(03:43):
But first, I'd like to say congratulationsto our listeners, Caitlyn and Chris.
They'll be getting married thisOctober right here in Connecticut.
Again, congratulations, Caitlyn andChris, and thank you for listening to
the Stress-free Wedding Planning Podcast.
Let's start off withsomething really important.
This is before the wedding.

(04:03):
Preparation is key.
Don't underestimate the power of rest.
Aim for at least eight hours ofsleep the night before, so you wake
up refreshed and ready to enjoyevery moment of your special day.
Now, don't party toohard the night before.
If you're planning a bachelor party, which we don't recommend doing the

(04:24):
night before, do it a few days ora week even before the wedding.
That way you don't have a hangover onthe day and ruin your entire wedding day.
Something extremely important theday of is to eat a solid breakfast.
Before the wedding, you may not geta chance to eat for hours, so start

(04:44):
the day with a high protein fillingbreakfast to keep your energy up.
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
That's important.
No.
No matter what you're doing, whether it's a wedding or any other
activity, if especially it's inthe summer, make sure you hydrate.
You've got to do this.
We've seen so many couples oreven guests, just literally pass

(05:06):
out because it's been too hot.
So hydrate, get some zero sugar drinksand have them sprinkled around, so that
if you're taking pictures or whetheryou're outside for any length of time,
so you have these drinks availableso you can always hydrate yourself.
Next, let's discuss practicingyour vows and speeches.

(05:27):
Don't leave this till the last minute.
Practice your vows and any speeches inadvance so you feel confident and sincere.
That's so important, Sal.
I see so many grooms actually justbefore the ceremony, they're actually
just finishing up their vows.
No, no, no, no.
Prepare in advance so that youdon't have to worry about it.

(05:51):
Just a reminder, join uson our YouTube channel.
All you have to do is searchfor the Stress-free Wedding
Planning Podcast with Sal and Sam.
Like, comment, subscribe, and get it first.
Prepare and have your accessories ready.
That's next up on ourlittle checklist here.
You have to get your rental suit orhave your suit dry cleaned, pressed,

(06:15):
and ready, and lay out all youraccessories, your tie, your cuff links
your socks, your shoes, your belts.
Do all that the night before.
Do not expect that you're gonnaremember all this stuff the morning
of, in the hustle and bustleof getting everybody together.
Practice beforehand how to do your tie.

(06:36):
Yes, there are differentways to do your tie practice.
YouTube has a great selectionof the different knots that
you can use for your tie.
That way you are not fumbling aroundon the big morning of the big day.
Now you wanna make sure you groom yourselfproperly, so get a fresh haircut, not
the day before, but a few days prior to.

(06:57):
And you know, you wanna be extraclean, nice professional shave,
so you look nice and smooth andgreat for any of those pictures.
Wear comfortable and clean underwear,it sounds simple, but comfort
matters on a long active day.
Treat yourself to a new pair if needed.
I can't emphasize this enough.
I always believe that a groom shouldnot just have extra underwear, but maybe

(07:19):
an extra t-shirt and a duplicate shirt,so you could change maybe after the
ceremony, so you feel much fresher whenit's time for introductions and that
first dance and the rest of the reception.
That second shirt Sal, is a WeddingTip Wednesday, we've done one of those.
That is crucial.
Have a second shirt.
I guarantee you're gonna be all hotand sweaty and you want to change into

(07:41):
that second shirt for the reception.
Which leads us nicely intoprepare and pack those essentials.
So prepare a tidy room.
What does that mean?
A tidy room is an area where you aregoing to get ready and nobody else
is going to be in there, preferably.
It makes for great picturesand a calmer atmosphere.

(08:05):
Hide away your clutter.
Throw away the trash, before thephotographer arrives because this room is
the room he's gonna take those picturesof the groom getting dressed and somebody
helping him with the tie, et cetera.
All of those candid behind thescenes shots are done in that
little, what we call a "tidy room".

(08:26):
Prepare a small bag with must haves.
This is what I call your "Go Bag".
It has everything in there thatyou might need in an emergency.
Deodorant, breath mints, tissues,a lint roller, backup socks.
And as Sal mentioned, that shirt, have all of those there ready.

(08:47):
And of course, don't forget the rings.
Yes, Sam.
The rings are so important andyou need to assign someone the
responsibility of the rings.
So decide in advance who'sgonna hold the rings.
Either be the best man, the weddingofficiant, or even your wedding planner
and double check they are secure.
Look.

(09:07):
This is something very important.
You can't leave this behind.
There has to be a checklist.
Let it not be the onlything that you worry about.
Let your best man know, "Hey, we needto check on the rings" and make sure
whoever's supposed to have 'em, has themand is gonna take 'em with them when
they go to the church or to the facilitywhere you might have your ceremony.
We've just explained nineessential tips preparing the

(09:29):
groom-to-be before the wedding day.

Hold that kiss.
Don't rush on your wedding day.
A longer more passionate kiss cancreate a memorable moment and offer

(11:17):
photographers great opportunitiesfor capturing that emotion.
Yes.
You should enjoy kissingon your wedding day.
Aim for a kiss that lasts at least afew seconds, not just a quick peck.
This ensures great photos.
Your photographers will love you.
And that's another weddingTip from Sal and Sam.

Welcome back to our discussionabout crucial Wedding Day hacks that
every groom-to-be needs to know.
I'm Sam from Atmosphere Productions.
I'm Sal from After Hours Eventsof New England, we've already
discussed practicing your vows, preparing your suit and accessories

(12:01):
and groom-to-be wedding ring tips.
Another aspect of your checklistbefore the wedding day should
be preparing your groomsmen.
Very important that they get the timelineand what their exact responsibilities are.
They're just not going toshow up as part of your crew.
They are going to be,actually a part of the day.

(12:23):
So if they have responsibilities, make sure they know when and where.
Give them a ready time.
So, my time is usually 15 or 20 to30 minutes before everybody else's
time, so I always tell people tobe there earlier than I need them.
And that's important thatyou do the same thing.
You want them to be on time, you don'twant them showing up at the last minute.

(12:45):
This avoids any delays.
Something that's really great todo is write a note to your partner.
A heartfelt letter, so they get tosee it, and you get to connect before
everything happens at the alter.
And it's also something youcould do for the First Look is
such a great emotional moment.
Another aspect that needs to be donebefore the day is for you as the

(13:07):
groom to spend time with your parents.
This is often forgotten.
Usually it's the bride that doesall the fun stuff with the family.
But don't forget, gentlemen, before the day, please, spend
some time with your parents.
It's really a beautiful emotionalthing to do before the wedding day.
That's right.

(13:28):
Spend some time with your parents.
We've already spoken about whatshould happen before the wedding.
Now let's talk about what weshould be doing during the wedding.
Be present and enjoy every moment.
It's also important to be punctual.
It's a sign of respect to yourpartner, your guest, and vendors.
Don't keep everyone waiting.
Please, please be on time.

(13:48):
That is very important.
Now, be in the moment, enjoy andtake a deep breath, look around
and soak in the experience.
This is your day.
Enjoy it!
Also important on the day is to stickwith your partner or at least near them.
Etiquette says that both of you shouldbe in the room at the same time.
So, don't both leave and do games outsideor, or go to the bar at the same time.

(14:15):
You need to be present.
At least one of you should be in the room.
Preferably both.
Mingle with your guests.
Your guests love it when you go tothe cocktail hour and you mingle.
Outside or, or in thecocktail hour room with them.
It really is a sweet thing to do.
It shows that you care.
Stay close to your spouse.
Share the day together with them.

(14:36):
So, look, things may go wrong, but don't sweat the small stuff.
Things may not go exactly as planned.
Focus on the big picture andlet the minor hiccup slide.
Here's something that we caution all ourclients, and that is to drink responsibly,
but also you must eat responsibly.
You've gotta remember that it's along day and if all you do is drink,

(14:59):
you're gonna be sick later on.
And if you eat too much.
You're gonna be sick later on.
It is a stressful day, so don't skipmeals and pace yourself with alcohol.
You want to remember the day for all theright reasons, and so do your guests.
And what we tell everyone, Sam, allthe time, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.

(15:20):
Make sure you're drinking waterbetween those drinks, so you
won't get sick and you'll feelwonderful through the whole event.
Now, another thing that's important, and that's keeping your pockets empty.
Remove bulky items because thisis not gonna look good in photos.
Ask a groomsman to hold them if needed,or keep 'em in the bridal suite so

(15:41):
you don't have to worry about that.
Also, coordinate sunglassesfor outdoor photos.
Decide in advance if your groomsmenwill wear sunglasses for outdoor shots.
Consistency looks best.
And check your posture.
Isn't this something thatevery photographer is trying
to get everybody to look good?

(16:02):
And 99% of it is posture.
Make sure you standstraight, erect and tall.
And during the ceremony, make sureyou stand tall, relaxed, and ready
to take those ceremony pictures.
And of course, all of the weddingparty pictures, you need to stand
and you need to have the rightposture because it exudes confidence.

(16:26):
And of course it looks great in pictures.
Why wouldn't you wanna stand upand look good in those pictures?
So have a great posture.
A lot of people are working hard foryou at at your wedding, even if their
family or their vendors or what have you.
Express gratitude and have fun.
Thank your guests, thank yourwedding party, your vendors,
and for being part of your day.

(16:46):
A little appreciationgoes a long, long way.
Remember to let loose dance and celebrate.
This is the start ofan incredible journey.
Enjoy every second.
You got to have fun.
That's the most important thing.
I believe that the grooms-to-be must do.
Have fun.
This is the Stress-free WeddingPlanning Podcast with Sal and Sam.

(17:09):
So there you have it.
We've just explained crucialwedding day hacks that every
groom-to-be needs to know.
So let's review before thewedding preparation is the key.
Don't party too hard the nightbefore or in fact, don't have a
bachelor party the night before.
Have it weeks in advance.
Eat a solid breakfast.

(17:30):
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
Practice your vows in speech anddon't wait till the last minute.
Another thing is prepyour suit and accessories.
Maybe even try everything on.
Use all the accessories to make sureyou do have everything with you.
Groom yourself.
You wanna look great for allthose pictures and videos that
might be taken at your wedding.

(17:50):
Prepare and pack essentials.
That extra underwear, thoseextra socks, that extra t-shirt
or maybe even another shirt.
Assign ring responsibility.
Make sure someone has those rings.
You don't want that to gowrong during the ceremony.
And of course, prepare the groomsmen.
Letting them to know about certainthings are, we're gonna use sunglasses
for outside pictures or what have you.

(18:12):
Whatever they need to know ahead of time.
You want them to be prepared.
And write a note to your partner.
It's always beautiful to havea first look and then hand a
note so that they can read.
Looks really cool.
Take a moment with your parents.
Grooms-to-be, this isa very emotional time.
Don't forget your parents.
Now, during the wedding dayitself, be present and enjoy.

(18:35):
Arrive early and on time.
Punctuality says everything aboutyour respect for your guests,
and stick next to your partner.
Stick close to them.
You love them.
You just got married.
You should stay together.
And can't emphasize this enough, don't sweat the small stuff.
Remember what the meaningof the whole day is.
It's just marrying your partner, theperson you're gonna love forever.

(18:58):
Eat and drink responsibly.
Make sure you have somefood in your stomach.
It's gonna be a really long day.
And don't overdo the drinking of alcohol.
Make sure you're drinkingsome water in between.
Keep your pockets empty.
So important for pictures of videos.
You don't wanna see bulky pockets.
And always check your posture.
Make sure you're standing straightup and looking straight ahead

(19:20):
for all those great pictures.
And finally expressgratitude and have fun.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
