It feels good, good news, happy stories every day on
the program Kaal and Go.

A homeless student beat the odds by winning a full
ride scholarship to college despite living in a shelter and
working two gruelling.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
Jobs six days a week.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Mcoa Perez just graduated from Kelso High School in Washington.
He managed to earn high grades thanks to his strong
work ethic and time management despite lacking a traditional home.
He finished school with a three point nine to seven
GPA and lots of college credits. In his senior year
of high school, the hard working young man won a
full ride a full, entire everything paid for scholarship to

Washington State University.

Wow Wow overcame a lot shout out to a WGNTV
for this story. But this woman is a legend. Her
name is Dot Kane and she's been a fixture at
Luriy Children's Hospital in Chicago for nearly three decades as
a hospital storyteller. So every Wednesday, patients and parents gathered
for a week dose of Dot. A studio crew made

sure the whole hospital could see her clowning around with
the kids because they have a little TV station in
the hospital and it broadcasts so that the kids can't
go to the story reading, they can watch in their rooms.
It's a sensitivity the hospital environment where everybody is going
through some blooney.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
This woman said, some boloney. She knows about that.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Her own daughter was born with a complex medical condition,
and they saved her life a few times, she says,
so she kept coming back to the hospital to tell
more tales to all those who needed a little bit
of cheering up. But after twenty seven years, she read
her last story and is ready to start her next
chapter retirement. She says, I'm grateful to be allowed the
space and the kids and the families.

It's an honor. But storytime is not over for good.

A new voice will take over the weekly show, much
to the delight of patients to count on a little
humor as they heal. Dot Caane twenty seven years reading stories.

Yeah, what a legend? Yeah, girl, what is there? She's
a storyteller for kids. She does stand up comedy kids.

I've seen her there as a handle Oh my god, Yes,
I think teaches kids stand up comedy that's ab durable.
Oh my god, I should take less lessons.
