Speaker 1 (00:37):
Welcome to the Patriots Pregame Show fueled by Duncan.

Speaker 5 (00:43):
Then, the Patriots are on the road again in New Orleans,
hoping to get another win after that exciting one in
Buffalo last week. I have Paparolo, Mike do so I'm
quiet Lunas. We're really excited, of course, to get into
the game. There's so much to break down before their
potential you know, their matchup against New Orleans. But I
do want to start with you first, Paul too. Straight
now for the Patriots, what has stood out to you

(01:04):
about this team and the way that they've been playing over.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
I think there's a like a belief. That's the thing
that stands out to me the most. You know, you
can go individually and talk about Drake May's second half,
and in the last two weeks Stefon Diggs has taking
it to another level. But I just feel like overall,
there is a confidence that's developing, in a belief in
what they're doing. They're they're getting tangible results. So I

(01:27):
think it's very easy to buy into what Mike Rabel
is trying to sell, you know. And then in the
first five weeks I said that, like Mike would say,
and there's a believability. Uh, and that's good. Notice stress
the last couple of words. But I do I feel
like there's a belief in sort of a confidence that's
developing for a young team. I think that's enormously important.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (01:50):
I piggyback on that talking with Jack Gibbons a couple
of weeks ago, we had him in here, we interviewed
him and he said he got home from practice that
Friday and it's just saying to his wife, really good vibes,
a really good day at the office today. And I
think they've only continued to build on those good vibes,
and certainly when you win games, it reinforces what the
coach is selling. I like Mike Greece's a little bit
today about how they picked the weekly captains and Rabel

(02:10):
puts up high school highlights and everyone's footing in Holland.
So I think right now Mike Rabel is pushing the
right buttons. But this is another quality test on the road,
another you know, hostile environment. I know you don't think
of the Saints as the Bills and what Bill's mafia is.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
But still their fan base, it's good fan base. It's
loud down there.

Speaker 7 (02:26):
You know, everybody's down on Bourbon Street getting ready before
the game. So I think it's another great test, second
week in a row on the road for the Pats.

Speaker 5 (02:32):
And to that point, both of you just made they
have cleaned up a lot this season. Obviously we saw
all of that play out in Buffalo. But what has
changed for you specifically that has made the most impact
for this team.

Speaker 7 (02:42):
Thank you well right now is Drake made and Stefan
Digg's baking plays and that's really what I think got
them the win last week in Buffalo. But look, give
the defense credit for their run defense. I think they've
been really good upfront. I wasn't quite sure if I
was buying that early in the season. Sometimes get a
couple of games, it's somewhat circumstantial early in the season.
But last week they really showed me a lot against
James Cook and they'll have to continue it again today.

(03:04):
I think it's a huge part of this game is
you know, the Saints are looking to sustained drives, little
chunk plays here and there and get their way down
the field. I think the Patriots have to come up tackle,
you know, not give up big games in the run game.
For Spencer Rattler to continue to execute over and over again,
and I think they'll either stall out or force mistakes.

Speaker 5 (03:20):
Yeah, last week the New Orleans defense force five turnovers.
How do you foresee that.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
Don't do that, don't do that, don't do that. But
I mean that's the Giants.

Speaker 7 (03:30):
I mean, I know we're we're seeing a little bit
right now with the Jets and the Broncos playing where
special team's mistakes, you know, a safety things like that
that you don't really predict during the week that those
are the things that can pop up and really dramatically
affect a game, even if you feel like maybe on paper,
you're the more talented team.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
It's the biggest thing today. The Patriots. They can't they
can't hand this ball to the New Orleans. They can't
make it easier on them.

Speaker 5 (03:50):
Absolutely agree.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
Yeah, I mean you saw what the Giants did, like
Kwannie said, and that's the easiest way to keep the
underdog in the game is by turning the ball over.
The Patriots have cleaned that up and it's pretty pretty
clear line when they when Drake may is clean with
the football, they're three and zero. When he turns the
ball over, they're rowing two. So it seemed to be
a pretty simple way to ensure victory. Now that's a

(04:11):
lot easier said than done. Don't turn it over, thanks Paul, Right,
hold on.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
To the ball in three hundred pounds. Men are trying
to punch it out of your arms. It's not not
the easiest thing in the world.

Speaker 5 (04:20):
Well, here on the Patriots pregame Show, presented and fuels
by Duncan, we love our keys to the game, So
we're gonna get into that.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
You've waited all week for the whole teams in the
locker room right now, just listening to this, waiting to
hear what you're going to say.

Speaker 5 (04:33):
Here are this week's keys to the game. All right,
who's going first this week?

Speaker 2 (04:39):
You want me to go first?

Speaker 7 (04:40):
You can go fut A little tribute to our old host, Hardy,
who could not resist using jokes when we would do
our pregame.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
So my key in it all important height, no turnovers
by you?

Speaker 5 (04:51):
Ah, now I got the you got you picked up
the pun mantle.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
I love it.

Speaker 8 (04:55):
I know it.

Speaker 7 (04:56):
Party probably used it too much, but to me it's
I don't know if there fits for what I did there,
but let's just pretend it does.

Speaker 6 (05:03):
Don't let the New Orleans pass rushers get by you.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
There.

Speaker 7 (05:08):
It is so wait, we're gotta to keep the tradition,
and I will not. What did they lose by in
that game? I think Hardy was the I was four
the last time you're here. I think they did that.
But feeding into what I said at the top, you
can't turn the ball over today. You can't make this
one of those games like it was last week for
New Orleans. Uh you know where the Giants gave them
five turnovers in a row. New Orleans only had to

(05:30):
score one big touchdown. Otherwise it was all done with
their defense and special teams. So that to me is
just the most simple way to break it down today.
Drake may be smart with the football, you know, don't
try to force stuff that isn't there. You wonder if
he's kind of got a surge of confidence right now
and he thinks, hey, I can't go wrong anymore, and
maybe he tries to push it a little bit.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
I hope he doesn't.

Speaker 7 (05:50):
But I think that for the Patriots, if they don't
turn the ball over today, I think they got a
pretty good.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Chance of victory. Biggest key to me today, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
I mean, I think all three of us are very
similar in the sort of the meaning behind our keys.
Mine has just come to play, and it kind of
piggybacks off of what Mike said in the open. I
think that they made huge strides in, you know, finding
from week one to week five and going to Buffalo
and finding a way to beat the Bills on that
national stage. So don't just make it a one off,

(06:22):
you know, make sure that you get focused and now
last week you weren't quote unquote expected to win. This week,
you are expected to win, So show up accordingly and
come to play, come focused. Don't be remembering how good
you were last week. The difference between a lot of
teams and the really good ones their ability to to

(06:44):
do it again, repeat the performance. I think they're a
better team than New Orleans.

Speaker 6 (06:49):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
I'm not looking down my nose at the other team suddenly.
I mean, I remember in Week one the Patriots played
the Raiders and they lost, and they should have lost.
The Raiders were better that day. The Raiders players were
better and the Patriots players on the field. It wasn't
because the Patriots turned the ball over a million times.
They lost the game because the other team was better.
I'm not naive enough to think five weeks magically changes

(07:10):
all that, and now these teams are nowhere near their
level of ability. No, there's not that big of a
difference between New Orleans and the Patriots. I think the
Patriots are better, but it doesn't matter what we think.
The Patriots have to go out that show up, come
to play and improve it.

Speaker 7 (07:26):
What do they call the paul when they kick a
team down in soccer to let those relegation.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
So when you're in relegation, like you don't win one game,
you know you're out of relegation.

Speaker 7 (07:34):
Like you know, you're playing a fourth place schedule this year,
so you have to win all these games. We'll talk
about if they're out of that next year, and I
think that they have a very good chance to be.
But you know, acting like they've suddenly made it, they
got to continue to go out there and find some consistency.
It's been far too long, you know, since this team
has strung together multiple wins, three game win streak, four
game win streak, so one game at a time. I

(07:54):
think they understand that, and I'm pretty confident that Rabel's
preaching the right message to go down there and you know,
to Paul's point, come ready to play.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
I like a cross.

Speaker 5 (08:01):
Sport analogy, by the way, because I've always wondered if
a team was really bad in like the NBA NFL,
why don't we create, like put them in the G
League or something like we.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
Call it a fourth place schedule league in the NFL.
That's what it is. It's like, congratulations, you get to
play all the other fourth.

Speaker 7 (08:13):
Place teams, so you know, but look, that's what their
schedule is like this year, so take advantage of it.
A lot of times we see every year teams with
this fourth place schedule come out of nowhere make the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Patriots have that opportunity this year.

Speaker 5 (08:25):
Agree and Lake Paul said mine very similar, own the
new identity, and I love what you said, Paul about no,
don't remember how good you were because at the end
of the day, this we know the NFL is a
week to week basis, but understanding the momentum that the
past two wins has brought this team, I think it's
very important. We're looking at Drake may the completing over
sixty seven percent of his passes during that stretch passer

(08:46):
rating of ninety eight point six. He's showing that growth
that we talk about his connection with zep On Diggs,
and that's gonna be what's needed to keep this offense
moving and get these wins that they're hoping to get.

Speaker 7 (08:55):
Yeah, I mean I go to what Stefan dig said
this week Wednesday, hearing from him weekly from his Life
talker and said, I think this week might even be
a bigger challenge us for.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
You know, to sustain it.

Speaker 7 (09:04):
We all know what Buffalo is, we know their division rival,
and we also know that Stefan Diggs was very focused
and locked in last week. So for him to be
saying that and leading that example as a guy who,
no question, he might have had a little extra juice
last week, but for them to bring that same juice
this week would be the sign of a team that's
that's a good team you developing it.

Speaker 5 (09:22):
The Bills clearly didn't take that matchup as seriously as
they probably should have. So similarly, they can't downplay in
New Orleans either, them coming off of a win that
they desperately needed last week.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
No question, no question. And I mean you've seen.

Speaker 7 (09:33):
Look, they've got some talent on their roster. They've got
some old guys that are still.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
Hanging in there.

Speaker 7 (09:37):
And you know, like like we were just talking about
last time, saying, the Saints, who are up here, they handled.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
It to the Patriots pretty good. So we'll see what
they got today.

Speaker 6 (09:46):
Yeah, we probably should mention I was any Christian.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
Start is active, and you know, I know that he
was listening to his questionable kind of an interesting situation
during the course of the week, Mike, with him being
a full go, not even on the injury report on
Wednesday and last week, and on Wednesday and then on Thursday,
he shows up as being limited was limited again on Friday,
and I think Mike Rabel sort of lent some legitimacy

(10:18):
to that on in his Friday press conference by saying
that he would work out before the game and that's
when they would make the final determination. Well, he evidently
made it through that workout pregame and he's going to
be good to go today.

Speaker 6 (10:29):
He's up. As they like to say.

Speaker 2 (10:31):
In football parla. Yes, our kids are using these very.

Speaker 3 (10:35):
Similar as or as my uncle Joe would say them,
they're a simular. So I would say that's a really
good sign for the Patriots. And you just saw the
look at the list of the inactives. Jalen Hawkins and
Anthony Jennings, key On White all declared out on Friday,
but Eric Gregory and Kayden Wallace are the two that
are added along with Tommy DeVito is the emergency quarterback.

(10:56):
So that means Kwannie Yes, Drum was champion. Terrell Jennings no.

Speaker 5 (11:07):
About them all.

Speaker 3 (11:09):
He will make you well, don't get too excited. He
will make his debut, we think, at least.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
On the sidelines.

Speaker 9 (11:14):
Uh.

Speaker 7 (11:15):
But there is a lot to dive into with some
of these people who are out. Jalen Hawkins last week
was on the injury pour with the hamstring. Somehow was
able to play against Buffalo. He hasn't really participated much
this week. He's going to be out as you know,
you're one of your starting two safeties. Does that put
Kyle Dugger in the mix or del Pettis? You know,
Kyle Dugger played like I think four or five snapslot,

(11:36):
I mean not a lot at all, so way his
role was trending downward. Is he ready to jump right
back in? Is del Pettis ready? I'm not sure exactly
how that's all.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
Going to play out.

Speaker 7 (11:44):
I think probably when we see warm up here in
a second, you might get an idea. But then also
talk about the edge with both White and Anthony Jennings
being out. So you know, Truman Jones, who Mike Abel
spoke very highly of this week, said, you know, I'm
not allowed to have favorites, but if I did, he'd
be he'd be close to the list. Another guy who
kind of popped this summer and all of a sudden
when we got into the Harvard preseason. Yeah, Harvard, kidd,

(12:05):
he's you know, getting a little bit more run than
you would have thought the you know, Braden Swinson was
a draft pick he thought. But Truman Jones apparently he
fits what they're trying to do. So we'll see, Yeah,
Calavon Chase on his back. So you have your two
top defensive ends in. But I think there'll be opportunities
for you know, somebody like Truman Jones made to rush
the passer a little bit on third down and the
last one just to say, it sounds like Bill Williams

(12:27):
is active but dealing with an illness which popped up
early more early this morning.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
Does it pop up on the injury report and they
announced it this morning?

Speaker 6 (12:34):
Is it the Bayou Blues?

Speaker 7 (12:37):
I will say, of all the players, I don't think
Milton Williams seems like the weast like last right, but
but you know that it is that cold and flu season,
is you I love this?

Speaker 2 (12:47):
Uh?

Speaker 7 (12:47):
So, you know, just some interesting things there on on
the defensive side of the ball that they're going to
have to figure out at edge and starting safety, two
significant positions.

Speaker 5 (12:54):
So offensively though we know last week Antonio Gibson going
on I right now as a result unfortunately that he's
an ending ACL tear. But we were talking about running
backs in post game last week, who do you feel
as though can be can take on this load?

Speaker 7 (13:07):
H That's another great question because we know Ramandra Stevenson.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
You'd love him to be the lead back.

Speaker 7 (13:11):
Is he Are they ready to hand that back to
him and give him, you know, twenty twenty five thirty
carries today. Paul and I've been talking all week about
Terrell Jennings, who two summers ago. Uh, you know, last
summer I should say was I don't know, kind of impressive.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
It wasn't. He didn't do anything crazy, but he ran
the ball a few times in the preseason's hard.

Speaker 6 (13:27):
He seems like a hard nosey.

Speaker 3 (13:29):
Now, yeah, when he's had his chances, you know, I
mean it's generally been late.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
Got promoted one game last year.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
Yeah, we have averaged under three yards of carry. But
he seems like he's a physical guy. Mike and I
kind of liked him, like his style, but you know,
I don't and I don't expect him to have a huge
role in this game. But you can't go into a
game with only two running backs, so something were to
happen one of them, you know, obviously, it's.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
Like no matter what happens, it's going to be interesting.

Speaker 7 (13:55):
Either it's Remandre getting the full you know, lead back
kind of carriage carries and then Trevon Henderson maybe is
your third down back.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
Recent years they've had running back injuries.

Speaker 7 (14:04):
You've seen them deal with a with a smaller unit there,
smaller rosters size at that position group. But if Romandri
gets a ton of carries, if Cherrel Jennings gets a few,
it's it's going to be a new look there.

Speaker 2 (14:15):
And as well as speaking the.

Speaker 5 (14:18):
All Whites today, Chism the man of the people warming up.

Speaker 3 (14:21):
First time that they've won the All Whites since that
Thursday night Tampa Bay game, if I'm not mistaken, which
don't ask me what year that was, because.

Speaker 2 (14:29):
I don't seventeen I believe, I believe.

Speaker 3 (14:32):
But what I'm interested in here as we watch Kyle
Williams and Terrell Jennings and now reminder Stevenson with Chisholm,
did one of these guys get an opportunity to return
kicks alongside of Trevon Henderson Because I wouldn't expect Chism
is going to be part of the offense, but he
where he could factor in is you know, do they

(14:52):
want to put him next to Henderson on the kick
return unit. They I think teams seem to be kicking
away from Henderson a little bit, so you might want
to have someone else over there. I don't know if
that Kyle Williams.

Speaker 2 (15:05):
Would be the back there too.

Speaker 6 (15:07):
He would be the choice for me.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
I think he handled a lot of kicks during the
summer Chism as well, so I think those guys are
both options.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
Yeah, just hang on. All these new guys touching the ball,
I want to make sure.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
Hopefully they'll only get one chance anyway, right right, just
to kick off. You're going to kick off because we're
going to shut him out.

Speaker 2 (15:29):
That would certainly be you well, good walked hard into
that one.

Speaker 5 (15:35):
We actually just got a question because is active with
Chism being active, do you think this is the game
where Williams and chishm get involved more in the offense,
Like you just said, I predict this game will be
three in a row for the Patriots, winning easily twenty
eight to ten. That's Kyle and Pembroke John hendricks on
the one. Oh sorry, we'll get too straight to him,
all right. We're gonna time now, of course for behind

(15:57):
enemy lines It's brought to you by Pepsi. Game day
is here, So stock up now, grab a refreshing Pepsi
zero sugar twelve back right now, because tailgating deserves better.
All right, we're welcoming in now our behind Enemy Lines guests,
John Hendricks from New Orleans Football. Well, thank you. I
thought he was facing timing as well. Welcome in, John.

Speaker 9 (16:18):
Hey, how y'all doing today?

Speaker 5 (16:19):
We're doing well. Thank you for calling in.

Speaker 9 (16:22):
Absolutely thanks for having me.

Speaker 5 (16:24):
So we were just talking about the Patriot not the Patriots,
the Saints. They came off this win last week against
the Giants, five turnovers in that game, really kind of
getting their defense going. But what exactly do you predict
this matchup will be for them coming off of that
win and knowing that they are hungry as we can see,
to keep getting more.

Speaker 9 (16:43):
Yeah, look, I think you look at a few things
on here. They get a little bit of help back
with their offensive line, so they get Sezar Ruiz back
in the lineup, so that should help out a good bit.
They want to control the games on the ground, that's
really the kind of their mantra. And you know, Spitzer
Ratler has done a good job with you know, playing
mistake bringing such, but really where they have to get
better as the red zone. They were h three last week.

(17:07):
They just didn't capitalize on all the turnovers they did get.
But you know, there's a few things that they can
do defensively to shore some things up. They got to
get a pass rush. Getting Chase Young back in the
lineup's definitely gonna be a big deal. But for me,
you know, I think they righted this momentum. They got
a big, you know thing off their back last week
with Kellen Moore and Stitzer Ratler getting their first wins
of their career. So I think it kind of can continue.

(17:29):
It just depends on how Ratler matches up against Mike
Bravell's defense.

Speaker 7 (17:35):
Just along those lines. This summer, you had a quarterback
competition there. What have you seen from you know, Spencer
Ratler to win that competition and then.

Speaker 2 (17:42):
What is he carried over here into the regular season.

Speaker 9 (17:46):
I think he's been the same guy. You know. I
think he had a lot of learning last year, and
he went into the off season. He set a little
bit of time off, not much, but he got to work.
And then when he had all the Derek Carr stuff,
come out. You know, he was the guy that embraced
every thing and just kind of went to work and said, hey,
I'm going to be that guy. And you know, it
was always a thing where he was going to be
the guy until he wasn't. And I think he did

(18:09):
enough in camp. I think think he did enough for preseason.
I think he did everything he could to earn, you know,
Kellen Moore's trust and to get the trust of that
locker room. I mean, he's the guy. You look at
how happy they were for him in this first win.
They know how much preparation he brings in to the
table and what he's able to do. You know, very underrated,
and I'd say he's not going to flash you like

(18:30):
a you know, Josh Allen or anything like that. But
he's the guy that can play at the level and
he's not going to back down from a challenge. I
think that's the thing I appreciate and respect most about him,
is that he's not afraid to go up there and
just battle whatever is in front of him.

Speaker 3 (18:46):
John some of the numbers you know from New Orleans
aren't great, but then you look at the scores of
the games and aside from that, one in Seattle. They've
all been pretty competitive. What has allowed them to stay
closer despite seemingly on paper anyway getting out played. What's
been the key for them hanging around in these games?

Speaker 9 (19:04):
Yeah, look at Seattle, they definitely just weren't prepared. And
I like how they responded against the Bills, and I
don't know that was a little bit interesting. I everybody
gave him what I guess, the fourteen and a half
point favorite, But they played hard against the Cardinals, they
played hard against the forty nine ers, So I was really,
you know, encouraged by that. And I think that's the
biggest thing, is the competitiveness and just not quitting. Is

(19:25):
really what has been a staplest team is you've got
a guys that can make some adjustments and that they're
not going to get down on themselves or tune out
of the game or anything. We're going to continue battling.
And I think that's what we saw last year down
the stretch too, when Darren Rizzy was the internead coaches.
I think they just wouldn't quit. And even if it
is not so favorable on the sport board, this is
just a team that you just can't sleep on completely

(19:46):
because I feel like they'll they'll rally, they'll figure out
a way and once they capture some momentum, they can
capitalize on it. And that's what makes them a little
bit dangerous in my opinion, is the fact that you know,
you just you might think you have them a little bit,
but you can't let up.

Speaker 7 (19:59):
Against this John Brandon Staley really well respected defensive coordinator.
I just want to ask you, you know, how is his
system kind of taking hold there with the mix of
veterans that you have along with you know, some of
these newer players koole A McKinstry really stood out to
me as well as Brian Berci. Seems like two young
guys who are making a bit of an impact there
on the defense.

Speaker 8 (20:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (20:17):
Look, it was a little bit slow going. You know,
they had some problems getting off the field on third down,
giving us some third and longs, third and tens and
third and thirteens. I mean, it was just not a
consistent product. But you said it, and Brandon say, very
well respected. I think they're just trying to continue to
settle in because everybody's got to remember they swapped from
a four to three to three four this year, and
so there's a lot of different looks that they'll give you.

(20:39):
They'll play a lot of nickel, having Pete Warner and
to Marie Davis on the field. I mean, really where
they have to get better as the pass rush. You know,
I don't know that getting Chase Young back in the
lineup single handedly fits that, but I know he had
a lot of pressures last year. It was over sixty
last season, so I expect him to kind of ramp
up a little bit. But you've got to key continue

(20:59):
to watch guys like over Anderson, Ken Jordan's and then
that back end. You know, kool Aid McKinstry had a
really good game to did he needed and I think
that with him and quit to Riley, who's a rookie,
he's going to see a lot of time on the
field today. Look, they've got some some younger guys that
are seeing a lot more playing time, and I think
with time and with playing time, they're only going to

(21:20):
get better.

Speaker 6 (21:21):
John we haven't seen as much.

Speaker 3 (21:23):
I mean, obviously we're all familiar with Alvin Kamara, but
we haven't seen this much from Ken dre Miller and
from what I've been reading this week. It sounds like
you guys and I feel like he may be emerging
as sort of the league guy. What have you seen
from Miller to allow you to feel that way.

Speaker 9 (21:40):
He kind of reminds me of Alvin Kamara in his
first year. Is you know, he's had some injury problems,
He's had some issues with the coaching staff in the past,
that was the old regime. But he got a blank slate,
clean slate. He's a guy that's a tough runner. He
can run north south, east west and he's really tough
to bring down him in. His balance is incredible and
so I and I'd like to see him get more involved.

(22:01):
You know, they can get him involved in the passing
game as well, but he's just one of those that
just continues to fall forward. You know, we talked to
do a show with Lance Moore. He's a former player
in this league, played a long time Super Bowl champion,
and he said he reminds him a lot of Pierre
Thomas if the fans remember him, and so that's kind
of his play style. But you know, I would expect
him case of Hill to get more involved. Only nine

(22:24):
snaps last week, I expect enough to tick there as
they get him back to form. But you know, Miller
is a guy that I keep an eye on. He's
he's tough to bring down and you let him get
some space in front of him, It's going to be
a long day, John.

Speaker 5 (22:38):
Overall, what matchups do you anticipate that New England will
be trying to exploit as we look forward to the
game in an hour less than an hour at.

Speaker 9 (22:46):
This point, Yeah, look, I think it's there's going to
have their hands full of Drake May. I think that's
the biggest thing is is Drake Main's been very, very
good with the football. He's not been taking a lot
of you know, shots or anything that he needs to
be the succeed here. I mean, this is a guy
that I feel like is really coming into his own

(23:07):
and so I think it's can the Saints get after him?
Because they got that clock in there over the quarterbacks
that where they get the ball out really quickly. So
I really see if this front can They're they're doing
better against the run for sure as opposed to last year.
But you know, multile quarterbacks guys that can you know,
get out of the pocket. That is something that I
think make can exploit a little bit today. I'm looking

(23:29):
at that. And then on the other side, you know,
kind of the New England and Corners match up against
the Saints receivers. Rashiki he is somebody that's uh, you know,
started a little bit slow, not on the same page
as Rattler, but I think he's somebody obviously had a
really great game last week. You know, can they the
isolate him a little bit and prevent the deep play
deep shots. Thanks haven't been taken a lot of those shots,

(23:51):
but when they do, they get to Look, he's the guy.
So I'm interested to see that. And then just Rattler
against Rabel's defense in general. I mean this is obviously
well respected, the fitness of mine in this league, and
Keim versus Tellimore, it's gonna be a good chess match
to watch.

Speaker 5 (24:05):
Well, John, quickly, before we go, we have to ask
you a prediction. What are you taking?

Speaker 9 (24:10):
Yeah, look, I'm the only one on my network I
took the Saints this week. I took them twenty to
twenty four. I'm buying the kool aid so bacon, So
everybody else picked against me, So.

Speaker 5 (24:19):
We'll see if you're right. Thank you so much, John,
all Right, guys, Thank you all.

Speaker 6 (24:24):
Thanks Sean, Thanks Sean.

Welcome back into the Patriots Pregame Show fueled by Duncan
Papillo and Mike Dusau are still here with me. I'm
Kawanni Lunas, and like we mentioned the Patriots, as you
can see on the screen right now, they are in
New Orleans trying to get three in a row, and
of course the Saints trying to get another one under
their belt after a win last week against New York.
But this is exciting.

Speaker 2 (28:57):
I got to say that went over the New York
I know it hurts you.

Speaker 5 (29:00):
No, it's okay. You know, I'm fully converted now.

Speaker 2 (29:03):
Took three weeks now, that's uh. Yeah.

Speaker 7 (29:07):
There's Drake clean, looking pretty clean the white UNI so
that we'll see how they playing them today.

Speaker 5 (29:13):
Do you have a tab of the record in each uniform?

Speaker 2 (29:15):
Secretly one if it was hoodies?

Speaker 6 (29:17):
I do, of course, he already.

Speaker 2 (29:21):
My new thing is like you know the rabel, like
what is the vest, what's the armsleeve? Collar? You know,
so we're we're we're monitoring that situation. I don't know
if it's worthy of the whole database spreadsheet already embarrassing. See, well,
you know which want sure we get it right? You
know we get it right.

Speaker 7 (29:35):
I mean, if he's undefeated in the red sleeves, where's
the blue? Someone has to keep it right.

Speaker 3 (29:39):
I'm still allow him to hang out with me. But
it is, it's rather embarrassing.

Speaker 2 (29:43):
Your little it is. It is tiny, tiny bit, tiny bit.

Speaker 5 (29:47):
All right, Well we're getting called in already, of course,
our faithful Patty, and am gonna queue you up first, Patty.

Speaker 9 (29:56):
I believe what's going on?

Speaker 13 (29:57):
Everyone? Hello, hey, leave, The Patriots are want to know
when these in these unis and the Buccaneers in two
thousand and seven on a Thursday night Color Rush game.

Speaker 7 (30:09):
Oh no, technically those are the old uniforms. But I guess, Mike,
I'm not sure they've ever won the No, thank you.
I would agree with Mike on that one, So.

Speaker 9 (30:24):
I just I would.

Speaker 13 (30:25):
I would hope today that the Patriots defense doesn't get
LOLd asleep because Rattler and this offense. If you if
you've watched these guys, they like to uh, they don't
really really like pushing the ball. Down the field. But
I mean, if if they get the defense cheating up
and looking for that short stuff. You saw what happened
with that big play to Rashid Shaheed last week. So my,

(30:46):
my big keys, just don't get loaded of sleep and
go after these guys because their line hasn't really been good.
I know Calvin Banks played really good last week, but
and they're getting Ruiz back, but they should be able
to get after these guys today. And I hope does
matter if they win ugly or if they win big.
I just want to win. Let's got outam and Rowins
and get onto the next game.

Speaker 4 (31:05):
Baby.

Speaker 3 (31:06):
Yeah, I think that's the bottom line. You don't want
to be one of those teams. I said this to
Fred during the week. You don't want to be one
of those teams that won their Super Bowl in the
middle of the regular season. You know, you want to
stack wins together and continue to build on the promising
start here under the Rabel regime.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
Yeah, I mean, I just I like the aggressive attacking
style of the Patriots defense have been preaching since, you know,
since Mike Rabel got here, and I think that that's
a little bit more maybe helpful to avoid those kind
of games where you can't really sit back.

Speaker 7 (31:36):
You got to go get the quarterback. But you know,
I'm really interested to see Milton Williams. Is he limited?
Is he not feeling great? Are they going to have
to rotate? You know, somebody like Corey Durdin in a
little bit more. You know Farmer as well, Josh Farmer,
another guy who saw a little bit of an uptick
and playing time. Kiris Tong has been really good. So
you know, I think in a perfect world you'd able
to start fast, get a little bit of a lead,

(31:57):
and then you know you can feel okay about managing
Williams a little bit more. Maybe you do Getterrell Jennings
some touches, or Offton Chishom, some of these new guys,
you know, Truman Jones, get him some snaps.

Speaker 2 (32:07):
That'd be great to be able to do that.

Speaker 7 (32:09):
But you know, like Paul said, they've lost their first
two home games that they lost at home or one
score games. They're shooting to the end zone in the
first one and the second one they stalled them on midfield.
So you know, both of those games require defensive stops.
So I wouldn't go into this game assuming anything. They
better be ready to play today because there's a good
chance this one.

Speaker 2 (32:25):
Could come in.

Speaker 3 (32:26):
They're always three and a half point favorites. Yeah, so
it's not like they're a double digit r Just.

Speaker 2 (32:32):
Take care of business.

Speaker 3 (32:33):
Yeah, this is the Patriots need to be ready to play.

Speaker 5 (32:37):
Yeah, and we didn't talk that much about Alvin Kamara
being you know, available in this game as well. How
do you want the defensive approach him?

Speaker 2 (32:45):
I mean, I'm not sure he's still the same player.

Speaker 7 (32:46):
I mean he looks like the same guy, which is
just you look at him and you're like, oh, there's Alvin Kamara,
NFL superstar.

Speaker 2 (32:51):
You know, he has lost a little bit of a step,
you know.

Speaker 7 (32:54):
I think you, like Paul said, Miller, might be the real,
you know, the guy that maybe they try.

Speaker 2 (32:58):
To get loose.

Speaker 7 (32:59):
But generally I think it's just tackle, you know, come up,
make tackles, force them to execute continually. And I think
Patty had a good point of you know, if you
do allow them to make some chunk plays and start
to get their confidence going, you know, then it could
go the other way and you need to really start
to stem the bleeding there with the guys up front.
So I just I trust Christian Barmore, Milt Williams. If

(33:20):
those guys are able to go. They've been getting after
the quarterback pretty much all year, So you got to
lean on those guys and let them kind of dictate
what Spencer Raler does today.

Speaker 3 (33:30):
Yeah, that's going to be interesting to me how much
they're able to do that, you know, how much they're
able to disrupt Rattler.

Speaker 6 (33:36):
I mean, I just rattle on paper.

Speaker 3 (33:39):
It just looks like they're doing a lot of quick
short throws, balls out fast. The completion percentage is high,
but there's no yards there. So do you just rally
to the ball and tackle, which I think they've done
a better job of the last couple of weeks after
really struggling that department the first few. So continue to
do that, keep everything in front, and then, like Patty said,

(34:02):
just keep an eye on she heat make sure he
doesn't get over the top.

Speaker 6 (34:05):
Lave too right.

Speaker 3 (34:05):
But I just feel like alv is the volume guy,
so I don't think they send him on a lot
of go routes.

Speaker 6 (34:10):
She heeds the burner.

Speaker 3 (34:11):
So that's the one way I think New Orleans could
figure out a way to get, you know, stay in
this game. Is to make some big plays, and they
haven't got They haven't gotten a lot of big plays.
Patriots have given up more than they should.

Speaker 2 (34:23):
So and keep an eye on the New Orleans.

Speaker 12 (34:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (34:26):
Side of that, keep an eye on Christian Zalez too.

Speaker 7 (34:28):
You know, is he I mean, if if it is
a little tender or whatever, you know, if he's we're
still kind of working through it.

Speaker 2 (34:33):
I mean, in the perfect world, he'd be able to
get him side.

Speaker 3 (34:36):
And then the guy who's sort of replaced, uh, you
know when Alex Austin struggled, it was Charles Woods. You know,
our boy Chucky Trees. He's been dealing with a knee injury.
He's active in the game, but he's you know, he
popped up on the injury report as well, so he
may not be one hundred percent.

Speaker 6 (34:53):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (34:54):
Gonzales, my guess is going to be going to be
able to go, and as long as this game is competitive,
I think he'll.

Speaker 5 (34:59):
Be a There have you two liked what you've been
seeing from Gonzales. I know we have a very small
sample size at this point, but.

Speaker 7 (35:04):
I would say he's still working his way back to
what he was, you know, and nothing overly bad, just
you can tell that he's not quite there where he was.

Speaker 2 (35:13):
But the thing that stuck out to me last.

Speaker 7 (35:15):
Week with Christian Zalez was just you know, sometimes you
talk about guys being fast and you think about, well
he can just run away from people. Well, Christian Zalez,
it's like his speed is makeup speed, so that if
he does take a minor false step or you know,
they get him a little bit on a fake, he's
so able to just make up for that and get
back into interface with the receiver. It's, you know, really

(35:36):
one of like the underrated parts of like speed. You
don't really think of it that way, but I think
for him that's a big part of it. And you know,
I gotta highlight Marcus Jones too. I just thought was
excellent last week and not the biggest bunch of receivers here,
as we never mentioned the top three for the Saints.
I think it's it's a pretty good matchup for Marcus Jones.
He's not going to get you know, outclassed with size.

Speaker 2 (35:53):
They don't have, you know, the kind of size that
we've seen sometimes where teams try to take advantage of that.
Last week, you know, with Keyon Coleman be an example,
where you know, he.

Speaker 7 (36:01):
Was really competitive with it. But I think these guys
at least match up well with Marcus Jones. So if
they do need to lean a little bit more into
Marcus Jones, I don't think it'd be the end of
the world if it was Higgins aalz Is out for
a bit.

Speaker 2 (36:11):
Let's just play Marcus Jones and and Davis is the
top two.

Speaker 5 (36:15):
All right, we're gonna take it out to Nate in Connecticut.
Good afternoon, Nate doing, Nate feeling good?

Speaker 4 (36:24):
Not much so.

Speaker 8 (36:26):
Of course, the big news around the Patriots today is
some Chisholm being active. Yeah, of course, of course, you
know he's active. Doesn't necessarily mean he's gonna get a
whole lot of snaps. But if he does, I'm probably
anticipating something that like we saw in like the preseason games,
So probably a bit of slot and you know, some

(36:49):
extra curricular you know, maybe on the outside a bit
or kick returns. What did What do you guys think
this means for Pop and his position, because he's been
primarily the slock guy for us, and you know, with
the produced snaps and you know, him not getting really
able to fit into the offense. The past a couple

(37:11):
of weeks. You know what, what what does that do
for him? And uh, yeah, that's my question. And just
on a side note, glad you guys are in the
studio and not watching the Jets Broncos game.

Speaker 2 (37:23):
We're watching. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, it's it's ugly, it's ugly.

Speaker 3 (37:30):
Evidently I missed some good clock management stuff at the
end of the first half though. I've got a lot
of mentions on my on Twitter, people wondering if if
Aaron Glenn went to the Paul Parlo clock management.

Speaker 2 (37:41):
Obviously not he needs to sign up.

Speaker 7 (37:44):
Uh well, Nate, in regards to your question, I'm not
sure it means anything towards Pop Douglas right now.

Speaker 2 (37:49):
It really might just be more towards their returners are
being receiver. So far it's been it's been pop, it's
been pop. Uh. But we'll see what it is used
to do today.

Speaker 7 (38:00):
I mean, and I guess i'd kind of posit this
question for Paul, like, you know, just speaking generally, if
you had a young player receiver returner, that rookie, you
want to get involved, you want to get his feet wet.

Speaker 2 (38:11):
Is better to try to get his feet wet.

Speaker 7 (38:13):
On offense as a receiver, or do you feel comfortable
getting his feet wet as a returner? I mean I could.
I think it may be. I'm leaning a little more
towards the returner side, but I don't know if there's
a preferable way.

Speaker 3 (38:22):
I just felt like if he was active today because
they want to get his feet wet, then I would
say maybe as much as you can. But I think
he's active today out of necessity. Like they have all
these guys around the they were all declared out Friday.
There's like two guys, Hayden Wallace extra lineman and Eric
Gregory I think is the other one. So I'm not

(38:44):
if he if they wanted to get his feet wet
on offense, he would have been active before. Now they
have five receivers been active every game. He's the sixth.
I would guess that if he plays today, he's going
to get a chance to be on the kick return unit.
And I can't tell you how many it's. Bill Belichick
used to say, if you can, if you have a
role on game day, and whatever that role is, might

(39:06):
allow you to expand that by getting some opportunities elsewhere.

Speaker 6 (39:10):
So if you're the kick returner and you're out there.

Speaker 3 (39:14):
They might look and say, well, let's see if we
can find a way to get him on the offense
somewhere and see if he can give us a spark
like you said, you know, like with the ball in
his hands as a runner in the preseason. You know,
he did some good things in that Minnesota game. Maybe
you give him a snap here or there. I mean,
Kyle Williams got more than ten snaps in the game.

(39:34):
He's the fifth receiver, do you know what I mean.
So now you're looking for a sixth receiver to get
a role. Like I said, if he can be a
kick returner, and then maybe they figure out, well he's
active as well, using somewhere else.

Speaker 6 (39:49):
You know, we'll see.

Speaker 5 (39:50):
Eat the bodies. All right, Well, it's time now for
our favorite part of the show. Over and Unders, brought
to you by Aaron. They're the official lawnmower of the
New England Patriots and they're probably hell Patriots fans get
back to football. You can visit them right now at www.
Dot Errands dot com to find your errand So the
downfload of dawn fall of Paulparillo in the Over Unders. Unfortunately, continues,

(40:12):
but let's take a look at the numbers fall.

Speaker 6 (40:15):
Yeah, yeah, ah, that's why they wanted the head Truth hurts,
Truth hurts.

Speaker 5 (40:19):
Right there, dudes coming in hot, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (40:21):
Those are the standing from last week. Those Mike just like,
come on.

Speaker 6 (40:25):
Right me again? Why why?

Speaker 2 (40:28):
Why am I so good?

Speaker 3 (40:29):
So Kwannie however, right in the middle has the season
lead at eighteen and twelve, followed by Mike at seventeen
and thirteen, and Loser Boy is eleven.

Speaker 5 (40:38):
And nineteen and he's calling himself loser man.

Speaker 6 (40:42):
I went one in five.

Speaker 5 (40:43):
I was winter.

Speaker 3 (40:45):
Did you say earlier relegation round?

Speaker 5 (40:48):
Well, we can't relegate on the pregame.

Speaker 3 (40:50):
And I'm getting all kinds of static from my head
shot that I sent in because you.

Speaker 6 (40:54):
Do all their work and it doesn't even look like you,
like it looks like me. I mean, that's me. Pass anyway.
I'm not happy I'm in last place.

Speaker 5 (41:04):
It's okay. I think you still have a chance.

Speaker 2 (41:07):
Just keep believing in yourself.

Speaker 5 (41:08):
All right, We're gonna start now with Drake May passing
guards two hundred and forty and a half.

Speaker 2 (41:15):
Right, all right, I'm gonna start us off. I'm gonna
get crazy.

Speaker 7 (41:20):
I'm gonna go under just because I think they're going
to keep things underneath, and I think it's gonna be
more of a balanced game today, not a big Drake game.

Speaker 3 (41:27):
So I do think they're going to try to get
that running game going. There's a lot of talk about
the running game, and generally when that happens in NFL circles,
you see a commitment to it. In game day, Rabel's
made some mentions to they feel like they're really close,
and you know those those X players that really, you know,
sway it.

Speaker 6 (41:46):
I love that, I really sway the numbers.

Speaker 3 (41:49):
You get one one big chunk run play and then
you know, get puts the average up and everything. I'm
still skeptical. I'm gonna go with the over on Drake
May I still think the offense needs to go through him.

Speaker 6 (42:02):
I'll take the over.

Speaker 5 (42:03):
I'm taking the over as well, because when you said
the run, they want to emphasize the running. I understand that,
but I think after last week, that connection with Diggs
and really getting that offense going, I want to see
more passing from Drake. So we'll see.

Speaker 2 (42:16):
That's fine. My feelings at all.

Speaker 5 (42:18):
This one might make her break if we're tired or not.
Next week? All right, up next to you have Drake
maybe passing dds one and a half pp.

Speaker 6 (42:28):
I'm going to take the over on that one too.
He didn't throw any last week.

Speaker 3 (42:31):
I think he makes up for that one in the doom.

Speaker 5 (42:36):
I'm going to take the ooh, I'll take the over
on that as well. And I'm not copying you, by
the way.

Speaker 3 (42:42):
It certainly seems that way, but I don't know why
anybody would want to. I'm eleven and nineteen.

Speaker 6 (42:46):
Hey, I'm going to keep it going.

Speaker 2 (42:47):
I'm going to say under. He throws just one and
there's a couple of rushing touchdowns, so there it is,
all right.

Speaker 5 (42:52):
Keeping the balance all right. Up next to Kashan Boody
receiving yards, I'm first on this one, twenty five and
a half. I'm going to take him with the over.
Let's get some booty.

Speaker 2 (43:03):
Yeah, I like that. I like that. I think that's
like to him, that's like two catches. Yeah, that's like
two catches, like a fourteen fifteen yards. So I'm going
to say I'm gonna take the over two on booty.

Speaker 6 (43:11):
Yeah, I like the over on this.

Speaker 3 (43:13):
I think Mike Rabel has been very cognizant of his
individual players and their backgrounds and where they're from. And
I think Kaysehan Boody played at l you grew up
near New Orleans.

Speaker 6 (43:28):
But they allow him to. They allow him to after
a correct up.

Speaker 5 (43:37):
Next, we talked.

Speaker 2 (43:38):
About Oh yeah, Kamara, it's forty and a half. I'm
going under on that. Yeah, those receiving yards. I might
be tempted, but I think he's uh. I think they'll
keep him in check on the ground.

Speaker 6 (43:50):
I totally agree with Mike. I think he is.

Speaker 3 (43:53):
And I love Alvin Kamara. I think he's a terrific player.
I'm going to go with the under on this one.
I think it's the Kendre Miller time and on ones.

Speaker 5 (44:01):
I'm gonna take the over just for the drama of
it all.

Speaker 2 (44:04):
Love the drama.

Speaker 5 (44:05):
I love the drama. I think it's so spicy, right
all right, longest td yrs thirty four and a half,
Oh boys, Paul.

Speaker 3 (44:13):
The longest td RS thirty four and a half. I'm
gonna take the under on that one. I've been missing
on these quite frequently, but I'm gonna take the under.

Speaker 5 (44:23):
I'm gonna take the over over, Yeah, I'll take the over.

Speaker 2 (44:27):
I'm gonna go with Paul on the under. I think
I think Patriots will keep it in front of them.
And then I'm not sure Drake's gonna chuck one today,
so I'll go under.

Speaker 5 (44:34):
I don't know, You're right all up in the air
at this point. Yeah, alright, finally, total score forty six
and a half.

Speaker 2 (44:40):
I gotta do math real quick to make sure you up.

Speaker 5 (44:43):
I oh, that's I have to do math too. I
guess I'm gonna take the over, take over. I don't
know why this is offensive. Envy the game to me.

Speaker 2 (44:50):
Yeah, I'm gonna go I'm gonna go under on this one.

Speaker 3 (44:54):
Okay, Mike is predicting your riveting game all under his
explication bodies twenty five and a half.

Speaker 2 (45:03):
One day play.

Speaker 3 (45:04):
It'll be exciting, so I'm going to take the under
as well. Mostly it's because I don't feel like New
Orleans has much firepow.

Speaker 2 (45:13):
Right, all right, there we go.

Speaker 5 (45:15):
We'll see how we all do this week. All right.

Speaker 3 (45:19):
It's an interesting game though, because of it's a good gauge.
I know that the word gauge was used a lot
last week for the Buffalo game, but I think this
one is a gauge of your progress as much as
any any game. And that's not because I think New
Orleans is, you know, so much behind the Patriots. I
think the Patriots are trying to emerge from that group,

(45:42):
you know, in the lower half of the league and
try to get themselves into the upper half of the league. Right,
This is a good gauge to see if you've done it,
if you have some maturity. It's a really young roster.
I think it averages roughly over twenty six years of age.
It's one of the youngest rosters in the league. This
is a maturity game. Guys like this is do you

(46:02):
take prosperity and do you benefit from it or are
you sort of, you know, limited by it in some way.
I think you can get sort of busy reading your
press clippings and whatnot and get tied up in that.

Speaker 6 (46:17):
But you can't. You can't.

Speaker 3 (46:18):
You have to go out and play a good football
game today. Now, if they don't win it, but they
play really well, it'll be disappointing. But if they lose
this game and it's because of the way the Giants
lost last game, I'll be really disappointed because I think
that they progressed further than that.

Speaker 7 (46:34):
Well, it's yeah, I mean, it's it's a great example.
I just point back to the crazy results of the
last you know, two weeks with the Saints, you know,
beating the Giants, the Giants going beat the Eagles. I mean,
right now we're watching Denver hanging on against a Jets
team that's thrown for forty five passing.

Speaker 3 (46:50):
Jets team that has yet to crack triple digits in
total yards by four yard.

Speaker 7 (46:55):
I know, how about how badly I could put it,
but I mean they're you know, they're going for fourth
and eight.

Speaker 3 (46:59):
They very well my least game, I got to be
honest with you.

Speaker 7 (47:02):
But you know, Denver, by most accounts, one of the
best offensive lines and one of the best defenses in
football right now. So I think just some of these
close examples that are happening around the league just show
how week to week. I mean, look at even Carolina
with the you know, the Patriots blowing them out and
then they bounce back. So you know, in this in
this kind of relegation level, a lot of stuff is

(47:22):
on the table, and especially if you play bad, if
you play bad and you turn the ball over, I
mean that's and then that's probably the formula here as
well for why this game with Denver and the Giants
the Jets is close right now.

Speaker 2 (47:32):
So you know, the Patriots to.

Speaker 7 (47:34):
Play a clean game, go out there and execute, get
a fast start. You know, maybe you get some help
from special teams. That's something we haven't really mentioned. The
Jets special Sorry, the Saints special teams, you know, ranks
dead last in the league. A lot of it because
it's in Seattle. They just had a terrible first half.
But they've missed some kicks, they've allowed good field position,
they've allowed a punt return for a touchdown. So that

(47:54):
might be a sneaky place where Patriots can create some
separation and maybe then it settles in to a different
kind of game, because, let's face it, a lot of
these games that you don't expect they go down to
the end.

Speaker 3 (48:05):
You know why we quick second for a floor for
a red zone. If you played an entire game, which
is to this point fifty eight minutes and fifty seconds,
and you compiled ninety five yards and you faced a
fourth and eight, would you go for the fourth and
eight thinking I have ninety five yards for the balance

(48:27):
of the game, I can get I can get eight here.
We would you try a sixty two yard field goal? Well,
if Nick Folk, I don't care who your kicker is,
what do you think there's a better chance of probably
making that you're making that kick? Kick? I mean he
made a fifty two yard or earlier in the game.
Will Lats has a fifty seven yard or in this game, Like,

(48:48):
have you ever considered I'm not telling you that you
can make a sixty two yard field goal and like
you should expect to make it. I just feel like
when you've played fifty nine minutes and you have ninety
five yards, I don't think there's a prayer in hell
that you're getting eight yards on fourth down.

Speaker 2 (49:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (49:01):
And by the way, in case spoiler yard, the Kields
was sacked. They now have eighty two yards of total offense.

Speaker 2 (49:08):
Yikes, are bad there for you to see it?

Speaker 5 (49:10):
Seriously?

Speaker 6 (49:11):
Oh and six.

Speaker 2 (49:13):
Aaron Glenn not a great win for Denver either.

Speaker 6 (49:15):
Don't buy green bananas.

Speaker 2 (49:17):
It is Denver in the in like the trap game category?

Speaker 6 (49:21):
Is that you know?

Speaker 2 (49:21):
Or is this like they flew from Denver to England.

Speaker 3 (49:24):
Denver is at least a playoff team from last year
I don't know how good they are. They're sort of developing.
This was just one of those ugly games. This is this,
this is you know, they put a box up in
the middle of the third quarter and Mike and I
are looking at it like this, that's like allow a
team to hang around one on one. You will you know,
you fumbled the ball in your first drive. The Jets

(49:46):
scoring drives in this game were four plays three yards,
four plays one yard, ten plays, thirty seven yards and
they got a safety by sacking the quarterback in the
end zone, and in the Bronco had to like hold
on for dear life at the end of the game.
I'm telling you they would not have felt great if
Nick Folk lined up. I think it was the forty

(50:07):
four yard line at the end of the game, so
that's you know, fifty.

Speaker 6 (50:10):
Four at sixty two yard field goal.

Speaker 3 (50:13):
Like, I don't think that that's a crazy field goal
in this day and age with these evidently, with the
new procedures with the CA balls is adding you know
some say five to seven yards and these field goals.
I just think that that would have been a better option.

Speaker 2 (50:26):
Yeah, I mean it's okay. Jests are a mess, right
now we don't need to turn.

Speaker 6 (50:31):
This Jets game show.

Speaker 5 (50:33):
Now, those games show.

Speaker 2 (50:35):
I was like, let's get a win and get out
of here, get on the plane and get out of it.

Speaker 3 (50:37):
I guess they spent the whole week there. Boy, No
socks was telling me they've been there all week.

Speaker 5 (50:42):
All right, Well, so now for our Sunday six packs,
brought to you by the Massachusetts two fifty campaign commemorating
a history of possibility. You can play in your revolutionary
weekend at Massachusetts two fifty dot org. All right, how
do we do last week? Pull with the two packs?

Speaker 3 (50:57):
So this is I can actually hold my head out
on this one. I actually went two and o last week,
and I guess.

Speaker 5 (51:05):
We had a fifty to fifty shot.

Speaker 3 (51:07):
Kah, Kwannie and I went too, and oh and Mike,
as you see, you'll lose a boy. On the six
pack standings are Kwanie at fourteen and twelve, Paul at
thirteen and thirteen, and Mike is relegated at ten, ten
and sixteen. But Mike, I don't know if you realize,
but Kwane is in first place in both of these.

Speaker 2 (51:27):
It doesn't the beginner's luck.

Speaker 6 (51:29):
Right, Let's chop it up to the beginnings.

Speaker 5 (51:31):
Let there's some reasoning behind this.

Speaker 2 (51:34):
We'll see. It's a long season. Exactly to the top,
it was all okay.

Speaker 5 (51:39):
First up, we have the Chargers at Miami right now,
LA with four and a half.

Speaker 2 (51:46):
The lack, Yeah, I'm gonna go with the lack. I
just I don't believe in Miami, especially without Tyreek.

Speaker 7 (51:54):
Chargers offensive line is has been destroyed essentially, So that's.

Speaker 2 (51:58):
A tough pick. Miami's Dolphins defensive line ain't good enough
to take him enough advantage of it. I'm gonna go
with the lack. I'll lay the four and a half.

Speaker 3 (52:05):
I'm worried about the Chargers injuries and it's up front.
It's the skilled guys. No Quinton Johnston today, Noah Mauri
and Hampton today. But I'm going with the mic to
show lying about the Dolphins. I believe they've lost eight
straight against teams with winning records in something like fourteen
of the last fifteens.

Speaker 5 (52:24):
Against winning a team with no identity.

Speaker 2 (52:26):
I will take the Chargers, well, identity just losing.

Speaker 5 (52:31):
No, and I'm gonna go. We're gonna go three and
oh for that one. I'm definitely not lack around. Yeah,
we're all lacking.

Speaker 2 (52:37):
We're all lacking.

Speaker 6 (52:38):
All right.

Speaker 5 (52:39):
We have the Browns at the Steelers right now, Pittburgh,
Pittsburgh five and a half.

Speaker 2 (52:44):
Got Dylan Gabriel and uh yeah, division matchup, go ahead,
Paul Y's.

Speaker 3 (52:47):
You Yeah, I'm gonna take Cleveland to cover this one
five and a half. I don't think Pittsburgh's offenses is
good enough to lay five and a half against that
Browns defense, so I'm not going to do it.

Speaker 6 (52:58):
I think they'll win the game, but I think Cleveland
will keep it close.

Speaker 5 (53:01):
I'm a still in Pittsburgh because they've they've been doing
They've been Yeah, I just they've been consistent.

Speaker 2 (53:06):
Aaron Rodgers. Ironically, I'm gonna lean with Paul though. I
think it's gonna be a close game, divisional game. I
like Cleveland's defense. I just think it's a matter of
time before somebody really starts to get after Aaron Rodgers.
So I'm gonna take I'm gonna take Cleveland, close one.

Speaker 5 (53:20):
There we go, all right. Up next, we have four
o'clock games tight ends at the Raiders Las Vegas four
and a half.

Speaker 2 (53:29):
That's you, corny Europe first on this one.

Speaker 5 (53:32):
Let's see Wow, this is gonna be a riveting matchup
for sure. That was definitely stark as. I'm gonna go
with Tennessee on this one.

Speaker 2 (53:40):
Yeah on the road.

Speaker 6 (53:41):
Yeah, Tennessee to four and a half.

Speaker 5 (53:46):
I met lost. I read that and properly, I'm my way.
That's Las Vegas.

Speaker 2 (53:49):
We're still in the old funny. It doesn't matter.

Speaker 3 (53:52):
The Raiders should not be giving four and a half
to anybody.

Speaker 6 (53:56):
I'm gonna take Tennessee.

Speaker 5 (53:58):
There we go.

Speaker 2 (54:00):
I'm terrible as this game. I'm gonna take Vegas. Just
make it interesting, gonna make us.

Speaker 3 (54:05):
This is where he actually this is the second time
he's channeling is in our hearty this party used to do.

Speaker 6 (54:10):
We'd fall behind, and.

Speaker 3 (54:11):
He waits to make stupid decisions you pick and choose,
when he could go by himself and see if he
could steal it.

Speaker 2 (54:17):
I mean, my gout is yea this whole game. So
I'll take.

Speaker 3 (54:21):
Justin Fields nine for seventeen for forty five yard sacked
nine times, nine times.

Speaker 6 (54:27):
He's just leading you down the primrose path leading. I
think that's it for Justin Fields.

Speaker 2 (54:33):
Yeah, that's it. To move it on to uh somebody
else anyway.

Speaker 5 (54:38):
All right, up, next Sunday football, Detroit Lions at the
Kansas City. Skip skipped the Francis look right over the
Niners and Bucks. The game that will be a good
that will be a better game than Tennessee Tampa Bay
with three and a half.

Speaker 7 (54:53):
I guess I'm back up, uh man, Mac Jones also
back up Mac Jones.

Speaker 3 (54:58):
Will play a lot of guys out for both teams
here though, Godwin and Evans for the.

Speaker 7 (55:05):
Bar, that's tough for Baker. I'm gonna just go with Baker.
I'm gonna go Tampa Bay.

Speaker 3 (55:10):
Okay, I'm going to take Tampa Bay as well. You know,
as Fred Kirsch likes to tell me, league is a
better league with Baker. I don't really know.

Speaker 2 (55:19):
You can say anything, but does that makes sense?

Speaker 5 (55:22):
Facts, I'm gonna take San Friand on the road.

Speaker 2 (55:27):
Mac Jones, let Jones, let mac Wine. Oh sorry, this
is a game tonight to watch. This is is my
favorite thing.

Speaker 7 (55:37):
Is we get home home, hopefully sipping some cocoa, reminiscing
about great Patriots highlights and watching the game tonight.

Speaker 5 (55:47):
That's what we want to hear. So the de Short
Lions at Kansas City. Like I said, two and a half.
Kansas City.

Speaker 2 (55:53):
I think you're up.

Speaker 5 (55:53):
I'm going to take I don't know, I don't know
what I'm taking. Oh my gosh, I a lot on
the I haven't right it is. I haven't loved the
way Kansas City has played this season. But you know,
I'm gonna take the Lions just you know.

Speaker 2 (56:08):
What, You're gonna just take this.

Speaker 5 (56:14):
Exactly aggressive defense.

Speaker 6 (56:18):
Yeah, I'm gonna take Detroit too.

Speaker 5 (56:21):
Maybe I should.

Speaker 3 (56:22):
They're playing, they're playing better I feel than Kansas City has.
So I'm gonna take the Lions to keep it rolling.

Speaker 2 (56:28):
I'm gonna I'm gonna break the trend again. I'm gonna
go Kansas City at home Swift's. You know, they Tailor
shows just dropped a new album.

Speaker 5 (56:35):
They're clearly playing that locker room.

Speaker 2 (56:37):
They're playing in the locker room. You know, it's it's
all happening. So i'm gonna I'm gonna go Kansas City.

Speaker 5 (56:41):
I think you're gonna be right, just for that one reason.

Speaker 2 (56:43):
And we'll see probably not.

Speaker 5 (56:44):
And of course our game the Patriots in New Orleans,
New England, with like you said, a small three and
a half ready here.

Speaker 2 (56:52):
Yeah, I guess back to me, I don't even know,
I'll just go I'm gonna go Patriots on this one.
I I think it's going to be close early Patriots
kind of pull away late third quarter, early fourth and
went by a couple. I'm gonna say Patriots twenty seven
to thirteen.

Speaker 3 (57:09):
I have a similar kind of scenario. I do think
there's a plausibility of the Patriots kind of you know,
early on they're feeling each other out and knocking off
some cob webs, and then they eventually I think Drake
may heats up, and once they do that, I think
that's the difference. And I thought we heard from John
Hendrix and he said one of the matchups I think

(57:30):
Kwanti you asked him about the matchups that he's concerned with,
and that was one, you know, sort of containing the
athleticism of Drake Man. I think that's the difference. Twenty
seven to six. I'm going to say because I just
don't see any offense from New Orleans.

Speaker 5 (57:42):
Okay, Well, I'm going with the Patriots as well. One
because they haven't failed me the last two weeks, but
two mainly because we talked about that identity and like
you mentioned on offense, I really like what we're seeing
with this team, the chemistry that they're building, and then
defensively in Buffalo as well, just looking at the Saints offense,
I feel as though the Patriots can get it done
on both sides of the ball today.

Speaker 2 (58:01):
I think so.

Speaker 7 (58:02):
But definitely, you know, some questions coming out of that
Buffalo game with with Hawkins not playing, you know, you
get chased on.

Speaker 2 (58:08):
Back, how does he look? Is he ready to go?
And I mean I always get excited about the opportunities
just to see some other guys get opportunities. Interested to
see if Kyle Duggar's back in there playing every snap
as a safety or you know, is del Pettis did that,
you know, signal that they just think Kyle Duggar is
really kind of more of a linebacker in their system.
I'm not exactly sure. So we'll get some answers pretty

(58:28):
quick on that. And also just Christian Gonzalez, like we
talked about his management, is he ready to go wire
to wire? And you know, I think if the defense
plays the way that they're capable of playing, they should
be in a pretty good spot. But again, I think
this defense overall has just been a little bit you know,
at times there's been plays to be made.

Speaker 9 (58:47):
Now.

Speaker 7 (58:48):
Last week that was Josh Allen, so you accept it.
If it's happening this week against Spencer Ratler, probably be
a little.

Speaker 2 (58:53):
Bit more disappointing. Hopefully they can really put the clamps down,
you know, Like I said, keep everything in front of you,
come up and tackle, make that continuously execute and hope
that their drives flame out one way or the other.

Speaker 3 (59:04):
Yeah, I mean, I think that's that's it in a nutshell,
you know. I think if you just play safe, don't
let rahiat Rashid Shahi get behind you.

Speaker 5 (59:15):
By how many times when we say bye you?

Speaker 6 (59:18):
I'll watch the game today? To me, what's the biggest
play in the game.

Speaker 3 (59:21):
Like you could talk about all those turnovers that the
Giants had last week, but the eighty seven yard touchdown
changed the game and.

Speaker 6 (59:28):
That's those big plays will do that.

Speaker 3 (59:30):
So just make sure that you know whoever it is,
whatever combination is, that dugger is a pettis who you know,
whatever you know. I actually think it could be more
corners out there too, you know, maybe we see more
Alex Austin today than we've seen, you know, in the
recent past. Just keep everybody in front.

Speaker 5 (59:47):
All right, Well that's all that we have for this

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks.
