It's Fleachborn and Hayley's a little bit of pod. Welcome
to a little bit of pod.

Speaker 3 (00:09):
I think this might sell me, make me sound like
a bit of a prick.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Oh, are you just realizing?

Speaker 3 (00:13):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (00:15):
You know, I'm such a people pleaser and I love
people to like me. But the other day I've been
tired and a bit of grumpsy. And you've been traveling
a lot, traveling a lot, and so I was at
the end. I've been traveling a lot with my same
big red suitcase that I have. You know, we call
it my little smig fridge because.

Speaker 4 (00:30):
It's so cute, and everybody comments that the baggage carousel.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
And that's why I have it, because I like to
be looked at and acknowledged and just steered at and
for people to be like, wow, what a woman. So
on my final trip from down South home, I went
to chicken my bag.

Speaker 4 (00:51):
And also she takes us away when she's away for
like one night, even two nights.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
Yeah, in.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
Your dollars down I.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
Want options in the wardrobe. I want options in the bedroom.
So you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
I pack heavy, and so I had my suitcase and
I there was just a self chicken and then I
had to drop it to the bag place. And I
drop it to the bag place and it's twenty four
point five kgs.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
That's over the max is twenty three.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Max is twenty three. And she looks at me, the
woman chicken in and she goes, you want to tek
something out? And I said no. Just like that, I
just was like, no, I don't and she was like, oh, okay,
well it's overweight by.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
One and a half kg's and I said, yeah, I
see that.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
How do you have twenty twenty four and a half
kg's when you're away two.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Nights, crazy a crazy dial doos, yep and clothes and
going out clothes?

Speaker 2 (01:53):
How much of that did you not wear in your suitcase?

Speaker 3 (01:56):
Eighty percent of it? Eighty percent of it? Sue up options,
makeup options.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
So it was just this moment of me that I
was like, I never say no, and so I just
tried it out, saying no, do you want to take
something out of this?

Speaker 3 (02:09):
I said no. She goes, what's overweight?

Speaker 1 (02:11):
And I said no, and then she said I'm going
to have to charge you fifty dollars for that. And
I was like do you, and she goes, yeah, because
it's overweight, I can't let it through. And I said,
but I've traveled up and down the country in the
last week and no one's charged me for it, and
it's been the same weight the whole time. She said,
is that right? And I said yeah. She said, but
I'm gonna have to charge you and I said, no, you.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Don't try to put it a Jedi mind trick. I was, oh,
my god.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
I told her, no, you don't. Nick minute, she's putting
it on the heavy tag, She's put it on my
bag tag and that thing goes through it.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
My god, you were outrageous.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
I walked away and was like, did I just do that?
Did I?

Speaker 2 (02:50):
You know her?

Speaker 3 (02:51):
And she just I think she was kind of like also.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
Like there's no point because you get another bag, Like
you could have checked too bad.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
No, because I actually had to print a bag tag
for the producers they had of gear, and I think
every now and then we'll give them out extra bag tags. Yes,
I would have said, look, I've got two bags available
and I'm only using one. No, no, No, I just
knowed her. You know, I'm going to try and see
how far I can get away. Imagine if I go
and buy a top or something like that's forty dollars,
and I'm like, isn't it? Is it that?

Speaker 3 (03:20):
I don't think it is, babe.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
I think you should have an eye. I think you
need to put your stuff discount on.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
Yeah. I think there's a world in which this isn't forty.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
I think it's just what they call getting older, isn't it?
And being a Karen?

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Yeah, yeah, saying no. Well, you know, the other day
I could have said something about my eggs but.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
I didn't make them, but you didn't. I didn't, but
I did say something. Because the truth is, and other
airports they have just turned a blind eye. I'm going
on whatever. She tried to pull me up, She tried
to get me to take something out. I said no,
I don't want to open my bag then and there
and have to carry my shoes or something. I just
said no. And then she said I've got to charge it,
and I just said, it's all.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Gone on the plane, isn't it.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
It's all going on the plane.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Remember we have this theory that at this time last
year I was significantly heavier in my own body.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
Oh yes, so actually me having.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
That one and a half kgs in the extra in
the suit.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Skill mathing is skill math maats way.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
Yeah, because if you make me take it out, fuck you.
I'm going to go and eat two pies and then
I'm anyway.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Find the weight somewhere. Extra fuel.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
Yeah, that'll show you

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
