Speaker 4 (00:18):
So, Matthew Perry's final words before he died from the
acute effects of ketamine and found in his hot tub
had been made public, so newly released court documents published
on Friday detail that Perry reportedly asked his assistant for
help administering the drug three times. So apparently he said
shoot me up with a big one. That was the
last words. That isn't that horrible? I know, I know,

(00:41):
and so of course you know as I just said not.
Topsy revealed that he died as a result of acute
effects of ketamine back in October. Now The Friends creator
Marta Kaufman spoke about Matthew's death and was asked what
can we do to remember Matthew? And this was nice,
saying two things come to mind. One of them is
to donate to drug treatment centers to fight these and
then also the second is to watch Friends and remember

(01:03):
him not as a man who died like that, but
as a man who was hilariously funny and brought joy
to everybody.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
So that was a nice sentiment there.

Speaker 4 (01:09):
I thought, by the way, Matthew Perry would have been
fifty five years old today.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
It would have been his fifteen fifth day. I know,
August nineteenth.

Speaker 4 (01:17):
I don't know how to really transition to this, but uh,
Paris Hilton said she's safe after a fire broke out
on the set of her latest music video.

Speaker 2 (01:25):

Oh that's right, we had to sit down, that's right,
right on. Well, somehow became two on one, but yeah
it was two one. Still a good time. Yeah, no,
I wouldn't had hurt time. I had a great time.
She was everything I hoped she would be in more.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
That's great, awesome. So yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:48):
On Friday, she shared her social media that a fire
started in her trailer while she was filming a video.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Can I say the B word on there? I probably shouldn't, right,
I shouldn't do that.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
I don't know it now.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
It is the time to talk about it. Whisper It's
okay that.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
On that bleep academy. How's that de an academy? I
wouldn't get into.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
I'm also share you're a bad beat? Can you say
bad beat? I don't think. No, it's not. Now. It's
a great place. This is a great check. Yeah right now.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
She have meetings on the air all the time, don't
we ever?

Speaker 4 (02:37):
But anyway, she shared some photos of the damage, said
no one was injured in that fire, and she said
that the upcoming album, Infinite Icon, will be released during
your Fashion Week on September sixth, So that'll be her
first album since two thousand and six.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
I mean, very very exciting, right.

Speaker 4 (02:54):
And meanwhile, Simon Biles, she celebrated everything Olympics in sh
Cago and arrest.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Oh what no, go ahead, go ahead, go ahead.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
Oh.

Speaker 4 (03:04):
So she celebrated everything at a restaurant that had like
a special message and everything that I definitely cannot say
on the radio.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
I know that.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
So you checked out my favorite one actually is my
favorite one, but you can check that out Fredshiel Radio
dot com.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
Oh did she go to Maple and Ash Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
if if there's a restaurant in a few different cities
called Maple and Ash and may have a very signature menu.

by the way, you can't say that one, Shelley, don't
say that.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Yes, I know, I know, I know this much.

Speaker 5 (03:34):

to the Bears game to support her because her husband, right.

Speaker 5 (03:40):
She had a jacket for her husband, but it was
all Green Day packer stuff. I'm like, girl, I don't
care about your Burken bag, but I care about this.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
Like you cannot be doing that. No more, cannot come
around Solcial feel like that.

Speaker 5 (03:53):
Call that girl, call the one that makes some jackets
for Taylor's. Have you got one of those sites? You
need a Bears one?

Speaker 1 (03:58):
Yeah, you just got a Burken You can afford a
new with the right damn logo on it. Come on,
we love you man. Now you're in No, no, not,

Are watching Hard Knocks by Chances. Yes, yeah, my husband is.
Oh yeah, it's good. She was on it. She made
an appearance.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
I'll ask you.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
So my friend went to the Panthers game over the week,
and just to make sure we represent everyone listening to us.
The Panthers suck still, I think, and then the Bears
are we are we totally on board with Kaylen Williams
after that? I mean, he threw a couple really amazing passes.
But are we are we completely sold? Because I was
looking online and reading the comments and it seems pretty polar.

Speaker 5 (04:39):
I am one hundred percent sold on it, Like I thought,
like I feel like an a hole because I thought
Mike Strubisky and Justin Fields were great quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (04:48):
But like seeing Kaylen Williams, He's only played limited time.
But we we we got something special here for sure.

Speaker 5 (04:55):
Okay, And and thank you to those Carolina Panthers too,
because they made it happen.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Oh yeah, giving away all their picks and everything else,
you know.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
Yeah, it's true. All right.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
Well, Reveal cried on the air of the day that
Justin Fields was released, so now so he's come full
circle now.

Speaker 5 (05:12):
Yeah, I mean I still I still follow Justin Fields,
and my boy ain't doing so good over there. Him
and Russell Wilson are not doing so good over there.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
Wow.

Speaker 5 (05:23):
But you were very emotional that because I was invested
in Justin Field's I thought he was a good quarterback.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
I thought he wasn't a problem.

Speaker 5 (05:30):
But now watching the few stuff I've seen of Kayla Williams,
I'm like, you know, we got a legit quarterback here,
so oh yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
I love that.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
Yeah, I am on this.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
I'm on this band wagon.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
What are your thoughts on football? I?

Speaker 1 (05:48):
Uh, they're playing again? Yeah, got it? Okay, he decided
to play another season of the NFL.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
They did.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
Yeah, it started already. You thought you were hooked with
the Olympics. Olympics are over, but now it's on to football.
I mean, you are the sports guy. We need it.
Yeah yeah, yeah, someone needs to warn me when football
starts again. Well, it started, we're doing it.

Speaker 5 (06:11):
It's a pre season though, so you don't you know,
you just focus on the regular season.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Yeah, you're more of a regular. I know you were
taking a bit of a break after the Olympics. Understandable,
all right. Fret Schow Radio dot com, Fretshire Radio on Instagram, on.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
