Agi Keramidas (00:04):
Welcome to Personal Development mastery
podcast, and this is anothersnippet of wisdom where I select
my favourite and most insightfulmoments from previous episodes.
Today's snippet comes from myguest Becca Williams, who is
talking about emotions as notsomething to be suppressed or

(00:25):
avoided, but rather a pathway todeeper self understanding. Let's
dive right in.

Becca Williams (00:38):
The mind needs a seat at the table, but the mind
should not be at the head of thetable. The our intuition, our
our heart should be at the headof the table. That intuition,
that deep inner knowing, fromwhich all answers can come. But

(00:59):
the mind, you know, we have beenthat's, that's why talk therapy
is not particularly effective.
Because I remember, for theyears that I was in talk
therapy, I'd be driving, youknow, to the therapist and
thinking, Hmm, what am I goingto talk about today? And and you
cannot heal from up here. Youhave to heal by dropping in and
being in touch here. And thebeautiful thing that the

(01:23):
developer and creator ofemotional liberation gave us,
and that is, his name is GMKhalsa, is the understanding,
and we aren't like in the stoneages as far as emotions are
concerned. It's amazing. I thinkit kind of got lost in that
divergence of of religion andscience. You know, somewhere it

(01:44):
got lost there. But when we are, when we can go inward and be in
touch with these emotions, it's,it's a bridge to our soul. So
think of it in this term, theseterms that the difficult
emotions that are coming up areasking us to be in touch with

(02:08):
our soul. And so how do we dothat? We need to go quiet. But
like so many of us, and it's,you know, the big all over,
right? Meditate, meditate, meditate. Well, I got to tell
you, I, I did Buddhistmeditation, Kabbalah meditation,
kind of freelance meditation, and I just couldn't I had this

(02:29):
pounding thoughts. And then, ofcourse, the answer is, well, you
just have to sit and sit longenough where the pounding
thoughts quiet down. That neverhappened to me. I mean, I did,
you know, retreats. I did, I didsilent retreats. I did weekend
retreats. Or, you know, you'rejust sitting on the cushion and
breathing, and it never helpedme. But what because? And I

(02:51):
think that a lot of it has to dowith this busy, distracting
world out there. And so we'rerunning, running, running, and
then it's like, okay, you needto meditate, sit down, put your
butt on the pillow and shut upand go inward. And that's really
hard for a lot of people in ourculture. It was very difficult

(03:13):
for me. So when I encounteredthis work, what happens is is
that we first feed the mindabout about the emotions,
talking to our mind about theemotions, so they know that this
is what we're going to be doingand and so that the practice is
where we go inward and we dothis work, where we're Moving,

(03:37):
where we're breathing. And theimportant piece is that we're
here, you know, I talk youthrough, I talk clients and
students through this emotion.
Because if this, if you'refeeling crappy, you know, why
would I? Why would I tell you,Okay, put that aside. We're

(03:58):
going to be walking, close youreyes and breathe, and we're
going to be walking along thewater and into the forest. And,
you know, all I all I want to dowith this terrible feeling, oh,
my God. And so what we do inemotional liberation is go
toward the feeling. I invitepeople to go to their feeling
while we're doing this work. Andit's right, it is so ripe.

(04:22):
Whatever is is knocking loudeston your head. Bring it and we
will, we will bring it up. Wewill process it, and we will
release it. And what happens isthat the more that you do this,
the better you get at it, to apoint of when you're out and
about, you're not on the cushionanymore. You're not doing this
work anymore. Maybe my partnersaid something that I took in a

(04:46):
bad way. There I you know, who?
Wow, that didn't that didn'tfeel good. What was that all
about? Wow. And then I processit, and I let it go. So, of
course, that's, you know, that'sthe practice way. But I have, I
have clients who, you know, after learning just the

(05:06):
foundations of the course, theyhit the, you know, they hit the
decks running with it.

Agi Keramidas (05:16):
Thank you for listening. You will find the
full conversation with BeccaWilliams in episode 396, the
link is in the episodedescription. If you enjoyed this
podcast, can you think of oneperson that would find it useful
and share it with them? Thankyou. And until next time, Stand

(05:37):
out. Don't fit in.
