(Transcribed by TurboScribe.ai. Go Unlimited to remove this message.) What's up guys?
Welcome to a brand new episode of the
fit women's with a podcast Buckle up because
today's episode is gonna be all over the
place to be completely honest I don't have
an actual topic or anything with the news
to bring to you guys today I just
want to do an old-school fit ones
with a podcast where we catch up because

(00:20):
I feel like I have a lot of
catching up To do with you and I
don't know I still like these episodes where
it's just you and me Chit-chatting over
a cup of coffee and I miss them
I feel like for the past several episodes
for about the past year I've really been
trying to maintain more of a professional sense
with the podcast in terms of like coming
with this particular topic and sticking to That

(00:42):
topic where it used to just be I
would come in here and talk about what
was going on in my fitness life Or
with fit men's weekly or answering personal questions
to you guys and I want to bring
that element back.
So today That's what we're gonna do.
We're gonna catch up because it was either
catch up or Bring back another episode from

(01:02):
the vault, which is what I did last
week because things have just been very crazy
around here It's not that I don't have
things to talk to you guys about I
just haven't had a chance to sit down
and Storyboard and anytime that you're coming to
the podcast or making a YouTube video You
want to obviously make sure that all of
your thoughts are laid out in a good
way that you can actually organize them and

(01:23):
bring a story to you guys that makes
sense and I just haven't really had time
to Do that and that is because there's
stuff going on.
So Let's just jump right into it.
First off.
We are moving gems So if you follow
me on social media, which I hope that
you do, please do especially on tik-tok
because I think I'm only around 25 Followers

(01:46):
short of finally hitting a thousand for years
I have focused on not Focusing on tik
-tok and it really only in the past
like four months I've been like, you know
what?
No, I'm gonna give this a little bit
more effort and play around with a little
bit more I like that platform because it
truly is just I come on here and

(02:07):
or come on there and do Basically little
mini podcast episodes.
I just talk post workout about answering questions
or topics that I'm dealing with with my
clients And it's been a lot of fun.
It's just not as curated which I appreciate
that in a very fast-paced world So
if you're not following me on tik-tok,
please do just follow trainer Kindle.

(02:27):
You'll find me over there So all that
to say is yes You will notice next
week The background of our space is gonna
be changing because we are moving studio locations
for the past year and a half I've
been running out a garage space where we
were really able to build out the perfect
place for us.

(02:48):
I loved it It was a great size.
We painted the walls black and really outfitted
it perfectly However, the place that we are
running from it's going on on the market.
So which is a good thing I'm really
happy for my friend who's selling her house
I think it's a really great move for
her but it obviously left us in the
position of okay Now what do we do?
We don't want to go back to running

(03:09):
a brick-and-mortar space if you are
new to the podcast.
I guess I should Kind of back up
a little bit, right?
Why were we running a garage to begin
with?
For over 10 years Dan and I owned
and operated a woman's fitness studio here in
Charleston Brick-and-mortar location and it was
fantastic.
And then the chaos of 2020 really made

(03:30):
us Change the way that we were running
our business and also look at things of
like, how do we want to scale?
What do we want our life to look
like?
Obviously 2020 changed it for some not great
ways as well It basically forced us to
close down the studio that we were running
but we still maintained That space as we
turn our attention more to online training and

(03:52):
educational videos But after a while I was
like, why are we doing this?
We don't need this space or pay thousands
of dollars Yes, multiple thousands of dollars per
month to be here for two to three
hours a day To film live workouts or
to film social media content so I was
like, let's save that money so we can
actually start putting together a marketing fund because

(04:14):
marketing is very very expensive and See what
other options that we have and we really
thought about different ways that we could go
about doing that We tried to look into
storage units, but apparently places in South Carolina
Do not let you rent storage spaces just
for fitness use you can only store things
there which makes sense But anyways, we were

(04:35):
able to find a friend who was willing
to let us Rent out her garage and
that worked out really well and that takes
us to where we are now that house
is going on the market and so My
friend's goal is to find a house That's
a little she's just downsizing a little bit
But she was like, well that house will
have a garage too and in an ideal
world Yes, we could plan for that.
But what if that space didn't work out

(04:57):
for us?
We couldn't put all of our eggs in
one basket hoping that that would come to
fruition So Dan and I started researching a
little bit more Seeing what else was available
to us and another one of our friends
and older clients Like not old as in
age older clients that had been with us
for a very very long time reached out
and said hey We outfitted our frog for

(05:19):
a home gym.
We don't use it very often We still
go to a gym as well Would that
space fit you so we went and checked
it out and you guys it is Perfect.
It is already painted this pretty Marbly gray
black color.
It already has gym floors in it It's
already outfitted with a lot of equipment that
we use like barbells and benches and boxes

(05:41):
So yeah, that's where we're moving to next
week the first week of October and I'm
very stoked for it We were able to
sell off the gym flooring that we had
in the garage floor as well as some
of our plates I just don't have room
to store those a lot of my dumbbells
and all of my kettlebells will come with
me to the new Space so we'll outfit
their home gym even a little bit more

(06:02):
and then we'll save some of our equipment
here Cuz Dan doesn't want to let go
of everything.
We do want to take some things with
us eventually when we move but yeah, that's
the plan and it's very chaotic because Dan
works a nine-to-five job And because
Kelly's house is going up on the market
at the end of the week or on
the this weekend She's really trying to pack
things up.

(06:23):
I want to be out of her way
for convenience for her.
So I am Packing up everything at the
gym today and Thursday to take to the
new space.
So that's been part one of the chaos
But I'm really excited.
I'm really excited to share it with you
guys so please make sure to follow me
whether it is on the tickety-tock or
Instagram those are the two that I am

(06:44):
definitely the most active with so follow me
on one of those and then say hi
If you're a new follower say, oh my
gosh, I'm finally following you after listening to
you on the podcast That would be great.
And then the second thing that's been taking
up.
Well 90% of our time.
This has been the most chaotic thing of
all is Putting together some new products for
you guys.
I talk about fit women's weekly live, which

(07:05):
is my online training studio I go live
two times a day with a 30 minute
workout and a 60 minute version of that
workout I film from start to finish of
every workout.
I push hard, right?
These workouts are not timed intervals like every
other online workout where it's 40 seconds on
20 seconds off no, these are full workouts
every workouts a little bit different and I

(07:27):
love it.
Filmmens weekly live is definitely my premiere training
program.
The community there is amazing We truly are
training partners but I also get to be
a trainer to all these ladies as well
and help them hit their goals and then
they help me hit my goals because I'm
forced to show up.
I'm forced to push myself the way that
I Need to push myself to see results

(07:47):
because I'm trying to push other women to
get the results that they want, right?
However, I've heard feedback I know that sometimes
people don't want to be part of an
ongoing membership or something like that They want
something that they can just purchase as a
one-time product also just kind of get
their toes wet a little bit and see
if my type of training is for them

(08:07):
or To help answer a specific problem that
they're having so after a lot of brainstorming
and a lot of trial and error of
getting things Done for the past six months
Dan and I've been working on a program
called ignite 30 It is a 30-day
program designed for busy women who aren't afraid
of a challenge who want to Get their

(08:28):
strength training and consistently who want to be
pushed to the level to get stronger to
get fitter to get leaner and faster But
they their schedule doesn't always allow it and
by that what I mean is I use
my special programming of to-do lists Where
every day so ignite 30 is gonna be
its own app Like it is an app
-based program and every day you'll open it

(08:50):
up and you'll see your to-dos for
that day But what makes this so special
and so unique is that you'll have the
workout that you're supposed to do the workouts
Were filmed and fit women's weekly lives.
So it is filmed from start to finish.
You just have to hit play But you'll
have your primary goal and that's the main
workout that I want you to do some
days It's a 30-minute workout.
Some days.
It's a 60-minute workout, especially on the

(09:12):
60-minute workout There's then also a busy
women's goal so that when life does get
in your way because it always does right?
Maybe you have to work late or the
kids need to be picked up from school
And that wasn't supposed to be the issue,
right?
Something happens or you have to wake up
early to run to the store I don't
know whatever the case may be something happens

(09:33):
that keeps you from Getting the workout in
that you want to normally you'd say man
I guess my workouts just not gonna happen
today But with ignite 30 it gives you
a backup plan So on those days where
you can't do the 60-minute workout There's
already a 30-minute workout version or even
sometimes a 15-minute workout version For you
to knock out instead that way making it

(09:53):
possible to do something when normally you wouldn't
and that's gonna keep you Accountable and it's
gonna keep you consistent because knocking out one
to two workouts per week Isn't going to
give you the results that you want You
have to do something small every day that
drives results and then on top of the
primary goal and the busy goal There's small
little fit activities to do throughout the day

(10:14):
as well or as you guys know you've
heard me say it before fit quickies where
it might be a Specific number of steps
that I want you to get or your
goal to get to or a specific exercise
Like let's do 50 push-ups today on
top of the workouts that you're doing Those
little things add up after time and the
cool thing about ignite 30 that I'm really

(10:35):
proud of too Is it's almost like an
interactive game as you mark things off because
it's a to-do list and you guys
know We love to-do lists and by
we I mean like women in general I
make a to-do list every day and
even if it's something that I've already accomplished
I'll still write it out just so that
I can mark it So you have all
these to-do lists and as you're marking
off your activities that you've completed that day

(10:56):
You get points and you build streaks and
then at the end you get a report
card And there might be a special prize
at the end of the 30 days if
you receive a certain grade on your report
card meaning that You accomplished a certain percentage
like, you know, like a grade of the
30 days Do I expect you to be
perfect with it?
No, are there days that you might forget?
There might be but I've done my best

(11:19):
to make sure that I'll send out a
little reminder of hey Don't forget to do
something today at least mark off one thing
on your list So I'm really stoked about
it, but it has been a lot of
work and it's finally getting released this week
I'm very very excited and we're starting with
an introduction Price, so it's only gonna be

(11:41):
$67 for the entire 30-day program But
as soon as it hits a hundred buyers
that price is gonna go up.
We're gonna get out of that introductory price
So if it's something that you're interested in
and you want to be the first to
know about it Just shoot me an email.
I can add you to our first to
know newsletter And so that you'll have first
dibs on it when it does come out

(12:02):
But you can also go check out Philmentsweekly
.com and see if it's already released and
I will put the direct link down in
the show notes when you guys hear this
It should be released.
But yeah, I'm pretty excited about it.
And that's only one product that's coming out
I have another one coming out that's gonna
be called the kettlebell clinic.
I've already filmed it I'm just now putting

(12:23):
the app part together and that will be
the next product So again for people who
want to participate want to get stronger But
being in some sort of monthly membership is
a little off-putting at least at first
These are great ways to get started and
at night 30 will be a 30-day
program I'm sorry, the kettlebell clinic will also
be a 30-day Program, but it's a

(12:44):
line for people who want to get better
at guess what kettlebells It's gonna walk you
through all of the fundamental elements of kettlebells
So learning hip hinge and swings and cleans
and snatches But then each of those also
has anywhere from two to three specific Workouts
to help you really zone in and get
better before you move to the next skill

(13:04):
So it is badass.
I've already filmed Like I said all of
the workouts for that and I am so
excited to get these programs out to you
So with both of them, you can do
them at home It takes a very little
equipment for ignite 30 All you need is
a couple of sets of dumbbells and you'll
be ready to rock and roll So if
it's something that you're interested in you can
go find out more link is down in

(13:27):
the show notes Let's see.
What else is going on?
Oh, we signed up for 50k I don't
remember if I talked about this on the
last podcast episode probably not I don't think
it had been released yet, but there's a
50k here called paintings wild and wacky 50k,
which is a 5k every hour on the
hour space play It's like an e-mom
but an hour and it's done for 10

(13:50):
hours I was had already decided that I
wanted to do this.
I was gonna do it as the full
50k do all 10 last by myself.
I've done it before actually I've done it
several times.
I've done it I think two times with
a partner.
I've done it two times by myself the
first time I did it I only got
through the first eight laps Not the first
I got through eight laps I couldn't do

(14:11):
the last two due to a knee injury
and then a few years ago two to
three years ago I did it again all
by myself successfully and it was amazing So
I've just been having the itch to do
something big and bold and hard And I've
really been working a lot on my running
lately More so than normal like increasing my
mileage and really feeling good And so I

(14:31):
decided that I wanted to do this But
then there's a little bit of a curve
ball thrown in there that Dan came to
me and said hey I got the email
because he's already he's also done the race
before wild and wacky how about we sign
up and we do it together as a
team and Who am I to not do
something fun with my husband?
Even if it means that I'm gonna be
taking my foot off the pedal a little

(14:53):
bit and not doing the full thing I'll
do at least half of it.
And yeah, so I'm excited.
So we're gonna do the 50k Wild and
wacky as a team as a partner.
I had mentioned today.
I'm like, okay I'll do it as a
partner, but I'll probably still run every lock
with you because I want to do the
challenge and He does not like that idea

(15:14):
cuz he's like no I want to do
this as a team I want us to
alternate.
I want to do it the right way.
And so right now That's probably what we'll
do But we'll see as we get closer
and see how he feels about his running
because he's not huge into running But I
know that this will inspire him to get
moving a little bit better and a little
bit more consistently with that But yeah, I'm
really excited to do it nonetheless because it

(15:36):
is a well put on event We don't
get a lot of trail runs here in
Charleston.
So this is kind of the highlight for
the trail running community So I'm stoked about
it.
I think it's sold out in something like
two hours, which is crazy It went live
at 12 p.m. A couple of weeks
ago and I immediately hopped on I think
I was on at 1201 Got us signed

(15:57):
up and I'm so glad that I did
at first I was like do I really
need to be this proactive with the registration?
And then when I saw how fast it
closed down, I was like, yep, surely did
So yeah, if you're ever in the Charleston
area, obviously this year it's already sold out
But put it on your calendar that in
September of next month registration will open up
and then definitely sign up for 2020 It's

(16:17):
a great cause it's a great event.
It's so passionate the runners there are so
kind It really turns into a tailgating event.
Everyone pops up tents and you hang out
for the day.
So I'm excited for it I can't wait
to do this with my husband And then
we always celebrate these really big races with
our favorite pizza place here in town Which
we don't go to very often, but we

(16:38):
always use big trail running events to go
back and visit.
So Yeah, so mellow mushroom, I guess will
be coming our way In March this event's
not till March, but it is on the
calendar But let me know if you think
should I still run every like they do
it so that if you're signed up for
the event You can technically run every single
lap that you want with or without a

(17:00):
partner So should I still run every lap
or should I do the handoff where I
do one Dan does one I do one
Dan does one does one The benefits of
that is if I have that full hour
to rest between each lap Obviously, I'm probably
gonna do some pretty decent times But Dan
is not a competitive runner.
So I've already talked to him and asked

(17:22):
him.
Hey, are you Gonna actually train so that
we can see how good we can do
and he said like no We're just gonna
do this for fun.
I want to train enough where I can
run five five K's But I'm not out
there trying to set PRS every time which
bothers me because I am very competitive But
obviously we are not like we are hybrid

(17:42):
training trainers I'm not out there to win
it, but I am out there to do
the best that I can so there's that
or should I Do every single one and
just try to get it for the mileage
So one is should I try to go
for pace or two should I try to
do it for mileage?
Let me know.
Let me know what you would do.
And then last but not least, you know,

(18:02):
I've been talking a lot about My sourdough
journey.
I am still loving it.
I make sourdough every week Even though I'm
not eating sourdough and I recently made If
you guys missed it go back and listen
to the podcast from two weeks ago Where
Dan's giving up alcohol for the month of
September and to support him I gave up
sourdough.
It's all about having self Persistence and self

(18:28):
-control So go go listen to that one,
but I did try a new Bread recipe
to me that Dan took to work to
his co-workers and it turned out So
good.
So even though I'm not eating it, I'm
still making it I also made a chocolate
loaf a couple weeks ago for a friend
of mine, too And that looked beautiful Dan
said it was really good.

(18:49):
So I'll take his word for it But
this recipe I've had a lot of you
guys ask for more tips on sourdough First
off if you need tips, let me know
and I can actually start putting together a
video but one source that I recommend is
I believe it's calmly and She's on tick
-tock her recipe is the one that I

(19:09):
most Regularly follow.
However for this bread recipe, it was from
Carissa Stevens Carissa is really big on Instagram
and tick-tock and her bread recipe I'm
just gonna say this out loud cuz I've
had a request write it down real fast
or make sure to come back to this
episode at around the 19 minute mark so
that you can write it down.

(19:35):
It's So you mix that together and then
you mix in a little bit of olive
or neutral oil I use a very light
olive oil and that's 20 grams.
So 20 grams of olive oil and Then
once you mix that together, it's 30 grams
of honey is what she called for I
only put in about 10 grams of honey
Because I've also heard that you don't want

(19:57):
to add in too much sugar When you're
first mixing in because it can kind of
affect your starter a little bit So I
only did 10 grams of honey and I
felt like that was plenty And then it's
500 grams of flour and 7 grams of
salt.
So just to repeat 325 Filtered warm water
150 grams of starter 200 grams of oil

(20:17):
and 10 to 30 grams of honey mix
that together Then fold in your flour 500
grams and 7 grams of salt and then
you're gonna do the classic Folds every 30
minutes for about 2 hours of 4 folds
total and then you want to cover it
Bake at 400 for 35 minutes uncover it

(20:39):
cook at 400 for an additional 15 minutes
So at the 400 that's actually a little
bit cooler.
Normally you do sourdough at 415 to 450
So to bake it at 400 was unique
to me but again, it turned out to
be amazing soft on the inside crunchy on
the outside an Amazing rise highly highly recommend.

(21:04):
So I told you guys this episode was
gonna be everywhere But I hope that we
just kind of get to catch up a
little bit Definitely again, make sure to follow
along the new gym journey by following me
on social media Either insta or the tick
tock the tick tock or onto I was

(21:24):
if you're interested in Ignite 30 It is

(21:46):
miss doing those from time to time So
drop your questions.
I want to go back to answering them
I hope to be able to get back
to doing the shorter Friday episodes soon But
I got to get my life in order
first All right, you guys.

Stuff You Should Know
Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
