name is Dot Kane and she's been a fixture at
Luriy Children's Hospital in Chicago for nearly three decades as
a hospital storyteller. So every Wednesday, patients and parents gathered
for a week dose of Dot. A studio crew made

sure the whole hospital could see her clowning around with
the kids because they have a little TV station in
the hospital and it broadcasts so that the kids can't
go to the story reading, they can watch in their rooms.
It's a sensitivity the hospital environment where everybody is going
through some blooney.

This woman said, some boloney. She knows about that.

Her own daughter was born with a complex medical condition,
and they saved her life a few times, she says,
so she kept coming back to the hospital to tell
more tales to all those who needed a little bit
of cheering up. But after twenty seven years, she read
her last story and is ready to start her next
chapter retirement. She says, I'm grateful to be allowed the
space and the kids and the families.
