Speaker 1 (00:09):
Welcome to L three sixty Rugby League from every angle,
joining me in the great Gordon tallis Spring the Journal Australian,
Paul Crawley and Dean Richie. We have a massive show
on tonight, Gordy. We've got Broncos star Patrick Carrigan. We've
also got the Cowboy superstars Scott Drinkwater and Tom did
New Queensland as are taking over.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
Mates, getting close to origin after Magic Ground? How good
is it?
Speaker 3 (00:30):
Can't wait?
Speaker 1 (00:31):
Interview those that they come up very soon to Bulldog
star Jacob Preston is fronting the Aneral judiciary appealing a
Grade one charge for a crusher tackle on Tino for
sua Mama. How we James Hooper is at Aneral HQ hoops.
What's the latest.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
Evening, Brayful.
Speaker 4 (00:47):
The Bulldogs have rolled out the big guns in an
attempt to try and get Jacob Preston found not guilty
of this Grade one crush at tackle. So they've got
coach Cameron Serralde here, They've got Chair Adam Drewissi here,
They've got CEO Aaron Warburton here, and they've also got
a hot shot Sydney criminal lawyer called Paul McGirr, who
(01:09):
is actually representing Jacob. So far, the NRL have shown
twelve different angles of the incident involving Jacob and Tina,
and then when McGirr started to question Jacob about exactly
what he was doing throughout the tackle and even training
sessions in the lead up to the game. Jacob Preston
has actually told the NRL Judiciary that they focused a
(01:32):
hell of a lot on Teno for Sua mula Awi.
He is an excellent off flader. He also gains a
lot of post contact leaders so as a result, there
was a huge training focus on how to try and
safely limit his involvement in the game. He said they
specifically focused on not putting players in a vulnerable position,
(01:53):
but to be very wary of Teena's off flood. So
it's an interesting case so far. The still affair to
play out. We'll keep you updated over the course of
the evening. The men who are ultimately going to make
the decision Tony Paulatour, the Panthers champion forward and also
ex referee Paul Simpkin. They're the members of the NRAL
Judiciary panel who will decide whether Jacob Preston is guilty
(02:16):
and he gets a month on the sidelines. Not guilty,
he's free to play in the Super Saturday blockbuster against
the canber Raiders.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
Braith, thank you, Hoops.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
We're checking a little later to see how that's going
with Jacob Preston. Now, as Hoops just alluded to three
to four weeks grade one charge, it has to be
worth contesting, doesn't it.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
What would you guys not?
Speaker 5 (02:38):
I think looking at that tackle, to me, it's a
crusher tackle. There's an argument there that Tina may have
been backing into the tackle. I don't see that. I
think they got him on the side, his legs left
the ground. I think it is a Grade one charge.
Is it worth four weeks? No way in the world.
And for mine, that's where the problem is with this system,
(03:00):
because it should not be a four week suspension for
that tackle. It's a very heavy handed charge, isn't it
four weeks for that? I mean, seriously, we're it's the system, Gordon,
but we're detected the next and that's fine. I get that,
but you're still going to break it down what passes
the pub test and regularly, because that's the most important
(03:20):
test we have in our game. And that doesn't pass.
There's no way that's four weeks. That's absurd. It was
a crusher tackle, well, it was a minimal, minimal force
on Tino's head break. I mean you can see his
body weight slips away there, it goes over the top.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
Of his head.
Speaker 5 (03:36):
That there's is too many extenuating circumstances in that tackle
to rub him out for a month. I still think
it's a crusher and I think it's an extremely dangerous tackle.
I'm not saying that's intentional, that's an accident. That's an
accident there. But but we've seen in the past that
the most minor crusher tackles can result in serious injury.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
And he's not.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
Wonder was the crusher around when you were playing for
No Like and I never felt that, So I don't
know what they feel like.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
Is it worth fighting? Is it worth fighting for the dogs?
Is there a new South Wales? There's a chance. I
think it's fighting because it's only one game difference.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
If he loses the charge and he can possibly get
off completely. If they've got a good argument, then they
go in there and put a good case forward. Worst
case is an extra game to try and eliminate three games.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
I'd be fighting it for sure.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
You know, if you look at this, I mean his
priors don't help because it's certainly not worth a three
or four weeker at all, whether it's a.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
Crusher or not.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
Yeah, he gets himself in an acal position, or I
just struggle with the crusher because unless it's fully intentional,
this is completely accidental, and he tries.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
To avoid it. In the end, he knows he is
in a bit of trouble. He lets him get through.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
And I just struggle with a guy who's made making
a mistake, not intentionally trying to hurt the player, not
trying to whatever you try and do to perform a crusher,
I don't even know.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
And then he is up for three or four weeks.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
Still lands on the back of his neck. Now I
get that crul ever milked anything. No, if Tina doesn't
grab the back of his neck, would we be talking
about it.
Speaker 5 (05:12):
Probably not.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
Now he would have got and played the boy. Tino
took the next hit up off the next play. I
did hear that Tino actually did say something after the
game to support press the which means he may supply
evidence too in there for him.
Speaker 5 (05:25):
You speak to the players these days and they are
terrified as to where they should and need to get
their bodies in tackles because of all the all positions
we now have in rugby league with grapples and all
sorts of these different tackles, chicken wings, et cetera, et cetera.
They don't know where they're supposed to be. Terrifying wings
different to this. This. This is an unfortunate accident, but
(05:45):
I still think it's a crusher. And you know, we
had Ethan Lowe a few years back and it was
the most minor contact when you go back to that tackle.
I think he was playing for the Cowboys at the
time against the Knines and when you watched it, you
couldn't really see what happened, but broken bone in his.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
Neck it is.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
That's why the truck got to protect the players too.
So it's totally understandable. It's just a bit of a
tricky one, this one. Now we'll get back to hoops
and aerial HQ a little later to see how this
is unfolding and if Jacob is free to play. It's
a big game, it's a massive game, and he's one
v two the Raiders taking on the Dogs, and how
good is this going to be.
Speaker 5 (06:19):
It's the two teams this year that play with the
most passionate spirit and camaraderie. I think what the Bulldogs
have done last year and they've brought it into this year.
And the only team that you see consistently at the
moment equaling that level of passion and matship is the Raiders.
And a lot's been spoken about with the recruitment of
(06:40):
the Bulldogs and what a wonderful job they've done recruiting
players that not necessarily were on the top of everyone's
list and building this into this wonderful team. But the
Raiders is such a necessities you know, the mother of
all inventions sort of story. Like they lost Jack Whitten
a couple of years ago, and he took two one
hundred thousand dollars less a year than the Raiders were
(07:03):
prepared to offer him to go to SOUS because supposedly
he thought he could win a competition. And now the
Raiders have gone in and bought it a ton of
kids who other clubs probably didn't want or see as
their first choice, and they're sitting second on the ladder.
Speaker 3 (07:19):
Very good point you make, because a lot of us.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
I'dn't forgotten about that, right, Jack White the best player,
the captain wasn't he at the time memory to win
a premiership and he said that he left to go
to Souse and look at the two teams now, it's
going to be a great game because the Bulldogs, although
it was probably a little bit different on the weekend,
the Bulldogs attacked really really well and scored a lot
of points and the Raiders didn't conceive many. But usually
(07:42):
the Raiders really lie on their attack and they're happy
to give points away. The Bulldogs really rely on their
defense and don't usually score as much as what the
Raiders would. So two contrasting styles sets up to be
an epic encounter just to see how it pans out
and who gets the better the other.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
But both really hard working footage sides. When you watch
the Dogs now, like you see how hard they're working
for each other and the Raiders in a plight whey
they've turned into the bullies of the competition. They don't
take a backward step, you know. Papalli Tarpani huts and
young like they're all getting in there and they're getting
in their groove and young Sauce having a great year.
So it's a great clash. It's toss of a coin.
Speaker 5 (08:21):
If ever, a team reflects the personality their coaches. The
camp Raiders, they are just like Ricky Stewart, don't they.
They fight for everything, they never give in. It's just
it's it's it's seventeen. Ricky's put a.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
Jersey on on the sideline, just number nineteen or something.
Speaker 5 (08:34):
I mean, you can argue guys they're not so much
the ugly ducklings of the NRLL, but they don't get
much help down there. They've got to pay overs to
get a big name. They have to develop from within.
So for Ricky to get them where they are right now,
I don't think we're paying them enough, Hoss. It's not
a matter of even paying overs to get a big name.
Even when they offer overs, they can't get a big
They still can't. They throw their hat in the ring
(08:56):
for all the big players that come off. They just
won't go there. So they've gone and recruited guys like
you know, Strange and and k Weeks like.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
They're starting to come along with those young kids and
big pupaar in Tarpani and as I said, like their
food packs, hard.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
Working, a lot of skill in it as well. Do
you reckon a job?
Speaker 5 (09:17):
Do you reckon Ricky's telling that team they can win
the camp Because I know what Ricky's like. I don't
think he would have moment for the belief that they
can win this comp. It's only early. I get it.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
I still reckoned.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
They reckon we're going to get the wooden spoon us
against the world, not that yet.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
Don't look at the end. We let's live here and
that's right.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
Like as a coach, you're not going to talk about
Grand Finals. You just don't go there.
Speaker 5 (09:38):
It's self belief though. Yeah, of course Ricky has their building.
They've done nothing. They've done nothing at this stage. That's
what Ricky would be telling the players. They've done nothing,
like they're going into this Bulldogs game. And we saw
with the Bulldogs a couple of weeks ago when they
came up against the Broncos that perhaps they got ahead
of themselves. And it's a real danger when teams have
a good run of form that they can start reading
(10:00):
their own press and start listening to what other people
may say about I mean, that's the big danger I
guess with the Raiders this week.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
It's been awesome.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
It's been great to see the Bulldogs obviously have been
on the improved for a number of years now and
that's great for their fans, but also for Raiders fans
down there in camera to see their team coming second
at the moment is pretty special. Have you They can
continue that form now. Breaking news this afternoon, Dom Young
has been given permission to negotiate with other clubs, effective immediately.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
I believe you guys got anything on this.
Speaker 5 (10:28):
Yeah, the Newcastle Knights are the clear early favorites. I
made a few calls in and around the Knights this afternoon.
It has been mooted that he may find an erall
club for the rest of this year and then sign
a two year deer with Newcastle. But the Knights are
saying that won't be happening. If he doesn't come now,
he's not coming at all. I think Newcastle want him
in their side for round eleven. The deal's got to
(10:50):
be the right one for Newcastle too often the Knights.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
We'll get to that, Dolly. That's interesting and we want
to know more about that. But what's happened at the Roosters?
Why have they told him the guard. They've got a fear,
but a depth in that area you go through. You
got Robert Toyer, now that's it. Well, you got Robert
Toy there. Now is he surplus to needs? Is he
needed there? Well he wasn't when he came.
Speaker 5 (11:10):
Correct, But I'm saying lawyers come through. You've still got two.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
A couple of wins in Smith. You know, I'm riding
the chicks.
Speaker 5 (11:19):
He's only a month into a four year deer. But
I don't think there's anything sinister behind me.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
I think it's a bad look.
Speaker 5 (11:24):
I just don't think it's really doubt.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
I'm not suggesting there's anything sinister.
Speaker 3 (11:30):
I'm just asking the question, why, you know?
Speaker 1 (11:33):
Is it just because they've got the young guns have
stood up the last few weeks, that's it.
Speaker 5 (11:37):
I've scored twenty twenty two tries last year, so it
was a fair year. But this year it just looks
like an uncomfortable fit to me, And in fact, even
last year it just looked a bit of an uncomfortable fit.
Look a big ugly ducting. There's been a few, though,
hasn't there at the Roosters in recent seasons that have
gone there with a lot of clubs chasing them that
just haven't worked out. You think Brandon Smith, you think
(11:59):
Matt Load, you think you know Dom Young. Like Dom Young,
the reason that the Roosters wanted him is because he
was killing it at Newcastle.
Speaker 1 (12:07):
I said a few weeks ago, I thought he'd been
struggling all year. To be honest, I don't think it's
happened the last couple of weeks. Dom six foot six'
five and he's over one hundred kilos and runs like the,
wind and he just hasn't given.
Speaker 3 (12:20):
Them what they've.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
Needed he runs out of his own hand and haven't
been haven't had, impact.
Speaker 3 (12:24):
And there's no, robuster enthusiastic.
Speaker 5 (12:27):
Defensive he was doing that At newcastle point coming he
was charging out of the.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
Backfield that's my, point you.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
Know and even he finishing finishes and his reads on the,
edges it hasn't been up to par and certainly not
up to the money that he's being. Paid SO i
actually think no offense To Dom. YOUNG i think it's
a good move by the.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
CHICKS i. DO i think it's the right call and
he'll be to pay For.
Speaker 5 (12:49):
Roosters newcastle said Today gordy privately that they aren't going
to just accept. Anything they've, said this is the rooster's.
Issue it's not up to us to fix their. Problems
if the deal is, right they'll do. It there's a
sneaking suspicion At newcastle that they're trying to get rid
of Doom young to make way for Daily Cherry. Evans
Oka that is the feeling up there in The Hunter.
(13:09):
Valley But newcastle was saying publicly it's not our job
to make way For Cherry. Evans you met the, deal.
Speaker 3 (13:14):
So you're saying The newcastle won't put a cent into.
Speaker 5 (13:17):
It they will put some money in break but the
deal has to be. Right they've said before we've made
some poor deals through mid season transfers and they're not
going to repeat the same mistakes. Again the deal's got
to be right For Bridoth off the top of, HEAD
i can't, remember But newcastle have had a litany of
problems over the years in terms of recruitment and. Retention
but if it's not, right they'll, say we don't Want
(13:38):
it's not our job to boil the roosters.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
Out thoughts on THE dc. Situation do you think they're
freeing up money to get him in.
Speaker 5 (13:43):
THERE i think he's. GONE i think it's just a
matter of when they announce. It the talk around THE
nrl at the moment is THAT dce will be at The.
Roosters it will be a one year. Deal people at
rival clubs and they might not know what they're talking,
about but they're talking a million dollar plus deal for one.
Season it's one, season because it was that's What i'm
being top one. Year one.
Speaker 3 (14:04):
Year it was talking was a. Two so you're hearing
now more so it's a Worse.
Speaker 5 (14:08):
That was the talk that was going around town. Today,
yeah and who knows if that is all on the salary,
cap or if there's third party is involved or. Whatever
however they make the. DEAL i don't think there's any
doubt in the world That Cherry evans will be at The.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
Roosters it would make sense then to Let Dom young
go to free up some money for, that wouldn't.
Speaker 5 (14:26):
It, well you can let a wing ago clear up
your cap to some, degree you've got a lot of,
depth then it frees up FOR. Dc it all makes,
Sense well it does until it. Doesn't and the last
thing The Newcastle knights need at the, moment after spending
all that money On Dylan brown is to spend five
hundred thousand dollars a year for a winger that The
roosters don't want it got enough running cross come to some,
(14:49):
agreement of course they want it'll be two or three.
Hundred in that point you get. Thrown The roosters won't
free up five. Hundred. Mate but if you get Don
mount for three, hundred you take him any other?
Speaker 3 (15:00):
Week, definitely definitely for. Sure. Yeah what ABOUT dc now
with the form Of smith And savara and.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
We're going to come back In is it the right
because the rumors are they agree to this a while, back,
Right so when they agreed to, this these players weren't
playing the way they are right. Now has it been
a bit premature that decision to GET? Dc if they,
have and what are they going to do once he gets?
Speaker 5 (15:27):
There put it this, way if they don't win a
premiership next year WITH, DC i think it's be a failed. Move, No,
NO i, seriously do you have to win a premiership
in one year at the club to? Six i'll tell you. Why,
Okay i'll tell you. Why because they've Got Sandon, smith
man of the match On Anzac. Day it holds his development.
Up Hugo Hugo. Savala he's come of age in recent
(15:50):
weeks because he's got his. Opportunity it holds him. Up
he's on one hundred and eighty thousand dollars, made he's
a development, player and yet you're going to bring someone
in who's going to be on top dollar and hold
these kids. Back what does it do To Sam walker's?
Development like he wants to be the chief, player make
he helps it by having A walker three and FORTY nrl.
Game of course it's going to help, them but doesn't
(16:12):
help them keep these kids satisfied who have been given their,
sniff their. Opportunity if they ended up losing these kids
out of a one year deal For Cherry, evans SO
i reckon it's a twenty Three smith's twenty Two walkers twenty.
Speaker 3 (16:24):
Two time is that they're ready to they, Have.
Speaker 5 (16:28):
They've proven in recent weeks that they're ready for their.
Opportunity you can't put that much pressure On cherry evens
to say if he doesn't win a compressure On, Errs
i'm putting the pressure on the. Roosters but if he
but it's another dominant deal they want all.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
And doesn't win the, competition you, fail but cruel he's
going to one of the power house. Sides Cooper kronk
went he, won he did. Win what does he pay
to do go there and come finish in the.
Speaker 5 (16:56):
Saying he doesn't go there to win? Comps of course he.
Does but to say it is a failed recruitment if
The roosters don't win the COMP i think it's incredibly
harsh on the.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
Play they did it With cooper and they're doing it
WITH dc correct and they would think it was a faring.
THEMSELVES i believe it's a one year deal on over
a million. Dollars they're buying the win a comp.
Speaker 5 (17:16):
Absolutely they're not buying them to finish. Fifth and the
other thing we don't know how this season is going to.
Unfold The roosters started so, slow but in recent, weeks,
man they're on a steady.
Speaker 3 (17:26):
Climb WHAT i would say backing you up though he.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
IS i actually do think he would help the development
myself in that. Year but what it's going to do
is it's going to cost them a player they can't
hold on A savara And Sandon smith that probably end
up losing one of. Them you can't keep, off we
can't have four first grade.
Speaker 5 (17:47):
Halves and don't forget they've got some pretty handed kids
coming along in the in the rung.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
Below Rod weller just won THE Sg ball ground final
end was man in the match in. It so they've
got a lot of halves there to cover. THAT dc
may mean now that they may lose one of. Him
so he's going to be looking at those young Gun
smith And savala are going to be now offered big
contracts elsewhere and it's going to be temptation there with
The Sydney an.
Speaker 5 (18:10):
Opportunity are they're going to be a better side next
year With Daily, CHERRY.
Speaker 3 (18:15):
I believe it will be absolutely.
Speaker 5 (18:17):
WELL i don't, know, mate it's What i'm saying camera.
Well but it's a little bit like going back to
camera situation With Jack. Whitton you Lose Jack whitton doesn't
necessarily make The raiders the worst. Team or do you
see a young man Like Ethan strange jump onto the
market and you take him and give him opportunity and
who knows where it leads? You you don't. Know Cherry
evans is thirty, six, mate he's not getting any Young
(18:39):
you've got the chance to pick up one of the elite.
Halfbacks arguably the best halfback we've seen in ten to fifteen.
YEARS i can't believe ANY. Dc, yeah well better Than Nathan,
cleary no fair, cool but in terms of but in
terms of longevity and what he's done for what fifteen,
YEARS i think he is one of the elite.
Speaker 2 (18:59):
Halfbacks the russ you don't blame them because the young
kids didn't step.
Speaker 3 (19:02):
Up they jumped at.
Speaker 2 (19:03):
Shadows and now the young kids have shown that their
first graders and as simple as. That so then the
next time they're going to sit there and another club
can come and get.
Speaker 3 (19:12):
Them let's remember they did make this.
Speaker 1 (19:13):
Decision if they did make the decision about a month
or so, ago so that was when these boys weren't
playing the decision they may not have all, Right let's
take a look at the inns and.
Speaker 3 (19:23):
Out it's around.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
Ten thanks to sports, Betting david fafeeda out indefinitely for The.
Speaker 3 (19:28):
Titans that's an interesting.
Speaker 1 (19:30):
One campbell back at, Half mitchell named it fullback for
The bunnies And humphries that's a big return at. Half
Ezra man comes back into The broncos, squad but not their.
Team he will come back via The Queensland. Cup King
tongya retains he spotted half of The dragons ill he
is named on the extended bench in The.
Speaker 3 (19:46):
Panthers they get.
Speaker 1 (19:48):
On the wing back after missing five. Games But Ezra
man has been the talk of the. Town nine game
suspension returns this. Week everyone was wondering will be bought
back in first grade all through The Queensland, cup And
major's made his.
Speaker 5 (20:02):
DECISION i think it's the first wise decision that's been
made throughout this whole sorry. SAGA i thought when when
the initial suspension was announced just Pre, christmas they tried
to slide it under the. Carpet no one wants to
see a young man rubbed out forever for making a.
(20:22):
Mistake but it was a pretty bad mistake that he,
made AND i think the suspension that he served was
most fans would, agree was not near. Enough and you
saw the reception.
Speaker 3 (20:34):
From from harder than what The lord did.
Speaker 5 (20:36):
Fans, well it is, good it. Is BUT i THINK
i think THE nrl, ALSO i think THE nrl stands
for something and it's an opportunity AND i don't think
when you look at some of the suspensions that have
been handed out over time for offfield. Misdemeanor just give
this one doesn't stack.
Speaker 3 (20:55):
Up give him sixteen.
Speaker 5 (20:56):
Weeks but The gordon they gave him. MATE i think
The broncos have made a wise choice bringing him back
through reserve.
Speaker 3 (21:02):
Grade oh the fact is he went. Back he's Playing Queensland.
Cup why is he brought him back through A Queensland?
Speaker 5 (21:07):
Cup do you Think i'd say he's just protecting him
and also obviously match fitness and, timing all those ingredients
that go into PLAYING nr. REL i think The broncos
were a little. Shocked albeit it was Magic ran and
there were a lot of fans from rival clubs in
the crowd.
Speaker 3 (21:21):
That, Surprised BUT i was. SURPRISED i was.
Speaker 5 (21:24):
Surprised at the ferocity of the jeers That Ezra man
copped AND i think that was a bit of a
jolt To. Brisbane maybe in a little bubble up. There
they didn't quite realize how on the nose this bloke
is and it was proven once and for all what
the fans. THINK i was.
Speaker 1 (21:38):
Taking it back by that at the, GROUND i looked
up at the big screen Saw.
Speaker 3 (21:42):
I'm looking LIKE i did not expect they running out
In New South.
Speaker 5 (21:45):
Wales it's their home ground.
Speaker 3 (21:47):
Too that's in some care but it.
Speaker 5 (21:49):
Was But i'm just saying that's.
Speaker 3 (21:51):
In the middle Of.
Speaker 5 (21:51):
Brisbane this is not In. Sydney but that's WHY i
think it's a wise choice what they're. Doing, now what
even is if they win this, week does he keep
him down?
Speaker 3 (21:58):
There?
Speaker 5 (21:58):
Well how long is he from the reserve rate For?
Cup going back a couple of, years he was twenty
minutes off For Clive churchill medal in A Grand. Final you,
know like he's a superstar. PLAYER i THINK i Think
walsh's in his early part of the season was missing.
MAN i think the connection they. HAVE i don't have
any doubt in the. World The broncos will be a
better side when he goes back to. Six but Will
(22:20):
hunt be happy playing?
Speaker 3 (22:21):
Hooker to, players what do you, Think, well that's what
he signed there. For Who, hunt that's what he signed there.
Speaker 5 (22:27):
For, well he's throughout his career he's seen himself as
a as a, half hasn't? He and he plays origin as.
Speaker 3 (22:32):
HOOKER i reckon the fights for the number seven.
Speaker 2 (22:35):
JERSEY i reckon two weeks and this guy comes back
into one lock.
Speaker 3 (22:38):
Him they're clunky without.
Speaker 5 (22:39):
Him number seven, Jersey.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
Reynolds, no that's the fight Between hunt And reynolds and
the seven.
Speaker 3 (22:45):
Jersey it's not the sixth. JERSEY i think he is A.
Speaker 5 (22:48):
It's not a Fight. Reynolds If reynolds is, Fee renalds is,
Fit reynolds Is.
Speaker 3 (22:53):
Saiven so did you between that's said to?
Speaker 5 (22:57):
Me renolds an automatic selection.
Speaker 2 (23:01):
For me just watching The, BRONCOS a fight would be
for the seven, jersey and they can either play forteen or.
Nine who's the best forteen or? Nine ben so So
reynolds wins the seven And asra, member they like like
they were five minutes away from winning A grand, final
AND i Think ezra unlocks the outside backs.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
All.
Speaker 1 (23:20):
Right With david ffeed out, Indefinitely Titans skippertino For SOLIMAR
aUI was forced to front up and answer questions about
their missing million dollar.
Speaker 3 (23:28):
Mare the coaches a coach for a, reason and he makes.
Speaker 6 (23:32):
Decisions was for what's best for the team and for the,
club and whatever the coach says IS i.
Speaker 5 (23:37):
Back Does dave not get a long?
Speaker 3 (23:39):
Desk, NO i don't think that's the.
Speaker 6 (23:41):
PROBLEM i just think there's some areas that he needs
to work on his game and make sure he's sort
some stuff up away from, here and they definitely got.
Along there's obviously a lot of other stuff With david and,
whatnot but players do have to forget.
Speaker 5 (23:52):
Themselves we are in the.
Speaker 3 (23:53):
Right it's a good wake up call for.
Speaker 1 (23:54):
Everyone last night we Had barz And ree on the.
Show they broke that story About david feed not being
happy playing on the right, side going To desi asking
the play on the left And desi, said yet you
can plan the left in reserve. Grade now that's what we,
heard and THEN i asked Buzz i pressed him and,
said surely there's something else, here and then he mentioned
That tino may have not been too happy or a
(24:16):
few of the, players which is What i've seen in
other reports as.
Speaker 3 (24:19):
Well so this is starting to kind of grow this.
Speaker 1 (24:21):
STORY i thought it was odd that it was just
him being on the left side that forced his way.
OUT i, mean to the, player it's not playing first.
Grade and now we're starting to hear a few rumblings
out of The. Titans have you guys heard anything or you.
Speaker 5 (24:35):
Don't dump a bike back to q cups he wants
to move. Sides there's clearly more to it all about
What buzz Than redi said is, right he didn't want
to move, Positions but that can't be the. Reason the
more you delve into this store and the more you
realize that the allegations among the playing group are that
he's just not putting in when he has to put.
In how could there not be frustration when you look
(24:55):
at a guy Like tino who gives his absolute or
every single minute he's on the, field and he might
leave the field for a couple of minutes and he's
straight back doing the. Same and then you have a
guy like The feedo who's on a million dollar contract
and in my, view a million dollar. Player he doesn't
turn up every now and. Then LIKE i Heard buzz
And reedy having a debate last, night has he played
(25:18):
a better game this year where he played well in
The saints? GAME i know he had a couple of
other good games. MADE a million dollar player has to
turn up every.
Speaker 3 (25:24):
Week let's be.
Speaker 1 (25:25):
Honest you, KNOW i don't know anything about their club or.
Not they're in the sanct of. Nothing but as a
as an ex footy, player if you've got a guy like,
him looks the way that he doesn't is paid as
much as he, is and he's performing the way that he,
is is going to be players talking in the. Sheds
he's going to be players going this is a.
Speaker 2 (25:43):
Putting it's frustrating when you're played with someone with so much.
Potential the only thing he has to do is get fit.
Well everybody else has to work so hard on the.
Speaker 5 (25:54):
Game he's not fit good.
Speaker 2 (25:55):
Well the play the way he, does and you, know
like and the second efforts and all. THAT i think
that's what they're talking about, doing doing the things what
the team need to. Do Like i've Watched dave pick
up the ball like under rates and run over five
or six guys and slam the ball.
Speaker 3 (26:08):
Down not too many players can do.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
That but it's the little things that when you're playing with,
someone that's what that's what you respect from your. Teammates
you don't worry about If steven if can' scored four,
tries but if he doesn't tie in in the defensive, line.
Speaker 3 (26:19):
No no One New, gordon you would get. Frustrated wouldn't
get your.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
Teammate where you get frustrated at the, side like just
if it happened in your.
Speaker 2 (26:25):
Team Look, Dave, Dave david had have of off season ankle.
SURGERY i don't know how much work you put in
in the off. Season i'm not, there but that's not an.
EXCUSE i think when you put the jersey on and
you go, out that's what you get judged.
Speaker 5 (26:38):
On just having ferocity and size isn't. Enough and then
you've got to go to your. Extras dar's In David
fafeder like oil and, water theirs is so intense for
feed is such a free. Spirit, yes this has been
on this path before With Tony williams At. Manly he
tried to Get williams. Involved williams did well at, times
he played a bit of, origin but he just couldn't
get the consistency.
Speaker 3 (26:59):
The bulldog he.
Speaker 5 (27:00):
Did But i'm just saying, this but generally, speaking, though
did it. Work, No williams didn't kick, on as we all,
know because all the coaches.
Speaker 2 (27:07):
Fall in love was in the same bracket like another,
guy where you just look at their potential and you,
go oh and do.
Speaker 3 (27:17):
ALL i brought a wire on.
Speaker 1 (27:18):
Fire let's hear what your bulldogs bite is for.
Speaker 3 (27:21):
Tonight, well it's an.
Speaker 5 (27:23):
Interesting, one, broth because fourteen months AGO i wrote that
column right there WHERE i Questioned benji's commitment to coaching
and questioned whether he was a part time coach because
he wanted to spend time with his family and he
wanted to play a game of golf during the off.
Season Benji rangy was before one of these shows on
An all three. Sixty we haven't spoken in fourteen. MONTHS
(27:45):
i just felt a bit increasingly uncomfortable and uneasy as
the season went. On DID i get it? Wrong HAVE
i gone too heavy on this? Bike because they've had
five wins now they're sitting. Eighth there were seventeenth last.
Year he's jumped nine. Places it's the most any coaches.
Jumped this is in Tomorrow's.
Speaker 3 (28:03):
Let Me Get.
Speaker 5 (28:04):
You took it for a game of. Goals, No, No
i'd beat. Him but WHAT i, was WHAT i was
concerned about was sometimes you've got to get to admit
that you get it. Wrong AND i just think in this,
case MAYBE i went too, Heavy MAYBE i went too,
hard and the results are there for all the seat
and you know, what If benji can somehow and she's
a long way to, go manufacture them into the, finals
(28:25):
he'd have to be coach of The.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
Year this is a beautiful. Store it. Warms he's a
beautiful store. Good it's made. Up so you're on great terms,
now on great, terms BUT i was a bit of
that back. Then and did you are you back or?
Speaker 5 (28:49):
Not we're, Okay well did you talk to? You, no
we've just been exchanging text. Message, yeah we haven't gone
for a. Coffee just text. Me just look were like.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
THAT i don't.
Speaker 5 (29:02):
Know i'll be cheering for tigers. Now so you put him.
AHEAD i can go And Mickey coach of The year
ahead Of surroudo And. Ricky, yeah Well i'm Saw ricky
at the. Moment Andrew web what do you?
Speaker 3 (29:12):
Texted he? Did he just right back because he he, said, hi,
buzz how are? YOU i love that photo.
Speaker 5 (29:18):
Too, yeah that's funny because if you're looking rooster of,
those don't you?
Speaker 3 (29:21):
Were? Think figure Out john is?
Speaker 1 (29:24):
Up next we cross live The broncos star Forward Patrick
carrigan
