New England Patriots back at to Lette Stadium after a
strong free game win on the road for in a
row already and the team, as you know, stands at
five and two. So we are excited to see what
comes from today's game against the Cleveland Browns. Of course,
Paul Parillo's here, Mike do so, I'm Kwannie Lunis. Thank
(01:12):
you guys for joining us. A little throwback.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
The Giants not yeah, you know, it was just it
was getting too much the Giants after that collapse.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
We're not even gonna talk about that. That messed up
my my key my six pack. By the way, too,
you went six and oh wait no oh did I
pick the You picked the Giants? Get into that.
Speaker 4 (01:34):
We'll get into it was a good cover six and
on the six pack. Can't believe in this card.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
Beginner's luck, guys, beginners luck. But off the top, I
think the biggest conversation is Miles Garrett. We'll get into
that as well. Yeah, I told you guys, I'm scared already.
I'm not even playing in this game. But let's talk
about the inactives before we get into the nitty gritty
of the game, so that we can know who will
be playing and who won't.
Speaker 5 (01:59):
So well, I think the big one off the top
is just Kyle Duggart, who you know was injured and
just continues a streak of the safeties have been banged up.
Craig Woodson mispractice on Wednesday, was able to come back,
but now you're going to have him hopefully he's healthy,
able to go wire to wire. Jalen Hawkins has been
battling a hamstring injury, so you know, Kyle Dugger stepped
up the last couple of games and played a bunch
of snaps for them, and now he's banged up, so
(02:21):
that rotation kind of continues. Your back I think today
to who the starting two guys were, But you just
hope that those guys are healthy and then not limited
in any way. You know, to be honest, this isn't
a Browns offense is going to try to push the
ball down the field too much on these guys. But
still I think it's big for them to be able to,
you know, come up, make tackles and the big and Dougger.
Speaker 4 (02:41):
I mean, I agree with you, it's not a huge
deal because of the limited offense that you're facing, but
you would like to have Dougger's I think physicality against
the running game if they get Quinn Shawn Judkins going.
But you know you can't have it all. Jalen Hawkins
back in there, you know, Craig Woodson, you know back
in there too, is a name on this inactive list
(03:02):
that you know sort of stood out a little bit,
just not really happening for the guy in his third year.
You get off to a quick start last year in Cincinnati,
with the you know the multiple sack then well you
have three sacks of three and a half sacks in
that game and really just hasn't been able. He's not
a pass rusher per se. I think he's more of
(03:23):
a well rounded defensive lineman. Buddy. This is three different
coaching staffs now, Mike, and it hasn't really clicked for
Keyon White yet. This is as healthy as scratch as.
Speaker 5 (03:33):
You can be.
Speaker 4 (03:33):
It wasn't even on the injury report during the course
of the week, So I think that's an interesting name
to be included among the inactives.
Speaker 5 (03:39):
Yeah, a little bit back and forth with him and
Infondy Jennings and if either one of those guys is
really carved out a full time role. I just think
we talked about a lot this offseason. You got in,
you saw them add these two defensive vents Harold Landry
Klaven Chase On. Those guys have been pretty solid for you,
but you just don't have much depth behind them. I'm
not sure if Jennings or White really true fit what
(04:00):
they're trying to do. But we'll see if those guys,
maybe somebody can continue to emerge, maybe Elijah Ponder the rookie.
They just went and you know, brought in this kid
Caleb Murphy this week, who's also on the inactive's list,
probably still getting them to speed. Mike Rabel said, he's
fourth down guy. He's had experience on fourth down, So
I don't know if there's any kind of real uh,
you know, just third piece in this rotation right now,
(04:22):
and that's a spot that as the trade as the
trade deadline comes up in the coming weeks, I think
it's a position to maybe keep an eye on a
third piece that you can really trust on every downs
at defensive end would be a nice ad for this team.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
Agree, And we had the callers in post game already
talking about the playoffs, but the reality is you're gonna
want depth when you do get to that point in
the season.
Speaker 5 (04:39):
I think we all, like my heart dropped when it
looked last week like Harold Landry got hurt. Yes, he
does so much for that. He's such an important part
both against the run in against the past, so he
you know, was a little bit limited, but he's back
out there, so hopefully they can keep those guys upright.
It's not unheard of. I always go back to twenty fourteen.
I think I was freaking out the whole season long
when they had Rob Ninkovich and Chandler Jones playing pretty
much every snow out the whole season long. They were
(05:01):
able to make it all the way to the super
Bowl and win it with that. So, you know, sometimes
you can thread that needle. But when you look at
areas on the roster where depth could be a problem,
defensive end, outside linebacker, that's a big spot. And I
just last point helps a little bit with that as well.
Since he's been out.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
Yeah, no real, no real big names on the Cleveland
injury report, the one just in terms of the drama
and and sort of the you know, the excitement of
the game. Sanders is not active.
Speaker 5 (05:30):
I guess he had.
Speaker 4 (05:32):
They listed him where they added him to the injury
put with a back injury. They promoted old friend Bailey
Zappy from the practice squad, and Sanders is inactive. I
thought there was a chance that if the Patriots got
a lead today you might see Sanders play a little bit,
but that won't happening. For as a just I just
want to mention real quick. I'm on Twitter and there's
(05:55):
some you know, unfortunate news out of New York for
the Jets, Nick mangle long time you know, center passed away,
very very sudden. I guess you know the just seeing
a quote here from Woody Johnson. Nick was more than
a legendary center. He was the heartbeat of our offensive
line for a decade in A beloved teammate whose leadership
(06:16):
and toughness to find an era of Jets football off
the field. Nick's wit, warmth, and unwavering loyalty made him
a cherished member of our extended Jets family. So the
Jets in the NFL at large mourning the loss of what,
by all accounts just a great, great guy and Nick Mangold.
So I'm not really sure what you know, how that
(06:38):
came about, if you know what, but too young, no,
absolutely too young.
Speaker 5 (06:42):
Terrible news part of that Jets team when you know,
under Rex Ryan, when they were you know, making some
making a push on the Patriots twenty nine, two thousand
nine eleven those years. Sad to hear, sad to hear.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
I would just found out that he died of complications
of kidney disease. So, like you mentioned, forty one years.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
Old, so way too young, terrible he was. He was
a great player.
Speaker 5 (07:03):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I really saw who's the tackle that
was with them? I was the Brickish the Brickisheff Ferguson.
Speaker 4 (07:08):
That one of the all time great names.
Speaker 5 (07:10):
They brought those guys in and really without you know,
Mark Sanchez a couple of years when gave the Patriots
a lot of problems. But uh, now that's that's a terrible,
a tough way to start off the day.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
And Ohio native, I'm sure sure.
Speaker 5 (07:23):
Yeah, Mike Rabel guy as well.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
Yeah, well, thank you for sharing that.
Speaker 4 (07:28):
So we should also add in addition to talking all
about the inactives, they had two roster elevations as well,
with yeah Terrell, Terrell Jennings.
Speaker 5 (07:39):
And Richie Grant, Richie Grant safety safety depth as well.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
Who stands out you most?
Speaker 5 (07:45):
Yeah, well it's got to be Terrell Jennings. I just
you know, last week you heard in the locker room
we found our five minutes back. Torell Jennings got some
carries at the end of kind of you know, in
garbage time to run the clock out. I joke with
Paul this week on Patriot Unfilter, I'm like, I'm not
sure that means like you're getting a big role in
the game just yet, but again, you know, if they
were to have the opportunity. I think though the way
the game started to unfold last week with Ramandre having
(08:08):
some room, looked like he was having a day. We've
seen that happen a few times over the course of
his career when it's it's on for him. But you
know what I thought was most interesting, Paul maybe was
in Mike Rabel's film breakdown talking about the touchdown that
Remandre had where he was kind of stuck the ball
out a little bit, and Mike Rabel pointed that out
and said, you know, this isn't stuff we're going to do.
So even in you know, success last week, a good
(08:30):
week for Mandre, especially in the first half, you see
Mike Rabel still pointing out moments where we need to
point everything out.
Speaker 4 (08:37):
I want to say the Carolina game on Hunter Henry's
touchdown down the sideline and you know he got a
little loose with the ball toward the goal line, same
kind of thing, and I believe when he did the
film breakdown for All Access, Mike Rabel pointed it out
for Hunter Henry as well. So that is something that
was a huge huge staple for Belichick. He was very
(09:00):
anti reaching the ball out of the goal line. Talked
about the risk reward thing, and you know, if you
the risk is generally if that fumble happens, it's going
in the end zone and it comes out and the
other team gets the ball, like you don't even have
to you know, have the other team recover it. So
that's something that he probably heard for years from from
(09:21):
Belichick and he's been a stickler for it. So something
to keep an eye.
Speaker 5 (09:24):
On, Yeah, for surely.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
So let's get into the keys of the game.
Speaker 5 (09:28):
I think let's do it all week for the whole
teams in the locker room right now, just listening to this,
waiting to hear what you're going to say. Here are
this week's keys to the game?
Speaker 2 (09:38):
All right, drum roll please, he's to the games.
Speaker 5 (09:42):
You're going to kick it up. Yeah, sure, So mins
don't get sloppy. And I think that to me is
you've had a you know, other than that Pittsburgh game
where they turned the ball over five times. I mean
you had one against the Bills, you have one against
the Raiders, and otherwise you've had four games where you
haven't turned the ball over. I think it's been a
huge part of the formula for being successful. I just
you can't regress today. You can't give this Browns team
(10:03):
extra possessions.
Speaker 6 (10:04):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (10:05):
You got to be safe with the ball. Starts with
you know, Drake May under center, making good decisions, knowing
when to when the down is dead, when it's time
to you know, maybe just take a sack or whatever
it might be. But the biggest key to me today
is be clean with the ball. Continue that. It's been
a huge key for them.
Speaker 4 (10:20):
Yeah, and mine is go the extra Miles. See what
I did there and why Eliot So as as Mary
kay Cabot gets settled in here, who will be our
guest for behind enemy lines? Miles Garrett is the best
player on the field today, absolutely, and I did. The
Patriots just simply cannot allow him to control the game
and wreck the game. My guess is Josh McDaniels will
(10:42):
devote a little bit more than just one guy to
make sure that he is not in Drake May's face
throughout the ball game. But he is a guy capable
of causing turnovers, wreaking havoc. I have so much respect
for his all around game that front for Cleveland is legit.
Make sure that Myles Garrett doesn't come out of this
game with, say, you know, two and a half sacks
(11:04):
and stripsack and you know that kind of stuff, because
I think those free points for Cleveland would keep the
Browns in the game.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
And we're gonna talk to Mary Kay in just a
second about him being hungry for those sacks. But before
we do, minus the opposite of the end of the ball,
plug the gaps, because obviously we're all focused on the defense.
We know that Cleveland's defense is going to be looking
for Drake May and trying to stop his game. But
I think with any game, you want to make sure
it's balanced. I talked about this last week, making sure
that the defense also whatever runs that Cleveland does try
(11:33):
to have and whatever scoring they try to attempt, make
sure you're stopping them as fast as you can. All Right,
that being said, we have to introduce our next guest.
It's time now for Behind Enemy Lines. It's brought to
you by Pepsi. Game Day is here. You know that
stock up now, Grab a refreshing Pepsi zero sugar twelve
pack now, because tailgating deserves better, all right, Without further ado,
(11:53):
we've like longly taken Mary Kaykevin from Cleveland dot com
and a plane dealer, Thank you so much for being here,
Thanks for having me excited to be here.
Speaker 5 (12:01):
Good to have you back. When when was that Paul
was like twenty twenty one, I think was the last name.
Maybe you were in our studio.
Speaker 4 (12:06):
Yeah, the Mac john here, Mac Jones, oh my goodness.
And the Patriots actually won that game big Well, you
didn't know at the time just how much Baker Mayfield
was dealing with shoulder day and that was that was
a big part of that game. But yeah, okay, one
of the all time greats right here.
Speaker 5 (12:25):
Yes, I'm well aware.
Speaker 4 (12:26):
Sure, thank you for respect.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Mary your preview of this game. I was telling them
earlier that I'm scared of Miles Garrett, but mainly because
of your article about the fact that he'd mentioned trying
you know, he winks up players, the quarterback specifically when
he's trying to intimidate them. But you also mentioned at
the end of your article about how he's trying to
add to his graveyard of quarterbacks essentially, and Drake may
having the success right now clearly is one that he's targeting.
(12:51):
So from your conversations, what do you expect from him today?
Speaker 7 (12:54):
Well, first of all, the graveyard is a real thing.
Miles every Halloween decorates his yard with tombstones, no more
scared of all the quarterbacks that he has sacked.
Speaker 8 (13:07):
So he would love to add Drake May to the yard.
Speaker 7 (13:11):
And so Drake is going to have to try to
make sure that doesn't happen, and his blockers are going
to have to try to prevent that as well. But
I think that's going to be a key to the game,
of course, what the Patriots can do to Miles and
what Miles can do to beat that.
Speaker 8 (13:25):
And he's hungry. I mean, he is really raring to go.
Speaker 7 (13:29):
They're excited to play this young quarterback who is off
to such a rousing, rousing start.
Speaker 8 (13:34):
They want to get him off that mark. They want
to rattle him, and they.
Speaker 7 (13:37):
Can do it from the interior and the exterior. And
that's what the problem is going to be for him.
They're going to have to try to find a way
to block up some guys that are playing really, really
well on the inside and on the outside. The guy
to watch on the inside for the most part is
Malik Collins. He's having a really really good season. He's
a savvy veteran. He's making it very difficult on quarter.
Speaker 5 (14:00):
Yeah, along those lines too, I mean Mason Graham, the
rookie that you guys brought in. It just seems like
they've got a whole rotation of those front four and
they're cycling guys in and everybody's pretty disruptive. I mean,
is that the heartbeat of this defense? Those front four
getting pressure, making disruption happen.
Speaker 7 (14:14):
Yes, that is the engine of this defense, There's no
question about it. But those guys, when they are cooking,
they make it nice and easy for the guys in
the back end to roam around and make some really
nice plays. And if you saw what they did last
week against the Dolphins, the secondary got three takeaways three interceptions,
so it was a four takeaway game for the Browns,
(14:35):
who traditionally have been a little barren in that regard. So, yeah,
the rush and the coverage have been working really well together.
Speaker 4 (14:43):
So the problem for Cleveland has been obviously the other
side of the ball. It's still in Gabriel now rookie
you know, finding his way, hasn't turned the ball over,
but haven't been a lot of big plays. What has
the offense looked like with him? What are the differences
I guess with Gabriel from them what it was at
the in September with Joe Flacker.
Speaker 8 (15:00):
Well, the story of.
Speaker 7 (15:01):
This Cleveland Browns football team right now is they have
an excellent defense, of course, and they've got quin Shawn
Judkins running the ball really well. They're rookie running back
out of Ohio State. What they don't have right now
is a passing game. They virtually have no passing game,
and that's been the.
Speaker 8 (15:18):
Whole entire problem. They're not scoring points.
Speaker 7 (15:20):
When they do score points, like last week, it was
because the takeaways led to twenty one points. There was
a pick six and there was another almost pick six.
So the offense is definitely points challenged. Dylan Gabriel is
passing in points challenge, and if they don't get that
turned around in a hurry, then the Browns are gonna
end up having to put Shador Sanders into the game
(15:42):
sooner than they want to.
Speaker 5 (15:42):
Now.
Speaker 7 (15:42):
Shador is not playing today. He's inactive for this game
with some backtightness. Your old friend Bailey Zappi is QB
two today. It'll be really interesting to see if Bailey
gets in the game. He knows this team fairly well.
He knows the Browns offense really well, and so he
actually probably could make them hay. But Dylan needs to
get things going, especially with his veterans David Nijoku and
(16:07):
Jerry Judy. Those guys need to kind of come up
off the mat and make some plays for the rookie
QB and.
Speaker 4 (16:12):
Mike I will keep Najoku in my life.
Speaker 5 (16:15):
Is well you mentioned that though you have the veterans
and then you've got the rookies with Fannin and Judkins,
and you know, how is that all coming together for
these rookie quarterback A couple rookie pieces, couple veteran pieces.
Do they have optimism that they can start to click
and find to find their stride?
Speaker 8 (16:29):
Yes, but it's a work in progress.
Speaker 7 (16:31):
These guys are so young and they're finding out when
they go up against a lot of these veteran defenders,
they're not always winning the contested catch. Dylan isn't necessarily
taking the shots he needs to take to kind of
open this offense up a little bit.
Speaker 8 (16:45):
He really needs to do that.
Speaker 7 (16:46):
If it's there, he's got to take it. And then
on the other end they have to catch the ball.
The Browns lead I believe the NFL with eighteen drops
so far this season. So Jerry's been dropping passes, David
has dropped some. Harold, who's a very very nice secure
pass catcher, he's dropped some passes as well, So that's
been a problem. I think it's a function of they
had a four way quarterback competition training camp. There hasn't
(17:10):
been any continuity. Now Dylan is also lefty that might
change things up a bit, so it's been a challenge.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
I'm sure they're riding high off that win against Miami.
Granted they're a one in sixteen, so I think you
take that with a grant of salt. But what do
you think they will try to take from that win
here at Foxborough today?
Speaker 7 (17:25):
Well, I think, first of all, the takeaways and as
you guys know, Drake May does not throw interceptions, so
they're going to try to get him to do that.
They're going to try to rattle him into making some mistakes.
They're also going to try to sack him and probably
kind of rough him up a little bit and make
him hear some footsteps.
Speaker 8 (17:44):
And he has been sacked.
Speaker 2 (17:45):
I believe his.
Speaker 7 (17:46):
Twenty two are tied for second in the NFL. So
you know that Miles Garrett is going to be on
the prowl, and of course there are two rookie offensive
linemen that are going to have their hands full today.
So I think that's the key to the game for
the Clear Browns is to get Drake May off of
his mark, try to get him rattled a little bit, and.
Speaker 8 (18:05):
Also for some fumbles.
Speaker 4 (18:06):
Mary Kay, I'm interested in your take. You mentioned the
four way quarterback battle and nationally that's been you know,
a story, you know, just how that whole quarterback thing unfolded.
I'm interested in your first hand accounts of what you
saw in the summer and what you expect to see
going forward with how this is going to all play out.
Speaker 9 (18:24):
Well.
Speaker 7 (18:24):
First of all, I think the idea was for Kenny
Pickett to win that four way quarterback competition, but he
suffered a severe hamstring injury on the fourth day of
training camp and it just threw a monkey wrench into
all the plans. He was really supposed to be the
bridge quarterback this year and it just didn't work out.
They ended up trading him to the Raiders, and then
(18:45):
they installed Joe Flacco as the starter. Now, Joe in
this offense, it just wasn't working out. It's predicated on
a lot of quarterback movement, keepers, RPOs, called runs, different
things like that.
Speaker 8 (18:56):
It wasn't Joe's kind of game.
Speaker 7 (18:57):
And then also they had tackle problems, so he really
didn't have the time that he needed to get the
ball downfield, and he turned the ball over eight times,
and it was just time for them to go in
another direction. Now you see Joe excelling for the Bengals.
Nobody's overly surprised about that. And Dylan is still having
a hard time with the passing game here. I think
they'll stick with Dylan for a while and then if
(19:18):
he doesn't generate the offense that they need him to
at some point they'll.
Speaker 8 (19:22):
Turn it over to Shador May.
Speaker 4 (19:24):
Oh no, just just want more for me.
Speaker 5 (19:26):
You know, Mike Frabele was with you guys last year
in Cleveland, spoke so highly of just the whole organization
giving him that opportunity, you know, learning a little bit
about the offensive line. Just you know, what was your
impression last year having Frabel around, and you know, did
the guy has already mentioned this week of you know,
the impact he maybe made when he was around last year.
Speaker 7 (19:40):
Tons of mention of the impact that Mike Frabel had
on that football team last year. Of course he's an
Agron native. One of the first things I asked him
in the interview that we were able to do with
him at the Greenbrier prior last season was did he
eat dog bones.
Speaker 5 (19:54):
As a kid?
Speaker 7 (19:54):
And he said yes, he did, so you know he
has that badge of honor as a Cleveland Browns fan.
So clevelanders absolutely loved Mike Rabel. Of course Ohio State,
Akron and all those kinds of things. So it was
great to have him around, and he established a toughness.
He brought that tough as nails Mike Rabel vibe to
the Cleveland Browns and those guys still.
Speaker 8 (20:16):
Talk about that.
Speaker 6 (20:17):
Well.
Speaker 2 (20:17):
Mary Kay, we could talk to you to you for hours,
as you can tell, but thank you so much for
your time. Where can we find you online?
Speaker 5 (20:23):
Right there.
Speaker 7 (20:25):
At Mary Kacabot on Twitter and then everything's at Cleveland
dot com, so it's all there.
Speaker 4 (20:30):
Before you get head back up to the press box.
You have a prediction for.
Speaker 7 (20:33):
The Yes, I actually picked the Browns to win this
game really in an upset because of the strength of
their defense.
Speaker 8 (20:41):
I don't know how they're going to score any points.
It would have to be the defense.
Speaker 2 (20:44):
Scoring some point, which happened last week.
Speaker 7 (20:46):
But I picked up I just thought that perhaps maybe
the Patriots were right for a.
Speaker 8 (20:51):
Little bit of an upset, so I went with that.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
Sounds like.
Speaker 4 (20:55):
Thanks for having me, Thanks Mary Cash. No, that's the formula,
right that they're going to need to set up Dylan
Gabriel to put some points on the board the way
they did for Miami, you know, because that's how they
got all their points against Miami. At some point, do
you have anything in the back of your mind might
that you worry about? Drake May is like how many
(21:16):
these four games in a row without a pick?
Speaker 5 (21:18):
Well, hearing Mary Kay be like, Drake May doesn't turn
the ball over, I'm like that this has been a
great development this year. But what we saw, you know,
last year, was they called him to.
Speaker 4 (21:26):
To day May last year and it was like this
year he's been really really good with the ball. The fumbles.
To me, I'm a little bit more worried about today.
Last week, there were three different times where the ball
sort of got knocked loose from Drake May. They didn't
lose that. I don't know if they were any even
any of them were official fumbles and they didn't lose
any of them. But that's something to keep an eye on.
Speaker 2 (21:48):
And right now we see Drake May warming up. We
just talked about him the QB gearing up. The weather's
pretty nice outside. Well, you know, we love to tell
you about whether it's.
Speaker 5 (21:57):
It's gorgeous football, it's goudious all day. It's you know,
this is this is the time of year you love
just walking into the stadium and you know, smelling the
grills and all the fans getting hyped up. And you know,
let's talk a little bit about the Patriots coming home today,
and that's a big thing we heard them talk about
all week making this a tough place to play. I mean,
(22:17):
last time we saw this team, we didn't really know
which way this direction this season was going. They pulled
out a big win at Carolina. It felt great to
get that win at home. But now you come back
after three wins on the road, these fans should be
fired up. This is a Browns team that you have
an opportunity to move to six and two on the season.
You got to play well, though, and that's what you know.
(22:37):
I'm excited talking to other people, just excited to see
a new challenge for Drake May. This is definitely the
best defense everybody's been saying it that they've seen so far.
You know, we've been pumping up Miles Garrett left and right.
But good new challenge for this offense going against this
Cleveland defense. And you know, I think we all kind
of see it the same way. They got to move
the ball, They got to score points, but they got
to be safe and they can't give Cleveland short fields
(22:59):
and set them up for easy points and all that
kind of stuff you do that it's going to be
a game, but it should be a great day for
football here.
Speaker 4 (23:06):
I was interested in the way that Mary Kay talked
about Dylan Gabriel and his sort of unwillingness to try
to push the ball downfield. And I think that could
be a big thing too. That it's one thing to
have sort of a limited offense, but if it's because
he's like a lot of rookie quarterbacks and it is
unwilling to sort of take some chances, and you know,
(23:29):
the NFL open is not the same as College Open,
and maybe he's just not trusting what he sees. It's
not a great receiving core. Jerry Judy is by far
their most accomplished receiver. Mary Kay just explained he's had
trouble with drops this season. But all it takes is
one day, like you know, I'm not asking them to
go like the next you know, ten twelve weeks and
(23:51):
all of a sudden become an explosive offense. But can
they be a little bit better offensively than they've been
for one day? You know, maybe this is why focused
on the Patriots defense today. Can they make one of
these limited offenses look limited, you know, come out from
the start of the game and dominate, not the way
it's been you know, the you know for the first
(24:13):
seven weeks of the season where the other team is
looks really good offensively to start the game.
Speaker 2 (24:17):
Yeah, we're going to talk a little bit more about
that Patriots defense and how they can match up against Cleveland.

Still here, Mike do Soill. I always say you're still here.
We're still here, Kawnie Lewis, And it is spooky season.
Speaker 10 (28:20):
Guys.
Speaker 2 (28:21):
We were talking about how scary this Cleveland defense is
looking right now for the Patriots. But I think that
we talked earlier, right before the break, how we want
this Patriots defense to be just as scary today.
Speaker 4 (28:32):
I do.
Speaker 5 (28:32):
I mean, I think you're gonna know it pretty quick,
like it's looked the same last couple of weeks with
you know, young quarterbacks, first time starting quarterbacks, and they're
completing all their passes. They don't look disruptive. Thought it
was telling this week when Mike were able to just,
you know, simply say we've got to do a better
job disrupting quarterbacks. And you know, I think we got
off to such a hard start and it's easy to
look at mill Williams, Christian Barmore and be like, these
(28:53):
guys have been really disruptive. Calebon Chase on wins AFC
Defensive Player of the Week last week for you know,
his performance. So they have had some splash plays, but
I don't think that they've been consistently disruptive enough, especially
on early downs, which Mike Rabel has asked directly about.
And you can tell that it's an issue that they're discussing,
you know, even the defensive coaches who talked this week
(29:14):
getting on the field, getting a fast start, you know,
forcing that first punt. It can't look as easy as
it looked the last couple of games where the other
team just you know a lot of them point to
when teams come out, this is what they've schemed up
this is what they've looked at all week and said,
these are the plays we know are going to give
them problems. They're coming out, they're running those plays and
they're having a lot of success with them. So how
(29:34):
can Zach Krer Patriots defensive staff be ready for that
kind of stuff? Counter at early force an early punt.
I mean, that's you want to set up the game
for success today. Defer, get them off the field, go
down and score seven to nothing. You know you're getting
the ball back after halftime and you're going to have
a real stronghold on the game.
Speaker 2 (29:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (29:50):
I mean, and you had the numbers, Mike about the
early downs as a compete, you know, the differences in
the defensive performance when they can get you in thore
and long. Yeah, they're at the top of the league
even second and long. You know, but they're just allowing
too many yards. And Rabel said it this week, Zach
core said it last week. They're allowing too many yards
on early downs and they're they're they're allowing teams to
(30:12):
stay ahead of the chains. And when they're able to
get you behind the chains, they've been very effective when
they they can dictate the way. It's It's the age
old thing. You know, when you can dictate the way
you want to play defense, it's same on offense. If
you can, you know, maintain your balance of running pass
and you're not predictable, you're going to have more success.
This is why I want to see the Patriots defensively
(30:34):
today make a bad offense look bad. And they really
haven't done that. I know that people are like, but
what are you complaining about. They're in the top five
and scoring, and you know their third down to the
numbers are all great. They've played a lot of really
bad offenses that have played about as well as they're
capable of playing. The one performance defensively that I thought
was was encouraging was that Buffalo. I thought that they
(30:56):
were okay that night against a team that is capable
of scoring more than it did. I mean that's a
team that averages thirty a game and they only had
twenty that night. But Tennessee, I mean that's Tennessee played
as well offensively as they're capable of playing. Last week.
You know, they didn't like hold them, you know, behind
any any of their performances previously, they they're one of
(31:19):
the worst ranked offenses in football. And oh, by the way,
you have another one of those today. They're all thirty
two and thirty one depending on where you look. Tennessee
and Cleveland the worst two offenses in football. It's there's
weird statistical anomalies this year where it does. It's like,
you know, and there are only certain things I like.
You know, points is a big one, and you know,
they're they're really good at points. They're fifth in the league.
(31:40):
But you know DVOA, which is a stat that I like,
which measures adjust to the opponent and the situation. How
successful are you in these on these downs adjusted to
the at least they're twenty eighth, you know, So there
is something there, and I think this is where you
get to this is a Patriots team.
Speaker 5 (31:56):
You're starting to believe has something. And so now we're
getting serious about talking to the defense and yeah, they
you know, look at points and that stuff.
Speaker 4 (32:02):
It looks good.
Speaker 5 (32:02):
But I think there's a lot of room for that
defense to grow. And it's just it starts today. No
one's gonna give them any credit if they do shut
this Browns defense down today. But we know what's lurking
a couple weeks down the road with Tampa Bay and
you know, we'll see what Atlanta looks like next week,
but it's gonna get tougher and they've got to be better.
Speaker 2 (32:17):
Yeah, that would be a good building block. And we
can look at some of the numbers for the Browns
defense yards per game two and fifty six point one.
They ranked number one when it comes to their lockdown defense,
run defense eighty two point four yards allowed their ranking
number four right now, So, like we mentioned off the top,
the Browns really are not to be messed with. But
(32:38):
what are you hoping to see with Josh McDaniel's or
Drake May's schemes today? There we have the numbers right there. Yeah,
when it comes to making sure that these numbers do
not succeed at.
Speaker 5 (32:47):
Foxborough and I mean I just ad I said, you know,
Patriots are twenty eighth and dva way that this Cleveland
defense is fifth, So you know they rank very highly
with these kind of standard metrics. They also rank highly
on the other metrics side. I would say to Josh,
like Paul's point, making sure that Miles Garrett is taken
care of, I think that's something that you can trust.
Josh McDaniels. Within the game plan, but they're gonna have
(33:08):
to play well. I mean, you know, Mary Kay mentioned
Malie Collins, who's at thirty having a great year. I mean,
he's right behind Miles Garrett, and you know that such
a fearsome duo. You've got somebody off the edge who's
really really good, and you've got someone inside to lead
the way. And even Mason Graham rookie, very disruptive. So
a lot of challenges for this rookie offensive lineman today.
Especially you know, I had to watch Jared Wilson line
(33:29):
up on Elie Collins. The way these guys line up
with wide nine defensive ends, they're very spread out. It's
hard to get double teams on guys. You know, you
can chip edge guys, but it would be very easy
to isolate Malie Collins on Jared Wilson, you know. And
so those are the plays where you got to be
good up the middle because that's where pressure, forced fumbles,
turnovers happen.
Speaker 4 (33:47):
And I just would be surprised if McDaniels left these
guys on an island, especially if the Will Campbell and
Morgan Moses when they're dealing with with Garrett, because he's
just too good to to risk that they got kind
of a situation. So I expect tight ends to be
part of this.
Speaker 11 (34:06):
You know.
Speaker 4 (34:06):
Fred Kursh during the course of the week on Patriots
Unfiltered mentioned the possibility of even having a sixth offensive lineman,
which I would think would be more in run situations,
but maybe even in pass protection. Maybe they just say,
why are we going to put a tight end out there.
Let's just put another tackle out there whose job it is,
you know, full time job it is to protect. Maybe
they do something like that that would be out of
(34:27):
the ordinary, but I just can't imagine that McDaniels is
gonna risk having Garrett, you know, sort of blow up
this game.
Speaker 5 (34:36):
Yeah. And one more thing i'd say too about the
Cleveland defense is you know, they had four takeaways last
week against Miami. Otherwise it's it hasn't been great. I mean,
I think the word Mary Kay usual was Barren Barren. Yeah,
and that to me, the way that they fly to
the ball, they're very aggressive. It's man defense, so I
just holding onto the ball, not letting guys come in
and punch it out. I think they're going to be
coming aggressively to try to get the ball, especially out
(34:59):
of Rom Stevenson's hands. I just that's how this defense
wants to play. That's the Jim Schwartz attitude. Aggressive fly
to the ball. You can see it on their defense.
So I just make sure you're securing the ball again.
It just goes back to my key. The Patriots don't
turn the ball over today, I think they'll be fine.
If it's a couple turnovers, things could start to get
a little dicey.
Speaker 2 (35:20):
Stacy and Indiana actually emailed asking with the Browns for
being one of the best in the league. Like we
just talked about, do you expect the Patriots to use
more slide protection or chip help from the tight ends
or running backs to help the pocket.
Speaker 4 (35:33):
I just think flat double teams like chip or not.
I just can't. You can't let Miles Garrett impact this game,
you know, much like that they.
Speaker 5 (35:42):
Used to do.
Speaker 4 (35:43):
And you know in the old days, we had another
caller talked about Houston, you know with JJ Watt. Now,
my big feeling for those games was that was all
about Tom Brady and his ability to get the ball
out quick, understanding where the pressure was coming from. I
don't know if you can ask Drake May to play
like that. So you're going to need to give more
attention to these pass rushers and make sure that they
(36:04):
don't they don't disrupt the game. And you know, the
one really good thing about the way the Patriots offensive
resurgence over the last you know, whatever you want to
call it, six weeks, they really kept the pass attempts down.
You know, I think last week they it was it
was like twenty twenty attempts. So even if you want
to count the the sacks and the and the runs,
(36:25):
you know, you're talking about thirty. You know, they're they're baby,
they're basically attempting thirty pass attempts a game. So stay
out of that forty forty five uh situation where it's
a lot of obvious passing situations. When they can pin
their ears back, I think that's the key to keeping
Drake May healthy today. Or you know, upright, yes, that's
the key bird up right.
Speaker 2 (36:46):
All right, we're getting your calls and emails as we
usually do, so we're start with our faithful Patty and
agawam agawam. I don't know I said that that way, Hi, Patty.
Speaker 13 (36:55):
Hey, Patty, PAWNI, Paully, Mikey what's going on. Hey, I'm
gonna just to click aside, you know, rest in peace
Mcmanngold and prayers to his family. The Jets had a
great run with Mawaii and then once Mawaii, once Tennessee
they got, they struggled with Mangold and no pun intended.
But when I when I projected like who I thought
(37:18):
was going to be going into the Hall of Fame,
he was on. He was on my list this year
even before like what happened. So that's terrible, and you know,
prayers to his family. This game, I know during the
week I picked twenty seven to ten. But I feel
like this, this game could possibly get out of hand
just because of you know, Mike, Mike Brabel's institutional knowledge
(37:39):
of especially situation situationally, you know, being in Cleveland last year.
But I think we might see we haven't seen a
lot of screen game this year, this year's thus far.
And I think if, like you said, Mike, if Schwartz
is gonna get a little bit aggressive, I wouldn't be
surprised them running a few more screens than we've seen
this year. And Polly, your guy and my guy too.
(38:02):
I helped the extend this guy Kayshawan Boody, this guy's fearless.
I mean if if he matches up against Ward, I
don't think. I don't think this guy's afraid to go
against any cornerback in the league. And I'm not I
don't think Drake May is afraid to put the ball
up beat to him against any cornerback of the league either.
Speaker 4 (38:18):
No, like I said, you get some time for that.
He's not He's not a pending free agent, so you
can you can deal with that next year. I think
there's more pressing needs. But yeah, I mean, I that's
I see the game in a similar way. I just
found it funny. I was like a fretism right there.
I picked twenty to seven to ten earlier in the week.
But I think they could get out of hand, like
(38:39):
twenty seven, not out of hand, like that's a play.
Speaker 5 (38:42):
Yeah, yeah, I think they're guys.
Speaker 13 (38:44):
I'll talk to you about on the post game.
Speaker 4 (38:46):
Sooty.
Speaker 5 (38:48):
Yeah, I thought I was just passing along a note
that Mike Rees passed along from Rabel's appearance with Zoe
on ninety five, saying they had Ben mcaduo put together
an opening script to test the defense this week with
a folks on starting faster, so along the lines of
you know what we're talking about, and I just think
you'll know, I think this game will declare itself pretty quick,
like you'll kind of know.
Speaker 4 (39:09):
Touch back to Vrabel's year in Cleveland too, I think
that he might be better suited to maybe predict what
Kevin Stefanski might want to do with that opening script.
It's no secret that teams have had success. They're going
to look at you know what Carolina did, what Tennessee
did you know what some of these teams have done
(39:29):
early in the games. Maybe try to emulate some of
that stuff, you know, moving the pocket a little bit
with the quarterback, easy throws, you know, quick quick play actions,
dumps to the tight ends to the backs. Yeah, and
try to move the ball that way. But I think
Rabel was in a better position to maybe understand what
Stefanski wants to do, and that could give the Patriots
(39:51):
a leg up today defensively.
Speaker 5 (39:52):
Yeah. Verebel also on Friday was kind of funny. We
were talking about, you know, like May picking his spots
with running and he's like, yeah, I'm not sure this
is the week go through. You know, It's kind of
like one two, it ain't there, get out, So they're
well aware that, you know, this week there's it's not
there's not going to be a whole lot of time
in the pocket, even when there is a little bit
(40:12):
of time. So you know, we just hope Drake continues
to balance picking his runs. I love the slide and
the slide and the drop. The slide and the drop,
like don't like kind of like jump and then get
hit twice and slide the drop first down.
Speaker 4 (40:26):
I was the one that really bothered me the most
when you got high load last week and it looked
like he hurt his knee a little bit. He got
up kind of like, you know, checking his knee out
a little bit there, And those are the ones I
think he needs to do a better job of avoiding.
Speaker 5 (40:38):
Yeah, it's taking don't take. Don't take hits, you don't
need to take.
Speaker 2 (40:41):
He's safe. Nate in Connecticut.
Speaker 5 (40:45):
That put the Paul along on there. He is drew
bledsoe I didn't know he said, did he was he
staying with you this time.
Speaker 4 (40:55):
Or you know, let me check, let me check my chest.
I haven't heard.
Speaker 2 (41:05):
We hate when that happens.
Speaker 5 (41:07):
You're just looking sharp though. This looks pretty good man.
Of course. Also, you know, shout out Lawrence guy will
be ringing the bell today. He announced retired as a Patriot.
You know, the good old l gu was a star
war here for for quite a few years.
Speaker 2 (41:22):
Good players faces in Foxborough.
Speaker 5 (41:24):
You'll see out there. It seems very excited. His wife's
also pregnant with twins now, so good luck with that.
Speaker 2 (41:29):
Lawrence might need to come out of retirement. Let's see
what Nate and Connetic gas to say, Yes, we do,
all right.
Speaker 3 (41:42):
So my my opinion of today's game, I think the
most important part is going to be both of our trenches,
so Old line and D line.
Speaker 8 (41:52):
You know, with the.
Speaker 3 (41:53):
Defense that the Browns presents us, it's going to be
really important that we protect Drake May and with the
run game that the Browns have, it's important that we
need to stop that.
Speaker 2 (42:05):
You know.
Speaker 3 (42:05):
Quinn Sewn Jenkins, he had a he had a good
game last week. Of course it's Dolphins, so obviously Dolphins
aren't the best team, but still he's got a great
set of talent that he's going to be going against
us today. And second off, key on White being a
healthy scratch, you know, with him going back to draft night,
(42:29):
he didn't have the most excited emotion or reaction to
getting drafted by US. And you know, with him being
around for a while, he hasn't been I shouldn't say
he hasn't been good. It's just he hasn't seen much
improvement out of him. I don't I don't know if
(42:49):
his time is going to be here for long, or
if he's gonna stay a Patriot for a good amount
of time. I think he might go to a different
team to try and you know, boost boost his talent.
I really like him as a as a player. It's
just I don't know New England's for him.
Speaker 5 (43:04):
Thanks that think, Yeah, I just I just I think
we kind of heard. I mean, Paul mentioned it three
different coaching staffs, but you heard the same thing from
each of those coaching staffs, like trying to find his spot,
trying to figure out how he fits it.
Speaker 4 (43:15):
Just might be one of those classic tweiners.
Speaker 5 (43:17):
Yeah, just doesn't quite you know, he's he can, I mean,
he can rush over guards, he can you know, be
an interior rusher. I think there's a use there for
him for sure. But you know, they this this defense.
They asked so much to do of those edge guys,
and a lot of it is just get upfield, but
you know sometimes they drop them out too, So I
just he's always been kind of stiff to me. I
think he would be ideal for just kind of like
(43:39):
go get it, but it's been hard for him to
beat tackles. Like I think the length I.
Speaker 4 (43:42):
Would have around scheme would have been better suited for him,
but it hasn't really worked out. And I agree with
with the way Nate said it. I just hasn't been
a great fit. It's he's not without talent. You see
flashes of ability, and the power is what stands out
that that's what the coach has talked about violence, power.
He brings some of that to the table. I just
(44:05):
don't think he has enough versatility to get a full
time role locked down. Like you said, Mike, you're asking
you're asking him at times to be over tackles. At times.
We've seen him over power guards. But it's like, I
don't think he does any of those things well enough
to warrant more playing time, and he's sort of stuck
as sort of a tweeter.
Speaker 5 (44:26):
Yeah, he's just I mean, Chase On's extreme example of
just somebody who is twitchy and has been to him
and you know, and in White seems to get, you know,
if he doesn't get to be honest.
Speaker 4 (44:35):
Ideally, in a perfect world, I don't think he's a
full time player Chase on, but he is much better
at what you're talking about, the twitchy athleticism off the edge,
getting after the quarterback and you know, sometimes he gets
upfield in the run game, but he forces a running
back to make a decision because of his quickness and
pushes it out wide.
Speaker 5 (44:55):
I mean he's you know, not really I mean not
on the stat sheet, but you can see his penetr
caused that play to be blown up. So it's a
spot to keep an eye on, especially I mean half
back for sure. But also you know, one of those
ex positions. And we'll see how they feel about Caleb Murphy,
the kid that they brought in. I mean, doesn't sound
like they have high hopes for him, but I think
they at least feel like he might be a guy
that fits kind of what they're trying to do. So
(45:17):
but they're continuing to turn things over, trying to find
answers at that position.
Speaker 2 (45:20):
All right, Well, time now for over unders because we're
gonna find answers about whether or not we did well
this past week. But this one is brought to you
by Aarons. They're the official lawnmower of the doing the Patriots,
and they're proud to help Patriots fans get back to football.

your errands. All right, Paul Parillo, where are we? It's
(45:43):
right on the screen already.
Speaker 4 (45:44):
Yeah, Mike, Mike four to two, good, good goods. Mike
was four two, kwanty three and three. I was two
and four, so I remained in the basement. Twenty five
and seventeen for Kwannie. Yeah, twenty four and eighteen one
game bag hell for Mike, And yeah, the other guy
is eighteen and twenty four about him to show or something. Loser.
(46:06):
He's a loser, not.
Speaker 5 (46:07):
At all good enough or smart enough.
Speaker 2 (46:09):
And people like you, Paul, We're gonna affirm you every
single week here.
Speaker 4 (46:14):
Unfortunately, I give you guys a lot of need to
have to do that because I think, sorry, all right.
Speaker 2 (46:19):
We're gonna start with Drake May passing yards. That's at
two hundred and twenty two and a half yards.
Speaker 5 (46:25):
Oh, I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go over on this.
Drake is just under and I'm over over. Okay. I
just think Drake and fuego and I think he'll put
the ball down the field a little bit against these guys.
Speaker 4 (46:35):
I'm gonna take the under. And the reason for that
is the Cleveland Browns only allow one hundred and seventy
three and change per game through the air, So I'm
going to say they keep that going. There's a big
gap between one hundred and seventy three and two twenty two.
I think I can live in that. Well.
Speaker 5 (46:52):
Drake May and the rest of the quarterbacks on.
Speaker 2 (46:53):
The mic drop oh no, actually wanted no.
Speaker 4 (46:57):
Game last week.
Speaker 5 (46:59):
Drake May have a good game last week through some
through some passes.
Speaker 4 (47:01):
How many yards you throw for four hundred.
Speaker 2 (47:06):
I'm going to take the over on that as well.
I forget, I'll take the over. It was the way
I could understand your sentiments.
Speaker 5 (47:16):
But you just make up the facts right now, you
get you get me.
Speaker 2 (47:22):
All right? Up next we have Drake May pass attempts
that that twenty nine and a half.
Speaker 4 (47:27):
Oh that's PAULI twenty nine and a half. I'm going
to take the under. I think they want to keep
that lower the way they've done a nice job of recently.
Drake made two hundred and twenty two yards last week,
by the way, two interesting, that's helf yard not so
much of a problem for Paulie.
Speaker 2 (47:45):
So is that half. I'm going to take the under
on this one.
Speaker 5 (47:48):
Yeah, I'm with you, guys. I think if he throws over,
if he throws thirty attempts plus, I think that is
where we're no one expected.
Speaker 3 (47:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (47:57):
Up next, we have total number of field goals made
that's at three and a half, and I will take
the over over with conviction, Over with conviction. Just stand
with your pick.
Speaker 5 (48:11):
Yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna go over to I just
I think Cleveland will kick at least a couple of them.
Speaker 4 (48:16):
Yeah, I'm with you guys.
Speaker 5 (48:18):
Over there we go.
Speaker 4 (48:20):
I think the red zone defenses will be a little bit,
but I think the Patriots red zone defense has been
better as of late. So if Cleveland gets down there,
they yeah, they should be able to force the field goals.
Speaker 2 (48:29):
Yeah, all right. Up next, we have this Sean Jenkins.
Speaker 4 (48:35):
Yeah, rushing yard so this would be a season high
given up by the Patriots. Mike sixty nine and a half.
Speaker 2 (48:41):
Sixty nine and a half still nice because it has
a half.
Speaker 4 (48:45):
Sure, yeah, I mean Gronk would say so.
Speaker 2 (48:47):
Thank you. I love a sound drop.
Speaker 5 (48:51):
I really like this line. I mean, then the Drake
May pass attempts, that's like, what this goes over? It's
gonna be crazy. But Judskins, I feel like if he's
you know, rushing over this, then it really might. I
give the Browns the spark of life that they desperately need.
But I'm gonna bet on the Patriots defense. I'm gonna
stay under they keep it going.
Speaker 4 (49:08):
I'm gonna take the under as well, for the same
reason why I took the under and Drake may passing
yards Cleveland. The Patriots haven't allowed a single fifty yard
Russia all year. I'm gonna stick with the trends. There's
a big gap between fifty and seventy. I'm gonna I'm
gonna take this three for three.
Speaker 2 (49:23):
Unders, all right up next, total touchdowns four and a half.
Why did I take the.
Speaker 5 (49:32):
Molly?
Speaker 3 (49:33):
What do you got?
Speaker 4 (49:33):
I'm gonna take the under. I just don't see Cleveland
getting any or many. Let's put it that way. Maybe
they get one. That would mean Patriots would have to
score four. Yeah, how I did that quick math? In
my hell, you're smart, look at you under?
Speaker 2 (49:49):
You don't I'm gonna be crazy.
Speaker 5 (49:51):
And go over.
Speaker 2 (49:53):
Yeah, why not, sugar, that's the game I want to see.
Speaker 5 (49:57):
Yeah, this is a good number. Shoot, I'm gonna go over. Yeah,
I think I think it hit five.
Speaker 4 (50:03):
This is how I end up.
Speaker 5 (50:04):
Into Paul's coffin right now.
Speaker 2 (50:09):
And then last but not week right, forty two and
a half total score? Do your maths, I guess I'm first,
right you are? I am? Oh forty two and a half.
Though by four, I'm gonna take the over, taking over
even though it doesn't really make sense. Math not my.
Speaker 5 (50:29):
Stronger And now I'm doing my math and it doesn't
make sense.
Speaker 2 (50:32):
It was a Comms major for a reason.
Speaker 5 (50:33):
It doesn't make sense to my total touchdowns ur on
my final score. But I'm gonna I'm gonna go under.
Speaker 3 (50:38):
On this one.
Speaker 4 (50:38):
Okay, Yeah, I'm taking the under as well. I don't
believe in the Browns offense to muster much if.
Speaker 2 (50:45):
If they believe in their offense either, we'll see all right.
Time now for the Sunday six pack. It's brought to
you by the Massachusetts fifty campaign commemorating a history of possibility.
You can plan your revolutionary weekend at Massachusetts two fifty
dot org. All right, how did we do last week?
Speaker 9 (51:03):
Ball?
Speaker 4 (51:03):
So last week Kwannie went six and oh yes, like
four and two and poopy Pants again.
Speaker 2 (51:13):
Was an error because didn't I take the giants and
they lost one?
Speaker 13 (51:16):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (51:16):
They covered? Oh okay, here, I'm trying to be honest.
She doesn't even know how I'm playing the game.
Speaker 4 (51:23):
Okay, Mike, Mike, it's time to work out. Hilarious, she's
beating us and she doesn't know how to play. Okay,
I do know how to keep okay, two, she's not
just winning. By the way, twenty two and sixteen, you
and I have blow five hundred, eighteen and twenty and
seventeen and twenty one. So what the sharps know? We
(51:43):
we stink? But Kwanni good good, Thank you guys.
Speaker 2 (51:47):
Again, Beginner's luck always hopes.
Speaker 5 (51:50):
All right, I don't say, just say you're right.
Speaker 2 (51:52):
You know what. I know what I'm talking about, and
I'm making good decisions.
Speaker 5 (51:55):
Swammy the Prognosticator.
Speaker 2 (51:57):
All right, up, first, in this week six pack, we
have Miami at Atlanta. Atlanta with seven.
Speaker 5 (52:04):
And seven and a half read. So Michael Penni is
not playing, He's out, London's out, Kirk Cuz.
Speaker 14 (52:10):
With no trake speaking of right on the screen. Shoot,
I'm gonna I know, stressful, stressful. I'm gonna just take Miami.
I just think it's a close game.
Speaker 5 (52:21):
How about that. I'm gonna take Miami plus seven point five.
Speaker 4 (52:24):
I'm going to take Atlanta. I do think there's a
chance that Kirk Cousins, you know.
Speaker 5 (52:30):
A year removed, maybe to get traded.
Speaker 4 (52:32):
Maybe maybe he comes in and just lights up a
team that I think is in utter disarray in Miami.
This is more of an anti Miami pick than a
pro Atlanta one, But I do think there's a chance
that Kirk Cousins has a big day today.
Speaker 2 (52:44):
I don't believe in the Dolphins at all, but after
getting embarrassed last week by the Browns, I want to
imagine they'll do better. So that's the rationale in me
picking them for this week. But again, I don't really
believe in them.
Speaker 4 (52:56):
And with one pick in and I am on an island.
Speaker 6 (53:01):
All right.
Speaker 2 (53:01):
Up Next we have the zero and seven Jets at
the Cincinnati Bengals. Cincinnati with six Man.
Speaker 4 (53:08):
So I like the Bengals with Joe Flacco. I think
that those two receivers are liking the idea of having
a guy who can get the ball to them, push
it downfield a little bit. And as Flacco said, if
you can't get these two guys involved, you're not doing
it right. I'm going to I'm gonna ride the Bengals.
Speaker 2 (53:24):
With you on the Bengals.
Speaker 5 (53:26):
Yeah, I'm going to ride the Bengals.
Speaker 9 (53:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (53:28):
Let's let's all get on the best.
Speaker 2 (53:29):
That's the one wise decision we all made today. All right,
Up next, we have the New York Giants at the
Philadelphia Eagles. Philadelphia with seven and a half.
Speaker 5 (53:38):
It's a good one.
Speaker 2 (53:40):
I'll take the Eagles because, yeah, about this matchup.
Speaker 5 (53:46):
I just I feel like the Giants are gonna just
continue to play fast and loose. I'm gonna go with
the Giants. I still think Philly wins, but I'm gonna
take the Giants.
Speaker 2 (53:54):
Look all the turntables turned they have.
Speaker 4 (53:56):
Yeah, I'm going to take the Eagles here. I think
there's a chance that they they win this one going
away because they're gonna remember the game a couple of
weeks ago that the Giants beat them, and I think
that the psychological damage of losing the way the Giants did,
I think could linger. We'll see, yeah, we'll see, all right.
Speaker 2 (54:13):
Up next Tampa Bay at New Orleans, Tampa four and a.
Speaker 5 (54:17):
Half, mikempa Bay. Yeah, they just I mean, they continue
to cycle guys in and out, but I think they're
getting a little healthy there. For the bucks, I'm gonna go.
I'm gonna take the bucks.
Speaker 4 (54:28):
I'll lay the four and a half. Yeah. I like
the bucks in this one as well. Tampa, I mean,
New Orleans not really generating a whole lot consistently offensively.
I'll take the bucks, even though they're.
Speaker 2 (54:38):
Right at home, just because so I'm on an island.
Now you go six and oh well, I gotta make
risky decisions, all right. Watching the Commanders at Kansas City.
Chiefs Kansas City with a twelve and a half.
Speaker 4 (54:51):
That's a big spread. I like Kansas City. I like
the way they're playing offensively. I think that they're quote
unquote back, but that's a lot of points Commanders getting
some players back. Looks like McLaurin and deebo are in.
I know they'll be dealing with Marcus Mariota. But Mariota's
gone into Arrowhead and beaten the Chiefs in a big
game before, so I think you can keep it close enough.
(55:14):
I'll take Washington.
Speaker 2 (55:17):
I'm gonna take Kansas City at home. I'm thinking of
the home teams now.
Speaker 5 (55:21):
Yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna roll the dice on Kansas
City too. I just they scare me. I hate picking
against them.
Speaker 2 (55:26):
Yeah, generally speaking, all right, last, but not opportunity. No, Yeah,
we'll see your way the best for last as usual.
The Cleveland Browns here at Foxborough against the New England Patriots,
New England with seven on that one. You guys know
what you're up. Up up, I'm picking the Patriots.
Speaker 5 (55:47):
You're gonna pick them? Yeah, Okay, I.
Speaker 2 (55:49):
Can't remember the last time I have it now at
this point, and I'm not pandering. They better win this one.
Speaker 5 (55:56):
Yeah, I got the Patriots too. I'm gonna say Patriots
twenty eight to thirteen. Just I want to see him
get off to a good start, and we'd love to see,
you know, just continue to see I don't think Drake's
going to complete ninety percent of his passes today, but
just to see him continue to stay on this white
hot heater he's been on. It doesn't have to be perfect,
but if he can just avoid any turnovers, you know,
(56:16):
even if there's one, but just don't limit the turnovers,
I think they'll be okay. But I just let get
more exciting by the week watching this kid play, and
I'm just more than anything excited to see how he
does against this new challenge here today. So defense get
a stop right out of the gate Patriots role.
Speaker 4 (56:33):
So I think the Patriots are going to win this game.
And I don't think there's going to be very many
times during the course of the day where we're frustrated
and wondering, you know, why do the Patriots keep doing this?
Why do they keep letting these teams? But I do
respect the Browns defense. I think that they will keep
them in the game and they'll make it a little
bit more lower scoring. I don't think Cleveland will ever
(56:54):
threaten to win it. But I am going to take
the points and say that the Patriots wins, say maybe
twenty to six something like that, with the last score
going to Cleveland, you know, not really that clob Maybe
it's you know, maybe it's twenty to ten, but twenty
to nine and Cleveland gets an oh, by the way
touchdown a back door cover. I don't think the Patriots
will be in trouble today, but I do respect the
(57:17):
Browns defense.
Speaker 5 (57:18):
YEP.
Speaker 2 (57:18):
Got to before we close out, I'm going to read
one more email from Steven In for Drum New York
because we didn't talk as much about the run game
in this pregame show. He says, I'll be curious to
see how Henderson and Judkins will compare today after each
seems to be facing a defense that feeds their skill set,
Anderson in a space against hyper aggressive defenses, and of
course junkins against a soft secondary. What do you two think?
Speaker 5 (57:41):
Yeah, I mean, well, I don't know how apt to compare.
I mean, these guys both went to our state. But
I mean, this is what Judkins was meant for, early
down carries, pound the ball. You know, Henderson has had
a learning curve playing on third down plane against the
pass and all that, so you know the use is
just going to be different. And that's, you know, part
of when you chose to take this guy.
Speaker 4 (57:58):
This is what you were You know, at some point
Henderson's probably gonna flash and have a game. But it's
it's almost impossible to predict when it's going to be.
At this point, I'm with Mike. I think this game
is more about Stevenson in Judkins than it is Henderson
and Judkins makes sense.
Speaker 11 (58:15):
You know.
Speaker 4 (58:16):
It's like again, I'm not giving up on Henderson, but
I don't think he's in every down back. I think
he's a third down back. He might get in space
and make a player or two, but Judkins is the
guy that's going to be. You know, Cleveland wants to
get him fifteen plus carries, yeah, I.
Speaker 5 (58:29):
Mean, you know, and try to get Henderson in space
a little bit.
Speaker 2 (58:32):
You know.
Speaker 5 (58:32):
I just think there's been a lot of runs with
him up the middle. I think we'd all love to
I mean, they tried screen passes and they just look
kind of clunky or they've gotten blown up and that
kind of thing. So I agree with Paul though, it's
a matter of time until Travon Henderson breaks a play
like he's too good. But you know, you want to
see some of what we saw this summer, which was,
you know, in some of those preseason games, guys that
you know, taking contact at the six yard line and
(58:53):
bouncing through and getting upfield and picking up additional yards
after contact. So that's you know where I'd like to
see trevon. But it's a matter of time before he
has a big game and then everyone will be like,
all right, how it is?
Speaker 4 (59:05):
It just amazes me every week it's all about his usage,
Like it's all the coaches fault every week. At some point,
you got to be responsible for your performance.
Speaker 5 (59:13):
Yep, very fair.
Speaker 2 (59:16):
Well that does it. I'm flying once again. It's almost
kickoff time here at Edgelette Stadium. Thank you so much
