The Who of Our Righteousness and The How of Our Righteousness

Jeremiah 23 "Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture!" says

the LORD. 2 Therefore thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning the shepherds who care for

my people: "You have scattered my flock, and have driven them away, and you have not attended

to them. Behold, I will attend to you for your evil doings, says the LORD.

5 "Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch,

and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the

land. 6 In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. And this is the name by which

he will be called: 'The LORD is our righteousness.'

The Lord Our Righteousness.

Exodus 19 5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall

be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:

6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which

thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

The Anointing of King David

(1 Sam. 16)

31 "Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of

Israel and with the house of Judah— 32 not according to the covenant that I made with their

fathers in the day thatI took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant

which they broke, [h]though I was a husband to them, says the LORD. 33 But this is the covenant that

I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My law in their minds,

and write it on their [i]hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 34 No more shall

every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for they all shall

know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the LORD. For I will forgive their

iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more."

DOUBLE IMPUTATION

Genesis 15 After this, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision:

"Do not be afraid, Abram.

I am your shield,[a]

your very great reward.[b]"

2 But Abram said, "Sovereign LORD, what can you give me since I remain childless and the one who

will inherit[c] my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?" 3 And Abram said, "You have given me no children;

so a servant in my household will be my heir."

4 Then the word of the LORD came to him: "This man will not be your heir, but a son who is your

own flesh and blood will be your heir." 5 He took him outside and said, "Look up at the sky and

count the stars—if indeed you can count them." Then he said to him, "So shall your

offspring[d] be."

6 Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness.

4 What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, discovered in this

matter? 2 If, in fact, Abraham was justified by works, he had something to boast about—but not

before God. 3 What does Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as

righteousness."[a]

4 Now to the one who works, wages are not credited as a gift but as an obligation. 5 However, to

the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as

righteousness. 6 David says the same thing when he speaks of the blessedness of the one to

whom God credits righteousness apart from works:

Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant.
