Thank you for checking in with us here on the
Patriots Pregame Show fueled by Duncan, Poprillo, Mike do So.
It's week nine. I'm coining on this. It's week nine
at the NFL season and the goal, of course for
the Patriots this week to win again. The goal for
our show. I didn't tell you guys this to get
as many bird puns in oh Okay. How do you

(01:03):
feel about that?

Speaker 5 (01:04):
I feel what we're all birds of a feather. Well,
we'll fall in line correctly. Other thinking about that wrestler.

Speaker 6 (01:09):
Patriots, nothing for he'll he'll warm up?

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Are you tweeting about it?

Speaker 6 (01:14):
Oh sir, we're already on the roll here. But as
you probably know, the Patriots facing the Atlanta Falcons today.
Michael Pennix junior Bjhon Robinson both offensive threats for this team.
We'll see how they look though. What are you two
most looking forward from this matchup today?

Speaker 5 (01:31):
For me, it starts with Jehn Robinson. I think you know,
it's on that side of the ball. The our offense
runs through him. They want to get him going. I
think what I'm most interested to see though, is if
they alter their attack a little bit and try to
attack the Patriots in the middle of the field, maybe
try to get him lined up with linebackers. It's one
of the you know, kind of knocks on Michael Pennox
that they're not really willing to throw to the middle

(01:52):
of the field. He likes, you know, to throw outside
the numbers and down the field a little bit. So
you've watched this Patriots defense, you know that they have
had some moments where they struggling coverage for the linebackers
in safety. So you know, to me Bejon Robinson in
the passing game, that's kind of an X factor on
that side of the ball.

Speaker 6 (02:07):
Now. We see him on the screen against the Dolphins
last week. Unfortunately they lost in that game, but like
you said, a threat for the Falcons right.

Speaker 5 (02:14):
Now, Yeah, absolutely, I mean its all goes through him,
Paul I would say, you know, that's that's where it
all starts. And if you can you know, I have
confidence in the Patriots run defense that they can keep
him contained. Hopefully that continues today, but if they do that,
I think it'll put pressure on the passing game and
probably a good formula for the Patriots.

Speaker 4 (02:28):
I have confidence as well. And you know, if you
had asked me in September, I probably wouldn't have had
the same kind of an answer. I would have been
wondering when the other shoe was going to drop on
the run defense. But it's you know, it's been you know,
eight weeks now, and there's really no let up in sight.
This is probably the biggest challenge. You know, you might
want to say James Cook this, you know, I think

(02:49):
Robinson's probably the more dangerous threat. But they've been able
to handle the running game. I think Mike is right.
I think that's the number one thing that I would
be focused on today. Just to be different, I'll go
to the other side of the ball. Can Drake May
and this Patriots offense continue to have this kind of
production against another good defense that is particularly good against
the pass and has excelled at eliminating big plays, you know,

(03:13):
the plays downfield. So if the Patriots are forced to
do it, you know, ten, twelve, fourteen plays at a time,
can they maintain that focus without the big plays? Again,
conversations we wouldn't have thought we would be having, you know,
a month and a half ago, when we were wondering
where all the big plays were for the Patriots. Now
Drake May and the Patriots offense, who are among the

(03:35):
most explosive in the league.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
Yeah, interesting conversation. I think today is about the blitz.

Speaker 5 (03:38):
This is a heavy blitz team and we got a
couple of weeks ago we had a conversation on Patriots
Unfiltered about what is a blitz?

Speaker 3 (03:45):
The philosophical but this is a.

Speaker 5 (03:49):
Team that likes to send five and so you know
whether or not you qualify that as a blitz or not.
You know, you can have everybody has their own stats.
But you know, how will the Patriots handle some of
that pressure? You know they're not They're a good pressure team,
but I wouldn't say they're a grea pressure team. Usually
to me, when you have to blitz a lot, it
usually signals we don't think we can win a lot
of one on one matchups. But I do think this
defensive philosophy with Jeff Ulbrick is that's what they want

(04:12):
to do. They want to send five guys a lot.
Third down, early downs doesn't really seem to matter. So
the offensive line's got to be ready, might be tough
to help guys out with protection.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
So we'll see how that all lines up.

Speaker 6 (04:22):
Absolutely, and we're going to talk a little bit more
about that matchup, of course from the Falcons perspective, when
we go behind enemy lines a little bit later in
the show. But before we do that, we're going to
talk about the Patriots. Of course, the inactives. If you
guys want to get into the Like you said, nothing
necessarily stands out. John Saunders, Vermande Stevenson's, Caleb Murphy, Eric Gregory,
Kayden Wallace and of course Tommy DeVito, a lot.

Speaker 5 (04:43):
Of the usual suspects. I mean, ramondro Stevenson is the
big one. John Saunder's just arrived here this week. Not
a surprise with him, but ramondro Stephenson we've known since Friday.
And you know, to me, the interesting question is, you know,
it's a Terrell Jennings time. I think a lot of
people look to traveon Henderson and maybe that will be
the case. They promoted Dearness Johnson as well, who's an established,

(05:04):
you know, backup kind of running back who's carried the
ball in the NFL, has had some success. So I
just wonder do they go all in on Terrell Jennings
right now? And you know, because I don't think it's
going to be Henderson has eighty percent of the snaps
something like that.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
That seems like a stretch to me.

Speaker 5 (05:19):
I think today you're going to probably see some Terrell
Jennings and to be honest, I wouldn't be totally surprised
to see some early down carries from Deernis Johnson.

Speaker 4 (05:25):
I know he just got here too. Yeah, I would
be stunned if you didn't. I think Dearnes Johnson is.
You know, he's not a star or anything. I'm not
trying to overstate what he is. But he's much more
established as an NFL player than Terrell Jennings me even
in Henderson, you know, and obviously those guys have been
here and in the system and they know the playbook.
But for running back, I think you can sort of

(05:47):
put a package of plays a guy understand. You know,
they're running gap, they're running zone, you know, whatever it is.
Darns Johnson has done that in his career. So he
just has to get up to speed as to how
the Patriots run it and call it. I wouldn't be
so now if they want to lean on Henderson. Henderson
had you know, a little bit of a breakout performance
last week. Ten carries seventy five yards. I like him

(06:09):
with that number. I like those kinds of numbers for him. Now,
he only had fourteen snaps in the game, ten of
them carries. Mike, you and I talked about this a
little bit off air. I think that's probably not a
tendency that you want to continue and allow defenses to
sort of zero in on. So maybe you get Jennings involved,

(06:29):
Maybe you have a way to get if they feel
comfortable enough with Johnson. It's only been here what four days,
So if they feel comfortable enough to give him some
work today, I think that would make me feel better.

Speaker 5 (06:39):
Yeah, lines up too is just an interesting matchup. I
would say today is a chance for the Patriots run game,
you know, to maybe take advantage of the of what
they do on defense. And you know, now you're kind
of switching things up, So I just wonder if you know,
sometimes a guy goes out and then you say, well,
we don't want to replace two positions. Maybe you just
continue to use Henderson as you had and you know,

(07:00):
kind of a spot role and you give some of
the early down carries to to Jennings and Johnson, but
two guys who haven't carried the load this season, and
you know, really Jennings hasn't had a chance at all
to do that. So it just really lines up in
an interesting way. I don't think the Falcons want to
take away the deep passing game that's been so effective
for the Patriots, and the best way to kind of
counter that and counter some of the blissing would.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
Be able to run the ball a little bit. So
we'll see how it all lines up.

Speaker 5 (07:24):
Just one of those things where the one day where
you feel like, hey, we could get something go on
the running game, you got to try to do it
without reminder Stevenson exact a challenge.

Speaker 6 (07:31):
But to your point, it feels like it will be
a running game on both sides, which who presents some
interesting I.

Speaker 5 (07:36):
Think it'll be interesting to see which team is able
to get it going. And I mean the paid like
Paul said, the Patriots run defenses has earned some confidence
from me now, and I don't expect them to, you know,
get get gashed a lot. But if they start throwing
the ball a little dumpoffs and you see some intentionality
to their attack of really trying to target the middle
of the field and the linebackers like seventeen coverage, that's
that's something that say, hey, the Falcons, you know, identified

(07:58):
something and that's what they're going to attack today. I mean,
it would scare me as somebody who watches the Patriots
and know what they don't do well. I think that'd
be a good way to try to take him on.

Speaker 4 (08:06):
The numpo offs to Pitts and Robinson and get the
ball downfield to Mooney and of course London that would
be a formula. Now to me, it's gonna come down
to Michael Pennix and can he play at a level
high enough to consistently put points on the board. He
hasn't really done that this year. I know. It's really
his first full year as the starter, so you know,

(08:26):
he's in a similar situation that Drake May was, with
even less experience. He didn't even play half the games
that May played last year, so he struggled. I think
it takes him a little while to sort of process
and get the ball out. But you know, he put
thirty four up against Washington, you know, another twenty four
against Buffalo, So they have the ability to do it,

(08:46):
they just haven't done it consistently.

Speaker 5 (08:48):
Yeah, a young team, you know, that might be part
of it, and we talked about it all week. They've
got talent. They've got talent on both sides of the ball.
A couple of young guys on defense, you know, James Pearce,
Jalen Walker too.

Speaker 4 (08:58):
Now we'll get Walker today. He hasn't played for several games.
Jalen Walker one of their two first round picks, so
that could give them some juice in the front seven.

Speaker 5 (09:06):
Just a guy We talked about a lot in the
spring of just you know, do it all, kind of
athletic edge Rusher.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
I think they got to steal with him.

Speaker 5 (09:14):
And you know these two guys, no, not quite there yet,
but you've got some Like I said, they've got talent.
They're starting to stack some guys here, and if they
can all get together and find some consistency, I think
this would be a really dangerous team.

Speaker 6 (09:24):
Well, without further ado, let's just get right into it.
These are the Patriots keys to the game.

Speaker 5 (09:30):
You've waited all week for the whole teams in the
locker room right now, just listening to this, waiting to
hear what you're gonna say.

Speaker 6 (09:35):
Here are this week's keys to the game. Alrighty, Paul,
I think you're up first this week.

Speaker 4 (09:42):
Yeah, Mike pretty much laid it out, and I think
he laid it out very well. It's Bjeon Robinson and
this is what the the engine that the uh that
allows the Falcons offense to run when it is running. Now,
the last two weeks, he's really been bottled up by
San Francisco and Miami. You know, the Miami one to
me was eye opening because I don't think that's a
great defense. I don't think in particular it's a great

(10:03):
run defense. But you know, this is a guy that's
gonna be He's got about a thousand scrimmage yards already.
He's not gonna knock on the door of two thousand
for the season. It's very talented, very fast, gifted as
a receiver, as a runner. It all starts and ends
with bottling him up. You can't allow him to get
upwards of one hundred and fifty scrimmage yards today. And

(10:24):
if that happens, Atlanta's going to be in the game,
you know, offensively, you know, barring turnovers and whatnot. But
if you allow him to have success, I think that
makes everything easier for Penix and for the receivers to
get going. Those zone runs, Mike, they can't allow those
to get untracked for Atlanta. If you get those those
zone runs, that's how that's how they kills Buffalo. Patriots

(10:47):
haven't allowed that to happen all year. Let's make it
nine weeks that it hasn't happened.

Speaker 5 (10:52):
Yeah, I like it. He's a huge challenge. I mean,
it's just the way he runs the ball, how versatile
he is to do it in any manner that, like
you said, Paul, it all starts and ends with making
sure that he is contained. Hard to see a game
where the Patriots you know, get in control.

Speaker 3 (11:07):
If they don't manage to control be Jean Robinson, Yeah,
go right into mine, you know, I along those lines.

Speaker 5 (11:15):
Nope, come back necessary playing off the the old twenty
eight to three thing.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
It's it's just my mind.

Speaker 4 (11:20):
Anymore swag that you want to sell for.

Speaker 3 (11:22):
This all right?

Speaker 6 (11:23):
Now you can catch hi outside team to do it.

Speaker 5 (11:26):
I might get in trouble today, but but overall, I
just think a fast start, you know, and and and
not letting them dictate the way that they want to
dictate defensive side of the ball.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
Love to see them get out.

Speaker 5 (11:36):
I mean last week they came right out, they had
a third and long opportunity and they let it slide
and saw another first possession touchdown from the Browns last week.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
So uh, hopefully they get a better start this week
on the defensive side of the ball.

Speaker 6 (11:48):
Agree, And Josh Kendall from the Athletic is here. We'll
get into just a second before we do grounded flight.
That's my key to the game. The Patriots are rolling
as we know at this point, but this week is
about keeping the momentum grounded. The Falcons offense leaning heavy
on the run, like you both mentioned, and that's something
that they also need to make sure they're stopping. If
you know, if I think if New England can ground

(12:08):
the flight of this Falcons team early, whether it's on
the ground or in the air, as we know Pennick's
not necessarily successful there, then they'll be able to limit
the offensive points that they're able to contribute to the
same game. Yeah, yeah, sorry, all right, without further a dude,
Josh Kendall, you're here, we gotta make sure show you
some love. Thank you for stopping by, Thanks for having me. Well,

(12:29):
I'll start right off the top. We were talking already
about this Falcons team very inconsistent this season. They get
a win against the Bills and yet last week they
take a loss against the Miami Dolphins. Two losses in
a row at this point. So what have you been
seeing from this team and how do you think they'll
respond this week here in New England.

Speaker 7 (12:46):
Your guess is as good as mine. I wish I
had something better. This team has looked great in prime time.
They beat the Vikings on Sunday Night Football. They rolled
the Bills on Monday Night Football. They've also been beaten
thirty to nothing by the Panthers and embarrassed by a
Dolphins team that previously had been embarrassing it only itself.
So I don't think anybody has a real clue. Atlanta

(13:09):
has played well against good teams. Maybe that helps them today,
but I don't have a lot of hope that this
team is, you know, matches up well with New England.

Speaker 5 (13:18):
You guys have the talent, though, I mean just across
the roster. What have you seen from Michael Pennix as
he's taken over the starters role full time this year
and progressed into this season.

Speaker 7 (13:28):
The same thing I saw through three games the three
games he started last year. You can see every tool
that you want to see. You can see flashes of
a guy who could be a really good starter here
for a decade. But he doesn't complete enough passes consistently
enough to keep this offense rolling.

Speaker 3 (13:48):
He is.

Speaker 7 (13:49):
He was a fifty eight percent passer last year. He's
a little bit better than that this year, but in
high leverage moments, the passing game is not clicking. When
he's under pressure, he's completing in less than forty five
percent of his passes. You know, the book is out
on Atlanta. Stop the run game, get them in situations
where you can rush the passer. They're not going to
be able to get it done in the passing game.

(14:10):
As much as they say we have to run the
ball to win, and they do, that's a two step process.
You've got to run the ball, but then behind that,
you've got to make the plays in the passing game
that they've yet to be to make consistently.

Speaker 4 (14:23):
What have you seen the last couple of weeks from
John Robinson that maybe has changed. Do you see opposing
defenses maybe devoting a little bit extra attention to him
to keep him in check?

Speaker 7 (14:35):
Yes and no. The Falcons would tell you that the
blame lies solely on them. That their offensive line a
unit that should be really good. It's got three three
guys who are top thirty eight picks. Ryan Noosel, the
center is a UDFA, but a guy they had a
lot of faith in. We've seen play well. They lost
Caleb McGary the right tackle in the preseason. That hurts them,

(14:57):
but they said his replacement, Elijah Wilkinson. It's been okay,
had at least been okay, but as a unit, they've
been too inconsistent. And I was a little surprised this
week that coming into this game, the Falcons coaching staff
has underlined that fact. They have not been shy about
saying it's the offensive line. It's a bold strategy.

Speaker 4 (15:18):
We'll see.

Speaker 7 (15:19):
We'll see if the offensive line responds to that by saying,
you know, playing a game like it did against Minnesota
in week two, Week three, or if the offensive line
says it's not just us, you know, you know, I'm
tired of hearing that this is for the bird.

Speaker 3 (15:33):
You can have it.

Speaker 6 (15:34):
You got a plenty in there as well. You wrote
about this week, like you said about that offensive line,
and obviously, like you already said, you don't necessarily know
what to expect, But how do you see them matching
up against this Patriots front seven today?

Speaker 7 (15:47):
They're good enough to play to do what they need
to do. The Patriots defense has been really good, you know,
but we've seen them play a Vikings defense that is
very difficult to prepare for and really talented at some
key spots and roll them. That was you know, that

(16:10):
was easier. When the Vikings were struggling on offense, everything
got rolling in the Falcons direction. We've seen that from
these Falcons. If it starts well, the vibes are good,
they're you know, they can be a tough out. But
if it starts poorly and this starts to be a slog,
they haven't responded well to that.

Speaker 3 (16:27):
You know.

Speaker 7 (16:28):
You know, Mike Vrabel loves nothing more than a slog.
You know, he'll drag this thing into the mud and
be perfectly happy with that. The Falcons will not.

Speaker 5 (16:36):
We're now, She's just still by the defensive side of
the ball. You know, two talented first round picks, all
of those two in Pierson Walker assimilated into the defense.

Speaker 3 (16:45):
And what do you think is the key defensively for
them today?

Speaker 4 (16:48):
Coverage.

Speaker 7 (16:49):
You know, they have got to cover well enough to
give that group time to get home. The two most
impressive defensive rookies have been the secondary guys. Xavier Watts
at safety who's a really good player. Billy Bowman, who
was great for three weeks but is out again this
week with a hamstring injury that's kind of popped up
a few weeks ago in a practice that's been problematic
for them. Jalen Walker and James Pearce Junior, the two

(17:11):
first round edge rushers, have been fine and have helped,
along with a lot of other guys, improve that pass rush,
which for two decades has been the worst in the NFL,
absolutely abysmal. But neither one of those guys has yet popped.
Walker returns to the line up today. That'll be a help,
but mostly for their run defense. You know, Jalen Walker

(17:31):
is a guy who defensive coordinators will watch a tape
and they'll love that guy. Most of us sitting up
here in the stands, we're looking at James Pearce Junior.
We're looking at twenty seven coming off the edge. They need,
you know, some pop from him. He's been fine.

Speaker 3 (17:45):
We haven't seen a lot of pop plays.

Speaker 4 (17:47):
So we haven't seen a lot of pop plays from
opposing offenses in general. Against Atlanta. How have they been
able to limit the big plays consistently? Because you, as
you said, they've been a little inconsistent getting the pressure.
What has been the key tost stopping the opponent from
getting any big plays.

Speaker 7 (18:02):
Jeff Aulbrick, who comes over from the Jets, the guy
that y'all are familiar with with. You know, they struggled
there at the end, but he's a really good defensive coach.
He inherited a group that was really low on confidence,
was really not happy with Jimmy Lake last year, who
was in and out of the door in one year.
So they really rallied around Jeff and the system that

(18:24):
he put in that he feels like they're putting him
in better positions. Just that confidence helped him. Also, Watts,
who I mentioned in Jesse Bates. Watts is a really
good player. Jesse Bates is Jesse Bates. I don't know
if it was raeem or Jeff Albrick said we've got
the best safety duo in the NFL. Coaches say that

(18:44):
stuff all the time, but I'm not sure. I'm not
sure he's wrong. Those two guys are really good players.
They are rased, They take care of a lot of
deficiencies back there.

Speaker 6 (18:56):
Before we let you go, what's your prediction for this one?

Speaker 7 (18:59):
I mean, there's no reason to pick the Falcons. The
Falcons might come out and roll one of those good
games and win this game, absolutely, but they need to
get the run game going. New England hasn't let any
running back get the run game going. Drake May has
looked lights out, Michael Pennix has not. I mean this
this sets up really well for New England. As we
sit here right now.

Speaker 5 (19:19):
I think you'll know pretty quick though. It seems like
that based on the start, how the game's going to come.

Speaker 4 (19:23):
So I was I would just say that would be
one thing that would concern me from the Patriots side
is the vibes. The whole vibes thing that just talked about.
Everybody's scoring on their first drive against the Patriots. So
if Atlanta goes down in scores, maybe it's one of
those games where they have good vibes and it's not
the slog that that Mike Rabel is looking for. You know,
the Patriots have struggled early in these games, so I

(19:45):
think we might know right away if it's going to
be a game.

Speaker 7 (19:48):
If Atlanta wins the coin toss, they will take the
ball and we'll probably all know in about five minutes,
you know, Okay.

Speaker 4 (19:55):
I'll take the second half off.

Speaker 6 (22:50):
Fulcome back into the Patriots Pregame Show fueled by duncan
We see Drake May warming up here at Deleette Stadium.
I do so, Paulo. I'm quaddi lunis. And let's talk
a little bit about the quarterback matchup today too. Like
we mentioned before the break, second year quarterbacks one having
a little more success than others.

Speaker 3 (23:09):
Well, Drake has done the thing.

Speaker 5 (23:10):
And I got to get Paul credit because every time,
you know, everyone wants predictions all off season, and you know,
we'd make our predictions and then Paul would always be.

Speaker 3 (23:17):
Like, but the one.

Speaker 5 (23:19):
Thing is if Drake just makes a huge second year jump,
then all bets are off.

Speaker 3 (23:23):
And that's what we've seen here and we've seen this.

Speaker 4 (23:26):
All bets are off.

Speaker 5 (23:28):
And you know, even still as you continue to talk
about you know, when you see the Patriots have won
six games.

Speaker 3 (23:33):
You start to talk about it a little different. What
are their flaws?

Speaker 5 (23:35):
You know, what are the things that they need to
do to not only get to the playoffs but be
successful there. And this is just kind of all bets
are off now with the way Drake is playing for me,
it's can he keep it up? And I think that's
a lot to ask. We have to be, you know,
ready for him to you know, have maybe some games
where your regresses a little bit. I mean, today is
an interesting matchup just with the amount that they're probably
gonna blitz him. So maybe a unique new challenge. But

(23:57):
you know, last week we thought he handled it pretty
well overall, as we unverre seeing Deannes Johnson there, who
might be one of those stories where last week he
was you know, not even here and to right, you know,
one of the kind of the one position you can
do it. I mean, maybe there's other positions bring it up.

Speaker 4 (24:14):
I mean, he's run zone, he's run gap, he's run
dual like, he's run the run plays that the NFL runs.
There's there's not a huge amount that you'd have to
get a guy prepped for to just say we need
you to give us ten twelve snaps and we're going
to give you the ball four or five times. Something
like that I think would be in play now. If

(24:36):
they don't feel like he's had enough time to do that,
then understood the fact that they elevated him the way
they did immediately tells me that he will have a
role today.

Speaker 5 (24:45):
Yeah, and I wonder too if maybe you take a
look at both those guys, Paul, maybe you see can
one of these guys, even when Ramonder comes back, still
give us a little something help us out. I think
it's a position they need depth that trade deadline coming up.
I don't know if we're expecting any major moves, but
if it isn't, these are the kind of guys that
you need to maybe step up.

Speaker 4 (25:03):
Yeah, take a little bit of a quick detour here
from the Falcons game and today, Oh, Mike, this is
the game on NFL Network that we.

Speaker 5 (25:12):
Were talking about last time, the Falcons defuse the Patriots
week ten ninety eight.

Speaker 4 (25:16):
Paul Parilla was there, left and discussed in the third
quarter anyway, as Fred loves to say, they can't see that,
so please stop talking. But you mentioned the trade deadline, Mike,
and over the weekend, looks like one of the National
stories is the potential fire sale that could be going
on in Miami. There's some individual talent there. I am

(25:40):
not necessarily a believer that Jalen Wattle is going to
be on that list, and they even said like at
least a first round pick the least, So I'm not
necessarily looking at Jalen Wattle and getting moved. Not that
the Patriots would be looking to do something like that,
but there are some pieces there I think that have

(26:01):
been tied. If there was at least one national report
had Jalen Phillips and the Patriots tied, that's an edge
rusher I'd be interested in. But that's another one I
just don't understand. If you're Miami and you're looking to rebuild,
that's a guy you want to rebuild with. He's still young,
He's a talented guy. I know Philly's got strong interests.

(26:21):
Vic Fangio has mentioned because he spent a year as
the Dolphins defensive coordinator, he's very high on Phillips. But
just some guys to keep in mind. Mike and I
have been sort of we've been on the lookout for
edge rushers, and we keep talking about guys like Trey Hendrickson,
but there's some veterans also in Miami. Old friend Matthew Judon.

(26:42):
I think he'd be less of likely. But maybe Bradley Chubby.
You know, that's not necessarily a difference maker at this
stage of his career, but he would give you some
depth to go along with jay Son and Landry.

Speaker 5 (26:54):
You got Chop Robinson down there, maybe they I would
think he's not going anywhere. You say, hey, let's look
get rid of one of these veterans. Trying to cash
in a little bit. I think it's a position they need.
They traded Keon White this week.

Speaker 4 (27:05):
And for what it's worth, Cincinnati has said they're not
interested in trade to Hendrickson, but I think so it's
kind of correct. You know, if Chicago goes in and
beats the Bengals today, and the Bengals dropped at three
and six, which is very plausible with Joe Flacco, it
looks like he's gonna play, but obviously very banged up
with that shoulder. You know, at three and six to

(27:27):
the Bengals tomorrow have a different answer to that question
than they did today.

Speaker 5 (27:31):
I think just getting a third rusher would be really helpful.
I mean you're kind of living on the edge right
now with just Chase On and Landry and you know
Eferty Jennings solid run stuffer. But look, when you get
to the playoffs, you need to be able to rush
the passer. You need to be able to do it consistently.

Speaker 4 (27:44):
You need fresh But if you could get a guy
like Hendrickson, Mike that I mean your first.

Speaker 5 (27:48):
Right now, I mean now you got you know him,
and Landry can right out of the gate. Can he
Chase On snaps a little bit, I'd be a move.
I would be all in favor of trying to shore
up that edge position, you know, running back it is
what it is. But overall, I can I can see it.
I can see I'd be down with a move this week.

Speaker 4 (28:05):
Running back edge. I always need secondary help.

Speaker 3 (28:09):
So you know what I alays wonder too.

Speaker 5 (28:10):
Paul is the the old Verbel guy that you may
be not quite and maybe not quite on your radar
right now, but oh yeah, he played with Rabel briefly
for this point, you know, and it's not a running back.

Speaker 4 (28:20):
And I heard our buddy Alex Barth talking about this morning.
You know. I guess someone called in Catch twenty two
with Evan and alex during the week. I think it
was Actually he's on the line, Patty and ago On
brought up Tony Pollard. I heard him cheating on us
on another radio show. To you know, I think anybody
is probably available in Tennessee based on what they're going through.

(28:42):
Anybody who's not young, you know, they're they're young core.
I would imagine they want to try to build around.
But you know, Calvin Ridley, Tony Pollard. You know, I
saw Roger McCreary already went is it McCreary or macready creary, Yeah,
he already went to UH in a trade. We saw
a trade yesterday with Jay r Alexander going. So the

(29:02):
activity is starting. Yeah, and I would be surprised if
the Patriots didn't add something.

Speaker 6 (29:07):
Absolutely. You mentioned Keon White. Kyle Dugger also traded. But
do you too feel as though those two trades are
setting up the Patriots for something maybe big?

Speaker 3 (29:15):
I mean, I wouldn't say that it necessarily setting up.

Speaker 5 (29:17):
I think this was you know, two guys that they
held on to, tried to make it work, needed the depth.
When you've even seen Kyle Dugger start the last couple
of games, when injuries have hit it safety.

Speaker 3 (29:28):
But I think at the end of the day, they
realized that these guys.

Speaker 5 (29:30):
Aren't going to be quite what we need and what
we're going to ask them to do. So let's give
them a fresh start. Let's grab a couple late round
draft picks. But you know, I think they can still
do what they want in terms of adding a guys.
So I definitely think that the radar will be up
on Tuesday, because this is you know, Patriot's scene that
does have a couple of little question marks, but you know,
move like I'm not anticipating Hendrickson's going to happen, but

(29:53):
at the same time, like you know, big move like that,
it's you know, we're really trying to patter off some
of our weaknesses and make some noise.

Speaker 4 (29:59):
And you think there's something to the cliche of there's
kind of a window that I don't think a lot
of people anticipated. I think you could make an argument that,
you know, five and three, six and two was not
out of their own possibility given the schedule for the
Patriots heading into the season. But I don't think what
people were anticipating as much of as you know, Joe

(30:20):
Burrow going down for the bulk of the season, Lamar
Jackson missing a month in Baltimore, having five losses at
this stage, Kansas City, you know, losing Xavier Worthy in
the first series of the game, and their offense sputtering
for a month as a result without him and Rashid Rice.
So those have kind of opened the door for somebody

(30:44):
to jump in right now that somebody has been Indianapolis,
and that somebody has been to England, to sort of
jump into spots that they haven't been in in recent years.
That's why I'd be maybe a little bit more aggressive.
I'd take this as an opportunity in a wide open league,
where do I think the Patriots are better than Buffalo,
better than Kansas City, better than Baltimore. Maybe they're not

(31:05):
better than all those teams, but I don't think that
they can't beat all those teams. They already beat Buffalo
at Buffalo.

Speaker 3 (31:10):
You might only need to be one in the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (31:12):
It lines up, Yeah, I mean, you're probably gonna have
to be too, But like I don't care. Like I
think going into the season, I would have said, don't
waste any resources because you're not beating Buffalo or or
Kansas City in a game that matters. I don't think
that anymore. I think the Patriots have gotten to a
point and those other teams have dropped to a point

(31:32):
where it's now pretty close. I think it's pretty close.
I think there's an opportunity.

Speaker 5 (31:37):
Yeah, we talked about the you know, the ninety six
season where you never quite know when it's going to
line up and the Patriots, you know, couldn't beat Denver,
and but Denver gets upset and then all of a sudden,
here's you know, Drew bledsone the Patriots going to the
Super Bowl. What was it like, you know, four or
three years after he was drafted. So you know, it's
a similar kind of thing. You never know when a
season of opportunity is going to arise or a team
gets upset in the playoffs. And I mean, I love

(31:58):
what Paul Saint also would just say the window with Drake.

Speaker 3 (32:00):
I mean, he's you know on that rookie, that rookie deal.

Speaker 5 (32:03):
We've got a couple more years of it, but to
maximize that and I think you saw it a little
bit with Marcus Jones, not specifically related to Drake, but
just an opportunity to in season tie a guy up
this week that you know, you want to continue to
build around and who's having a really great season. So
uh yeah, we'll see, we'll see how they how aggressive
they are. But I think this is the time to
be aggressive when you have, especially with the way Drake's

(32:23):
playing right now, it's you know, give him everything you
can and try to afford.

Speaker 6 (32:28):
Give it to give it to the kid. All Right,
we're talking about Patty and agoam, so let's hear what
Patty has to say in defense of cheating on us
this morning.

Speaker 3 (32:35):
Yeah, Patty, Patty, now he loves the Patriots. He dabbles
in all shows. It's all right, Patty, we don't We're
not mad, Actually.

Speaker 4 (32:41):
I am.

Speaker 2 (32:42):
That's true. That's true. Good morning, Kwannie, Polly and Mikey.

Speaker 8 (32:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (32:47):
I mean there's there's very few things that love more
in light than than spamming other Patriots talk shows, you know.
But yeah, I'm I'm kind of alling on Tony Pollard
if we can get him for for a relatively at
relatively low costs because of what's going on with Ramondre.
But what I wanted to talk about regarding Remandre is
and I apologize if you guys went over this already

(33:09):
because I had a little bit of a chaotic morning
this morning. But how do you feel like.

Speaker 11 (33:17):
You know?

Speaker 2 (33:18):
We we are? We know that Atlanta likes to run
five man fronts on defense, so there's gonna be a
lot of one on one matchups and a sneaky kind
of high high value of Vermandre this year has been
his pass blocking, So you how do you guys see
them attacking? Like if they decided to bring pressure, Like,

(33:38):
who's that extra guys at Jack Westover? I know tray
Bion's been struggling and picking up and picking up extra
guys on the blitz and stuff. I don't know how
good the running back they just elevated, geez, I can't
think of his name, deannest Johnson. If he's good at it,

(33:58):
how do you guys see them picking this up?

Speaker 4 (34:01):
Like it's going to have to be Henderson and blitz,
I mean blitz pick up if we're talking specifically, They're
not going to ask a new a new guy necessarily
to do that. I wouldn't think. I don't know if
Terrell Jennings has that, and I mean he's a physical runner,
but I don't know if that makes him a you know,
a pass blocker. Henderson's been on the team, he's been

(34:22):
in the in the system. He's got to do it.
I mean it's it's a pretty simple thing. He's got
to be able to do it. I thought he was
better at it last week. Uh he had he had
one good rep I can remember in that game against Cleveland.
But this gets back to me to what you just
talked about, Mike about Yeah, well, they have a blitz package,

(34:42):
but they send five. You have five blockers, so it
shouldn't be up to a running back to make sure
that Drake may stays clean if they're only sending five. Yep, yeah,
that's that's you know, the guy's up front need to
do a good job of that.

Speaker 5 (34:59):
But it is I mean, this is a team too
that it's not just third downs, it's the early downs
too that they blitzed a lot.

Speaker 3 (35:03):
So you know, you're right, it's just going to.

Speaker 5 (35:05):
Be a question of can our rookie offensive lineman hold
up long enough, you know, I mean, you can still
have some chips and that kind of thing.

Speaker 3 (35:12):
But I think it's a great question.

Speaker 5 (35:14):
You know, maybe Patty picked it up listening to some
of those other shows this week of the game within
the game and just trying to manage that, trying to
trust these guys. We all know how quickly the game
can turn with one blown block in pass protection and
the ball's out and it's a turnover, and maybe it's
going the other way.

Speaker 4 (35:30):
So that's a concern. The turnovers should be a concern.
They haven't turned it over. You sort of yeah, look
at that and say, I mean we do for one
of those games.

Speaker 5 (35:40):
Yeah, well, I mean, but you know, last week it
was thought you were maybe getting that game for a
little while. Into the credit the Patriots offense and Drake
May they you know, didn't let those mistakes bog them down.

Speaker 3 (35:49):
They got refocused and you know they were able to
pull away.

Speaker 5 (35:51):
Now that's an interesting part too, is just how you're
seeing this team really put together some good football around halftime,
how they've finished up, how they've come out of the
locker room in the quarter, something they really struggle with
over recent years. I mean, Paul would be pulling his
hair out looking at some of the situational football down
you know, the end of the first half where it's hey,
you got a chance to get points, and all of
a sudden, not only do you not get points, but

(36:12):
you handed them three points at least. So they've been
good with that situational play around halftime.

Speaker 3 (36:18):
It's big key if it can continue. So it's how
they've separated themselves the last two games where it's.

Speaker 5 (36:23):
Just this sequence and all of a sudden goes from
a game where the Patriots or maybe a couple of
points down to now they've got like a two score lead.

Speaker 6 (36:28):
So, like you mentioned, the next man of opportunity who's
willing to capitalize and improve that they're worthy of moving
their way up in the roster string. Jason in Florida,
How are you, Jason? Are you awake yet? All right,
Jason's not with us. Nate in Connecticut, Nate, what up?

Speaker 1 (36:50):
Very welcome?

Speaker 3 (36:50):
Yeah, what's up guy?

Speaker 2 (36:52):
All right?

Speaker 11 (36:53):
So my question for you guys today is about Kayshawn Boudi.

Speaker 2 (36:59):
You know, obviously he's had a.

Speaker 11 (37:01):
Tremendous leap from two years ago and now I'm thinking that,
you know, this is going to be.

Speaker 2 (37:09):
Our new guy.

Speaker 11 (37:09):
This is going to be the the guy that leaves
Drake Man in the dynasty. And then a lot of
people were saying that with the trade deadlines coming up,
that we could possibly deal him. I just want your
guys thoughts on this because, in my opinion, I think
he has way too much potential and Drake Man and
Kashawan Boody has been has been looking tremendous this year.

(37:32):
I just don't see us dealing him because of.

Speaker 4 (37:35):
The you know, can I ask you where you saw
is on the trade life.

Speaker 11 (37:44):
I saw a post on Instagram.

Speaker 4 (37:46):
Oh that's probably it was probably fake and I'm not
trying to make fun. I'm being dead serious. It's probably Aige.

Speaker 6 (37:56):
Graphics, so I could I've seen a ton of them.

Speaker 4 (37:59):
You know. And I look at him, I was like,
that didn't happen, don't. Yeah, I mean there was there
was some talk back in eight and eight around the
draft that he could be a veteran that could be
on the move someone.

Speaker 6 (38:13):
Now.

Speaker 4 (38:13):
I think Jeremy Fowler for ESPN had him among a column.
Adam Schefter and Jeremy Fowler like veterans that could move
around the draft for draft picks, and Kayshawn Booty was
was mentioned. I don't believe that I've seen anybody suggest that.
First of all, I'd be very surprised that the Patriots
were going to deal off any player like Keon White

(38:35):
and Kyle Dugger really weren't playing. Keon White wasn't playing
at all. Duger had played a couple of games when
Hawkins was out, but then was back. He was inactive
last week. So they dealt two guys that really weren't
in the picture. I can't imagine they're going to deal
a guy that that's contributing on a on a weekly
basis like Booty.

Speaker 3 (38:55):
Yeah. No, I mean, especially still on a rookie deal.

Speaker 5 (38:57):
I mean, he's got another year after this under contract,
and you know, I just I love the signal of
Marcus Jones getting extended, and you know, like Booty's the
same kind of guy.

Speaker 3 (39:06):
Like he's really developed.

Speaker 5 (39:08):
I think if you watch Josh McDaniels micd up last week,
he saw some of the interactions he had with Booty,
his attention to detail and you know, those kind of things.
It really seems like it's all clicking for him. And yeah,
I wouldn't be in a move to deal him at all.
And in fact, some people, and I think we've gotten
away from people saying, oh, they're going to go trade
for a wide receiver, which you know, certainly they're a
handful of wide receiver ones that I would definitely be

(39:30):
interested in. But I'm not interested in bringing in somebody
who's not going to totally move the needle. I'd rather,
you know, continue to let Booty develop and clearly Drake
May has so much confidence in him to chuck it
down the field. And I'm sure we'll probably, you know,
it'll be interesting to see today. As Paul pointed out,
Falcon's very good against the deep ball that's been Booty's
bread and butter.

Speaker 3 (39:48):
We'll see how he does today.

Speaker 6 (39:49):
It look good together. I don't think anyone wants to
see them broke it up.

Speaker 3 (39:52):
All right.

Speaker 6 (39:52):
We have an email question from Dan Envidge in Michigan.
He asked, the Falcons defense has not allowed a two
hundred yard pastor this season. Are they that good against
the pass or have teams been able to run it
to get the win? So they don't pass the ball
a lot.

Speaker 4 (40:06):
But this is a little bit of a nick nitpicky thing. Yeah,
they have allowed a two hundred yard passer to Well
last week, but they haven't allowed two hundred net yards
passing as a team, So it's a little bit of
a thing. But no, I mean, statistically, statistically the Falcons

(40:26):
pass defense has been excellent. I tried to sort of
get to that a little bit with Josh when he
was in with US Josh Kendall from the Athletic I
think they've done a good job with those safeties in
the back, as Josh said, of keeping everything in front
and limiting big plays. That keeps yards down. So they're
probably contend to give up some completions, but keep everything

(40:48):
in front, tackle, swum to the ball, and they have
the ability to turn you over. So that I think
is probably why they're also playing some teams you know
that haven't been I mean when they beat Washington, I'm
pretty sure that was a game that Mariota played and
not Jaden Daniels. They were San Francisco has been was

(41:10):
beaten up with Mac Jones, so they haven't played a
lot of high powered passing attacks. This, I mean, the
Patriots passing game might be the best one they've seen.

Speaker 5 (41:18):
Yeah, it's one of those interesting matchups too, where it's
you know, if the deep ball isn't there for Drake
and the offense like it has been, it's been such
an engine for them.

Speaker 3 (41:26):
Are they able to stay patient?

Speaker 5 (41:28):
Are they able to you know, make up some of
those yards in the ground game, maybe with an explosive run.
I just you know, each week you get kind of
a game within the game, and that to me really
interesting of you know, is the Patriots offense, if they're
not able to have the big passing place to rely
on for big scores, are they able to consistently execute
and put together some of these drives that you know,
take a little bit more consistency because sometimes other teams

(41:52):
like that they want to force you to continue to
execute because that's when mistakes start to happen in turnovers.
So hopefully we'll learn a little bit something new about
you know, Drake and the offense today.

Speaker 4 (42:01):
Just look at Buffalo and Tampa would probably be the
other two that were you know, and they held those
two reasonably in check as well, you know. So yeah,
I think it's a better defense than they've seen traditionally.
But it's different because there's no real big names. Jesse
Bates is probably the biggest name now, and I think
he's a little kind of heading to the back nine.

(42:24):
Still a cerebral safety. He doesn't get beat a lot,
But I think the names are more on offense for
Atlanta and those guys have not performed all year, whereas
the defense has got a guy, a bunch of guys
that you have to sort of learn more about, but
they've played at a much higher level.

Speaker 5 (42:39):
They have, I mean the disparity two between their past defense,
which ranks first in attempts first and yards, I mean
thirteenth in tds, you know, and then on the rushing
side it's twenty third in attempts, twenty second in yards.
And you know some of those some of those games,
good defense they run. I mean they've given up last
three games one hundred and thirty four rushing yards, one
hundred and seventy four, one hundred and forty one. So
I think part of it too is that once teams

(43:01):
get a little bit of a lead, they're not able
to stop the run, and teams were able to kind
of grind out to victory.

Speaker 3 (43:06):
So that might be a formula today for the Patriots.

Speaker 4 (43:08):
See we'll see there's Chucky Trees, our guy, a.

Speaker 6 (43:12):
Favorite guy cousins. And before that we saw Samjay, local
comedian who did Tom Brady's roast, but he was from Boston.
I was like, oh, I know that person. So I
was like, let me give the camera man a shout
out for spotting her there on the sidelines. But let's
get into over unders. That's brought to you by Errand,
the official lawnmower of the New England Patriots. It's proud
to help Patriots fans get back to football. You can

(43:34):
visit www. Dot Errands dot com to find your Errands.
Paul Parillo, I'll give you the honors of talking a
little bit more about your downfalls.

Speaker 4 (43:47):
Mike Ford too. So everybody everybody eats, everybody, everybody eats, except.

Speaker 6 (43:54):
We did affirmation before we started the show.

Speaker 4 (43:56):
Sokwe continues to set the pace at thirty and eighteen,
twenty eight and twenty and loser Paul is twenty twenty eight.

Speaker 6 (44:03):
I was trying to be cocky about it, all right,
you ready for this week? Well, he wiped his. I
don't know.

Speaker 4 (44:12):
Keep you enthusiastic.

Speaker 6 (44:14):
Okay, we're gonna start with Drake May passing yards to
thirty and a half.

Speaker 3 (44:19):
I'll let you go first. Yeah, you know, I like
the number.

Speaker 5 (44:22):
I I I'd like to think that Atlanta's past defense
will live up to their ratings today and keep them
below three hundred dish. But I'm gonna say Drake is
the first to officially break two hundre passing yards, I'm
gonna go over.

Speaker 4 (44:37):
I'm gonna take I'm just gonna say two or three
for over two hundred last week.

Speaker 3 (44:40):
I'm just.

Speaker 5 (44:43):
Initially for over two hundred yards last but he got
too many sack yards.

Speaker 6 (44:48):
Yeah, balance, I'm gonna take the over with Drake on
this one.

Speaker 4 (44:52):
I'm going to take the under because I am going
to listen to our guest Josh Kendall, who is playing,
how they're limiting the big plays, and I would not
expect Drake made a suddenly complete fifty percent of his
passes today when he's completing seventy five percent on a
routine basis. So I think he'll continue to be successful,

(45:13):
but they'll make him do it a little bit, a
little bit shorter chunks at a time as opposed to
the big place. Oh, because that's but that's what killed them.
You know, like that number last week. You know it's
like the forty five yard played to Pop Douglas at
the end of the first half. You know, the thirty
nine yard touchdown a booty. It was kind of one
of those games where it was looking like it was

(45:34):
going to be under that number, and all of a
sudden it was like way over it because of a
couple of big plays here or there. So I'm gonna
I'm going to go with Josh Kendall and say under
there we go.

Speaker 6 (45:44):
Stephan Dick's receiving yards fifty and a half on the
tricky one.

Speaker 4 (45:50):
So I'm going to go with a trend here. I
think Diggs looks like he might be slowing down a
little bit and they're just kind of using him on
got to have it place. I'm going to take the under.

Speaker 6 (46:00):
I'm one hundred percent with you on the under. As
much as I'd love to see him get more yardage,
it feels as though he hasn't been doing that. So
thinking with the trends with Paul.

Speaker 3 (46:08):
I'm gonna make it interesting.

Speaker 4 (46:10):
I'm gonna go over.

Speaker 3 (46:11):
I mean, I agree with Paul's thing.

Speaker 5 (46:12):
If if the ball isn't there to go deep down
the field, you might have to execute little more. You
might have to convert a few more third downs, you
might be in the situations a little more.

Speaker 3 (46:20):
We need sefon digs.

Speaker 4 (46:21):
So a great job of using my nonsense against me.

Speaker 3 (46:25):
It's only taking six years.

Speaker 6 (46:27):
Up next we have be John Robinson. His rushing yards
at seventy and a half, I'll start. I'm gonna take
the over on that one. If they're going to be
relying on him for the run game, he needs to produce.

Speaker 3 (46:37):
It's a good it's a good number.

Speaker 6 (46:39):
Defense though, that's a good number.

Speaker 3 (46:40):
I'm gonna go.

Speaker 5 (46:41):
I'm gonna go over to I think that they contain
Bijon enough to get the win and not let him
control the game.

Speaker 3 (46:47):
But I think he's too good. I think this is
going to be the first time Patriots give up a
rusher over whatever it is, fifty ish.

Speaker 4 (46:53):
Yeah, I'm going to take the under because I think
it might be more receiving yards.

Speaker 3 (47:00):
Oh, I like it.

Speaker 4 (47:01):
I think it might be more receiving yard today smart play.
But I think that they're able to contain the wide zone.
I think they've done a good job of that all year,
and I think that plays to their strength. So under un.

Speaker 6 (47:17):
Up next. We have undreds kicking points, seven and a half.

Speaker 3 (47:23):
And a half.

Speaker 5 (47:26):
Yeah, that's like that's like and two touchdowns. I'm going
to go under on this one. I just feel like
it's uh, I don't know, spinning the spinning the dial on.

Speaker 6 (47:35):
That I am just going to contradict everything I picked
and go over.

Speaker 4 (47:40):
I'm going to take you over to I think the
Patriots will score some points today, so obviously the kicker
has to come out and kick extra points.

Speaker 6 (47:49):
All right, up? Next, total New England touchdowns at two
and a half.

Speaker 3 (47:55):
Hm hmmm, that's tougher math.

Speaker 4 (47:58):
I'll take you over. But because I'm a Homer, you are.

Speaker 6 (48:01):
Paul the high scoring game according to us, I'm gonna
take the over as well.

Speaker 3 (48:06):
Yeah, I'm with you, guys. That's I think they'll score three.

Speaker 6 (48:10):
And finally the final score total score forty two and
a half math Uh Okay, I guess from everything I picked,
I'm gonna have.

Speaker 3 (48:21):
To go with over going over.

Speaker 4 (48:22):
Yeah, I took the over also, trying to be consistent
the hard thing.

Speaker 3 (48:27):
God, I'm like, right on it. Trust your shoot, I'm
gonna go over.

Speaker 4 (48:33):
Yeah, Grad, you are so tortured trying to say people.

Speaker 5 (48:39):
Are going through trying to figure out what their meaningless
prediction is going to be. To capture the spirit of
the thing.

Speaker 6 (48:44):
There, Okay, we're gonna look at the bigger picture of
the NFL. Now, it's time now for the Sunday six pack.
It's brought to you by the mask Ye.

Speaker 5 (48:55):
I'm getting to get the better bring to get.

Speaker 3 (49:00):
This is this Sunday sixth bad.

Speaker 6 (49:02):
I almost forgot my favorite song had to play before
I told you that. It's brought to you by the
Massachusetts two fifty campaign commemorating a history of possibility. You
can plan your revolutionary weekend at Massachusetts two fifty dot org.
Can't believe next year the country celebrates two hundred and
fifty years. That's so exciting. All right, how did we
do on six packs last week?

Speaker 4 (49:22):
Pretty much the same? Oh my gosh, it's Kwannie and
Mike at four and two and Loser Paul at two
and four. So it's Kwanny twenty six and eighteen. You
didn't quite go six and oh this week what you
did last.

Speaker 6 (49:36):
I would like to thank the academy, though.

Speaker 4 (49:38):
Mike, you're perfectly adequate in your adiquocity at twenty two
and twenty two.

Speaker 6 (49:42):
That's really nice. You should have played a lottery there.

Speaker 4 (49:45):
And loser Boy is nineteen and twenty five.

Speaker 6 (49:48):
It's a good year. I'm sorry, Paul, you will get better.
I want to remove a loser from your vocabulary before
the season end.

Speaker 3 (49:55):
You don't want to do that.

Speaker 6 (49:57):
No, okay, let's get into this. Expect the Minnesota Vikings
at the Detroit Lions Detroit nine and a half points.

Speaker 5 (50:09):
JJ McCarthy is back, But man, I don't think it
matters Detroit at Detroit.

Speaker 3 (50:14):
We're going to make a message. I'll take Detroit. I'm
gonna lay the nine and a half.

Speaker 4 (50:18):
Yeah, I am with you. I am going to take
Detroit also at home. I like that offense.

Speaker 6 (50:24):
All three of us with Detroit at home, they're five
and two. May better be six and two by the
end of the evening. All right. Up next, Chicago Bears
at the Cincinnati bengalsicago and a half.

Speaker 4 (50:37):
So this one is a tough game because the Bears
just haven't really looked great offensively. Caleb Williams continues to
show the inconsistencies from game to game and week to week. However,
I think that Bengals defense is wretchedly bad. So I'm
going to take the Bears on the road.

Speaker 3 (50:59):
You wan me to go? Yes, Yeah, I'm paul.

Speaker 5 (51:01):
I'm gonna take the Bears to part of it. I
hope that maybe convinced Sincy to sell off some of
their pieces. Maybe, but I think this is one of
those weeks where Chicago back on the up swing.

Speaker 3 (51:11):
I'll take the Bears.

Speaker 6 (51:12):
I'll take the Bengals at home and see if they
can rally.

Speaker 3 (51:16):
Flaco.

Speaker 4 (51:16):
Yeah, he is gonna play. He is gonna fight, confirmed
Daniel l Arusso.

Speaker 6 (51:22):
Next, they actually do include the Giants every week now
San Francisco forty nine ers at the Giants, Santa fran
with two and.

Speaker 3 (51:30):
A half Mat Jones.

Speaker 4 (51:33):
Yeah, I'm George turned.

Speaker 6 (51:34):
Yeah, go, I am taking San Francisco.

Speaker 3 (51:38):
Oh wow, to not see that turning on Jackson Dart.

Speaker 5 (51:43):
Uh, yeah, I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go San Franco. Yeah,
that's close enough.

Speaker 4 (51:50):
So I like the Giants at home, and I think
that they play differently there, and Jackson Dart I still
think has given them a little bit of a lift.
Take the Giants for the mild upset.

Speaker 6 (52:02):
Did you say your son was doing a dart eye?

Speaker 5 (52:03):
Yeah, he was trying to. He couldn't find his eye
blocked this morning though, so luckily we didn't have.

Speaker 4 (52:07):
To have to deal with that, all right.

Speaker 6 (52:09):
Jacksonville Jaguars at the Las Vegas Raiders Jacksonville three.

Speaker 3 (52:15):
It's another one points.

Speaker 5 (52:17):
I just I can't pick the Raiders right and again
that that Week one loss for the Patriots continues to
vex me now more and more with each passing week.
But I'm going to take Jacksonville on the road.

Speaker 4 (52:27):
Well, I don't want to be vexed like Mike, so
I'm going to take Jacksonville also.

Speaker 6 (52:31):
Okay, Well, I'm taking Jacksonville without being vexed and without
not being vexed.

Speaker 4 (52:35):
I'm vexless, vexless, all right.

Speaker 6 (52:39):
Kansas City, we just talked about them at the Buffalo
Bills K's City two and a half. I'm excited for
this one.

Speaker 4 (52:45):
Might get a little red zone time. We will be
talking about the post show. If you need updates on
the Chiefs and Bills, great team, I'll be here to
give them to you Hanson style. Uh So, Kansas City
is favored on the road, Mike by two and a half.
I think Buffalo wins out right, Yeah, I think Buffalo.

(53:06):
I think Buffalo likes to play Kansas City in the
regular season. It's the playoffs when they can't beat them.

Speaker 3 (53:13):
Well, I'm gonna go against what Paul just said.

Speaker 5 (53:15):
I don't know, I just I'm back to thinking Casey's
starting to really peak, I get everything he said. This
could be a huge win for Kansas City though, over
the Bills in Buffalo, just to kind of reset their season,
really get them on a good tracks.

Speaker 3 (53:28):
I'm gonna go, Casey.

Speaker 6 (53:28):
I feel like if my record's at stake with this one,
and I am very nervous, but I will be taking o.
I think I'm gonna take the Buffalo Bills.

Speaker 3 (53:37):
Out, all right.

Speaker 4 (53:38):
I'm a little concerned. I think Mike might have This
game means more to Kansas That means a lot to
both teams, sure, but Kansas City has two teams that
they're dealing with that are ahead of them in the standings.
If the Bills lose this game, they were a game
behind the Patriots. I know everybody makes a big deal
out of the whole tiebreaker. The tiebreaker doesn't matter until
the season's over they play again. So if buff if

(54:02):
Buffalo beats them, then that tie breaker was eliminated as
well as the game lead. If the Patriots win, they
don't need the tie breaker, they'd be ahead of them,
you know, seeing my point, Yeah, So I think it
means a little bit with Kansas City if they're going
to win the AFC West. This is a big game
for them, whereas Buffalo. I mean, Buffalo needs to win too,

(54:22):
but if they lose this, they have plenty of season
left to catch up. One game, you know, with a
game to play against the one team that's ahead of
them in New England.

Speaker 6 (54:31):
Breaking that down.

Speaker 4 (54:32):
Yeah, all right, that's what I do, Minutia, the things
that do not matter. I'm your guy.

Speaker 6 (54:39):
The Atlanta Falcons here ad against the Patriots New England
with four and a half, You guys know, I'm already
taking the Patriots.

Speaker 4 (54:47):
Taking the past until they Yeah, yeah, I think all
of us have the Patriots of this one. I'm not
going to tell you that Atlanta can't win because I
think I think that well. I think they have a
lot of talent. I think you can make a strong
eye argument that Land is more talented than the Patriots,
but they haven't shown it all year, and they don't
have Drake May.

Speaker 3 (55:05):
Yeah, and ultimately that's the talent equalizer key spot.

Speaker 5 (55:09):
I mean, I think you'll know pretty quickly, you know,
as we talked about with Josh earlier, that right out
of the gate you'll have a sense and I just
get the Patriots get off to a good start, you
know what the formula is going to be for Atlanta,
and if it's if it's unfolding, you'll have a good
sense of it because they're gonna be able to rush
the ball with Bijon, They're going to be targeted in
the middle of the field and that's going to open
up Pennix doing what he did in college, which was
throwing the ball down the field with great accuracy. And

(55:31):
that's an element with Drake London that that I think
is a good challenge for the Patriots. Even Mooney, he's
got some speed. So the Patriots come out good right
from the get Go get a lead, don't let them
to get in control of the game, don't allow them
to play the way that they want to play. And
I'm going to say, Patriots, what I land on twenty
seven sixteen?

Speaker 4 (55:50):
He landed somehow on exactly the score that I pay
you think. I actually just say, well, he changes he
changes his scores because he steal it, and then I
say it first, he changes them like very slightly. I
believe he had. I believe he had twenty eight seventeen
when we did it on Monday, and now it's twenty
seven sixteen.

Speaker 3 (56:09):
That's more.

Speaker 4 (56:10):
But I agree with everything Mike said. This is the
kind of game that I think both of us see unfolding.
I don't think that Atlanta will just completely no show
the way they have against Miami and earlier in the
season against Carolina. But I don't think that they're consistent
enough to beat the to beat the Patriots in Foxborough
right now, Given the way the Patriots are playing, I'm

(56:31):
a believer in that momentum. I think they make it
six in a row.

Speaker 6 (56:34):
I was gonna ask earlier, do you feel as though
Pennix being a lefty? I know they played a few
weeks ago that in panaw but do you think that
makes a difference in a game like this, especially if
he can't.

Speaker 5 (56:45):
No, I mean a little bit, But I think ultimately
you know they're going to do what they try to do.
Maybe it alters your rush plans a little bit and
you're trying more to send guys off his backside to
get them where he.

Speaker 3 (56:57):
Can't see them.

Speaker 5 (56:57):
But no, I mean at this point, they've they've seen
a couple of lefties, so I think they'll maybe they
beat that one.

Speaker 4 (57:03):
I don't think lefty right it matters for an offense
because stuff is sort of structured in a different way.
But defensively, you got you got to.

Speaker 6 (57:15):
Keep your eye on the person.

Speaker 4 (57:16):
Yeah, the fruit.

Speaker 6 (57:18):
All right, we have time for one more caller. Who
should I pick? I won't read the names because then
the fields that I've made. Let's go to friends in Maine.
Hi Francis, Hello, France.

Speaker 4 (57:28):
Hello, how are you doing today?

Speaker 6 (57:30):
You're a lucky caller?

Speaker 11 (57:33):
All right, I have I want to say our defensive
mind has been doing a great job, and my concern is.

Speaker 3 (57:40):
Morgan, Morgan, Mosey Moses. He's always had a high.

Speaker 11 (57:45):
I'm making a complete season without injury. What a is
out planning their offensive line on that side of the ball.

Speaker 2 (57:55):
To protect Drake May.

Speaker 3 (57:57):
Yeah, that's my question.

Speaker 5 (57:58):
You I say, the first part of the is giving
him Wednesdays off. He's like, that's been part of the
dan at least this week with Mortgan Moses. But if
it gets to that point, you probably have Marcus Bryant,
the rookie who's been like I said, he's the next
st up. Yeah, so we'll see, uh how that plays out.
But yeah, Marcus Bryant's a giant though. He's a big,
big boy and old friend Vederian Lowe was there as well.

(58:21):
So I think Brabel and staff are doing everything they
can to manage some of the veterans. You heard him
say it after the game last week. You know, we're
gonna have to start managing some of these guys who
are older and vats. And you expect that from a
former player who knows the wear and tear that starts
to add up at this time of year, especially with
a late buy and you're not really going to get
a break. So you know, fingers crossed mark and Moses
has been you know, important part of that change and

(58:43):
you know, solidifying the offensive line right now. So they
need him for sure, and hopefully he can get seventeen games.

Speaker 6 (58:50):
Hey, we'll see, all right, you know what, Jacob, we'll
close out with you. You're a lucky caller as well.
How you doing in Indiana, Jacob? Or maybe Jacob's not
with this ol fee less bad perfect? Sorry Jacob? All right,
wellcome for that cold scamming final thoughts as we had upstairs.

Speaker 5 (59:07):
Good opportunity for the Patriots to the ball, you know,
protect the ball and you know, don't don't let it
get away from you early. Go out there and you know,
get a fast start, but really interested just to see,
you know, a how the Patriots handle the blitz and
the aggressiveness of their defense to some extent, but ultimately
the running backs. Just how does that all play out?
Who gets the chances? Do they find a bit of
a spark there?

Speaker 3 (59:27):
Is it a complete dud? And they really have to lean.

Speaker 5 (59:29):
Into May in the passing offense. That's I think the
most interesting thing for me right out of the shoot.

Speaker 4 (59:34):
I love Mike's Mike's two pronged attack there, you know,
just fast start, protect the ball, and I feel like
the Patriots have the momentum right now to continue the
good vibes for Drake May. I mean, I I do
have some concerns, you know, if if the Falcons are
as aggressive defensively as people are making them out to be,

(59:54):
which when I watch them, I don't really see that.
But everybody's sort of talking all about this blitz stuff.
I don't think the offensive line has been great. I
know I'm on an island with that because I think
everybody is still in PTSD over how bad it was
last year, and there's no question it's been better than
it was last year. But you did allow six sacks
last week. You get behind the chains consistently and they're

(01:00:16):
going to come after you, and that's when turnovers happened.
So what Mike said, protect the ball, fast start. Atlanta
hasn't been able to put sixty minutes together and haven't
been able to put good games together. Don't let today
be the day.

Speaker 6 (01:00:28):
Don't let it. I like that. That's the way to
end the show, all right for Paul Parillo and Mike
do so. I'm Quannie Luna to make sure you fly
back over here after the game for all your postgame analysis.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
