After spending some time there, he departed and went from one place to the next through the region of Galatia and Phrygia, strengthening all the disciples. 24 그런데 알렉산드리아 태생으로 아볼로라는 유대 사람이 에베소에 왔다. 그는 말을 잘하고, 성경에 능통한 사람이었다. Now a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was an eloquent man, competent in the Scriptures. 25 그는 이미 주님의 '도'를 배워서 알고 있었고, 예수에 관한 일을 열심히 말하고 정확하게 가르쳤다. 그렇지만 그는 요한의 세례밖에 알지 못하였다. He had been instructed in the way of the Lord. And being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things concerning Jesus, though he knew only the baptism of John. 26 그가 회당에서 담대하게 말하기 시작하니, 브리스길라와 아굴라가 그의 말을 듣고서, 따로 그를 데려다가, [하나님의]'도'를 더 자세하게 설명하여 주었다. He began to speak boldly in the synagogue, but when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately. 27 아볼로는 아가야로 건너가고 싶어하였다. 그래서 신도들이 그를 격려하고, 그 쪽 제자들에게 아볼로를 영접하라고 편지를 보냈다. 그는 거기에 이르러서, 이미 하나님의 은혜로 신도가 된 사람들에게 큰 도움을 주었다. And when he wished to cross to Achaia, the brothers encouraged him and wrote to the disciples to welcome him. And he said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” And they said, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.” 3 바울이 다시 물었다. "그러면 여러분은 무슨 세례를 받았습니까?" 그들이 "요한의 세례를 받았습니다" 하고 대답하니 And he said, “Into what then were you baptized?” They said, “Into John's baptism.” 4 바울이 말하였다. "요한은 백성들에게 자기 뒤에 오시는 이 곧 예수를 믿으라고 말하면서, 회개의 세례를 주었습니다." And Paul said, “John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, Jesus.” 5 이 말을 듣고, 그들은 주 예수의 이름으로 세례를 받았다. On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 그리고 바울이 그들에게 손을 얹으니, 성령이 그들에게 내리셨다. 그래서 그들은 방언으로 말하고 예언을 했는데, And when Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking in tongues and prophesying. 7 모두 열두 사람쯤 되었다. There were about twelve men in all. 8 바울은 회당에 들어가서, 석 달 동안 하나님 나라의 일을 강론하고 권면하면서, 담대하게 말하였다. And he entered the synagogue and for three months spoke boldly, reasoning and persuading them about the kingdom of God. 9 그러나 몇몇 사람은, 마음이 완고하게 되어서 믿으려 하지 않고, 온 회중 앞에서 이 '도'를 비난하므로, 바울은 그들을 떠나, 제자들을 따로 데리고 나가서, 날마다 두란노 학당에서 강론하였다. But when some became stubborn and continued in unbelief, speaking evil of the Way before the congregation, he withdrew from them and took the disciples with him, reasoning daily in the hall of Tyrannus. 10 이런 일을 이태 동안 하였다. 아시아에 사는 사람들은, 유대 사람이나 그리스 사람이나, 모두 주님의 말씀을 듣게 되었다. This continued for two years, so that all the residents of Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks.
