Kaelin's Entertainment Report: Former Bachelor Contestant Lost Her Battle With Cancer

Speaker 2 (00:04):
That just started out with some sad news because former
Bachelor contestant Haley Merk has lost her battle with cancer.
Haley was on season twenty one with Nick Viil when
he was the Bachelor. News was announced on her Instagram
page following her battle with leukemia, which she publicly revealed
that she had last year. In the post, her loved
ones talked about how they were broken hearted to see
her leave them after a really courageous fight. Also said

her determination catapulted her past every timeline the doctors gave
her until her final moments surrounded by those closest to her.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Perhaps the saddest part is.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
She did document this all on social and at one
point she announced that she was leukemia free, but weeks
after that the doctor said that it has spread and
she died last Friday.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
She was just thirty one, So rust in peace.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Halsey said her fans are meaner to her than any
other people.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
On the planet.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
Fans I kind of feel it on a smaller level,
she admitted in a post on Tumbler. Of all places,
the abuse at points has made a regret coming back
after taking time.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
Away to deal with her health issues.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Remember after that single that she dropped the end, she
said she was lucky to be alive, confirmed that she
had lupus and a rare T cell disorder. She said,
not speaking for all of you, of course, but it
used to be like a minority that were awful to me,
and now it seems like a majority only have stuck
around a chime in occasionally with their opinion of how
they hate me or how awful I am.

She said, it's really.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Hard to engage in this space that's devoid of kindness, sympathy, patience,
or human decency, which I feel like a lot of
us feel like the internet is now. She basically said,
I almost lost my life. I'm not going to do anything.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
It doesn't make me happy anymore.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
And she said throughout her sickness and her journey, all
she could think about was coming back, and she's really
upset that things took a turn that way.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
So be nice to Halsey and be nice to everyone, please,
I'm sick of it.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
The talented men and women of USA Gymnastics had someone
very special on hand to provide support during the Olympics.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
And he's going viral now.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
A four year old Golden Retriever named Beacon is their
first therapy dog and he even got his own credentials
for the Trials and the Olympics. They hired him to
comfort the gymnasts and staff before they competed. And he's
now going viral online. I mean he's the Goodest boy.

(02:23):
That's what they called him. That's his title. And yeah,
he was on hand at the Olympics. And everyone wants
to say hi to Beacon.

Now we got to get a gold medal too. You
better get a gold medal. Listen, it works. Yeah, they're
called right, you know, well Beacon. You guys got to
look up a photo of him. He's adorable.
