their rich mineral water.

water when you werepaddleboarding.

So, back to the minerals.
Oh, okay, so yeah mineral wellsis known for what they call
crazy water.
So the story goes that back in1881, a woman known at the time
to suffer from some type ofdementia would sit by the well
and drink the mineral water.

And that's not the same thing as women suffragette.
For those of you who don't knowthe difference in the meaning
of the words suffer, the womansuffered.
You didn't even get that, didyou?
Anyway?

Well, I didn't get in the context of any kind of
conversation that we were justhaving.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
Yeah, you said woman and suffer, and my mind said
women suffragette.
I'm just okay anyway.

in your brain.

Okay, so back to this history.
Okay, in 1881, a woman who wasknown with some type of dementia
all right, she would sit by thewell to drink the water and
people slowly started to noticethat that crazy old lady was no
longer crazy anymore.

Less crazy than before.
The well became known as theCrazy Well and thousands of
people began to hear the storiesand they started flocking to
mineral wells.
Don't mean they were bringingtheir flocks.

I mean, they may have they may have, because that's
how he originally tested thewater was with his cow flock.
He was really stretching ittoday, okay.

They started flocking to mineral wells to drink this
magical water.
The people were going, yes.

Yes, so there's this other guy, mr Dismuke, and I'm
sure that I'm.

Mr Him, he was told by hisdoctor that there was no cure
for his ailing stomach.
All right, but, he went tomineral wells and started
drinking the water, and he wasrestored to health.

Yes, so in 1904, he founded the famous mineral water
company.
So they began to sell anddistribute the mineral water.
They distribute and sell crazywater.

And people are still coming and we happen to be some
of those people.

So take a road trip when you go, so you can bring home five
gallon containers of the goodstuff, just like we did.

that when you visit the CrazyWater Hotel, you're going to
find some cool shops.

It's Crazy Water Hotel, yeah,because the hotel's not so crazy

It's really cool.

of mistakes if this was the normright.

Well, you've come to the right place.
That's what I hear.
Okay, we're gonna have you trythe waters.
We have four different kinds,five in total, counting our
fizzy water that we have.
I'm just gonna start y'all offwith our number one.

Okay, alright, so this will get rid of our
rheumatism.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
And dementia, and dementia that's right, yes,
Reverse osmosis of our numberthree.

Speaker 6 (05:31):
So we just went in and we took out as many of the
minerals as we could.
So we just leave a tracemineral.
So that's going to be just yourpurified drinking water and
that's our number one.

Okay, so this is just quote-unquote.
Normal drinking water.

So, Lynch, he was concernedabout the taste, so he had his
cattle first.
Make sure it was safe.
And then, they started drinkingit and got rid of their
rheumatism.

So is this similar idea.

Most of the wells back from the early 1900s and
the late 1800s especially wereshallow wells and that's where
you find the number four,mineral water, which is more
mineral rich.

So that's probably why they were getting such quick
benefits because, all thoseminerals are in that more
shallow layer, the deeper it's,not so much the deeper you go
but there's different pools,where the two is like kind of
the middle layer.

from the three wells down theroad.
Only three wells open to thepublic right now.

Yeah, so you can fill gallons and up and they fill it
for you.
So it's not so much like apublic space where you go and
everyone fills up their water.
It's kind of service.
So they'll fill it for you.
They do a lot of five-gallonjugs over there.

People come from all over to get their bottles filled
up and then take it back homewith them.
Use it for everything, I guess.
So that's really cool.
That's what we're gonna name.

Dr Pepper, we have, like acherry we could do cherry,
vanilla, hibiscus.
We've got lavender, raspberry,strawberry, blackberry, mango
vanilla, caramel, coconut.

A lot of people get the raspberry or the blackberry
one.
We can mix them and we can addan extra pump to make it pretty
sweet too.
They're light.

It's kind of like a LaCroix.

That's a bunch of stuff.

Yes, it is so, and a heads up the sulfate can act as
a laxative in higher doses, soyou have to work your way up to
drinking crazy waters.
Number threes and number fours,uh-huh.
Start small and you build upand your body will acclimate and
you can start drinking more ofit.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
Yeah, it hasn't affected me that way.
Thankfully, it's been great,yeah.
So, speaking of building thingsup, we saw a lot of model
trains during our visits toMineral Wells, did we not?

Speaker 2 (19:08):
We did, and actually they played a big role in
getting the water to differentparts of the country back in the
day, those little model trains.

Speaker 1 (19:16):
I had no idea, wow, I mean, I was impressed, really
impressed, with what they had,but I had no idea that they did
that so.

Speaker 2 (19:22):
The model trains model.
What used to happen back in theday.

Speaker 1 (19:26):
Yeah, With what they did with model trains apparently
.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
And it's not like what we can do today.
So check this out.

Speaker 4 (19:36):
When the waters were so popular, people would want
our water like all over thecountry.
But water is really heavy soit's expensive to transport, and
so they actually built a placewhere they would condense the
water down to just the minerals,and so they called them crazy
crystals, and so they would putthem in these little boxes, put
them on a train, and then theyship the boxes of crystals and
then you just rehydrate it byadding the water back into it.

(19:56):
But that doesn't exist anymore.
No, they don't do that anymore.
Yeah, we have much moreefficient ways to ship, and
actually we do have people.
We have famous, famous athleteseven that instead of drinking
Gatorade, they will have ourwater shipped to them and
they'll drink our water becauseit has all the same benefits
without the dyes and the sugarsand the minerals forced into the

(20:17):
water.
So, yeah, super cool.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
That's so fascinating .
I wish they'd bring those back.
That would make it way easierto transport when we fly
overseas, and such right, Right.
So hey, not only did we takethe waters internally and
mineral wells, but we also didmineral baths.

Speaker 1 (20:33):
We took the water.

Speaker 2 (20:35):
Yes, we did, rory.

Speaker 1 (20:37):
tell us your experience and thoughts about
the baths well, it's somethingthat that came to my mind after
I'd finished my bath, so I'llstart backwards.
Okay, we, I was trying to findwhere the wells are that we get
the water from, because you hadbeen filling our things up our
five gallon things and I hadn't,and so we drove all around town
and then we came back afterlooking at houses a lot of
wonderful historic homes in thein the town, and so, uh, we

(21:01):
parked was during the bathduring during your bath.
Oh okay, so we parked and I waslike he took his bath and then
my.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
I took mine, she took her bath, yeah.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
So we parked and I was and I asked, uh, brandon, so
we parked and I asked brandon,where is the well that she fills
up?
And he's like right there.
And I parked in front of it andI said, oh, and that's the
bathhouse.
So it's really cool because thewell is right there.
The bathhouse is essentiallyconnected to where you get your

(21:28):
water and stuff, and theneverything started making more
sense in my brain.

Speaker 2 (21:33):
Well, that's good, that's good but it was really
nice.

Speaker 1 (21:35):
Uh, I don't know if you've ever had a mineral bath.

Speaker 2 (21:39):
It was, I think, our second official one in a bath
house probably I don't rememberwhere the other was well, we
went to the blue lagoon iniceland right, and so that was a
bath house that was outsidenatural in the waters right, I
mean we've done like hot springs, and then well, we stopped at
that one, at that one place, andstayed in the hotel and we took
the waters there.

Speaker 1 (21:59):
But this was that was my only other time, but it was
really awesome.
They draw the bathtub for you,which means they put the water
in the tub, right?
They?

Speaker 2 (22:06):
run the water in the tub and it's just like a normal
looking bathtub with like jetsin it.
Well, you've got your own room.
Yeah, it's a private room witha bathtub, so you've got your
own private bathroom, bathtub,sink it has a toilet in there
too.

Speaker 1 (22:17):
They supply towels, toilet.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
all that because you know when hot water and I mean
you're there, so you tend tomake water when you're in hot
water, so anyway.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
so there's a toilet there, which is nice.

Speaker 2 (22:26):
I think it was really nice, but you don't take a bath
in the toilet.

Speaker 1 (22:30):
Well, I didn't Right Mozzie, our cat does sometimes,
but I did not, and so no, it wasgreat.

Speaker 2 (22:40):
They have jets on the On the sides of the tub.

Speaker 1 (22:41):
They have jets in the tub and so you push this little
button, the jets are on for 20minutes and you just lay back
and enjoy the ride.
And they also had.
They also had essential oils.
And so she said would you likean essential oil in your bath?
And I was like well, yes, Iwould Thank you very much.
So she asked what I would likeand she offered me different

(23:02):
ones and I said I think I'll gowith the rosemary, because
rosemary helps invigorate andawaken your senses and I don't
know some other things, and itmakes you hungry too.
So you know a good rosemarymineral bath.

Speaker 2 (23:16):
That's because you love rosemary on your potatoes
and stuff.
Yeah, I like rosemary.

Speaker 1 (23:20):
Rosemary olive oil is really wonderful on a baked
potato.
I'm just saying yeah.

Speaker 2 (23:26):
That's why it makes you hungry.

Speaker 1 (23:28):
Yeah, so it made me hungry smelling the rosemary,
but it was really great.
Oh, it was very nice, justrelax.
And she did tell me, take iteasy.
It can be overwhelmingsometimes if you've not done
this before, but I was totallyoverwhelmed in a good way, so it
was not a problem and I lovedit because I'm such a bath
person.

Speaker 2 (23:50):
So I was like in heaven and it was just nice in
the middle of the day to justsit there and be able to have a
soak.

Speaker 1 (23:54):
Well, and you did some extra soaking earlier in
the day as well.

Speaker 2 (23:59):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (24:00):
But you'll be hearing about that in a couple of

Right.
