In this episode, Marsha recounts a powerful story known as "The Acres of Diamonds," from Matt Cook's book, Beyond Wanting, which illustrates how individuals frequently overlook the treasures that lie within their own lives while searching desperately for fulfillment elsewhere. The tale follows a farmer in 1800s Africa who, driven by the desire to provide for his family, sells his farm in pursuit of diamonds. After years of fruitless searching and ultimately losing everything, he tragically takes his own life. Ironically, the new owner of the farmer's land discovers that it sits atop one of the richest diamond mines in history, highlighting the notion that what we seek is often right in front of us.
