这个短语可以理解成：problems that someone has had in the past that they do not worry about because they happened a long time ago and cannot now be changed:

“过去的事情已经过去了，不必再纠结或计较”，确实有点像中文里面的“过眼云烟”或者“翻篇了”；跟我们以前学习过的let bygones be bygones也可以理解成近义表达。

 

A: “I'm sorry for what I said last year.”

B: “Don't worry, it's water under the bridge.”

A：“去年我说了那样的话，我感到很抱歉。”

B：“别想太多，早就翻篇了。”
