It’s a dwelling, but it’s an asset class too - People buy property to live in it, and to grow their wealth in it. Since the early 1970’s, property values have doubled roughly every 7-10 years in many Western countries, including here in NZ. But sitting here in 2025, after watching at least 3 years of falling prices, it’s natural to wonder if the party’s over. Maybe whatever caused prices to rise for over 50 years really is starting to reverse. Before you do something foolish like sell it all and plough it all into something silly like Bitcoin, consider your own situation, and a range of perspectives first.
