Speaker 1 (00:12):
Hello and welcome to the Dairobi Health Show.
I am recording from the deck ofmy mother's condo Beautiful
Abbotsford, british Columbia,beautiful British Columbia.
I'm not sure what kind ofbackground sounds you might hear
or how this audio will be, butthe birds are singing.
It's a beautiful, clear day, mydog is beside me and will

(00:35):
hopefully be good during thisepisode, and I want to talk to
you today about a veryfascinating enzyme called xylose
isomerase.
Very fascinating enzyme calledxylose isomerase.
You may be thinking that thisis the strangest sounding
supplement you've ever heard of,and you may be right.
However, if you suffer frombloating, gas, indigestion or

(00:56):
other digestive issues, it'ssomething you will want to know
about and try.
It is referred to as a magicpill by many people who try it.
It has a catalytic role.
Here's the science-y stuff.
Don't worry, I'll go through itquickly.
It converts xylose to xyluloseand it offers significant

(01:18):
benefits, especially in managingfructose malabsorption.
Now, fructose malabsorption is agenetic condition and people
have it to varying degrees andchances are you or someone in
your family has some element ofit.
One kind of gut check, literally, is this If you eat an

(01:38):
apple, does it hurt yourstomach?
Eating an apple should not hurtyour stomach if everything is
working fine in your digestivesystem.
But if it does, there's a verygood chance that your stomach
has a tough time digestingfructose, and fructose is in a
lot of stuff it turns out, andso if you're having digestive
issues, fructose is a sneakything.

(01:59):
That's put into a lot ofprepared foods, it's in a lot of
restaurant foods and it'ssomething that you may have
thought.
I eat a very healthy meal.
Why would my stomach hurt?
It could be because there'sfructose.
However, this is not the onlycondition that enzymes generally
and xylosisomerase aid with.
As you know, enzymes arecritical for our digestion and

(02:20):
our modern diet, unfortunately,is full of things that break
down and destroy enzymes, bacteria prebiotics and
probiotics that occur naturallyin our stomach.
So fructose malabsorption isn'tthe only issue people have
digesting food, but it's a bigone, hard to diagnose.
It's often self-diagnosed.

(02:42):
Oftentimes people will simplytry an enzyme like this before
they eat and then eat and, knowing that that particular
meal makes them feel bloated orgassy or have pain, they then
can tell whether the enzyme thatthey take before they eat helps
or not.
It's a fantastic personalexperiment that you can do on

(03:04):
yourself at any time.
Of course.
Now again, fructosemalabsorption isn't the only
thing that people struggle withwhen it comes to digestion.
We have xylosysomerase only inone of our supplements.
Our only real digestive youknow, direct digestive
supplement is Eat Anything RX,and one of the things we did is

(03:25):
we developed this for fructosemalabsorption and other
malabsorption issues.
However, there are so manydigestive issues it's estimated
that 60 to 70 million peoplehave some sort of digestive
disorder that 60 to 70 millionpeople have some sort of
digestive disorder that what wedid is we went ahead and made
xylosisomerase the all-starenzyme in Eat Anything RX, but

(03:46):
then what we did is add APLC,which is an enzyme blend for
general digestive support.
We added amylase forcarbohydrate digestion, protease
to break down proteins, lipaseto digest fats and cellulase to
help digest fiber and plantcellulose.

(04:07):
Now you might be thinking well, shouldn't our stomach just kind
of figure out how to do all thatstuff?
And the answer is yes, ideally,if we lived in a perfect world.
However, between genetics wedon't all have perfect genetics
and some have a better stomachbiomicron right out of the gate

(04:27):
genetically.
But then as we eat processedfoods and there's preservatives
that go into our stomach and aredestroying some of the bacteria
in our stomach, especially overtime.
Our modern society reallywreaks havoc on our digestive
system, so bloating, gas andindigestion are the most common

(04:49):
experiences.
Then, of course, there's actualdiseases that people, sadly,
are dealing with as well.
And of course, in any of thisdiscussion I recommend if you're
having constant issues withdigestion, you definitely want
to see a professional and ruleout that you don't have some
underlying medical conditionthat needs to be treated.

(05:11):
But as far as the mundanechallenges of a digestive health
, you really ought to do someexperimentation with
xylosysomerase, other enzymes, prebiotics and probiotics, all
of which we do include in EatAnything Rx.
So make sure and use the codePODCAST to save 10% if you want
to give it a try.

(05:31):
Now a little bit of a deeperdive into digestive issues.
Processed foods are a culprit,as I've already mentioned.
Try to avoid them.
Try to eat as few processedfoods as possible and this will
definitely help your digestion, especially not just eliminating
processed foods but replacingthem with fruits and veggies.
Stress has a major effect onyour stomach.

(05:52):
As a matter of fact.
Have you ever noticed howsometimes you hear some bad news
and you feel it in your gut?
There is absolutely arelationship between your stress
levels and your digestivehealth.
So consider some form of amindfulness practice or stress
program to help yourself to havebetter digestion.
Believe it or not, a sedentarylifestyle, of course, also is

(06:16):
not helping our digestivesituation.
So exercise this is why we talkabout in the Dirobi Undiet
exercise every single day.
Your entire body requires it,even your digestive system, your
eating habits.
We eat too quickly and we eattoo much, so try to eat slowly,
and by simply eating slowly youwill eat less and you'll enjoy

(06:37):
your food more.
And then there's just naturalfood sensitivities and allergies
.
These are tougher.
Seeing an allergist can help.
Of course, all of the things Imentioned before can also aid
with allergies, but seeing aprofessional who can help you
with allergies allergies that isa great idea as well, because
it could be you have a digestiveissue that is caused by some

(07:00):
sort of food allergy that maysurprise you.
And then we have microbiomedisruption, such as taking too
many antibiotics, and this leadsto a condition called dysbiosis
, which can lead to digestiveissues.
And you can solve this one bymaking sure that you have
probiotic foods such as yogurt, kimchi, sauerkraut and kombucha.

(07:25):
And dehydration.
Our body is made of water.
We need a lot of water, makesure and drink half your body
weight in ounces every singleday.
So there you have it, a shortlittle podcast on xylosysomerase
, digestive issues generally and, again, if you're struggling
with these things, of course itwould be wise to rule out a

(07:46):
major underlying condition byseeing a healthcare professional
.
But treating yourself as yourown best science experiment and
trying something like EatAnything, rx, try cutting down
on processed foods, tryexercising more, try drinking
more water, and the combinationof the right things for you can
hopefully help with digestiveissues, and then you can get

(08:08):
back to the natural state we allhope for, which is where we eat
good, healthy foods and theydon't hurt our stomach, they
don't cause bloating and gas orpain, and we can live a healthy,
happy lifestyle.
Until next time, this is DaveSherwin, wishing you health and
success.
