(00:00):
Thank you for joining me, Dr. Grey. It's like it's always such a
pleasure to speak with you and talk with you. And I
love the fact that you are once again a part of the Health and Wealth
Expo. For those of you who are tuning in or who is
watching the replay of this, the Health and Wealth Expo, a virtual
summit, is taking place on February 22

(00:22):
from 11am to 4pm now, we do have a bonus session that's
going to be taking place from 4pm to 5pm but you have to upgrade to
the All Access Pass. Now that bonus session is going to be all
Things Funding, talking about grant funding because look, it's a Health and wealth
expo, right? So we are really trying to help you to
build your wealth. And it even goes beyond that. The health

(00:44):
piece of it is going to be all things nursing, talking
about how to the topics are going to include how to start IV
hydration business, how to start a legal nurse consulting business, how to
start a mental health practice as a nurse. Right. As a nurse
practitioner. And then we're going to have Dr. Ebony Gray's session
on government contracting, which I am completely

(01:06):
excited about to talk about tonight with you guys. And then we're going to have
the financial literacy piece that we all need to know about.
And that bonus session is just going to be the icing on the cake. So
we're talking about all of these businesses and how to start these businesses as a
nurse. We're going to give you the secrets of how to access that
funding that you need for these businesses. So I

(01:28):
say all that to say join us on February 22nd from
11am to 4pm and you can register at
healthandwealthexpos.com and for now
I want to get into and talk with Dr. Grey. She has
graced us with her presence and I am super
excited to talk to her. So, so thank you once again for

(01:49):
coming on. And I wanted to go live and share
with the listeners, with the audience and with the people who are going to be
registering and joining. I want them to hear from you. And I
think the first question that I well, no, maybe I'll hold off on that
one. I want to know, let the people know,
why have you agreed to once again speak

(02:11):
at the Health and wealth expo? Because Dr. Grey was actually one of our
keynote speakers at the the Live In Person
Summit at the national harbor in Maryland. And now she's coming on again
to speak at the virtual summit, like I said, which I'm excited about.
And you guys should be as well. So go ahead. I know I've said
a lot right now, so I'll stop and I'll let you have the floor.

(02:35):
So first things first, I'm super excited to be here with my favorite
doctor sister. Right. So thank you so much for
inviting me to your podcast, for inviting me to a join you.
I think it's important that we talk about how we met. Right. We met at
the Congressional Black Caucus annual legislative
conference. We both were vendors standing side by side,

(02:56):
and I saw the love and the support that everybody, the whole community
gave you. Right. As a nurse, so many nurses from
throughout the government specifically, that was part of the clientele
there. They all wanted rest. They were like, wait a minute, this
is perfect. I'm looking for how to transition from
nursing. So it completely ties back into

(03:18):
how people are transitioning now with everything that's going on with all
of the executive orders in the federal government. What next?
Right? What next for your life? So you and I connected,
we bonded. You said, I want you to come to my health expo. And one
thing that I'm very cautious of is saying yes
and showing up for my doctor sister friends. Right.

(03:41):
Because it's important for us to collaborate over competition.
Right. Collaborate, help each other to grow and to build
wealth. And I think it truly ties back into
what's going on today with all these executive orders in the
transition. What next? So that is what
we're going to be hitting home on for this conference is talking

(04:03):
about how the nurse, the medical
community can build. Right. Can get
access to these government contracts. What opportunities are
out there? Because guess what, no matter what's going on in the world, you know
one thing that doesn't stop medical care.
Nursing. Wellness, Health. Right.

(04:24):
Those are some, some key attributes and things that
the medical community can offer to the government. Suicide
awareness. Right. We don't want to talk about that. But guess what? Many
people are going to need those skill sets, those
distinct skill sets that only you have right to give. So
whether you're talking about offering services to the va, to

(04:47):
other hospitals, because every single hospital has procurement
opportunities, talking about offering it to the Department of
Defense. Right. All of our military troops, there's
so many opportunities. So I'm super excited to join
you at this expo to introduce people to all of the
possibilities and options to offer

(05:08):
your services to the community. Absolutely. You know,
and when you, when you talk about executive orders,
what, what do you have to say for the people who are
concerned about can, you know, doing business with the government? Because
you may have some people who may say, oh, well, you know, all of these
executive orders, they're taking away, everything they're taking away, and I'm going to say it,

(05:30):
dei, because apparently, and I don't know if you've heard this or what
you're know what your take on it is, and we can talk a little bit
about that, but some people are concerned about even mentioning
the word dei. But like I said, we'll get to that. But what
do you have to say to those people who are concerned about
not being able to do business with the government? First and

(05:51):
foremost, my black sisters in nursing rock, right? There is
no dei. It is the black women in nursing. Not
only do they deserve to be there, they're more than
educated, qualified, they have the experience
and they're here to stay. Right? Period. Period. I think
black women rock, period, overall, especially in

(06:13):
the medical community. But when we talk about dei,
yes, that's true, right. All of the DEI orders have been
rescinded, all the DEI policies have been rescinded. All of the
DEI workers. Right. Have been removed or
put on administrative leave. So what does that mean going
forward again, there's still opportunities for the medical

(06:36):
community. And I would say many people that have to transition
now, they're filled with a whole bunch of uncertainty, certainty,
right? They're scared, they don't know what to do next. Especially if the
government, if DEI was your life, that was your
life's work, how do you deal with the transition? So I'm
assuming that many should be

(06:57):
reaching for mental
health care, right. To possibly
say, what's my next. You gotta repeat that.
I want you to repeat that because I think you faded out a little bit.
And I want to make sure that everyone hears what you just said. You said
what they should be, is they should be doing.

(07:20):
Yet they should be pursuing. Right. Or seeking
mental health care. And even as leaders, right, as we're dealing with this
transition, you have to think about your people and how you're going to take care
of your community. Imagine people feeling unsteady. You had a
guaranteed a good government job for 20 years
of your life, and now you're facing unsteadiness. You

(07:42):
need to talk great mental health professional to
help you just figure out your next steps to help you process
all of these changes occurring right now.
Right, Right, right. So what I'm hearing is people
who are concerned about doing business with the government. They shouldn't be, basically,
because we're still needed, especially as a profession, as a nursing

(08:05):
profession in particular. And tell us a little bit
first. Well, no. So first things first,
let's talk about that part because people are concerned, well, how
do I still do business with the government? So speaking, and I'm
only speaking for the medical and the nursing community,
the government has already allocated their funds for all the way up

(08:27):
until September 30, 2025. So those funds
have already been allocated. The budget that you hear that's on
the table. Right. Is going to be the budget for
October 1, 2025, which is the 2026
fiscal year and beyond. So. So up until September 30,
2025, you already have the budgets that were approved.

(08:50):
Now. Yes, these executive orders have kind of thrown a curveball.
So some things may have transitioned, specifically the DEI
initiatives. But when you talk about maybe other contracts
like medical supplies or medical services, wellness
health, those should still be on the books. So you
still will go to Sam Gov and look and see if

(09:12):
there's procurement opportunities out there or
acquisition.gov, right? Look at, you can Google
federal procurement forecast and look and see
what acquisitions are forecasted for the rest of this fiscal year.
Right now we're in the second quarter, so you will look at fiscal year,
I mean sorry, quarter three and quarter four and just see what

(09:34):
opportunities are still out there because there is still funding there, there are
still contracts being allocated and there is still a need
for your services. So don't be discouraged. Don't fall into
the trap of just looking at Facebook news and the news
coverage. I want you to look at the official sources and don't
forget we still have contract opportunities locally.

(09:56):
So when you think about, we're both in Maryland, but think
about contract opportunities for your city, for your
state, for your county and local contract
opportunities even for the casinos. The casinos require healthcare
as well within their procurement portals. So look for those
local opportunities as you're trying to navigate and perhaps plan

(10:19):
for 2025. I love it. I love it. You
know, I don't want you to give away too much because they have to attend,
but I do. But thank you for everything that you just
shared. Why don't you highlight to just a little bit of what you're
going to be talking about during the expo. Just give the listeners
a little dose of what you're going to be talking about.

(10:41):
I am going to be giving you the step by step
guide to develop your strategic plan for
2025 and beyond so you can build your pathway
to millions so you're not worried or feeling insecure about
what's next. You are creating your government
contracting pipeline for success in

(11:01):
2025. So I am bringing the heat, I am bringing the
template. So you can write it down, plan your life.
Because we are building a cadre of millionaires
in the medical and nursing industry.
And that's where. And that's where I want you to go with it. Just
letting them, letting people know. Because I don't know if everyone understands, I think

(11:23):
there's a misconception of, about doing business
with the government and the fact that you're going to be breaking it down, giving
them step, step on what they need to do and how to plan is
absolutely, I think is invaluable. And I don't know if everyone understands
the value behind being able to reward, you know, get a
reward from these contracts. Can you share a little bit about.

(11:46):
And I know you shared this before, like what,
where you are with the funding, the amount of funding that you've
been able to secure during government contracts.
Yes. So my goal for 2025 and I'm looking
for partners is road to 25 million. So within
my first year of doing government contracting, I was able to

(12:09):
acquire over 10 million in contracts through
partnerships, through subcontracting and prime
contracting. So we're about to try to double that
and beyond to 25 million, at least 6.5 million
and contracts per quarter. And we're on the right track through
purposeful partnerships. So that is also what we're going to be talking

(12:31):
about, how you can partner with each other in order to
accomplish your goals. So say for instance, my focus
is suicide awareness and I'm trained. But your focus is mental health
and you're trained and certified as a mental health professional. Guess
what? We can collaborate on a contract that perhaps is looking
for both and even I'll talk about like

(12:53):
micro contract opportunities, how you can
actually do Those micro contracts, 10,000 and
below to do business with the government. So I am
bringing you the heat. I'll be giving you step by step, but also giving you
tips so that you can get in with low
barriers. I think you've already just really answered,

(13:14):
but I was going, my last question was just going to be why should people
come? Let's go. First of all,
no, no, no, no. Not just for me. So I will
say when I came to the Health and Wealth
Expo, first of all, you get fabulous coverage.
Photographers, videographers, red carpet treatment,

(13:36):
so everything is all about the glam. Second of all,
each of the speakers at the last summit we
learned real estate, development, finance, how to
establish your nursing consulting business,
how to invest in real estate. Right. And Build wealth,
government contracting, marketing. We learned so many

(13:59):
different nuggets and tips. Every speaker was on point.
It's filled with love. Everybody in the room is filled with
love, awesome networking opportunities, amazing vendors, and
also the food. So you put a lot of love,
a lot of class into the event. It was at the
harbor, right? How, how much better can you get? The

(14:21):
national harbor being filled with love, luxury
building, right? That community of wealth.
Everybody needs to sign up, especially as we are preparing for
the What Next in 2025. Better sign up, get your
ticket, come and join us because we are bringing the heat
to help you rise to that next level.

(14:45):
I can't thank you enough for coming on and sharing
your nuggets and, whoa, I know you're going to be sharing even more, but
thank you so much for that. The Health and Wealth Expo is such a
passion project for me and it's important for me,
to me that it comes across with everything that you just
said. So thank you so much. And you know, we do this for the

(15:07):
community. We do this for, you know, for the nurses, healthcare
professionals. You know, we want you to break through from that burnout. We want you
to learn other, other, other ways to have passive streams of
income, other ways to build generational wealth. And that's what it's about. Our
mission, our theme, is that it starts with me. And when I say
me, it means you. And that's what it starts with. And that's how we start

(15:29):
to build legacies outside of the traditional setting, because some people,
that's all they know. And this is an opportunity for you to learn more than
that. So to, to learn from gracious,
gracious experts like Dr. Gray. And thank you so much
for sharing your knowledge, sharing your expertise. And I hope to
see you at the Expo. You can register at

(15:50):
Healthandwealthexpos.com and we will see you
on February 22, 2025. So thank you
guys. By.
