Speaker 1 (00:00):
I got to start out with such a sad story.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Actress Shannon Doherty filed to dissolve her marriage with her
estranged husband, giving up options for spousal support, one day
before her death.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
So the Beverly Hills.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Nine O two one zero alum passed away July thirteenth
at the age of fifty three after a really long
battle with cancer, and on July twelve, she petitioned to.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
Dissolve her marriage.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
She noted that the parties had entered into a written
agreement regarding their property and domestic partnership rights. And perhaps
the saddest part is that, prior to these filings and
her death, she voice concerns that her ex was waiting
out her death to avoid paying.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Her spousal support. Oh wow, which is so sad.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
But yeah, so one day before she called it breaks
my heart.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
Let's move on to a hen and read it. And
Angela Jolie been working on theres for fifteen.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Years, right, so yeah, right, that French vineyard, Well could
you every.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
Time if you want to get it done, you can
get it done. But no, you know, it's always the
French vineyard holding things up always, Yeah, which is why
mine is in a trust vineyard which is right next
to seacrests. Mine's a little smaller than his. Great it's
actually almost impossible to find, but it's there. But he's
hit a trust. So like anyone I marry someday can't

(01:12):
have my French vineyard.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
No, no, no, I mean I always say, marry someone
you travel similarly to, and then also never buy a
French vineyard with your spouse.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
Yeah, no exactly. I'm telling you. You got a silo
of those things.

Speaker 4 (01:24):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Yeah, it always ends badly. Okay, so move over, Fergie.
Because singer Ingrid Andres may now have the record for
the worst national anthem of all time. She's saying it
yesterday in Texas for the MLB ahead of the home
run Derby, which I was like, what is it that
thing where they make little cars and race them.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
I didn't know what the I didn't know. I didn't
know the MLB had like their own All Star thing.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
They have a whole All Star game. Yeah, and they
hit home runs. It was very exciting last night.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
I thought the MLB players were making little cars and
racing them.

Speaker 4 (01:58):
Oh, because they do listen to.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
This, like I want to believe that they were putting
the wrong audio in her ear or something something, And
by the way, I can't do this, so don't. It's
not even like let's just get that out of the way,
like I can't sing anything, certainly not the national anthem,
but I might be able to do better than this.

Speaker 5 (02:20):
It's fine, sweet, we're so gay.

Speaker 4 (02:30):
This is real.

Speaker 5 (02:31):
Apparently, Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god,

(02:56):
she kind.

Speaker 4 (02:56):
Of ate you. We have you, please, we need all
right hand.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
Around, like what what just happened?

Speaker 1 (03:37):
You interviewed her last year, didn't and I saw her
perform and she can actually sing.

Speaker 4 (03:41):
That she can't.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
She can't, she can't, And so there had to be
something technical going.

Speaker 4 (03:47):
On, Jason. Honestly, honestly, there had to be.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
I mean, like if Whitney Houston's in yours were we're
not working, she could still do out.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
Here's Burg.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
The Cavati.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Bergie, She's right, Bertie said, I.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
Had my homeson there, and all the players are trying
to even straight face.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
No one asked you to make it your own.

Speaker 6 (04:53):
Oh boy, oh oh, And who did Rosie o'donald have
a bad one too, Rosie had.

Speaker 4 (05:05):
Like people thought this was just disrespectful. Yeah, I thought
you was disrespectful to him. She would not like that,
and people got really mad. This is my dream to
do the national anthem.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
You would crush all those three.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
I think so, Oh you, I think so.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
I don't know if i've heard this one before USA
versus Canada two thousand and four, Caroline Marcel.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
That sounds pretty good compared to forgot.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
Oh no, she just stopped, no girl, oh no, oh no,
and she just forgot the words and basically just stop.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Oh no, oh no, Oh my god, I'm gonna have nightmares.

Speaker 3 (06:04):
The national anthem is not the time to make it
your own. No, no, it's just not the time. Jesse
McCartney had a disastrous one. I'm a big Jesse McCartney guy,
Like what happens never.

Speaker 4 (06:20):
Please brow chefs brist the worst. Yeah, oh, I mean
it's not great, but geeze is this is where he gets?

Speaker 3 (06:42):
Man?

Speaker 4 (06:47):
I mean, I don't know. I don't know guys that
or this Jesse Jesse slaves as far as I'm concerned.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
Oh r starts out.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
Not too bad.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
Yeah, it's terrorism, that's the charge.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
Something going on.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
Yes, she's gonna have to speak for what she's done.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
No, no, no, okay, even she had ascile reaction to herself.

Speaker 4 (07:28):
Oh my god, what is his noise geting out of
my mouth? Oh Lord?

Speaker 2 (07:33):
In happier news, Amazon Prime Day is here, lots of discounts, tech,
beauty vacuums which we all need.

Speaker 4 (07:40):
I feel like more.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
It's forty eight hours. Let's see what else?

Speaker 2 (07:44):

wop with her Amazon Wild Amazon Prime Day deals. As

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
