Waiting can feel like a room with no windows: you keep checking the door, re-reading the same signs, and wondering why everyone else seems to get called forward first. We sit in that tension and talk about what Jesus says in Matthew 6 when worry starts creeping in, not because our needs are small, but because waiting can do real work on our hearts. If you’re waiting for love, healing, direction, restoration, a diagnosis, provision, or your next step, you’ll hear language for what you’re carrying and a gentler way to hold it.

We unpack the “waiting room” mindset and the comparison spiral that comes with it: watching other people get engaged, buy homes, have babies, or land opportunities while you feel stuck in the same season. We name the lie that quietly steals your life one day at a time: “my life will begin when…” Then we slow down on a key line from Scripture, “Seek first the kingdom of God,” and talk about what that really means. It’s not a command to stop hoping. It’s an invitation to stop making the outcome the center of your world, and to choose God’s presence, peace, and joy today.

You’ll also hear why waiting is not evidence that God has forgotten you. Over and over in the Bible, waiting is where God forms people, prepares them, and grows their faith. We close with practical ways to live fully while you wait and one question to carry into your week: what am I seeking first? Speaker (00:04):
Hello, loves.
Welcome back to 1 True Talks.
Today we are going to talkabout the waiting room.
I am so happy to be here tohave this conversation with you
because lately I've been readingthrough the book of Matthew
during my quiet time.
And there was a section thisweek that I couldn't stop

(00:26):
thinking about.
You know, when you read amessage you've read a hundred
times before, but all of asudden, it feels like you're
reading it for the first time.
What happened to me this week?
And honestly, I spent a lot oftime waiting, waiting for prayer

(00:49):
to be answered, waiting forclarity, waiting for the next
opportunity, waiting forhealing, waiting for the next
chapter.
And maybe you do too.
Maybe you're waiting for arelationship.
Maybe you're waiting for ababy.
Maybe you're waiting for afinancial breakthrough.

(01:11):
Maybe you're waiting for aphone call of a diagnosis, a
promotion, or simply wonderingwhat God is doing in this season
of your life.
And as I was sitting, all ofthat, I opened up Matthew 6, and

(01:32):
Jesus started talking aboutworry.
Not because he doesn't knowwhat we are waiting for, but
because he knows exactly whatwaiting can do to our hearts.
So I want to read this passagetogether and then just talk

(01:53):
about what God has been teachingme through it that I hope is
helpful for you.
Jesus knows what you're waitingfor.
I'm reading from Matthew 6:25through 34.
Therefore, I tell you, don'tworry about your life, what you

(02:13):
will eat, or what you willdrink, or about your body, what
you will wear.
Isn't life more than food andthe body more than clothing?
Consider the birds of the sky.
They don't soar or reap orgather into barns.

(02:40):
Yet your heavenly father feedsthem.
Aren't you worth more thanthey?
Can I just pause here for asecond?
Because I think something wehear don't worry and assume
Jesus says, stop caring.

(03:02):
But that's not what he'ssaying.
He's saying you have a fatherwho already knows.
And I feel like a lot of usneed that reminder because our
first instinct is usually tofigure everything out, to make a

(03:23):
plan, to fix it, to control it,or honestly, to refresh
something.
Refresh the email, refresh thebank account, refresh the social
media, refresh the dating app, refresh the test results,
refresh the circumstances.
And meanwhile, Jesus is gentlysaying, look at me.
Let's talk about the waitingroom.

(03:46):
The passage also made me thinkabout a waiting room.
Nobody enjoys a waiting room.
You're constantly checking theclock.
Every time the door opens, youlook up.
You're wondering why everyoneelse seems to be getting called
before you.
You start comparing yourtimeline with everybody else's

(04:09):
timeline.
And I realized I think a lot ofus are living our spiritual
lives exactly like that.
We're sitting in God's waitingroom, watching everyone else get
engaged, watching everyone elsebuy a house, watching everybody
else have babies, watchingeverybody else get a promotion,

(04:30):
watching everybody elseseamlessly move forward while
you're sitting in the same chairwe've been sitting in for
months or maybe even years.
And instead of noticing God'spresence, we're staring at the
door, waiting for our name to becalled, the lie that life

(04:51):
starts later.
Jesus continues in Matthew 6saying, Can any of you add on
moment to his lifespan byworrying?
And the question challenged mebecause I think one of the
biggest lies we believe is thatmy life will really begin when I

(05:16):
get married, when I loseweight, when I get healthier,
when I get a new job, when Ihave more money, when I finally
figure out God's plan.
And without realizing it, wepostpone joy, we postpone
gratitude, we postpone livinglife to the fullest.

(05:38):
We convince ourselves thattoday's season is just something
to survive until God finallygives us what we've been asking
for.
But nowhere in scripture doesJesus tell us to put our lives
on hold.
Instead, he invites us to walkwith him today.
Not someday, but today, rightnow, in this moment, then we

(06:04):
come to one of the most quotedverses in the Bible.
But seek first the kingdom ofGod and his righteousness, and
all these things will beprovided for you in Matthew 6:
33.
I've heard that verse my wholelife, but this week I noticed

(06:26):
something different.
Jesus doesn't say, don't desiremarriage.
He doesn't say don't hope forprovision.
He knows those things matter.
What he's saying is, don't makethose things the center of your

(06:49):
life, because we're alwaysseeking something.
We're seeking clarity, we'reseeking approval, we're seeking
comfort, we're seeking control,we're seeking answers.
And Jesus lovingly says, seekme first.
Not because he is trying totake something from us, but

(07:09):
because he wants to give ussomething that circumstances can
never take away.
His presence, his peace, hisjoy, his kingdom.
God is still working.
One of my favorite things aboutscripture is that almost every
person God uses had to wait.

(07:34):
Abraham waited, Joseph waited,David waited, Ruth waited, even
Jesus spent years in ordinary, quiet life before his public
ministry ever began.
Waiting was never evidence thatGod had forgotten them.

(07:56):
It was often where he wasforming them.
And I wonder, what if God isdoing his deepest work in the
season you're most eager toleave?
What if he's growing yourfaith, teaching dependence,

(08:18):
building character, preparingyou for something you can't even
see?
Maybe your waiting season isn'tempty.
Maybe it's divine interventionfor your higher God-given
purpose.
Your imitation.
Every day has enough trouble ofits own.

(08:49):
I love that because Jesus keepsbringing us back to today.
Not next year, not five yearsfrom now, today.
So maybe tomorrow morning looksa little different.
Before reaching for Instagram, reaching for scripture, before

(09:12):
opening the dating app, openyour Bible, before asking God,
when are you going to change mycircumstance?
Ask God, how can I know youmore today?
Because maybe that's theinvitation.
Not to stop hoping, not to stoppraying, but to stop postponing

(09:38):
our joy until the prayer isanswered.
Go take a walk.
Call your parents, laugh withyour friends, serve a church,
start the project, take a class, volunteer.
Love the people God has alreadyplaced in front of you well.

(10:00):
Because your life isn't waitingto begin.
It's happening right now.
So, in conclusion, I want toleave you with one question
that's been sitting on my heartall week.
What am I seeking first?
Not what I say I'm seeking, notwhat I wish I'm seeking, not

(10:27):
what am I actually pursuingevery single day.
Because here's the beautifulpromise of Matthew 6.
We have a father who alreadyknows what we need.
We don't have to chase hisattention.
We already have his love.
We don't have to convince himto care.

(10:49):
Father, thank you for meetingwith us in the waiting.
Thank you.
You are just as present in theunanswered prayers as you are in

(11:12):
miracle.
For every person listening whofeels forgotten, remind them
that you see them.
For every person who feelsbehind, remind them that your
timing is perfect.
For every person carryingdisappointment, replace it with
hope.
Teach us to seek your kingdombefore we seek certainty.

(11:36):
Teach us to trust your heartwhen we can't yet see your hand.
And help us remember that youare still moving, still working,
and still writing a story morebeautiful than we could ever
imagine.
We love you.
In Jesus' name.

(11:56):
Amen.
Thank you so much for spendingthis time with me.
And wherever you find yourselftoday, whether you're waiting
for love, healing, direction, restoration, or simply your next
step.
Remember this.

(12:18):
Your waiting season is not apause in God's plan.
It may be the very place whereGod is drawing you closer to
him.
Seek him first, trust him withthe rest.
And I'll see you on our next 1True Talks.

(12:38):
