Agi Keramidas (00:02):
Welcome to Personal Development mastery
podcast, and this is anothersnippet of wisdom where I select
my most insightful moments fromprevious episodes. Today's
snippet comes from my guestSophia Vasiliou, who talks about
how your perceptions andsubconscious beliefs create your

(00:24):
experience of reality. Let'sdive right in.

Sophia Vasiliou (00:32):
I was attending a lecture by Dr Bruce Lipton
last year or so, and he wasshowing a paper from modern
psychology journal which said, you know, we used to think that
seeing is believing, but nowresearch is really showing that
believing is seeing and theperception of reality is more

(00:58):
important in our experience thanwhat's actually there. And, you
know, for me, that was just mindblowing, you know, with the
psych K work that I do, which isabout reprogramming the
subconscious beliefs. You know,I understood that, but just
hearing it in that way was just, you know, real wow. Moment, you

(01:22):
know, is like that powerful. AndI guess one way of explaining it
would be two people having, youknow, a similar experience. You
know, one's afraid of dogs andone loves dogs, and a barking
dog runs up towards them. Now,one goes into a Terror Response

(01:45):
and one goes into a growth andhappiness response. Now there's
nothing different there, excepttheir perception of what that
dog is, and yet they're having acompletely different
physiological experience. Youknow, they've gone into fight or
flight or into growth andrepair. One's heart is
completely open. One is shuttingdown their immune system and

(02:08):
getting blood to their limbs torun and so actually triggering,
you know, small DNA changes, andbecause environment not safe,
need to do X, Y and Z to make mestronger. So, you know, the
cognitive functions shift, andso their decision making will be
instinctual rather thancreative. And you know, there's

(02:31):
no difference between what'shappening and the external
perspective. So even though theoutside reality can be exactly
the same, your perceptionscompletely changed the event.
And again, this is where werealise every you know, many
people say, you know, oh, you'renot the centre of the universe.
You really are the centre ofyour universe, because your

(02:55):
perceptions filter your realitycompletely. And so, you know,
the way I see the world iscompletely different to anyone
else, and no one else wouldexactly be able to understand
the way I perceive this externalreality. You know, it's like one
person has red glasses on andsomeone else has blue someone
else has violet. You know, they'll all see roughly the same

(03:18):
thing, but from a completelydifferent colour range. And then
when you change a belief it'slike you change from blue to
red, like whoa. I never knew theworld could look like that or be
like that, because it's alwaysbeen red, always been blue.
