Hey, it's Dawn McGrurer, thebusiness growth coach. And welcome
to dawn of a New Era, thepodcast where we talk all things
health, wealth and happiness, and where founders share the good
and bad and ugly of being an entrepreneur.
So welcome to part one of ourminiseries for dawn of a New Era,
all about female empowerment. And the first one that we're talking
(00:24):
about is dismantling stigmasand empowering female founders. So,
data from the first half of 24highlights the need for really targeted
sport because the amount ofcapital going to male teams and founders
has surged to 86% whileinvestment in businesses founded
by women has dropped to just1.8. So it's always been a big mission
(00:49):
of mine through my podcast, dawn of a New Era, to really provide
actionable insights, inspiringstories and a sense of community
whilst addressing thesecritical issues that surround female
entrepreneurs and face us intoday's business environment. So,
earlier this year, I decidedto take my mission a step further
and bring a voice to allfemale business owners and founders.
(01:13):
And I started the Her PowerCommunity which has just launched.
Now, the whole ethos of thecommunity is about empowering female
founders to recognize theirlimitless potential and pursue their
ambitions with confidence. Now, the Her Power Community aims
to really reverse thesedisparities in female led businesses
(01:37):
by providing tools and supportand a powerful network for women
in business. So, as women, wereally need to start challenging
societal norms and dismantlingthese stigmas and fostering this
safe space where every womancan harness her inner strength and
think growth, but act withintent. We have just launched our
(02:00):
female founder lunches whichare going to be hosted in London
and Manchester with the coretheme being about where connections
flourish and growth isintentional. So we are seeing shifts
across the landscape forfemale led businesses with the recent
announcement from the UKFinance Minister Rachel Reeves, who
(02:23):
has endorsed a new initiativeaimed at directing more investment
towards female led founderteams. Central to this plan is the
establishment of a 250 millionfunds of funds. Plus the Invest in
Women Task Force was launchedin March this year by entrepreneur
Debbie Waskow and Barclaysbank executive Hannah Bernard. Now,
(02:47):
the intention was to create afunding environment for female entrepreneurs
by bringing a new pot ofcapital on stream while also encouraging
more women to actually becomeinvestors. Now, Debbie even went
as far to state that thefigures show that female led businesses
deliver a far better returnthan those managed by male founders.
(03:10):
And did you know that thereare relatively few women in senior
roles at VC funds and only 14%of angels are actually female? So
if we all pull together as apowerful community, we can change
this landscape and theattitudes to investment towards female
founders. So come and join theconversation and the community on
