Pair down your weddingguest list and save.
Be ruthless.
Invite couples only.
Omit children and co workers too.
Have a smaller wedding party so thatyou spend less on catering, bouquets,
boutonnieres, gifts, and transportation.

(03:38):
There's nothing like having awedding that you can't afford.
If you need to bring down that costand bring down the budget, then
please be ruthless with your guestlist and take off the people that
you haven't seen in a long time.
It's a great way of saving money.
You do not have to have a250 person wedding reception.
Honestly.

(03:58):
And that's another tip from Sal and Sam.
This is the Stress Free WeddingPlanning Podcast with Sal and Sam.
On today's Wedding Tip Wednesday,Wedding Mistake number 306,
trying to please everyone.
Your friends and family are more thanhappy to tell you what they think
you should do on your special day.
It's an effort doomed to failure.

(04:19):
Make sure you make yourself happy.
Just being prepared is the bestway to avoid a wedding disaster.
This is so true.
Do not, even though you're the host, whichis what you are, the couple, you're the
host, you have to please yourself and youhave to do things that you want to do.
You're going to have totry and say the word.
No, I know it's hard, but.

(04:42):
Your family members, your friends, yourclose friends, and your guests, they're
going to start telling you what youshould be doing at your own wedding.
Oh, and they're very loud about it.
Oh, let me tell you.
No, it's a very good word.
Learn how to say and use it nowbecause yes, trying to please every
one of those people that give youa suggestion, is doomed to failure.

(05:04):
Things that are stressful isdoing things you don't want to do.
You know, you having family, oh youhave to do an Anniversary Dance, that's
expected, why wouldn't you do that?
Or, that cousin who hands you a list ofover a hundred songs, can you play this
at your wedding because it would be great.
It's just, it's just too much.
Make yourself happy.
When it comes to the music, the DJ, if youhave a professional, he's gonna take care

(05:27):
of it for you, so that's not a big deal.
Make yourself happy.
Can't emphasize this enough.
And that's another tip from Sal and Sam.
This is the Stress Free WeddingPlanning Podcast with Sal and Sam.
Today's Wedding Tip Wednesdayis Research Vendor Websites
First, that's the big F I R S T.
When you're looking for yourwedding vendors, do your research.

(05:49):
Check out the vendor's websitesfirst before sending requests
for pricing, and especiallybefore setting up an appointment.
Look for a frequently askedquestion page, or something similar.
Look at videos, pictures, andread previous clients comments.
That's so important.
This will save you so much time.
So much time, and so much grief, too.

(06:11):
You want to stay away from thegrief part of it, and the stress.
We keep talking about, wewant to make this stress free.
So, if you don't do research, and youjust hire the first guy you see, There's
a lot of things that could go wrong there.
Like what, Sal?
Oh my goodness, let's talk about
that.
So, when you don't do research andyou just hire anyone, you may just be
hiring someone who plays music only.

(06:33):
And that could lead toa lot of bad things.
One, they don't have their own Plannerto help you plan the day's events.
They don't even help you arrangethe day's events 'cause they
don't think it's their job.
Then the day of the event you find outthey don't even mc the event, they're
trying to hand a microphone over tosomeone else who never does MCing.
The maitre'd is
the mare D Yes.
I can't tell you how manytimes I hear that story.

(06:54):
It, it is very important to findout what they exactly do for you.
You need to know all the ingredients.
Are they gonna help you plan?
These steps.
When is that fatherdaughter dance gonna happen?
When's that cake cutting gonna happen?
Are they gonna announce all thedifferent things that are gonna
happen throughout your wedding?
The DJ leads that.

(07:14):
Absolutely.
So it's very important that youhave someone who knows how to lead.
I went to a wedding and I got to bea spectator and I watched a DJ who
only knew very little information.
He knew that the father daughter dancewas gonna be, "I Loved Her First".
But he had no idea of wherethis was going to happen.
And I watched him asking the maitre'd.

(07:36):
Oh, when do you think I should do this?
Aaahhhhhhh!!
Then he'd go up to the bride.
Whenever you want me to dothis, I'll do this for you.
That's not stress free.
You're making me plan at my own wedding.
This should have already been planned out.
Your DJ ahead of time should knowthe order in which people are going
to be introduced into the room.
I can't tell you how manyDJs don't take care of that.

(07:58):
So it's very important to do yourresearch, do your due diligence,
and find out you're getting whatyou really think you're getting.
You need to know, hey, doyou have backup equipment?
And don't just ask that question, because I'm going to tell you, 99.
9 percent of the DJs are gonna say,of course I have backup equipment.
The next question is themost important question.
Where is that equipmentthe day of my event?

(08:20):
Because you'd be surprised howmany people say, oh, it's back at
my office or it's back at home.
So it should really be on thepremises because if you can't fix
it right away, The party's over.
Yeah.
What good has that done you?
So backup is always veryimportant, very key.
And not just for your DJ, yourphotographer, make sure they have
backup cameras and it's with them.

(08:40):
Of course, you'd be surprisedwhat you learn when you ask some
questions and do a little research.
Also, finding how thesepeople are dressing too.
You want them to dressappropriately for your wedding.
I've seen some really horribledressed professionals.
So it's very importantto take care of that.
Cause you don't want to bewith a sad face at your wedding
going, "What are they wearing?"
Need to find out from other couples.

(09:03):
Don't see reviews.
Talking to the facility.
Facility sees a lot of people.
They'll tell you the goodand bad and the ugly, so.
And that really is so importantwith all your other vendors.
Your facility.
You want to make sure that what theypromised you is what you're going to get.
Your photographer.
You want to make sure that they'regonna be able to take the right
pictures and have the rightexposure on those pictures, too.

(09:25):
Don't just look at the best picturesthat they'll put on the website, cause
that's what everybody's going to do.
If you're having video, lookat different styles of videos,
indoor, outdoor weddings.
Make sure you do all yourresearch ahead of time.
And although it's no guaranteeof perfection, it is the best way
to have a stress free wedding.

(09:47):
This is the Stress-free Wedding PlanningPodcast with Sal and Sam, a podcast
for engaged couples concerned aboutwedding planning and family expectations,
but who want to have a stress free, fun, and unforgettable wedding.
We'll be back with more of the Best ofWedding Tip Wednesdays right after this.
Wedding Tip Wednesday is broughtto you by Emerge Cosmetics.

Emerge as the true you.
Wedding Tip Wednesday, this one's for the groom.

(10:29):
Don't be late.
The groom is expected to be at theceremony on time, underlying on time.
Typically, the groom is thefirst person there along with
his groomsman and his best man.
They should be there to greet theguests and ensure that everything
is ready for when the bride arrives.
And so, if you're a same sexcouple, one of you has got to decide

(10:52):
who's going to be at the ceremonyfirst, or you can both be there.
Set your alarm and turnoff the snooze function.
If you're staying in a hotel, arrangefor a wake up call as a backup.
Avoid any late night drinkswith your best man or groomsman.
You don't want to start your marriage.
Having to explain why you're lateor hungover for your own wedding.

(11:15):
Oh,
no, you don't!
Ha-ha-Aaahhh-Ha-Ha!!
Not a good way to start things, huh?
Cuz you don't want to be late.
You want to be alert at your ownwedding, too So that's very important.
You want to have a night out?
Do it a few nights before, do what yougotta do, but the night before, yeah, you
can have a drink or two, but what I alwayssuggest, drink water between each drink.

(11:36):
The rules of ceremonies nowadays, or evenweddings, is there are no real rules.
We mentioned same sex marriages here, too.
You know, the two girls could showup to the wedding and greet everyone,
or you could choose one who's gonnabe there, and the other is not.
You could also have neither oneof them there, and just have their
Wedding Party there to greet everyone.

(11:57):
Okay, doesn't have to betreated any special way.
So just make sure you're on time.
And that's another tip from Sal and Sam.

remember to stay true to yourselves.
After all, it's your day.

(14:24):
Also, we spoke about researchingyour wedding vendors.
Now, on to more Insider Tips.
On today's Wedding Tip Wednesday,it is don't forget video or
filmmaking on your wedding day.
Did you know that one of the mostregretted things that couples always
say after the day, which obviouslyis too late, is that they wish that

(14:44):
they had video or filmmaking services.
So make room in your budget todayfor video or filmmaking services.
Why?
You'll have lasting memories.
You'll see things you didn't knowwere happening, and at the end of
the day, you'll enjoy this glimpseinto the past of one of the most
important days of your life.
Video is just so important, and the regret is because you

(15:05):
can't take in that whole day.
There's no way.
You can't be in every place at every time.
So video is just, just great memories, seeing grandma, or grandpa, or whoever,
that you don't get to see that often.
And there's that special moment thatyou'll get to cherish for years beyond.
And one of the criticisms thatcouples say is, I'll never watch it.

(15:25):
Well, maybe you won't watch it.
Maybe your sons and daughtersin the future will watch it.
I know my daughter used to watch ourwedding video when she was eight, nine,
and she could put the tape in herselfand she'd watch, aunts and uncles
dance and have fun on the dance floor.
Those are the memories thatare going to be created.
So don't dispense with videojust because you don't think

(15:47):
it's going to be something.
It's a historical piece.
And that's another tip from Sal and Sam.
Hi, I'm Andrew.
And I'm Dan.

On today's Wedding TipWednesday, take it all in.
After the ceremony, take a few momentsjust to sneak away privately and take
it all in and have a breath, ahhh.
Compliment yourself on what you'vejust accomplished and appreciate
everything you've worked so hard
on.

(16:28):
Yeah, you know, you have to take thatmoment for the two of you, you know,
everything's gonna be bam, bam, bam.
Let's slow it down.
Let's take that day in.
Hey, if you could actually seethe reception room without the
guests being in it, go in there, visualize it in its entirety.
You want to be able toremember as much as possible.
So slow it down.

(16:49):
Look around, look at all thegreat little details you worked
on so you can remember more.
It's so important that you try andremember and take in the little moments,
the little accomplishments that you makeand appreciate that the two of you have
put together a totally awesome event thatyour friends and family have come to, and

(17:10):
they're going to enjoy it because of you.
All those little details thatyou worried about, take a look
at them, realize what you did.
Pat yourself on the back, you did an awesome job.
And that's another tip from Sal and Sam.
Wedding Tip Wednesday is broughtto you by Emerge Cosmetics.

Emerge as the true you.
Today on Wedding Tip Wednesday.
Don't wear white
unless you've otherwise been specifiedby the couple to do so because

(17:53):
only one person gets to wear white.
If you're a guest, remember,just don't wear white.
You have other colors inthe world to choose from.
Choose another color.
And that means any toneclose to white also.
Ivory is still a no no.
That's true.
Okay, I've had people say, Oh,well she's wearing ivory, so

(18:15):
that means I could wear No.
No.
No.
No.
Only one person is able to be in thatcolor family, and you're not that person.
And on those rare occasions where thecouple have decided to have maybe a
black tie affair where you can, andthey've specifically told you that
you can wear white, just don't do it.
This is the Stress Free WeddingPlanning Podcast with Sal and Sam.

(18:39):
On this Wedding TipWednesday, get it in writing.
Get written costs from all your vendorsand have them create a contract.
Yes, a contract.
All reputable vendors willbe happy to do this for you.
Prices can and do change, unexpectedly!
Also be sure to find out the policy foryour deposits or down payments upfront

(19:01):
if the business fails or you cancel.
So a contract is not justto be there to help you.
It also helps the company.
You have an actual agreement.
In writing what exactlyyou are going to get.
And that's important.
Your contract should have every detail.
And one thing that a lot of clients comeback and ask me, I don't actually spell

(19:22):
it out in my contract, but is an addendum.
So if for instance,I'm providing lighting.
and they want extra lighting orthey want a monogram or something.
I will add an addendum to the contractthat spells out each item of lighting
that I'm going to be bringing.
12 fixtures, monogram this,or a lighting for outside.
All those extras obviously can'tfit into a boilerplate template, but

(19:47):
they can be added as an addendum.
That is also part of your contract.
And very important, sothere's no disagreement later.
Yes.
I didn't get what I really wanted.
Well, there it is in writing.
It's all in the contract for you.
So get it in writing.
Make sure you get a contractfrom every wedding vendor.
And that's another tip from Sal and Sam.
We just shared with you why you shouldtake it all in on your wedding day and

(20:12):
why, if you have to, pare down yourwedding guest list and why you should not
wear white at somebody else's wedding.
