女书，一种由女性创造、仅在女性之间传播的中国文字，在最近几年通过商业化和大众文化产品，成为了小众流行符号。女孩子们将它做成纹身，印在衣服、包包和本子上，传递姐妹情谊的暗号。
女书曾流传在中国腹地、具有至少数百年历史，并在过去几十年里慢慢开始被重新挖掘。但迄今为止，它的起源依然是个谜，规范也并未统一，它的使用充满了矛盾。作为一种本来用于女性之间发声、疗愈、结盟和彼此支持的文字，它在过去和现在都不断在被争夺——在男权教化者和女性的反抗者之间。
