by Duncin.
Speaker 4 (00:45):
It's Thursday night, it's cold, it's raining, but that does
not matter because the Patriots are taking on the Jets
tonight at Jellette Stadium. I'm, of course here, joined by
Mike Duso. I'm Quantilnis Papa Rollo. We'll be here in
just a second, so don't be concerned. But he's doing
his radio hits. But how are you feeling.
Speaker 5 (01:02):
I feel a little bit like it was a very
short week, but excited to get out here.
Speaker 6 (01:07):
Tonight. The energy has been pretty good. I thought the.
Speaker 5 (01:08):
Weather is matching. Of course the rivalry, which you know
have the storm.
Speaker 6 (01:12):
Blue on here. Good. So excited to see those uniforms
out there.
Speaker 5 (01:15):
It's been a long time coming, and yeah, it feels
like the weather matches what you kind of came up
with it.
Speaker 6 (01:21):
It's not quite a nor reach.
Speaker 4 (01:22):
They manifested it through the uniform right, It's not.
Speaker 5 (01:24):
Quite like the Bills when the Patriots played the Bills
and you're like, that's a white out. But it's early October,
not quite yet, but but no excited to just check
another game off the box. This is a you know,
Patriots have been going here for ten straight weeks and
now it's a chance for them to get a little
bit of a break. I think they have to really
kind of suck it up tonight. You heard guys in
the locker room this week. We know by now how
(01:45):
difficult it is for NFL players to turn around on
this short week.
Speaker 6 (01:48):
They all have to do it though, you have experience
doing it now.
Speaker 5 (01:51):
So the hope Patriots are going to come out with
good energy right from the start and maybe set a
great tone.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
Absolutely, and I think people will look at the Jets
record to at this point in the season and say,
all right, this should be an easy one. But we
know any given night, especially on a Thursday night against
the AFC East rival, anything is possible.
Speaker 5 (02:09):
And it lookd the just a one two in a row.
They've also just had a bye week the week before.
They beat the Browns last week, so they're a little
bit more rested perhaps for this short week.
Speaker 6 (02:17):
So it's a big challenge for the Patriots.
Speaker 5 (02:19):
These divisional games always close, seems like, I mean, there
have been, you know, like the butt fumble game, some
of those get out of hand a little bit, but
generally speaking, this even when the Patriots with the height
of their powers Jets, Jets, Patriots, it's it's always a war.
So I expect nothing less tonight, and you just hope
that it's not sloppy.
Speaker 6 (02:37):
Yeah, that's the big part of it.
Speaker 4 (02:38):
I hope it's a close game like up until maybe
the beginning of the third and then just blow them
away because we don't need any.
Speaker 5 (02:45):
No, well no, and that's in a look in this
Jets team. You look at how they won last week
with your special team scores. They have a very good
special team.
Speaker 6 (02:53):
So you can't lose this game in the margins.
Speaker 5 (02:56):
If you're the Patriots, you need to come out and
it might be tough to run a little bit.
Speaker 6 (03:00):
Love to see Drake may throw the ball around.
Speaker 5 (03:02):
Take advantage of this secondary that is even more shorthanded
than when they traded Sasgardner a couple weeks ago.
Speaker 4 (03:07):
Exactly, which blew everyone in the NFL by surprise. But
that being said, we know that there's a lot that
they're going to need to do either way to win
this game. Let's get into the keys of the game.
Speaker 6 (03:18):
You waited all week for.
Speaker 5 (03:20):
The whole team's in the locker room right now, just
listening to this, waiting to hear what you're gonna say.
Speaker 4 (03:23):
Here are this week's keys to the game. All right,
So Paul doesn't make it a time, you have the honor.
Speaker 6 (03:31):
We'll save his for the ends exactly.
Speaker 4 (03:32):
But until then, I'll let you go over it.
Speaker 7 (03:34):
No.
Speaker 6 (03:34):
I hinted at what mine are, and that start fast.
Come out. This Jets team.
Speaker 5 (03:38):
They want to run the ball, and they've got a
very diverse run game that throw a lot at you.
You feel good about the Patriots run defense, but you
want to take that Jets run game out of this game?
Speaker 6 (03:47):
How do you do that?
Speaker 5 (03:48):
You go out, you get a lead, you take you
force them to have to throw the ball to get
back into the game. So, especially as the game wears on,
you feel like the bumps and bruises and aches and
pains are going to start to pile up a little
bit more on the short week, especially with you whether
it's not ideal. So Patriots love to see them come
out and start fast, and talks all season long, twenty
(04:09):
talk about.
Speaker 6 (04:09):
That defense, and last week I felt.
Speaker 4 (04:11):
Like, ah, it'll be fine.
Speaker 6 (04:13):
You know, and I tonight I'd love to see them
be able. You don't want to see the.
Speaker 5 (04:17):
Jets come out and throw the ball and go down
the field and score a quick touchdown like this Patriots
defense has you know, consistently allowed this year.
Speaker 6 (04:25):
Let's be honest.
Speaker 5 (04:26):
There haven't been a lot of you know, flaws to
point out with them, but that is certainly one of them.
Speaker 6 (04:30):
So fast start for me tonight, both starts.
Speaker 5 (04:32):
Starts to the ball, get a stop, get out there,
maybe put points on the board, start to eke away
and force the Jets into their passing game. Don't let
them get a lead, and then now they can run
the ball and everything's on the table for their offense.
Speaker 6 (04:45):
So come out big start tonight.
Speaker 4 (04:47):
And to your point with the passing game, justin field
is proving that he's not necessarily that guy for them,
and mine is very similar. It's ground stop putting aside
the true problems in the real world with airplanes. But
it was really just focusing on the fact that we
talked about the Patriots run game. Yes, we saw some
leaks last week against the Buccaneers, but they have a
really good run defense and if Brisol is going to
(05:09):
be really is really their only weapon in this one offensively,
make sure he doesn't get any X plays, especially knowing
that he's known for that. He's very elusive. You don't
exactly know how to contain him sometimes, but you have
to because if he's going to go off, it's going
to be in a game like this where they're franchise,
it's trying to turn a new leaf. They have to
in a row. They're energized, but this is not the
(05:29):
one to let them win.
Speaker 5 (05:30):
Yeah, no, it's great. I mean he look, I don't
know what percentage of his offense he had last week.
I'm gonna say it's like sixty seventy percent. Yeah, you know,
big touchdown, catch and run for him. So he's a
versatile guy. I mean a couple of weeks ago when
at the trade deadline, a lot of people were saying, oh,
the Patriots should try to go get Breese Hall, and
you can see why. He's a really good player. You know,
unfortunately he's had some injuries and he's also just you know,
been on this Jets team.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
I mean, he's carrying the team on his back right right, But.
Speaker 5 (05:54):
You can't allow him to get going tonight. And like
you said, the Patriots run defense has been really good.
Said at this it's you know, even when they missed tackles,
they are so aggressive. They play with you know what
Mike Rabels said, all year, effort and finish.
Speaker 6 (06:07):
You see that jump off the field on the defensive
side of the ball.
Speaker 5 (06:10):
Even when they miss a tackle, there's three more guys
coming in to secure the tackles. So they've got to
play like that tonight. This is going to be a
like I said, it's a verse run game with a
lot of different things that they're going to throw at
the Patriots defense. So a new interesting challenge there. But
I agree with you generally. I mean, it's just they
keep an eye on breist Hall, don't let him get going.
And you know, throw it back to a couple of
years ago when Justin Fields was here with the Bears,
(06:31):
and man, I mean that was I want to say,
I don't know, like one of the best games of
his career. He was running all over the place. The
Patriots had no answers for him. So you can't let
that happen either tonight. Those guys can scoot. So Patriots
run defense a lot on them today. Set the tone early,
force him into third and longs favorable.
Speaker 6 (06:47):
Situations for New England one hundre. So I guess, so
I get to bang out Paul. Sorry Paul? What if
Paul come up with pay special attention?
Speaker 5 (06:57):
And this is a good one. And again it feeds
into you know what I just said. They had two
special team scores last week. If you look at DVOA.
Speaker 6 (07:05):
Advanced stat they have the number one special teams in
the league. And this year, you know, you're seeing the
kickoff return that they had.
Speaker 5 (07:12):
This is an easy way for the Patriots to allow
the game to get out of their control, to allow
special team scores.
Speaker 6 (07:18):
Winning in the margins.
Speaker 5 (07:19):
These little things, the mistakes, that's what the Jets need
to rely on tonight to get wins. You know, to
get a win, they need to have great special teams play,
they need to maybe turn the ball over a couple times,
and they need to be in control so that they
can really lean into that run game. So you're seeing here.
I mean it's also you know, Will McDonald also earlier
this year had a fifty yard blocked field goal return.
So they've had three touchdowns this year on special teams
(07:42):
and as an area that I'm sure Jeremy Springer this
week was stressing to them on the short week, you know,
this is we've got to be really good kickoffs, punt returns,
those kind of things. And also too, like on the
Patriots own side of the ball, Marcus Jones put one
on the ball, you know, like, I mean, look, he's
been awesome defensive player of the month last month, but
would love to see maybe a boost there. We all
remember a couple of years ago Marcus Jones of course
(08:03):
had a walk off punt return touchdown.
Speaker 6 (08:06):
Against these very Jets on his rookie season.
Speaker 5 (08:09):
So something like that, if the Patriots could not only
contain the Jets special teams, but maybe deliver some plays
of their own.
Speaker 6 (08:16):
Be huge, huge key tonight.
Speaker 4 (08:17):
Yeah, and I well, I mentioned the talk about this
being a trap game, and I'm not trying to be
funny when I say this, but I really think the
Patriots should look at this as a live scrimmage in
the sense of getting reps in where your special teams
can kind of capitalize on maybe things they need to
work on your defense, find things that they can work
on as well. Drake, make continue.
Speaker 5 (08:34):
From your words to the football gods years because I
would love nothing more again out you know at eleven
o'clock tonight is the game's coming down to the end
and then trying to figure out But you know, along
those lines, you probably mentioned some of the the the
inactives too, you know, Kayshan Boody, Ramondre Stevenson. Those guys
were out. Christian Ellis also was out last week, so
(08:57):
I'm interested to see Jack Gibbons. He was also played
a lot last week. You had him on the good list,
he played pretty well.
Speaker 6 (09:03):
He was on the injury port this week with a
hamstring as well, So you know, are those guys able
to go?
Speaker 5 (09:08):
We talk about the run defense, needing to be stout,
needing to be on their game tonight against Breese Hall. Uh,
we'll see if Jack Gibbons is limited in anyway, Might
you know, highlight Shavoni Tavai to get some more time
or even Marte Maphu. Last one I'll just mention is
Austin Hooper who sustained a concussion last week. He missed
practice as well, something I don't think we quite clocked
coming out of that game. No promotion for from the
(09:31):
practice squad for any of the tight ends down there,
So you're really left with Hunter Henry and I guess
we could call Jack Westover a tight end.
Speaker 6 (09:37):
He's been kind of more of an h back.
Speaker 5 (09:39):
But Patriots have leaned into the two tight ends this
year and that's been, you know, a big factor for them.
So a little bit of a challenge for them to
get away from that as we welcome Paulian Oh.
Speaker 4 (09:47):
He did a great job at sharing your key today.
Speaker 6 (09:49):
I think I did.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
I'm here, So where do I need to clean off
and fix.
Speaker 4 (09:56):
And let him know what we could have done better?
Speaker 3 (09:58):
I know, I'm sure Mike did a good job. Like
I'm trying, you know, I just you know, I just
talked on the sports doing the same thing. I'm just
I'm trying to figure out something we may have overlooked.
You know, how could this game? Why do all these
Thursday night division games they all tend to be close,
of course, and none of us really sees this game
as being overly close. So what are we missing?
Speaker 6 (10:18):
What?
Speaker 3 (10:18):
And I'm trying to find something. The best I could
come up with is the Jets have been really good
on special teams and in the return games. So you
got to be focused in the kicking game tonight and
make sure you don't give away any free points.
Speaker 5 (10:32):
Yeah, generally true, I mean, and that's it feeds into
me too. I just we said it all week in
the margins, you know the little things this week, good kickoffs,
good field position. You know, that's where you, I think,
slowly have to strangle this Jets team out.
Speaker 6 (10:43):
I don't.
Speaker 5 (10:44):
I mean, I would be surprised to see Patriots come
out and just touched down to you know, put points
right on the board.
Speaker 6 (10:49):
Think it'll be more of a little bit of a grind.
Speaker 5 (10:51):
These games usually are a grind, whether it's a Thursday
night football game or a divisional game. Generally so, but
you don't beat yourself, you're consistent, you build a lead
I think would be okay.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
And like you mentioned, I think the other unpredictable factor
is the mental stamina. Are you able to turn around
after a win on the road last week and just
give it your all against again A still a bad team,
but one that is clearly going to play up to
this rivalry because they they were hungry.
Speaker 6 (11:15):
For Yeah, I mean, I'm curious where the Jets mindset is.
Speaker 5 (11:18):
I mean, they have won two games in a row,
They've had their buy, they offloaded a couple.
Speaker 6 (11:21):
Of big players.
Speaker 5 (11:22):
There's no question that they're about to enter another rebuild
of some sorts. And I guess it's always been one
continuous rebuild ball since since maybe the late sixties. But uh,
you know, what is their mental state like tonight, and
that you know, feeds more into mind of start fast.
You know, don't give these guys hope. Don't make them think, hey,
we're going to get a three game win streak.
Speaker 3 (11:40):
And you're right, Mike, because they won the last two. Mentally,
they're probably going to, hey, you know, all right, let's
show so let's continue to show some pride and let's
let's try to make it three in a row. And
I saw our stat today was kind of crazy. They're
trying to become just the second team since twenty eleven
to win three in a row after starting zero and seven.
Like so it's rare, you know, it's rare ground that
(12:04):
they're trying to walk on right now. Again, I'm trying
to find ways, you know, to figure out how the
Jets might be dangerous, but it's a team that wants
to run. You know, they're very effective in the run
game with Breze Hall. I think they're in the top
five rushing. You know, part of that is justin fields
with his legs, but Breese Hall is a really good
(12:25):
running back too, and the Patriots just have been so
stout against the run that you wonder if the Patriots
do what they've done the first ten weeks of the
season defensively, this is a team that threw for you
know what, it was it forty four yards last week,
fifty four yards last week. Now they only threw the
ball eleven times. But just you wonder where the Jets
(12:46):
are going to go for offense if Breese Hall can't
carry them.
Speaker 4 (12:48):
And Brisall versus the Patriots defense seems like the main
matchup in this one, which to your point, I was
actually gonna ask you both when you look at this
Jets defense, is this a game where they're man cover
is coming into play because of the fact that they
just clearly don't know how to think at this paint.
Speaker 5 (13:05):
Well, you know, they're, yeah, they're an aggressive man defense team,
and I mean, you know, talking to Evan Lazarre this
week saying that might have been part of the reason
why they were willing to move on from Sauce Gardner.
But overall, I think to me, it's just hard to
hard to know what to think of the Patriots run
game tonight.
Speaker 6 (13:22):
Terrell Jennings left last game.
Speaker 5 (13:24):
He questioned if he was even going to play tonight again,
asking a lot of Travon Henderson. Will they stick to
the run if it's not working or do you take
to the air a little bit even if it's a
little rainy. It doesn't seem like it's too bad, But
you know, target these guys that in the in the
secondary of the Jets, I mean, no more Sauce Azarai
Thomas is out as well. Who was his filling, So
you're down at least to the third cornerback on one
(13:46):
side over there, so good challenge, got rid.
Speaker 3 (13:49):
Of Michael Cutt.
Speaker 6 (13:49):
Oh there you go.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
Yeah, I mean that that's kind of what we're talking about.
It's it's a personnel issue on that side, Kwannie. The
Jets don't have enough. And you know, we're making jokes
about it, and we'll we'll talk you know, a little
later to uh is it Brian Castello. We got this week,
you know, and get a little bit of that side
of it. But I just the Patriots would have to
(14:14):
at least, at the very least be co conspirators in
their demise tonight to lose this game. I think if
they come out and play a reasonably sound game, I
can't imagine the Jets having enough to to do it.
You know, against Cleveland. You could go out and the
Jets could sort of match up personnel wise and you know,
and have a fair fight and if they make a
(14:34):
couple of plays they can win. That's not going to
be good enough. If the Jets come out and try
to match up personnel wise, I think they're on the
short end of it, and more more spots than not.
Speaker 5 (14:44):
I want to see them avoid not sloppy start come
out feel like they're a little bit disjointed. That would
be you know, bad signed right out of the gate,
and again just goes back to my key of start
fast on both sides of the ball.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
I think that's that's very smart, Mike. You take away
they will right off the go.
Speaker 8 (14:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (14:58):
I like you try to take the running game out
of it, you know.
Speaker 5 (15:00):
So it's, uh, it's just I know how much of
a challenge it is this week being in the locker
room and you can see those guys when we went
in there on Monday and you know, they didn't know
what day it was. I mean, mill Williams like, I
haven't even looked at the Jets yet. Uh So it's
you know, it's just it's definitely a challenge. But I
think at this point these guys have been doing it
long enough that the veterans know how to kind of
handle it, and you know, hopefully that they're able to
(15:21):
get the preparation they need in the condensed practice week
and still go out and you know, play strong right
from the get go.
Speaker 2 (15:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (15:26):
And Drake May's doing this. You mentioned them not knowing
what data is. Drake May reportedly on the plane back
from Tampa Bay already prepping for this one because he
has you know, he's right also very hungry for this one.
All right, Well, like you said, we're going to get
into behind enemy lines shortly, but before we do that,
we have some calls. So why not head to Connecticut
where Nate is.
Speaker 9 (15:45):
Hello Nate, Hey, guys can guys here we will.
Speaker 4 (15:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (15:51):
I think this is going to be another big game
for Kyle Williams in my opinion, whether that's getting started
early in the game or whether that's you know, when
we're I think this is going to be a blowout win.
So I think whether that's you know, late into the game,
when we're up by a baby twenty thirty points, you know,
we get him some good reps. But I think I
(16:11):
think it's going to be a good game for Kyle
Williams again. And on a side note, I had Travon
Henderson starting in fantasy.
Speaker 10 (16:19):
Uh.
Speaker 9 (16:19):
He did pretty good last week, so I'm just hoping
he does good again.
Speaker 4 (16:23):
Go back, Fingers crossed for you.
Speaker 5 (16:25):
Good luck to your fantasy teammate. We're pulling forward, of course.
You know, I just see a little more volume from
Kyle Williams. You know that's to me, it's a you know,
it's yeah, it's a good game. It's the one it's
I mean, the guy flew up the sidelines. I mean,
you know, he showed the speed that we've been waiting for.
But how about a little more volume, how about a
little bit more underneath stuff and see you know what
he can do taking some contact and you know, I
(16:46):
just love to see him continue to progress.
Speaker 6 (16:48):
I think would be a great bonus.
Speaker 3 (16:49):
I'd like to see nate prediction come true because he
made a good play last week. Yeah, you know, I'd
like to see him have a good game this week.
Speaker 6 (16:56):
Yeah there's a difference, Yeah, yeah, for sure.
Speaker 5 (16:58):
And you know, even with with Hooper out, I mean
it's you know, trickle down effect, no Booty, no Hooper,
some of the pass catches are out. So maybe it does,
you know, open up some more opportunities in the paste
a little bit.
Speaker 3 (17:07):
And with a guy like that, like because of where
he is in his career and trying to develop and
you know, car for Niche, I would rather see him
catch like five passes for fifty yards tonight than you know,
one for seventy two in a touchdown. Now normally I'll
take the big play like Kayshawn Boody has been excellent
at that this year, like two or three catches, but
like a touchdown or you know, a big play, and
(17:29):
that's great when but he's already established. I'd like to
see Kyle Williams get himself established, earn some trust from
Drake May be a bigger part of the offense as
opposed to being on the receiving end of one play
that he I mean obviously turned on the jets and
went flying up a sideline. But you know, four or
five catches, maybe you know, six or seven targets show
(17:51):
everybody that Drake May is now has the truck. Kyle
Williams in the trust tree and trust circle.
Speaker 6 (17:57):
Like to be in the trust tree. Yeah, well, it's
to your point two, Paul.
Speaker 5 (18:00):
You've pointed out, I mean a couple of times where
it just hasn't looked quite right with the connection between
him and May and maybe a little bit.
Speaker 3 (18:05):
More Voulucan argument, it didn't look quite right on that
play right where Drake is sort of looking over the
middle to Mac Collins and then makes an unbelievable throw,
you know, with his body going the other way to
the outside again Williams makes the play after the catch,
it's sixty or so yards after the catch, shows his
unbelievable speed that we saw all all sudder. So yeah,
(18:28):
the volume of it though, might you know, indicate the
targets one catch.
Speaker 5 (18:31):
Right, knowing where to sit down and zone. You know,
it's just growing chemistry with Drake May. That would be
that the storyline like.
Speaker 3 (18:38):
Nate scenario, would be really really fun to watch tonight
and really encouraging because then you get Booty back and
now you have all these guys that you can rely on.
Speaker 5 (18:46):
Yeah, And that's and that I think you made a
good point, Paul, is that you know, Booty has that
downfield ability and what I see kind of missing to
round this offense out is just kind of a game
breaker that can take something underneath it and take it long.
You've seen Pop Douglas develop into a little bit more
of a downfield receiver. He's kind of carving out his
role within this offense. But you know, I said this week,
(19:07):
I saw Kendrick Bourne, you know, doing some things over
the last few weeks and it's like, you know, he.
Speaker 6 (19:10):
Can still run pretty well.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
He does.
Speaker 6 (19:11):
Yeh, see Kyle do it?
Speaker 5 (19:13):
So you know that kind of stuff I think is
something that this offense could really benefit for you benefit from.
Speaker 6 (19:18):
You've got Mac Collins as a big guy.
Speaker 5 (19:20):
One hundred yards last week, one hundred yards a couple
of weeks ago as well.
Speaker 6 (19:24):
I feel like the.
Speaker 5 (19:25):
Spectrum is pretty much covered in terms of the kind
of receivers you want. But that's one element that if
Kyle Williams can become a catch and run kind of player, I.
Speaker 6 (19:33):
Think they'll be really cooking with gas on offense.
Speaker 4 (19:35):
And this is a perfect segue because Kyle Williams the
prediction from Francisco last week. I believe we have video
of something very special from Kyle Williams in a second.
We'll get to it second. I didn't know that we want.
Speaker 5 (19:52):
Shout out Francisco for the prediction of me with my
fifty yarder, fifty plus yarder.
Speaker 6 (19:57):
Appreciate everything.
Speaker 4 (19:58):
Man, keep coming with them predictions, and we got something
coming away. I love it.
Speaker 6 (20:04):
There you go. Well, do you want to hear what
Francisco's predictions were?
Speaker 3 (20:07):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (20:07):
I would love to.
Speaker 6 (20:08):
So what do we got, Paul? We have an efton
Chisholm touchdown.
Speaker 5 (20:11):
Chisholm touchdown anytime touchdown and Carlton Davis and Christian Zalez
both coming up with their first interceptions of the year.
That was from Francisco the Prognosticator. I said he was
doing some work this week. It just comes to him. Yeah,
so we'll see.
Speaker 4 (20:26):
Does he also want to say that I randomly run
into a million dollars when I leave Jillette Stadium tonight?
Speaker 6 (20:31):
Oh? Really?
Speaker 4 (20:32):
Yeah, I'm asking for him to predict that.
Speaker 6 (20:35):
I would like to put a bag.
Speaker 4 (20:36):
It will split it the three of us. We just
won't be here next week.
Speaker 6 (20:39):
Yeah, give the what's going on in the state of tonight?
I don't think there's a million dollars lying around. Maybe
maybe you run into some rivalry swag.
Speaker 4 (20:45):
You'll get Drake May leading off the team team look like.
Speaker 3 (20:51):
This before getting chills.
Speaker 6 (20:52):
Yeah, there you go, the.
Speaker 3 (20:53):
Nice I like the shirts.
Speaker 6 (20:56):
I want to say, you know, I always say you
need to see him on the field.
Speaker 3 (20:59):
Together with the and everything and your thoughts, I mean,
you know, humbly turn it over to you are experts,
very solid, nonsense, no, very very solid, such very solid,
And I just I'd like to shout out.
Speaker 5 (21:16):
The numbers because we like, we like the nineties Patriots
and a little bit of a look there that's reminiscent
of those old Bledsoe jerseys that I do not like
in the mid nineties.
Speaker 3 (21:27):
You don't like the jersey, but I do like. I
do like these jersey.
Speaker 6 (21:30):
But a little bit of a shout out.
Speaker 5 (21:32):
And you know, you look at the other rivalry uniforms
and the other seven teams that did it this year,
and and most of them are blackouts, are white out.
Speaker 3 (21:39):
So you know, I give, I give the Patriots. I
really like buffaloes. Yeah, but I like the I like
these more. This is probably I haven't I haven't seen
the other ones.
Speaker 6 (21:47):
Get you guys, Yeah, I mean Miami, I.
Speaker 3 (21:53):
Gotta, I gotta football fashion. I need to see a game,
you know. So I saw Awflos and I saw the Patriots.
I don't think I've seen anybody else's.
Speaker 4 (22:02):
Well, tell me there's you don't know the material of
this uniform.
Speaker 6 (22:05):
Yeah, it's good material there getting a good luck, getting
a goodluck y uh.
Speaker 5 (22:11):
But no, I just the Cardinals did uh, you know,
kind of a sand texture color.
Speaker 6 (22:16):
And otherwise it was a lot of blackouts and whiteouts,
which you know, sometimes they look good. But I just
I would look at the bills and I'm like that,
I don't know what team that is. That's you know,
they're all that. I don't know, but it's different, and
you're like, who could.
Speaker 3 (22:28):
I really like this uniform too, I just it's I
like the numb like the numbers. I like, yeah, it's
kind of like that meshy kind of thing. And then
I like the raised any on the shoulder.
Speaker 4 (22:39):
Yeah, make a great point. You can't tell what team
it is. There is a good as MR video on
the Patriots Instagram account where they're putting the stickers and
oh yeah, the cows on that helmet.
Speaker 6 (22:49):
Yeah, fans eat that stuff.
Speaker 4 (22:50):
I know, I was, I was sucked in.
Speaker 11 (22:52):
I didn't even know.
Speaker 6 (22:53):
I'm sure somebody putting stickers on a helmet. It's like
going viral. And I mean, I appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (22:57):
The generation, but what do you call it? SMR? Yeah absolutely,
I don't get it. You don't get any there now,
But I do like the uniforms.
Speaker 4 (23:05):
Yeah, we're big fans here, all right. That being said,
we have to go behind enemy lines because of course
we have our perspective, but we need someone that's in
New York on the ground, on the regular. So it's
time now for any behind on in minds is brought
to you by Pepsi. Game Day is here, So stock
up now, grab a refreshing Pepsi zero sugar twelve pack now,
because tailgating deserves better. And that being said, our guest today,
(23:27):
Brian Costello from the New York Post, Thanks for joining
us today, Thanks for having me. Thanks seem like an
enemy to us, Brian, it's a regular on the show.
Speaker 6 (23:37):
How many times is this? Is this at least a
couple Yeah? Yeah, yeah, well a year every year we're
playing the Jets.
Speaker 5 (23:43):
Yeah er so yeah, So Brian, what's what's going on
with the Jets here? It seems like they want two
in a row or they are they streaking right now?
Speaker 11 (23:50):
Yeah? I guess that's yeah, two in a row? I
mean they have. The Patriots played the Bengals.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
Yeah, not yet, next next next, next week, yeah, next week.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
They're the worst defense I've ever seen in my wife
I've had so yeah, if you watch it, so just
had five hundred yards against the Bengals and it was incredible.
Speaker 11 (24:10):
So they won that game.
Speaker 2 (24:11):
And then they beat the Browns with five yards with yeah,
fifty four yards passing and then forty two of those
came on a screen pass and the two returns for
touchdowns to kick of upon return.
Speaker 11 (24:21):
So yeah, great, they won two in a.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
Row, but it's been not really sustainable way of winning
football games so far.
Speaker 4 (24:27):
And head coach Aaron Glenn's been doing this thing with
the media where he doesn't tell you who the quarterback is.
From your perspective, has that been helping the team internally
block in or I mean we're looking at the record.
Speaker 2 (24:37):
Yeah, yeah, I don't think it really has anything at all.
I mean, if he wants to do it, it's fine.
He thinks he's getting something out of it. I mean,
I do think there was some vibilidity to it when
they played the Bengals because he had benched justin Field
at halftime against the Panthers. They played the Bengals next week.
What we didn't know at the time was Tyrod Taylor
was dealing with knee injury, so he kind of played
Koy and then Tyrod Taylor was to cleared out. I
(24:58):
think if Tyro Tall had been healthy that week, he
probably would have been the quarterback. So I think he
was playing a game that week, and then since he
did that week, he's just continued to do it because
he's you know, doesn't want to admit it was that game.
Speaker 11 (25:08):
So it's been fine.
Speaker 4 (25:09):
So just but Justin Feels's performance right now, it's safe
to assume that he will be playing.
Speaker 11 (25:14):
I think so.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
But I think, you know, I mean, look, I think
he's on a very short leash. If he struggles in
the first half, I think you probably see tyrot too
in the second half. I think just because it's a
short week, it'd be tough to switch quarterbacks. They had
no real practices this week. But that being sad, I mean,
Fields was bad. He completed two passes over the past
the line of scrimmage last week.
Speaker 11 (25:33):
So it's been tough.
Speaker 3 (25:34):
So we Mike and I remember, you know, a few
years back, Justin Fields came in here with Chicago on
a Monday night. Yeah, and they unveiled sort of a
different offense which featured him as a runner. He threw
the ball effectively in short doses. Is there any chance
that we see something like that out of him tonight?
Speaker 2 (25:53):
Yeah, I mean, well, the joke among the Jets fans
right now is they need to run the Navy offense.
Speaker 3 (25:58):
It's basically through it eleven times that they won.
Speaker 11 (26:03):
What's been the most surprising thing about the fields to
me is they haven't used his legs enough.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
Like right when we looked we all kind of looked
at it of what's the Jets record for rushing yards
by a quarterback and it goes in the sixties.
Speaker 11 (26:16):
Al Doro had.
Speaker 2 (26:17):
Four hundred and sixty yards, like he's going to have
that in three games, and the first game against the
Steelers he ran them all really effectively, and since then
it's been like, eh, you know, he had he had,
He's broken a long one against Miami. They hadn't really
run the ball effectually, So if they could tap into
that somehow, maybe, But I mean, the Patriots run defense
has been so good, and the problem right now is
(26:38):
with no passing game, you know, there's no threat. We
don't have to be a defensive coordinator here to figure out.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
Well, That's why I was wondering that maybe if you
do it unconventional, If if they ahm up and just
trying to run Breeze Hall based on what the Patriots
have done for ten weeks, yeah, it's going to.
Speaker 11 (26:52):
Be pretty I joked, a triple option.
Speaker 2 (26:54):
I come out and try to do something to catch
them off guard like it, you know, because it's yeah,
they it's obviously teams are going to stack the box
and take Britice away, and he's been good even when
they've been doing that. But it was no threat of
a passing game. It's hard to do anything.
Speaker 5 (27:07):
What were just the vibes around the team after they
moved on from Sawson Williams. Did you were you surprised
that they I mean, I know how they won the game,
but were you're surprised that they seemed to kind of
rally a little bit?
Speaker 11 (27:16):
No, because I think they had time. So it was interesting.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
The Jets had to buy that week of the trade deadline,
and so they kind of all came back and the
trades happened, and I think they were shocked at first,
and but you know, it was Tuesday and then they
got to work and it's you know, it's kind of like, okay,
they they they moved on, and you know, the Browns
offense is not particularly strong.
Speaker 11 (27:38):
So it wasn't a great We've seen that one. Yeah,
we saw that one.
Speaker 2 (27:41):
It was not a great challenge for them, So I
think that I think that helped for sure. But yeah,
I think they were stunned at first, but they kind
of got back to work after that.
Speaker 3 (27:50):
So just looking down at the depth chart, and I know,
it's got to be frustrating to be covering you know
what seems like year sixteen of a rebuild. Yeah, but
you know, just like counting them up, you have five
or six rookies in the starting lineup. How have those
guys been been doing? You know, is there is there
some hope at least with some of these young guys
(28:10):
that they shown any promise.
Speaker 11 (28:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
I mean Membu the tackle right tackle has been very good.
He's been very like they played Miles Garrett last week. Now,
they only attempted eleven passes, but they actually they called
more passes than that. There were some scrambles by justin fields.
He had one sack. Membu hit himself well. Olufashan, who's
the second year player, did pretty well. Mason Taylor is
an interesting guy at tight end. He's flashed, but the
(28:34):
passing game has been so bad it's hard to really
evaluate him. And it's like, you know, because the quarterback
just the play has been terrible. Azy Thomas is now
the cornerback with sauscon but he's a concussion so he
won't play tonight. So there's some promise there. There. There
are some guys that I think, you know, this isn't
I only this is a complete teardown rebuild type of
(28:55):
thing like they did in twenty twenty one when Salad
came in.
Speaker 11 (28:58):
That team had very little talent.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
There's some talent here, but they've you know, they haven't
they haven't solved the one position that they need to
solve in about fifty years.
Speaker 3 (29:08):
Just you know, big picture, what do you envision to
try to address that?
Speaker 11 (29:13):
Yeah, I mean, look, there's those trades. We're all about that. Okay.
Speaker 2 (29:17):
So you're looking at the Jets right now, and they
have two first round picks in twenty six, two second
round picks at twenty six, three first round picks in
twenty seven. Okay, so if you're basically in position to
do whatever you.
Speaker 11 (29:29):
Want at quarterback.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
In my eyes, if if they finish fifth in the
draft order and the Titans finished first, they have the
amo to go. Okay, you know, Titans don't need a quarterback.
Let's move up. If there's somebody comes up on the market,
a veteran like that, we don't see coming. They have
the draft picks to trade to that team to get
the veteran quarterback. People say the twenty twenty seven draft
(29:52):
is better than the twenty twenty sixth draft.
Speaker 11 (29:54):
I don't know if that's true or not.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
But they have three picks there, so they have maneuverabality there,
so within the next two they should be able to
get their quarterback. But look, this is a team that's
drafted quarterbacks in the top three.
Speaker 11 (30:05):
Dwike's in the last ten years.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
I the more regret over Donald's not really because like, look,
they just they did not have the structure around Donald
to succeed. They didn't have the players, then didn't have
the coaching And if you look at it, Sam since
he left the Jets has gone to the Panthers, the
forty nine Ers, then the Vikings.
Speaker 11 (30:24):
He had success to the Vikings and down the Seahawks.
So it took a long time.
Speaker 2 (30:28):
I don't think anyone's saying, man, the jet should have
given him five more years to develop, right, Like, that's
just not realistic.
Speaker 11 (30:33):
So regrets not the right word. Frustration.
Speaker 2 (30:37):
I think there's frustration of why couldn't you know they
drafted the right guy? But I also think there's lessons
in that for the Jets going forward is you better
have some players around this guy. Right, So Breese Hall
was talked about at the trade deadline. You know, no,
you probably need Breeze Hall next year. If you're gonna
have a rookie quarterback, you need Garret Wilson, you know,
So they need to have some talent around that guy when.
Speaker 3 (30:59):
They draft him.
Speaker 6 (31:00):
I feel like Aaron Glenn has done enough to be
a part of that for next year. Yeah.
Speaker 11 (31:04):
Yeah. I mean, look, his salary is insane.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
He's getting paid more than any Jets coach ever, like
he had them over a barrel, and he he has
a good agent, Jimmy Sexton, and they got a lot
of money. He's he's getting paid like more than ten
million dollars a year. So he's got a five year contract.
So I don't think Woody Johnson is going to go
you know, yeah, I'll pay the last four years off
for Yeah, there's no way, So just start there and
then I don't think you know, there was talk of oh, they.
Speaker 11 (31:30):
Might go win seventeen, they might go one sixteen. Obviously
that's not going to happen. I think there's a few
more games that they can win on the schedule, so
he'll be back next year.
Speaker 2 (31:38):
And this the trade deadline told you that too, right,
you're not going to trade away those players if you're
thinking about making changes at the end of the year.
He Woody Johnson is throwing himself behind Aaron Glenn and
Darren Mugy at the GM.
Speaker 3 (31:48):
How close did they come to I know they pursued
Mike Vabel. How close did they come to getting him?
Speaker 2 (31:54):
Yeah? Yeah, Well so that's a hard question because so
he was in the building on the Friday, the last
Friday of the regular season. Remember the Jets moved on
from Robert style after five games, remember it will and
so part of it was, hey, we can get a
jump on everybody. And Rabel stepped down from the Browns,
remember like like that last week, so he could get
a jump. So he was in there Friday, the Jets
(32:15):
were practicing for that last game, which was a little weird,
and he was in the building. They loved him, They
absolutely loved him. They wanted him to be the coach.
But I don't know if he had ninkling what was
going to happen here, you know, But once this job became.
Speaker 11 (32:27):
Open, I think the Jets knew they were fighting a lost.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
Cause they tried. They tried really hard. They felt like
he would have been perfect for what they needed. You know,
they needed leadership. That was what their Their goal was
not hired the best offensive mind or the hot coordinator.
Speaker 11 (32:41):
They wanted a leader son. Vrabel's that guy, and Rabel has.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
The experience of doing it before, which I think Aaron
Glenn has shown leadership capabilities. Every Glen's learning how to
be a head coach though, right, so you guys have Rabel.
Rabel doesn't have to learn how to.
Speaker 11 (32:54):
Be a head coach.
Speaker 2 (32:55):
He's already done that in Tennessee. So I think they
would have loved to have had him. I don't know
how close it ever came, though, because I think Rabel
knew what was happening up.
Speaker 4 (33:01):
Here and now we're benefiting here in New England. But
before we let you go, what's your prediction? Was the
score prediction for this one? I picked the Patriots thirty
to fourteen in this one. Yeah, it's hard for me
to see a scenario where the Jets win this game,
because you know which way.
Speaker 2 (33:14):
You say, Oh, maybe the Patriots turn it over, right,
I don't know if you guys have studied this stack
that the Jets have.
Speaker 11 (33:19):
One turnover once take away and they have zero interceptions.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
This is amazing.
Speaker 2 (33:25):
Yeah, so I'm pretty sure tonight, if they go go tonight,
they're going to tie the record for the longest street
to start a season without an interception. Yeah, it's pretty crazy.
And so you know because like you think that was
a tip ball or something. So yeah, like you think, oh,
if they turn them over, maybe they can win. Just
just don't turn anybody over.
Speaker 11 (33:42):
So it's hard to see a scenario where they win
unless the Patriots completely overlook them.
Speaker 2 (33:46):
But I think it's gonna be a good environment tonight.
I think Thursday night helps. I think this is a
Sunday at one o'clock. Maybe the Patriots come out flat.
They're not gonna come out flat in this building tonight.
Speaker 6 (33:54):
I don't.
Speaker 4 (33:55):

Oh amazing, something like great instead phenomena with.
Speaker 3 (38:02):
The dysfunction that's going on with the Jets. But if
you're a Jets fans, it does sound like maybe there's
a little hope for Aaron Glenn.
Speaker 6 (38:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (38:08):
Sure, they like the leadership qualities and he's got to
learn a little bit more about being a coach.
Speaker 4 (38:13):
Yeah, that's really hard.
Speaker 6 (38:14):
Look out, Matt.
Speaker 4 (38:17):
I love that they panned it on to you to
so I'm dunk and don't you.
Speaker 5 (38:20):
Know, we're gonna look at the guys, Vince Wolfork who
was a little smaller than we might remember him, and
Randy Moss here in the house tonight as well.
Speaker 6 (38:28):
Spit your defense, uh man.
Speaker 5 (38:30):
Still one of my favorite moments from that Tom Brady
thing last year was the applause that Randy Moss got
here when at Tom Brady's induction ceremony and the tears
in his eyes and uh, just fun times with Randy Moss.
Never felt like that seven team ever really got there
due until that moment. But I was gonna say to there,
I was going to say they were showing Anthony Jennings
there earlier. I was joking this week, I'm like, this
is Anthony Jennings. This is a game to shine for
(38:51):
Anthony Jennings. Jets want to run the ball. Anthony Jennings
hasn't played a lot this year, but he's really stout
on the edge and you know, with Chase on Landry
a little banged up. Love to see Anthony Jenny's get
out there, play a lot of snaps, dominate the edge
like he usually does. I think he's a He's a
great kind of player on a short week, should have
some fresh legs.
Speaker 6 (39:10):
I'd like to see a lot of Anthony Jennings.
Speaker 4 (39:12):
Anyone else you want to see.
Speaker 3 (39:13):
I'm just watching Josh McDaniels get all that the receivers
jacked up with Digsy.
Speaker 11 (39:20):
Steph Hunt.
Speaker 3 (39:23):
He's getting, you know, Josh. Josh is always very excitable before.
Speaker 4 (39:27):
What are we hoping for Diggs tonight against them?
Speaker 3 (39:29):
I just want to can I just is it too
much to ask?
Speaker 9 (39:32):
Just?
Speaker 6 (39:32):
I don't.
Speaker 3 (39:33):
I don't need anything out of the ordinary tonight. I
just need a professional performance there you go.
Speaker 4 (39:39):
I think I know.
Speaker 3 (39:40):
It's it's like you haven't been in this situation long.
Ten weeks ago, you were just hoping, we think, I
think we could beat the Jets. Okay, you've progressed so
far in those ten weeks that I just want them
to come out so to take care of business. I
don't need a thirty eight to three win tonight. I'll
take a methodical sort of you know, less than aesthetic
(40:03):
twenty three to six. That might be my prediction game tonight.
Just take care of business, you know, don't turn the
ball over three times, don't allow a long kick return,
don't allow breist Hall to get you know, one hundred
yards rushing. Just be yourselves tonight against the team that
I think. Mike, your your key is perfect. Just you're
(40:25):
looking probably for a reason to want to get back
on the bus and go home. Absolutely, so give it
to him in the first quarest.
Speaker 6 (40:30):
I mean, if they can find how to get back
to the bus tonight, probably.
Speaker 3 (40:33):
We had Mike and I ran into a Jets player
on the way over and he asked us where the
locker room. I like the sounds of that.
Speaker 6 (40:40):
Actually we directed him to Paul's office. I think he's
they're getting ready and.
Speaker 3 (40:44):
That was Thursday night football.
Speaker 4 (40:47):
Fall to you. I think this is very telling. We
talk about this matchup and we don't want to undervalue
that again.
Speaker 6 (40:52):
They are.
Speaker 3 (40:54):
You know, you're eight and two, they're two insane exactly,
just way to that play like you're the eight and
two team and you're you know, five games better than
the opponent.
Speaker 5 (41:04):
Just he'll be it'd be just a great feeling to
wake up tomorrow and a Friday morning. And know Patriots
just blasted out their ninth winn of the season. They're
getting a weekend off, you know, just a couple of
days and then you know, two games set before your
bye week. It's just to be a brooling nice then
to have a weekend off, get these guys a chance
to maybe rest up a tiny bit, and you know,
we'll see.
Speaker 4 (41:23):
That's exactly how I'm trying to start my Friday. So
that being said, there's not much more we could talk
about when it comes up to this matchup. So I
think it's time that we get into over unders. So
Patriots fans, this month, you can celebrate Veterans to Day,
which was last week with a new snowblower from Errands.
During their Heroes and Holidays sale event now through December thirty,
you can save one hundred dollars on select models this winter.
(41:45):
Let the King of Slow help to clear your driveways
so you have more time to support your team. Aaron's
the official snowblower of the New England Patriots. Visit www
dot Errands dot com to find your Errands.
Speaker 11 (41:57):
Ahi.
Speaker 3 (41:57):
It was another prominent week for everybody. Yeah except me,
Kwanni six and oh again, golf clop what I got six?
I wish Michael five and one? Your head about all
three and three? Uh, you stink Kwannie forty and twenty,
Mike thirty seven and twenty three. Paul's making it tough
(42:21):
to pick up ground twenty and thirty three.
Speaker 6 (42:24):
So I don't want to get you know, you're you
don't work for the organization. You could technically bet.
Speaker 4 (42:29):
No, I wouldn't, but totally I do work for the
I like winning with this wouldn't zero consequence.
Speaker 6 (42:35):
Well, you know, if you did, you'd be you'd be
rolling in the dough. You wouldn't have to run into
a million on the right, home to right.
Speaker 4 (42:40):
But then I wouldn't be here with you guys either.
Speaker 6 (42:42):
Your DraftKings account would.
Speaker 4 (42:43):
Just be exactly all right, let's get into it before
the show ends. Drake may passing yards that's up first,
two hundred and thirty.
Speaker 11 (42:50):
Four and a half.
Speaker 5 (42:51):
Oh boy, yeah, I think it's a way to win tonight.
I just I don't need to mess around running the ball.
I'd love to just see them come out throw the
ball there, throw the ball, tack their cornerbacks. I like
Drake over two thirty four point five.
Speaker 3 (43:05):
Yeah, I'm with Mike, and for the same reasons. I
think they'll be throwing early, and you have a depleted
secondary attack it, and.
Speaker 4 (43:13):
With the two of you, you're at home. There's really
no excuse not to hit the over on this one.
Next up, Travion is Trevion Henderson. Sorry, I forward it
rushing yards eighty and a half.
Speaker 3 (43:25):
I'm going to take the under on that one. I
think it's been tough sledding in the running game, with
the exception of two explosive runs last week. I think
you know, and I hate playing this game, but he
had fourteen for one forty seven. He had twelve for
twenty three. If you take away the two touchdown runs. Now,
you can't take away the two touchdown runs. They happened.
(43:47):
I right, I was watching those two touchdowns run. They happened. However,
I'm just going by the other twelve runs. I'm going
to say that the Patriots the Jets do not allow,
you know, sixty nine and fifty five yard touchdowns to
So I'm gonna take the under on that.
Speaker 4 (44:02):
This is not really gonna make sense. I'm gonna gaet
over on it, mainly, and I know, we don't talk
that much about the weather, but this cold it's a
little wet on the ground. Just in case Drake may
is not having the best passing game. Even though I
just said he's gonna go over Travon Henderson, I think
would be a good supplement.
Speaker 6 (44:16):
Yeah, I know.
Speaker 5 (44:17):
I mean I kind of agree with Paul in a
way like he might just bust another like sixty yarder
and then we're all all bets are off. But I'm
going to say it's more conventional line. He doesn't quite
escaping get leader. I'm going to go under two and
eighties and drop another game to Kwanny.
Speaker 3 (44:29):
Probably we'll see, We'll.
Speaker 4 (44:30):
See our guy next. Kyle Williams receiving yards twenty five
and a half.
Speaker 6 (44:36):
You're up first one.
Speaker 4 (44:37):
Ooh, and I just gave Travion so much. I like,
who's this map is crazy? On yardage, I'm gonna say,
you know, with receiving yards, I think twenty five is
reasonable for Kyle Williams in this game. Everyone's clearly getting
points today.
Speaker 6 (44:49):
If he took away as one catch last week, he
wouldn't have had any yards.
Speaker 4 (44:51):
But that's a good point.
Speaker 6 (44:54):
But I'm with you. I'll go I'll go over on
on on Kyle Williams's I'm gonna take the under.
Speaker 3 (45:00):
I'm gonna need to see it first and hopefully hopefully
Nate who let us off with the calls tonight, Hopefully
he's right and I'm wrong on this one, but I
need to see some production before I predict it.
Speaker 4 (45:13):
That's very fair. Up next, total Patriots tds three and
a half.
Speaker 3 (45:19):
Good number.
Speaker 6 (45:20):
That's a good number, and I'm going to put them
on three. So I'm going to go under on this,
but I do like the three.
Speaker 3 (45:26):
Yeah, I'm going to take the under as well. I
think you could get some field goals tonight.
Speaker 4 (45:31):
I'm just gonna take over for the plot and because I've.
Speaker 6 (45:34):
Already put further.
Speaker 3 (45:38):
This might be the game strategy should.
Speaker 4 (45:39):
Use this opposite day, the opposite of whatever.
Speaker 3 (45:45):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (45:46):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (45:48):
Up next, total New York Jets.
Speaker 6 (45:49):
Points fourteen and a half.
Speaker 3 (45:52):
I'm hard under on that.
Speaker 4 (45:54):
Yeah, hmm okay, now you're just scared trying to prove it.
Thirteen and a half. Special team.
Speaker 3 (46:03):
No, I'm I'm taking a special team's touch.
Speaker 4 (46:08):
Yeah, even if they got to Yeah, I'm taking under here.
Speaker 6 (46:10):
Just I couldn't I'm with you guys on the under two.
Speaker 5 (46:13):
But I have to say I was a little surprised
that that Brian Costello's prediction, because he just, like I
could feel the weight of this season kind of weighing
on them a little bit. There was a sense of resignation.
And then he had I'm scoring two touchdowns tonight. So
I don't know, but I'm going under on that.
Speaker 4 (46:24):
One last, but not least total score forty three and
a half. Oh, let me doing maths, that's yeah, I'm
twenty one.
Speaker 3 (46:33):
Well, while these two hurt themselves trying to add up
a score, I'm going to take the under.
Speaker 6 (46:38):
I'm on the under two.
Speaker 4 (46:39):
Yeah, I think technically I have to do the under
as well if my math pans out.
Speaker 5 (46:45):
It seems like these games, I mean I divisional game.
I mean I'm learning like Paul has like a list
of rules. I don't think we've ever written them out,
but you know, philosophies, if you will things to waste
a view games and a division game.
Speaker 6 (46:54):
Paul, usually not a high score, right, usually on the
under on those ones. I my wrong on that, certainly
Thursday night, Thursday night division game. Not that screams under, right, yeah.
Speaker 3 (47:04):
But the reason I don't write him out is because
they all swimming on ahead and I change them.
Speaker 6 (47:08):
As you go, so it's like fred to they're swimming.
Speaker 3 (47:12):
I'd like to hear what some of these people. I
feel like we're all so locked in agreements, Like the
Patriots are going to be in control, the Jets don't
have a way to score. Breis Hall's there a whole offense,
the Patriots are going to stop him. I wonder if
anybody's thinking differently. I see the phone line, let's.
Speaker 6 (47:31):
What do you think like that? People in like I
don't know the Scandinavia area.
Speaker 4 (47:35):
How do you feel about six Sean and Vancouver?
Speaker 15 (47:43):
You're up, Sean, Well, I'm going to fly home tomorrow.
I'm so Florida, but I want to Well, no, it
would be fun. I'm happy to go home now. I'm
interested in finding what's going to go on u in
the in the backfield or or on the tight end situation.
Because hoopers out, does that mean like Jack Westover will
(48:06):
play more traditional tight end and they'll maybe they'll bring
him Chiros Tonga to play even more as a fullback.
I'm not sure what that's possible about that.
Speaker 3 (48:15):
Yeah, I could see that scenario that's possible.
Speaker 6 (48:18):
Maybe a little uh Marcus Bryant, maybe just.
Speaker 3 (48:20):
A little less, but maybe a little less of the
two tight end looks.
Speaker 15 (48:24):
You know that we've seen more receivers, but I.
Speaker 3 (48:27):
Could see Tonga getting you know, but do you have
eight snaps last week? I could see him maybe getting up.
Speaker 5 (48:31):
To ten, little tong, a little west over and maybe
even a little you know, third tackle if they want
to go a heady makes sense.
Speaker 15 (48:38):
Yeah, I think this is like the ultimate trap game.
You have a team, they trade away the best defensive players,
their best offensive players not playing, and they look terrible.
Speaker 3 (48:49):
But what are they looking what are they looking ahead at?
Speaker 11 (48:51):
Though?
Speaker 3 (48:52):
Well, I suppose maybe the.
Speaker 6 (48:53):
MIDI buy, you know, the draft taking weekend.
Speaker 3 (48:56):
Yeah, I mean, you know, to me, a trap game
is like, well, they play Buffalo next week. So they're
playing Cincinnati this week, and that's, according to.
Speaker 6 (49:06):
Bran Costello, the worst team.
Speaker 3 (49:09):
It's been around, you.
Speaker 4 (49:10):
Know some things.
Speaker 15 (49:11):
I just I don't think the Patriots will fall into
it because you know, they were foreign you know whatever
the last two years and they just haven't been that good.
So it's like we got to take every game seriously
they're gonna be ready.
Speaker 2 (49:23):
For the judge.
Speaker 5 (49:23):
I agree, yeah, I agree with that general point. And
this team, you know, they haven't arrived yet. They need
to continue to build and to work on some stuff.
And you know, I don't know how much you're going
to learn in some areas.
Speaker 6 (49:33):
But but you're right.
Speaker 3 (49:35):
Thanks Sean, save travel, Sean, thank you appreciate here's your guy.
Speaker 6 (49:40):
There we go and.
Speaker 3 (49:43):
In no way greater Oslo.
Speaker 16 (49:47):
Yes that's right from properly yes, proper Oslo west side.
I gotta be honest tonight. I'm mentally prepared for a
huge for the New England Patriots. I expect the Patriots
to crush the New York Jets, to crush their spirits.
I don't just expect them to win the feet and
(50:10):
beat the Jets. I expect them to make the Jets
wish the season is over to dread the next time
they played the Jets. My prediction is at least four
touchdown four touchdowns for the Patriots and no more than
four field goals. So my final score of the game
is forty to ten. Four touchdown passes by Drake.
Speaker 4 (50:31):
May to mister Dicks, all right, he had me in
the first half when he said he's mentally prepared, I
was worried where the sentence is.
Speaker 3 (50:40):
Going, But I like how and so we got one
more shot for anybody to think differently. Yeah, Patty, I'm
pretty sure Patty's not going to be thinking differently. Patty,
how are you feeling Thursday night?
Speaker 6 (50:50):
He's probably still pretty sober.
Speaker 11 (50:52):
Paddy still sober ish.
Speaker 10 (50:55):
I'm sober ish right now, sober ad.
Speaker 16 (50:59):
Jason sober a Jason.
Speaker 10 (51:03):
So we know that this game, these Thursday night game
is generally favorite, like the better coaching staff, the more
prepared coaching staff, and generally the better quarterback and the
team that's at home, and we check every box. I
got them went in twenty seven to thirteen. I think, uh,
I think it might be a little little taint in
the beginning like it usually is. It's it's probably gonna
(51:24):
play out like most games have played out this year.
But I like, I love Francisco's pick, like that was
one thing I was calling for last week, and I
even brought it up on Catch twenty two. I said,
we gotta we got to start getting some takeaways and picks,
you know, because we I think we only have four
or five as a team this year, So I'd love
to see that happen. And you know, just let's kick
(51:46):
let's just kick these guys' asses and get it over
with and get out of here.
Speaker 6 (51:49):
Healthy your here. Yeah, I got that, Grecious.
Speaker 3 (51:54):
This is just my worst ever pregame show. I can't
argue with any of them, have any disagreements with any.
Speaker 6 (52:00):
Of the Philly excitement.
Speaker 4 (52:02):
I just like, all right, we have Chester in Portland.
How are you feeling Chester?
Speaker 2 (52:10):
All right?
Speaker 17 (52:10):
What's going on? Guys?
Speaker 6 (52:11):
Thanks?
Speaker 17 (52:13):
First off, at the Jets forever, no matter how bad
they are, I hate them and I hope they go
down and flame.
Speaker 13 (52:19):
You know.
Speaker 17 (52:19):
That said, I think the biggest focus tonight is keeping
Drake upright, and you know, I'm concerned just with that,
you know, front front seven with the Jets and getting
after May a little bit. I think we've really got
to have cast in the win there. That being said,
I'm looking at twenty seven to twelve. I don't I
don't think that there's gonna be much push from the Jets,
but I think we got to make sure that we're
(52:40):
watching out for that defensive front, getting after May. Let's
get a win. It's rivalry week by apparel.
Speaker 3 (52:45):
Baby over, Thanks Chess.
Speaker 6 (52:47):
That's a good point by Chester.
Speaker 5 (52:51):
No, just Will McDonald and Jermaine Johnson, you know, just
two pretty good edge rushers. Will McDonald had a bunch
of pressures and sacks last week. So did so did
Johnson on the other side. They move those guys around.
Good test for the young you know, the youngster especially
Will Cambel on the left side handling those guys speed rush.
Speaker 6 (53:07):
Just another little game within the game thing to watch tonight.
Speaker 5 (53:09):
And you look, that's a quick way talk about winning
the margins, getting beat off the edge, strip sacked, those
kind of things.
Speaker 6 (53:15):
You can't let those happen tonight.
Speaker 4 (53:17):
One hundred percent agree. Looks like we have someone calling in,
but they didn't put the name yet. Should I pick
them up?
Speaker 6 (53:22):
We can go if you want to, So kick back
and listen them up. Position up, getting to getting the
pits back. You better bring a big stack.
Speaker 11 (53:29):
Get it mixed, jack.
Speaker 6 (53:30):
I came to win it yet. This is the Sunday
sixth bad.
Speaker 4 (53:34):
It's time now. Oh, before we get into the six bag,
let's look at last week's scores first.
Speaker 3 (53:38):
Actually, do we have to Yeah, it was It's not
good last week for anybody. Two and four across the
board for everybody, So that means the standings remain unchanged.
Thirty and twenty six for Kwanni, twenty six and thirty
for Mike.
Speaker 4 (53:54):
It feels like a game of Jeopardy.
Speaker 3 (53:57):
It was Jeopardy, I'd be winning twenty three and thirty
three for the loser. Eh, you're a loser.
Speaker 11 (54:02):
You're a loser at.
Speaker 3 (54:04):
The bottom opression. That's me all right.
Speaker 4 (54:07):
Well, now it's time for the Sunday six back. It's
brought to you by the mass Chooses two fifty campaign.
They're commemorating a history of possibility. Plan your revolutionary weekend
right now at mass Chooses two fifty dot org. Let's
get into the games on Sunday where we all will
be able to just enjoy and.
Speaker 3 (54:23):
Let z on Sunday.
Speaker 6 (54:24):
Mike can't wait.
Speaker 4 (54:25):
Just rotten your couch all day, all right, shut up. First,
Tampa Bay at the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo.
Speaker 6 (54:32):
That's a good, good matchup. Six Yeah, I'm gonna go
Buffalo on this one.
Speaker 5 (54:37):
At home, Baker, I know, I know they're getting Bucky
back Irving so but Buck's getting a little bit healthy.
Speaker 6 (54:43):
But I'm going to go with Buffalo at home. I'll
lay the points.
Speaker 3 (54:47):
Yeah, I'm gonna be with Mike. Let's put up a
shut up time for the Bills. I know they have
a slew of injuries. I know McDermott has been talking
about they need to examine why they've had so many
problems staying healthy.
Speaker 11 (55:00):
But what you have is what you have.
Speaker 3 (55:02):
At some point, you have to play. And they're at
home coming off an embarrassing loss. They need to they
need to show up.
Speaker 4 (55:08):
And that's exactly why I have them as well. You
after last week, they need to prove that they still
can hold their own exactly, especially all right up next
LA Chargers at the Jacksonville Jaguars Jacksonville.
Speaker 3 (55:22):
Three point, Chargers by three.
Speaker 4 (55:24):
Oh sorry, I just I did definitely just looked at
LAC and read that I'm.
Speaker 3 (55:29):
Going to take you. Yeah, I am going to take
the Chargers. A little worried still about the offensive line
held up all right last week against Pittsburgh. See if
they can make it two weeks in a row.
Speaker 4 (55:38):
Yeah, I have LA as well.
Speaker 3 (55:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (55:41):
Just brutal losses for the Jaguars. And Brian Constello is
talking about veteran quarterbacks. Maybe we talked about Trevor Lawrence
this week.
Speaker 3 (55:48):
Yeah, yeah, but in particular.
Speaker 6 (55:51):
Yeah, I'm going with Justin Herbert though.
Speaker 4 (55:53):
Up next, we have the Baltimore Ravens at the Cleveland Browns.
Lamar Jackson, you're back. I'm taking Baltimore seven and a half.
Speaker 3 (56:02):
Baltimore and a half a.
Speaker 6 (56:04):
Lot of points, but you know what, I think Baltimore
is gonna start making some real noise. I'm going to
take Baltimore. Their defense playing way better.
Speaker 3 (56:11):
Yeah, a little worried that Jackson missed some practice time,
but I'm with you, guys. I'll take Baltimore.
Speaker 5 (56:15):
Ye.
Speaker 4 (56:16):
Up next, Kansas City at Denver. Kansas City with three
and a half points.
Speaker 5 (56:22):
Yeah, I'm back on the Kansas City bandwagons, just like
I am with Baltimore. I think both those teams are
really going to start to play their best football.
Speaker 6 (56:28):
Now I got Kansas City.
Speaker 3 (56:29):
Yeah, this is more of an anti bow Knicks pack.
I don't like the way he's the looks to, but
he's been terrible the last couple of weeks. So I'm
going to take the Chiefs on the road something personally
big shots. But the Broncos are at home. Frank Kosch
will tell you that happens every week.
Speaker 4 (56:41):
I'm going to take Denver at home, Denver at home.
We'll see the disappointment indifferent Sunday Night football Detroit at
Philly Philadelphia with two and a half.
Speaker 3 (56:55):
Am I first, I think, no, I'm apolois. Sorry, I'm
going to take Detroit in this one on the road.
I think the Lions are just a better team.
Speaker 6 (57:04):
I like the Eagles, though, well not, you're scaring me
twenty I'm gonna go with Detroit. I'm with Paul.
Speaker 4 (57:09):
Two guys, this might be the week where I get
it all wrong.
Speaker 6 (57:12):
You never know, you never know.
Speaker 4 (57:14):
We'll see Finally, the game of the evening, New York
Jets at New England Patriots, New England with twelve and
a half points.
Speaker 3 (57:23):
That that's a big number, a big margin.
Speaker 6 (57:25):
I think you're a first.
Speaker 4 (57:26):
Coiny still taking the Patriots, and I regret, well, not
with I'm taking them.
Speaker 6 (57:32):
You're gonna lamb.
Speaker 3 (57:32):
I'm gonna yeah, I'm taking a Patriot.
Speaker 6 (57:34):
Now, I'm gonna lab I'm.
Speaker 4 (57:35):
Gonna throw me off. I didn't read the twelve and
a half earlier.
Speaker 6 (57:37):
Yeah, I'm gonna take the Patriots'm gonna say like twenty
four to six. You know, just the slow methodical.
Speaker 5 (57:42):
You know, it's not like they pull out and blow doors,
but you know they score enough consistently and get enough
stops to slowly open up a lead, and you know
by the end they're they're they're gonna seal it as usual.
Speaker 3 (57:51):
Mic is way off. It's gonna be twenty three to six,
always six three to six, not twenty four to three.
One field is way off. I think the same kind
of a game that Mike talked about. Fast start, get
the lead, put it on cruise control in the second half,
stay healthy, don't get sloppy totally.
Speaker 4 (58:12):
Any final words, thoughts, prayers.
Speaker 5 (58:14):
No, just I think we've I think we summed it up.
We all see the game the same way. And you know,
my only cause for concern is if they come out
and they look a little sloppy and they allow a
Jets drive, or they turn the ball over quick, or
you can just tell that they're a little bit off tonight.
Speaker 6 (58:27):
We haven't seen that really very often from Mike Fables team.
Speaker 5 (58:30):
They've usually turned it around even when they've had slow starts,
so still have optimism and even if it starts that way.
Speaker 6 (58:35):
But as we've been saying, love them just to go
out right from the get go and stay and set.
Speaker 3 (58:39):
The tone of the Only thing that can leave me
concerned after this game is if the Patriots somehow can't
stop the Jets. If the Jets have a good offensive
game tonight, I'm not going to just chalk it up
