I'm so grateful to share it allwith you right here on Oh, Baby,
the podcast created for pregnantmoms, preparing for their first
hospital birth.
Let's get started.

(00:46):
let me ask you, what do youthink is the number one reason?
Most moms quit breastfeeding.
If you said low milk supply, you're not alone.
Most people think that that'sit, but that's actually not the
real reason.
Most moms start breastfeeding.
It's actually pain.

(01:07):
Pain is the real reason.
Painful latches, crackednipples.
Toe curling pain every time thebaby latches.
Well, that's just simply enoughfor any new mom to say Nope.
I am not doing this.
But here's the good news pain isfor the most part preventable.

(01:29):
And in this video, I'm going toshow you exactly how to make
sure you don't end up in thatsituation.
So stick around because at theend, I'll share the number one
breastfeeding mistake that leadsto pain and how to fix it fast.
So you've probably heard someonesay, well, breastfeeding kind of

(01:52):
hurts in the beginning, but youjust got to push through it.
Ah, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrongbreastfeeding should not be
painful now.
A little tenderness.
Yes.
That's normal.
Especially in those first fewdays.
While your body is adjusting, but sharp burning or cracking

(02:13):
pain.
That's a sign that something isdefinitely off.
And in most cases, it comes downto just one simple thing.
The latch.
So, how do you fix it?
Let's go ahead and break itdown.
The reason so many moms quitbreastfeeding is because their

(02:34):
baby is latching too shallow.
When that happens, all thepressure goes straight to the
nipple and ouch, it's super, super painful.
Here's what you want to doinstead.
A deep latch.
That means that your baby takesin more than just the nipple
into their mouth.

(02:55):
You want their mouth to be wideopen, covering more of the
areola, not just the tip of thenipple.
But what if you're doing all ofthis and it still hurts?
Well, let's talk about thebiggest mistake moms make that
leads to pain and how to fix itfast.

(03:17):
A lot of moms tell me my baby islatched, but it's still hurts if
that's happening.
Chances are your baby isactually slipping into what we
call a shallow latch.
So if you notice pinching orpain Be sure to break the latch
and reposition them.
Now, I know what you'rethinking.

(03:38):
How am I supposed to know how todo all of this right before my
baby arrives?
And I'm so glad you asked.
Let's talk about it.
The best way to make sure thatbreastfeeding doesn't hurt is to
simply learn how to do it beforeyour baby is here.
As a matter of fact, here's alittle secret.

(03:59):
You don't have to wait untilbirth to learn how to
breastfeed.
In fact, most breastfeeding momswho are successful, learn how to
breastfeed before their babyarrives.

what comes next?
That's one of the biggestquestions that I get from new

(04:41):
