If you bring someone to church who’s never been, they’ll tell you—the weirdest part is worship. You may be used to it by now, but where else do we huddle in the dark, close our eyes, and sing love songs to someone who’s invisible? So, why do churches do it? What do we think it’s doing? Can’t you get the same effect listening to worship music alone in your car? Why have humans been gathering and singing since the dawn of time? Why does Scripture prescribe it? Can exploring God’s intentions change how we approach it and fulfilling we find it?
