I'm so grateful to share it allwith you right here on Oh, Baby,
the podcast created for pregnantmoms, preparing for their first
hospital birth.
Let's get started.
Microphone (TONOR TC-777 Aud (00:47):
15
weeks pregnant.
Wow.
You're officially in the secondtrimester.
And let me tell you, things areabout to get real interesting.
You've got a little gymnastthat's flipping around in there.
Your bump is probably startingto make its grand entrance.
And did somebody mentionedsomething about food cravings?
(01:10):
I mean, what is really going onin that belly of yours?
is it normal if you suddenlycan't stand the smell of your
favorite perfume?
Let's break it all down becauseweek 15 is bringing some
surprises that you certainlydon't want to miss.
Microphone (TONOR TC-777 Au (01:28):
All
right.
So what's baby up to this week?
Oh, nothing.
Just growing at lightning speedat 15 weeks.
Your little one is about thesize of an apple or an orange,
which is about four inches longand get this.
They're now practicing theirbreathing movements, even though
(01:48):
they're still floating inamniotic.
fluid.
Their lungs are starting to getready for the outside world.
And
that to me is just absolutely
amazing.
Oh, and another big milestone.
Those teeny tiny bones in theirears are forming, which means
that your baby can start to hearmuffled sounds.
(02:11):
That's right, your voice, yourpartner's voice, they're
starting to recognize them.
So, if you haven't startedtalking or singing to your belly
just yet, now is a great time tostart.
Even though it might Feel alittle silly science shows that
babies actually respond tofamiliar voices after birth.
(02:34):
And yes, you officially have abuilt in audience.
So go ahead and belt out thatfavorite Beyonce song of yours.
They're listening.
Microphone (TONOR TC-777 (02:45):
Okay,
mama, let's talk about you.
Your body is doing some wildthings right now, and I know
that you've got questions.
So let's just back this train upa bit and let's start from the
beginning.
First up, energy boost anyone?
If you've been dragging throughthat first trimester exhaustion,
(03:07):
you might finally be getting tothat second trimester glow.
Thank you hormones, but don't besurprised if you still have
moments where you need a napbecause pregnancy is a lot of
work, okay?
Microphone (TONOR TC-77 (03:23):
Another
thing that might catch you off
guard, your skin.
Some moms get that pregnancyglow, while others start dealing
with pregnancy acne or drypatches.
Trust me, this is all totallynormal.
That's just your hormonesplaying games again.
So just try to keep yourskincare simple things like
(03:44):
gentle cleansers, fragrance, free moisturizers, and say it
with me, lots of water.
Also, if your belly is startingto itch a little, it's probably
because your skin is starting tostretch.
So grab some belly butter andstart moisturizing now because
your future self will absolutelythank you.
Microphone (TONOR TC-777 A (04:06):
Now,
we can't forget about cravings,
right?
Ooh, those cravings.
Tell me in the comments, what'sthe weirdest thing you've been
craving so far?
some moms are suddenly obsessedwith pickles, and others want
all the sweets.
And then, there's the wild onesthat start craving dirt.
(04:29):
Mm hmm.
I said it.
Dirt.
It's a real thing, y'all, andit's called pica.
And it means that your bodymight be low in certain
nutrients like iron.
So, if you find yourself havingcravings for things that aren't
food, talk to your doctor ASAP.
Microphone (TONOR TC-7 (04:47):
Alright,
let's talk about breathing.
Did you know that how youbreathe now can actually help
you breathe during labor?
Deep belly breathing helps tostrengthen your diaphragm.
It lowers your stress hormonesand even helps with digestion.
So here, I want you to try it.
(05:09):
Inhale deep through your nose.
Let your belly rise nice andhigh and then slowly exhale.
Do this a few times a day andthank me later when you're
pushing that baby out like achamp.
Microphone (TONOR TC-777 Au (05:24):
All
right, now I want you to
remember this around this timeyour blood volume is increasing
a lot to support your baby.
And so that means that your ironlevels need to keep up.
Low iron can make you feel extratired or dizzy.
So Make sure you're gettingenough from foods like spinach,
(05:45):
bread, meat, beans, Or if yourdoctor recommends an iron
supplement.
Microphone (TONOR TC-777 A (05:51):
Now,
if sleep is starting to get
uncomfortable, now is the timeto grab a pregnancy pillow.
Your body is changing.
Your hips are shifting andhaving that extra support for
your belly and legs makes allthe difference.
Plus you can use it postpartumfor nursing support.
So, it's a win win.
Microphone (TONOR TC-777 (06:12):
