Join me for another wild ride this year as we unpack issues and talk to trailblazing women who are paving the way for the rest of us. Let's do this!
A staggering number of young adults are still living with their parents. A Pew Research study puts the number at 57% for people age 18 to 24, and about a third of people age 18 to 34 live at home. These numbers haven’t been this high in the United States since the 1940s. The number one reason young people cite for returning to the nest is their inability to survive financially on their own. This return home can topple the family dynamic. So, what is the best way to create boundaries—financial, emotional, and otherwise when it comes to living with adult children? Should there be rules? You must work or go to school, contribute to the household chores, and pay rent. It’s not as easy as it sounds to establish and stick to these boundaries. Pediatrician turned parenting coach, Dr. Hope Seidel, returns to the show for this episode to walk us through best practices for welcoming adult children home while keeping your sanity.
