What do you get when you ask Wes Craven, creator of 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' and 'Scream', to break away from his gory horror roots and direct a dark sci-fi thriller? You get test audiences who are so disappointed in the lack of violence in the movie that you then get him to do a bunch of reshoots that add in heaps of gory horror scenes! But what do you get when those new graphic reshoots are too graphic for censors, so you have to cut a bunch of it out? You get the movie 'Deadly Friend' from 1986!
