(03:12):
That's Atmosphere hyphenProductions dot com.
Well, Sam, let's kickoff with the big picture.
The number one thing we tellcouples is know what matters most.
Not every detail needs to be perfect, but the experience is what's important.
That's what people truly remember.
So let's think about the feelof day, how you want it, how

(03:33):
you envision everything to be.
Look, everything isn't going to beperfect and it doesn't need to be,
sometimes you just gotta roll with it.
There are little things that aregonna go wrong, but ultimately that
whole day is about the two of you.
So don't let the small stuff hurt you.
Roll with it.
Have a great time.
Concentrate on the thingsthat are important to you.

(03:54):
If music is a big thing for you, makesure you have great conversations
with your DJ on what your expectationsand what your vision is so they
understand what you're doing.
Same thing with your photographer.
You wanna go over with themwhat your expectations are and
talk it out to make sure you'regetting what you truly do want.
And when it comes to food, if you coulddo it, have a tasting at the facility

(04:17):
in which you're having your wedding, ifthat's something that's important to
you, get a taste of very little thingand see what works for you and what's
gonna make you happy on your special day.
Three top priorities for many couples isthe music, the food, and the photography.
So, stay focused and keep your energy, and control your budget where it counts.

(04:38):
One of the biggest game changers,Sal, is couples hiring their vendors.
And it's not just hiring the vendors,it's hiring vendors that you trust.
Now, I don't mean justprofessional because anybody
can put that on their paperwork.
But people who communicate and understandyour vision and will go to bat for you.

(05:01):
So remember, when you are hiring yourteam, those are the key things that
you need to think about, when youare choosing these vendors, are they
going to be your biggest advocate?
Now, what's the vibethat you are looking for.
When you're hiring your dj?
It's not just somebodywho's pushing buttons.

(05:21):
They're there toquarterback your reception.
Your ceremony.
They're there to be your advocate,so that you can get everything done
in a timely manner and make surethat your guests are having fun.
So it's not just somebody pushing buttons.
Yes.
Of course you can get the cheapest DJ andthen they'll just push buttons, or you

(05:44):
can get a qualified professional that'sgonna help guide you and be what I call
your reception entertainment director.
We've seen photographers helpbustle the dresses of the bride,
or Officiant have tissues for theparents or even for the groom.
That's the kind of support that you want.

(06:07):
Meet with your vendors early.
Ask questions.
Tell them what you want.
If they make you feel calm andheard, you are in good hands.
All good information there, Sam.
Look, another important thing is creatinga timeline and sticking to it, well sorta.
A A lot of couples get a littlenervous when someone's too organized.

(06:30):
I've noticed that.
But what you need to realize is you haveto have a game plan going into a wedding,
'cause if you don't have a game plan, everything will fall apart very quickly.
So, having something down on paperon the way you want it, is very
important, so everyone understandswhat your expectations are.
So having a good timelineis extremely important.

(06:53):
Don't watch the clock.
Don't worry about all the other things.
If you have true professionals, they'regonna help you through the whole thing.
I know Sam and myself, when we're DJing,we have our timelines and we will help
guide you through that day to make thingsas simple for you as humanly possible.
And we're working with all theother professionals to make sure
everything is nice and smooth.

here's a key (07:12):
build in buffers.
When you're planning things, especially pictures, say you're having
a First Look and the photographersays, Hey, it takes 90 minutes.
Okay, that's nice.
Don't just put aside 90minutes, make it two hours.
If you have people you know you can'ttrust, they're gonna be somewhere on time.
Hey, if it's starting at five o'clock, you may wanna say, 4:30, 4:45.

(07:35):
You know your family and friends best.
You know what kind ofbuffer you need to put in.
In my own personal wedding, mysister is late for everything.
We had to tell her that it starteda half hour, then it really did,
and she made it just on time.
So these are all very important things toconsider when coming up with a timeline.
Also, have a "day-of point person" whois not you, whether it's your planner,

(07:58):
a trusted friend or someone like us.
Let them handle the questions, thehiccups, and the missing boutonnieres.
So we've just explained, focusing onwhat matters, building your dream team
and and creating a realistic timeline.
Coming up next, keep the energy flowingand most importantly, stay present.

Now it's time for our Wedding TipWednesday, but first marriage is where,
"what do you want to eat" becomes themost complicated question ever asked!
There's nothing more true than that.
For this tip, let's talkabout quality flowers.
Picking a florist is likepicking a photographer.
You're picking a true artist, and it'simportant to get really beautiful flowers

(09:04):
because quality flowers will last longer.
They're gonna be in so many picturesand they're gonna last a lifetime.
So you want everything looking great.
And that's another weddingtip from Sal and Sam.

This is the Stress-free WeddingPlanning Podcast with Sal and Sam.
Thanks for joining us again in ourdiscussion about making your wedding
day blissful with unmissable tipsfor stress-free wedding planning.
Are you ready for some more information?
Great.
I'm Sam from Atmosphere Productionsand my host with the most is Sal.

(10:30):
Hi, I am Sal from AfterHours Events Of New England.
Look, you wanna keep your energy up.
One of the biggest causes of stresswhen guests are confused or bored.
So keep the energy moving, keep it up.
Sam and I agree that welove a wedding that flows.
There's nothing greater than that.
Ceremony to cocktail hour,to dinner, to dancing.

(10:51):
No long gaps, no awkwardsilences, keeping music going.
Give people a drink and alwayslet them know what's next.
And that's extremely important.
That's sometimes where a wedding willfall short when your guests are not
being directed and they have no ideawhat's coming up and they get lost.
So, it's very important.
Have an mc who's gonna kind of leteveryone know over the microphone

(11:13):
how things are gonna work.
Have a plan for announcementsfor introducing the couple.
When is the cake gonna happen?
That's stuff that doesn'tjust happen magically.
Someone's gotta lead the charge.
I'm going to sneak in a pro Tip here.
Feed your vendors!
Happy vendors equals a smoother event.
We promise.
You're absolutely right Sal.
I had a client, that was veryconcerned that there would be a gap

(11:36):
in between the time that they wentto take "sunset pictures" and when
they got back, they didn't wantpeople sitting around and waiting.
Of course, that's not gonna happen.
We're gonna get everybody up and dancing.
And that's the key thing.
A lot of clients just thinkthat the timeline is going
to be one definitive thing.
It is fluid.
Things will keep moving.

(11:58):
And if you have a DJ that isprofessional, like Sal and I, we're
gonna make sure there is no longgaps, there are no awkward pauses.
The music just keeps on going.
And that brings me to our next point, which is stay present, be in the moment.
The day flies by so quickly.

So soak up those little moments: your partner's face during the vows. (12:18):
undefined
Your grandma dancing, the uptown funk, that first bite of cake, all those little
moments, soak them up, because if youdidn't get video, you're not gonna see
those moments again, so enjoy them!
Now, what happens if something goes wrong?

(12:39):
And I guarantee something will go wrong!
There is no such thingas a perfect wedding.
Don't let it ruin your joy.
Don't be a "bridezilla".
Be in the moment.
And move on to the next thing.
Your guests probably don't evenknow that something went wrong.
That imperfect moment could turn outto be the best story of your wedding.

(13:02):
And remember, you are not just planninga party, you are beginning a marriage.
That's what it's all about.
So let's recap.
Remember, focus on what matters.
It's so important.
Build your dream team sothe stress will go away.
Create a realistic timeline.
Again, this is gonna help keepstress away by being realistic.

(13:24):
Keep the energy flowing.
You wanna keep things moving on,like Sam said, with a timeline.
You may go out for pictures, but we'regonna keep things going inside the
room so everyone's having a great time.
And mostly please stay present.
That is so important that you focus on theday in front of you and what is happening,

(13:44):
and be present and be in the moment.
Your wedding should bejoyful, personal, and fun.
With the right planningand the right mindset.
It absolutely can be.
At the end of the day, your weddingis about celebrating your love,
not sweating about the small stuff.
When you plan with intention, surroundyourself with the right people and

(14:05):
give yourself space to be present.
The magic just unfolds naturally.
We hope these tips help you breathea little easier and make your life
just a little bit more easier, and we hope that you get excited
for what's ahead on your big day.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
