Speaker 1 (00:12):
Welcome to three sixty rugby league from every angle, joining
me again the great good and talent. Let's bring the
journals in poor Crawley and Dean Richie, and let's take
a look at the ins and outs around fourteen.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Thanks to sports Ben, there are some big ones.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
Tom Jaboievich still remains on the sideline for the Manly Seagulls,
a huge in for the Broncos. Walsh returns at fullback.
Foguty after that one week off is back for the Raiders.
White and Walker back for the Bunnies. Galvin included on
the extended bench for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
Will he play?
Speaker 3 (00:41):
Won't he?
Speaker 2 (00:42):
We think he will? And Sam Walker Yes ready.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
Sam Walker returns in New South Wales Cup for the
Sydney Roosters.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
Gord, he really had him gone, He had him rested.
Speaker 4 (00:52):
Gone, shouldn't play for the rest of the year. Roosters
have no chance. It would be good just to go back,
just get some top I, get some confidence, get some
match fitness.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
And the Roosters got by.
Speaker 5 (01:04):
Yeah, so I imagine he'll go straight back into the
first grade side.
Speaker 4 (01:08):
Absolutely, But you think you want some time, just to
get some time, You would think you guys always thought
you'd come back.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
Right, Oh, look it is. It is more delayed than
we thought originally.
Speaker 5 (01:17):
I think the Roosters initially put out a time frame
a round twelve.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
It's going to be around fifteen.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:23):
I don't think you ever could have kept him out
for the whole season, given his marquee half back.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
I mean, why wouldn't he be come back.
Speaker 5 (01:31):
He's part of a Rooster's side, which it feels on
the cusp of something special. Albeit I got beaten late
last week. Yeah, he's a world class player. And if
you've got a world class player and a side that's
trying to hunt into the finals, then and there it's
mad as I think he won't be the Rooster's performance
the other day, you can't understand how good that was,
Like Camber were great, but it was one of the
better matches of the season. And given who they're missing,
(01:53):
and they're missing him, they're going to be on the
charge come the back end of the season.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Oh, I agree, Poor lady just got that one wrong.
Didn't he feel sorry for Big news?
Speaker 2 (02:01):
Of course?
Speaker 3 (02:02):
Likely Galvin.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
He's just days away from making his Bulldog's debut.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
His coach Cameron throughout.
Speaker 6 (02:07):
That We've only had two sessions with him, but he's
fitted in really well. The boys accepted him into the
group and it's getting to know everyone, all the names,
all the players, and he was really comfortable with understanding
he had to come here and earn the right to
be in our team. And I'm really confident in our culture.
He's strong enough to have people come into our group
and accept them with open arms. And we had a
(02:28):
couple of spots in our top thirty open which we
left open for reasons like this in case the quality
player pops up. And when Locke said that he wanted
to come join our club, definitely spoke to a couple
of senior players and yeah, they were really excited about
him coming. Toby will be the halfback on Monday against
the Eels, and he's had a great opportunity all a
year to get all the reps of training and we've
been really open about some things we want him to
(02:50):
do better and he's working really hard on that and
now our coaches are working really hard with him on that,
as they are with every other player in the squad.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
Yes, all eyes will be on Lachlan and they have
been for the past few months, including ourselves.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
He's got to the Bulldogs.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
He's been named in the extended bench, so we're still
unsure whether he's one hundred percent going to play. We're
hearing he most likely will now Toby sext and he's
going to start at seven, which we heard when they
signed Galvin he was about to be dropped.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
So that's an interesting call. Where does that leave Galvin?
Speaker 3 (03:21):
I think it leaves Galvin at the moment.
Speaker 5 (03:24):
Well, in my opinion, I think he should play Ysobel's cup,
I really do. Camera Crello just said it. He has
to earn the right to get into our side. So
if that's the case, then he should go and play
a game or two in the lower grades.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
You know what else it would do.
Speaker 5 (03:38):
It would appease in the simmering angst in the playing
group right now that this kid's going to come straight in,
and would also allow Galvin just to find his feet
and allow the players that are there to think, you
know what, this kid's not going to get preferential treatment.
He's not going to push his way to the side.
He will earn his way into the side.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
What's he going to get out of playing this?
Speaker 3 (03:57):
Others caut well break. It just takes this thing out
of the story. For this is the long stories. It's
just the long game. It doesn't dog, it doesn't take
the head out of the story.
Speaker 5 (04:06):
A few weeks back when he played New South Wales
Cup for the Tigers, you went out and watched the
game like it's still going to create as the long Wolves.
They didn't buy him to play Second Over, but I'm
saying they buyed him to play NRL. If it means
keeping some harmony inside that camp, then I've got no
problem with him going by feet.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
It just a question.
Speaker 5 (04:27):
Seraldo said, he's going to earn the right he did.
Has he earned the rong? Reckond Serrauto has done here,
Like there was a lot of concern that this may
disrupt the harmony of the Bulldog's team. They're sitting up
the top of the ladder. Everyone's done their job. You know,
if you go and drop rud or if you go
and drop sext and it could create this armony. I
think Cameron Serrauto was proving to be that good of coach.
(04:50):
He wouldn't have brought someone in from the outside if
he hadn't first had the likes of Stephen Crichton and
Kick how and Matt Burton and his senior players on
board about this decision, because while it may be a
problem with the West Tigers, they're loyal to their team,
They're loyal to their success. He would have had to
have had the conversation and said, boys, this is a
(05:13):
team first culture. This is what we're going to do.
What do you reckon, brok I believe it. If it's
going to disrupt them, we'll find out. Regardless of whether
he plays. You so I was cut this week or not,
it's going to be an issue. If that is the case,
it may not be. I think just get him in there.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
You know. I don't think dropping sex and straightaway is.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Going to help.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
But get him in there.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
Get him in amongst the playing which they already have,
let him come off the bench, playing a few different
positions or whatever that may need to be, whilst monitoring
the way Sexton's going and the way he's controlling the team.
And then they have the option of dropping Sexton or not,
you know which They've got that now. Anyway, I think
that the quickie you throw him into the furnace, the
better see how he reacts. I just don't see what
(05:50):
the point would be buying a big signing like Himick,
if they've talked up, can possibly get them to a title. Now,
why waste a week or two in New South Wales
Cup get you in the first grade?
Speaker 4 (06:01):
I agree, I think you all make really good points,
but I throw him in there. You bought him to
play first grade, that's where you want him to do
if he puts someone's nose out of joint while. They
brought him because they don't think that they could win
the comp with the roster that they have. But sext
And was rumored to have beenelieved on the book. Now
Siralo has decided to keep him there, which is what
I think is good leadership.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
However, it does show though smoke and mirrors it could be.
Speaker 5 (06:25):
It does show, however, though, that Galvin isn't going to
walk straight into the side. So it's an indication to
me that he has to do some sort of apprenticeship
for one of a better term rules before he just
marches into that side. This is a side that's winning
the premiershere. Yeah, but you're talking New South Wales Cup said, mate,
he's a kid, he's got fifteen years of inter rule.
(06:47):
If there's one game in New South Wales Cup which
eases him into the squad and shows to those blokes
and he doesn't get preferential treatment that I've got no
problem with it.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
You promise you won't turn up watching I may pop
out the look you're in secure? You go?
Speaker 2 (07:05):
It is interesting.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
I think sexan' is gonna he's got the heat on him.
If he didn't have the heat on him already, he's
coming to this game with Galvin sitting on the bench.
He knows he needs to perform at his best and
get a win for his team or else he's probably gone.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
Right.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
So, but Galvin's pr campaign in the last few days,
what have we made of that?
Speaker 5 (07:23):
It's been pretty good. I think he's actually come across
quite well Galvan. Albeit we know the questions were vetted
and they were staged, but I think the way he
presented himself, I personally was quite impressed.
Speaker 3 (07:34):
It's impressed.
Speaker 5 (07:35):
Well, no, it's not that I wasn't impressed with what
he did. He's a nineteen year old kid. It was
totally scripted. We weren't told the truth about the things
that have caused the division at the Tigers. I thought
it would have been a better idea to save that
just getting back on the field and let his actions
speak for him for themselves.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
I think he's spoken really well, there's no doubt. I
don't think it's done harm.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
I was with you, Caruls.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
I didn't see the need in him talking, especially when
he couldn't really say a lot.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
You've got to get out of the way, breath the
but what's out of the end of view?
Speaker 2 (08:12):
What's out of the way.
Speaker 5 (08:13):
You've got to get the interview out of the wouldn't
you know what's good out of the way, the media
sniffing around it. The media gone essentially now, but no
one's chasing about it now. But no one is chasing
him for a one on one interview. He's done the interviews.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
Because the interview was boring. Well, you can call it
what you're like, Gordy.
Speaker 5 (08:30):
He's done his interviews now and now it's free space
in terms of the media chasing him around.
Speaker 3 (08:35):
Cool. I think it was a good idea to get
it done.
Speaker 4 (08:37):
I think with what's happened, if I was advising him,
just let your footy do the talking, go out there,
earn the strips, and then every said I earned the
stripes when he got there and keep everybody quiet and place.
Speaker 5 (08:49):
Well, if you guys want him in the side, that's fair.
But where do you play You've got Bailey Havard on
the bench? Are you going to run two halves on
the bench or be Hailey? Is he can play?
Speaker 2 (08:59):
And you know.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
That's where it's interesting, and that's where it's a big
decision for the coach first around it because as soon
as I heard that, I thought him and heywould It's
not typically what you'd go for as a coach in
a team, but you know, this is different circumstances.
Speaker 4 (09:12):
But what suits him at the moment, Braith and his
career second ball or off the ruh one off or
second man.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
I don't think it matters what suits him right now.
I think it's what the Bulldogs wanting to me that
that is required. And I think that they think he's
that talented and that much he's got that much footy
IQ that no matter where they want him to play,
he'll do a job and do a good.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
One at that.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
So I don't think it's all it's about him, and
I think he's made that known. You know, he's kind
of said all the right things and been quite selfless
in the way that he's approached this transition over to
the dog. So I think he's pretty open minded as
to where he plays.
Speaker 5 (09:45):
I actually think it's very fascinating to wait and see
what happens, because I think most people would agree with
what you're getting out there, Gordon, that he's best suited
for five eight.
Speaker 3 (09:54):
That's what we know. We haven't seen him play first receiver,
half back. But what that does?
Speaker 5 (10:00):
Bulldogs seem to need that Sexton style, you know, chief organizer,
because Matt Burton has showed in the past that he's
not that player. But if he does end up at
five eight, then where does Burton end up? Does Burton
end up in the centers? Then is Stephen Krichton the
one that shifts back to fullback? What about Connor Tracy?
Someone older me.
Speaker 4 (10:18):
That looks like a better balance having Galvin at six
with a bit more time and space and sex and
is doing a pretty good job at seven.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
I don't think there's anyone who sees him as a
genuine seven that I've heard or spoken to.
Speaker 5 (10:31):
That's the one under the under the gun?
Speaker 3 (10:34):
Is it Hayward that comes in as the seven?
Speaker 1 (10:36):
I thought that Hayward might have played seven this week
and they would have had Galvin and just made the
call Like that's what I was hearing when they signed Galvin.
I heard that Sexton was about to get dropped anyway,
that was coming out of Canterbury.
Speaker 5 (10:49):
But well, why Look, I know the number on sections
back is seven, but why is Sex than the one
that's got to be punted straight away? He's led this
side as the playmaker to the top of the table
and then suddenly his kid Strollshi off the street, his
wonderful potential and then Sex is at the moment, I think.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
The problem is Gordy. This is why they are where
they are. Poor Toby is because he hasn't had a
heap of clubs after him. Else he would have signed
somewhere else, or the Bulldogs may have rushed or.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
Upgraded and extended.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
He hasn't had the interest, which is which is surprising
to mean a lot of us that that he hasn't.
Speaker 5 (11:25):
But even even if that happens, though, even if Heywood
ends up taking sextant spot as the seven in the team,
it still doesn't answer where Galvin ends up. Because Galvin's
got to come off the bench when he comes off
the bench, he plays.
Speaker 3 (11:38):
Five, eight, doesn't he? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (11:40):
So so ultimately, when he fits into that team and
he's won the trust of all the players and he's
playing good enough, someone is then going to the seven.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
He's there to play seven.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
They have bought him to play Seven's for the right now.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
They brought him to play seven. He's not coming on
the place here, he said to go.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
You don't think he is a seting.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
No, but but I'm not.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
That doesn't mean I don't think he can do as good,
if not a better job than sex than seven. Okay,
I just I think I was just saying that if
you ask all the great judges and all the experts
in our game and ex players, they don't seem as
a genuine seven. Doesn't mean he can't go and do
a great job there at all. Like he's a talented kid.
He's a you know, I'm not sure if he's a
generational talent yet. Look, I haven't probably seen enough, but
(12:23):
he's got the potential to be.
Speaker 5 (12:24):
He played a half back role at the Tigers, didn't
he essentially? But he is a running six, isn't he.
I don't think he's half back personally, but if someone's
got to go Crulse and something has to give, does
Burton become an edge back role.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
I'd see Burton Moore as I don't even try the
full back before a runeback bro could he play.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
Because then he don't disrupt anything. Because that was my
first thoughts.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
If you put you know he's got Sherry, I know
that right, But you've got Sherry and Crichton doing great
job in the centers. You had Sexton or Hayward with
Galvin in the halves and Burton back to fullback. Burton
can as an extra half most fullbacks through a lot
of these days. He brings him into the game as
a support player. He's not an organizer anyhow. You don't
lose his running, his strengths running, you don't lose his
(13:09):
kicking game at fullback, and you see Latrell and those guys,
they do a lot.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
Of the King. He'd be similar style of the Troll.
Speaker 1 (13:15):
If you moved into fullback for the Dogs, that was
my first instead of moving christ and I would just
wouldn't move the best center in the game. He So
I'd lean towards that if that was maybe an option
for them moving tell you.
Speaker 5 (13:25):
What it proves Gus has put together a fair roster
as much as we bag us, so we know he
tells Fibbs right here and now that there's not enough players,
not enough positions rather to fit all the play I
don't think anyone questions that Galvin is not a goodbye
for any club, like he's an exceptional young talent. I
think where most people have a problem with what's happened
(13:48):
here is the fact that Lachlan Galvin has been able
to get out of a contract a year and a
half before he was due to and that that's the
beginning and end of the conversation. It just once again
shows what an absolute sham the transfer system is.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
It's also the risk of disruption to a team that
are coming first and could derail their season. I don't
think it will, I'll get that clear, but it has
the potential too, and that's what the fans.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
Are a little bit scared of.
Speaker 1 (14:16):
With the big bosses ducking for cover, it was Catoni
Stagers and Adam Reynolds fronting up at Redhill as the
veteran playmaker repairs that play's three hundredth games.
Speaker 7 (14:26):
Three hundredth game massive achievement.
Speaker 2 (14:29):
What does it mean to you.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
Did you ever think you get to the triple century?
Speaker 7 (14:34):
No, it's not something I thought about probably the last
year or two. I love to turn up the work.
I love trying to fight out of any situation that
we're in, whether it's good or badom as a club.
We're working extremely hard to do that together. And you
know we're stay in united and no, no doubt we'll
change the momentum.
Speaker 3 (14:50):
He's the club, unhappy of the players and happy.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
What's the situation in your eyes?
Speaker 7 (14:54):
No, it's easy to write headlines when you're not winning games.
You know, it's all external. It doesn't mean anything for us.
It's been a bit of a change, but you know
the change that we're willing to take. I can assure
you we will turn around.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
You've got some interest in the West, Tiger's and a
few clubs.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
Is your own preference to finish hit the read.
Speaker 7 (15:10):
I'm focusing on this weekend, Pete. I just said that
I'm not worried about contracts at the moment. That'll sort
itself out in the background. I'm focused on getting to
win and you know, turning around what's been a poor
few weeks for us.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
There really good manage. We love Madge where he's done
a great job.
Speaker 5 (15:27):
You know, he's come into his team and changed change
the club and obviously change the way.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
We want to be on and off the field. That
you've been trying too hard, that's a load of crap.
I'll say.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
You know you got a train hard.
Speaker 5 (15:40):
It's a it's a very tough sport and I think
if you don't.
Speaker 7 (15:44):
Train hard, I don't think you're going to go far
in this competition.
Speaker 1 (15:48):
So the little Maestro Adam Reynolds to play throughout a games.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
The skipper's a milestone. What a player has been for
a long period of time. Look like you got out
of an arm chair.
Speaker 3 (16:00):
One looks like he's just jumped out of a sawn.
Speaker 5 (16:02):
He's sitting there talking about how good things are. Training
to hard keel over in all fantasy.
Speaker 3 (16:09):
Ye, but he hadn't.
Speaker 2 (16:14):
But he just walked off.
Speaker 1 (16:19):
Under they're under the pumper. Let's let's give Reno some
credit here. He's played his three hundredth game and it
hasn't been at the best of time of wait, but
what a players.
Speaker 5 (16:29):
He's been an amazing player, you know, one of the
best half packs of his generation. He he won a
Grand Final as a young man with the rabbit Os
and they went pretty close two years ago at the Broncos.
Speaker 3 (16:41):
I think it is.
Speaker 5 (16:44):
You can't ignore the elephant in the room, and I
don't think it was a good look for the Broncos
or the story to emerge today that a contract had
been tabled for Adam for next year, because right at
the moment, and regardless of you think or if you
want Reynolds to play another season, five weeks ago against
(17:07):
the Bulldogs, he looked like he could play forever. He
turned on that master class, that kicking performance. He looks
so good. But the last few weeks, like the rest
of the team, they've been dragging their bums around the field.
They've been playing without passion inspiration. When Reno sat there
beside Magic at the postmatch press conference the other day,
he looked beat. And we're halfway through the season. He
(17:31):
turns thirty five next month. So next year, if the
Broncos go forward with Adam Reynolds as one half and
potentially well, Ben Hunt will be thirty six turning thirty
seven next year, is it the right move for the
club going forward and especially to take the glory becomes
the conversation this week.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
Do you think they did that this week?
Speaker 5 (17:55):
Well you wonder, don't you Is it to try and
is it to try and change changed the tact of
what the conversation's been, because it just seems strange to
me when that story dropped today and there was all
the talk last night about Dave Donahue hiding under the
under the covers and not turning up at requests to
appear on this show and another show, and then this
(18:17):
story drops today with Renault's three hundredth game.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
You just wonder the negotiations have been going on for
a few weeks. I wouldn't be fair today.
Speaker 5 (18:27):
I don't truth is there is no contract offer that
is actually in writing that They've been talking, like you said,
for some time now, and there's sort of like I
think there's a bit of an understanding of what the
contracts worth may be between here and there, but there's
no actual contract on the tape.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
Look, wouldn't you just spake till the end of the year.
Speaker 3 (18:48):
But when.
Speaker 2 (18:51):
Reynolds has said that he doesn't want to leave, cares no.
Speaker 4 (18:53):
But Adam Reynolds has said so this is me just
reading between the lines. I don't want to leave Brisbane
and I'm happy to retire these or I think coming
out of his mouth, don't you just wait to see
how he finishes the year, to see whether his body
can keep up with you know, because if he's a.
Speaker 5 (19:11):
It's a bad move to re sign him Gordy at
thirty five, everything's a bad move because it's far the
time and when it catches, when it catches up with you,
it catches up overnight.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
This is an elite player who's played state of origin one.
Speaker 5 (19:24):
I'm not saying that is not every club has to
look into the crystal ball at some point and take
a risk. But if the season is the issue, if
it's not Adam Reynolds, who do you put?
Speaker 3 (19:34):
He's older, but he's ready contract.
Speaker 5 (19:38):
That's the point of Reynolds might turn out to be
the man you do if he finishes the season strong.
But we are at the halfway point of the season,
it's not the time to be announcing that he's got
a new thirty.
Speaker 2 (19:49):
Five year old halfbacks. It's just not.
Speaker 5 (19:51):
And the other the other issue that you can't ignore
that while while Renault's body has been bashed from pillar
to post for as long as it has it's secret
that Madge's coaching style grinds him into the ground, and
is he suited to last another season and a half
under the current well who was seven? Then if you
don't want Reynolds, that's the Broncos problem. I'm just saying
(20:13):
it's and you've.
Speaker 3 (20:16):
Got to come up with a solut.
Speaker 4 (20:20):
Signed Ben Hunt on a two year deal, so he's
a backup number seven. So they thought that he was
going to come slot in for Isra Man and when
Adam retires, he was going to be the half back
with Ezra Man.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
How have you found Adam Reynolds's form this season?
Speaker 2 (20:35):
It's patchy.
Speaker 5 (20:37):
I think it's pretty good over Okay, yes, I agree,
this is this is my opinion, and I'm so happy
to be pred He destroyed the Bulldogs.
Speaker 4 (20:46):
You asked me a question and the Grand finally were
supposed to get the deal done. He didn't, right, and
then against the Dragons was alarming for me. Against the
Dragons the last place, and I'm saying it was it
was like afforded. It was like the ball come into
my hands. We don't think the same. We're fatigued. He's
got players on the outside, didn't come up with a kick,
didn't come up with a pass, run sideways.
Speaker 5 (21:06):
And got tackled, in fairness to him than Gordon too,
then he's not on his own.
Speaker 4 (21:13):
If if a man don't play that game, it's worse.
And then on the weekend coming up against Cherry Evans
backing up from state of origin, who got the points, Well,
there's your en.
Speaker 5 (21:24):
I'll tell you something that's really important here. The money
that he is going to get isn't huge. It will
be a modest contract, so it will not pop the
Bronco salary.
Speaker 3 (21:36):
Really good points.
Speaker 4 (21:37):
So if you can get would that be enough to
keep selling Cobbo and Catny Stage?
Speaker 3 (21:42):
Absolutely from what I'm told that I don't have money.
Speaker 5 (21:44):
Think that money that he gets Adam Reynolds will blow
their cap away.
Speaker 3 (21:49):
So if you can get him cheaper or cheap ish.
Speaker 4 (21:53):
For me, if I had a young sell on Cobbo
that's playing Buster at the moment and you've got to
keep selling at twenty one or half back at thirty five,
I'm going for sale to give him.
Speaker 5 (22:02):
But the other problem for the Broncos too, Dog, I
think you need to take into account here is that
they're one of the biggest If not the biggest club
in the game. They should have young players ready to unleash,
like the roosters do, like the powerful clubs do. Like
what's going on at that club that they're still holding
on to a man that soon to be thirty five
(22:25):
and a guy that will be thirty six as your
halves to take you forward into next season.
Speaker 3 (22:30):
They're going to go.
Speaker 1 (22:33):
There isn't a seven waiting to go out there. Well,
they had Tommy didn't, right, Yeah, right?
Speaker 4 (22:37):
Because when I was talking to Lockeie, like we had
this really good young kid come through and then for
some reason he lost his confidence. But they said, but
then he went to the Cowboys and there he was
playing state of Origin. Right, But now they're supposed to
be some guys sitting around there. It's time when you've
got a thirty five year old half back to put
him in there and teach him.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
Not have too thirty five year olds.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
I think if you get him at the right price, though,
you know the way he's played at times this year
year and what he would have in him next year, Madge,
you think he's safe.
Speaker 5 (23:07):
I think right now Madge is the safest coach in
the NRL. And I'll tell you why you hit the
nail on the head last night. I certainly do because
he is the fourth coach in seven seasons at the Broncos,
and the administration who sacked Kevin Walters, who employed Anthony Sebold,
(23:30):
who now brought in Michael Maguire to take over, cannot
be seen to get another one wrong. Or, as Gordon
said last night, it's their heads on the chopping block.
He's the safest coach in the game, won't They won't.
Speaker 3 (23:41):
Get rid of him.
Speaker 5 (23:42):
Look, Madges failed and what they bought him in they
do essentially, which was to toughen them up. Get rid
of the rock stars, get rid of the fingernail polish,
get rid of the selfies with your shirts off. That
hasn't worked yet. Is that on Madge or is that
on the players? Because at the moment it takes time
to image. I've got a fan of Madge Breath. I
(24:02):
just I like I like his old school coaching style,
maybe because I'm a bit old school myself.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
Is it working?
Speaker 5 (24:08):
But at the moment, no, Gordon, But if you want
to rearrange your culture, and I'm not saying Kevy had
a bad culture before you jump down my throat.
Speaker 3 (24:16):
I'm not going you will. I'm just going to because
I know what you're like, Madge. You just answered it
for me.
Speaker 5 (24:23):
Madge takes time to bring in and implement news systems.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
So he's only twelve weeks into his tenure. Where so
we have to give him really and where's the proof
of that?
Speaker 5 (24:35):
Well, Cruls, anyone who makes chrangers needs time, no.
Speaker 3 (24:41):
Back, over the over the course. So he didn't get
better at the Tigers.
Speaker 4 (24:45):
And before that, that's ouse he went twelve twelfth and
he went ninth eleventh, So after after he.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
Took over a premiership ready roster dog. That's the that's
the point there.
Speaker 2 (24:55):
I say it.
Speaker 4 (24:56):
Benji's doing a better job about the Tigers now than
what he did.
Speaker 5 (24:59):
The other thing is and what about Benji is a
good People misunderstand this too. But even the really tough
coaches you can see in the Bellamies and the Bennetts
and them sort of characters Ricky Stewart's there's there's there's fun,
there's excitement. It's at the moment the Broncos appear to
be a team that are employed to go and dig holes.
(25:21):
They look so unhappy. They've got one of the great
jobs in the world. They're living the dream. There's no
enjoyment in the joint like dog in what workplace do
you want to go there and get flogged twenty four
to seven and not have some sort of fun and
they don't look like they're having fun.
Speaker 3 (25:35):
Or off the field?
Speaker 5 (25:36):
What workplace do you sack someone or say that we
talk weekstill we're talking. I've just said after what in
what workplace do you say to someone after twelve weeks
that it isn't working at a workplace? So they're guarante
where they've got a top four roster. These players have
(25:56):
been molly coddle.
Speaker 2 (25:58):
What they.
Speaker 3 (26:00):
Just needs to change.
Speaker 4 (26:01):
I'm just going to go on your line here at
what workplace do you get sacked for liking a post?
Do we know what workplace do you get sacked at
liking a post?
Speaker 5 (26:11):
What depends on HRT each company guard And sometimes that's
deemed to be a quite a severe Is that a freak?
But we don't know whether that was the only reason.
It couldn't have been just for manager wasn't playing it.
Speaker 2 (26:23):
And they're light on in the forwards, they're light on
in the front row. Paying ass needs a friend.
Speaker 1 (26:27):
I think, you know, Mage is underestimated the job he's
had at hand. And I tend to agree with you
there that these players like they've got to take some responsibility.
There's got to be some resilience there and some some
work ethic and some something. They have to have an
inspiration or pride in their own performances.
Speaker 2 (26:45):
Like you know, you can't blame it all on the coach.
I think, you know, if.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
You look at the Bulldogs and a few other clubs,
I've had to go backwards to go forwards, you know,
and we're seeing that at the Broncos now. But I
just don't know how long it's going to be able
to last with the club like the Broncos and with
the me year and the speculation general.
Speaker 4 (27:02):
I mate, I think it's and you've got to it's
it's the leadership. Come out and tell us what you're doing,
so then I don't have to see here as the
next player every week and talk about you for twenty years.
I haven't been at the club for twenty years, and
I've got to keep on talking about the decisions that
they make.
Speaker 3 (27:17):
Mate.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
We had a guy and we've asked.
Speaker 4 (27:18):
Him to come on and talk to the members and
the fans of the most powerful club ever said, it's
a powerful club. It's silence, it's crickets last year, it's crickets.
Come out and tell us what's happening. Why is this happening?
Then we all go away. Oh, come out and support
the coach.
Speaker 5 (27:32):
I'm all the player for Dave Donnie. I'm not okay,
but I do want to say this. If it's a
football matter and we're talking football here, is that Dave
Donnie's responsibility as the CEO, I would say, yes, all.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
Right, we could talk about this or not.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
Let's get to something a bit more positive. And it's
your love affair with Mary and Nathan it continues.
Speaker 2 (27:55):
I thought it was.
Speaker 3 (27:57):
Talking about the Bulldogs.
Speaker 5 (27:58):
I was going to, like, I teach you that the
lovely Mary had done a podcast over there in Manchester
where she opens up on a long distance relationship and
the challenges that lie ahead and how she wants to
move back to Australia.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
It was fascinating, Braith. Really it brought out.
Speaker 5 (28:14):
My soft side, So you Ruffians don't get it. People
like me have a soft heart.
Speaker 2 (28:19):
The way you look the best bushes Dennis the bull from.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
Mary wants to come back, start a family. She wants
to adopt.
Speaker 5 (28:28):
She wants to have animals around the house, and Nathan
and Mary will be together.
Speaker 3 (28:32):
It's a much warming story.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
How many kids and godfather or.
Speaker 3 (28:36):
Of one of them the great day.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
If she wants a bulldog here he is right in.
Speaker 3 (28:42):
If she wants a dog, Mary wants to have three kids.
Speaker 5 (28:45):
Then they want to adopt siblings and they want to
live happily ever after.
Speaker 3 (28:48):
It's a beautiful story and you know what, they are
the most loved couple in Australian sport.
Speaker 2 (28:53):
Beautiful Okayan did a great job.
Speaker 3 (28:57):
Keagan and key legend.
Speaker 2 (28:58):
Is there a soccer comp for her to come and
play back here?
Speaker 5 (29:02):
It's not big enough Gordy and doesn't have the money
at the moment too. Ye, it's possible rumors which I
think we'll get too later on about Nathan and rugby.
Speaker 2 (29:13):
Union we're not going to get We don't have enough time.
Speaker 3 (29:16):
But stick around.
Speaker 1 (29:19):
Of the best football clubs in the world fight that
