I'm Alexa.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Of course I'm Rory, and today we are sharing our
must-have items for a travelwellness kit all of the
essentials to help you feelgreat while exploring.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
If you guys listened to our episodes with Brooke
Shuneman of Her Packing List orthose of you ladies who have
taken the course, brooke talksabout different little kits that
you might take with you on theroad.
That's also kind of what we'retalking about.
Here is your kit for wellness, and we're going to share what
ours is.
We talked a lot about healthyhabits in our previous episode,

(01:10):
so we're just building on thatand we pretty much bring things
to support all of those thingsthat we just talked about in the
previous episode, right?
So we are going to maybe sharesome brands or kind of how we
practically implement some ofthose things.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
Whether it's immune boosters, self-care items or
sleep savers Sleep saver Lookingforward to that one.
These are our go-to travelwellness must-haves.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
I could use some sleep right now, but you guys
are awake because you'relistening to us and we're
keeping you awake.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Yeah, that's right See our energy is contagious.
Wideness, awakeness.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
All right.
So our travel kit we talkedabout hydration in the previous
episode.
We're going to kind of combinehydration essentials with some
self-care musts, because, in myopinion, things that are going
to make me feel like I'm doingself-care are also things that
are going to hydrate me, becausehydration affects your skin,

(02:10):
your eyes, your brain, everything your energy.
It's everything.
So I bring I have a collapsiblewater bottle.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
That's funny.
You said your brain and yousaid I bring up, said my brain,
and I have a collapsible brain.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
That's where I was.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
That's what my brain heard.
All of that.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Right, right.
You probably perceive it thatway.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
Sometimes it feels collapsible.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
All right.
Well, my brain is just fineright now and it's cold but
collapsible water bottle.
And then I have my cleancanteen thermos and we have an
affiliate link with CleanCanteen, so we'll include that
in the show notes.
You can help support the showand buy your Clean Canteen
through us through our link youdon't really buy it through us.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
Clean Canteen, clean Canteen, clean Canteen.
Try and say it 10 times fast.
Clean Canteen, clean Canteen.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Clean Canteen Clean Canteen Clean Canteen Clean
Canteen Clean.
Canteen we also bring, like ourelectrolyte packets.
So again we've mentioned eBoostand we love the no sugar.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Emergency.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
These I have them in my hand the immune support.
They're just, they go in water.
But what's awesome is theseimmune crystals that emergency
has that you don't even needwater and they're like Pop Rocks
.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Listen.
Yeah, that's kind of weird.
She's like totally shoving themicrophone in her mouth.
You can hear the snap andcrackle and pop of the immune
crystals no danger at all, there's not, they're really good
.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
If you like pop rocks when you're a kid, of course I
love them.
You have to be probably olderthan 30 to know about pop try to
not do it when you're talkingon a microphone and trying to
throw your throat back.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
Throw your throat back, throw your head back, yeah
, and open your throat.
So I hear it.
I know they can hear it.
Okay, yeah, nice, that'sawesome.
So that's eBoost.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Actually that's emergency crystals.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
That's what I said.
That's emergency crystals.
There's herbal teas, coconutoil can be a moisturizer.
So that's what I said.
That's emergency crystals.
There's herbal teas, coconutoil can be a moisturizer, so
that's, and, of course, multiplehandy thing to carry yeah,
because coconut oil can smoothyour hair.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
It's an eye makeup remover and even my cats like it
is a little treat when theytravel with us.
So it's an all-purpose or.
I'll take coconut oil and or anall-purpose balm, because a lot
of bombs you can also use onyour hair and skin and your lips
.
Balm, yes, yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
Face mist, face mist.
We've really enjoyed face miston long drives in the car or on
airplanes, when you get all dryand everything Psst, psst.
A little face mist there I useit all the time.
A little travel size mistressMm-hmm.
And I found.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
I finally found a little mist bottle and it has
like the perfect spray.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
So now I just like refill that one.
Yeah, me too.
Yep Love that, so we mightbring an additional little
moisturizer.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
Oh, and what about a tea?
What about, like a Sandia Peaktea?
Ooh.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
See, you don't want me to mention it, do you?
I do want you to mention it.
Okay then.
So Vigabond Teas, vigabond Teaslink in the show notes.
Yep, we have a Sandia Peak Teathat is a delicious watermelon,
hibiscus, and it has all ofthese herbs that formulate your,
that help support your adrenals.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
Yes and help with stress.
Yes.
And the effects?
Yes, the effects of stress onyour boo day.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
Yep, yep.
All right, roy, let's talkhealthy snacks.
That's another thing that webring, and so usually the night
before or the morning of, I tryto get all of our fresh fruit
and veggies from the fridge andinto a travel-friendly format.
So I might have gone groceryshopping and realized, oh, we're
going out of town this weekend.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
Yeah, that's more than once happened.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Yeah, and so sometimes I might have more food
on hand than I should.
But you know what I don't wantto come home to a fridge full of
wasted food and wilted veggies.
And the whole reason you buyveggies is so that you have them
, so you eat them right so okay, just buying your veggies and
letting them wilt in theirfridge is not going to help your
budget or your body, so youhave to actually eat the veggies

(06:04):
.
So I go in the kitchen, I makesure everything's washed and
prepped so that it's in travelfriendly edible form yes and she
likes to eat that.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
So if she buys too much food then I'm not a big
breakfast ride when I get up,but then she's like you got to
eat all this before we go.
Oh my gosh, are you kidding me?

Speaker 2 (06:23):
I know it's all healthy, but I got to make him
eat, so a trip is often a greatexcuse to eat our veggies,
because it's there it's in thecar.
Right, you don't want to carrythem around and they're going to
be the most perishable, so youwant to eat those first.
So that's kind of how we workit at home.
We eat what's going to expirefirst and we eat that, and then

(06:44):
we kind of work down from there.
So that's we also kind of carrythat little habit on the road
with us.
So if I need something cold, ifI have lots of cold, yeah, so
if I need something cold.
If I have lots of cold, I willput ice in a Ziploc, you know,
and then I'll put that.
I have these little, like youknow, lunchbox bags, lunchbox
bags.
People have those insulatedthings.

(07:05):
We have a couple of those andso we've used those.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
Sometimes I'll just use a shopping bag.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
That's when we're on a car trip, yeah, and sometimes
I'll use a.
We have like an actual cooler,so, depending on how much food,
we might just put some ice in aZiploc.
Another thing that you can do,which is great for long road
trips, is freezing your waterbottles in advance and then you
put that in with your food thatyou want cold and then, when
you're done, you have some icewater to drink when the ice has

(07:34):
melted.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
I like to take food bars sometimes, but more than
that I like to take mixed nutslike a mix of homemade mix of
nuts.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
So raw nuts are like the best for you, right?

Speaker 1 (07:49):
Organic raw nuts are the best ones for you, but the
roasted salted tastes so muchbetter.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
So I have recently been roasting our nuts and
that's been a really good thing, except for the time when I
caught our oven on fire.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
But other than that, if you don't Flames leaping from
the oven.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
Y'all, I got to finally use a fire extinguisher
for the first time.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
Oh, a huge mess in the kitchen.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
It was craziness.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
Extinguisher powder everywhere, so don't set your
oven on fire when you'reroasting your mix that
extinguisher stuff all over them.
That was awful, we don't knowwhy.
So she made me still eat them.
Oh, I'm not gonna eat them.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
They taste terrible, okay well besides, they were
black, so keep an eye on nuts.
But I just this, I just rory.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
Pay close attention to your nuts.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
Just lay them on a baking sheet.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
Don't leave.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
Don't leave, and I was in the kitchen when the fire
started.
It's not like I wasn't payingattention.
So, anyway, let them roast inthe oven and then you can salt
them.
Those are, that's to me.
That's the best way.

Speaker 1 (08:52):
Sometimes I just like to get a snack when I stop for
gas.
Something about that.
If it, if it energizes you, yeah, that's okay.
Like, sometimes it's excitingto have something different, so
that's all good.
So don't limit yourself ifyou're tired and going to drive

(09:12):
dangerously.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
And I found that's kind of the only time we need
snacks is if, like one of us, isdriving and starting to get
tired.
Obviously, our rule is to notdrive tired.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
We do not.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
Yes, that is our rule if you're just not fully tired
yet or whatever.
But you know that, like some, eating something while you're
driving would be a littlepick-me-up that's.
That's when you would havesnacks.
I've noticed that we reallydon't need snacks on the road
not as much as you'd think.
We have meals and you're fullright and you're sitting around
all day and so really like thatcan be a pitfall for someone to

(09:47):
go.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
Hey, we're going on a road trip, let's buy all these
chips and let's buy all thisprocessed food.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
And that's not your excuse to now eat bad.
Just because you're traveling, you don't have to get snacks,
but if you do, like, I likehaving healthy options on hand,
and then I'm not forced to buywhatever's at the gas station.
I'm not at their mercy.
I'm like, hey, I have thesehealthy, fun things that I enjoy
.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
We've been trying to reduce.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
For sure.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
How many we bring.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
Yes, I also have what I call my little sleeping bag,
so that's a little kit in itself.
You won't fit in that Right, Idon't actually climb into it.
But we mentioned we takesometimes some melatonin, no
sugar gummies.
We've kind of done less of thatand we've like, I think lately
we've moved over to like a, Ithink because they changed the
recipe.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
They just don't taste right anymore.
They must have done something.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
Maybe they changed to some kind of fake something I
don't know, I and I thinkmelatonin is different on my
body right now, so for me.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
But you're supposed to take it, not just put it on
your body right, right, right, but simply sleep is another.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
Like that's an over-the-counter, non-addictive
one supposedly z-quill isnon-addictive so if you're
needing, like, some kind of help, but you don't want a
prescription, sometimes yougotta get sleep some right, and
so sometimes something like thatcould be a nice little thing to
have on hand.
Previous episodevious episode wementioned lavender essential
oil.
So I had these little trialessential oils and you can buy

(11:12):
refillable essential oilcontainers on Amazon.
So yesterday I just filled twotiny, tiny essential oil bottles
and that's what I'm taking withme on this trip that I leave
for today.
So I've got one that's likelavender and sleep helping and
then another one that is like agerm fighting essential oil.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
So I have those with me because I'm going to be
around a bunch of crowds on thisnext trip.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
Another kind of helpful thing that we take with
us are earplugs.
I have those in my sleeping bag.
I do have an eye mask in mysleeping bag, but like a
headband that I put on around myface, like when I'm washing my
face, and I've learned that Ican just use that as the eye
mask and then I'm not packingtwo things, yeah, right.
So we want to minimize as muchas possible.
I also have found snore ease, which Rory sleeps better when I

(11:58):
don't snore.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
And I don't have the apnea.
We found these snore easestrips in Finland because we
love going to their pharmaciesand seeing, like, what do they
have that we don't have?
But I have found these snoreease strips on Amazon and
they're like a breath strip thatgo on the top of the roof of
your mouth and then they havethe.
What are these ones?

Speaker 1 (12:20):
Breathe right, yeah, breathe right strips.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
So those could also be.
Those don't stick to my skinbecause I usually, like, have so
much moisturizer on my skinwhen I go to sleep, but anyway.
So those are things that helpRory sleep.
If you want to put some ofthose in your kit, right, yeah,
please, y'all, I'm the only onethat gets sleep with him, okay,
so for immune support, we havetalked about the immune crystals

(12:45):
and Vitamin.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
C Z yeah, all of that .

Speaker 2 (12:48):
But in addition to not only supporting our immune
system, I noticed Rory and Ialso take a lot of supplements
with us vitamins.
So sometimes Rory will justtake his vitamin cabinet and
just shove it all in a bag ifit's a road trip and he'll just
take that, and even if we'reflying, sometimes he'll just
take all the vitamins?

Speaker 1 (13:05):
Yeah, I'll take the essentials.
He takes the full bottle.
Well, yeah, sometimes I do,Sometimes I don't.
It depends on how long the tripis.
If we're going to two months inEurope, then yeah, I take the
full bottle.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
What I do is I have these little small containers
that used to hold like saladdressing and they were from the
meal kits when we did green show, so they give a nice flavor to
the.
No, these are clean, but Ireuse them for all kinds of
things.
I have one that I put on mylittle hair pieces.
Hair pieces, my like bobby pinsand hair clips.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
You put a bottle that you put on your bobby pins.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
No, I have this plastic bottle with a lid that's
small and that I use one ofthose Used to be a kitchen item,
but now I use it, I almostburnt my hand.
We have candles in here.
I use it, though, and I put mylittle hair accessories in there
.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
I see you put your hair accessories in there.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
Yes, Okay Okay.
So I have that, but I also usethose thingies for my vitamins
and I know what each of thevitamins are and what they look
like, what colors they are andall that.
So I just mix them all into onething.
I don't need to know what'swhat, because mostly I'm taking
them just, you know, one a daykind of thing with a meal.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
We have also traveled on a different subject here.
We travel with fitness bands, love them.
I've noticed that I'm not greatat working out at home.
Never have been.
I always went somewhere to workout when I was, you know,
playing sports.
I would go somewhere to workout, yeah.
But you seem to do pretty wellbringing fitness bands with you
in a hotel room and stuff likethat.
Yeah, a yoga mat, foam roller, these kind of things.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
Well, I don't.
I've never brought a foamroller, but they do have many
ones.
My physical therapist torturedme this past week with a thin
roller and that would fit in asuitcase.
Okay so, but yeah, usuallyresistant bands.
I used to bring even littletiny weights, but I'm trying to

(14:53):
reduce and be good.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
Well, you can do a lot with body weight.
Yeah, absolutely Didn't youbring a mat to Europe.
This last year.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
Yes, and y'all can catch our video on Instagram
where I show how I did that, because forever I have never
been able to find a way to bringa mat where I can work out.
So I came up with a way, soy'all will have to check out our
Instagram post about that.
Now, on the first aid sideright With we're talking

(15:19):
wellness.
So sometimes it's a good ideato travel with a first aid kit.
So if you're traveling for likecamping, bring like a full on
first aid kit right, becauseyou're going to need all the
stuff.
But for the most trip, thetrips we're doing are like
mostly business trips and justvisiting family, so I only
usually just put in a band-aidor two in my wellness kit yeah,

(15:41):
no, the only thing I'll have inmind is I won't even, I don't
even generally care band-aids,carry band-aids.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
It might have something for uh, pain in case
like an ibuprofen you get toomuch for me.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
And then I'll give it to you so that, no, I carry
something Too much more thannormal.

Speaker 1 (15:58):
No, yeah, I'll carry something like an ibuprofen or
something better than that, Likeyou know, because they say it's
not so great for your gut.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
Right, right.
You don't want to be in thehabit of that.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
Because I've gotten in the situation where I needed
something like that a good, bitafter driving for 16 hours or
something.

Speaker 2 (16:14):
And I think we've talked about this on a previous
episode.
But I think in future Europetrips we'll also take like a
Dayquil Nyquil kind of but atablet would travel much easier.

Speaker 1 (16:23):
At least kind of get you through that first.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
You just, you know, you just want to take this stuff
that'll get you through untilyou can get to a pharmacy or
something like that.
But the trip I'm leaving ontoday, I'm going to be walking
all week on my feet nonstop.
I will be bringing Band-Aids onthis trip.

Speaker 1 (16:40):
And shoes.
I will be wearing shoes, thiswill be part of your wellness.
Yes, that will be part of mywellness.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
Yes, I'm definitely taking two pair and I'm taking
changing insoles so that I don'twear out.
You know, keep it all fresh andkeep my feet fresh, and it
should help them.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
Most people don't think about journals being part
of a wellness routine, but youknow they can be.
If you tend to stress a lot inlife and think through things
like all the time and you'retrying to go to sleep, you can't
go to sleep.
Your mind's going crazy racing.
Maybe a journal could help.
Yes, or you have nonstop ideasand things like that, wonderful
ones you can put on your phone, even though you're not supposed

(17:15):
to look at that before you go tobed.
Right, still, you could, youknow.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
But when you're journaling for like just general
wellness, it is moretherapeutic to actually do pen
to paper than it is to type iton the phone.

Speaker 1 (17:27):
So take your Apple pen with your iPad.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
So that is a good, helpful, helpful thing.
And then for me, just like myBible on my phone, I mean that
is spiritual wellness and havingthat little tool.
I love the app that I use.
It's called YouVersion.
Rory uses that one as well andit has so many tools within it
and little devotionals andprayer things and all of these
things that kind of help justguide the journey, and so that's

(17:53):
super great.
I love that.
Yeah, I love those.
