Speaker 1 (00:00):
How is Caleb Trains' singer in changing positions?

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Yeah, Ke's doing KEYLB is doing awesome. We we were
very excited just during the draft process. We thought, based
on his skill set, what he showed on tape, that
he'd be able to make that transition and play more
UH as safety. And he hasn't disappointed. He's done a
tremendous job. Every day's a new day, you know, every

(00:26):
every rep is a new rep.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
So he's learning.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Uh, all those safeties are learning, but he's doing a
tremendous job of picking it up.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
I think he's super athletic.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
I think he's got a very high ceiling in this league,
and I'm excited to see him continue to grow, uh
within the schemes of our defense.

Speaker 4 (00:42):
So how hard is it for tribs going back and forth?
How's he handling that? And especially the.

Speaker 5 (00:50):
Part of Yeah, I don't know if I can speak
on how hard it is for him.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
I know that he's done a tremendous job through this
whole process. Anytime you're transitioning from from college in the NFL,
obviously there's gonna be a huge learning curve on one
side of the ball. So the fact that he's doing
it on both sides of the ball. I think just
speaks to his character, speaks to how he's he's wired mentally.
He's done a tremendous job of bouncing back and forth.

(01:15):
You know, obviously, when when he's with the offense, he's
he's he's working with those guys. But when he's with us,
he does a good job. In the meeting rooms, he
does a great job picking it up. I know that
Milo does a good job working with him one on one,
and then our assistant Drew does a tremendous job. He'll
take him one on one on the side and just
help him get caught up to speed on some of

(01:35):
the stuff that he may miss.

Speaker 5 (01:37):
But just the fact that he's been able to function.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
And navigate going and playing on both sides of the
ball up to this point, in my mind, speaks he
speaks to the world of who he is as a
player and as a person. And then obviously, you guys
see what he's able to do on the field on
both sides of the ball. So he's a tremendous talent.
I'm excited he's here with us. I'm excited that we
get to use him when we get to use him,
and yeah, we'll see how it continues to grow, the.

Speaker 6 (02:01):
First time you saw him on the field, you thought
the first time you got him out.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Yeah, I mean so w SA same thing with Caleb
w As you're going through the draft process, You've got
a pretty good idea of who he is as a player,
who he is athletically, and what you saw on tape.

Speaker 5 (02:18):
Very extremely fluid athlete.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Uh, got a great burst, just super athletic, great body control,
tremendous ball skills. So that's kind of what you were
anticipating when he got here.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
And then when you start.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Plugging him in on defense at corner, even though he
doesn't know everything, you see all those traits that you
expect to see start to show up.

Speaker 5 (02:40):
And and so it's it's been exciting.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
Like I said, I'm I'm I'm fired up that we
get to have and we get to use him, and
I'm excited to.

Speaker 5 (02:46):
See what this season brings and what he's able to do.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
For us on both sides of the ball.

Speaker 7 (02:51):
He mentioned that he might not know everything, but are
there times when the football archeue and the instincts kinda
he kind of figures it out.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
Oh yeah, Yeah, I mean, uh, he's he he's.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
He's a he's a football player, right, He's a he's
a really good football player. And and he he's the
type of guy no matter what he does, he finds.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
A way to be successful.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
Or we had a a corner the tournament the other
day and you just see him tossing bean bag there,
just going in one right after the other. I mean, what,
whatever he does, he's gonna be successful. So yeah, you
definitely see just his his inherent skills take over and
he'll continue to grow, continue to learn. Uh, he'll continue
to learn the defenses, will continue to you know, holing

(03:31):
into some of the technicalities or what what we're asking
him to do. But at the end of the day,
he's a really good football player, and he's he's gonna
find a way to make the play, which is what
he's done up to this point.

Speaker 6 (03:41):
Is he really like smiling, laughing, joking around, having a
good time all the time?

Speaker 2 (03:46):
Is he like is he always in a good he
He's he's a he's a genuine person.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
Like he really is.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
When when he's on the field and he's locked in,
he's locked in. But you can tell he's a great teammate.
When you watch him interact with the rest of the players. Uh,
every time that we get a chance to interact with
him in meetings, he he's he's bright eyed, he's ready
to go. So I think how he interacts with us
in this building and how he is out in public
with what everybody sees, I think it's one and the

(04:14):
same person. I think he's very genuine, he's authentic to
who he is, and.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
He's just a great human being.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
It's hard not to.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Yeah, I if you found anybody in this world that
didn't like him, I'd i'd I'd call bs on that.

Speaker 4 (04:29):
I went the jackal.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
I was ecstatic. I was ecstatic.

Speaker 5 (04:35):
I mean, yeah, he's a tremendous talent.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
Like I said, you go through the draft process and
you see the type of athlete he is and what
he's able to do on both sides of the ball,
and then all of a sudden you find out that
he's gonna be a jag.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
I'm fired up.

Speaker 4 (04:47):
What has this.

Speaker 8 (04:47):
Process been like, obviously with a lot of new coaches
in terms of I mean first time head coach, yeah,
sack coordinators, of what's the adjustment been like, what's it like.

Speaker 9 (04:56):
Being around those kind of it's uh, it's excite.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
It's always a exciting.

Speaker 9 (05:00):
Because like for me, it's it's so cool and you
need to be able to build something from the ground
up and just put your own spin on it, you know.
That's that's what this time of year usually is like
and other places I've been or in the past, when
you're when you're trying to improve from the year before,

(05:21):
you try to strip apart what you did the year
before and then put it back together to see where
the issues were. And I think the nice thing when
you're new is like it's it's a little easier to
do that because you have to, you know. So it's
been fun learning all the guys and learning what they're
capable of and what like what our staples will have

(05:43):
to be moving forward.

Speaker 4 (05:45):
You have some i would say, a good truck returners
to your group. What's it been like to kind of
learn from them as well and what they know.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
It's it's been great.

Speaker 9 (05:55):
Like I do, I do take a lot of pride
in being open minded and definitely listen to the players
because the players know the issues before we do. You know,
we we we obviously know it on paper and me
and we plan for it and we try to teach
it based off of our past experiences, but the issues

(06:15):
come up to them faster than they do with us
because they're the ones on the grass. So that's that's
the biggest takeaway I take from those guys. But these
guys have been great as far as being open minded
and learning different ways of doing things that they've probably
done in the past.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
Communication that defense is so important. We've seen it what doesn't.

Speaker 8 (06:36):
Work and in line back through A really huge part
of that is that something you really stress, especially this.

Speaker 9 (06:41):
Time of year before you get Yeah, we stress it
and we take a lot of pride in it. We
talk about it on all three levels. But in our
room it's it's oftmost importance. It's life or death, you know,
really to us, and the guys embrace it. Know, on
a given play, if the communication wasn't good, it's it's

(07:03):
our responsibility and when you get it right, yes, So
just you know, going through the process, what really stood
out to you about Jack Kaiser and you know what
he can maybe bring to the table on and what
have you seen working with him so far? Jack Kaiser
first and foremost is super high level intelligence problem solver, communicator,

(07:30):
and by the way, he was able to still get
people down on the ground and and you know, be
athletic and be a high quality football player. So that
combination is is not a given. So he also did
it on the championship team, so it you know, what
he was able to do during this time there was

(07:50):
impressive and I think it translated to what we do
in our league.

Speaker 8 (07:54):
Absolutely, it's the adjustment then obviously everybody's new right now,
kind of getting acclimated and.

Speaker 4 (08:01):
Learning your group and you play.

Speaker 5 (08:04):
It's been a lot of fun.

Speaker 6 (08:06):
I think one of the things that I value as
a coach is the relationships. You know, That's why I
originally got into coaching. It's you know, eventually they tell
you got to stop playing, and for some of us
that's longer than others. One of the things that, like
I said, I kind of cherish with that feeling in
the locker room that you had, and as a coach

(08:28):
it's not quite the same, but.

Speaker 5 (08:30):
That's as close as I could get.

Speaker 6 (08:31):
So it's been great getting to know guys. It's been
great spending time with some of the guys outside of
the building and really getting to see, like who they
are as a person and watching this group coming together,
but it it's a fun group. But they know how
to work, so they make it really easy when it's
time to get out there on the grass.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
Are any veteran players that you kind of lean on
a little bit to help you kind of working out
exactly how the same.

Speaker 9 (08:55):
Group is going to come to do.

Speaker 3 (08:57):
We got great bets, you know.

Speaker 6 (08:58):
I mean, Eric has a wealth of ex experience and knowledge.
Obviously d ham odd, but adding him to the room smooth,
adding him to the room kind of josh. Everybody has
different experiences and everybody's got a little bit different play style,
a little different skill set. But the one thing that
I love about the vets is like they're very open

(09:19):
to helping the young players, right and I and I
think it's important as a coach to remember that that
player to player learning is really important and sometimes it's
going to mean maybe even a little more coming from
a VET than a coach, which is okay. I certainly
have learned a lot more from players than they've probably

(09:41):
ever learned from me.

Speaker 10 (09:45):
Nice to meet.

Speaker 8 (09:46):
Let's let's continue with smooth since I talked to him
the smooth thing, and of course not of her, not
six seven years now, but I know.

Speaker 4 (09:53):
He mentioned, of course, oh yeah, how much have you
been stumping?

Speaker 2 (09:58):
Maybe drop and see their about that relationship?

Speaker 6 (10:01):
Well, maybe bringing it back to Jacks, I think whenever
you can bring a player into the room, one of
his character and.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
His certain of his ability.

Speaker 6 (10:15):
And his experience and mix that with the familiarity, I
think that's really important.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
I think that he knows what he's getting with me.

Speaker 6 (10:25):
I certainly know what I'm getting with him, and a
lot of the players are familiar with him, so that
was really an easy transition. I would say the room
probably welcomed him with open.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
Arcs, as did I.

Speaker 6 (10:36):
So as far as like dropping any hints, I certainly
stated my case of why I thought he would be
a good victuation.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
Why Jacks, about why are you here?

Speaker 11 (10:47):
What was your story to end up here?

Speaker 6 (10:52):
I just felt like this was a really good opportunity.
When you looked at the roster, where you look at
the division, when you look at the staff that coach
Colin was putting me down there, it was really an
easy choice for me to want to be here and
be a part of this.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
How did you end up here?

Speaker 8 (11:09):
How did Jacksonville have his job come up from where's
the connection?

Speaker 7 (11:12):
How did you Anthony Campanelli. Yeah, we worked together at
Boston College and we really only worked there for a year,
but I knew him when I was coaching at the Giants.

Speaker 12 (11:27):
He was a high school coach in New Jersey.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
And so.

Speaker 12 (11:33):
He would reach out and see if he could come
to OTAs or come to preseason camp, or you know,
if I was maybe speaking at a high school clinic
in New Jersey, he would come.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
So I met him back then. But then we actually
worked together at Boston College just for one calendar year,
and then he went on to University of Michigan, but
I stayed in touch with him, and then the same
thing analyst traitor recording him In no way I respect more.

Speaker 10 (12:01):
Than Anthony is just to.

Speaker 7 (12:04):
A very genuine human being, I will say that for sure.

Speaker 13 (12:07):
And so anyways, when he had this opportunity, he reached
out to me and asked me if I'd be interested
in something like this.

Speaker 4 (12:13):
And of course I was so much of this uh
job situation. Itout relationship grey.

Speaker 8 (12:21):
It all is knowing you can trust him exa here
and excit. It's kind of obviously it's the first time
he's been a dependive coordinators to.

Speaker 13 (12:29):
Kind of see that because you come to get Yeah,
I'm not shocked, and I was mentioned as somebody right
before you came by is uh.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
You know, even when he was at BC, you know,
super like passionate and uh and a very good football coach.
But when I I came back here.

Speaker 13 (12:48):
You know, being here, I don't know, maybe eight.

Speaker 14 (12:50):
Weeks and uh, you know, the nice thing is he
has been around outstanding defensive coaches in the National Football
Brian Flores, Big Bangio, Jeff Hafley, and so in the
time I've been here, even like I say.

Speaker 11 (13:08):
Like the first three weeks here, I was like, oh,
this guy has been paying attention and his football and
he was scott rocketed, you know, and it is awesome
and not shocking, but it's just actually, I mean, none
of us were like that at Bouston College.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
You know, that was ten years ago and we were
still you know, going through our careers and we thought
we were smartest. I'll get out back then.

Speaker 14 (13:34):
But no, in the time I've been here, it's.

Speaker 1 (13:40):
Impressive to see how much Anthony has grown from X
and O strategic you know stuff.

Speaker 7 (13:48):
He's He's outstanding a lot.

Speaker 4 (13:50):
Of players say that you know he's higher energy, but
you know what you're gonna get with coaching camp.

Speaker 8 (13:55):
And I feel like sometimes when the staff changes, it's
hard to get the buy in right away.

Speaker 4 (14:01):
But do you feel like there's the buy in the
players already?

Speaker 13 (14:03):
I do, And and even just informally, like players have offered.

Speaker 15 (14:10):
Feedback like that, I'll s I'll just.

Speaker 13 (14:13):
Say this again, this is sup sounds super corny, but
so we have meetings every day with the players, right,
you know, installations.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
And.

Speaker 1 (14:23):
No way two days go by where I I don't
actually get choked up because He'll get wound up in
the meeting and.

Speaker 13 (14:30):
Start getting the players going. And I'm like, I'm thinking
my to myself as a pla, if I was a
player sitting in that meeting, like I would be.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
Ready to jump out of my chair and run through
a wall.

Speaker 13 (14:42):
And but for him, it's totally just just rolling off
his lips.

Speaker 15 (14:46):
It's not even like you know, premeditated or anything. He's uh,
you know, he does a fantastic job in front of players.
I've told him that he knows it and and it
but it for him, it's it's not even a chore.

Speaker 7 (14:57):
It's just it's just him.

Speaker 15 (14:59):
You know, he comes from a great background and he'll
he'll he'll tell you and brag about that, but you know,
he's he's just got a great foundation as a human
being and he knows.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
What's right and wrong and what toughness means.

Speaker 15 (15:11):
And yeah, he he'll be in a h head coach
in the NFL.

Speaker 10 (15:15):
So they the guys has the ability to make a play,
and I think his uh, his ability to go and
make a play, it is trying to energize its though. Yeah,
really the whole organization, but really the defense. The play
made the other the other day at practice and I
I was looking at the sideline on video. I'm like,
you gotta see this reaction, you know what I mean?

(15:36):
And that's what we're looking for. I mean, they think
anytime you can make a play on defense like that.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
It's gonna energize the whole team.

Speaker 10 (15:42):
And I think that that's what he's gonna, you know,
gonna bring to the table.

Speaker 4 (15:47):
To get a Oh.

Speaker 10 (15:48):
I think we're all excited because again we didn't know
what it was gonna be. All we know is that
we watch the tape on defense and makes place. We
will watch the tape on offense. He makes place and
that's what he's gonna bring to the table. And I've
said this a couple of times now. When they do
that in high school, and they do it at a
high level in college, they normally bring that to the

(16:08):
to the the professional level.

Speaker 8 (16:10):
And because you don't get him in practice every day,
do you like some of his natural ability it shows
through just because they don't.

Speaker 4 (16:19):
Not with you guys every single day, which.

Speaker 10 (16:20):
When he's out there just the fall field that yeah,
I I I think I think we all see that.
I mean, he may not know it all the.

Speaker 3 (16:27):
Techniques that we have it thus far, but.

Speaker 10 (16:31):
His ability to change the reaction I mean, uh, the
turning run to locate a ball, to to defend the
ball with people around him. I've again I've set it
in the past, fifty to fifty balls are really not
fifty to fifty balls when he's out there, I mean
it kind of tilts to him and uh, there're and that's.

Speaker 3 (16:52):
Part of the reason why he's here.

Speaker 8 (16:53):
What do you feel like it's kind of evolving into
housing us opsibility or.

Speaker 4 (16:58):
He'll be prim.

Speaker 10 (17:08):
Oh yeah, I think we'll get a better understanding of
what it's gonna look like as we get into training
camp and uh, get through those first two or three
weeks in training camp, whereas he's got a pretty he'll
have a pretty good foundation on offense, and then we'll,
you know, hopefully we'll get him a little bit more
on defense and now uh we can use him in

(17:29):
the spots that we need.

Speaker 8 (17:31):
So if you have a a a good mix on
the secondary does better in presence. But also a lot
of you there with versatility, is that.

Speaker 4 (17:38):
Excited for you to have?

Speaker 10 (17:41):
Well, I mean you you just look at our our
team right now. You know, Jarian was primarily over a
nickel last year and now what we've tried to do
is move him around a little bit, give him a
chance to play some some corner even with uh Jordans.

Speaker 3 (17:54):
Jordan's for the most part his career has been basically
at the nickel position.

Speaker 10 (17:59):
But Jordan, we're gonna have to put you outside every
once in a while just to see where see where
you're at as far as that is concerned. So there
are some guys with some versatility that way, and those
are the two main dudes that we're gonna probably move
around as far as the the corner cover kind of
guys are concerned. You know, you know, Trace for the

(18:19):
most parson outside guy and and and that's probably his
best spot. And then Buster's probably more of an outside guy.
But this those other guys can move around a little
bit for us. What do you think, h I I've
been pleasantly surprised with you see, he's great athlete.

Speaker 3 (18:35):
He's got the size, he's got speed.

Speaker 10 (18:37):
Who are still working on and I guess it has
come up a number of times today and you know, yeah,
we gotta get the ball skills or or catch the
ball a little bit more. But he's been willing to
put in the work. He's done a nice job in
our meetings. He's been a nice job in practice. I'm
hoping hopefully he'll have a great.

Speaker 3 (18:54):
Season for us.

Speaker 8 (18:55):
You feel like you have a good competition in the room,
Like I feel like your group is pretty competitively. Uh.

Speaker 3 (19:01):
Yeah, you know what, you know what I I do?

Speaker 10 (19:03):
Uh And I've been on a number of the organizations
in the bass. I think we've got a nice little uh,
A group of guys that are okay Poles are going
out and and playing winning football. Jordan, He's this a
guy that's he's helping.

Speaker 3 (19:18):
Us with his experience.

Speaker 10 (19:19):
Yeah, you know, we've been Eric at the safety position.
He's helping them with the experience, and so we we've
we've got a nice little niche.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
I mean, there was two guys here the last year Giant.

Speaker 10 (19:30):
That's all this trade that we're young dudes, and now
I'm we're anticipating those guys growing in this this second.

Speaker 4 (19:36):
Season when you look at how cool is it how
jack drafting is that?

Speaker 3 (19:43):
Again?

Speaker 2 (19:44):
Oh?

Speaker 10 (19:44):
You know, he he very Uh me's exciting. I mean
the guy comes in he obviously he wasn't he wasn't
playing that Florida state in some of these other spots.
But you can see that this guy's very well. He's
capable of playing at this level and playing at a
high level. So we are excited about I actually got.

Speaker 4 (20:02):
To say, down, oh is that right about what type
of person he is? Okay, listen, I've never.

Speaker 10 (20:08):
Heard you say, I mean really when you when I
came into the organization and not knowing a lot of
these guys personally, all these guys from all these they're
good dudes. Uh, I don't see any any guys come
when I come to work. I don't see guys with
you know, I said this and fass you know, raising

(20:29):
their you know, sucking their teeth, glowing their eyes or
doing any of that kind of stuff. These guys are
good dudes. These guys are pros, pros, and he'll fall
right into that same mode. Now he's gonna be brought
up the right way.

Speaker 4 (20:39):
I'm sure he's never been for anything work.

Speaker 3 (20:42):
Well, not so far here. Yeah, what do you seek
from Caleb?

Speaker 8 (20:48):
Obviously when maybe ask him to play different positions.

Speaker 10 (20:50):
In the well, well, I know Caleb is basically like
a nickel whatever that is. And really right now he's
focusing them mostly on the safe at the safety position.

Speaker 3 (21:00):
So right now that's where we're that's where we kind
of see him.

Speaker 10 (21:04):
