Sonia Chopra, DDS, is a board-certified endodontist, TEDx speaker, Forbes contributor, author, endodontic instructor, and founder of Ballantyne Endodontics in Charlotte, North Carolina. Sonia became passionate about endodontics after a dental patient experience, where her pain was misdiagnosed, and the wrong tooth was extracted. It wasn’t until she was referred to a caring, thorough endodontist that she was correctly diagnosed, and a root canal saved her from excruciating pain. Now she’s on a mission to save teeth whenever possible.
She is the founder of E-School, an innovative, online continuing education course in endodontics that has trained hundreds of general dentists. She has trained dental residents at Atrium Medical Center in Charlotte, regularly speaks at professional events like the Association of American Endodontists and Women in Dentistry, and contributes to scholarly journals, podcasts, and media outlets for dentists. Additionally, she is co-founder of A Night for Smiles, an annual gala to support Charlotte-area dental health initiatives.
