Ricardo, "El Caco", grew up in Ecatepec surrounded by violence and neglect. At 8 years old, he worked on the streets, washing trucks and driving without supervision. At 12, he was using drugs, and by 23, he was leading his own kidnapping gang.

For years, he operated with cold calculation: months-long surveillance, safe houses, and violent negotiations that lasted exactly three days. He maintained a network of "lookouts" among taxi drivers and street vendors, collected ransoms at strategic locations, and moved his victims without leaving a trace. He killed three people, one at the request of the victim's own wife. After 14 years in prison, he faces the weight of his actions: the fear that his children will suffer what he caused other families. His story confronts us with an uncomfortable question: at what point does normalized violence eliminate all possibility of choice?Retry
