a wonderful job they've done recruiting
players that not necessarily were on the top of everyone's
list and building this into this wonderful team. But the
Raiders is such a necessities you know, the mother of
all inventions sort of story. Like they lost Jack Whitten
a couple of years ago, and he took two one
hundred thousand dollars less a year than the Raiders were
(07:03):
prepared to offer him to go to SOUS because supposedly
he thought he could win a competition. And now the
Raiders have gone in and bought it a ton of
kids who other clubs probably didn't want or see as
their first choice, and they're sitting second on the ladder.

Very good point you make, because a lot of us.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
I'dn't forgotten about that, right, Jack White the best player,
the captain wasn't he at the time memory to win
a premiership and he said that he left to go
to Souse and look at the two teams now, it's
going to be a great game because the Bulldogs, although
it was probably a little bit different on the weekend,
the Bulldogs attacked really really well and scored a lot
of points and the Raiders didn't conceive many. But usually
(07:42):
the Raiders really lie on their attack and they're happy
to give points away. The Bulldogs really rely on their
defense and don't usually score as much as what the
Raiders would. So two contrasting styles sets up to be
an epic encounter just to see how it pans out
and who gets the better the other.

But both really hard working footage sides. When you watch
the Dogs now, like you see how hard they're working
for each other and the Raiders in a plight whey
they've turned into the bullies of the competition. They don't
take a backward step, you know. Papalli Tarpani huts and
young like they're all getting in there and they're getting
in their groove and young Sauce having a great year.
So it's a great clash. It's toss of a coin.

If ever, a team reflects the personality their coaches. The
camp Raiders, they are just like Ricky Stewart, don't they.
They fight for everything, they never give in. It's just
it's it's it's seventeen. Ricky's put a.

Speaker 5 (08:34):
I mean, you can argue guys they're not so much
the ugly ducklings of the NRLL, but they don't get
much help down there. They've got to pay overs to
get a big name. They have to develop from within.
So for Ricky to get them where they are right now,
I don't think we're paying them enough, Hoss. It's not
a matter of even paying overs to get a big name.
Even when they offer overs, they can't get a big
They still can't. They throw their hat in the ring

for all the big players that come off. They just
won't go there. So they've gone and recruited guys like
you know, Strange and and k Weeks like.

They're starting to come along with those young kids and
big pupaar in Tarpani and as I said, like their
