The Names and Titles of Jesus – Jesus the Lamb of God - Episode 105

This series of the names and titles of Jesus will give us a more in-depth understanding of Jesus Christ our Lord. This is 13th in the series.

1 Peter 1

18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. 20 He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. 21 Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God

JESUS THE LAMB OF GOD

Passover

Exd 12:7 'And they shall take [some] of the blood and put [it] on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it.

Exd 12:46  In one house shall it be eaten; thou shalt not carry forth ought of the flesh abroad out of the house; neither shall ye break a bone thereof.

John 1:29

Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!" . . . The next day again John was standing with two of his disciples and he looked at Jesus as he walked by and [he] said, "Behold, the Lamb of God!"

18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were

redeemed… 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. (1:18–19

"Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed" 1 Cor. 5:7

Revelation 7

After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes . . .

They approach the eternal throne bold through the blood of the shed Lamb.

. . . clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, "Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!" (vv. 9–10).

Revelation 7 (NIV)

These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have  washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15 Therefore,

"they are before the throne of God

and serve him day and night in his temple;

and he who sits on the throne

will shelter them with his presence.

16 'Never again will they hunger;

never again will they thirst.

The sun will not beat down on them,'[a]

nor any scorching heat.

17 For the Lamb at the center of the throne

will be their shepherd;

'he will lead them to springs of living water.'[b]

'And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.'[c]"

Lev 23:33-34 Sukkot

John 7

37 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, "Let anyone

who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of

living water will flow from within them."[c] 39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed

in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet

been glorified.

40 On hearing his words, some of the people said, "Surely this man is the Prophet."

41 Others said, "He is the Messiah."

Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant.
