In life you can get on the wrong track that takes you completely off course. Often you are not aware of what got you there or why you stay that course and after a while it is really hard to change direction because by now habits have been formed, addictions and cravings and urges are setting in and knee-jerk reactions are the name of the game. By now unhealthy eating habits are the mainstay. Sedentary lifestyles make it even worse and now there are many factors working against how you feel about yourself mentally and physically. The beginnings of chronic illnesses are setting in. It gets harder and harder to move around. Depression and anxiety sets in. Relationships are suffering. Finances are suffering. Where do you begin when the world is throwing images of perfect bodies at you and one diet after another that is sure to be The Answer. The answer is not another diet. Most of those budding and possibly already chronic illnesses can be much improved and many can even be reversed with a complete lifestyle transformation. But there is another layer to this that goes even deeper. Those are the reasons why you get stuck in knee jerk reactions. And that is unresolved traumatic events. Many times these are events you may be dismissing because they happened too long ago, yet the question is not how long ago something happened. The question is, how was this event perceived by you at the time of the event, because that is how it is stored. And this is often the root of the behaviors that you want to change but find so incredibly impossible to change. This and more is what I will reveal how to resolve in my book that I am currently writing. I will share excerpts in today's show of the book which is scheduled to be published in the fall of 2021. Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
